Unpacking Nuuha’s Skincare Range
I had the privilege of trying several products from the Nuuha line, including the now-discontinued Ceraglow Brightening Serum, the 10X Soothing Complex Hyper Relief Serum, the Mugwort Hydra Bright Gentle Daily Foam Cleanser, the 7X Peptide Ultimate Glass Skin Moisturizer, and the Ultra Glow Brightening Serum Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ over the past three months. And here's my honest review after putting these products to the test.
Disclaimer: This review is based solely on my personal experience and may differ from others’ opinions. Your experience with these products may vary.
Serum
Ceraglow Brightening Serum (Discontinued)
Target concerns: hyperpigmentation, blemish scars, discoloration, uneven skin tone, and a damaged skin barrier.
Ingredients Overview: Aqua, Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate, Niacinamide, Panthenol, Alpha-Arbutin, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Triethylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Centella Asiatica, Ceramide NP, Methylpropanediol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Tetrasodium EDTA
Verdict: ⭐️
This product was marketed as being highly effective for acne, fading hyperpigmentation, and calming irritated skin. However, I found it too potent for my skin, which was disappointing. It caused breakouts and large pimples, leaving behind a stubborn bump under my chin that I couldn’t fully get rid of. I eventually stopped using it. Thank Lord this product is no longer on the market.
[I was relieved when Nuuha later reformulated it into two separate serums (10X Soothing Complex Hyper Relief Serum and 4X Brightening Complex Advanced Glow Serum) to cater to different skin sensitivities.]
*Unlike the other products in the Nuuha range, I used this one in 2022/2023.
2. 10X Soothing Complex Hyper Relief Serum
Target Concerns: damaged skin barrier, redness and acne.
Ingredients Overview: Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Hydroxyacetophenone, Butylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Panthenol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Allantoin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Centella Asiatica Extract, Disodium EDTA, Octyldodecanol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Agrimonia Pilosa Extract, Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Ceramide NP, Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Asiaticoside.
Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
One bottle lasted me about a month and a half, with a usage of twice a day. Unfortunately, I was mildly disappointed, especially since I had seen rave reviews on TikTok and found the host's live presentation very convincing.
I used the serum alongside Jumiso Hyaluronic Toner occasionally, and even when I stopped using the toner to isolate the serum’s effect, there wasn’t much noticeable change and the overall results were still underwhelming. The serum did help soothe some of the existing acne but failed to prevent it from resurfacing.
I know my review may seem a bit critical, but I encourage you to give it a try. The ingredients are highly regarded for their skin-soothing and restorative properties, and it might work differently for you. Skincare is often about finding the right match for your individual skin type, so it’s worth exploring if you are interested in the benefits this serum promises.
Cleanser
Mugwort Hydra Bright Gentle Daily Foam Cleanser
Target Concerns: damaged skin barrier, dull skin tone and acne.
Ingredients Overview: Water, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Betaine, Lauryl Betaine, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Polyquaternium-39, Allantoin, Pentylene Glycol, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Sodium Benzoate, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract (Mugwort), Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Streptococcus Thermophilus Ferment, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Beta-Glucan, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Ceramide NP, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Potassium Hyaluronate.
Verdict: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The idea that any cleanser will suffice because it only stays on your skin for a few minutes is simply false. A poor choice in cleanser can damage your skin barrier and lead to multiple breakouts—believe me, I’ve learned this the hard way.
What makes this cleanser stand out is its ability to cleanse without stripping my skin of moisture. I have tried numerous cleansers in the past, only to end up with a face that felt tight and devoid of natural oils. This one, however, lathers beautifully and does an excellent job of removing dirt without irritation. If you wear heavy makeup, though, be sure to double cleanse. And for those with oily skin, this cleanser can be used up to four times a day. However, if you have dry skin like mine, sticking to twice a day is ideal.
Overall, it’s simply a gentle, non-irritating cleanser that gets the job done as it should.
Moisturizer
7X Peptide Ultimate Glass Skin Moisturizer
Target Concerns: damaged skin barrier, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and uneven skin tone.
Ingredients Overview: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Potassium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ceramide NP, Ceramide N, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Oligopeptide-29, Oligopeptide-32, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Dimethicone, Capryly| Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Panthenol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Triethylhexanoin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Disodium EDTA, Isostearic Acid, Sucrose Stearate, PEG-8, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloy|dimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Squalane, Propanediol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Arginine, Pentylene Glycol, Carbomer, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Allantoin, Trehalose, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Phytosteryl/OctyldodecylLauroylGlutamate, Octyldodecanol, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Caprylic/Capric Glycerides.
Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I snagged two bottles and silently hoped it would be a game-changer, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a letdown. It didn't cause any breakouts or have a strange odor, but the lightweight formula didn’t quite cut it for me. Even after layering it 2-3 times, my skin still felt dry.
It did manage to address some old-dry spots on my forehead, which is a plus. However, given the ingredient list and the claims made,  I was hoping for a more substantial hydration boost. It’s a good moisturizer, that’s for sure, but while it’s not a total miss, it didn’t deliver the level of moisture I needed.
Sunscreen
1. Ultra Glow Brightening Serum Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ (Chemical Sunscreen)
Target Concerns: damaged skin barrier, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and uneven skin tone.
Ingredients Overview: Water, Homosalate, Dipropylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Alcohol Denat., Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Butylene Glycol, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Methoxy PEG/PPG-25/4 Dimethicone, Bis-PEG/PPG-20/5 PEG/PPG-20/5 Dimethicone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Octocrylene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Dimethicone, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Arginine, t-Butyl Alcohol, Prunus Mume Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Laurus Nobilis Leaf Extract, Cnidium Officinale Root Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Borago Officinalis Extract, Centaurea Cyanus Flower Extract, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Extract, Hyacinthus Orientalis (Hyacinth) Extract
Verdict: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
GAMECHANGER. Provides extra moisture to my skin? Check. Reduces dryness and flakiness? Check. Lightweight and non-greasy? Check. Doesn’t clog pores? Check. Layers well with other products? Check.
This sunscreen delivers on all fronts. Pssst. If you are a Muslim, you can simply wash your face to perform wudhuk without needing to double cleanse.
As someone with dry skin, I find this sunscreen to be remarkably effective. The lightweight formula provided ample hydration without feeling greasy, which is often a challenge with many sunscreens. I just wish they produced a sunstick with the same consistency and formula. Otherwise, I would have given it an ∞/5. Sorrows, prayers, sorrows.

Plant of the Day
Monday 1 June 2020
Putting on a display at the start of summer Rosa 'Climbing Iceberg' (rose, climbing floribunda) and white flowered Paeonia lactiflora 'White Wings' (peony). The floribunda rose will repeat flower up until December, whilst the peony flowers only once but the foliage has wonderful autumn colour. Both these plants were purchased from a market stall many years ago and always mark the start of summer for me.

Windowsill of Curiosities: Pt. 3  the long awaited update
Disclaimer
I do appreciate your messages and feedback and I am helluva proud that I can inspire you! ♥
However, I am not a certified gardener, nor do I have years of experience tending to whatnots.
I have a village homestead childhood in my background, but now, 20 years later, I live in a completely different climate, in an urban flat, just with quite fortunately situated windows, and I enjoy trying to grow what I can. Success and failure are a part of the process and they are the reason I am keeping this diary as well as a second written one - because I make mistakes (some of them are a part of this particular update), I also happen upon misfortune, like bringing home soil with fungus gnat eggs. And if at first I don’t succeed, I try again.
That’s the reason I try to grow most of my stuff from seed. It is harder. It takes a lot. But it teaches that much more and you can figure out your mistakes and avoid them that much easier next time. It also teaches me patience, structure, keeps me at a schedule and a cycle.
I encourage you, if you are like me, to be inspired, get into growing something, something that makes you happy, excited - just thinking about having it in your home or around - and be prepared to stand at your window, or at your garden everyday, checking for new growth, or problems and addressing them as you get to them.
I don’t believe in easy*, or plants for “beginners” - like me, you can kill an immortal melissa and can keep alive something that should be impossible, just because the difference between them, for you, is - I want one more, than the other.
*Easy and “Easy” are two different things, and taking the easy road as a rule will bring you, in the better case nowhere, in the worse one to proverbial hell - and for some of us, the two collide.
*****
And now:
It is time to tally who survived, who did not and who came newly along:)
Unfortunately I have been struck with lack of sun and friggin gnats, so my beautiful Venusian garden had become a love nest in more ways than one.. Older plants have handled it well, but some of the new ones have fallen or suffered at least to a degree.
Lack of sunlight has been solved by “grow” lights with a 12 hour timer as of mid-Dec (aka 4000 lms of LED lamps with 4000-4500 kelvins using in total no more than 50W for tops 50 eur, including timer, lamps and bulbs - because I am not growing anything to sell and I am not really looking for “yield”, if you get my meaning). I am absolutely not saying that this is a set-up you should use, but based on my location, research and the education of my partner, it should be sufficient for growing houseplants during winter here. From now on, the feedback on the lighting setup will be a part of the updates, when relevant.
Gnats have been almost defeated by yellow sticky traps to kill the mature ones + special fertilizer and Steinernema feltiae, who parasite on fungus gnat larvae. How Martial.
So here it goes (Pt.2 in normal, updates to date in italic, ✝ means RIP):
The main troupe:
Belladonna (Atropa belladonna) - in stratification for 10h+24h
I have 4 plants growing to date, allare around 4 cm in height. Unfortunately I did not note the germination date, however she has been growing perhaps since Sept.
Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) - I have a whole planter of nearly mature plants, no flowering to date though.
✝  Monkshood (Aconitum napellus) - in stratification for 6w, to be planted 10th Aug.
Was planted as planned but nothing to date :( Still have not thrown anything away though.
✝  White sage (Salvia apiana) - planted
I actually got one plant to grow to 15 cm tall, but it perished 3 weeks ago. I am not sure if it was overwatering or gnats or a combo. It was weak and leggy the whole time though, so lack of full sun can be a factor. Will try again in spring with grow lights.
✝  Sandalwood (Santalum album)  - planted, still waiting for a sign of life.
I am giving up.
✝  + Mimosa pudica as host - planted and germinated, the single real leaf already reacts to stimuli
Tortured to death by my touchy partner. Did you know that you can kill carnivorous plants like venus traps, by stimulating their leaves without leaving sustenance on them? Something similar happened here.........
Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) - planted, looking good.
First mature leaves are growing (the immature ones seem to be more compact, and not as defined like below). It is leggy, due to former lack of sunlight and also battling the gnats.
Tumblr media
Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) - planted, also doing quite well.
He has the biggest planter, but again smaller than expected, even though he has has mature leaves for some time.Pic is new growth taken tonight.
Tumblr media
Datura metel  - planted sometime in summer (like???)
Germinated 24.7. Two plants are still going (love the pink stems, but will probably plant again in the spring, to not mess with her cycle)
Datura innoxia - planted Apr2019, already growing seed pods!
I think I updated on her a while ago. Saved seeds, will guerilla plant her in the communal greens across the house in the spring too.
Tobacco (Nicotiana tobaccum) - planted, looks fluffy. Germinated 24.7.
Still fluffy cca 20 cm in height, though the leaves are also as long + wide. I’d say thhey are as wide as they are tall, but that would seem rude. The leaves are round though, so I think they are still immature. Seeing as it is an annual, I think I may have to start again in spring.
Mastix (Pistacia lentiscus) - I previously posted that it is planted, however, it is in the fridge until 27th August, so that was a mistake.
Planted a “bit later” in November, based on different source. Still waiting.
✝  Angelica (archangelica) - in stratification for 30d, to be planted 10.8.2019
Nothing :( will use the rest of the seeds for guerilla seeding across the street. I even planted non stratified seeds at the same time to no result.
The UwU factor:
✝  Catnip (Nepeta faassenii) - planted, growing well:)
Gnats and cats got it.
✝  Chamomile (Marticaria recutita) - planted, was one of the first ones to germinate, half of it seemed to be dying for a while, but now it’s all good.
R.I.P. roots served as sustenance for more gnats.
✝  Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) - planted, growing like the weed it is.
Grew in the same long balcony planter as catnip. So RIP.
I do have a second batch growing now though, because I want melissa water to drink.
Angel’s Trumpet (Brugmansia arborea) + Angel’s Trumpet (Brugmansia suaveolens)
I stratified both in warm water for 24 hours and planted them on the 19th Dec, so we will see.
Pink Pepper (Schinus molle) - was planted around the 20th Jul, 2 of them are already at the 2 leaf stage.
Both still live at around 20-25 cm height, already growing mature leaves ♥
✝  Ylang (Cananga odorata), still waiting.
And still am, is there any hope left?
NEWCOMERS!!!
Lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera) - When I read, they can be grown in containers, I could not stop myself.
I filed (yes, like actually filed their tops off) 8 seeds (4 of normal and 4 of red variety) and soaked in water on the 20th Dec and there is germination already. I have a huge special (gold color) bowl ready for them when the first full leaf formes.
Tumblr media
Juniper (Juniperus communis) - I bought a 2 year old juniper in November, because finding wild juniper in my immediate area is a problem.
Tumblr media
Saffron (Crocus sativa) - in autumn I sew bulbs of saffron for a total investment of maybe 20EUR including pots and soil, and saw them leaf and flower and I also harvested enough saffron (the three threads from each bloom) to cover my cost (if I wanted to buy that much in a shop, not for resale, dude). There are still leaves on them and I have prepped them for overwintering yesterday. So I am expecting a bountiful harvest next year.
Tumblr media
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) - I bought it mature from a farmers market (Oct), but I am also now trying to grow it from seed just to see that happens (Dec).
Aside from these, there is also:
Artemisia abrotanum var. maritima aka Coca cola
Jasminum grandiflorum (I have had her for more than a year now, so I am hoping for flowers in the next couple of months)
Laurus nobilis,  because I cook, dammit (and growing it for magical purposes I use seems... slow)
Paeonia lactiflora, a bulb in a huge planter outside just waiting for spring
Colchicum cilicium and Colchicum autumnale just because (both already bloomed for me and both are overwintering now).
Tumblr media
I have seeds prepped for spring to try:
Datura Stramonium, Bambusa arundinacea, Nymphaea caerulea

8 ways to improve your garden’s drainage
What’s the best way to improve your garden’s drainage? During the rainy months, frustrated gardeners have seen their back gardens turn to swamps, which has a long term knock-on effect because good drainage is essential for growing many garden plants and keeping healthy grass.
With the unpredictable British weather – and the rain that comes with it – many gardens in the UK suffer from poor drainage, and these waterlogged conditions are far from ideal when trying to maintain a lush, green lawn once spring comes. Here are some ways to improve your garden’s drainage.
You're reading: 8 ways to improve your garden’s drainage
1. Pricking, slitting or spiking
‘Pricking or slitting the lawn surface with shallow, 2-3cm holes can help garden drainage, but deeper spiking is even better, especially with a tool designed to leave deep holes,’ explain the team at Garden Buildings Direct. ‘These holes can be filled with a free-draining material, such as proprietary lawn top dressing or horticultural sand, to allow the water to flow from the surface to deeper, less compacted layers.’
2. Grow more plants
One of the best, and easiest, ways to improve drainage in your garden is to simply grow more plants. It’s also a relatively inexpensive solution, and in the long run, will make your garden look nicer too. ‘Plant choice is important though, as you’ll want to choose something that can survive wet conditions – unfortunately, many plants dislike too much water and cannot tolerate waterlogged conditions,’ warn Garden Buildings Direct.
3. Build raised beds
Building raised plant beds means you can fill them with good quality, free-draining topsoil that gets your plants out of the boggy earth below. These can be constructed out of timber railway sleepers or brickwork.

4. Improve soil drainage
If drainage issues aren’t too severe, improving the permeability of the soil in your beds may alleviate the problem. ‘To do this, you’ll need to dig in lots of organic matter, as soil with a high organic matter content allows excess water to drain through, while absorbing essential moisture. Creating your own compost and using this to improve the soil is a cheap but effective way of doing this,’ say Garden Buildings Direct. ‘On the other hand, if your soil is sticky and clay-like, it’s advisable to add coarse grit sand to aid drainage.’

5. Manage surface water
Managing surface water run-off effectively and efficiently is a great way to improve drainage. All you need to do is incorporate sloping surfaces within your garden so that the excess water is directed to an area where it can be disposed of – for example, a surface drain or plant bed containing moisture-loving plants. Please note, this could be costly as you’d need to hire a mini excavator to sculpt the contours of your garden. Do seek professional advice in any instance.
6. Use bark chippings
Did you know that bark chippings are great for absorbing moisture, and thereby improving drainage? These chippings are not only great at retaining moisture but they also prevent weed growth, help insulate the beds during cold snaps, and improve the aesthetic of practically any bed they’re added to.

7. Install artificial grass
‘Artificial grass is capable of handling large amounts of rainfall, but the key to a successful, drainage-improving artificial lawn is to ensure that a permeable sub-base is installed beneath the turf,’ explain Garden Buildings Direct.

8. Install land drains
This option is generally only recommended if your lawn is particularly bad – installing land drains involves digging a trench in your lawn, fixing a perforated land drain, and then re-covering, so it’s a big job. ‘Water will then drain through your lawn and into the perforated land drain pipe, which will channel it away from that area to whatever other part of the garden you choose,’ say Garden Buildings Direct. ‘Local by-laws usually prohibit you from channelling the water into public storm drains or sewer systems, so finding a suitable area to direct the water can be an issue.’

Global Peony Market 2019 | Manufacturers In-Depth Analysis Report to 2024
The latest trending report Global Peony Market 2019-2024 added by DecisionDatabases.com
Peony is a flowering plant in the genus Paeonia, the only genus in the family Paeoniaceae. Peony varieties with huge, double flowers will be the focal point of the garden when they bloom in early summer. Single-flowered types are more subtle and combine well with other perennials. Flower colors include pink, red, white, and yellow, and the plants grow 18 inches to 3 feet tall, depending on the variety. Peonies make an attractive low hedge. However, they can take up to 3 years to mature, and don't perform well in hot summer climates.
The worldwide market for Peony is expected to grow at a CAGR of roughly 3.5% over the next five years, will reach 540 million US$ in 2024, from 440 million US$ in 2019. This report focuses on the Peony in global market, especially in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, South America, Middle East and Africa. This report categorizes the market based on manufacturers, regions, type and application.

Peony Classification-I
When peonies are offered for sale, they are sometimes classified by their botanical type. The categories most often seen in nursery catalogues are: (a) species, (b) herbaceous, (c) tree peony, and (d) intersectional. The following tries to clear up what these terms generally mean.
 Species
There are somewhere between 35 and 50 different species of peony (i.e. plants belonging to the genus Paeonia). However, most of these botanical species grow wild in Asia, southern Europe, or western North America. Very few of them are culivated and sold commercially. The few that are available are usually not as large and showy as the peonies we see growing in neighbourhood gardens.
When the term "species peony" is used by a nursery or commercial grower, it basically means: "wild peony which we've 'captured' and made available to you non-explorers because you want something rare and different". While they are rare, and different from most garden peonies, they are also not as spectacular bloomers.
The ones most often available commercially are: Paeonia anomala subsp. veitchii (formerly known as Paeonia veitchii), Paeonia daurica subsp. mlokosewitschii (formerly known as Paeonia mlokosewitschii, Paeonia officinalis, Paeonia officinalis mollis (formerly known as Paeonia mollis), Paeonia peregrina, and Paeonia tenuifolia. They are described in more detail in my section on Species Peonies.
 Herbaceous peony
The species of peony which is probably most important commercially is the Paeonia lactiflora. This species is native to central and eastern Asia. In particular, it occurs in northern China, and has been cultivated there for perhaps 1,600 years.
There are at least 3,000 registered cultivars (i.e. cultivated varieties) of Paeonia lactiflora (and probably even more which have never been registered or marketed). Most of the peonies sold commercially are either culivars of Paeonia lactiflora, or else hybrids, with some of its genes.
 Tree Peony
Tree peonies (Paeonia rockii) have woody stems that lose their leaves in the fall, but the woody stems stay intact.  They tend to bloom earlier and with larger flowers than the herbaceous peony. Despite this, they are generally not as popular as herbaceous peonies, because they are such slow growers. They have been of most commercial interest recently as a source of hybrids, which are called "Intersectional peonies".
 Intersectional Peony
Intersectional Peonies are hybrids; they are derived from a cross between a white Herbaceous Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Kakoden') and a yellow hybrid Tree Peony (Paeonia x lemoinei) carried out in 1948 by Mr. Toichi Itoh. For this reason, they are also known as Itoh hybrids or Itoh peonies.
Intersectionals are valued because they are available in colours that traditional peonies can't produce — in particular, more intense shades of yellow, peach, and coral.  These plants have the lovely leaf form of the tree peonies, but die to the ground in the winter like herbaceous peonies. The plants are strong and healthy with a nice rounded bush form, but are generally shorter than most bush peonies.  Since they are recent introductions and are still in short supply, they are usually quite expensive.
Examples of some intersectional peony varieties are: Bartzella, Border Charm, Cora Louise, First Arrival, Garden Treasure, Hillary, Julia Rose, Sequestered Sunshine.
