Steve really wished Eddie would stop disappearing into dark corners of the cave, so he could at least enjoy looking at that skin-tight-PVC-clad butt. ā€œLook, man, I think youā€™ve got a problem with the hoarding. Weā€™ve all been a little tense since we, uh, saved the world, andā€”ā€
ā€œIā€™m not tense. You need to relax, Honey. Youā€™re gonna love it here, as much as I do.ā€
ā€œWhatever.ā€ Steve was relieved that Eddie was finally throwing attention onto him, stalking over. ā€œCan we make out already?ā€
ā€œSure thing.ā€ Eddie slid a hand to the small of Steveā€™s back. Steve looped his arms around Eddie, and their mouths clashed in a kiss.
Soon, Steve twisted his fists in Eddieā€™s hair, mashing them ever closer. Meanwhile, Eddie shoved his hand down the back of Steveā€™s pants, grabbed the meat of his ass, and squeezed till the flesh sang.
Yeah, Steve was loving it. He worked the kiss till his jaw ached. Christ, Eddie made him feelā€¦ Okay, totally turned on, but also softer somehow, more relaxed, even as other parts of him grew rock-hard. And that feeling, which rushed upon him, was as weird and alien as this crazy place. Eddie was right. Steve had been wired and edgy for so damn longā€¦
ā€¦and then Steve stopped thinking, because the kiss was mind-blowing. Eddie backed him up against the bars that stretched across the entire width of the cave. He thrust a knee up between Steveā€™s leg, scrubbing roughly.
Jesusā€¦ Yesā€¦ Thereā€¦ Oh God!Ā 
Steve was totally losing it. He scarcely noticed that a door in the bars had swung open, and that Eddie backed him through. When they finally broke apart, Steve was breathless, dizzy. He tasted copper, realized his lip bled. He still couldnā€™t rip his eyes from Eddie, who licked a smudge of Steveā€™s blood from his own mouth.
That should not be this hot.
ā€œDidnā€™t mean to hurt you, Babe,ā€ said Eddie. ā€œYou okay there?ā€
ā€œNever better.ā€ Steve shrugged. Meanwhile, Eddie unwound his arms from Steve, took a step back. Cool as ice, he shut the barred door between them, and snapped a padlock closed.Ā

The reality of the situation splashed into Steve, like a bucket of water waking him from a freakyā€”okay, also smokinā€™ hotā€”dream. He shoved his fist through the bars, grabbed the front of Eddieā€™s t-shirt: ā€œWhat the hell you playing at, Munson?ā€
ā€œJust wanted to see how you look. In my lilā€™ den. With the rest of my pretty stash.ā€
ā€œOpen the goddamn door.ā€ Steveā€™s voice sounded strange, small. ā€œThis real t-twisted shit.ā€ Why was he stammering? He gritted his teeth. ā€œIā€™ll punch you so hard! This is beyond a joke, man.ā€
Eddie reached through the bars, grazed his knuckles down the shallow stubble on Steveā€™s cheek. ā€œShhhhhssssss.ā€
The sound trailed off into a hiss, and Steve wasā€¦ Shit, he didnā€™t want to fight. Heā€™d still gotten a hold of Eddieā€™s t-shirt and his fist trembled.
ā€œYouā€™re safe here,ā€ murmured Eddie. ā€œYouā€™ll be safe here at last. I promise you, Steve. I promise.ā€
Steveā€™s grip on Eddie loosened and his arm fell away. He should be punching Eddie, grabbing the key, running from this place like heā€™d got a demogorgon was on his tail.Ā 
He wasnā€™t.

In the 1970s, polybutylene plumbing pipes were being touted as the future of plumbing because they were light and durable plus worked well with existing metal pipes and some plastics. They were sold under names such as Qest [pronounced and sometimes spelled ā€œquestā€] and QickTite.

Thing is, polybutylene plastic reacts to minerals and chemicals in the water, causing them to eventually lose their integrity. The manufacturers had several class action lawsuits filed against them in the 1980s and 1990s over the hundreds of millions of dollars failing pipes had cost consumers, and in 1995 they were banned in American building codes. (You can still get them, apparently, but youā€™re barred from new home construction with them.)
The place where I work, which has been around since the 1940s, has a box of 30-year-old odds and ends in case anyone comes in looking for any -- and about twice a year, indeed, someone asks if we have a replacement piece.

How to Create Attractive and Useful Childcare Outdoor Areas
Providing opportunities for children to interact with nature can help them develop curiosity and ask questions about the natural world around them.
One family child care teacher set up a table and chairs outside with a collection of pots, pans, and utensils for kids to use during pretend play. She also created a music area with homemade and found instruments like drums and a PVC pipe xylophone.
Age-Appropriate Play Equipment
Play is an important part of childhood for physical, emotional and social development. Children of different ages have dramatically different needs when it comes to developmental activities, so itā€™s important that outdoor play areas have separate equipment for each age group.
Equipment for infants and toddlers should be low to the ground with soft surfaces that reduce hazards like sharp corners. Mobile infants need places to crawl, sit-up and pull themselves up to stand while supervised by caregivers.

Equipment for preschool-age kids should encourage active and cooperative play while fostering cognitive skills through problem-solving activities. Larger, more complex playground equipment is also ideal for this age range, including merry-go-rounds and sports areas.
Paths or Trails
Creating pathways or trails within yourĀ childcare outdoor areasĀ adds interest, and encourages movement. Consider adding stepping stones, logs and gravel to create an interesting surface for little feet. Intersperse interest areas that support childrenā€™s creative expression (art, music, problem-solving opportunities or building challenges) along the path to provide children with a wide range of activities to stimulate their brains and foster their creativity.
Make sure the paths or trails are safe for all ages and abilities. For example, the youngest children in your care, infants and toddlers, may not have the cognitive ability to predict consequences or motor skills to play safely without significant support from adults. To help support supervision, include natural barriers to separate children from hazardous areas such as ponds and high-traffic areas.
Sensory Gardens
A sensory garden provides children with an immersive experience that stimulates every sense. These gardens are particularly useful for kids with special needs, as they offer a safe, regulated environment for them to learn how to respond to stimuli while still promoting physical movement and cognitive growth.
Incorporate elements that will appeal to childrenā€™s visual senses, like contrasting textures, colors and plants. Also, consider herbs that have different scents that can be explored by rubbing leaves between fingers to release their fragrant oils.
Designate a sandbox or dirt digging spot within your sensory garden, along with pathways and defined areas with different types of surfaces. Be sure to choose non-toxic, kid-safe plants and avoid spiky or thorny items that could harm children. Regular inspections of these features will help to keep them in great condition for the kids to play with and enjoy.
Soft Landing Surfaces
Keeping a childcare outdoor area covered with soft, natural surfaces can give it an attractive and inviting look. These surfaces absorb impact, allow children to move around easily, and can provide a soft landing in the event of a fall. Wood chippings and shredded rubber make great playground surfaces, as they are inexpensive, easy to install, and come in a variety of colours that can complement the look of your space. They are also safe for infants and toddlers to use, though it is important that they be free of choking hazards such as small stones or sticks.
