since getting really into that kinda lame goth boy singer wicca phase springs eternal ive discovered a phenomenon that only seems to happen with this one dude’s music. where his lyrics are pretty unimaginative like 6 times out of 10, and because the sorta droning singing he does at all times makes it hard to understand what hes saying sometimes, i’ll think a lyric is one thing for like. many many listens. and then look it up and immediately be disappointed.

the wicca phase in my head is way funnier and more charming than the Actually Existing Wicca Phase

for instance:

and ive never run into this as consistently as i do with this one lil white boy with a hard to understand cadence and admittedly amazing beats. because like. i much prefer the version of this weird conceptual album about traversing the line between two worlds when hes walking in the shadow of The Gnome. but hes not. theres absolutely ZERO gnomes.

another example; i mistook the line “always in the back with GBC alone” as “always in the back with GBC and Lowell” and personally i think the albums better with Lowell, the friend whos cool enough to hang with but not cool enough to be in The Clique. give lowell back you son of a bitch.

and like, usually, when im listening to other musicians whose voices i have trouble understanding sometimes (smino, the tiny, early andre3000, shaggy, etc), the line in my head isnt funny or interesting it’s just wrong, and when i fix that misunderstanding im met with an ‘ohhhhhhh that makes so much more sennnnnse” feeling. but with wicca phase every time the actual line is less charming or less poetic, and im immediately disappointed in the lil goth boy.

what im wondering is if theres other musicians who are a) hard to understand, b) weird enough that the things you misunderstand them saying are deeply plausible, and c) have boring enough lyrics that when you correct the misunderstanding it doesn’t make the poem make more sense it just makes it less fun

ive been saving this ask until i could listen again and also just go crazy writing anyway the album is called 'to see the next part of the dream' by parannoul! i only heard abt it because it's apparently the top rated emo release of 2021 so far on rym (i stg im not usually on rym im enough of a snob as it is but sometimes in moments of weakness i have to check it out)

and its just a REALLY good album! sort of shoegaze-y, but sort of poppier and just overall more interesting imo than a lot of shoegaze ive listened to. (sidenote: dont i seem like the kind of annoying guy who'd be into shoegaze? but idk a lot of it just cant hold my attention for a whole song length) it's like perfect music for listening to lying down with your eyes closed and just like, pondering life. or like a good coming of age soundtrack kind of.

and admittedly i have only listened a couple times and also i have no clue what the lyrics are cause its in korean but. overall very good album. like it isnt really game changing or whatever, its not a whole new genre, but its just. really really solid cool to hear. good music that fills you up inside. id kill to have this either on cassette or vinyl. anyway yeah it fucks pls go listen

Eliott is a cat person. They are quiet and consistent but at the same time they have a personality of their own and are independent enough not to put too much pressure on him all the time for playing. His family’s cat is a bit of a (nice) bitch though, and Lucas freaks out he’s doing something wrong every time she stares at him with judgy eyes.

For Lucas��� first birthday together, Eliott gifts him a selection of his favorite albums on vinyl edition, so that he can listen to them when they’re at his place.

Lucas is the jealous type, which isn’t particularly easy to handle when his boyfriend is the oblivious type. Not that Eliott doesn’t know he’s attractive, he just thinks that telling people he’s taken is enough for them to back off (one word comes to Lucas’ mind when it happens: LUCILLE.)

Eliott loses the key to their flat at least once a month. He’s learned not to put things he holds dear on the key-chain.

Lucas is always running late or arriving terribly early. He never knows how to schedule anything properly and always ends up with 15 different alarms on his phone, which he obviously forgets to give a title to. A mess.

Eliott is the L in their relationship but he’s capable of memorizing any phone number or license plate if you give him thirty seconds and that drives Lucas crazy because, seriously? Numbers are supposed to be his thing.

Eliott has his driving license but he hates to drive, so he doesn’t have a car. Lucas couldn’t afford it and he was having enough trouble to reach out to his dad for his rent without adding another four number check to the total he needed to live decently.

Lucas is the kind of guy to arrive late to his own wedding. Just saying.

Eliott isn’t a violent person but there’s a certain number of things he would like to tell his father-in-law someday. You know. Just talking.

If you were to ask Lucas what was the most difficult thing about starting a relationship with Eliott Demaury, he would answer ‘toothpaste’. His boyfriend is allergic to mint which used to be Lucas’ favorite flavor (but Eliott is worth it).

They are the kind of couple to have a discourse about what should be ironed and what shouldn’t. Generally, that’s when their friends decide to change the topic of the conversation if they don’t want to hear about it for hours on end.

There are bad days, and sometimes it hurts Lucas to see Eliott like that, but he knows that ultimately he’s always going to be there for him no matter what, even if his boyfriend-turned-partner isn’t always able to see it.

This is not the face of someone who has a degree in Noisology, let alone even listened to a Noisia album.

Strained sounds of holding back laughter at this absolute clownery.

Exposition goes on about the UN acknowledging the existence of Noise, but them existing for far longer, existing in myths as demons and monsters of long ago. This makes little sense, but fuck it, just roll with it. They also say the Noise is rare, but this being Symphogear, the Noise will be here forever, until the end of time.

“its like the noise are a metaphor........................”

Hibiki, looking dead inside as the average overnight studying student would, muses whether someone is behind the noise. She also asks if you can hear the sound of one hand clapping.

Tsubasa makes a very relevant observation that the school is smack dab at the center of all these outbreaks. In retrospect, you probably should have asked her first. She points out it may be because someone wants their get their hands on the almost complete relic hidden away in the 2nd Division: Durandal. Why anyone wants an old ass french sword is beyond me.

“yeah i can do exposition too, fuck you”

Finished relics are extremely rare and as a result extremely powerful. Incomplete ones are pretty powerful, but need to be rebuilt a bit.

“i discovered all this, conveniently, as the only person left to do so! totally not suspicious at all.”

Hibiki starts her next day at school as she spots Tsubasa during her choir class.

“forget my nintendo switch with the latest smash bros game in the classroom goddamnit”

“hibiki please tone down the gay for five seconds while we try to get through this dumb singing class in one piece”

“THE GAY CAN NEVER BE TONED DOWN, IT CAN ONLY BE TONED”

Hibiki is then fed by multiple classmates for this statement.

The Anime Janai crew is fond of Hibiki, much like a group of Lords being fond of the royal court jester. Hibiki clowns it up by working on a report she procrastinated until the very last minute. “Your life sure is an anime!”, one of them says. Hibiki then says, “I wish!”. They smile in unison at the irony.

Look at how they mock the threads of reality. Absolute monsters.

Hibiki nails the report at the skin of her teeth, Miku’s gonna get ready for the meteor shower, everyone’s real fucking happy, the evening looks peaceful, all is well.

“i cant wait to do all these fun things we promised several times over!”

Unfortunately, the worst case scenario happens.

Her tiddies start ringing.

“no.... fuck.... my tiddies... they’re ringing...”

She knows now she cannot go.

In retrospect, she probably could’ve blown them off. I mean, what are they gonna do? Fire her? She’s practically irreplaceable. Alas, her conscience is too strong. The ringing from her tiddies too loud to ignore.

“okay im back for the thing you promised we’d do repeatedly that we planned for a good amount of weeks now”

“i got fucking ghosted didnt i”

Miku tries to keep it together. Neither of them are happy about this state of affairs, and rightfully so, because it’s fucking stupid. Hell, it would have made more sense of Miku knew but still got jealous anyway, because she feels her job is establishing too much distance! And they talk those problems out instead of issues that only arise if everyone’s a goddamn moron about communication!

NO! IT’S NOT CLEVER! IT’S FRUSTRATING! THERE ARE CLEVER WAYS TO SHOW A LACK OF COMMUNICATION BESIDES A CHAIN OF OBSTACLES TOO STUPID TO EXIST!

Miku takes the whole thing with grace even though I’m absolutely certain she threw her phone at the wall in raw, gay frustration.

Hibiki, understandably, is pretty fucking pissed.

“im gay. im angry, and im gonna fuck yall up for RUINING MY DATE AFTER HAVING FINISHED MY DAMN REPORT”

Hibiki fights the Noise. She’s gotten slightly better at fighting, but for now she’s still sorta trash at it. A grape themed Noise throws bombs and crushed her under rocks from a ceiling.

You’re a student. You’re the lone survivor of a concert that you got flak about for years. You go to an institution for singing with your best friend and basically get shoved into a life of crime fighting unwittingly. Your only teammate hates you and tried to kill you. You don’t get to hang out with your best friend anymore. Your teachers hate you. And you’re losing against the abominations that may have potentially warped your life negatively, forever.

This is probably the pivotal moment where Hibiki fucking snaps and decides she ain’t taking shit anymore. She’s not at her strongest yet, but mentally? She has decided to tell the world to go fuck itself.

“MY WIFE THINKS IM CHEAAAAAATING, MY TEAMMATE THINKS I SUUUUUUUUUCK, AND I’M SICK AND TIRED OF IT”
