For the WIP meme: a gentleman and an officer?
hehe this one is so dumb and so fun; it’s modern military au cody/rex where Rex is an ROTC cadet and Cody is from West Point, attending the same training sorta like basic but not really prior to graduation. fingers crossed I’ll be able to submit it to this year’s codex week collection which is still open for a while—it is mostly done. knock on wood.
There’s a several-day stretch of inclement weather, so the cadets focus on classroom work, specifically preparing for the next exercise, Land Nav trials. There are training-standard powerpoints and worksheets, uncomfortable chairs and ancient blackboards, and the whole time, rain pounding and rattling against the metal roofs. It’s a monotonous lullaby, and the Drill Sergeants take malicious delight in catching drowsy cadets and waking them up.
Rex knows how to fight the pull of sleep. He’s just as tired and bored as the rest of them, but the trick is to give yourself a little jolt of adrenaline every so often. So he thinks about things that make his heart race and his palms sweat, he fakes a near-genuine interest in the material, he sits in the most uncomfortable position in those uncomfortable chairs, and he doesn’t get caught with heavy eyelids.
Sometimes the thoughts aren’t even terror-adjacent. He works out theoretical problems with his thesis project, a piece of tech he’s building to be both all-terrain and observant with enough logic to function tactically, for finding and neutralizing IEDs. Other robots have achieved some or part of these goals, but Rex wants the Rugged Recon Discern/Disarm to be smart enough to go out on its own, practically indestructible, and unable to be corrupted. He doesn’t want his tech misused.
Most of his goals were easy to meet individually: the rough terrain build, the bomb identification parameters, the deescalation logic; but when put together, his robot had developed a series of stubborn ticks. Rex hesitates to call it an attitude problem, or worse a personality, at least out loud, but he does want this thing to make its own decisions. Trying to integrate its systems has been like a wrestling match with a side of juggling and wild-animal taming.
In between land nav problems, of course. They’re allowed to take notes, and Rex takes care not to get too immersed in his R2D2 calculations in the margins to lose the thread of the actual class.
“Pass your worksheets to your battle buddy,” the instructor says, and Rex immediately regrets not sticking to the required math.
Cadet Wolffe mutters “Hey, overachiever, where are we going, to Jupiter?”
Rex suppresses a smile. At least it’s only Derek, who goes to the same university, though he’s not prior service like Rex. “To get more stupider,” he rejoins sarcastically.

Examining and contrasting fingerprint, iris, and facial reputation biometric access manipulate methods
Safety is a primary priority for absolutely everyone inside the world today, inclusive of people, corporations, and governments. Biometric reap right of access to control structures have become an important element of daily life, from unlocking our cell phones to having access to stable areas at locations of employment or airports. These systems use precise organic developments like fingerprints, iris patterns, or facial functions to affirm a person's identification, supplying a more stable and handy alternative to traditional passwords, PINs, or keycards.
Three of the maximum generally used biometric get admission to methods are fingerprint recognition, iris reputation, and facial recognition. Each of those technologies has its own strengths, obstacles, and regions of software. In this newsletter, we will compare these three biometric access manage structures, specializing in how they paintings, their accuracy, security, and in which they're most generally used.
1. Fingerprint Recognition
Fingerprint reputation is the most widely used shape of biometric authentication. It involves scanning someone’s fingertip and evaluating the specific sample of ridges and valleys to the only stored in the machine. This generation has been around for many years, however latest advancements have made it greater correct, low priced, and user-friendly.
How It Works
A fingerprint scanner captures the photo of your fingerprint while you place your finger on it. The gadget then converts this image right into a virtual template based on the particular sample of ridges and trivialities points (the details of ridges, including in which they cut up or stop). When you try and get admission to a machine, your fingerprint is scanned and compared to the stored template. If there is a match, get right of entry to is granted.
Pros
Affordability: Fingerprint scanners are rather cheaper, making them available for both private use (like phone unlocking) and company use (for securing office doorways).
Ease of use: It’s easy to apply, requiring simply the contact of a finger.

Vulnerability: While it is secure, fingerprints may be spoofed the use of splendid replicas or latent fingerprints left on surfaces, although this requires advanced strategies.
Where It’s Used
Numerous devices, which include door locks, laptops, smartphones, time attendance systems, or even banking systems, use fingerprint recognition widely. It’s also commonplace in regulation enforcement for crook identity.
2. Iris Recognition
Iris reputation uses the unique styles in a person’s iris—the colored part of the eye—to authenticate identity. Unlike fingerprints, iris patterns are highly strong throughout someone’s lifestyles, making this one of the most dependable biometric access manipulate systems.
How It Works
An iris scanner uses a digicam to seize a brilliant picture of the eye, focusing on the tricky styles inside the iris. The machine then compares those patterns with the stored template within the database. If the patterns fit, get entry to is granted.
Pros
High accuracy: Iris recognition is one of the maximum correct biometric strategies, with a really low false reputation rate (FAR).
Resistance to spoofing: Since the iris is an internal organ, it’s an awful lot tougher to copy than a fingerprint or a face, making it greater secure.
Stability through the years: Iris patterns stay unchanged during a person’s existence, ensuring consistent accuracy.
Cons
Cost: Iris scanners are greater costly than fingerprint or facial recognition structures.
User soreness: Some human beings can also find it uncomfortable to stare without delay right into a scanner, specially in public settings.
Environmental barriers: The scanner may additionally have difficulty in bright mild or if the consumer wears glasses or contact lenses.
Where It’s Used
Iris popularity is usually used in excessive-security environments, which includes authorities homes, airports, and army bases. Some smartphones and laptops additionally offer iris scanning as an alternative for unlocking devices.
3. Facial Recognition
Facial reputation has won substantial recognition in recent years, thanks in element to its adoption in smartphones and protection systems. This era makes use of the specific functions of a person’s face, including the space between the eyes or the shape of the jawline, to verify identification.
How It Works
Facial popularity structures use a camera to capture an picture of the character’s face. The gadget then analyzes particular facial capabilities and creates a virtual map based on the distance among key points, which include the eyes, nose, and mouth. The system compares this virtual map with saved templates to verify identification.
Pros
Convenience: Facial popularity is absolutely contactless, making it rapid and smooth to apply. You just need to observe the digicam.
Widespread adoption: Many cutting-edge smartphones and safety structures already encompass facial popularity technology.
Adaptability: Newer structures can apprehend faces even supposing the man or woman is sporting a hat, glasses, or facial hair, way to advances in synthetic intelligence.
Cons
Accuracy challenges: Changes in lighting fixtures, facial expressions, or even getting older can reduce the accuracy of facial reputation structures.
Privacy worries: Facial popularity has raised vast privateness issues, mainly in public spaces in which individuals may be monitored with out their knowledge.
Vulnerability to spoofing: Early facial reputation structures may be fooled by using snap shots or films, however more recent structures with 3-D imaging are tons more steady.
Where It’s Used
Facial popularity is now extensively utilized in smartphones, airports for passenger identification, retail for personalized advertising and marketing, and in public surveillance structures for protection functions.
Conclusion
Each biometric access manage gadget—fingerprint, iris, and facial reputation—has its very own strengths and weaknesses, making them suitable for distinctive situations. Fingerprint reputation offers affordability and pace, making it best for private and enterprise use. Iris popularity presents extraordinary accuracy and safety, ideal for excessive-protection environments. Facial recognition gives convenience and a contactless experience, making it an increasing number of popular in public and commercial settings.
As biometric get entry to manage structures continue to evolve, they may probably end up even extra correct, secure, and consumer-friendly, presenting an crucial layer of protection in an increasingly virtual international. Artificial Intelligence-Based Face Recognition
Current technology astounds people with incredible innovations that not only make life easier but also more pleasant. Face recognition has consistently shown to be the least intrusive and fastest form of biometric verification. To validate one's identification, the software compares a live image to a previously stored facial print using deep learning techniques. This technology's foundation is built around image processing and machine learning. Face recognition has gained significant interest from researchers as a result of human activity in many security applications such as airports, criminal detection, face tracking, forensics, and so on. Face biometrics, unlike palm prints, iris scans, fingerprints, and so on, can be non-intrusive.
They can be captured without the user's knowledge and then used for security-related applications such as criminal detection, face tracking, airport security, and forensic surveillance systems. Face recognition is extracting facial images from a video or surveillance camera. They are compared to the stored database. Face recognition entails training known photos, categorizing them with known classes, and then storing them in a database. When a test image is sent to the system, it is classed and compared to the stored database.
Tumblr media
Face recognition
Face recognition with Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a computer vision technique that identifies a person or object in an image or video. It employs a combination of deep learning, computer vision algorithms, and image processing. These technologies allow a system to detect, recognize, and validate faces in digital photos or videos. The technology has grown in popularity across a wide range of applications, including smartphone unlocking, door unlocking, passport verification, security systems, medical applications, and so on. Some models can recognize emotions through facial expressions.
Difference between Face recognition & Face detection
Face recognition is the act of identifying a person from an image or video stream, whereas face detection is the process of finding a face within an image or video feed. Face recognition is the process of recognizing and distinguishing people based on their facial characteristics. It uses more advanced processing techniques to determine a person's identity using feature point extraction and comparison algorithms. and can be employed in applications such as automatic attendance systems or security screenings. While face detection is a considerably easier procedure, it can be utilized for applications such as image labeling or changing the angle of a shot based on the recognized face. It is the first phase in the face recognition process and is a simpler method for identifying a face in an image or video feed.
Image Processing and Machine learning
Computer Vision is the process of processing images using computers. It focuses on a high-level understanding of digital images or movies. The requirement is to automate operations that human visual systems can complete. so, a computer should be able to distinguish items like a human face, a lamppost, or even a statue.
OpenCV is a Python package created to handle computer vision problems. OpenCV was developed by Intel in 1999 and later sponsored by Willow Garage.
Machine learning
Every Machine Learning algorithm accepts a dataset as input and learns from it, which essentially implies that the algorithm is learned from the input and output data. It recognizes patterns in the input and generates the desired algorithm. For example, to determine whose face is present in a given photograph, various factors might be considered as a pattern: The facial height and width. Height and width measurements may be unreliable since the image could be rescaled to a smaller face or grid. However, even after rescaling, the ratios stay unchanged: the ratio of the face's height to its width will not alter. Color of the face. Width of other elements of the face, such as the nose, etc
There is a pattern: different faces, such as those seen above, have varied dimensions. comparable faces share comparable dimensions. Machine Learning algorithms can only grasp numbers, making the task difficult. This numerical representation of a "face" (or an element from the training set) is known as a feature vector. A feature vector is made up of various numbers arranged in a specified order. As a simple example, we can map a "face" into a feature vector that can contain multiple features such as: Height of the face (in cm) Width of the face in centimeters Average hue of the face (R, G, B). Lip width (centimeters) Height of the nose (cm)
Essentially, given a picture, we may turn it into a feature vector as follows: Height of the face (in cm) Width of the face in centimeters Average hue of the face (RGB). Lip width (centimeters) Height of the nose (cm)
There could be numerous other features obtained from the photograph, such as hair color, facial hair, spectacles, and so on. 1. Face recognition technology relies on machine learning for two primary functions. These are listed below. Deriving the feature vector: It is impossible to manually enumerate all of the features because there are so many. Many of these features can be intelligently labeled by a machine learning system. For example, a complicated feature could be the ratio of nose height to forehead width. 2. Matching algorithms: Once the feature vectors have been produced, a Machine Learning algorithm must match a new image to the collection of feature vectors included in the corpus.
3. Face Recognition Operations
Face Recognition Operations
Facial recognition technology may differ depending on the system. Different software uses various ways and means to achieve face recognition. The stepwise procedure is as follows: Face Detection: To begin, the camera will detect and identify a face. The face is best recognized when the subject looks squarely at the camera, as this allows for easy facial identification. With technological improvements, this has advanced to the point that the face may be identified with a minor difference in posture when facing the camera.
Face Analysis: A snapshot of the face is taken and evaluated. Most facial recognition uses 2D photos rather than 3D since they are easier to compare to a database. Facial recognition software measures the distance between your eyes and the curve of your cheekbones. Image to Data Conversion: The face traits are now transformed to a mathematical formula and represented as integers. This numerical code is referred to as a face print. Every person has a unique fingerprint, just as they all have a distinct face print.
Match Finding: Next, the code is compared to a database of other face prints. This database contains photographs with identification that may be compared. The system then finds a match for your specific features in the database. It returns a match with connected information such as a name and address, or it depends on the information kept in an individual's database.
Conclusion In conclusion, the evolution of facial recognition technology powered by artificial intelligence has paved the way for ground breaking innovations in various industries. From enhancing security measures to enabling seamless user experiences, AI-based face recognition has proven to be a versatile and invaluable tool.

A biometric or biometric identifier is an objective measurement of a physical characteristic of an individual which, when captured in a database, can be used to verify the identity or check against other entries in the database. Biometric Identification Systems can be grouped based on the main physical characteristic that lends itself to biometric identification; Fingerprint identification, Hand geometry, Palm Vein Authentication, Retina scan, Iris scan, Face recognition, Signature, Voice analysis. A biometric ID is notably harder to fake. In the long run, biometric identification promises to provide the global citizen with a sound identity management system, which could develop quite independently of nation states. Of course one could argue that this would be a tragedy, and that an ID management solution controlled and operated by governments is absolutely essential in order for government agencies to provide the services citizens expect to receive and to guarantee the survival of the same notion of state. Many private employers also require biometric identification systems to control access to workplaces or as cheat-proof time clocks.
Whether you’re a startup or a multinational business, maintaining good attendance contributes to the company’s success. It also speaks volumes about your employees’ credibility and work ethic.
Moreover, attendance impacts your workplace in several other ways. For example, tardiness or the persistent absence of one employee can negatively impact employee morale.
That’s why the importance of attendance is quite high at work.
In this article, we’ll answer the question why is attendance important at work, discuss the key factors affecting work attendance, and learn how to address employee attendance issues.
We’ll also give handy tips to employers for improving employee attendance.
1. Poor work performance
2. Increased stress and lack of employee morale
3. Increased staff related costs
4. Workplace ethics issues
5. Animosity

How to Use Fingerprints
Tumblr media
What is a fingerprint?
The palmar surface of the human hand is covered by a particular type of skin with corrugated ridges narrow known as papillary peaks. These ridges are minute studded with sweat and friction ridges pores are the result of the assembly of these protruded sweat pores. A fingerprint is the exact reproduction of papillary ridges on top of the phalanx a finger.
Specialties fingerprints
Uniqueness - The provisions of ridges and their characteristics (minutiae) are unique. On the ridges of the finger, palm and sole of a person are forever different and distinct from the rest of the world.
Permanence - According to Dr. Harold Cummins, caps develop during the fourth month of fetal development and their peculiarities, will remain unchanged for its entire life, until death and complete decomposition of the body.
How fingerprints became the best means of personal identification
The fingerprints are unique in nature and permanently from birth to death. The dimensions of the body, color, quantity and quality of hair, skin, eye color, number and number of teeth, face and writing, May all be modified when we grow up. Your fingerprint Patten as a whole May be modified extensively, but the number of ridges, the nature of the ridge characteristics and their position on a finger remain unchanged. It has been proved by Sir Francis Galton that the ridges are persistent from birth until they are destroyed by decomposition after death. Fingerprint science uses only the number of ridges, ridge characteristics and their relative position on the finger to prove his identity.
The use of fingerprints on our daily lives
In criminal investigations. The fingerprints are the cheapest and best way to prove the identity of a criminal. Most cases of crime such as murder and theft cases are not an eyewitness or other evidence. Even the testimony of an eyewitness may be strongly challenged in a court of law. But you can never deny his presence at a crime scene if his fingerprints are collected. A fingerprint itself is conclusive evidence.
To prevent identity theft. The fingerprints can be included in the social security cards, passports, driving licences, bank accounts etc. to prevent unauthorized use.
To prove the identity of a corpse unidentified. Comparison of fingerprints is a way to prove the identity of a dead body when it is broken or mutilated, making it difficult to identify the person. It becomes useful when a disaster occurs or a war breaks out. The mutilated bodies of victims May be identified with the use of fingerprints earlier.
In biometrics-based electronic gadgets. Fingerprints plays an essential role in the manufacture of biometrics-based electronic gadgets, such as security systems door, finger printing systems locking door access control systems, automatic coffers, attendance systems fingerprints digital fingerprints of security systems, etc. Click now Plano Texas fingerprinting
Faces can lie, fingerprints are never
Most people in our society does not realize the importance of science dent in modern life. Former Chief Superintendent of the Bureau of fingerprints at New Scotland Yard, Mr. Fred Cheril, said in his autobiography "The fingerprints do not lie", fingerprints always tell the truth. But they may do so only in their own language and we can not hope to understand how they reveal the truth, without having a unique knowledge of this science. Thousands of identifying fingerprints are taken around the world on a daily basis.

The Strange Murder of Amber Creek
Amber Creek was born on July 2, 1982 in Park Ridge, Illinois. Initially she lived with her mother, Elizabeth - a coke addict whose new boyfriend turned out to be a paedophile. When Amber revealed the abuse at age six, the state removed her from her mother's care and sent her to live with her father, Robert, in nearby Palatine.
Though plagued by her horrible memories, Amber seemed to heal with time. But the peace she found was only to be temporary, a Band-Aid placed over a gaping wound in her soul that refused to heal. At age fourteen Amber was struck down by severe depression. She began to sneak out at night and at other times run away, desperately trying to fill the void in her life with booze, drugs and sex.
In December 1996 Amber's therapist recommended residential therapy. He knew that they were at a crucial stage where they were battling to save Amber's life. Unable to pay for the pricey residential therapy, and with the state refusing to take Amber into their care whilst Robert was providing safe, adequate care, Robert made a desperate Hail Mary play to rescue his daughter from the brink of self-destruction – he dropped her off at the local police station, telling officers that she could no longer live with him. This forced the state to take custody of Amber.
Unable to house her with a foster family, Amber was placed in a Chicago youth shelter. At that time, Amber changed her appearance drastically.
Amber would not stay put, running away nine times over the next six weeks. However she would always return after no more than a few days. That was until January 23, 1997 when Amber ran for the final time. Homeless and alone, she turned to prostitution to survive. On February 1, 1997 Amber attended a boozy party at a seedy motel with a group of men in Rolling Meadows. She left the party with a man, a stranger, never to be seen alive again.
On February 9, 1997 two hunters roaming near a marsh in the Karcher Wildlife Area in Burlington, Wisconsin made a grisly find. Amber's frozen corpse sat posed against a tree with her arm raised up high, seemingly waving to them. She had been beaten and raped. The word 'Hi' was written on the palm of the waving hand in black marker and a $5 price tag was stuck to her arm. A garbage bag which had been used to suffocate her was still covering Amber's head. Underneath the bag a vicious wound from a human bite marked her neck. She was nude from the waist down. Her pants were later found in a nearby parking lot with her underwear balled up in a pocket.
The police failed to identify Amber, partly due to the youth shelter not reporting her as missing until five weeks after she ran away and then providing the wrong girl's photograph when they finally did. 'Jane Doe' was buried in a casket donated by a local man, with sheriff's deputies as pallbearers and one hundred locals in attendance at her funeral. These people were unknown to Amber but were touched by her story. Amber was finally identified more than a year later after America's Most Wanted ran the story and Robert Creek contacted police after viewing the episode. Formal identification was achieved through dental records and DNA matching. Amber was reburied under a headstone now bearing her real name.
With few leads to follow up on, the case went cold. Police were, however, convinced that Amber had been killed by one of her clients. It was not until February 2014, seventeen years after Amber's murder, that detectives finally caught a break in the case.
An Oklahoma crime lab was reviewing old cold case fingerprints when the system got a hit on a thumbprint from the garbage bag at the crime scene that matched a 36-year-old Palatine man named James Eaton. He had been nineteen at the time of Amber's murder and was unknown to police at the time. His fingerprints had not entered the system until a 2000 arrest for minor drug charges.
Police tailed Eaton for days, eventually recovering cigarette butts he had discarded outside a train station and using DNA matching to tie him to the crime scene. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and hiding a corpse in early April 2014. Although he never confessed, and originally pleaded not guilty in October 2014, Eaton later entered a plea of no contest to a reduced charge of first-degree reckless homicide on October 25, 2016. He faces up to forty years in prison and is due to be sentenced on January 20, 2017.

72 Hours
You only have 72 hours to detain Steve Rogers. He’s the only opportunity you can get to find out what happened and why half of the population mysteriously disappeared.
Tumblr media
word count: 3,168
tags: eventual dark!steve rogers and non-con; however, none much in this chapter but plot and interaction
    Things escalated so quickly.
    Ever since half of the world population had suddenly disappeared, which left fewer people walking around the streets of Manhattan, your job had become stressful yet so useless. The rest of the investigative crew are close to giving up and adapting to what has been left.
    Meanwhile, here you were. Neither convinced nor ready to accept the fact that most of your friends and family have vanished.
    Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. By now, the withdrawal is coming close to a year and a half. Yet the clues you have gathered merely comprises for a month of effort.
    “You should be giving up on this already.” Two of your colleagues walk behind you, either of them comforting your bothered state by rubbing your back as a gesture to cheer up. The hint of hopelessness in their tone bothers you more than their initial intention.
    “I doubt you will be solving one of the biggest mysteries of the world yet,” they state with an implication of humor before pulling back. From the corner of your vision, you could see their jackets folded neatly and hung on top of their arms. Just as their uniforms remained pressed, it conveys that they were already prepared to check out of their shift.
    “But hey, if you do solve it, let us know. We’ll be more than supportive and grateful for your efforts, Agent.”
    “Thanks. I hope so,” your voice was soft, resisting to show any sign of weakness or vulnerability despite on the verge of breaking down on the inside.
    Within a few minutes, the office was left noiseless. Most of the officers who had day shifts proceeded to depart by the hour until you and two others have remained.
    For you, it did not matter whether you got paid for overtime from your original schedule. Since you did not have anyone to look forward to when coming home, you preferred to spend most of your hours at work, searching for a way to somehow bring them back.
    The chances were so odd and slim. The fact that all your families and friends near your location were wiped out. You could not do anything since you did not know who caused all this disaster, let alone the reasons behind the disappearances.
    As your elbows were resting on top of your desk, your head fell onto both your palms. A big sigh was released from your lips countless times already. This wasn’t just getting lonely anymore, you were obsessing over something that was far from your reach.
    The plain screensaver of the bureau’s logo was dancing over your desktop. Along with several pictures, specifically one or more for each member of the well-known extra-terrestrial fighting group of Avengers. Their superhero names were scribbled with red ink and pinned onto a small corkboard.
    Tony Stark.
    The name haunted you to your dreams. The billionaire who brought good and bad things into New York City.
     You are not entirely sure why your guts were forcing you to focus on this man amongst the rest of his alliance. But you were just desperate to cling onto any evidence blindly hanging in front of you.
    For the entirety of the event, you haven’t had a single report about him. Assuming that he’s been trying to hide from this mess, you tried contacting other bureaus from across the world in search of the man. For months of being very pushy, you have only been getting the same phrases like a broken record.
    ‘I’m sorry, Agent.’
    ‘No. We haven’t had any reports about Tony Stark.’
    ‘My crew has been trying their best, but there aren’t any traces of him.’
    ‘We assure you we’ll find him sooner or later, Agent.’
    ‘Please be patient, we don’t have much manpower here anymore.’
    For months, you have been at the edge of your seat. Eager to answer the phone at the first ring. If it’s not considered patient then soon enough it’s going to run out. You did not know what backup plan you have once that does happen though.
    Maybe going crazy would ironically be the sanest thing to happen.
    Nevertheless, you will eventually cross that bridge when you get there. For now, the only option you have is to overwork yourself to the edge of insanity.
    “A long day you got there, Agent?” A subordinate of yours passes by with two cups of coffee in her hand. She sets down the other right beside your computer screen and glances at the pictures splayed across your work area.
    You groan, a frown still evident as you sat up straight before replying, “Oh tell me about it, I’ve had the longest year.”
    She gave you a warm smile, like always around this time of evening. Though only being hired recently after a month of the mysterious disappearing arc, she continued to attend to her shift and adapt as the others would. And despite almost a year of greeting, and often bringing you a cup of coffee, you never really gave any of your attention to her.
    This time though, you looked back just as she was about to leave. You were quick enough to get a glance of her name plastered on her identification card connected to a lanyard that draped around her collar.
    Agent Maria Hill.
    “Agent Hill,” you addressed her. She turned around with a smile, looking neatly as ever with her hair combed and pinned in a neat bun.
    “Yes?”
    "Thanks for the coffee, like every night." Your gratitude combines with a warming smile that reaches out for her. Though appearing exhausted from staring at a screen and documents for hours, you tried to look your best when facing her.
    "It's no big deal." Her reply trails down to murmur a few indistinctive words that you merely brushed off, assuming that it was nothing but a nice gesture.
    Before her figure could entirely exit the vicinity of your workplace, you swiftly chirped, "And thanks for being so nice to me!" A chuckle was heard from her, leaving off with a smile as she walked away without responding anything in return.
    Immediately, your mood shifted again returning to your usual distressed state of mind.
    The coffee you drank earlier was wearing off from your system. You could drink the cup your colleague had offered, but you figured it could not do much now that your body could only harbor caffeine to such an extent. A twelve-hour shift with merely half an hour of lunch break would not leave you, or anyone, at best. By sooner, your eyelids were getting heavy, risking to doze off at work.
    Your fingers reached to move your mouse, dragging the cursor along with the useless mail your inbox has been receiving. Each of them took that least bit of hope of finding Stark, making you feel caged and haunted every day as there is not any progress in a year.
    Again, you groan, louder this time. Other agents around could have heard you yet shrugged your frustration casually since they have witnessed it for months. You ball your fists and slam it against your desk, rough enough to make a sound echo throughout the room, but not enough to break it into two.
    “Fuck, I need the rest,” you admit to yourself.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚
    24 hours
    Days have passed. Like usual – nothing.
    As always, your routine started just as you were walking to the agency. However, amidst peacefully walking at the pavement, trying to get even a hint of peace of mind, the phone tucked inside the pocket of your jacket started ringing.
    The name of your agency was the first thing you have noticed as you faced the small screen. Moreover, you did not hesitate to slide the green phone button to answer.
    “Hel”
    Just as you were about to offhandedly greet the person at the other line, they made their way to cut the conversation fearfully.
    “They found him! They found him, Agent!” The fearful yet impressed tone was evident, and eventually, you realized that the familiar voice belonged to Agent Hill.
    Nonetheless, your mind started wandering to different scenarios, jumping to conclusions like a kid. Despite barely hearing anything other than they caught someone, you were sure looking as joyful as ever. It was as if every bit of hope you lost each week have been restored.
    For a short while of daydreaming, you have recovered quickly. Moreover, inquire about the context of what she’s trying to refer to. “What do you mean you’ve found him, Hill?”
    Your heart raced quickly. The tension behind finding out who it was was far from the reality of it being a pause for mere seconds.
    Please say you have found Stark. Your mind could only pray harder for those words to be repeated from the other end of the call.
    “The team found one of the members of the Avengers,” she answers.
    “Which one of them?”
    “It’s Steve Rogers.”
    Your world partly crumbled after hearing a different name compared to what you were expecting. Nevertheless, happy enough that you were progressing on the vision you have laid out.
    “Hold on, I’ll be at the station in a few minutes.” You assert, turning around the corner of a street you were approaching. From here, there was a fair five-minute jog until your office. Considering that it was early morning, you did not hesitate to start speeding your pace.
    Right now, as if things escalated so quickly
    Once you arrived, you passed vacant offices until reaching the interrogation room. The other officers were gathered outside it, facing the two-way mirror that displayed the known Captain America.
    Maria Hill was standing closest to the mirror. Getting the best view of the super-soldier sitting peacefully inside the room. You approached her with a confused look upon your face.
    “How did you even find him?”
    “It’s a long story, there were two of them though we could only catch up with Mr. Rogers,” she explains.
    “Alright.” You motioned for your other colleagues to return to their original tasks. Both you and Agent Hill were left, given privacy to talk about what should be done.
    “Give me a moment with him, I’ll try to see what information we can get.” Agent Hill nods at you and hands over a folder. She gestures for you to take a step inside the room and reassures that she will be outside to act as a witness.
    As you enter the room, it felt colder in addition to the resentful stare coming from Captain America himself. His gaze does not leave you, following your trail up until you reach the metal chair and take a seat in front of him.
    Your back begins to sweat even after barely interacting with him. You did not know what could happen. For all you know, he could rip his handcuffs and beat your face over the table.
    Nonetheless, you tried to look as assertive as possible. Adjusting your posture to feel comfier in your seat and clasped both palms of your hands over each other. You look in front, seeing the man still staring at you.
    You took a deep breath to prepare yourself “Nice to see you in Manhattan again, Mr. Rogers.” Your voice was close to breaking, but you disregarded it. This is your nearest encounter with a superhero, so it would be normal for anyone to feel pressured.
    The soldier raises one eyebrow at your greeting. He pulls back and slumps on his chair, acting as if he’s the one probing the detainee. “Been keeping track of me, ma’am?”
    The tone of his voice instantly became cocky. Even so, smirking while his gaze shifts from the floor and back at you.
    “I have been keeping track of the Avengers for these past months,” you affirm. To prevent a boost of ego in his system, you also added, “But I wasn’t specifically keeping my eye on you, Captain.”
    He imitates an offended look, placing one of his cuffed hands over his left chest. “Ouch. Was expecting a pretty woman like you tracking down America’s Golden Boy.”
    “Nonetheless, do tell me which one of us were you looking for. Is it Stark?” You tried to ignore his mood swings. The sudden change of being quiet, then proceeding to act hurt, and now seeming provoked even if you had not given any answers yet.
    You figured it was best to ignore his question.
    “Mr. Rogers, may I know what you were doing here in Manhattan and who you were with–”
    “I asked you a question first,” he reminds.
    “Look, sir, I don’t think it will help if I’m the one answering questions here,” you sigh. “So if you could please cooperate with us.”
    “Cooperate? Why would I?” He scoffs. “You can only detain me here for seventy-two hours at most. Considering that you have no evidence against me, you can only hope to pray for a miracle.”
    His attitude was not at all welcoming. Your blood started to boil at the man seated in front of you, acting as if he is completely innocent about all this.
    “Is it true that you aren’t withholding any information about the disappearance of half of the world population?” You argue with a brow raised at him.
    “I know nothing,” the man answers.
    “And if you do know something, that’s obstruction of justice. You know that right, Captain?”
    He smiles faintly. This time he breaks his stare, looking at the floor while answering, “Yes I do, ma’am. Very well.”
    His expressions were starting to drive you crazy. You were used to this kind of scenario back when things were normal. Though after the events transpired, it has been a year without you interrogating someone who was held inside this room. You’ve gotten subpar upon looking like an intimidating officer.
    “Okay then.” You nod, “Can you explain to me why you and your accomplice tried to run away from the cops.”
    “We didn’t,” he said, ever so boldly. “Your friend, over there, spotted us and tried to cuff us immediately. Which one of you thought that was a good idea?”
   Your gaze follows onto the large mirror placed near the door of the room. You could only see both you and Steve Rogers, but you knew Agent Hill was at the other side listening to your conversation.
    “Look, half of the population mysteriously disappeared,” you sigh in between, “it’s not something a normal person would be able to perform. Can you blame us for following up on the Avengers?”
    “I guess not then, ma’am.” He nods, accepting your statement. “Still won’t change the fact that I have no idea about all these disappearances, yeah?”
    “Right, then tell me who were you with before Agent Hill decided to detain you here.” You lean back while crossing both your arms against your chest. Your teeth lightly bit the insides of your cheeks as you tried to hold out a frustrated sigh.
    “Well, I was with Nat,”
    “Nat? Natasha Romanoff?” You raise your chin, intrigued to find out more. “Five-foot five, Russian assassin, shoulder-length vermillion hair, Natasha Romanoff?”
    “That’s impressively accurate.” Steve Rogers chuckles in front of you again before adding, “Except that she’s blonde now.”
    You tried to take in a few minutes to grasp the information. The silence prods through your thoughts as you analyze the possibilities, perceiving that maybe, just maybe, you’re a few steps closer to Tony Stark.
    But the man disrupted your thoughts, “Still don’t know why you’re holding us custody despite all this. You won’t get anything, might as well cut to the chase.”
    “You’re quite a smart-mouth there, Captain.”
    “And you’re quite eager to find about Stark, Agent,” he mocks. You throw your head back in defeat. This was going nowhere and both of you knew it.
    Instead, you push against the table so you could finally stand up. You rest both your palms flat against the cold metal table, arms stretched wide to balance your weight out.     “I think that’s enough for today.” You grab the untouched folder before turning to your side to walk towards the door. “Thank you for trying to cooperate with us, Mr. Rogers.”
    As you head out, you noticed that Agent Hill was already out of sight. She most likely headed to do her job rather than to stand and watch you and Steve exchange nonsense.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚
    As you get home, you dressed into casual home clothes and headed to bed.
    You could not entirely fall asleep. The super-soldier was stuck in your mind, frustrating you into the depths of it.
    You tried to ponder, grabbing the folder of compiled documents that Agent Hill handed you over earlier. As you opened it, the first layer of it was pictures of Steve Roger’s face throughout the week. You guessed that they were not just trailing him today, but also studied his moves for the past week.
    Furthermore, you flipped through pictures of him and his crew, but they looked like they were not in taken in New York. It was dark and the faces of Steve, Natasha, two other persons in the background could be seen fairly.
    “Huh.” You furrowed your eyebrows realizing that there were more details about them that you expected. For a while also wondering why Hill did not updated you about these at least.
    But eventually you acknowledged that you were so busy figuring out information about Tony Stark, that you forgot that the other superheroes he has worked with were just as significant.
    Steve Rogers. Natasha Romanoff. Sam Wilson.     Location: Edinburgh, Scottland     21:32. April 2018
    Steve Rogers. Natasha Romanoff.     Location: Manhattan, New York     13:05. October 2019
    His beard remained almost the same despite the year difference. His golden hair was brushed backed sleekly. His appearance was still alike a year ago which meant that he was trying to maintain that kind of appearance
    Compared to his clean, shaved aura back in 2012, you can admit that he looks way more intimidating now. You did not know whether he was trying to look different to prevent the bureau from recognizing him or if it was because he wanted to look like some creepy degenerate.
    Nonetheless, there were a lot of questions running around your mind. It was only tonight when you finally got to grasp on who and what you’re dealing with.
    However, your comprehensive scanning was interrupted after hearing a tap on your window. It did not sound as terrifying as it would, but it was loud enough to interrupt your thoughts from getting further.
    In the end, you set the files on top of your nightstand and switched on your lamp. You lay in your bed, eyes sealed shut yet your mind still wanders off, trying to fit together the pieces of the puzzle.
    When drifting to sleep, the most evident question strayed:
    Why was Steve Rogers, and his team, staying in Manhattan, despite hiding completely undisturbed in Edinburgh?

Superior Specimen – Chapter 2
 You were thankful you were on the late shift the next day, you’d taken matters into your own hands again whilst in bed the night before, using your fingers and toys to make yourself cum again and again, each time images of Henry clouding your mind. Your stomach muscles ached from the amount of times you’d abused them with powerful orgasms, but it gave you a pleasant reminder as you trotted up the steps to the staff entrance of the museum.
 With your personal belongings secured in your locker, your name badge and security pass clipped to the chest of your blouse, you made your way through the building until you reached the main atrium… and stopped.
 To your surprise the place was packed, not just with visitors, but with staff setting out velvet ropes and areas to control the crowds. Squeezing past a large group of excited school kids and their teachers you finally made it to the desk, raising an eyebrow at your co-worker;
 “What’s going on?”
 “It’s that presentation today… you know, the new dig that found the new species of Theropod. They’re announcing the plans for the new installation in a few weeks, got most of the archaeologists that were on the Russian expedition here today too”
 “Oh… I had forgotten that was today” you were surprised at yourself for forgetting, it had after all been on the staff agenda for a couple of weeks. Your co-worker handed you a printout of the days schedule, and glancing down it you saw a few points for the preparation that hadn’t yet been crossed off; “Do they still need the handouts in the presentation space?”
 “Oh yeah… someone’ll need to run them up in a few minutes”
 “I’ll take them”
 “Great” your co-worker turned and smiled at more visitors that were heading towards the desk whilst you bent down and checked through the boxes of various leaflets and handouts that were stored under the desk, only hearing her as she spoke to whoever had arrived;
 “Dr Cavill, so good to see you back again”
 “Oh, you know, it’s good to be back in these old hallways, feels like home”
 You froze, you recognised that voice. Your co-worker tapped you on your shoulder;
 “Hey, get up here, I need to introduce you!” she said excitedly.
 Taking a deep breath you stood and turned, straightening your blouse as you watched Henry look at you and the realisation hit of who you were, he however managed to hide it well, just a faint blush dusting across his face as he held out a large hand to you;
 “It’s a pleasure to meet you”
 Taking it you tried not to smirk - or giggle, laugh, or cry - as you shook his hand, unable to get over how huge it was and how it practically swamped your own average sized one;
 “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Sir”
 Noticing how he seemed to suck one cheek in, as if biting it from the inside, he nodded to the box you had previously lifted onto the desk;
 “Everything sorted for the presentation?”
“Just need to get the handouts into the displays on the 3rd floor”
 “Here, let me carry that for you”
 As the pair of you walked up the main staircase beside each other, the crowds seem to part like a sea as Henry headed towards them, the heavy box of paper tucked under one arm as he carried it with ease. Once you reached the third floor he made straight for the presentation area, unclipping the velvet rope with his free hand and letting you pass, before hooking it back again behind the pair of you.
 In the quiet vestibule of the upper floor you could see where large screens hung from the ceiling, projectors in the roof rolling a series of slideshows of the dig and the finds, and plans for the new exhibition. He slid the box onto the table before turning, his hands on your hips as he pushed you against the wall, hidden from view. Without a word his lips were on yours and you were opening willingly as his tongue pushed against them, tasting you. His grip on your hips was gentle yet firm, and as he slid his hands up your torso his thumbs pressed against the underside of your breasts through your clothing, and yet the heat from them almost seared your skin. Your senses were bombarded by him, by his touch, by the feel of his hard body against you, by the rich warm tones of his aftershave.The arousal in you was already building, and as you involuntarily clenched your stomach muscles you let out a whimper causing Henry to pull away;
 “Are you ok? Was that too much too soon?”
 Resting a hand on the back of his neck you smiled at him;
 “No, not too much… but you’re turning me on and my stomach hurts from making myself come so many times last night thinking of you…”
 “Oh… well how about…”
 Suddenly he spun you 180º, his arms wrapping around your body before he splayed his huge hands out over your stomach, the heat of his palms soothing your aching muscles like a walking heat pad, holding you tight to his body as his lips brushed against your ear;
 “Can’t have you hurting Princess”
 “Hmmn, no we can’t”
 He pressed a series of light kisses to your earlobe and the side of your neck and you found yourself grinding your ass back against the growing bulge that was pressing against you. Clearing your throat your voice was quiet as you spoke;
 “You didn’t say you were attached to the Museum”
 “I’m sorry...” he slowly turned you until you were facing him; “I should have said from the start, I’m on the board of directors… it was wrong, but there you were, so damn beautiful, unbelievably smart… your comments on the digs feed helped with so many identifications, and then you get a job at the same museum…”
 “I guess it’s something we should probably talk about more, but I’m going to need to be getting back to my job soon, Sir”
 Henry let out a low growl at the use of 'Sir', pulling you flush with his body;
 “I’ll look forward to you calling me Sir outside of work soon”
 “Promises promises…”
 You grinned and kissed him again, before pulling away and glancing down, smirking when you saw the impressive swelling at the front of the khaki trousers;
 “You might need to calm down before the press sees you, Sir”
 He lightly swatted your ass, his handspan covering an entire buttcheek;
 “You get back to the desk, I’ll sort the handouts… call you later?”
 Nodding you grinned and turned the corner, ducking under the velvet rope and smiling to yourself as you returned to your duties.
 -
 The day had flown by and even on the late shift the Museum was busy right up to closing time, the front doors closed to stop any more visitors from entering, and you made an announcement over the public address system in multiple languages that any remaining visitors would need to leave within the following 30 minutes. Setting the handset back onto the cradle you sighed and sat down in the chair, your co-worker smiling at you;
 “A few of us are going for drinks after work, fancy coming?”
 With a smile you nodded;
 “Sounds good”
 At that moment you looked up and saw Henry descending the large staircase, surrounded by a group of VIP’s that had attended the presentation. They paused in the foyer under the Blue Whale skeleton that hung from the ceiling, whilst Henry approached your desk with a smile;
 “Afternoon Ladies, would you be able to arrange a cab for our group of VIP's? They have a booking for dinner”
 With a smile you nodded and dialled for the corporate booking line of Addison Lee, arranging for two 8-seater mini-buses to collect from the side street of the Museum. As you went through the details on the phone Henry made small talk with your colleague;
 “I hope the presentation didn’t make you lovely ladies too busy today?”
 “Not at all Dr Cavill, we had a huge number of people sign up for the newsletter release”
 He nodded;
 “We’ll arrange for a few of bottles of champers for your team today”
 She grinned and nodded to you;
 “Oh, we’re more Gin girl’s Dr Cavill, we’re hitting Soho tonight”
 He let out a low laugh as you hung up, sliding the requisition approval form across the desk;
 “If you could just sign the expense approval form, Sir”
 Signing the form, you watched as his hands moved slowly and surely, before handing the pen back to you;
 “Don’t get into too much trouble then Ladies”
 “Only a little bit…” you grinned.
 -
 Your evening had been fun. In the deep summer London heat the group of you had eaten outside a small street-food place before heading to a lively bar, and three double gin & tonic’s later you were standing on the patio as the sun started to set over the noisy city. Finishing your drink you announced you were heading home, one of your co-workers agreeing as you were both on shift tomorrow - although the late one - and said your goodbyes to everyone else.
 As you wove your way through the busy nightlife of Soho, you saw the taxi rank ahead and escorted your co-worker there, hailing her a cab as she giggled in her drunken state. Giving the driver her address as she crawled into the back seat, she insisted she would message you once home, and you were relieved you’d managed to snag a female cab driver for her. Turning and waving her off you smiled when you looked down the taxi rank and saw Henry surrounded by a group of somewhat inebriated VIP’s, trying to organise them but having little success. Seeing you he gave you puppy dog eyes and mouthed ‘help’, and you approached with a grin on your face;
 “Dr Cavill, was a lovely surprise Sir… you seem to be having a spot of trouble though…”
 The group surrounding him started to recognise you, having signed most of them in for their visit to the Museum earlier, and were greeted by a chorus of drunken hello’s. Henry called out over the top of the drunken rabble;
 “I’m trying to get them into cabs, but the cabs will only drop off at one place”
 “Leave it with me” you winked at him before whistling loudly with two fingers to get the crowd’s attention; “Where is everyone staying?”
 Through everyone talking at the same time you gathered that most were at The Dorchester, whilst some had opted for the Hilton at Marble Arch. You quickly started to herd the VIP’s into black cabs, speaking to the drivers and getting them to arrange with the valets at each hotel to have the fares billed to the VIP’s rooms.
 When the last cab pulled away Henry stood beside you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders;
 “That was amazing, you did in 5 minutes what I’d spent half an hour trying to do”
 Turning you realised you face was inches from his, and the kiss that followed was natural and tender, his hand straying to your hip where he pulled you flush with his body.
 When you finally broke apart you both had huge grins plastered across your faces, his voice deep and rough;
 “Let me buy you a drink”
 “Just one… I’ve had a few already and actually have to work tomorrow”
 “Just the one” he promised, slipping his huge hand around yours, and you walked hand in hand to a nearby bar.

  CHAPTER 62
 “Hey Claire! We’re here,” Karen exclaimed enthusiastically as the two girls’ taxicab pulled up outside the hottest nightspot in town, The Triangle nightclub.
Getting out of the cab, Claire took in her surroundings, and the club appeared to be a refurbished warehouse in a trendy area of Hong Kong. It was a sleek modern three storey building with a triangular shaped roof with steel beams intersected in the same shape jutting out under the roof line. A large neon sign graced the front of the building again in a triangular shape advertising the nightclub’s name which blinked on and off at intervals alluding to what the premises was used for.  It was very impressive and the glows from the muted ground lighting led the way to where two burley bouncers were standing vetoing those who wanted entrance to the establishment.
The two women excitedly made their way toward the club and joined the line of patient patrons cordoned off beside a succession of velvet ropes that stretched along the footpath. The vibe was already lively for those waiting to gain entry and Claire could only imagine that inside would be similar.  Several couples started hugging each other in excitement as the queue began to move forward happy that they were getting closer to the entrance.  There were beautiful young girls dressed in provocative mini dresses eager to enter and see what conquests the night would bring and then there were the male patrons who could be seen eyeing off the girls in line. Karen turned to Claire, rolled her eyes and smiled as they studied the dynamics of the people queued up.  Whenever a patron was let in through the double doors, they could hear the powerful beat of the dance music blaring from inside the nightclub. Laser lights were seen rapidly changing colours in the windows as well showing that there was one heck of a party going on inside.
As Karen and Claire edged closer to the front of the queue, it was obvious that The Triangle enforced a dress code to ensure that a certain type of clientele was in attendance at the venue.  All the hip young Hong Kong clubbers were dressed to impress as too were the two friends. The Triangle certainly was the place to be seen as was evidenced by people being turned away. They noticed the crestfallen looks of one couple banned for wearing sneakers and jeans who were denied entry to the club by the door bouncers.
“Are you excited?” Karen asked enthusiastically glancing at Claire.
“I am.  Thanks for asking me.”
“This is the trendiest new nightclub in town and although it’s only been opened a little while it’s busy every night.”
“How do you know all that Karen?”
She leaned in and smiled spiritedly, “Because my boyfriend is in the band playing tonight.”
“Ah. So that’s why where here? To hear your boyfriend’s band?  And here I thought this was just going to be a girls’ night out,” Claire laughed in response.
“Of course, that’s why Claire, but not the only reason,” she answered with a bemused grin on her face, “And it’s because … I really, really want you to meet him.”
“Well then, I hope they let us inside so that I can meet ...?”
“Andrew ... Andy Ma.”
“What does he do in the band?”
Karen gave Claire an enigmatic smile. “He plays the guitar and other things.”
“Sounds intriguing. Is he any good at these other things?”
“What?” Karen replied a little taken aback by her questions.
“Is he a good guitar player?” Claire clarified looking at her friend.
“I think he is, but I’ll let you be the judge of that once we are inside.”
Since they had been standing in line, the queue had grown longer and stretched as far as the eye could see, nonetheless they gradually moved closer to the front of the line as they waited to enter.  Finally, it came to their turn.  When they approached the two muscular security bouncers at the main door who were screening those who they would let enter into the nightclub, the two women smiled broadly.
“Hello ... Jimmy.”
The very large, stoic man showed little emotion. “Hey Karen ... You here to see Andy again?”
“Yeah ... but this time it’s a surprise for my friend.”
The bouncer gave Claire the once over as he ran a handheld  metal detector over her body,  then did the same to Karen.
“Sorry ladies but I need to see some I.D.  Not you Karen but your friend here ... I will need to see your identification lady. Legal reasons you know.”
“Sure.”
“I need to see your phone too.”
“Why?” Claire requested for explanation.
“We have a strict no photo policy in order to protect the clubbing experience of our patrons.”
Rummaging in her purse she drew out her driver’s licence and her phone.  The bouncer gave the licence a perfunctory glance but he placed some tape over the smart phone camera lens before giving it back to her.
“Is that all?”
‘Yes, you are free to enter now.  Enjoy yourselves and Andy’s performance.”
“Thanks Jimmy:
“Come on Claire. Let's go in and have some fun."
“Yes let’s.” Claire replied as the two friends made their way inside The Triangle nightclub for an evening of revelry.
 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Claire’s eyes had to adjust to the darkness after first entering the club and when they did, she slowly glanced around inside. The two girls stood on a platform overlooking the main area with a curved stairwell leading down to the main dance floor.  The interior of The Triangle was grand, opulent and so massive. It was very impressive and certainly was a trendy and upscale establishment with luxurious furnishings and expensive décor.
It featured a sunken dance floor and upstairs there was a balcony with large banquette style booths to sit and chill in. There was another grand double staircase leading up to the balcony plus the one down to where people were dancing, awesome lights and mirror balls hung from a high ceiling, there was a photo booth, a DJ section and a large stage where a live band was playing.   Claire wondered if that was Karen’s boyfriend’s band, if so then they had the crowd in the palm of their hands.  There was also a long lit up bar that took up one whole wall and a smaller, more intimate bar on the balcony level.
Obviously, it was the place for celebrities, movie stars and the well-heeled to hang out.  What stood out too were the neon signs aligned on the walls and the large signage with The Triangle name emblazed in lights.  There were multiple levels for action and interaction, and Claire noticed that patrons were jiving to the music in the dimly lit interior. It appeared that Jonathon Randall had done his homework and The Triangle was a very lucrative nightclub for it was obvious that business was booming. It was very crowded tonight and clearly, he had a great investment that would more than likely bring in a considerable amount of revenue.
It was evident too, that The Triangle had a fast-paced, loud, and raucous atmosphere. The music was even louder than what they had heard whilst waiting outside and seemed to reverberate through Claire’s whole body.  The pulsing beat of the bass frequencies coming through the huge sound system almost felt like her spine was turned into a vibrator that shook her entire body. Making a quick summation of her surroundings, she noted several things that stood out. The blaring bass, amplified through the speakers from the guitarist on stage seemed to make the room shake as dancing bodies tangled together.  She also noticed that people had crowded the bar area as well where guys were buying a few drinks to muster up the courage to speak to a hot girl. If some of the patrons were taking drugs it was difficult to say given the emotional high and happy atmosphere that was evident as soon as they had walked in the door.
Karen too, looked around at those gathered, then she glanced at Claire exclaiming happily, “Electrifying isn’t?”
The music was loud, very loud and the two girls could hardly hear themselves speak.  “What?”
Laughing, she repeated her words a little louder this time, “I said it’s exciting.”
“It is,” Claire replied leaning in and nearly shouting her answer at Karen’s ear.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Making their way down the staircase into the hub of the action, they were surrounded by bodies everywhere on the dance floor and the pounding rhythm of the music from the live band had the crowd pumping with excitement. The revellers seemed to be having the time of their lives as they either danced on the different levels of The Triangle to the pulsating live music, or stood listening to the band play on the stage and moshing with arms thrusting in the air and head-banging to their favourite songs of the five-man group.
You couldn’t really see the dance floor as it was wall to wall people bopping to the rhythm. The whole scene seemed so exciting and couples on the dance floor were engaged in all types of dancing rituals from the sexual mating of attraction to the uninhibited dance movements like no one was watching them. Beautiful women and handsome men were checking out each other no doubt canvassing for a sexual partner for later in the night, while others were trying to engage in conversation in some of the quiet areas set apart around the dance floor.
The atmosphere was electric.  Laser lights illuminated the dance floor, and light reflected off the large mirror covered disco balls hanging from the ceiling, danced across the walls.  Multicoloured strobe lighting, rigged to follow the music, blinked on and off while changing colours to the beat of the music.  The light shows only intensified the experience of the revellers, for those dancing looked like they were moving in slow motion. Moving light beams flashed from the stage and the smoke billowing from the smoke machine only complicated visibility.  However, there was just enough light for Claire to make out faces in the crowd and she adjusted her glasses to activate her surveillance of the patrons for Fergus’ benefit back at Section One. But as yet, she could not make out anyone of significance.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Karen and Claire cautiously made their way through the crowd and across the dance floor as best they could. They were jostled from time to time from those dancing but they managed to make headway through the crowd if they stayed on the periphery.   Karen lead the way, however, in the loud atmosphere it was nearly impossible to hear anything but the music and a few random snippets of shouted conversation from each other. Tapping Claire on the shoulder Karen pointed to some seating across the room.  “See that empty booth over there,” she practically shouted as her voice was drowned out in the noise.
“Yeah.”
“If we get separated … I’ll meet you there. Okay?”
Claire nodded that she had understood her instructions as she unobtrusively cast her eyes around the venue ever vigilant.  She also activated a camera hidden in her necklace, to provide Section One with a broader view of the interior of the club.  She surveyed the crowd for anyone that stood out as well as noting where the security guards were posted around the venue.  Glancing up to the balcony she noticed members of the security team watching inconspicuously over the clubbers below.  However, the two women unfortunately did get separated from each other in the crowd and Claire got swept up in the revelry taking place on the dance floor. She felt a hand reach out of nowhere from between the gyrating bodies, cop a feel of her derriere, and then vanish as quickly as it appeared.  If the move was intentional or accidental it still caused her to glance around to see if anyone looked suspicious.
Casing the crowd for any anomalies, Claire’s nose was assaulted by the familiar smell of alcohol, tobacco smoke, perfume and sweat from the dancers packed tightly together.  She continued to make her way through the crowded throng to the other side of the room, but another douche bag materialized out of thin air. Grabbing her hands, the man twirled her around the dance floor then held her flush to his chest while pressing Claire’s arms against the sides of her body.  Holding her tight, he started rubbing his crotch against her backside.  Unfazed, Claire merely dropped her weight down swiftly by mimicking a fast squat.  Then she shifted her hips to the side and using her open palm struck hard and fast to his groin area until he released his grip.  Lunging forward slightly, she quickly threw her elbow back to the man’s belly and he doubled over in pain.
He let go and grabbing his stomach cowered away, muttering under his breath, “Bitch!”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Making it to the other side of the dance floor, Claire saw Karen waving to her and made her way over to where she was waiting.  As she sat down, Karen nodded towards where the band was playing on stage.
Leaning her head close to Claire’s so that she could hear her every word, she asked, “Do you see that tall, good looking guy singing and playing the guitar?”
“Which one? ... There are five of them Karen.”
The handsome one obviously.  The one with the long, dark hair and moustache. He’s the lead vocalist. Well? What do you think?” She asked inquisitively.
“Not my type but whatever floats your boat,” Claire replied laughing.
“Well I think he’s adorable.”
“That’s all that matters then.”
“I’m sure you’ll like him too, when you meet him.” While they waited for the band to finish their bracket, they watched the patrons having a great time until the band took a well-earned break.  However, the music didn’t stop, neither did the partying and dancing. There was a DJ booth located at the opposite end of the dance floor.  Some of the crowd took this chance to have a rest and get a drink while others filed over to where the nightclub’s resident Disc Jockey began to play a mix of songs of the most broadcasted tunes from the Top 40 as well as recorded dance and pop music through the powerful PA system.  The replacement band began setting up their instruments while Andy Ma’s band packed theirs away.
While the crowd was engaged with the DJ, the other guys in the band left the stage to meet up with several eager groupies hanging around trying to catch their attention, or girlfriends who were waiting for them. When Karen’s guy had finished placing his guitar on its stand, he came down the stairs to where she was waiting for him. Smiling she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. Claire watched their intimate interaction as they kissed each other again.  Then with their arms around one another they headed in her direction.
“Claire ... this is my guy,” Karen gushed smiling up at her man then back at Claire. “Hi ... I’m Karen’s neighbour Claire.”  She smiled at the tall man thinking that they made a lovely couple. “I’m Andy. I’m the bass guitarist and lead singer.”
“So, it’s you who is responsible for that pulsating beat that had me thrumming to my bones.”
“Yep ... Guilty.” Andy replied placing his hands in the air then grinning at her.
“What’s the name of you band?”
“Dragon.”
The name made Claire do a double take, but she remained calm and said, “You’re bloody good by the way.”
“Thank you, Claire.”
She thought he was a little reticent with his answers and didn’t really look her in the eye as if he was quite shy and reserved, which was a little strange given that he was the bass guitarist and lead singer.  Usually they were more extroverted but perhaps that was just for show.  However, the name of his band gave her cause to reflect. Was there some connection there to the Rising Dragons or was it just symbolic of Chinese culture that the dragon was revered?  Either way, it was food for thought and made her look at Andy Ma in a whole new light. Did Karen know that he may be someone that was not really who he said he was?  She seemed to be besotted with him. She would hate to think that her friend had been duped by this guy, just because he was a rock star and good looking.
When he sat down Andy possessively placed his arm on the back of Karen’s chair and the looks that they were giving each other made Claire feel like a third wheel.  The two had eyes only for each other and so Claire made an excuse to give them some alone time.
“I’m going over to the bar to get a drink; can I get you guys anything?
Without taking their eyes off each other Andy said, “Thanks Claire. I’ll have a beer.”
“Me too,” Karen replied enamoured with her guy.
The message was received loud and clear that they wanted to be alone, so Claire got up to leave the booth. “Okay you two ... I’ll be back in a jiff.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Once more she had to navigate her way through the gyrating bodies on the dance floor as she made her way to the bar. It was the fastest way across the room to the bar and this time she twirled around from time to time giving Fergus a clear view of the patrons at the nightclub. Her body moved to the rhythm of the music as more sweaty bodies brushed up against her.  Luckily, she didn’t come across the guy who had called her a bitch and she hoped that Fergus had a facial of him just in case he was a triad member.
“You getting this Claudel?” Claire whispered as she strolled over closer to the bar to order some drinks. “Yeah.” “Anything?” “No nothing yet. None of the faces that you’ve captured so far are recognizable in our system.” “Maybe Jonathon Randall’s not here tonight.” “Maybe.”
“Anything on the guy I decked?”
“Nothing showed up in our data files.  He’s an innocent.”
“Pity.”
When Claire finally arrived on the other side of the room, there were people four deep at the bar trying to hold out cash hoping that one of the bartenders noticed them and that they could order their drinks or cocktails. There were mostly men at the bar and a few attractive women were flirting with the single guys obviously enticing them to purchase more drinks and drive drink sales up. No wonder Jonathon Randall had good business acumen.  He certainly had the formula for making money.  Alcohol reduced inhibitions and it was the natural choice to boost a guy’s courage towards interactions with the fairer sex and judging by the four deep queues then this was a possibility.  They jostled each other to make their way back out from the throng of people at the bar without spilling the drinks they had paid for but sometimes with little success.
Claire, however, succeeded in returning to Karen and Andy without spilling a drop. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The DJ had finished his session and the dancers were now milling around on the dance floor or chatting at the tables on each level. Karen, Andy and Claire engaged in polite conversation in their booth as they waited for the backup band to begin their repertoire.   When the group finally belted out a rock tune, the throbbing beat of the music was so ear-splitting and pounding that they could barely hear themselves speak.
Leaning towards her friend, Claire shouted trying to be heard above the din.  “This rock music sure is deafening isn't it?” But she still wasn’t heard.
“What?  What did you say?” Karen asked. “Never mind.  It’s not important,” Claire replied giving her a wry smile.
However, Karen wasn’t paying much attention to her or the band, as all of her attention was focused on her boyfriend.   Andy Ma and her friend sat huddled together oblivious to everything and everyone but each other as he whispered sweet nothings in Karen’s ear.
Sitting back in the booth, Claire unobtrusively scanned the room this way and that, to give Fergus another 180-degree view of the setting.  Many couples were still dancing while others were sitting with friends relaxing and having drinks. Out of the corner of her eye Claire noticed several young Chinese men acting a little suspiciously who may be a possible lead to Jonathon Randall but it seemed that nothing was forthcoming.
Taking a little sip of her drink of whisky, she immediately thought of Jamie.   This was his favourite drink and she could recall the way she loved to watch as he savoured the taste on his lips. That thought then turned to the taste of his lips on hers and Claire suddenly had a feeling of melancholy wash over her.  She missed him terribly and wished he was here now doing the things that Andy was doing to Karen. The sound of his voice as his warm breath caressed her ear was just a memory that she desperately wanted to repeat.  The lilt of his beautiful Scottish brogue when he’d contacted her on his return to Section yesterday was better than nothing, but she wanted him here with her.  She wanted him so very much that she hurt and she was a little jealous of the intimacy between her friend and her beau.  “Oh Jamie … I wish you were here,” the voice in her head repeated again and again until she had to forcibly give herself a little shake to bring her back to reality.
She needed an opportunity to nonchalantly broach the subject of the owner of The Triangle, Jonathon Randall.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Claire’s patience was rewarded when she finally found an opening when Andy Ma eventually turned away from his girlfriend and reached for his drink. He took a mouthful of his beer and looked over at Claire as she took another sip of her whisky.   Fortunately, there was a little lull in the music, so she took the chance to ask him a few innocuous questions and to find out a little more about him.
“Karen is always talking about what a great guy you are Andy and I can see why.”
“Thanks Claire.  I think she is wonderful too.”
“You’re a terrific musician too.   So, is this your first gig at the nightclub?”
“No, the band is the resident one now.  Jonathon Randall liked us so much that he offered us a permanent booking if we wanted it. We can still do a tour from time to time so it is a win-win for all the boys.”
“Is he the owner?”
“Yeah.”
“I was told at the bar, that the man who owns the nightclub is cute and … very good looking.”
“Who? Jonathon Randall?  I don’t think I’d call him cute … good looking maybe … but girls might think that.”  He answered with a chuckle.
“Does he ever come here?” He took another swallow of his drink.  “Sometimes.” “Oh … Is he here tonight?” Claire inquired enthusiastically.
“No, he’s not ... He’s having a party next Saturday night, so, I guess he is off planning it tonight instead.” Claire leaned towards him as if she was to tell him something that shouldn’t be eavesdropped.  She lowered her voice.  “I’ve also heard that he’s rich ... very rich. Is that true?”
Andy smiled smugly as he sat back, “What do you think?”
“I think that he probably makes a packet from this nightclub. Karen said it is full every night.”
“Yeah ... you could say that! I guess he’s just a savvy business man.”
“I’d love to meet him.  I’m unemployed at the moment.  Perhaps he might give me a job.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Unfortunately, Andy Ma didn’t have a chance to reply as that little lull disappeared as the band once again began to crank up the volume of their latest rendition of an AC/DC rock and roll classic.  The infectious beat of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap soon had the crowd jumping again and even Claire pumped her hands in the air along to the music.  Andy and Karen joined in the merriment too as the crowd went wild for the song and screamed along with the chorus with the lead singer.  Then when the lead guitarist did a solo riff the crowd went nuts.
The pulsating rock music continued for several more songs until the band finished their set and also took a well-earned break to make way for the return of Andy Ma’s band, Dragon.  Once the music stopped, there was excited chatter from those on the dance floor who had been listening to the previous band playing. Flushed patrons made their way to the bar for a much-needed drink, while others returned to where they were sitting for a breather before they would be back on the dance floor once more when Andy’s band returned to the stage to play.
Once the replacement musicians had finished their session, Andy got up ready to make his way back to the stage for his band’s next bracket.
“Sorry girls ... gotta go.  We’re up next.”
Karen was reluctant to let him go and grabbed hold of his arm.  She raised her face to his and Andy bent down and gave her a quick kiss and a hug.  Sadly, she released her hand but trailed her fingers down his arm until she clasped his hand.  Andy pulled away and Karen slowly let go little by little until she had no choice but to let him walk away, although she tried to savour each touch until the very last moment.
He was about to move away when Claire asked eagerly, “Do you think Karen and I could get an invite to his party next Saturday?” “It’s a private function ... but I’ll see what I can do.” Claire flashed him a megawatt grin. “Wow! Thanks ... that would be great.” “Enjoy the rest of the night girls ... See ya babe!” Then turning towards Claire said, “‘Bye Claire. Nice meeting you.”
“Same Andy, ... See ya on Saturday,” she added hopefully knowing that if he could pull off an invite then she would finally meet Jonathon Randall.

12 important factors to consider while choosing a time attendance device
Time Attendance Devices are required to effectively monitor employee attendance. The need for a time attendance monitoring system grows with the number of employees you manage. But choosing the right devices may be a difficult task, unless you are an expert.
 Listed below are some important factors to consider while choosing a time attendance device.
 1. Biometric Device or Proximity Card reader(RFID) or both?
Biometrics relies on the use of unique physical traits such as a fingerprint, a palm/iris pattern, or facial characteristics to identify an employee.
 A non-biometric device such as an RFID device uses a proximity card to identify an employee. Buddy punching is a main concern here as the employee can ask his colleague to clock in with the card even when he is absent. Also, the employee may forget to bring his card to work and then he won’t be able to clock in/out the whole day. These issues won’t occur with a biometric device.
But, RFID is faster in identification when compared to biometric readers. RFID is also cheaper compared to Biometric devices.
 Card reader(RFID) and Biometrics in the same device
Some devices support multiple identification mechanisms, such as Face, Fingerprint, RFID and Password identification all in the same device. With such a device, employees can use Face recognition while visitors can use proximity cards(RFID).
 Face Recognition or Fingerprint Identification?
Face recognition is faster compared to Fingerprint identification. Face recognition takes less than 1 second while fingerprint identification takes less than 2 seconds to identify an employee. If you have too many employees clocking in/out at the same time, face recognition is recommended.
 2. How many devices?
This depends on how many employees are clocking in or out at the same time. For eg; all your employees may go out for lunch at the same time. In order to avoid long queues you should carefully choose the appropriate number of devices. The number of devices required varies according to the identification mechanism. You may need more fingerprint devices compared to RFID or face recognition as fingerprint identification takes longer.
 3. What Device Capacity?
Face/Fingerprint/Card Capacity: It’s better to go for a device that has much more user capacity than your requirement as the device would be fast in identifying employees, and you will have room for new employees.
Transaction Capacity: Since the software automatically pulls data from devices in real-time, transaction capacity is not much of a concern. But it’s good to have a device that can hold data for a month.
 4. PUSH or PULL?
PUSH: When using PUSH technology, the device sends punches to the server whenever it receives one. PUSH updates the server in almost real-time. The server should have a static IP if communication with the server is over the internet.
 PULL: When using PULL technology, the server reads the device data in periodic intervals and updates itself. If the communication with the server is over the internet, it’s good if the device has a static IP, otherwise, you will need a software to read the dynamic IP and to update the server.
 5. What kind of connectivity between device and server?
Internet: The devices can communicate with server over the internet in both PUSH and PULL mode. If you want the device to communicate over the internet, ensure the device has TCP/IP.
 Mobile Network: If the device is in a remote location, it can communicate with the server over a mobile network. Ensure the device has a 4G module.
 Wired LAN: If the device and server are in the same LAN, a wired connection is recommended. If you want the device to communicate over the LAN, ensure the device has TCP/IP.
 Wifi: With Wifi more of reconfiguration and troubleshooting may be required as wifi routers change. If you want the device to communicate over Wifi, ensure the device has Wifi option.
 USB: With USB, user will have to manually copy the data from device to software. This is not a recommended option as the data cannot come to server in real-time. If you want to use this option, ensure device has a USB port.
 6. Do you need Access Control?
‘Access Control’ allows you to control a door or a turnstile as employees clock in or out.
You may need access control:
* If you run an office and you don’t usually have customers walking in and you want to allow access only to employees
* If you have a server room, you want to allow access only to authorized personnel
* If you want accurate attendance data and you don’t want your employees to forget to clock in or out.
You may not need access control:
* If you run a super market and you have employees and customers walking in through the same door
 Access control is more expensive as it may require the following components:
1. Door Lock with brackets
2. Exit Reader
3. Exit Switch
4. Cabling
The components required for an access control installation vary according to the type of door or turnstile.
 Wooden door with a Wooden frame
If you have a wooden door with a wooden door frame a normal Electro magnetic lock may be good enough for you.
 Glass door with a Wooden frame
If you have a glass door with a wooden frame you need an Electro magnetic lock with U bracket.
 Glass door with a Glass frame
If you have a glass door with a glass frame you may need an Electro magnetic lock with a U and Z brackets.
 7. Do you need an Exit Reader?
When you use access control you may need one device for entry and another one for exit. Usually, the exit reader can be directly connected to the master device, and all configurations are done only on the master device. It’s also possible to have the same model of device for entry and exit.
 8. Do you need an Exit Switch?
When using access control you can use a device for entry and a switch for exit. But this is not recommended as the device cannot identify the employee who uses the exit switch.
 9. Do you need a USB Port?
You should choose a device with USB port if you would need the following:
* Option to copy data from the device manually if other modes of communication fail
* Option to copy face/fingerprint/rfid templates from one device to another
 10. 5V or 12V?
If you want to connect the device to a door lock and you want to supply power to the lock from the device, you will have to choose a device that works in the same voltage as your
 11. Do you need a printer?
If you want to use the device in a canteen, you may need to print a slip as employee punches; make sure the device is compatible with the printer.
 12. What device size and color?
Ensure that the size and color of the device matches with your interior design.
