I wanna talk about my pet project fnaf au for a bit here we go
Finally decided on a rename!! You maay notice I went back and edited all my tagged posts for this au. Formerly prologue: the plan, now Pacesetter Posse. I had to rename it because I rewrote it for the third time and it’s no longer a prologue for another related thing, it’s all one entity. Also, the former name was just a song title that I associated with the project, and not really indicative of the content. Pacesetter Posse refers to the main cast, a tight-knit bunch with a surprising amount of power in their environment. That, and it’s a nod to game that inspired the whole project in the first place: Fury’s Rage. It’s the title of an in-universe fighting game that’s simplistic and doesn’t really make a lot of sense at face value, but it makes sense in the context of the game itself.
A big part of why I’m posting PSP and not making it to enjoy in private is mostly because… I can’t easily find sb au fics that aren’t Xreaders or OC centric… nothing against those stories, a few of my favorite fnaf fics and projects are reader and/or OC stories, but it’s usually not my cup of tea and I’m sure someone out there agrees. And also I’m dying to share this au without simply talking about what happens in it.
The tradeoff of not having an OC-or-similar character in the story is me having to take some liberties with existing characters. For example, PSP explores the idea of Eclipse being a part of the main cast consisting of the Glamrocks and Sun+Moon. That means I have to take the five seconds of canon screen time he got and turn that into a character arc and dynamics with other characters. Eclipse is the closest thing in PSP to an OC, but I tried to focus on reverse-engineering him rather than filling in the blanks with whatever I wanted. One of my favorite fics does this with DJMM but I cannot remember what the full title of it is for the life of me! Think of it like a “what if (minor supporting character) had more relevance to the plot and fellow cast in their given context.” That’s one of my favorite fanfic tropes ever.
I think the most important thing about PSP to know is that the story itself IS the story of an in-universe fighting game, and the portrayals of canon characters are moreso based off of what Fazbear Entertainment had in mind for them as licensed characters rather than the animatronics we’re familiar with. The Sun I portray in PSP is the one in the posters and ads, not necessarily the animatronic one. There are definitely nods to the animatronics though, I wouldn’t get much nuance without that. (Yes, Eclipse also falls under this idea. It’s pretty clear in his design.)
