I do like that finishing the Caladbolg regrown quest shows the pale tree recovering enough to stay awake and even stand a short while.
Rhon gets knighted too, especially love the sword and shield metaphor too.

Pale Tree and Crystal Bloom Caithe
Something that popped in my head, does the Pale Tree ever comment on Caithe's transformation at all? How does Mother feel about it, can she too feel Aurene's presence and thoughts, can they communicate with each other? I can't recall any instance of mention maybe I forgot some dialogue.

Fossilised (opalised?) wood Caladbolg design based off @skritt-shinies' AU
Imagine Caladbolg breaking during the Commander's final stand against the Void, falling alongside its owner as it did with Trahearne. Then, as the Commander revives, the sword is reborn once more, infused with Aurene's breath.

Trahearne character study, feat. child developmental psychology!
I don't know if I'm recalling sylvari lore correctly, but the experimentation on Malomedies was done by asura who didn't know better, regretted it, and returned him. It was the experimentation done on Canach in the S2 flashbacks that was done by Inquest. Trahearne (and Cadeyrn) wanted revenge on all asura generally anyway, despite the asura's repentance and sorrow.
If you let your kid go take revenge every time he feels hurt, he's going to grow up taking revenge on people. If you tell your kid 'happiness is a choice' and then teach him how to be happy, he'll grow up to be happy.
Trahearne was told - correctly - that he couldn't go around murdering people who were sorry for what they'd done. I don't know what kind of Nightmare-worthy warrior he would have turned into otherwise. Further, Trahearne learned to always keep the higher goal in mind and not to jeopardize it foolishly, which was an invaluable lesson as he spent so many years in Orr and probably would have given up without that early training. In addition, the Pale Tree imparted some wise advice about allies and not alienating them, wisdom that served Trahearne well in gaining the respect and admiration of the three Orders, and then in leading them.
Trahearne was raised not to be an angry, revenge-driven warrior, but a goal-driven, ally-oriented leader, which is what the world turned out to need right as Zhaitan marched up to our doorstep and was breaking down the door.
People talk about how awful of a mother the Pale Tree is, and to most of her children, perhaps that's true; but to the Firstborn she was an excellent mother who trained them right.
And I just love how we can trace so many of the qualities that make Trahearne who he is back to his saplinghood and to the influence and guiding wisdom of his mother. That's some good representation of parenting, child development, and family life right there. Man... I'll have to make a more in-depth post about this someday...
