Signature Luxury Real Estate’s Beyond Story
So, here in this blog, we are going to discuss the beyond story of Signature Luxury Real Estate. Signature Luxury was founded in February 2020 in Dubai. The main objective of this real estate agency is to provide a luxurious home experience to the residents of the UAE and to stand out among the top real estate agencies that have already captured the market, especially in Dubai.
When Signature Luxury started its operations in the next month, suddenly the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in the world, and due to the pandemic situation, this newly-founded agency faced many problems. At one stage, it almost seemed like this was the end, and there were very few chances for this agency to survive.
Tough Survival for Signature Luxury Real Estate :
Initially, Signature Luxury faced many problems due to the pandemic situation. There were very few clients who showed interest in buying houses, and people also approached the known agencies that had already captured the markets of the real estate sector in Dubai. There were about only 3 clients who trusted us in that worst situation we had faced.
Trust in the Divine’s Power :
There was a divine power that helped us in that situation, but after some time, when the pandemic waves went down, the real estate sector revived again, and people took an interest in purchasing property in Dubai. This was our time to show our strengths and get some potential buyers. After some time in the middle of 2021, we fully got out of the critical situation that we had faced during the pandemic and took Signature Luxury towards great progress.
A Breakthrough towards Success :
After that critical phase, we had clients from all over the UAE, and slowly we achieved a great milestone. Signature Luxury is now partnered with the top developers in Dubai, including Binghatti, Sobha, Emaar, Danube, Damac, Azizi, and Vincitore. These are all huge names that we have partnered with. Signature Luxury’s main aim is to provide best-in-class houses, apartments, and villas at very affordable prices to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle in Dubai.
Partnership with the Top Developers in Dubai :
Right now, we are partnered with the 11 top developers in Dubai, and more partnerships are coming very soon with the other developers. Signature Luxury also provides residential facilities to tourists who visit Dubai for a shorter time, and right now we are counted among the top real estate agencies in Dubai for our hard work and patience.
Signature Luxury Launched its Signature Livings in Pakistan :
After Signature Luxury became a success in Dubai, we launched our new project, Signature Livings District 2, near Islamabad, Pakistan. This project aims to provide world-class amenities to the people of Pakistan. At Signature Livings, we offer commercial and residential villas with luxurious amenities.
Dubai the Center of Attention for the Real Estate Sector :
Dubai is the land of the world’s tallest skyscrapers and artificial islands. If we go back to history, it’s just a desert, but hats off to the kings of the UAE, who made Dubai the center of attention in the world due to its tallest building, Burj Khalifa. Dubai has recognized itself for its global trade, tourism, and investment. The geological location of Dubai has increased its importance in the world; it connects Asia with Europe and Africa.
Pros of investing in Dubai Real Estate :
People from around the world want to live in Dubai, and Dubai carries something that attracts people to live here, and the main reason for this attraction is its tallest buildings. Let’s take a look at the pros of investing in Dubai real estate!
High Rental Yields :
You will get the highest rental yields and ROI across the world in Dubai. It depends upon the location of your property, you can get between 6.9-9.2% ROI in all affordable locations of Dubai.
Tax Benefits :
Dubai is a hub for international investors due to its favorable investment climate. One key aspect of this appeal is the absence of property income tax, which makes it a compelling choice for individuals looking to invest in the real estate market in Dubai. Investors stand to boost their earnings through various tax benefits, such as the complete exemption from property tax, no capital gains tax, no tax on rental revenue, and no income tax.
Fair Property Prices :
Dubai has faced 7-years of slums but after this period Dubai real estate bounced back with a surge of 20% in prices. Ever since property prices have been increasing due to the flow of foreigners from around the world. Dubai's real estate market has achieved a noteworthy 17% share of global luxury property sales, thanks to significant investments from affluent individuals.
Although many people are investing in Dubai's real estate market, the property prices remain reasonable. As per the reports from Arabian Business, Dubai's per capita GDP is five times higher than London's property prices, but Dubai's prices are six times more budget-friendly than those in London or Hong Kong.
Cons of Investing in Dubai Real Estate :
There are also some cons that a client needs to know before investing in Dubai real estate. Take a look at the cons.
Regulatory and Legal Requirements :
Investing in real estate in foreign countries requires a thorough understanding of the local legal and regulatory systems. Dubai's real estate market has undergone recent changes, implementing more strict regulations to safeguard the interests of investors. While these changes promote transparency and stability, they may pose challenges for international investors. Therefore, it is advisable to consult with experts and continuously monitor the evolving regulations before making investments in Dubai.
Mortgage Charges :
When you plan to invest in Dubai, first you should consider mortgage charges because here in Dubai, banks charge fees for processing, valuation, and mortgage registration. This will affect your overall expenses, so you should be vigilant in all of this process for your financial feasibility.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan
Exclusive: Pakistani Leader Imran Khan Says Taliban Can Be America's Partner For Peace
— Published: September 24, 2021 | By Tom O'Connor (Senior Writer, Foreign Policy & Deputy Editor, National Security and Foreign Policy)
In a candid and wide-ranging interview, Newsweek Senior Foreign Policy Writer Tom O'Connor conversed with Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan, a nation that straddles Afghanistan and China both geographically and strategically. Khan discussed his goals and fears for his country and the region, and explained why he believes America must remain engaged in Afghanistan.
This conversation, conducted via email, offers a rare glimpse into one of the world's most troubled regions through the eyes of the leader of one of its most important and influential countries.
Khan rose to fame as a cricket star who led Pakistan's national team to its first World Cup victory in 1992. After his sporting career, he began philanthropic work raising funds for medical facilities and research, and established the populist Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Pakistan Movement for Justice) in 1996. Through this party, he capitalized on popular dissatisfaction over corruption, religious discrimination and economic stagnation over the course of the next two decades to rise to the forefront of national politics, securing positions in parliament and rising to prime minister in 2018.
For Americans, the leading concern in the region is that the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August could empower militant groups seeking to lash out abroad. Khan says he shares those anxieties. But his greatest worry doesn't stem from the Taliban, with which Islamabad has fostered close ties. Rather, it's a slew of other outlawed organizations whose aims are more immediately focused on wreaking havoc in the region.
When it comes to China, the Pakistani leader rejects President Joe Biden's hard line as "unnecessary." Khan sees not a rival but a partner, both for his nation and potentially for the U.S. as well. And at a time when the U.S. is increasingly embracing Pakistan's top rival, India, he emphasizes that Pakistan remains a ready and willing companion in counterterrorism and other endeavors.
Cooperation between the U.S. and all major powers in the region is the only way to avoid catastrophe, Khan says.
This transcript has been lightly edited for clarity.

Newsweek: What do you feel will be the immediate impact for both Pakistan and the region as a result of the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan?
Khan: Following the U.S. withdrawal, Afghanistan faces a difficult transition from the past 20 years of a US-NATO supported governance structure. The Taliban appear to have gained control over the entire country, for the first time in 40 years. There is, therefore, a hope that security can be established throughout Afghanistan. A peaceful Afghanistan will be beneficial for Pakistan, opening up possibilities for trade and development projects.
However, Afghanistan faces a humanitarian crisis due to the Covid pandemic, conflict, and the failures of the previous governments. This must be addressed as a priority. Also, we need to work with the authorities in Kabul to neutralize terrorists' groups present in Afghanistan, particularly the TTP [Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, the country's largest armed opposition group], which has been responsible for thousands of terrorist attacks against Pakistan.
Do you think U.S. credibility and influence in Asia will be affected by the move? Are countries looking to alternative security partners such as China, or might countries seek to cling to a U.S. presence, given the chaos that resulted amid the withdrawal?
For its part, the United States has divested a liability—its costly military intervention—which, as the U.S. President has himself admitted, was not a strategic priority for the United States. Both Pakistan and the United States need to prevent terrorism emanating from Afghanistan. To this end, we should cooperate to help in stabilizing Afghanistan by addressing the humanitarian crisis in that country and supporting its economic recovery. Of course, there may be an immediate negative impact in the U.S. due to the chaotic nature of its evacuation from Kabul. The U.S. has withdrawn voluntarily from Afghanistan. Therefore, I don't think that the U.S. withdrawal will erode U.S. credibility globally in the long term.
As for China, if China offers economic support to Afghanistan, it's natural that the Afghans will accept it. The Taliban have welcomed the prospects of being incorporated in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and establishing close relations with China.
However, the U.S. too can play an important and positive role in Afghanistan by providing humanitarian assistance, contributing to Afghanistan's recovery and reconstruction, and cooperating in containing terrorism from Afghanistan. During the Doha peace process, the U.S. established a working relationship with the Taliban. There was direct cooperation between the U.S. and the Taliban during the evacuation process. I believe that the U.S. can work with a new government in Afghanistan to promote common interests and regional stability.
The Taliban on Tuesday announced a caretaker Cabinet stacked with veterans of their harsh rule in the late 1990s and subsequent 20-year battle against the U.S.-led coalition and its Afghan government allies. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid speaks during a press conference in Kabul, Afghanistan Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021. Muhammad Farooq/AP Photo
Does Pakistan intend to recognize the new Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as it did during the previous Taliban takeover, and what kind of developments would you like to see in Afghanistan before establishing such formal diplomatic ties?
The Taliban have established an "acting government" and will no doubt announce a more permanent governance structure later. Pakistan is obliged to engage with the de-facto authorities in Afghanistan to prevent an economic and humanitarian collapse in this neighboring country and the resurgence of terrorism.
Once a government in Kabul establishes control over the entire country, it would legally qualify for recognition. However, Pakistan would prefer to reach a decision regarding recognition of the new government together with other neighbors of Afghanistan.
Among the most pressing concerns for the international community right now is the potential for militant and separatist groups to take advantage of the unrest in Afghanistan to plot attacks against other countries. One example has been attacks against Chinese citizens in Pakistan. Does Pakistan share these concerns, and how do you plan to address them?
There is indeed a plethora of terrorist groups which, taking advantage of the conflict in Afghanistan, located themselves in that country. Pakistan is extremely concerned about the threat of terrorism from Afghanistan, particularly from the TTP, which has conducted thousands of attacks against Pakistan from the territory of Afghanistan with the sponsorship and support of certain hostile intelligence agencies.
The TTP has also been responsible for most of its attacks on Chinese citizens working in Pakistan, perhaps with the support of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM). Pakistan will work with the authorities in Afghanistan to halt TTP and other terrorism from Afghanistan.
While the U.S. is withdrawing from Afghanistan, it has focused more closely on defense ties with other regional countries, especially India. Does this concern Pakistan, given the tensions that exist in Kashmir and India's membership in the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue?
Pakistan desires to promote a comprehensive, not selective, approach to neutralizing terrorists' threats from Afghanistan. We will cooperate with the international community, including the U.S., in this effort.
We understand that the U.S. military support to India is designed to contain China, including through the so-called Quad. Pakistan has its own views on the credibility of this strategy. In our view, India will never confront China, especially not to serve U.S. strategic objectives. India's purpose in arming itself so massively is to establish its hegemony in South Asia and specially to threaten and coerce Pakistan. Seventy percent of all Indian military capabilities are deployed against Pakistan, not China. Therefore, Pakistan has legitimate concerns about the provision of the most advanced weapons and technology to India. Apart from increasing the likelihood of a conflict, an arms race in South Asia will divert both India and Pakistan from investing in socio-economic development and the welfare of their people.
"The current U.S.-China rivalry is unnecessary," says Prime Minister Imran Khan. China's President Xi Jinping, right, shakes hands with Pakistani leader Khan before a meeting at the Great Hall of the People on April 28, 2019 in Beijing, China. Madoka Ikegami-Pool/Getty Images
Pakistan has built a close strategic partnership with China. Is there concern that Pakistan could be caught up in the broader U.S.-China rivalry?
Pakistan's relationship with China is 70 years old. It covers economic, technological, military and other sectors. Throughout this time, Pakistan has simultaneously maintained a close relationship with the United States as well. Indeed, it was Pakistan which first brought the U.S. and China together in 1971. We see no reason for our strategic partnership with China to erode our ability to continue a cooperative relationship with the United States. We believe that the current U.S.-China rivalry is unnecessary and contrary to the interests of both these global powers. Cooperation between them would be beneficial to both and is essential to address the myriad global problems we face—the COVID pandemic, the economic crisis in the developing world and the existential threat of climate change. We hope that both Beijing and Washington will reach the same conclusion in the near future.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of State met on September 17. What message did you have for them as it relates to the role of Pakistan and the SCO states in addressing Afghanistan and other regional issues?
We attach importance to the SCO as a regional organization grouping the countries in the Asian heartland. At the SCO Summit, I presented Pakistan's viewpoint about the situation and presented the possible way out to address the challenges posed to the region due to the current situation in Afghanistan.
If India adopts a positive position in relations with Pakistan, the SCO could serve as a useful platform to promote stability and prosperity across this vast area of the Asian Continent.

There have been concerns over the pace of progress in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects. How has Pakistan's economic alignment with China benefited the country, and do you expect other countries to follow Pakistan's example, or might President Joe Biden's "Build Back Better World" prove a challenge to Belt and Road Initiative projects?
China has already invested around 25 billion dollars under the umbrella of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Additional projects worth 20 billion are under implementation. Projects worth a further 25 billion dollars are in the pipeline. The COVID-19 pandemic may have slowed the implementation of some projects. However, the CPEC's objectives are being achieved on schedule, and their implementation will be accelerated in the future.
The United States and G7 initiative—"Build Back Better World"—has been welcomed by Pakistan. We do not see this as being in competition with China's "Belt and Road Initiative." It is an initiative which can contribute to building the infrastructure and other projects which are so vital to enable developing countries to achieve their development objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of Osama bin Laden's killing on Pakistani soil, and the world just marked the 20th anniversary of 9/11. How would you evaluate the successes and failures of the United States' "War on Terror" over the course of the past two decades?
Al-Qaeda, the organization responsible for 9/11, has been decimated in Afghanistan, largely due to Pakistan-U.S. counter terrorism cooperation over the past 20 years.
However, the root causes of terrorism—the underlying conflicts and disputes, and economic and social injustice—have not been addressed. As a result, the ideology and narrative of terrorist groups have proliferated across several regions of the world, including Africa, and new terrorist organizations have emerged.
In addition, anti-Muslim extremist movements and terrorist groups have emerged in several parts of the world. We see the strongest manifestation of such Islamophobia in India's extremist Hindutva ideology, which has unleashed state-sponsored terrorism against the Muslims of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the 200 million Indian Muslim "minority."
The world needs a new and comprehensive global counterterrorism strategy to address these new manifestations of terrorism.
Longer term, what do you think the impact of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan will be on the region? If you look out, say, five years from now, what do you think the most profound difference will be—and what wild card development might change that outlook?
Four decades of war and conflict has had a devastating impact on Afghanistan's economy, society, and polity. There is a ray of hope today to end the "long war" and bring peace, stability and development to Afghanistan and the broader region.
The last thing Pakistan wants is more conflict and turbulence in Afghanistan.
After 20 years of military intervention in Afghanistan, the international community cannot exonerate itself from its responsibilities towards the people of Afghanistan. It must stay engaged with Afghanistan.
It is our hope that Afghanistan will be stabilized, through humanitarian help, economic support, and connectivity and infrastructure projects, and that the U.S., China and Russia will all contribute to pacifying and reconstructing Afghanistan.
On the other hand, if rivalry persists within Afghanistan, and between regional states and global powers, it could lead to a new round of violence and conflict in Afghanistan. This would create new flow of refugees, escalate the threat of terrorism from Afghanistan, and destabilize the entire region.

Going Beyond the Marketplace: Tradekey offers more than just a digital storefront. It provides a comprehensive B2B directory listing importers, exporters, wholesalers, manufacturers, and suppliers. This allows businesses to research potential partners and build relationships before initiating transactions. This additional layer of information fosters trust and facilitates informed decision-making.
Global Reach with a Regional Focus: While Tradekey boasts a presence in over 240 countries, it has a strong showing in South Asia, particularly in India, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Taiwan. This regional focus allows them to cater to the specific needs and business cultures of these areas. Understanding these nuances can be crucial for building successful partnerships.
Tradekey's Future: The B2B landscape is constantly evolving, and Tradekey is keeping pace. By leveraging advancements in technology and data analysis, they can further refine their search tools and create a more personalized user experience. Additionally, focusing on emerging markets and building strategic partnerships could solidify their position as a leader in global B2B trade.
While Tradekey may not be the most recognizable name in the B2B world, its commitment to secure transactions, targeted tools, and value-added services have made it a preferred platform for businesses seeking reliable international trade partners. As the B2B landscape continues to transform, Tradekey's focus on trust and specialized services will likely see it remain a major player in connecting businesses across the globe.

Palm oil buyers switch to cheaper rival oils, hampering price recovery MUMBAI, Feb 9 (Reuters) - The rebound in palm oil prices is likely to be capped by abundant supplies of rival soyoil and sunflower oil, "soft" oils that are available at discounts to tropical palm oil for the first time in more than a year. Benchmark Malaysian palm oil futures FCPOc3 have risen nearly 5% in 2024 after losing 11% last year. Primary competitor soyoil typically trades at a premium to palm oil, but a record South American soybean crop has driven down prices, and buyers are taking more soyoil shipments. Soft oils production is rising while palm oil production is falling, driving divergent price trends, said Vipin Gupta, chief executive officer of Dubai-based trader Glentech Group. "Higher prices are pushing away buyers from palm oil, which will limit the price rise," Gupta said. Crude palm oil (CPO) imports are being offered at about $930 a metric ton, including cost, insurance and freight (CIF), in India for March delivery, while soyoil and sunflower oil are offered around $915 and $910 a ton, respectively, dealers said. Palm oil, available at a discount of nearly $200 a ton to soyoil in November, is trading at premiums as dryness caused by an El Nino weather is limiting output in the two largest producers, Indonesia and Malaysia. In India, the top vegetable oil importer, buyers are trimming palm oil imports and increasing soyoil for shipments in coming months, said Sanjeev Asthana, CEO at Patanjali Foods Ltd PAFO.NS, India's top palm oil buyer. Palm oil imports by India fell to their lowest in three months at 787,000 ton in January as soyoil purchases rose 24% to 190,000 tons. India's soyoil imports could jump to 300,000 tons in March and further to 400,000 tons in April, while palm oil imports could fall to around 700,000 tons, said Sandeep Bajoria, CEO of Sunvin Group, a vegetable oil brokerage. Negative refining margins for palm oil for Indian refiners contrasts with the positive margin in soyoil and sunoil, prompting increases soft oil purchases, said Rajesh Patel, managing partner at edible oil trader and broker GGN Research. India buys palm oil mainly from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, while it imports soyoil and sunflower oil from Argentina, Brazil, Russia and Ukraine. Due to higher freight costs, palm oil is even more expensive for European buyers and is trading in Europe at a premium of up to $100 a ton over soyoil, canola oil and sunflower oil, said a Singapore-based dealer with a global trading house. CORE DEMAND INTACT While high prices are likely to squeeze household consumption, industrial demand for palm oil is likely to remain intact, the Singapore dealer said. In Pakistan, palm oil is primarily used to make vanaspati ghee, a cheaper substitute for clarified butter, for which demand will persist, said Rasheed JanMohd, chief executive of Karachi-based Westbury Group. Palm oil is expected to maintain its premium for at least a few months, as production in Indonesia and Malaysia declines and demand for biodiesel in Indonesia rises, said a Kuala Lumpur-based vegetable oil trader. "Palm oil stocks are decreasing in producing countries, which will give them leverage to quote higher prices," the trader said. Malaysia's palm oil stocks likely fell for the third straight month in January, a Reuters survey showed.

Atlantic Charter: The Beginning of the Rise of the United States as a Superpower
August, 1941. World War II is going on. All around then the triumph of the Axis Powers. Germany and its junior partner, Italy, were then the masters of the European mainland. The vast expanse of Europe from the Baltic Sea to the Atlantic Ocean was then under the influence of the Axis Powers. France has fallen. The mighty 'Mistress of the Sea' Britain has not yet conceded defeat, but they have been defeated by intense Axis air strikes. Axis forces continue to attack the communist superpower, the Soviet Union. Axis forces are rushing towards Moscow with lightning speed, crushing the famous Red Army. Meanwhile, Japan has occupied a large area of China as well as Indochina. In Africa, the Axis powers are waging a fierce battle with the Allies. Only one major power is still out of the war - the United States.
The United States was the largest economic power in the world at that time. In fact, they became the world's major economic power before the turn of the twentieth century. The devastation in Europe during the First World War strengthened their position. The United States participated in the war at the end of World War I and distanced itself from international politics as much as possible in order to avoid being caught up in the whirlpool of post-war European politics. They maintained neutrality in the early stages even after the outbreak of World War II, but their sympathies were largely with the British and French-led allies.
But by August 1941, 'sympathy' alone was not enough for almost cornered Britain. The British wanted to involve the United States in this war at any cost. By the time France fell, almost the whole of Europe was under the control of the Axis Powers, and the British colonies were in revolt. In this situation, Britain had no choice but to involve the United States directly in the war to avoid defeat. Only the huge industrial and military capabilities of the United States could save Britain.
It is pertinent to note that in September 1940, the United States and Britain signed the 'Destroyer for Base' agreement. Through this agreement, the Americans provided Britain with 50 destroyers and in return the United States gained the right to establish military bases in the British colonies in North America and the Caribbean. This agreement was one of the reasons why Britain was not forced to surrender to the Axis Powers in 1940. The military equipment obtained through this agreement helped Britain to continue the war. But U.S. public opinion was still strongly opposed to participating in the war, so the United States refrained from participating directly in the war. But some U.S. policymakers were in favor of participating in the war because they thought it would open the door to possibilities for the United States.
By August 1941, their idea had taken root. At the time, the Soviet Union was engaged in a deadly struggle against the Axis Powers, and the Allies feared that the Axis Powers would lose. For Britain and the United States, the possible defeat of the Soviet Union was an ominous sign, because if the Soviet Union was defeated, the Axis powers would have the opportunity to seize the vast territory of Eurasia and use it in the fight against Britain (and possibly the United States). In this situation, Britain and the United States decided to strengthen mutual cooperation and to determine what the post-war world would look like if the Allies won the war. The result of this resolution is the 'Atlantic Charter'.
On 9 August 1941, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill arrived in the Gulf of Pleasantia off the southeast coast of Newfoundland aboard the British warship HMS Prince of Wales. He was welcomed at the US Naval Station in Argentina by US President Franklin Roosevelt aboard the USS Augusta. Their interview was kept secret from the whole world. The Americans knew their president was on a 10-day fishing holiday! It should be noted that at that time Newfoundland was a British Dominion (Autonomous Colony), and now it is part of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
From 9 to 12 August, talks were held between Roosevelt and Churchill and top officials from both states. It later became known as the Atlantic Conference. The conference was followed on 14 August by a joint declaration by the President and the Prime Minister, which later became known as the Atlantic Charter. Note that the Atlantic Charter was not a formal treaty, nor was it a treaty signed by anyone. It was the culmination of a series of agreements between the United States and the United Kingdom, which were publicized in the form of declarations and thus gained worldwide recognition. Roosevelt later compared the Atlantic Charter to an unwritten British constitution and commented that the Atlantic Charter did not exist on paper, but everyone knew it existed.
It is pertinent to note that even after the proclamation of the Atlantic Charter, the United States refrained from joining the war directly for several months due to internal political reasons. But it became clear that the United States had linked its destiny with the Allies. On December 6, 1941, three months after the Atlantic Summit, Japan attacked the United States naval and air base at Pearl Harbor, and in response the United States declared war on Japan. Through this the United States became directly involved in World War II, and emerged as an economic and military superpower at the end of World War II. And the Atlantic Charter played an important role in their emergence as a superpower.
The Atlantic Charter outlined the post-World War II world. Note that the Atlantic Charter is not the first 'declaration' in this regard. Earlier, on 12 June 1941, Britain and its four Dominions (Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa), the expatriate governments of six European countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Norway, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia and France) The alternative to the German-controlled ‘Vichy France’ (the French government) collectively issued the ‘Declaration of the Palace of St. James’ or the ‘Declaration of London’. Through this declaration, the states pledged to refrain from making peace with the Axis powers separately and to recognize the right of the free nations to voluntarily cooperate with each other. 'Anglo-Soviet Treaty' of 12 July 1941 Was signed and through this agreement Britain and the Soviet Union pledged to refrain from making peace with the Axis powers separately. The 'Atlantic Charter' was a logical extension of this process.
The Atlantic Charter had a total of 6 articles. These are as follows:
(1) The United States and Britain will not claim any land after the war.
(2) The United States and Britain are not interested in seeing a change in ownership of a territory against the will of its inhabitants.
(3) The United States and the United Kingdom respect the right of each nation to choose its own system of government and are keen to return it to the nations whose sovereign rights and sovereignty have been taken away.
(4) The United States and Britain shall endeavor to maintain equal rights in the conduct of trade and procurement of raw materials for each nation, large and small, victorious and victorious in the post-war period.
(5) The United States and the United Kingdom are keen to maintain full economic cooperation among all nations in order to improve the conditions of workers, ensure economic progress and social security.
(6) After the final destruction of Nazism, the United States and Britain are willing to establish a peace that will allow every nation to live safely within its borders and free from fear and poverty.
(6) The United States and Britain are willing to ensure the right to free movement at sea.
(6) The United States and Britain believe that every nation in the world should abandon the use of force and take steps for full disarmament.
From the general point of view, the Atlantic Charter was a declaration that was very ‘noble’ and ‘ethical’. It discourages the practice of resolving political disputes through force and land grabbing. It emphasizes the right of each nation to choose its own system of governance, the right to free trade, the right to form alliances and the right to free movement at sea. At the same time, emphasis has been placed on disarmament, poverty alleviation and economic cooperation.
Apparently the clauses of the charter seem to be very noble. The Atlantic Charter is described as a milestone in history. In general terms, the Atlantic Charter is the landmark treaty that has led to the end of global colonialism and the establishment of the United Nations to establish world peace. But considering the context, the subtle motives of these clauses become clear, and then they can no longer be termed as 'noble motives'.
The most important clause of the Atlantic Charter is the third clause of the treaty. Through it, the United States and Britain recognized the right of nations around the world to self-determination. But the United States and Britain themselves were imperialist powers and they themselves had suppressed the right of different nations to self-determination. Why, then, were they so concerned about the “right of nations to self-determination”?
It should be noted that before the Second World War, Britain was the owner of a huge empire worldwide. In fact, the British Empire was the largest empire in human history. "The sun never sets in the British Empire" - they proudly referred to it. The British deprived the people of present day India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Malaysia, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Gambia and many other similar states of their 'right to self-determination'. The United States, on the other hand, promoted itself as anti-imperialist, but in practice they themselves were a colonial state. Not only did they seize large tracts of land from North American natives, but they also seized vast tracts of land from Mexico, as well as from the Philippines, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and many other territories.
In this context, the declaration of support for the "right of nations to self-determination" by the US and the British was virtually self-contradictory. But even then the United States and Britain included this clause in the Atlantic Declaration. In fact, at that time, US and British statesmen realized that after World War II, it would no longer be possible for Western European states to retain control of their colonial empires. Nationalist thought spread widely in several colonies, and the successive defeats of other Western European colonial states, including Britain, near the Axis powers at the beginning of World War II intensified the desire for independence in the colonies. On the other hand, the war destroyed the economies and infrastructure of these European nations.
By August 1941, British statesmen had realized that no matter what the outcome of the war, it would not be possible for the British to maintain control over their vast colonial empire with the economy destroyed at the end of the war. Therefore, they decided to withdraw from the most anarchic colonies as soon as possible after the war and to maintain control over the prosperous African colonies and some other strategically important colonies.
Note that in the end, the British had to give up almost their entire colonial empire. But even then the end of the British Empire was relatively peaceful. Other Western European colonial powers could not be as realistic as Britain, so after World War II France became involved in bloody wars in Indochina and Algeria, the Netherlands in Indonesia, and Portugal in southern Africa.
But there was still an important question before Britain - to whom would they hand over the dominion of this vast empire, the dominion of the world? After the retreat of the British from the colonies all over the world, to whom will the world domination go? To the German Nazis, against whom they are engaged in a deadly war? In the hands of the French, who have virtually surrendered to the Germans? Or to the Soviet communists, who want to spread their 'terrible' (from a British point of view) ideology all over the world? The world ruled by Germany, France or the Soviet Union was not desirable to Britain, so they decided that their most suitable successor for world domination would be the United States, a capitalist democratic state like Britain and part of the English-speaking world.
However, it should not be underestimated that Britain readily agreed to cede its empire and global dominance to the United States. In this case, the pressure of the United States on Britain played an important role. Britain's weakness was not unknown to the Americans, and they wanted to use this situation to their advantage as much as possible. They knew that Britain had no choice but to accept US aid. To this end, they pressured Britain to grant independence to the British colonies and to gain British support for the Atlantic Charter clause on the "right of nations to self-determination." However, after the declaration of the Atlantic Charter, Churchill explained that this right would only apply to German-occupied territories. But later events make it clear that the 'right to self-determination' mentioned in the charter
However, the question may be raised, how could the United States benefit from the loss of the British colonies? To answer this question, we need to look at the structure of the world economy. During World War II, the United States was the world's largest economic power and industrial producer. U.S. policymakers realized that it would take them a long time after the war to make up for the losses suffered by the major powers in World War II. At this time, the United States will be the economic center of the world. In this case, if the British (and other) colonies became independent, there would be no need for the United States to occupy them. Because the economic situation of the colonies at that time was very bad, And in the post-independence period they had to depend on the developed northern states for economic development. And since the economies of all the major powers, except the United States, have been devastated by World War II, the newly independent states will have no choice but to accept economic and political control of the United States.
The idea of the Americans later proved to be correct. In World War II, Britain, France, and other Western European colonial powers, the Soviet Union, China, and Japan all suffered heavy losses. On the other hand, the mainland of the United States was out of the realm of the battlefield, so the war caused the U.S. economy to swell. After World War II, more than 50% of the world's production came from the United States. In this situation, the newly independent states of Africa and Asia naturally depend on the United States to overcome their economic woes. Through this the United States emerged as the new superpower of the world.
Thus Article III of the Atlantic Charter played an important role in the rise of the United States as a superpower. However, other sections of the charter did not play a less important role in this regard. According to Articles 4 and 5 of the Charter, the United States and Britain agreed to expand global free trade and economic cooperation. In this case, it should be noted that free trade means trade between different countries as far as possible without taxes / duties / quotas etc. In such a case, the state with the highest amount of product will benefit the most. After World War II, the United States was the world's leading industrial producer. The production capacity of Western Europe, the Soviet Union, China and Japan was significantly reduced as a result of the war.
Similarly, at the end of World War II, the 'Bretton Woods System' was established to assist in the economic reconstruction of war-torn countries and to strengthen global economic cooperation. As part of this arrangement, two bodies, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, were formed and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was signed. The main task of the World Bank is to provide loans to various countries for long-term development. The task of the International Monetary Fund is to provide short-term loans to various countries to avoid sudden economic crises. And the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was intended to promote free trade worldwide.
The United States was the world's major economic power in the latter part of World War II, so the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund came under de facto US control. Similarly, the expansion of free trade benefits the United States the most. After all, through the Bretton Woods system, states accept gold and the US dollar as interchangeable, and as a result they stockpile dollars instead of gold. As a result, the key to their wealth passed into the hands of the United States. In the early 1970s, the United States abolished the exchangeability of gold and the dollar, and became the de facto regulator of the world economy. Since other countries have so far failed to agree on a global currency as an alternative to the US dollar, the US dollar still dominates the world economy.
Overall, the implementation of the provisions of the Atlantic Charter provides an opportunity to establish U.S. authority worldwide. The independent states created by the end of colonialism became dependent on the United States in the face of their own economic weakness. The expansion of free trade has enabled the United States to export and profit from its products worldwide. In the context of U.S. economic domination, global financial institutions set up to strengthen economic cooperation have effectively become tools of U.S. influence. Above all, through the ratification of this charter, the then world power Britain agreed to peacefully hand over the flag of global domination to the United States. Thus the implementation of the Atlantic Charter made the United States a global superpower, and the United States still exists as the most powerful state in the world.

Israel : India's new BFF...
On 4th July, 2017, Narendra Modi became the first sitting Indian prime minister to visit Israel. His counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, was seen alongside Modi on all three days, accompanying him to various industrial and cultural visits. The press duely reported his unusual level of participation, underscoring the significance of the trip for both the countries. Unlike prior diplomatic initiatives, the Indian prime minister did not balance this outreach with a visit to Palestine, India's long time friend, and Israel's staunchest enemy. India and Israel had become new BFFs.
And yet in 1948, when Israel became independent from Great Britain, just months after India did, India refused to recognize Israel as a newly formed country. Till 1992, India and Israel didn't have embassies in each others' countries, though there were informal engagements between the two countries. Since then, the relationship between the two countries has gone from strength to strength.
Today, India is the largest importer of Israeli defense systems. Israel is the second largest defense supplier to India, after Russia. In 1992, India-Israel trade was a paltry USD 200 million. In 2018, it had grown to almost USD 6 billion. India is a top-ten trading partner for Israel. And by the looks of it, this is just the trailer. Picture abhi baki hai.
So, what's the story behind this U-turn of the relationship? How did the indifferent, sometimes frosty relationship between the two countries suddenly blossom into such exuberant friendship? Therein lies a tale.
Cultural ties between India and Israel are millennia old, because both of them are pretty old civilizations. It is said that King Solomon used teak wood and ivory from the Malabar coast of India to build his palace and other structures in the grand city of Jerusalem, around 900 to 1000 BCE.
Tradition speaks of Jews coming to the Malabar coast of India on exile, after the destruction of the Temple of Solomon, during the Siege of Jerusalem in 587 BCE. The locals welcomed them with open arms. When the second temple of Solomon was also destroyed during the Second Siege of Jerusalem in 68 CE, another batch of Jews arrived in India. Jews have been coming to India ever since.
Throughout the world, especially in Europe, Jews have been despised and persecuted for ages. India is the only land where they were welcome to live and integrate into the local culture. This is borne out by the fact that some of the oldest Jewish synagogues outside of Israel are in Kerala, India.
Infact, during the reign of Raja Baskara Varman I, the king welcomed the Jews and issued a royal decree in Tamil to the effect that, “the Jews are being given the village of Anjuvannam and it would remain in their possession, so long as the world and moon exist.” Pretty dramatic, huh? The relics recording this conversation are still available.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his visit to Israel in 2017, gifted Benjamin Netanyahu with replicas of these relics, reinforcing the strong roots of ties between the two countries.
In World War I, British Indian soldiers played a key role in the liberation of the cities of Jerusalem, Haifa and Acre, from the Turkish Ottomon Empire and Germans. So, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, gifted Modi with a photo that depicted Indian soldiers on December 11, 1917, leading a British military column to liberate Jerusalem.
In 1918, soldiers from three Indian regiments, Jodhpur, Hyderabad and Mysore, sacrificed their lives while liberating Haifa, a prominent city in Jerusalem. Cementaries honoring these soldiers exist in Haifa and Jerusalem even today. In fact, the Teen Murti Marg in Delhi, which has been recently renamed as Teen Murti Haifa Marg, commemorates these three regiments.
Why then, one wonders, did the relationship go into a limbo post India's and Israel's independence?
The answer is - ideological differences.
Post India's independence from Britain in 1947, Indian leadership under Nehru took the non-alignment ideoligical path, whereas in reality leaning slightly towards Soviet Union and its pseudo-socialist economy. Whereas, post its independence from Britain just a few months later, in 1948, Israel decided to link its future with the capitalist west, especially the US.
Israel was formed on the basis of religion - It was a Jewish state. Gandhiji didn't like it. For him, Israel was like Pakistan - born with a religious identity.
For Nehruji, the problem was something else. He feared that close relations with the Jewish state might radicalize India's muslim citizens – numbering more than 100 million – and hurt its relations with the Arab world, on which India depended for oil.
So, in 1949, India voted against admission of Israel to United Nations. However, in 1950, India reversed its stand and officially recognised the State of Israel. Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru stated, "We would have recognised Israel long ago, because Israel is a fact. We refrained because of our desire not to offend the sentiments of our friends in the Arab countries."
In 1953, Israel was permitted to open a consulate in Bombay to facilitate smooth emigration of Jews to their newly formed country.
From 1950 to the early 1990s, the relationship remained informal in nature. Domestically, politicians in India feared losing the muslim vote if relations were normalised with Israel. Also, India did not want to jeopardise the large number of its citizen working in Arab Gulf, who were helping India maintain its foreign-exchange reserves. But both governments maintained informal ties, especially in areas of surveillance and intelligence.
Things changed with the formation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, an association of countries having muslim majorities. Many countries with significant muslim populations were given observer status. Pakistan blocked India's entry to that group. That gave India a legitimate reason to make overt diplomatic shifts.
In 1992, P V Narasimha Rao became the Prime minister of a near-bankrupt nation. Probably he had no other option, but somehow in the fading years of his political career, he took some bold decisions. He brought sweeping economic reforms and set the country on course to high growth levels. He made some drastic changes at the diplomatic levels too.
The same year, India opened up its embassy in Tel Aviv and Israel opened its embassy in New Delhi, with consulates in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Formal relationship between the two countries took off at an exponential pace.
In 1997, Ezer Weizman became the first Israeli President to visit India. In 2000, L.K Advani and Jaswant Sinha became the first Indian ministers to visit the state of Israel. In 2003, Ariel Sharon was the first Israeli Prime Minister to visit India. In 2006, Narendra Modi made his first visit to Israel as Chief minister of Gujarat. In 2012, despite "India's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause", Foreign Minister SM Krishna made a two-day visit to Israel. In May 2014, after Narendra Modi became Prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu personally called to congratulated him. Modi, in turn, met Netanyahu in New York City on the sideline of the UN General Assembly during his US visit in 2014. It has been bear hugs, big smiles and hand shakes all the way.
In 2012, Israel commemorated 20 years of diplomatic relations with India by coming out with a postal stamp, highlighting the similarities between Deepawali, the Indian festival of lights and Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, both these festivals falling around the same months of October-November.
Today, India and Israel collaborate in multiple areas - military, strategy and intelligence, trade, science and technology, space, agriculture, oil and natural gas exploration, tourism and cultural exchange.
In many ways, Israel has become India's new best friend!

What BRICS Expansion Means For India
From left: Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov appear at the 2023 BRICS summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Aug. 24.Gianluigi Guercia/AFP via Getty Images
The main headline from last week’s BRICS summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, is that the bloc will expand, adding new members for the first time since South Africa’s admission in 2010. It may be easy to see the enlargement of BRICS—currently made up of Brazil 🇧🇷, Russia 🇷🇺, India 🇮🇳, China 🇨🇳, and South Africa 🇿🇦 —as a bad thing for New Delhi. After all, more members could elevate Beijing’s influence in the group.
Some observers are also concerned about BRICS’s future orientation. One of the new members, Iran, is at odds with the West; the group—initially intended to promote the voices of emerging economies—could take on a more clearly anti-Western stance, especially given China’s and Russia’s influence. That would present a challenge for India, which aims to balance relations with the West and the countries beyond it.
However, this analysis overlooks the potential benefits of BRICS expansion for India. First, more members may grant China more influence on the global stage, but it also means more influence for BRICS itself. That is good for India, which has long viewed the bloc as an important entity because it champions the causes of the global south and contributes to multipolarity, two foreign-policy priorities for New Delhi.
Aside from Iran, the other new members—Argentina 🇦🇷, Egypt 🇪🇬, Ethiopia 🇪🇹, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, and the United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪—are not staunchly anti-West. As a result, a larger BRICS can hardly be described as an anti-Western bloc. And half of the new members are top Indian partners: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Finally, most of the additions are in the Middle East, a growing arena for New Delhi’s engagement because of energy and trade interests and broader geopolitical considerations.
The BRICS expansion didn’t go entirely New Delhi’s way. India was reportedly opposed to adding another country that is subject to international sanctions such as Iran, which is not only hostile toward the West but also expanding ties with China. Analysts have rightly noted that most of the new members are also key sources of engagement for Beijing.
But it could have been much worse for India, especially since it also enjoys relations with all of the new members, including Iran. New Delhi will see six friendly countries added to BRICS, most of them in a region key to Indian interests.
India could face new challenges in the future: BRICS could expand further, and the next round of new members may not be as favorable to India. For example, China and Russia could push for Pakistan to join, although its weak economy would make it a poor candidate. But India enjoys strong ties with the global south, largely because of its historic role as a leader of the Non-Aligned Movement during the Cold War. Most potential new BRICS members would be at least friendly to New Delhi.
Ultimately, discussions about what BRICS expansion means for India may be getting ahead of themselves. That’s because new members could exacerbate one of the bloc’s weaknesses: a struggle to execute, or as FP’s C. Raja Mohan describes it, to turn “soaring rhetoric on global issues into concrete, practical outcomes.” This stems from BRICS’s consensus-based decision-making process. With 11 members instead of five, it will be even more difficult to reach consensus.
For now, this much is true: BRICS expansion could advance Indian interests, giving New Delhi more clout with a set of nations with which it is keen to expand relations.
