My grade: 8,5/10

My favorite things about this movie:

the INCREDIBLE acting, especially by aelm bhumibhat who's slowly becoming one of the best & most powerful thai actors in my eyes. ud awat & pae arak also ate this up bruh.

the directing & cinematography are so so so good, they remind me of p'nuchie anucha & apichatpong weerasethakul and I mean that in the best way.

this story is so impactful & I know I will remember it for years to come. this movie didn't go AT ALL where I thought it would at first, and I'm grateful because the last 30 minutes made it become a favorite for me.

super niche but this whole cast is crazy & I simply adore who they got to sign on this movie, like... pae arak??? that's insane, like literally insane. ud awat showed his whole ass twice & frankly? slay. the cast is too fucking good but that's just a me point bc you probably don't know them lol.

Theory of Love Romcom Rewatch Episode 9: The Last Moment (2008)

Once again I am watching Theory of Love because @lurkingshan gets specific pleasure out of making me change my mind about this show. This week we’re continuing with The Last Moment (2009), a Thai romantic drama that I can only assume is part of this series because it’s distributed by GMM. As usual, I had not actually seen this one before, and unfortunately may hate it the most out of all the films we’ve watched. @lurkingshan commented on how much she hated this film and how little it has to do with this week’s episode.

The Last Moment (2008)

The Last Moment (2008) tells the story of the dubious love triangle between Fah (Peak Pattarasaya Kreursuwansiri), Phayu (Pae Arak Amornsupasiri), and Naam (Koy Rachwin Wongviriya). Fah is dating a douchebag, Phayu is secretly yearning for Fah, and Naam is yearning for Phayu. Fah is sick with a nonspecific terminal drama illness, agrees to date Phayu before the end, but then breaks up with him when she learns that Naam has been burning a flame for Phayu. Naam, meanwhile, dates a man who eventually violently sexually assaults her, which also results in an unwanted pregnancy. Phayu agrees to marry Naam for appearances so she can keep the baby. Fah dies and says Phayu can only be with Naam. Naam moves to England, and returns to Thailand years later.

Honestly, this film was too much, and is yet another entry into something I’d like to explore about internal vs. external drama in Thai narratives. This film obviously sets up the drama for a love triangle, and yet almost all of the drama is inflicted on these characters from forces beyond their control (illness, rape, etc.), except for Phayu’s insistence on peeing on people or drinking piss (this is a literal thing in the film). This was such a dour film obsessed with primarily how Phayu felt at any given moment, and not one about how a trio of friends navigate the awkwardness of their misaligned feelings. 

I found it quite dull to deal with the constant stream of external factors in what I expected to be a very internal film. The main reason why I liked Gelboys was because all of the drama came from those boys tormenting each other with how they responded to each other’s feelings. In any case, I loathed the experience of watching this film and do not recommend anyone else watch it.

Theory of Love Episode 9

Khai has completely made the turn at this point, and now finds himself in similar position to where we initially found Third: yearning for Third while trying to be a decent friend who shouldn’t act on any jealousy he feels about other people being interested in Third. Khai is recovering from his bike crash, and failing to care for himself properly. Eventually, Third steps in to help Khai with his physical limitations in what is totally not a setup for an adult scene scenario. Third, as usual, is avoiding anything Khai says about apologies.

I really enjoyed Khai having nightmares about his situation with Third, and was actually looking forward to his blowup at the party. I think it’s fun storytelling to have Khai be an awkward dork now that he really cares about someone romantically. Moreover, Shane needs to pick less gossipy games for his party! I was so relieved when we finally got to the blowup. I’m excited to see Third and Khai face each other again.

There were some other things going on with the sides, but I’ve basically stopped trying to remember because I don’t care. I remain frustrated with Un as a character. His relationship with Two remains relevant only because the show will want the audience to jettison attachment to Un and Third as a potential couple. As such, his characterization remains bland and inconsistent for me, and I generally found this show to be a waste of Earth. There really could have been something more in this story about Third finding connection with someone who also knew he was queer, and was maybe more out than Third, but alas.

This is the first lakorn of the Series with Push & Mook, This was her 2nd role as main lead, from her rookie days. 

Junita / Junior (Mook) is a girl who had face filler, after being called fat face, her skin had allergic reactions and her face gets covered with acne,

All her friends, her boyfriend stops talking to her, she decides to go to university in another town., out of Bangkok, there's also a dermatologist in that town recommended by the Ugly Duckling forum.

On her very first day, she gets bullied and Suea comes to her rescue. 

Junior made good friendship with Suea and his girlfriend Ning. 

Ning is a rich girl while Suea is a poor boy referred as a temple boy their relationship starts to go difficult times, they eventually break up.. 

Junior was always there for Suea, so he eventually develops feelings for Junior.

But Junior have self esteem issues, so she avoids letting her guard down.

She was hoping for a guy who'd love her as who she is not for her outlook or for her wealth..  

After her face started to heal there were others who were trying to court her..

Suea loves Junior but he is overly jealous and doesn't say nice things to Suea.

But we have a plot twist, which you will find at the end of the lakorn.

The next one is

This one is quite funny. as it's a spoof of Thai Lakorns, slap kiss genre, with that means this lakorn have the properties of traditional slap kiss lakorns, hidden family secrets, secret love child, etc etc 

The main cast is Sunny & Pattie...

Chawee is the only grandson of the rich family, grandma wants Chawee (Sunny) &  Araya (Pattie) to get engaged and she announces this., however Chawee & Araya can not get on well since they were kids, they always had bickered...

We have Pailin who diguses herself as man and enters to Amaraporn Estate as a gardener to solve her birth secret. 

Chonlee's mother dislikes Araya and behaves her badly, Chonlee behaves Araya bad when her mother is around, actually Araya & Chonlee gets on well, and they help each other out..

Doctor in love with Araya, Araya loves Chaweee,  Doctor later on falls in love with Pallin but he starts to think he's gay because he thinks she's a he.

Chonlee falls in love with Palin thinking that she's a he.  :)))  it's quite funny. 

It's quite funny.   I recommend it but only if you do not have anything to watch

so next one is a Jap Drama

This drama has a lot of Itazura Na Kiss vibes.   If you're feminist or into feminism, please don't bother watching. Sakura fell in love with Dr. Tendo when he helped an elderly She studied and became a nurse. DR. Tendo Kairi, he's a genius doctor, handsome, clever, sharp, where as Warrior aka Chick, Nurse Sakura Nanase is quite the opposite.  She's clumsy, a bit naive, a bit stupid, nowhere as clever as Tendo..  So Tendo eventually falls in love Sakura. She doesn't follow Tendo like a tail as Kokoto did to Naoki and not as silly / naive as Kokoto.. She gets her own happy ending at the finale.

So let's roll to the next one Unmei Kara Hajumaru Koi / You are my Destiny

Unmei Kara Hajumaru Koi / You are my Destiny This is the Japanese version of You're my Destiny  The Plot is the same, only it's the Fast Forward Version  However you have to watch till the end, there is a surprise waiting at the end.. (good or bad not dropping any hints for those who haven't watched it yet)

Deja Vu  Ruk Yon Welah This is the remake of Taiwanese version.   I do like chemistry in between the leads.   For a change Pong is a good boy here..   Jane (Esther) is a strong woman not crying or complaining all the time. This drama is still on going we got the last 4 episodes left.  

In Time With You

In Time With You

The same old plot, with extra irritating girl friend of Pon (Pae) called Miki, the girl who forced herself into being his girl, and have a checklist for her future husband to be.  Pon ticks most of the boxes.   Pae & Mo have a meh chemistry..   It's definitely better than Taiwanese version,  Ariel Lin was a bit irritating on this drama,  but I have watched it just for Jasper & Chen Bolin..   This drama is still on going we got 4 more episodes to go...  If you are interested there's Jap version as well which I couldn't even finish it yet..    So far the remakes   Korean The Time we weren't in love   Taiwanese Sequel Discover Love   Chinese The evolution of Our Love   Japanese I don't love you yet..

I think the greatest bane of my existence as a thai drama fan who doesn't just watch bl (especially not just the one watched by most inter fans) is watching a show or movie with THE MOST INSANE CAST doing THE MOST INSANE SHIT & not being able to freak out about how cool these random famous thai actors being there doing that is, like... y'all don't get how insane it is to see pae arak go queer for an unhinged villain role alongside the lead singer of the tpop band mints who plays a burmese sex worker bc you guys literally don't know who these people are. same thing for chin chinawut in the outing having sex scenes when he's a random pop singer (who happens to have made one of my fave tpop songs of all time but that's besides the point lol), like... I have niched too close to the sun. knowing every thai actor on this earth has damned me to an eternity of lonely freakouts lmao
