CADET ATTACHMENT PROGRAM
DAY 3 | January 16, 2023 | 8:00AM - 5:00PM
MONDAY FLAG RAISING CEREMONY
This morning, I was instructed to report and render courtesy call to PCOL ROBERT R BAESA, COP, TCPS as well as to attend the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony at the Taguig City Hall as I was reassigned to Taguig City Police Station beside the City Hall. The City Government of Taguig was this time celebrating the 27th National Autism Consciousness Week with the themes "1Pangako: A Call for Kindness" and "Building a Nation Powered by Transformative Autism-Inclusive Innovation" together with the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) and other government agencies including the PNP, BJMP and BFP.
National Autism Consciousness Week is held every third week of January. It is a time to raise awareness through sharing vital information about this lifelong neurological disorder and to bolster the government's commitment for the inclusion of people with autism. This annual celebration is conducted as a response to the increasing statistics of Filipinos diagnosed with this condition and has been supported by the Proclamation No. 711 signed on Jan. 4, 1996, by then President Fidel Ramos.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability characterized by social and communication deficits that impede optimal functioning. The cause of this condition has remained unknown yet has been linked to genetics. Some autistic people have difficulty in making eye contact, understanding or using spoken language and expressing emotions or feelings which sometimes lead to self-harming behavior, tantrums and aggression. These characteristics of autism may be detected in early childhood, but autism is often not diagnosed until much later. [1]
Some of the main signs of autism are anxiety, especially in social situations, the inability to make friends and difficulty in understanding what others think or feel. While an independent life is possible for those in the spectrum, not all are able to achieve the same level of independence. Since ASD is a developmental disability, it must be noted that ASD begins before the age of 3 and can last throughout a person’s life, with symptoms improving over time. [2]
During the said activity, Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) head Larry Supas shared the importance of supporting the persons with disabilities particularly those with autism. According to him, people with Autism have daily challenges that not everyone can understand and that we have to support them in every way. The local government and the PDAO continue to intensify and expand advocacy against abuse and discrimination.
On the other side, Mayor Lani Cayetano encouraged everyone to join her in reciting the 1Pangako Pledge. This pledge aims not to use the word "autistic" as a joke but rather to promote the acceptance and care of people with disabilities.
As a cadet, I became more aware to people with Autism and what it means to live with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) specially the unique challenges that they may face, such as difficulty in communication, social interactions, and understanding the environment.
It is important for us, cadets, to have a good understanding of autism and its impact on individuals and families. This understanding can help us, cadets, to provide appropriate support and assistance to individuals with autism, and to interact with them in a respectful and sensitive manner.

AREN'T WE TOO DUMB TO WAIT FOR UNCERTAINTIES?
Sometimes I'm afraid, sometimes excited, mostly I feel lonely, but then at the same time I'm proud for him, but can't deny sometimes I doubt him, be mad at him, and miss him so bad.
Imagine a year without any communication ☹️
I just want to say we're the strongest gf's they could ever have. We may cry in silence, fight in silence, pain in silence but we know that those things will be worth it when the waiting is over.

Harnessing Prowess on the Warmest
-CDT SUMALINOG, MAY LORD F
Earliest sunrise and latest sunset, longest days and shortest nights, that is how summer is featured for the rest of the world, while as a cadet of a premier leadership institution, the warmest season is for rigid trainings, developmental seminars and proficiency courses to hone cadets to match the officer ship’s quality standards.
New Cadet Detail Seminar (NCDS) will teach the ALAB-KALIS Class of 2022 of views and applications of diverse leadership approaches, gauging and redefining them to upgrade the leader-subordinate bond within the corps. It might as well help them amend the archaic methods and outdated customs of running the cadet corps. Additionally, the vital end of the course is to serve as an induction for the partakers on supervising the unaccustomed cadets of PNPA Class of 2025.
Whilst a part of the ruling class is role-playing the New Cadets and indoctrinating regimented way of living, the other half is enduring destitutions, physical and mental strain for discipline in acquiring the latest tactics, techniques and procedures in structural clearance used by elite special operations forces in their Close Quarter Battle (CQB) training.
An additional duty is what comes with progressing to the subsequent level as second class cadets that requires edification. Accomplishing the Squad Leaders’ Orientation Course (SLOC) for MASIDTALAK Class of 2023 proposes them steering principles on the control of two inferior classes.
Actual maneuvers and tacks in combatting felons and fostering public welfare similar to military operations is what the incoming second class cadets will correspondingly undertake, being it one of the highpoints of the Academy’s summer training, the Basic Internal Security Operation Course (BISOC).
Public Safety Intervention Course (PSIC) involving Civil Disturbance Management (CDM), Police Operational Procedures (POP) which offers circumstances to be possibly encountered by the cadets that will develop their skills, abilities and decision-making. Fundamental disarming of pistol, arresting techniques and the conduct of hot pursuit fulfills the activities of the course. LAYAG-DIWA Class of 2024 likewise will gain knowledge concerning ethics of police service through the mandatory annual carrying out of the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program or the ICITAP course.
For the fourth class cadets to be the incoming exemplar of the corps, they took the Role Model Cadet Seminar, before receiving the incoming Class of 2025. Furthermore, an assortment of approaches to be employed in integrating potentials of a leader was imparted in the curriculum.
"Steel-clad with intelligence, skills and driven with burning heart, a PNPA cadet primes himself to wrangle war opposing injustice, mediocrity, degeneracy, and aggression. These trainings, seminars, and courses refines us to be a triumphant leader and resilient defenders of justice, peace, and democracy."

CADET ATTACHMENT PROGRAM
DAY 2 | January 15, 2023
“Courtesies of a small and trivial character are the ones which strike deepest in the grateful and appreciating heart.” ― Henry Clay
As part of our Cadet Customs and Decorum, cadets are expected to be familiar with the etiquette of rendering a courtesy call. It is best to remember that necessary calls should always be made if time and circumstances permit to show respect and to establish working relationships. [1]
Courtesy calls are made to pay respect to higher-ranking officials or to develop official and social contacts with public officials, individuals, and social groupings. Additionally, it is also a way to keep the tradition and culture of the Academy.
Today, I, together with my classmates who are deployed within the Southern area of Metro Manila, reported at Southern Police District to render courtesy call to PBGEN KIRBY JOHN BRION KRAFT, District Director, SPD.
PBGEN KIRBY JOHN BRION KRAFT is from Calauan, Laguna and a proud member of PNPA Sandigan Class of 1994. He joined the Special Action Force after he graduated from the Academy and later on was designated to different positions throughout the country, receiving various medals and awards for his hard work in police service. He was formally appointed as the District Director of the Southern Police District on August 8, 2022.
During the call, we were given a chance to have a short talk with him. He shared some of his life experiences during his cadetship and when he was already in service, his achievements and challenges he had overcome. We were also given guidance and few reminders in regards to what we will be expecting during the whole duration of our Cadet Attachment Program to our respective police stations.
PBGEN KIRBY JOHN BRION KRAFT is truly a remarkable officer who embodies the core values of integrity, professionalism, courage, and dedication.

A Capricorn’s Tale
"Never study to be successful, study for self-efficiency. Don't run behind success. Follow behind excellence, success will come all the way behind you." - Rajkumar Hirani & Abhijat Joshi, 3 Idiots
Six-year journey but there’s only a sentence which can summarize my entire high school experience – It was worth the fight. In my final year, I remember spending the summer at public libraries, at the review center where I was admitted as a full scholar, at home, at my friend’s house or at any place that allowed me to review peacefully, for one ultimate goal – to pass all my Scholarships and College Entrance Tests. I was not born with a silver spoon so I always searched for ways to help my parents carry the financial burden of my education. I was poor so I have no choice but to work hard. While most of my schoolmates were busy playing games, going to other places to relax, for vacation, I was busy making my future. In the end, the universe favors the bold and I was able to pass every test that I took with flying colors.

How did I make it?!
Allow me to share 15 things I've learned in high school that helped me achieve my goals:
1. Listen to your teachers. We have one mouth and two ears, which means that we have to listen first before we can talk. When somebody is speaking in front, that is an opportunity to learn. We should never stop listening and learning, because that’s the only thing that can keep us relevant.
2. When you do not understand something, you have all the rights to ask questions. So do not be afraid to ask. It is the imperative of students to stay curious, to ask questions, to challenge existing facts, and to gain new learning.
3. Keep a handwritten personal checklist and schedule so you are always guided in finishing your tasks. I will always be thankful to my high school adviser who has introduced me to this technique. This has helped me more than anything to complete requirements on time and to stay focused. We are busy people so we have to make sure that we can remember the details of our tasks. This will also help you keep things planned out. You do not want anything to mess with your personal timeline, right?
5. Kill the deadline before it kills you! Be wise in procrastinating. (Oops! Consider this a personal high school hack.) When a task is due next week, you have 6 days to rest or spend your time on other activities but always dedicate the last day to finish your task. Do not leave a task unattended. And unless it can be accomplished within a day, do it days in advance or at your own pace.
6. Do not mind the mountains that you have to climb and the rivers that you have to cross. Keep your eyes on the prize. Remember that rocky roads will still take you to your destination. Keep on going.
7. NEVER compare yourself to others. This is really challenging when you belong in a class surrounded by academically stellar students. But remember, it does not matter how slowly you go for as long as you do not stop. When you're focused on thinking how others are greater or lesser than you are, you would never learn to appreciate all the blessings that come in your life. So stop comparing. Tell yourself each time thoughts of comparison enter your mind, “I'm too busy working on my own grass to notice if yours is greener.”.
8. Look for a role model. It can be a friend, a senior, or a teacher who you look up to. They can be people who inspires you, who has achieved great things in life. If they can do it, then why can't you?
9. Believe in yourself. As J.M. Barrie said, “The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.” Doubt is the enemy of our dreams. In realizing our vision, it only takes one person to believe – that’s you. Who will believe in you if you do not believe in yourself? Our thoughts can be very powerful. We eventually become what we think. So, think like a winner.
10. Select your friends well. Surround yourself with people you can grow and achieve your goals with. Be wise in choosing your company because at many times, no matter how seemingly far your goals are, with the right company, you’ll get there in time.
11. Failure shouldn't stop you to achieve more. You cannot win every time but you can stand again each time you lose. Have that solid fighting spirit. It is certainly not an option but a necessity to survive. Everyone goes through it. Learn from it and grow.
12. Opportunities come to everyone but only those who are brave enough to act on them can succeed. When an opportunity comes knocking at your door, have the courage to welcome it. A lot of people do not regret the things that they have done but those that they did not do. Seize the day!
13. Dream high. Set a standard for yourself. Aim for the moon. When you fall, you'll land among the stars. Get that MS, PhD, JD, MD, at the end of your name. No sky is unreachable for a stalwart soul.
14. Always give yourself time to reflect. When the time comes and you think you can’t do it anymore, it is okay to take a time off. Humans are like gadgets. Even the most powerful phone in the world needs time to recharge when it’s out of battery. Go to your happy place and recalibrate yourself. Start again.
15. Remember your reason why. When you’re tired and weary, go back to the main reason why you’re doing what you’re doing in the first place. It can be for your family, for yourself, for the nation. Look for a motivation because it will be the fuel that will keep your fire burning.
When you are poor, options are only for the rich. Giving up is only for the weak. Success, it’s for everyone.

Everyday, I think of you.
I think of your perfectly straight, thick hair that I caress as you rest on my lap or my chest,
I think of your radiant, contagious, giddy smile that you flash every time I amuse you;
I think of your bushy, expressive eyebrows that cross when you’re sleepy annoyed, or overjoyed;
I think of your dreamy, emotive eyes that look at me as if I am the only thing it sees;
I think of your broad and wide shoulders that I cling onto and instantly - I feel safe;
I think of your lengthy arms that surround me a little too tight sometimes;
I think of your graceful hands that touch me so tenderly and gently;
I think of your marvelous mind that debates and resonates with me;
I think of you, my cadet -
From the mornings I rouse,
To the evenings I repose,
To the dreams I brave,
I think of you.
Yours devotedly,
Your Kaydet Girl

A tiring day...
Today was a bit frustrating because there were tasks that I failed to do.
I woke up early in the morning. I decided to do exercises in the afternoon. I scrolled through my phone and saw an alarming notification. The PNPA online application will end tomorrow at 5pm and I still didn't submit my application form as final because there is a lacking requirement, medical certificate. I already submitted my first application form last September 2020 but on the first week of January 2021, I received an email “Notice of Disqualification” because of my error in putting the measure of my height. Anyway, after seeing the notification, I planned to go to the City Health Office at 1pm today to have lab tests and get a medical certificate. But, the very sad thing is that, I forgot about this plan because my mother and my younger siblings were busy today, and if they are busy, they need my help and assistance. This is what happened: After we had a meeting with my group mates, I started to write a script for our assigned topic for the advocacy video but I did some changes in the topics that we agreed with. So, I still have to start to write a script again because I changed our content for the advocacy video. At noontime, I just had a quick lunch because I still have to help my mother to assist my younger sister in their online activity. After assisting my younger sister, I also have to assist my younger brother in their online activity. So, I did not have time to do some exercises. The plan to get a medical certificate was forgotten by me. It was 4:48pm when I remembered that I still have to go to the City Health Office. I was really upset because there is no other time to do such an important thing.
In getting a medical certificate, I need to have a chest X-ray. But I am worried about my health because I already had 2 consecutive X-rays in the year 2020. I consulted my parents if I should continue to be tested tomorrow, but they had a small argument because they also worry about my health. And that made me sadder. They talked about the importance of this test and my health. We know that the radiation is quite dangerous to one's health but I need to do it to comply all the requirements needed. I just hope the Office would be open tomorrow.
Tonight, I will try to calm myself and find my inner peace. I'll try to read a book that could bring comfort to my heart. Despite all the frustrating things that happened to me today, I'm still blessed and grateful because I am still alive and living my life with my loved ones. I wish I'll have a good night and enough sleep.
