Title:Coming Home to You - Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Paige Bueckers x Reader ; Paige and Aria (aunt and Oc! niece)
Fandom: UConn Women’s Basketball
Summary: sweet Aria gets her way even when it’s Paige’s day and Paige doesn’t mind at all
3/2/25 was a very bittersweet day for UConn wbb…
Tumblr media
Post-Game Press Conference: Gampel Pavilion
Azzi, Kaitlyn, Aubrey, and I walked into the media room, cameras flashing as reporters waited for us to take our seats. I had Aria perched on my hip, her tiny arms locked around my neck, and at this point, I had accepted that she wasn’t letting go anytime soon.
“Paige, you’re really about to do this with a whole child in your arms?” Aubrey teased, sliding into her seat.
I shot her a playful glare before setting Aria on my lap as I sat down beside her. “She’s comfortable. Y’all got a problem?”
Kaitlyn chuckled, shaking her head. “I mean, if anyone could pull this off, it’s you.”
Azzi, who had already been sipping on her Gatorade, snorted. “This is hilarious. Coach even tried to take her backstage, and she clung to you like her life depended on it.”
Aria, now fully aware she was part of the conversation, lifted her head from my chest and looked at the cameras. “I like Paige,” she said simply, earning a round of soft laughter from the room.
The reporters were eating this up.
The moderator cleared his throat, trying to keep things professional. “Alright, we’ll start with questions.”
Immediately, a reporter in the front row leaned into their mic, a smirk on their face. “Paige, it seems like you had an extra supporter tonight. Can you tell us a little bit about your adorable plus-one?”
I glanced down at Aria, who was now playing with the strings on my hoodie. “Yeah, this is Aria—one of my biggest fans and apparently my shadow for the night.”
Aria beamed, turning her wide eyes to the reporters. “She’s my best friend.”
The entire room melted.
Azzi had to cover her mouth with her hand to keep from laughing, while Aubrey and Kaitlyn exchanged amused looks.
Another reporter raised their hand. “Aria, what’s your favorite thing about Paige?”
Aria didn’t even hesitate. “She gives the best hugs and buys me ice cream.”
Aubrey choked on air. “Wow, not even her basketball skills?”
Aria thought about it for a second before shaking her head. “She’s good at that too, I guess.”
The room erupted in laughter, and I groaned, pressing a kiss to Aria’s temple. “You guess? That’s wild.”
The press conference went on, with Aria adding random little comments whenever she felt like it. Every time a question was asked, she turned to look at me like she was carefully analyzing my answers before deciding if they were acceptable.
At one point, a reporter asked, “Paige, what has been the most emotional part of senior night for you?”
Before I could answer, Aria spoke up, her voice soft. “She was sad ‘cause she thought my auntie wasn’t here.”
I felt my throat tighten as I looked down at her. She was right—I had been sad. But now, sitting here with her in my lap, my teammates beside me, and my girl waiting for me outside, I felt nothing but gratitude.
I hugged Aria a little closer. “Yeah, munchkin. That and also being added to the huskies of honor wall. But now I’m really happy.”
She smiled, satisfied with my answer, before leaning back against my chest, completely unbothered by the cameras still flashing.
When the conference finally wrapped up, Azzi smirked as she stood up. “Well, that was definitely the cutest press conference of all time.”
Kaitlyn nodded. “We should bring Aria to all of these.”
Aubrey grinned at me. “Hey, next stop, WNBA presser? She gonna be your PR manager?”
I rolled my eyes, adjusting Aria in my arms. “Y’all are ridiculous.”
Azzi threw an arm around me as we walked out. “Nah, you are. You just did an entire press conference with a five-year-old on your lap.”
I glanced down at Aria, who was now half-asleep against me.
Yeah. I guess I was ridiculous.
Aria clung to me the entire time, refusing to let go even after we left the arena. Every time I tried to pass her off to her aunt, she just tightened her grip around my neck, mumbling, “I missed you too much.”
The adrenaline from senior night hadn’t worn off, but the moment we stepped inside my apartment, exhaustion hit me like a freight train. The last few hours had been a blur—cheers, speeches, hugs, and the overwhelming joy of seeing her again. Seeing them again.
I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Girls’ Day Out
The next morning, I woke up to Aria still sprawled across me like a human backpack. She refused to sleep anywhere that wasn’t directly on top of me, and at this point, I’d just accepted it.
By the time we got up, showered, and got dressed, I had a plan: a girls’ day out.
“Where are we going?” Aria asked excitedly as I buckled her into the car.
I glanced at my girl, who was sitting in the passenger seat. “Shopping, obviously.”
Aria gasped dramatically. “Like a spree?”
I chuckled, nodding. “Exactly like a spree.”
And that’s exactly what we did.
We hit every kid’s store in the mall, letting Aria pick out outfits, toys, and even a sparkly pair of sneakers that she insisted I needed to match with her. (I did. No regrets.)
When we got lunch, Aria sat between us, happily munching on her food while swinging her legs. At one point, she pointed at us with a fry and said, “Y’all should get married.”
I choked on my drink, and my girl turned bright red.
“Uh, what?” I coughed.
Aria shrugged. “You love each other.”
We exchanged a glance, and I saw the way my girl’s gaze softened, a shy smile playing on her lips.
“Maybe one day,” I murmured, reaching over to squeeze her hand.
Aria grinned, completely pleased with herself. “Good.”
I watched her for a second before casually reaching over and swiping a fry from her plate.
Immediately, she gasped like I had just committed the ultimate betrayal.
“Paigey!” she whined, eyes wide with outrage. “That’s stealing!”
I popped the fry in my mouth, chewing as if I hadn’t done anything wrong. “Finders keepers.”
Aria turned to my girl, pouting. “Auntie, tell P, to stop stealing my food.”
She barely held back a laugh as she shot me a teasing look. “Paige, stop stealing her food.”
I grinned, reaching over to swipe another. “No promises.”
Aria let out an exasperated huff, crossing her little arms. “I’m telling the team on you.”
I snorted. “Go ahead. They’d probably take my side.”
She squinted at me, clearly unconvinced, then leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a dramatic whisper. “I’ll tell Coach Geno.”
My chewing slowed.
She smirked.
I groaned, slumping back in my seat. “Man, you really are your aunt’s niece.”
Aria just grinned, dunking her fries in ketchup like she hadn’t just threatened my entire career.
Meanwhile, my girl was losing it, wiping a tear from her eye as she laughed. “Oh, now you’re playing dirty,” she teased.
I sighed, shaking my head. “Y’all are actually the worst.”
But even as I pretended to be exasperated, I couldn’t help but watch them—the way Aria leaned into her like she was her safe place, the way she instinctively fixed Aria’s curls when they fell into her face, the way she stole little glances at me when she thought I wasn’t looking.
Something about it made my chest tighten.
I had always known she was good with kids—patient, soft, nurturing—but seeing it up close, with Aria practically worshiping her? It did something to me.
And then there was us. The way Aria fit so seamlessly between us, the way we moved like a unit, like a little family—
I swallowed, shifting in my seat.
I wasn’t dumb. I knew where my mind was going.
I had never been the type to think too far ahead—I liked to focus on the now, on what was in front of me. But at that moment, sitting in that booth, watching my girl and Aria bicker over dipping sauces and extra napkins…
For the first time, I let myself wonder.
What if, one day…
I shook the thought away before it could fully form.
Instead, I reached for another fry—only for Aria to slap my hand away.
I gasped, clutching my chest. “Wow. Disrespectful.”
She smirked. “I learned from the best.”
My girl just grinned, sipping her drink as she watched us go back and forth.
Movie Night with the Team
Later that evening, the team came over for movie night, and Aria was thriving in the spotlight.
She sat in the middle of the living room, taking her role very seriously. “Okay,” she announced. “I get to pick first.”
Everyone agreed, mostly because no one was about to argue with a five-year-old.
She scrolled through the options before gasping. “The Princess and the Frog!”
I smiled, ruffling her curls. “Good choice, munchkin.”
As the movie started, Aria climbed onto my lap, after getting at the attention she wanted dorm everyone else, resting her head against my chest. I wrapped both arms around her, gently rubbing her back.
And just like that, that feeling came rushing back.
I tried to focus on the movie, but my eyes kept drifting—absentmindedly as I played with Aria’s curls, whispering along with the movie, and effortlessly held Aria like she belonged there.
Like I was meant for this. Like she was my child.
I shifted slightly, to see my girl, out the corner of my eye looking at me fully distracted with her palm slightly on her stomach.
“Babe?” I whispered.
I glanced up, finding her looking at me with a soft, knowing smile.
“You okay?” I asked gently.
She hesitated for a second before nodding. “Yeah,” she whispered back.
But deep down, I knew the truth, cause I felt the same way too.
And for the first time, the idea of forever with her didn’t just feel like a dream.
It felt like a possibility.
A certainty.
I pressed a kiss to her temple, my voice barely above a whisper. “I Love you, ma.”
She smiled, squeezing my hand.
“I love you too.”
As the movie played, I leaned back, watching my girl curl up beside me, her head resting on my shoulder. Aria was tucked against my chest, completely mesmerized by the screen.
And in that moment—between the warmth of the people I loved, the soft hum of the movie playing, and the tiny fingers clutching mine—I realized something.
This?
This was everything I ever wanted.
I glanced at my girl, watching the way she smiled at Aria, the way her fingers absentmindedly traced circles on the back of my neck.
I could see it—the future.
And I knew, without a doubt, that no matter where life took us, as long as I had them, I was already home.

-
“There’s a list of allergies on the fridge, if Mia throws a fit just put her in the stroller and walk her around for a bit, if she won’t calm down call me. Whatever you see in the fridge you can eat, and call me whenever! I’ll have my ringer up and-”
“Chloe-”
“and really call me whenever you need to! And have your ringer up too!”
“Chloe!”
Your aunt’s husband is pulling on her arm, trying to get her further than the front door but 10 minutes have already been spent going through everything for the day.
“Auntie Chlo we’ve babysat before. They’re in good hands,” you reassure, smiling brightly at her. She inhales deeply and chuckles when she realises how long she’s been rambling for.
“You’re right, the kids love you. Especially you Paige, they’ve missed you. Been showing them clips of your games!” Your aunt says, head tilting upwards to look at the blonde girl standing behind you, hands wrapped around your waist.
You and Paige had been dating for over a year now, celebrating your first of what would be many anniversaries. In that short amount of time the blonde had made her way into the depths of your closest circle, becoming a part of your family. It happened effortlessly, the way she fit into your life, the way she clicked with your relatives. You swore they loved her more than you at this point. This was about to be the first Christmas she ever spent with your family, and just the idea of her with all your loved ones made your chest fill with warmth.
So when your aunt Chloe called you in a crisis on Christmas Eve, her babysitter getting sick at the last minute, you and Paige were quick to agree to look after your nearly 2-year-old niece Mia and 7-year-old nephew Leo.
“Go! We got this aight,” Paige reassures, resting her chin on the top of your head as she does.
Pulled away by her husband, your auntie waves goodbye and closes the door, leaving you and Paige alone with the kids standing behind you. Before you can even react, Mia’s lower lip begins to quiver, the sight of her mother gone upsetting the small child.
“Uh oh,” you mumble, Paige swiftly making her way to the little girl and picking her up, pouting her own lower lip to mirror the child.
“Are you sad because you miss mama? She’ll be back later, I promise,” Paige coos to Mia, rocking her in her arms. She’s wearing a white t-shirt despite the snow outside, for some reason she was always warm, and her biceps were growing more prominent as she held the child by her hip. The sight of Paige comforting your niece made your heart flutter, making it hard to tear your eyes away. watching Mia bury her face into the crook of Paige’s neck.
“We’ve got a really fun day planned for you!” You gleam at both of the children, ruffling Leo’s hair. He laughs but pushes your hand off, running to the kitchen.
“Can I have a cookie?” The boy asks, clearly taking advantage of the moment that his parents’ watchful eyes weren’t around.
“No-” you start but Paige is already following him to the kitchen. She was such a pushover, always had been with the kids. Just some pouting, eyes batting and she was ready to bend every which way for them.
“Paige!” You complain as the blonde easily reaches to the top shelf, grabbing a jar of chocolate chip cookies.
“What?” She asks unbothered by your scolding, handing a cookie to Leo, and taking a bite of one herself. “Wanted a cookie,” she mumbles, her mouth full.
“Cookie! Gimme!” Mia babbles, short hands reaching for the cookie your girlfriend is holding between her teeth.
“Oh good God…” you groan, rubbing your forehead, already knowing this was going to be a long day if the kids had the blonde wrapped around their finger this much already. But when Mia giggles as Paige feeds her a part of the cookie, you decide not to care. If there was a time to spoil the kids it was on Christmas Eve.
“C’mere,” Paige nods you over, grabbing another cookie. You scurry into the kitchen, grabbing Mia from her and kissing the little girl’s forehead. She giggles brightly, clearly in a much better mood. You nuzzle your nose into her soft cheek, eliciting more laughs from the baby. The whole time Paige can’t look away even for a second, her heart fluttering with affection. Paige was completely in love with you, and seeing you like this only made her feel it more.
“What are we gonna dooo all day?” Leo interrupts the moment, yanking on Paige’s shirt. She grins and ruffles his hair affectionately. Leo and Paige had bonded quickly the first time they met, and now they’re best friends. In fact Leo facetimes Paige weekly on your aunt’s phone.
“We’ve got some ideas.” The blonde says smirking.
-
The weather is perfect, the gentle winter sun not warming but making everything brighter as the rays reflect off the snow. Snowflakes fall softly from the sky, adding to the already covered ground as you walk behind Leo and Paige, holding Mia in your arms, trying to catch your breath as you climb on top of a hill.
“Isn’t this high enough?” You ask, glancing down, worrying that Leo would be too scared to get on the sled. Predictably so, the two in front of you look over their shoulders, immediately uttering the word “no” in unison
“Auntie Paigey and your big brother have gone cray cray,” you murmur to the babbling Mia, wrapped in her warmest winter gear.
“Okay, here’s good!” Paige says, finally putting the sled she was carrying down, looking around the group.
“You wanna go first Leo?”
Suddenly the boy looks down, hesitating. It’s pretty steep, especially at first. You could tell he felt unsure, but Paige noticed it too.
“I’m actually lowkey scared, can we ride down together?” She asks, covering for the boy. For a moment your eyes meet with hers, wanting nothing more but to kiss her right now. Paige always had you weak in the knees, but the way she skillfully handled kids only made you love her more.
“Okay we can go together I guess,” Leo complains, deep down relieved. They sit down on the sled, Paige behind the boy, ready to steer.
“Wait!” She yelps, turning to you, blinking fast. “Kiss for good luck.”
Apparently she’d been feeling the same about the kiss.
Humming, you place Mia down on the ground to play with the snow, leaning close to Paige. Her warm lips press into yours, in a loving, gentle peck that let you know she wanted to do so much more, if it wasn’t for the company.
“Yuck!” Leo whines, making both of you giggle.
“Hey, have some respect for your auntie,” Paige grins and pushes the sled forward. Suddenly they’re riding down at such speed you can barely watch. Someone was bound to get hurt.
Both of them scream as the speed accelerates, the sounds echoing in the air. To your surprise they both make it all the way down safe and sound, Paige stopping the sled and jumping off.
“That was so fast!” Leo chuckles hysterically, making your girlfriend laugh too. You could hear them laughing all the way up where you were standing.
“Ball,” Mia babbles, pointing at a pile of snow. Giggling, you sit down on the ground next to her, beginning to roll one snowball after the other and handing them to the girl.
“Look Mia!” You gasp to get her attention. Her wide eyes turn to you, long eyelashes fluttering as she watches. You throw a snowball into the air, Mia’s eyes following as it crashes to the ground. Immediately she claps, a wide smile on her face to reward your efforts.
“Babe it’s your turn,” Paige’s voice says as she’s climbing up, trying to catch her breath.
You scoff, continuing to play with the snow for Mia. “Not happening P,”
“Oh you’re scared huh?” The blonde teases, a smug smirk spreading across her face.
Leo gasps. “It’s not scary at all! I was scared at first too!”
You roll your eyes, not falling for their games.
“I’m playing with my girl here, you boys leave us alone,” you say, poking your tongue out at your girlfriend. She scoffs loud, walking over to you and wrapping her arms around your waist, lifting you up and throwing you over her shoulder with ease.
Leo laughs loud, pointing at the two of you. “Paige is not a boy!”
“Let me down!” You yelp, kicking your legs and arms but it’s no use. She’s much too strong, carrying you towards the sled. Your squeals make Mia laugh loudly, a wide smile spread on her face.
“Look after your sis for a bit, aight?” Paige tells Leo, placing you down on the sled. You’re still giggling, shaking your head.
“I’m not gonna! It’s scary!” You laugh, the blonde sitting snug behind you on the sled, wrapping her legs around you.
“Don’t be such a wuss,” she teases, her arms wrapping over your waist. Leaning in, you feel her hot air tickling against your ear as she whispers. “I gotchu ma, don’t worry.”
With that, Paige pushes off the snowy ground, holding onto you tight. Quickly the speed picks up, fluttering in the pit of your stomach. The freezing cold air tingles against your skin and your eyes water from the cold as you laugh.
“Ahhh P-“ you scream, turning your gaze backwards and finding that, to your shock, the blonde behind you is pushing on the ground to make you go even faster. “STOP!”
Paige giggles into your ear, her arms wrapping around you tight to hold you close. Soon it’s over as you reach the base of the hill, the speed finally slowing down and flutters in your abdomen disappearing.
“Told you it wasn’t so scary,” the blonde grins, helping you up.
“Uh yes it was,” you laugh, grabbing a handful of snow and throwing it at the girl in front of you. Some of it gets onto her face, making Paige pause.
Her mouth turns into a tight smile and her blue eyes widen. Immediately you know you’re in trouble.
“Oh it’s like that huh?” She says and you squeal, already beginning to run when she starts to throw the powdery snow all over you.
“No no no no please!” You can barely breathe, gasping for air and trying to run, the snowy ground making your steps heavy. Paige, being a D1 athlete, easily reaches you.
“Oh so now you regret it!” She laughs, snow falling into your coat, down your neck, making you scream louder as the girl chasing you wraps her arms around your waist, spinning you in the air.
“Stop! Paige!”
“Say please,” she orders, her tone lighthearted.
You roll your eyes, hating having to admit defeat, but knowing it must be done.
“Fine! Please, please stop Paige please,” you whine, batting your wide eyes at the girl. She looks at you, finally putting you down and kissing your forehead.
“Wanna hear you just like that later,” she whispers the dirty words into your ear, lips brushing against your skin, tingling. Before you can scoff or tell her off, Mia’s loud cry disrupts the moment.
Both you and Paige hurry up the hill, towards Leo who’s holding his sister, bouncing him gently to soothe the little girl.
“What happened?” You ask, swiftly scooping Mia from the boy and trying her cheeks to see if she was cold. Nope, perfectly toasty from all the layers.
“Nothing! She just started crying!”
But then, studying her face, you notice the redness of her eyes, her mittened hands trying to rub them desperately.
“Aw, she’s sleepy,” Paige says, like reading your mind, grabbing the sled.
“We should probably head back, she needs to take a nap,” you murmur, trying to soothe the girl in your arms, ear-piercing screams and cries spilling from her mouth.
All four of you hurry to the car, but no attempts to calm Mia down help. She’s exhausted, plump bottom lip quivering as she keeps crying the whole drive home. You could feel yourself getting exhausted, the loud noise becoming overwhelming and stressful. Paige could see it too, the way you were sighing and taking deep breaths. So when you return to the house, she grabs your hand and kisses it before getting up from the car.
“I’ll take her to bed okay? You rest ma,” she murmurs. Relief spreads all over your chest and you smile affectionately.
“How’d I get so lucky?” You ask.
“Nah, I’m lucky. Got the best girl in the entire world.
-
After an hour of the faint sounds of Paige’s lullabies (off-key but she would never admit that) and trying to reason with the 2-year-old like that might help, the cries eventually quiet down. Leo is resting too, playing in his room. You’ve been in the kitchen, making spaghetti for all of you. Checking the clock you realise it’s been about 30 minutes since you last heard any sound from Mia, yet Paige still hadn’t returned downstairs.
Quietly, you sneak your way up the stairs, ever so carefully opening the door into the bedroom to not wake up Mia. But what you find makes your heart flutter - in the dimmed out room, Paige and Mia are both asleep, your girlfriend holding the little girl close. The blonde’s mouth is slightly ajar, soft snores escaping through. For a moment you just watch, allowing the love you felt for them both to spread. You walk over, make sure they’re both covered up by the blanket before sneaking back out, leaving them in bed.
“Leo, come eat dinner soon, ok?” You whisper to him in the other room. His eyes lighting up, the little boy gets up holding a toy dinosaur and follows you downstairs.
“Can I watch The Grinch while I eat? Please please please!” He begs, giving you puppy eyes.
“Mmkay, just this once,” you bend to his will, setting it all up for him. You can’t help but watch Leo getting snuggled up on the couch, a blanket around him, eyes wide staring at the TV. Leaning against the arch into the living room, you feel your body tired from the day, muscles aching and mind exhausted. But your insides are fluttering with warmth, no other word for the specific feeling but pure joy. Walking back into the kitchen you begin to make your own plate of food.
You let your mind wonder, and maybe it’s risky. It’s much too soon to be thinking anything close to it. But since it’s Christmas, you let yourself. Your mind comes up with vivid images of you and Paige, in a house of your own, decorating the tree - Paige the only one tall enough to place the star on top. You can see you two baking cookies and watching Christmas movies, hot chocolate in bed.
And maybe, just maybe eventually, two children of your own. There are flutters in your heart thinking about building snowmen with your little family, roasting marshmallows in the fireplace, dressing them up in tiny costumes and sending family postcards to your relatives and friends. It felt so far away, yet you could see it so vividly.
As if she had heard your thoughts, suddenly warm hands land on your waist, Paige’s reflection appearing in the window in front of you. Humming, her front presses flush to your back, fitting against you just right.
“I fell asleep,” she murmurs, burying her nose into your hair and inhaling. It’s like heaven, after a long day, to feel her like this again.
“I noticed,” you reply, beginning to make a plate for the girl as well. She watches closely, following every movement from behind you until her lips find your neck, beginning to press soft, loving kisses along the nape of it.
Eyes fluttering shut, you hum, turning your head to face the blonde behind you. Hand reaching for your jaw, she pulls you into a gentle kiss, lips sliding against yours slowly. “Can’t wait to see you be a mom,” Paige whispers against your mouth, chest heaving.
A deep blush sets on your cheeks hearing the words, taking them in. The blonde watches your reaction, clearly trying to read you.
“I’m sorry if that’s too much to say this early but I-”
“No,” you shake your head with a smile. “I can’t wait for that either.”
Relief washes over your girlfriend, as she pecks your lips once more.
“We’re gonna be so good ma, best parents in the world.”
Beaming with joy, both you and Paige walk into the living room where Leo is sitting, eyes glued to the movie.
“Yo! Scooch!” Paige tells the boy, who shuffles to the corner of the couch. Both you and your girlfriend sit in the opposite corner, holding your bowls of spaghetti and getting settled. The blonde quickly wraps an arm around you, pulling you to lean against her side. You’re snuggled up, feeding bites of food to each other and stealing kisses whenever the boy isn't watching.
“I love you,” Paige whispers into your ear, blue eyes sparkling with adoration.
“I love you too Paige,” you whisper back, cheeks rosy and heart fluttering from the perfect snowy day.

the putellas test | birds of a feather
pairings: hopkins!paige bueckers x black!oc, alexia putellas x platonic!reader, alba putellas x platonic!reader
summary: alexia plans a series of test to see if paige is worthy enough to date her niece
warnings: none(?)
notes: i’m finding my grove back for this series 👻
Tumblr media
Paige had barely stepped foot inside the Putellas household when she realized two things:
1. Alba was definitely the fun, carefree aunt.
2. Alexia Putellas was about to ruin her life.
It wasn’t that Paige had expected smooth sailing. She had heard plenty of stories about La Reina from Cecilia. The unwavering discipline. The intensity on and off the pitch. The death stares. Cecilia always said it with love, of course, but that didn’t make it less terrifying.
And now here Paige was, standing in the middle of the Putellas living room, completely at the mercy of one of the greatest footballers in history.
“Ah, so this is Paige Bueckers,” Alexia said, arms crossed, her voice void of any warmth. Paige blinked at the intensity in her gaze.
She had met Geno Auriemma, a man who practically yelled for a living, and he still didn’t intimidate her half as much as Alexia Putellas did in that moment.
“Uh, yeah. Hi?” Paige offered, throwing in a small wave for good measure.
Cecilia, her own girlfriend, stood off to the side, looking way too amused for someone who was supposed to love her.
“She’s real, Ale,” Alba teased from the couch, sipping her coffee like she was about to enjoy a show. “Not a hologram.”
“Yet to be determined,” Alexia muttered, her eyes narrowing slightly. Then, with a slow, deliberate movement, she straightened up and gave Paige a once-over, scanning her like a book.
Paige had never felt so judged in her life.
“Do you have a problem?” she blurted before she could stop herself.
Alba choked on her coffee.
Cecilia’s eyes widened. “Paige why—”
Alexia raised a brow. “Excuse me?”
Again, Paige had two options: backtrack immediately and pray for survival or commit to it.
She sighed. “You’re staring at me like I just walked into a courtroom without a lawyer.”
Alba burst into laughter breaking the silence, actually wheezing as she clutched her stomach.
“Oh, I like her,” Alba grinned, wiping a tear from her eye. “You picked a good one, neboda (niece).”
Alexia, however, remained stone-faced. Paige swallowed.
Cecilia, still looking a little worried, decided to step in. “Ale, don’t scare her off. I’ve had this one since kindergarten.”
Alexia exhaled loudly and finally uncrossed her arms. “Fine,” she said. “Let’s see if she survives the test first.”
Paige froze. “The what?”
Alba whistled. “Oh, this is gonna be fun. She did these with my partners too.”
Tumblr media
“How well do you know Cecilia?” Alexia demanded, hands on her hips.
Paige blinked. “Uh… really well?”
“We’ll see about that.” Alexia pulled out a notebook and flipped to a page clearly labeled “Paige Test.”
Alba snorted. “Oh, she’s been planning this.”
Paige’s heart started racing. “Is this a joke?”
Alexia stared at her like she had just said she preferred orange juice over apple juice.
“First question,” Alexia said, ignoring Paige’s mild panic. “What’s Cecilia’s go-to comfort meal?”
“Easy,” Paige smirked. “Cocas.”
Cecilia grinned. “Correct.”
Alexia frowned, flipping the page. “Butchered the pronunciation, but, fine. What was Cecilia’s favorite toy as a kid?”
Paige didn’t even hesitate. “Her stuffed koala, Coco.”
Alba gasped. “Wait, Coco still exists?”
Cecilia groaned. “Yes, and now I regret telling Paige she’s still around.”
Paige beamed. Alexia narrowed her eyes.
“Alright, last one,” Alexia muttered. “What was the name of Cecilia’s first pet?”
Paige hesitated, then said, “She never had a pet.”
Cecilia gave her a proud nod. “Correct.”
Alba whistled. “Damn, I was hoping you’d get that one wrong. Just cause.”
Alexia huffed, clearly annoyed that Paige passed the first round. “Fine. But that was just the warm-up.”
Paige suddenly had a bad feeling.
Tumblr media
“Why are we at a field?” Paige whispered, standing stiffly on the pristine turf pitch as if she’d accidentally wandered into a gladiator arena.
Alexia smirked, casually tossing a ball between her hands like a villain in a sports movie. “If you’re going to date my niece, you need to prove you’re worthy.”
Paige crossed her arms. “I feel like I should’ve signed a waiver for this.”
“Beat me in a 1v1.”
Paige blinked. “What.”
On the sidelines, Cecilia was already cackling, her phone out to document the unfolding disaster. “Amor, I love you, but you’re so screwed.”
Alba, who had settled comfortably into a lawn chair with an iced coffee, nearly choked on her drink. “Oh, this is going to be hilarious.”
Paige turned back to Alexia. “You’re playing like it’s a Champions League final, aren’t you?”
Alexia raised a brow. “Of course.”
Paige exhaled. “Cool. Just wanted to mentally prepare myself before I get sent into early retirement.”
The game started, and within ten seconds, Paige knew she was doomed. Alexia moved like she was playing an intense game, which, unfortunately for Paige, meant she had not a single ounce of mercy in her bones. The second Paige even thought about trying to defend, Alexia nutmegged her so smoothly that Alba screamed from the sidelines, falling out of her chair in laughter.
“Oh my god—SHE COOKED YOU,” Alba howled, kicking her feet on the ground.
Cecilia wasn’t much better, barely holding the camera steady as she gasped through laughter. “Amor, bend your knees, stay low—oh, never mind. She got you again.”
Paige was starting to sweat. She knew she wasn’t a football player, but this was getting embarrassing. She tried again, this time using her basketball instincts to anticipate Alexia’s movement. It almost worked until Alexia spun around her like she was an orange traffic cone and easily slotted the ball into the mini goal.
Paige groaned. “Did you have to add the spin move? That was excessive.”
Alexia smirked. “I was holding back.”
“Holding back?” Paige echoed, hands on her knees. “I think my soul left my body on that last turn.”
Alba clapped her hands like a delighted spectator. “Ale, you should’ve been a bullfighter. The way you let her charge and then just moved out of the way? Beautiful.”
Paige shot Alba a betrayed look. “You’re supposed to be the fun aunt.”
“I am,” Alba grinned. “That’s why I’m enjoying this so much.”
Fifteen minutes later, Paige lay face-down on the grass, sweaty, breathless, and questioning every decision in her life.
Alexia stood over her like a victorious warrior. “That was embarrassing.”
Paige groaned, her voice muffled against the grass. “You slide tackled me.”
“This is Spain,” Alexia shrugged. “We don’t take it easy.”
Cecilia jogged over, shaking her head. “Ale, you’re literally the most overprotective person in the world when it comes to family, but you just sent my girlfriend flying across the field.”
Alexia crossed her arms. “If she wants to date you, she needs to be strong enough to protect you.”
“From what? A rogue defender? A pigeon in Plaça Catalunya?” Cecilia shot back. “Besides, she’s a basketball player!”
“You never know,” Alexia muttered ominously.
Paige groaned louder, still sprawled on the ground. “Is this the last test?”
Alexia smirked. “One more.”
Paige dared to glance up. “Oh god.”
Alba grinned. “Good luck. This one’s psychological.”
Tumblr media
Paige sat slumped on the couch, exhausted, while Alexia paced in front of her like an overzealous teacher preparing for a final.
Cecilia sat cross-legged next to her, munching on a snack with the carefree air of someone who had zero stress in life, unlike Paige, who had just been subjected to a day of physical and psychological warfare.
Alba was leaned up against the kitchen counter, watching the whole ordeal like it was a reality show.
Alexia finally stopped pacing, turning to face Paige with the gravity of a judge about to deliver a verdict.
“Final question.” Her voice was calm, but there was something undeniably intense about it.
Paige, despite being wiped from the impromptu 1v1 and whatever else Alexia had put her through, sat up a little straighter, her exhaustion fading under the weight of the moment.
Alexia took a step closer, studying her with sharp, discerning eyes. “Do you love Cari?”
Paige didn’t hesitate. “With everything in me.”
Cecilia, who had just been about to take another bite of her snack, paused, her expression softening.
Alba let out a quiet “Awww” from the kitchen.
For a moment, the room was silent. Alexia simply stared at Paige, as if searching for any cracks in her answer. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she gave a slow, approving nod. “Good.”
Paige exhaled, feeling relief flood her body. Maybe, finally, she had passed the test—
Then, with absolutely no warning, Alexia leaned in close, her voice dropping to an ominous whisper.
“Because if you ever hurt her,” she murmured, “I know people.”
Paige froze. Her brain went blank for a solid five seconds before she blinked rapidly.
“Did you just threaten me?”
From the kitchen, Alba howled with laughter, nearly knocking over her drink. “Ale, you can’t just say that to her!”
Alexia shrugged, completely unfazed. “I’m just saying.”
Paige turned to Cecilia, still slightly shaken. “Does she actually know people?”
Cecilia sighed like someone who had pondered this question too many times. “Honestly? I don’t even know.”
Alexia remained dead serious for a moment longer, letting the weight of her words linger. Then, finally, she cracked a smile, the first genuine one she’d shown all day.
“Welcome to the family, Paige.”
Paige exhaled deeply, her entire body sagging into the couch.
“Jesus Christ.”
Alba, still grinning, raised her glass in Paige’s direction. “You survived, Bueckers. I honestly wasn’t sure if you would.”
Paige groaned. “Neither was I.”
Cecilia leaned into Paige’s side, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “You did good, amor.”
Paige huffed. “I better have. I think I aged five years.”
Alexia smirked, arms crossed. “That was nothing. You should’ve seen what I did to Alba’s first girlfriend.”
Paige paled and her throat grew dry.
Alba threw her head back and cackled. “Ale, stop terrifying her!”
Alexia just smiled. “No promises.”

Not So Friendly
Requested @aria725
#11 “are you flirting with me? You finally noticed?”
#6 “please just kiss me already”
Tumblr media
Johnny Tuturro x reader
I really didn’t think this through, I mean I did this is what I signed up for. Knee deep in cocaine, surrounded by gangsters. Watching the leader beat the absolute lights out of his wife. Laura, she was to sweet of a woman to be married to him. He thought she was a rat, giving information to the police. That was his reasoning behind the beating, not that he ever gave one before.
He was right, not about her being the mole though. And it was the FBI not the police. You’ve been with the bureau for about four years, at Graceland for three. This is the deepest you’ve ever been undercover. The caza cartel was no joke, you were under as the leaders right hand the previous 2nd in command got sloppy one day and we caught him and got him to flip, he vouched for me saying I was his niece, to get a lighter sentence. that got me close quick.
After not being able to see the difference between Laura’s smeared red lipstick and blood does he turn his attention on you.
Letting the woman drop to the floor.
“Finish her!”
Héctor has done a lot of things, obviously or else he wouldn’t be in the position he is. But you didn’t think he would want you to kill his wife.
“Héctor I,” your protest being cut short as a hard slap hits against your cheek.
“I didn’t ask, it was an order!” Spit Flying over your face as he screams, pressing a gun into your stomach.
Unbeknownst to you, Johnny was raising hell a few warehouses down at command.
“Send the team in now!”
Briggs releases a sigh as Johnny paces worried for your safety. If he think no one can tell he has feelings for you he’s crazier then Briggs thought.
“I want her out just as much as you do, we have to wait.”
At that he stops pacing turning to Briggs eyes wide and shoulders tense.
“For what? For him to shoot her, you know what Caza is capable of!”
Before he can reply a sharp gunshot sounds through the radios. Not caring about protocol anymore Briggs yells for the team to move in. Johnny being the first out the door, you had to be okay, he couldn’t live with himself is he let something happen to you.
Busting down the door into chaos, bullets flying everywhere, Johnny trying his best to find you without getting shot. He finally sees you on the ground in a puddle of blood.
Stopping dead in his step he wasn’t prepared to see your body just laying there.
He can’t lose you not now, not ever.
It wasn’t until Briggs ran past him and kneeled next your body that you roll off Laura, that Johnny can finally breath again.
Not being able to wait any longer to have you in his arms, he almost tackles you, groaning under his weight and the firm tactical gear.
“Johnny don’t squish her, give the medics some room.”
When Briggs said that Johnny saw the fresh blood dripping down your arm. It wasn’t just Laura’s blood in the ground, it was yours too.
Not getting a closer look as the medics usher you to the nearby ambulance.
Charlie was waiting for you at the hospital like the mother hen she was. She loved you but she did put a towel down so you don’t bleed on her seats.
“Before we get home you should know, Johnny and Paul got into it.”
She said nonchalantly but gave me the side eye gauging my reaction.
“What! Why?”
“Apparently Briggs took to long sending the team in and you got hurt because of it.”
“Seriously! I got hurt because I was in the middle of a cartel, it’s part of the job.”
Charlie scoffs at my words.
“For being FBI you sure are oblivious. He’s in love with you!”
No he’s not, there’s no way he has feelings for me. We’ve been friends since BUD/S that’s all it is, it has to be. Pulling Charlie aside to finish our conversation away from prying ears.
“I’ll make you a deal. Just look for flirting from Johnny for one night, if you don’t see it I’ll make you my special sauce and do all the dishes, if I’m right you do my paperwork for a month.” “Deal!”
Being greeted by Paul, Jakes, Mike and Paige as soon as I walk into Graceland shooting off questions one after another. Assuring them that you’re fine, they give you space to go start the fire on the beach. It’s a tradition after we close a case.
Sipping a beer while staring at the fire, you start thinking of Johnny, just because he cared about your safety doesn’t mean anything, you’ve know each other for five years of course he cares! But sure there was some flirting, It didn’t mean anything. Sure you were hopelessly in love with him but if you can go under with cartels you can bury those feeling down.
Your eyes meeting chocolate brown ones that seem to glow in the light of the flames.
Sitting next to you pulling the flannel he dropped over your shoulders, knowing you always forget and end up shivering all night.
You’ve always been blunt, so instead of spending the rest of the night reading into everything Johnny says you just ask him.
“Are you flirting with me?”
“You finally noticed?”
Looking at the you he couldn’t help but smile, he always does but it’s definitely different when you’re around. He hated you taking this case but could understand why you did. You took it for Briggs, he couldn’t get closure so you did it for him. You’re always so selfless it’s one of the things that he loves about you also one of the things that drives him crazy when it comes to you.
So when he saw the love of absolute adoration mirrored on you face, he knew it was time to make the move.
“You know, I’m surprised it took you this long to figure it out.”
Johnny always teasing. Shaking your head pulling him closer with your good arm until your noses are almost touching.
“Please just kiss me already.”
Like always, your words were his command.
Hopy you guys liked this! Please send in request so I can do more!!!

~
Derek had been ranting in the corner of your room since he came to. Frustrated at Peter and the whole situation. But mostly frustrated at Peter.
The house had quieted down now. Esme had put Maggie to bed after two whole pots of valerian root tea and two half-burned lavender candles. The scent had meandered its way into your room.
You hadn’t moved since Marcus and Isaac—as you came to learn his name thanks to Stiles—helped carry Derek into the room. Isaac had actually apologised. It was all he could think to do. He apologised over and over like it was a second language. You’d stayed staring at the wooden stake Peter had given Derek for most of the night.
Peter was in a guest room on the farthest side of the house with Stiles and a man named Chris. Just like your father's name. Except this man's name was short for Christopher, not Christian.
Everyone wanted to tear Peter a new one, but they were also exhausted from cleaning the blood off the floors and throwing out the flower arrangements in the barn.
Caleb was fully passed out on painkillers meant for dogs the last time you checked. Jonah and the puppy had stayed with him to keep watch. Jonah shivered most of the night after the attack. He ran the warmest among the rest of the werewolves. He wasn’t cold. He was in shock. Your mother watched over him.
Derek was pacing now, “This is why everyone hates Peter! Because he always pulls shit like this. Ever since I was a kid he just had to be the one to—”
“Peter said he talked to Astrid. How could he do that if she’s dead?” You looked up at Derek for the first time since he started rambling. He froze like he had been caught in a lie—in a secret. “He also said Alyster was ‘walking around’ in your brain.”
Derek looked at you desperately, as if he was watching you slip away from him. He rushed to your side. You wrapped your arms around your chest defensively. He saw that as a loud signal telling him to not come any closer. He balled his fists and clenched his jaw, but there was no anger in his actions.
“Is this what you’ve been keeping from me?” You asked softly, not in the mood to raise your voice or shout. The events of the reception had drained you too much to have any fight left.
Derek sniffled and right then you wondered if you had scrubbed your nails hard enough. If there wasn’t a trace of Caleb’s blood still under them.
“I didn’t want to worry you,” Derek said.
“Worry me?” you huffed sarcastically. “All the good that did. I am worried. Maybe if you had told me earlier, if you had trusted me, maybe I wouldn’t be so worried. Maybe it wouldn’t have hurt as much…”
“I do trust you, baby,” his feet protested against his stillness. He wanted to move towards you. “More than anyone.”
“And yet you kept this from me,” you blinked several times, not wanting any tears to be shed. Enough tears had been shed today. “How could you ask me about marriage when you weren’t ready to tell me about…To tell me about anything.” You sighed. “When we got back to Beacon Hills, when you asked me to move in with you, I thought those were signs that you were ready to open up to me. But you didn’t. It was like you were still on that cross-country trip we took. Still moving away from something. And now I realise I barely know you.”
“You do know me. You do. I was just trying to prote—”
You held up a finger, “Don’t. Just don’t. This wasn’t about me. This is about you.”
He gave in, collapsing on the bed with a defeated sigh, “You’re right.” He held his head in his hands. “I was trying to protect myself. I didn’t want to admit there was anything wrong. I didn’t want you to look at me differently if you knew what the mark meant. I just wanted to be happy. Normal.”
“I come from a family of werewolves yet I can’t shift. My sister married a druid. You’re a werewolf. And the only family member you have left is two limbo bars shy of crazy. We are never going to be normal Derek.”
Derek touched the ring dangling around his neck, “He’s not the only family I have left.”
You looked up to the ceiling, not surprised there was more waiting to come out the woodwork.
“I have a niece, Malia.” He tried to smile. It didn’t come. “She’s a werecoyote.”
Had the situation been different, you might have laughed. You guessed that was his intention; to make you laugh, or at the very least to hear you laugh. You stayed silent.
“I’m not good at this,” Derek continued. “The family stuff, dating…trusting people. Letting them in. Letting them see me. Letting you see me.”
“Are you afraid I won’t like what I see?”
“Yes. And no. The people I let in have a habit of dying around me…or turning on me. I never told you about the root cellar, did I?”
“No.”
“The first girl I—I ever…”
Your voice came out raspier than you intended, words weighing heavily on you: “Love?”
He looked up at you, there were tears in his eyes. Unshed, but shaking for release. He looked back down, his long hair covering the sides of his face. He nodded.
A pang of hurt ran through you. Suddenly your mouth went dry and blinking no longer helped keep your own tears back. You wiped them off before they could fall. It dawned on you that he never corrected 'Love' to 'Loved'.
“Her name was Paige…” He held his hands tightly.
Paige, you thought. The girl you love was named Paige.
Derek told you everything. The good. The bad. The uncomfortably blunt truths of his past. He told you about Kate and the Argents. About his weird metamorphosis into his true wolf form, something that happened thanks to Kate, again. He told you about him and Jennifer. Him and Braeden. It was a lot to take in. Your perception of him changed too. You couldn’t tell whether that was a good thing or not. It was scary, learning there were more sides to the man you thought you knew so well.
When Derek had finished talking, he waited for you to say something. And even though the magnitude of what he told you was…incredibly large to swallow in one sitting, your mind kept going back to one thing: Paige.
“You still love Paige, don’t you?”
Derek frowned as though you asked him if the sun rose in the east, “She was my first love of course I—”
Is that why you can’t say it? You wondered. Do you even love me?
“Hey, hey, hey,” Derek reached out his hands to your face.
You pulled away and looked in the mirror, “Great. I told myself I wasn’t going to cry.”
Derek looked at his hands as if they were a foreign part of him, changed in some way. Then he dropped them listlessly onto his thigh.
“Is he always present?” You changed the subject back to Derek. “Was he there when we were…”
“No, never!” He answered quickly. “Alyster comes and goes as he pleases, but usually he sticks to daylight hours. It’s like he knows when I’m…more likely to listen to him. Level headed, I mean.”
“The man who killed my ex-boyfriend is living in my current boyfriend’s mind.” You laughed, “Does he tell you to kill me when he pops up? Is he listening to us right now?”
Derek winced as if you had slapped him, “This is why I didn’t tell you.”
“You didn’t tell me a lot of things apparently.”
When you glanced back at Derek you realised you’d gone too far, been too harsh. The green of his eyes was so clear and pained. It was then that you noticed you felt anger towards him. That was the only way you could explain the fact you didn’t feel in the least bit bad for what you said. Even if it was harsh.
“I think its best if we sleep in separate rooms tonight,” was all you said as you turned away from Derek.
Derek didn’t say anything. His hands didn’t reach for you again. And he didn’t try to look you in the eye this time. When he closed the door behind him, you took the first real breath since the reception. Your head felt heavy and you didn’t know why. You got what you wanted, time alone, but why did it feel like you had lost all the same?
You looked at your reflection, anger shining through with the first light of dawn sneaking through the blinds.
“Did you want him to stay?” You asked your reflection. “Did you want him to fight to stay?”
Yes, your subconscious answered. We wanted him to stay.

Yandere prompt 21 with Kakyoin please?
Welp I just want to say before we start that the Yakuza scam that is mentioned is actually a true story that my Japanese teacher told the class about as a warning about all of the corruption that happens in Tokyo.
Anyway here's the fic
Foreign treasure
(Yandere Kakyoin X Female Reader)
Kakyoin couldn't help but stare at the new exchange student, her name was (Y/n) (L/n). He couldn't help but lose focus in his classes as he looked at her. Her soft (h/c) hair, her stunning (E/C) eyes that gleamed in the sun like jewels. She truely was a foreign treasure.
He wanted her to know he existed but was to shy to even give direct eye contact, little more actually speak to her.
🍒🍒🍒
"That'll be 1500 yen" the shop clerk said. Kakyoin looked through his wallet and picked out the notes and coins in his hand. 1155 yen, it wasn't enough to pay for his lunch and drink. He felt embarrassed and he didn't know what to say until a hand grazed against his as they placed a 1000 yen note in his hand.
"You can keep the change" a familiar soft voice said. He looked to his side to see the familiar (h/c)ed female, giving him a smile that was possibly sweeter then any candy.
"Uh... O, thanks" he stuttered in embarrassment.
"No problem, sorry if I scared you" she said as her smile grew.
"No you didn't" he said as he handed the clerk the money and grabbed the plastic bag.
"Your name's Kakyoin, right?" She asked him.
"Y... Yes" he stuttered.
"Well I'm (Y/n)" she said as she took his hand and shook it.
His heart skipped a beat as he felt her holding his hand and the butterflies grew in his stomach.
"Everytime I've seen that you've always been alone, what's up with that?" She asked as they both walked out.
"I just think that it's more important to study then socialise" he lied.
"Oh, I just thought you might've of been lonely..." You sighed.
"Thou that's nothing to be ashamed of, back in my country I'm pretty lonely at school" she said to him.
"It's so much nicer here. Everything's cleaner, the streets the houses, even the people" she said.
"Oh I'm sorry... I must rambling" she apologized.
"No, no it's perfectly fine, I enjoy listening to y- people" he said avoiding to say you to not sound creepy but it was the truth, he did enjoy listening to you. On many occasions he had used his stand to possess others just so he could hear her voice. He had even used a possessed to stalk you, but to his misfortune she had caught him and ran off too quickly for him to follow.
"What are you listening to?" He asked as he saw her headphones that were plugged into a cassette player, he could hear the tune ever so faintly.
"Oh... I'm not sure if you know him... Then again you Japanese sure do have a love of western music" she replied.
"Even if I don't I'm sure he's great"
"Well if you must know... I'm listening to Sting" she said. His eyes light up with suprise.
"You like Sting, He's my favourite musician" he said, trying so desperately to his his joy. Him and her were so much alike, he just knew that she had to have some feeling for him.
Over the weeks he seemed so much brighter, every week day he jumped out of bed excited to see you once more but one day you had to leave, this was only a exchange program. You had to go back.
"(Y/n) I just wanted to give you something before you go!" He yelled as he tried to catch up to catch up to her as he held an envelope in his hand.
"Yes?" She asked as she stopped.
"Here" he said as he put the envelope in her hand.
"Don't open it now, but please reply when you get back" he asked her.
"Of course" she said.
But she never did...
🍒🍒🍒
Several years had passed and the year was 1996 and the world was a different place, especially after the crusaders back in 85. They had all gone their separate ways. Polnareff had gone back to France, Joseph had gone back to America, Jotaro had left Japan shortly after graduating and was now a marine biologist as well as a husband and father.
And Kakyoin... He had decided that he would just stay in Japan and live a normal, quiet life. He had a office job in the heart of Tokyo, occasionally doing a bit of painting but over all the years he never forgot about the (h/C) haired female, he still had some delusional hope that he may one day get a response. He still remembered what he had written. A confession, a declaration and a promise of love for her.
🍒🍒🍒
It was like every Tuesday night. He was heading back to his apartment through a park when he saw two small children, a boy and girl around 5 and 7 playing around, he could tell they were foreigners.
One accidentally bumped into him and apologized before a woman ran towards them.
"I'm so sorry about that sir" a familiar voice said.
He felt the butterflies that had once been in his stomach as he saw her.
"(Y/n)..." Was all that came out of his mouth. The lady looked into his eyes. God he didn't think she could have gotten anymore beautiful but he had been proven wrong, she had aged so well.
"Kakyoin..." She softly replied before hugging him.
"God Kakyoin, it sure is a small world we live in" she said.
"Mommy who's this" the little girl asked. He felt his insides twist as he heard her say Mommy, had you really just forgotten him and just gotten with someone else.
"Oh he's a friend I made while I studied here years ago" she explained.
"Could you guys go on the play over there, I want to talk with with Kakyoin, if that's ok with you?" She said as she sat down on the small garden wall.
"Yes that's ok, I don't have any plans" he said as he sat next to her. The two children the ran around the park but always kept in her view.
"Wow I really can't believe you became a mother, where's the lucky man?" he sighed, he was truly horrified by this discovery.
"It's a long story" she sighed.
"I don't mind a long story" he said pulling a slightly amused voice in attempt to cheer you up.
"Well Paige and Matthew are actually my niece and nephew but their parents were involved in a horrific car crash, their father died instantly and their mother wasn't recovering in hospital. She knew that she wasn't going to make it... A few hours later she passed away as well, she told me she only wanted me to adopt them before she did, so for her dying wish I did, I've never been able to land a guy since then because let's be honest who wants to hustle with a single mom" she said before letting out a chuckle at the end. Relief washed over him,  she hadn't settled down. He still had hope.
She look at the time before telling him she needed to get the kids back to her friend's house that she was staying at before giving him her number.
"If your free maybe I could take you to a bar on Friday? I just really want some more time to catch up" he said.
"Sure, I think that could work, I could have the kids stay home with Natsuko and her kids" she replied.
"Then it's settled"
🍒🍒🍒
"Is this the place?" she asked.
"Yes" he replied as he brought her into the small bar, it wasn't much and it didn't have a lot of patrons either but that's what he liked about it. She took a seat before waving the bartender over.
"Could I please order a long island iced tea?" She asked which the bartender nodded.
"That's pretty strong..." He remarked as he sat next to her.
"Yeah, but it's nice" she replied.
"And I'd like a Cherry buzz" he said.
"Cherry buzz? I've never heard of a cocktail like that" she said.
"Yeah it's one of this bars signature drinks. Cherry brandy, milk, and a shot of coffee. I know it's not the manliest of drinks but I enjoy it" he explained.
"So tell me what you done with your life besides becoming an instant mother?" He asked her before the bartender handed them their drinks.
"Well prior to being a mom wasn't much, I had boring job as a waitress but awhile after adopting Paige and Matthew I decided to become a children's book writer and illustrator. That's actually one of the reasons I came back to Japan, to get some inspiration for a new book and also to show the kids how great this place is" she explained before taking a sip.
"Wow that great to hear" he said.
"But I will warn you that Tokyo is very different to the rest of Japan, the Yakuza have their firm grip over it and target foreigners often, even I got scammed by them once" he continued.
"Really how?"
"It's kind of embarrassing, shortly after moving into Tokyo I went to a bar to get something to drink, a few ladies asked if they could sit by me and I said yes... Turns out the bar was linked to a nearby brothel and they were prostitutes... I hadn't done anything with them but the bar charged me an absurd amount for them because I'd had a few conversations with them. They wouldn't let me leave until I paid up" he explained before sipping his drink.
"Wow it's pretty scary how easily it can happen" she replied.
"Yeah" he lightly chuckled.
"Hey could I ask you something?" She asked.
"Sure, go ahead"
"What happened to you eyes?"
"oh just some unfriendly locals in Egypt"
The night went on and on and on, she kept saying she'd stop drinking but Kakyoin would insist here to have another one and told her he'd pay until she was buzzed up enough.
He sighed as he could feel her arms wrap around him, her mobility wasn't the best and she was nearly staggering. He completely relished in the fact that he was the one she was relying on.
"(Y/n) I'll take you home, it's to dangerous for you to walk by yourself" he cooed as he tangled his fingers in her soft locks while walking her through the city until she spoke up.
"We were supposed to make a left turn..." She muttered, a sliver of worry in her voice.
"I'm taking you back to mine, I'm sure Natsuko will understand that you just got a little bit too drunk" he said.
Despite the seeming kind act that Kakyoin was displaying she couldn't help but have that gut feeling telling her something was up.
"No no, I want to go back to her's please I know it's a little extra to walk but I'd just feel a bit safer there" she said but he ignored her and continued to follow his intended path until she began to struggle.
He quickly used his stand to control her. Her body pressed against his own as he finally got into his apartment. She muttered loving nothing to him and told him how much she loved him, but just using his stand to make her say it wasn't enough... He wanted her to say them honestly to him.
He lauded her on the small couch before locking the door. Then he released her from his possession.
She looked at him in fear as she realised what happened.
"Y...you, what did you do to me?" She stuttered.
"I knew you would try to run at some stage if I didn't, you should have no reason to be afraid of me but you seem to believe there is" he said as he approached the female who stood up. As he tried to embrace her she pushed him away.
"Leave me alone!" She screamed.
"(Y/n) calm down your drunkenness is effecting your mind" he explained as he tried to approach her again but I was becoming a repeating cycle of being pushed away. Eventually he grew sick and tired of this stupid game of back and forward.
Her body stiffened and moved unnaturally, like she was struggling against restraints. She couldn't see the cause but he could.
"Why?! Why are you-?!" She yelled before another of limb of his stand covered her mouth.
"(Y/n) I missed you so much after you left... I've been waiting for all these years hoping you would reply to my letter, I can't bare the thought of you leaving me again" he said.
"All I want is you, all I've ever wanted was you... I just want you to never leave me, I don't care about the fact that your a mother... I just want you to stay with me forever" he explained, almost as if he was on the verge of tears but his face did not reflect that sadness in his voice, the blank piercing gaze on his face showed the twisted emotion that he believed was love.

Where We Belong - Part 2
Dean x Reader (AU)
Summary: The reader’s best friend, Sam Winchester, is tragically killed. Now Dean and the reader must work together to give a young girl a good life. Will they find themselves a home in the process?
Word Count: 2200+
A/N: Yay, part two! :)  It took me a while to trudge through this chapter, but I’m pretty happy with it.  Just a warning - So. Much. Angst.  I’d love to hear what you think as my New Years present :) Enjoy!
P.S. I recommend listening to Not Your Enemy by Jesse McCartney while reading this. It came on as I was writing and felt perfect!

MASTERLIST
The front door of the apartment creaked slightly when you opened it, reminding you to buy some lubricant the next time you were out. Pushing it the rest of the way in with your heel, you tightened your grip on the bankers box and took a deep breath before crossing the threshold.
“Dean, I’m back.” Unsurprisingly, there wasn’t a response.
You took the box and found your way to Sam’s bedroom. It was the safest place for it since neither you nor Dean go in there unnecessarily. It hurt, but you managed to get in and out of the room without reverting back to the meltdown you had had less than an hour ago.
Dean was sitting at the small kitchen table with a laptop in front of him. Two empty beer bottles were also visible - a third clutched tight in Dean’s left hand. He took a swig then. You let out a small sigh and grabbed the empties to throw away. Once that was done you turned back to face him.
“Dean, I don’t know how many more times I can ask you not to drink when you are watching Paige,” you softly scolded him.
He looked worse than he did before you left the apartment this morning. His plain black tee was crumpled, light brown hair disheveled and he clearly hadn’t bothered to shave in a few days. His eyes were red from lack of sleep and drinking.
Annoyed that he was continuing to ignore you, you moved to see what he was glaring at on the screen. Your face dropped at the title of the article.
Mentally Ill College Student Shoots Professor
It was one you had already seen, a few days old. You had hoped Dean would ignore them, but it was impossible. You didn’t live in the biggest of cities and this was the news of the year so there had been all kinds of coverage.
Makes it kind of hard to miss the boy who claimed to have killed the devil.
“Looking at that isn’t going to help anyone,” you reached over Dean’s shoulder and closed the laptop.
His glare immediately zeroed on you, almost making you flinch. Almost. It had, after all, begun to lose its effectiveness after two weeks of constant use. You knew it wasn’t really you he was directing his anger at. You just had the pleasure of being the sounding board.
“I’ll look at what I damn well please,” Dean snapped. Another swig of beer. Your patience was rapidly decreasing.
“Okay, first of all do not snap at me. Second-”
“They don’t care, Y/N! These goddamn reporters don’t even care about him. All they care about is that psychopath!” he yelled, not able to say either man’s name out loud.
That psychopath being Maven Stacey, your best friend’s killer.
He took a gun to class with the explicit intent of using it on his professor: Sam Winchester. He was evil. Satan. And Maven shouted that the devil must be destroyed. You hated this man for what he took from you.
Except he wasn’t a man. Not really. He was a scared, paranoid 19-year-old kid diagnosed with schizophrenia and raised by a single mother. And for this, you had the upmost empathy. All in all, you weren’t sure how to feel about Maven Stacey.
Dean, however, felt nothing but rage. All he knew was his brother was taken away from him- just like his parents were in his youth.
“These articles are all about him and what made him kill a man. All my brother has gotten out of this is a disgraced name.”
You unconsciously rubbed at your chest. That feeling in your heart was returning and you didn’t like it. Dean was in pain and there was nothing you could do about it, only making you dig the heel of your palm harder into your skin.
“Dean, no one who knew Sam would believe a word of it. At this point, it’s all we can hope for,” you said, needing to change the subject. “Now keep your voice down befo-”
You heard cries come from the baby monitor sitting on the counter, interrupting your sentence. You let out a breath. Before that happened.
Paige was up.
There was a beat of silence as you and Dean took in what the lawyer sitting across from you had just said.
"I’m sorry... what?” you choked out.
“In the event that were anything to happen to Mr. Winchester, he had named yourself and his brother as Paige’s legal guardians,” Mr. Pratt repeated himself.
Sam... had a will? He was only 27!
“How... when... did you know about this?” you finally spat out a question, turning your head to watch Dean beside you. He shook his head.
You didn’t know what to think or how to feel. You’d just put your friend in the ground three hours ago. Now you had to think of a future of raising his daughter?
“Can’t she go somewhere else?”
You widened your eyes, head snapping to Dean at the sound of his deep voice. He hadn’t spoken all day but the second he does he wants to send his niece away? Before you could berate him for asking such a thing, Mr. Pratt was answering.
“Foster care would be the next stop. You are her last living family member - apart from the mother of course, but she gave up custody when the child was born.”
“We are not sending her away, Dean! What the hell?” You couldn’t understand it. Dean loved Paige. Was his pain and anger so much that he was going to push away any reminder of what he lost?
He wouldn’t meet your eyes. That’s exactly what he was thinking, wasn’t it? Your chest begun to throb so you rubbed at it lightly.
You spoke softly, “We are both hurting right now, but we aren’t the only ones. She may not understand it yet, but there is a little girl two rooms away who has just lost everything. Sound familiar?”
Dean’s green orbs flickered. Hesitating, you placed your hand over his own resting on his lap. When he didn’t retaliate you tightened your hold.
“We don’t give up on family,” you stated. You looked to the lawyer.
“What do we have to do?”
Thoughts of your morning spent cleaning out her father’s office returned full steam, but you refused to cry anymore today. It was only midday after all, and you had more important things to worry about.
Before you moved a foot toward Paige’s bedroom, Dean stood from his seat abruptly. “I’m going to the shop.”
“Dean, we still need to talk.”
He remained mute for a beat, grabbing his car keys and jacket. You followed him as he made his way to the front door. “Dean.”
“There’s nothing to talk about. I’m fine, you’re fine... we’re fine.”
“Neither of us is fine,” you stated bluntly. Paige’s whimpers continued on the monitor, as if emphasizing your point. Dean stared at you and clenched his jaw again. When he couldn’t stand the cries any longer he twisted the handle and cracked the door open.
“I have to stop by the Yard. I’ll tell your dad you say hi,” he looked away, slipping out the door without another word.
The urge to scream was prominent. Of course he left the moment she woke. He could still barely look at her, the resemblance to Sam too strong. It was a small blessing she could keep herself busy with toys without a playmate.
“D-da. Dadada...Da!” Paige continued to demand to be heard over the crackle of the monitor. You don’t waste another second, heading down the short hallway to her room. It was the only other bedroom in Sam’s apartment, sitting right across from the bathroom.
You opened the door to find Paige standing upright in her crib grasping onto the white bars. The room wasn’t big, but it was more than enough space for the 18 month old. Paige immediately reached for me.
“Hey little tulip, you have a good nap?”
She only answered with whimpers and continued to mime that she wanted out of her baby prison. You got a face full of blonde curls once Paige was in your arms. Her hair was just long enough now to put into small pigtails.
“Alright, let’s do a diaper change. Believe me, you’ll feel way better,” you said.
“Ba Ba,” Paige countered. You pushed hair out of her face, giving way to bright hazel eyes. You immediately felt the urge to follow Dean out that door. You weren’t seeing Paige anymore, but her father.
“Diaper first, then you get a bottle,” you forced a smile.
After she was clean and freshly dressed, you scooped her up and headed to the kitchen. You set her on the ground to play with her small toddler’s kitchen while you got her ‘bottle’ of milk. It was actually her favorite sippy cup with different colorful fish on it, but she never got out of the habit of calling her drink container a bottle.
While you were doing that, you decided on a sandwich for yourself. You hadn’t eaten this morning before you left. You handed the cup of milk to Paige then made a plate.
You ate at the table, staring into space as your thoughts overtook you. You thought of everything and nothing at once.
How you missed Sam’s smile. How tomorrow marked the two week anniversary of his passing. How satisfying your turkey sandwich was and that a cold beer would be heaven. How you couldn’t because of Paige. How Paige had a doctor’s appointment soon and you really needed Dean to come along. How you hadn’t heard from Charlie in a while. You missed her company.
“TeeTee!” Paige shouted eagerly. You came back to yourself to realize you’d been staring at Dean’s closed laptop.
“TeeTee!”
Paige held a pink plastic bowl out to you with two fake cookies nestled inside.  You take the bowl from her with a chuckle. She was adorably proud when she ‘cooked’ for people. You gave her an exaggerated thank you and pretended to eat the cookie.
“Just what I wanted. Good job, little tulip.”
The little girl giggled and clapped her hands together. You smiled easily and gave her a tap on the nose before she turned back to her kitchen.
When ten rolled around that night and Dean had yet to return, you tried to reach him. It wasn’t really unusual, his absence. But he still worried you. Tonight would be the night, you’d think. The night something in him completely snapped and he’d end up in jail or in a ditch or just never come back.
So it was a big surprise when he picked up.
“Hey. I was expecting your voicemail,” you said. Dean grunted.
“Yeah well, guess you got lucky. What’d ya need?” He slurred slightly. You could hear the familiar sounds of the local watering hole in the background. Again.
“I need you to quit getting drunk off your ass for one. Could use your help around here every once in a while. You know, with your niece?”
“For fuck’s sake, Y/N. Quit breathin down my neck. Your not my girlfriend,” Dean yelled down the phone.
You sighed, pinching your nose as you put the last of the dishes up. Thankful you waited until Paige was down to attempt this call. You were less prone to yell with her sleeping in mind.
“Believe me, I know without a doubt I am no such thing. You made that clear years ago,” you spat back. Anger made you brave. “But this isn’t about me. This is about you and this is about Paige.”
He’s quiet, then, “I’ll be there later.”
Later.
You felt something cold hit your hand. Goddamn him.
You swiped the tear away, your voice breaking when you respond.
“You know what? Don’t bother.” The phone made a loud thud when it hit the counter.
You blew out a steadying breath. Just get ready for bed. Everything will be fine. You rolled your eyes at yourself. Nonetheless, you locked the front door then went for your suitcase. A trip to your own apartment was due soon. You were low on clean clothes and a few other necessities.
It didn’t take long to slip on your tank and night pants and brush your teeth. You took a quick peek into Paige’s room before continuing to the couch with the monitor to construct your makeshift bed. You and Dean had been trading spots of the couch or the floor. Dean had the couch tonight, but you’d decided he lost his privileges.
You tucked yourself in, semi-comfortable. But it was too quiet. Your head was still spinning from your phone conversation.
The TV flashed bright in the dark room. You lowered the volume to background noise then closed your eyes, exhausted.
You don’t know how long you stayed like that - on the verge of sleep. Before complete darkness took you though, you felt the scratchy material of the blanket move to settle under your chin and a warm hand brushed strands of hair away from your face.

“You can take away people’s pain?” (Y/n) eyes were glowing with curiosity as she gawked at Derek. He nodded his head, pushing aside his work. He knew that when she started asking questions about his abilities she wouldn’t stop anytime soon. “So if I stubbed my toe you could take the pain away?”
Derek chuckled, (y/n) was adorable when she got this excited. “Yes, I would be able to take away the pain”
She paused for a moment as if contemplating whether or not she actually wanted proof. (Y/n) closed her eyes, drawing back her foot before kicking the table leg. Derek was thankful that the library was practically empty when she started to curse. He reached for her hand, threading their fingers together, before transferring her pain to himself. When he glanced up to see if (y/n) was still in pain he saw that her eyes were glued to his forearm, fascinated as she watched the black veins slowly faded away.
“That was amazing” Derek snickered at her child-like amazement, watching as she wiggled her foot to test if the pain was completely gone. “What else can you do?”
He thought for a moment, trying to think of something that would intrigue her, “My eyes glow”
(Y/n)’s eyes widened, she stood up quickly, rounding the table to tug him to his feet as well. She pulled him in between the shelves of books and when they were out of sight she stopped, looking up at him expectantly. Derek breathed deeply, shutting his eyes as he focused. After a couple of seconds, they fluttered open, having transformed from their usual pale green to an icy blue. (Y/n) gasped quietly, her eyes locking with his.
“They’re beautiful, Derek’’ He wanted to smile but he hung his head, the memories of Paige flooding back. She seemed to sense his grief, pulling him into her warm embrace. Derek’s arms wound around her waist as she threaded her fingers through his hair. He buried his head in the crook of his neck, silently vowing to protect (y/n) for as long as he could so she wouldn’t suffer the same fate as Paige.
When they eventually pulled away, she cupped his cheek, tenderly brushing away the tears that had collected there. Derek leant into her touch, allowing himself a moment of weakness. He turned his head slightly to press a kiss to her palm.
Clearing his throat, Derek pulled away from her intoxicating touch. He had to stop, he was pushing all the boundaries he’d set up to stop himself from ruining their relationship. But he couldn’t stop the butterflies from erupting in his stomach when (y/n) gazed at him fondly, or when she reached for his hand and rested her head against his chest.
“We should get back to our work” Derek’s voice was thick with emotion as he tried to clear his head. (Y/n) nodded, lifting her head from his chest. He leant down, pressing a tender kiss to her cheek. He couldn’t move away, not when he heard the tell-tale spike in her heartbeat. Derek looked into her eyes, before dropping his gaze to her lips. His eyes fluttered shut as he brushed his lips against her. She sighed into the kiss, threading her fingers through his soft hair, pressing their lips together more firmly. Derek responded by wrapping his arms around her, pulling her body flush against his chest, unable to believe that this was actually happening. Eventually, they broke apart, both breathless. (Y/n) kept her eyes shut, a trickle of fear made its way down Derek’s chest, thinking that he’d made a mistake and that she regretted it.
She slowly blinked her eyes open, offering him a shy smile. She opened her mouth to speak but was cut off by the ringing of her phone. Pulling it from her pocket, her face dropped. She shot Derek an apologetic smile before answering it. He heard the rapid increase of her heartbeat as she all but ran back to their table to get her stuff. (Y/n) was stuffing her belongings into her bag as she tried to get the person on the phone to calm down. When she ended the call, tears were running down her face.
“I’m sorry, I have to go. That was my sister-in-law- my brother-I need to go” Derek could only nod as he watched (y/n) run out of the library. He stood for a moment, cursing himself for not following her and offering to help in any way he could. Packing up his own things, Derek trudged out of the building, lost in his own thoughts.
Two days passed and Derek hadn’t heard a word from (y/n), he tried calling but it always went to voicemail and his texts were left unanswered. He checked his phone for the millionth time that day, sighing when he saw that no messages had come through. He rested his head in his hands, running his fingers through his messy hair. Dread pooled in his stomach, all he could think was that he’d ruined their relationship. Derek had to remind himself that (y/n) had kissed him back, but then he would remember the way she ran. He knew that wasn’t related to him, however, no matter how much his mind tried to convince himself that he was right, his heart disagreed.
Derek felt lost without her, normally they would be at the library right now, sipping at their coffees and chatting away before they started their work. He couldn’t face the library on his own, not with the memories that would linger there now.
(Y/n) lifted her head from her hands when she heard a doctor approach, they smiled at her before walking into her brother’s room. Her niece, Evie, was tucked into her side, fast asleep in the uncomfortable hospital chairs. (Y/n) envied her, wishing that she could escape the chaos of the hospital for a moment by falling asleep. She ran her fingers through the six-year old’s hair as she tried to keep herself from crying. Her brother would be fine, they were only keeping him in for precaution, but that didn’t stop her mind from remembering the state he’d been in when she’d got to the hospital after being called about his accident. Blood had been smeared across his face as he lied perfectly still on his hospital bed. (Y/n) would kill for one of Derek’s hugs, they never failed to make her feel safe and at ease. Derek. She couldn’t believe he’d kissed her, she traced her fingers across her lips, closing her eyes at the memory. She hated herself for the look of panic and uncertainty she caused to form on his face when she ran. But her family had needed her and that was all she could think about. (Y/n) wanted to kiss him again - she wanted to kiss him all the time.
She smiled when her sister-in-law, Holly, came round the corner and sat next to her. “Go home, (y/n). They’re discharging him when he wakes up, we’ll be fine.” Holly pulled her into a one-armed hug, pressing a kiss to her temple. “Thank you so much for being here”
“No problem.” (Y/n) stood up, cautious not to disturb her niece. “I can’t wait to shower or eat real food” Holly laughed softly before waving goodbye. (Y/n) trudged out of the hospital, pulling her phone from her pocket to call a taxi when she realised the battery was flat. She sighed, making her way towards the bus stop next to the hospital.
(Y/n) rested her head against the cool glass of the window, trying to process everything that had happened over the last two days. She had no idea what to say to Derek. What if he regretted it and just wanted to be friends? (Y/n) tried to tell herself that she’d be okay with that but she knew in her heart she was always going to want more.

Title: Coming Home to You
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Paige Bueckers x Reader
Fandom: UConn Women’s Basketball
Summary: it’s senior night a very big night for Paige indeed.. and you can’t miss it not when you’re each other’s home
Tumblr media
For the past few weeks, keeping this secret had been absolute torture. Every time Paige texted me about how much she wished I could be at her senior night, my heart ached. I wanted to tell her, wanted to ease that longing in her voice, but I knew it would be worth it. Everyone was in on it—her teammates, the coaching staff, even her parents. The only person in the dark? Paige herself.
Now, as I sat on the plane with my niece squirming beside me, I felt the anticipation bubbling in my chest.
“Auntie, are we there yet?” my five-year-old niece, Aria, whined, her little legs swinging beneath her seat.
“Almost, baby,” I reassured her, smoothing down her curls. “Paige is gonna be so happy to see you.”
She grinned, showing off the gap where she had just lost a tooth last week. “She’s gonna be so surprised, right?”
I laughed, nodding. “Yeah, she has no idea we’re coming.”
Aria giggled, kicking her feet harder. She adored Paige, and the feeling was mutual. Anytime we FaceTimed, Paige always asked about her, sending little gifts and promising to teach her how to dribble properly one day.
As the plane began its descent, my stomach tightened. I had spent months away from Paige, only seeing her through a screen, listening to her talk about the season, about how it felt knowing this was her final year in a UConn jersey. She deserved to have her people there, and I needed to be there for her—just like she’d always been for me.
By the time we landed, the rush of excitement made my fingers tingle. Paige’s mom picked us up, greeting us with a warm hug before driving straight to campus. The plan was simple: hide in the tunnels until the seniors were honored, then walk out as they announced her name.
Aria bounced in her car seat, unable to contain herself. “I wanna run to Paige first! Can I? Can I?”
“Of course, baby,” I smiled, pressing a kiss to her temple. “She’s gonna love it.”
Game Night: Gampel Pavilion
The energy inside Gampel was electric. The crowd was buzzing, the students loud as ever, and the court gleamed under the bright lights. My heart pounded as I hid just behind the tunnel entrance, holding Aria’s hand tightly while the announcer began reading out names.
Each senior walked out to cheers, their families meeting them at center court. Paige was the last one to be called.
“And finally, our captain, our leader—number five, Paige Bueckers!”
The crowd erupted. My breath hitched as I peeked around the tunnel, watching Paige step forward, waving to the fans, her eyes already glassy with emotion. She thought her parents were the only ones waiting for her—but that was about to change.
“Now,” I whispered to Aria, squeezing her hand before letting go.
She took off like a shot.
“PAIGE!”
Paige barely had time to turn before Aria’s tiny body launched herself at Paige’s legs. Her arms instinctively wrapped around Aria, shock flashing across her face before realization dawned.
“What—? Aria?” Her voice cracked, looking down at the little girl clinging to her.
That’s when I stepped out.
The second Paige’s eyes met mine, everything around us seemed to fade. Her mouth parted in disbelief, her hands still frozen around Aria as if she thought she might be dreaming.
I smiled, my throat tightening. “Hey, baby.”
The moment shattered as she let go of Aria and practically ran to me, wrapping me up in the tightest hug imaginable.
“You’re here,” she whispered, her voice trembling against my ear.
“I’m here,” I murmured, holding onto her just as tightly. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world.”
She pulled back slightly, cupping my face with both hands, her thumbs brushing over my cheeks as if she needed to make sure I was real. “You—you flew all the way here? When? How? Why didn’t you tell me?”
I laughed, my own tears welling up. “Because I wanted to surprise you. Everyone knew except you.”
She shook her head, laughing through her disbelief. “You’re evil.”
“You love me, though,” I teased.
Her grin softened into something more tender. “Yeah,” she murmured, pressing her forehead to mine. “I really, really do.”
The crowd was still cheering, the moment stretching between us as if we were the only two people in the gym. Paige’s hands never left my face, and I could feel her heart racing just as fast as mine.
“This is the best surprise ever,” she whispered.
I bit my lip, glancing down at Aria, who was grinning up at us, completely unbothered by the fact that she had just helped execute the best senior night surprise in history. “I had some help.”
Paige laughed, ruffling Aria’s curls before scooping her up into her arms. “You little sneak,” she teased.
Aria giggled, hugging Paige’s neck. “I missed you, P!”
“I missed you too, munchkin.” Paige pressed a kiss to her cheek before turning back to me. “God, I can’t believe you’re actually here.”
“I wasn’t gonna let you finish this without me,” I said, reaching out to squeeze her hand. “You deserve to have the people who love you here, Paige.”
Her expression softened, and she tugged me close again, this time pressing a lingering kiss to my forehead. “I don’t know how I got so lucky,” she whispered.
I smiled. “I think we both got lucky.”
She let out a soft laugh before glancing at the crowd, then back at me. “You’re staying for a while, right?”
I nodded. “For as long as you’ll have me.”
Her grin turned into something mischievous. “That’s a dangerous offer, baby.”
“I’m serious.” I squeezed her hand. “I don’t wanna be apart anymore. I wanna be with you.”
For a moment, she just stared at me, and then—right there, in front of everyone—she leaned in and kissed me.
It was soft, sweet, and full of every unspoken word between us.
When she pulled away, her eyes were bright, full of something deeper than happiness. “Then stay,” she murmured. “Stay with me.”
I grinned. “You don’t even have to ask.”
She kissed me again, and this time, I knew—no matter where life took us, no matter what came next—I would always come home to her.
Paige’s POV
The adrenaline from senior night hadn’t worn off, but the moment we stepped inside my apartment, exhaustion hit me like a freight train. The last few hours had been a blur—cheers, speeches, hugs, and the overwhelming joy of seeing her again. Seeing them again.
Aria clung to me the entire time, refusing to let go even after we left the arena. Every time I tried to pass her off to her aunt, she just tightened her grip around my neck, mumbling, “I missed you too much.”
I wasn’t gonna fight her on it. I missed her too.
Now, after a well needed shower, the little girl was curled up against my chest, completely knocked out, her tiny fingers still clutching the front of my hoodie like she was scared I’d disappear again.
I glanced over at the love of my life—because that’s what she was, no doubt about it—as she set her bag down by the door, stretching out her arms with a soft groan.
“You look dead,” I teased, my voice barely above a whisper.
She shot me a tired glare, but the small smile on her lips told me she wasn’t really mad. “I feel dead. That flight, the sneaking around, wrangling her—” she gestured at the sleeping child nestled in my arms. “I deserve a medal.”
I laughed, adjusting Aria slightly so she wouldn’t slip. “You deserve a lot more than that.”
Her expression softened, and she stepped closer, reaching out to brush a stray curl from Aria’s forehead. “She missed you like crazy, you know.”
“I missed her too,” I murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of Aria’s head.
Her eyes flickered to mine, something unreadable in them. “And me?”
I smirked, tilting my head slightly. “You? Who’s that?”
Her jaw dropped. “Oh, okay. That’s how we’re playing this?”
I bit my lip to hold back a laugh, but the playful glare she shot me made it impossible. “Come here,” I said softly, and the teasing faded from her face.
She stepped between my legs, resting her hands on my shoulders as I pulled her closer with one arm, the other still supporting Aria.
“You know I missed you,” I murmured, letting my forehead rest against hers.
Her breath hitched, and I could feel the weight of the months apart in the way she exhaled, like she was finally letting herself breathe again.
“I hate being away from you,” she admitted quietly. “I hated every second of it.”
I tightened my hold on her waist, pressing my lips to her temple. “Then don’t be.”
Her fingers dug into the fabric of my hoodie. “You make it sound so simple.”
“Because it is,” I murmured, pulling back just enough to look into her eyes. “You said you wanted to stay. So stay. I don’t care how we make it work—I just know I don’t wanna go another night without you.”
She swallowed hard, searching my face like she was trying to memorize every detail. “Paige…”
“I’m serious.” I brushed my thumb over her cheek, letting myself get lost in her warmth. “I love you. I don’t wanna keep doing this long-distance thing when we both know where this is going.”
Her breath caught in her throat, and she let out a shaky laugh. “And where’s that?”
I gave her a knowing look. “Where do you think?”
Her lips parted slightly, her eyes flickering between mine, and I could see the exact moment she realized I meant every word.
“You mean—”
“I mean,” I cut her off gently, “that I see forever when I look at you.”
Her face crumbled, and she let out a soft, shaky breath before pressing her lips to mine. It wasn’t rushed or desperate—just right. Just home.
When she pulled away, her forehead rested against mine, and she whispered, “I see forever with you too.”
I smiled, feeling something settle deep in my chest. “Good.”
A tiny, sleepy voice suddenly mumbled between us.
“Paige?”
We both froze before glancing down. Aria stirred slightly, blinking up at me with half-lidded eyes.
“Yeah, munchkin?”
Her tiny hand reached up to touch my cheek, her voice drowsy. “Don’t go away again.”
I swallowed the lump in my throat, holding her just a little bit closer. “I’m not going anywhere, baby.”
She sighed contently, snuggling deeper into my hoodie.
I glanced at the love of my life, who was watching us with nothing but pure adoration in her eyes.
Home wasn’t a place. It was this. It was her. It was the sleepy little girl in my arms, the steady heartbeat against mine, and the unspoken promise that we’d never have to say goodbye again.
I had everything I needed right here.
