PHUPHA | NANFAH: THE MINI SERIES (DELETED SCENES)
I am devoted to finishing THE PROMISE: THE SERIES even though the series is moving at a snails pace as far the BOYS' LOVE story is concerned.
No I do not like the direction of the series yet but hopefully it will get there soon as there are only 10 episodes.
Well let me rephrase that, it's not that I don't like the series but it's like they don't have enough to fill the 10 episodes so right now it's all filler. I mean they're practically giving the black cat Oliang his storyline.
But I decided to GIF some of the deleted scenes from the mini series.

Hi ABL! I’ve just watched Our Dating Sim and The Promise and like a lot of people I adored ODS and wasn’t as keen on The Promise… thinking about it though, they have a very similar premise, one guy kisses his friend, panics and runs away and ghosts him for 7-10 years… the abandoned friend is traumatised by this and is very happy when they reunite, and the one who ran away never really has to grovel to get him back…
Why do you think this worked so well in Our Dating Sim and fell flat in The Promise?
They the same premise - Why do we like Our Dating Sim SO MUCH better than The Promise?
Two BLs, both alike in premises, in fair Tumblr, where we lay our scene, from ancient pining trope to new romances, where sunshine gay makes chaos gay unseem(ly).
Couple of answers.
Time span of existing relationship: ODS set them up as first loves in high-school, but has them start & end in high school. So they didn't know each other well, just fast & intense as teens. The Promise gave us a long friendship since middle school through to college. So when Phu runs away he should have know better: himself, his friend, and their relationship. This makes his character disengeuntions and mistrusting at best, stupid at worse.
Depicted personality of characters: Our artist nerd Lee Wan is clearly closed-off and geeky. He gets rejected (he thinks), forced to move house, and then a death in the family as a 1-2-3 punch. Plus we understand that his personality is to retreat under those circumstances. Phu's personality is more open, he is in the service industry, for goodness sake! He runs away and removes himself from the situation why? Doesn't make sense for his character. And then he lies about it!
The LIEING: Phu lied about where he went and what he did for 10 years. 10 YEARS! ALSO he made OTHERS lie for him. Lee Wan ran away, ghosted, and disappeared but he never lied about it. In fact, his webtoon could be construed as a cry for help, designed to find, exactly who it needed to find, KiTae.
The support characters: Nan is given tons of options in lover who are NOT Phu, options that seem better than Phu (who are better - more earnest, more forthright, more communicative, more open). Neither of the boys in ODS are ever given alternates. The narrative is telling us that they are meant for each other from start to finish.
Character growth: ODS dealt with the resulting fall-out of KiTae's abandonment issues (issues that are the result of Lee Wan's running). It shows Lee Wan realizing what he did and the damage it caused. It shows Lee Wan choosing to stay this time because he has learned and grown as a person and as someone worthy of KiTae's love. Phu never grew.
I had another one but I forgot what it was...

Currently Watching - March
Just a little PSA - I am on a little hiatus until April the 9th. I have some personal stuff to deal with, but nothing bad 😁 Positive all the way and good for my personal growth!
I won't be able to gif any of the series for the time, but I will watch them and perhaps write down some thoughts 😊 And if you want me to gif some scenes, just let me know and I will get to them when I am finished with my stuff 😊 And of course I will still reblog stuff from all of these wonderful creators on this site!
Please stay healthy and happy!
Because I love a good little list - in alphabetical order! 😊
Regularly updated during the month, latest update 31.03.2023
This may contain spoilers!
1. A Boss and A Babe (5/12 on Youtube)
I am not the biggest fan of ForceBook, mostly because I didn't like Enchanté, but I could help myself and smile troughout this series. Cher is annoying, but it works here, I guess? I don't know what it is. It is fun to watch.
2. Bed Friend (6/10 on iQiyi)
The trauma is strong in this one! As are the tension and longing looks of King. And Uea is beautiful and knows how to play the game.
3. Chains of Heart (6/10 on iQiyi)
Cinematography and scenery - stunning! Really pretty and dark and atmospheric. I guess I get used to the subtitles and the acting improved. So I kind of like this one? I definitely have a weak spot for Mr. Lue.
5. Past Senger (4/12 on Gaga)
What the mess did I just watch? It was boring and funny and cringy and funny and I don't know...Do I like the vibes it gives away? We will see. Episode 2 didn't help! It is really cringy and the acting is...not that good -.-
6. The Eighth Sense (2/10 on Viki)
I like the first two epsiodes. I have a weak spot for surfing ever since the movie Shelter and this is just a dream came true. I am curious about the characters and their developement. But the cliffhanger from episode two was brutal!
7. The Promise (5/10 on WeTV)
I like it. Are there cringy moments? Yes. Are there slapstick moments I can hardly deal with? Yes. Are there plotholes that bug me? Sure...but! I like it. I like Nan and Phu together and I love the slow burn and am I well entertained. I also enjoy little Party being the jealous king he is, who deeply care for Nan and if latter would choose him, i wouldn't be that angry!
8. Tin Tem Jai (5/10 on Gaga)
And we took 45 steps back and the show is kind of annoying like before...Tin can't stop aksing Park to marry him and it gets to a point where it just annoys the crap out of me. But Park can't say a clear word so what do we do here? Just let him date the cute senior.
9. Unintentional Love Story (6/10)
Okay, I am in love with this one. I know it will hurt when the truth comes out, but I am willing to get hurt for them. The chemistry is wild between them and I am looking forward to the second couple!
Finished in March
Series
1. History 5: Love in the Future (10/10 on Viki)
I really don't like it. the plot was stupid and boring. The plotholes big and heavy like black holes. The chemistry...I don't like it either in the end. Vincent was the only reason I was looking forward to this one. And the whole time travel thing was just so stupid and irrelevant! It could have been good, but it wasn't. 3 out of 10 for me.
2. Utsukushii Kare Season 2 (4/4 on Gaga)
I fell in love with Kiyoi, especially in the last two epsiodes. I am curious about the upcoming movie. The season was good and most of all in the end with a kind of good communication. 7 out of 10 for me.
3. Moonlight Chicken (8/8 on Youtube)
I love it! It has everything I can dream of in a series. It has beautiful cinematography and scenery. The acting was top. The story...so good! All the stories were just so good! I love EarthMix and they delivered. And I love GeminiFourth and they delivered too. They had to deal with endings and letting go and new beginnings and angst and grief and hope and joy and happiness and love and everything! Just everything! Definitely a 10 out of 10 for me!
4. Island Part 2 (4/6 - non bl)
It was not as good as the first part, because it felt too rushed and there were some parts that needed more time to explain. Besides that it was a good fantasy/mystical show with some nice effects and a pretty cast. The ending though...I don't know...will there be a part 3??? I give it 8 out of 10.
5. Bokura no Micro na Shuumatsu (7/8 on Gaga aka The End of the World with you)
It started so strong! I really liked the depressing atmosphere and world ending vibe. But it lost me in the middle of the journey. Suddenly there were some supernatural elements that don't make sense and are not at all explained. And don't get me started on the kissing scenes! There are some really explict scenes, but they kissed like they didn't wanna touch or hurt each other. It was not bad, but also not that good in the end. It is a 6,5 out of 10 for me.
6. Shadow and Bone (5/8 on Netflix - no bl, but queer representation)
I am really shoping for a third season, the cliffhanger was harsh! This is not a perfect series, but I like it and besides Alina, I like every character. And yes, my favorite are of course Wesper! They were cute and had some sweet scenes together and I really want to know if Jesper will train his powers. It is a 9 out of 10 for me.
7. All the Liquors (6/8 on Gaga)
It started promising for me. I liked it. I thought perhaps they are going the road that they learn from each other. one is drinking and glorificating alcohol less and the other is going to be more open to dfferent opinions. But nope, drinking is fine and fun and now our chef drinks alcohol to every meal and I don't like it. Yes perhaps personal reasons play a big role and perhaps the glorification of alcohol triggers my mind a little bit too much. And the kiss...well they could have done better. 6 out of 10 for me.
8. A Shoulder To Cry On (on Viki)
Was it a perfect show? No. Was the acting good? Yes. Was the chemistry believable? Yes. Do I need a kiss in every bl? No. Was there a lack of romance and love? Kind of. Did I like it? Yes, I did. The adaptation stick to the original manhwa and there wasn't big love confessions or depictions of affection. I think the series was fine until the last minute. I liked their own way of love. Not everything has to end with a kiss. I am happy with the story. 8 out of 10 for me.
9. Our Dating Sim (on Viki)
Perfection! I love it. The story was so good. The chemistry was so good. Everything felt so natural. The pacing was believable. I klnow I will rewatch this one from time to time just to have a good time. Oh how much I love this one! Strong 10 out of 10 for me.
10. Jack o'Frost (on Gaga)
Well this was a quiet little gem. I loved how they showed the relationship throughout the different times, how it started, how it progressed and how it ended. There was drama all the time, but it felt real and that is one of the small details I really enjoyed about this one. The story felt real. It is a 9 out of 10 for me.
Short Film
Movie
1. The Chronicles of a boy (Homo Phobia) (on Gaga)
Meet Yeong Taek, a young man, who has suffered an absured amount of physical and psychological abuse and has a tendency for strangeling people who did him wrong...There were things I liked about this movie and which were kind of challenging, but overall I didn't like it. And didn't like the protagonist. Would not recommend this one. 4,5 out of 10 for me.
Dropped/On Hold in March
1. Boyband
Because they decided not to air it any longer on youtube, I stopped watching it...It was promising though...
2. Love Syndrome III
I have watched the first half of the first epsiode and I couldn't watch any further. I can't tell how the story will progress, but right now I really can't stand the character of Itt. Why is he always so damn angry and loud?
Looking Forward to in March (with MDL-Links)
The Promise (March 1 on WeTV)
All The Liquors (March 2 on GagaOOLala)
A Boss And A Babe (March 3 on Youtube)
Love Syndrome (March 4 on WeTV)
PastSenger (March 8 on GagaOOLala)
Our Dating Sim (March 9 on Viki)
Future (March 19 on GagaOOLala)
A Shoulder To Cry On (March 14 on Viki)
Unintentional Love Story (March 17)
Make a Wish (March 22)

Phu doesn't see Nan as a person and he never has. That is not sustainable in a relationship. Phu sees Nan as he wants to see Nan. He sees the version of Nan he has cooked up in his head. The version of Nan that made him run and abandon his best friend for a whole damn decade. But, and this is important, that is not who Nan is. At all.
Phu thinks Nan is someone who could say incredibly cruel, hurtful, and hateful things to him because of his crush. Even before we saw Nan reject Party, we all knew that Nan wasn't that type of person. He is a kind and caring person and he is outstandingly loyal to his friends. He wrote to Phu's ghost for an entire decade. And Phu still thought Nan was the kind of person that would abandon him at the mere mention of potential feelings. Phu projected all of his insecurities on Nan so hard he turned his friend into an awful person in his mind. If Phu had been paying any attention to Nan at all, he would have seen what everyone else saw.
I understand why Party and Khunkhao fell in love with Nan. They saw his kindness and they saw his heart and they saw his loyalty and his passion and they fell in love. I honestly don't know who Phu fell in love with because it's not Nan. How could Phu think such horrid things about his friend and still claim to love him. If I thought any of my friends were as cruel as Phu's version of Nan, I wouldn't love them platonically much less romantically. So how can Phu claim to love his friend after projecting his insecurities so hard he created a cruel enough version of Nan to abandon him for ten years out of fear?
Phu does not deserve Nan. But Nan does deserve that job opportunity in China. He not only deserves it, but he has more than earned it. And Nan should get some space from Phu instead of continuously rewarding his poor and ultimately cruel decisions. Phu has constantly and consistently hurt Nan. It's time for Nan to get some space. Nan needs space that he chose. Phu needs to learn who Nan really is as a person before he can even be Nan's friend let alone his boyfriend. This relationship is doomed to fail because neither one of them sees the other for who they are. Nan will break himself trying to stay with Phu because he sees Phu as a much better person than he is. Phu will drag down Nan and make him suffer because he sees Nan as a much worse person than who he is.
#the promise#the promise the series#the promise bl#party and khunkhao see nan as he is#as a person#phu for some reason sees nan as a demon#and nan sees phu as an angel#when in fact it's the opposite#and angel demon relationships can work#but only if they know who is who and which is which#their current dynamic is not sustainable and i hope to god nan is able to break free

THE PROMISE (2023, THAILAND)
The Series I've been waiting for is here. The premiere was today (March 1, 2023)
A bit different to the two mini series that preceded it I am still hopeful.
The Promise tells the story of two best friends since childhood Phupha aka Phu (KITTIKUN TANSUHAS aka KUN) & Nanfah aka Nan (WATTIKORN PERMSUBHIRUN aka KIAK)
Phu fell madly in love with Nan but couldn't tell him.
Here (not in the mini series) Nan says he knows Phu loves him and he loves him too. Then Nan kisses Phu. But...Nan is drunk.
It looks like the series is taking a deviation from the mini series...but I'm still intrigued...for now

BL 2023...The Year of Runner
Today watching episode 6 of STAR STRUCK there was a time jump of 5 months...no big deal, right. However in Episode 4 Han Joon confessed to Yoo Jae. Yoo Jae walks away but Episode 5 & 6 reveals Han Joon disappear leaving Yoo Jae behind. And he explains why so well. I tried gif-ing it but didn't turn out great but here they are anyway
Love Confessions Are Difficult Enough Especially when it's a friend. So let's go down the line of actual runners and mental runners.
The Series: The Promise
The Runner: PHUPHA
Phu gets a lot of hate because he ran. Unlike the other people on the list he never confessed before leaving. Phu is reserved he doesn't like to be around a lot of people. He's introverted. Often introverts listen and notice and keeps things in their head. Phu remembered when Nan said he would never date friend. So he shot his shot a different way (at the wrong time) he kissed Nan while he was drunk. In my opinion that was Phu's way of confessing. To open conversation but Nan passed out and forgot. So Phu felt he had to leave. For his own sanity. Was it the cowards way out? That's open to interpretation.
The Series: OUR DATING SIM
The Runner: LEE WAN
Wan took his shot straight forwardly and Shin Ki Tae's initial reaction wasn't favorable. To Lee Wan he took chance and he felt immediately he made a mistake. So instantly he ran. But Lee Wan had no idea Shin Ki Tae immediately came after him so for 7 years he thought Shin Ki Tae was his past until Ki Tae brought Wan back into his life.
The Series: PAST-SENGER
The Runner: BAMEE
Bamee didn't physically run away but he did mentally thanks to real amnesia and fake amnesia. Once he recovered his memories he kept it to himself to keep Kiew with him and he kept running until Kiew tricked him by using Moodaeng to return to the 90's so then Bamee had to stop running. The truth was his only option.
The Series: THE EIGHTH SENSE
The Runner: JAE WON
Like Bamee, Jae Won didn't physically run away from Ji Hyun he instead took the mental run as well. Freezing Ji Hyun out. Pretending like their time together was meaningless although it was all that was on his mind. He hurt himself and he hurt Ji Hyun until he finally chose to be honest and take a chance on love.
The Series: A BOSS AND A BABE
The Runner: CHER aka LAEM
Cher fell for Gun however Gun's mother or parents didn't see Cher as right for Gun. So Cher decided to focus on himself for a bit. To graduate to win his tournament. To make himself believe he was good enough for Gun. To make himself better and to continue so he could not only continue improving himself so that he felt he was good enough for Gun.
The Series: STAR STRUCK
The Runner: HAN JOON
He brought some chocolate for his man and had them thrown back at him. But he never did not love Yoo Jae. After the confession he turned his back on Yoo Jae. But barely thought about himself when Yoo Jae proclaimed he wanted them to be friends again. He just started up again. Feelings still there and Yoo Jae ignoring them until he couldn't. Yoo Jae spent all of Episode 5 & 6 being jealous of Han Joon's "bro" and even the girl in the coffee shop. But with only 2 episodes left and the last with Yoo Jae kissing Han Joon. Seems likely Best Friends will move to Boyfriends.
Now obviously each viewer of these BL Series have their own opinions (which are just as valid) but not every runner is a coward. And it's never wrong to put your mental health first even in front of the one you love most.
So Nan forgave Phu because he loves him
Ki Tae forgave Lee Wan because he loves him
Kiew forgave Bamee because he loves him
Ji Hyun forgave Jae Won because he loves him
Gun forgave Cher because be loves him
Yoo Jae forgave Han Joon because he loves him.

THE PROMISE (2023, THAILAND)
Episode 6 (after month long hiatus)
I have a lot to say about this series...so without further ado let the ramble begin.
I fell in love with these characters because of the 2 mini series last year PHUPHA (August 2022) then NANFAH (November 2022) before the series was announced. For the mini series it was a more serious tone to it. Phu was ready to confess to Nan after Nan set Phu up on a date with Dina. You could see the life force drain from Phu as Nan brought him to a restaurant then made up an excuse to leave so Dina could confess to Phu that she liked him. Phu told Dina he was in love with Nan and she convinced him to tell Nan. So Phu decided to do that on the last day of university. He says to Nan I have something to tell you so come straight home after your final exams. Nan agrees. Phu comes to Nan's faculty and hears him talking to friends about going out. Now Nan told his friends he needed to go see Phu. Then Phu sees Nan walk up to Gigi and hug her as she gives him a rose. Thinking Nan has chosen Gigi, Phu goes home and packs and leaves a note saying he's moving to Melbourne to be with his mother.
Now in Nanfah, Nan has a chat with his landlady where she reveals the story of Phu leaving after ordering a flower bouquet with a meaning but he came home crying and brokenhearted and left. Nan figures out Phu's feelings and for 10 years searches for Nan. Going to Melbourne every year looking for Phu. Emailing him. Video messaging him.
Now the series cuts a lot of that out. So we start with Phu orchestrating his way back into Nan's life.
So in Episode 5 of the series Nan finds out Phu lied to him and says he never wants to see him again.
So in Episode 6 one expects Phu to grovel to get back in Nan's good graces but NO.. Nan starts the whole process over again when he finds Phu has run away again (this time he thought his grandmother needed him) but Nan again runs after Phu. Yes, he's angry but not as angry as he should be.
So my theory is Nan is just as much into Phu as Phu is into Nan but for different reasons neither wants to say the words. I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU.
Nan is like a zombie after he learns Phu has once again ran off. He can barely function. When the series started Nan couldn't even sleep without prescription drugs. He wrote unanswered emails for 10 years.
Is there a codependency between these two? An obsession? Or is it an unspoken love? Or all of the above.
Nan is always very affectionate with Phu. Cheek kissing, face holding and hugging. Remember that look of jealousy when he saw Phu with Dina in Phu's bedroom?
Anybody else would have put Phu on the back burner and moved on. But Nan can't let go.
Our Dating Sim did this very thing (but better) Lee Wan confessed but felt rejected before disappearing for 7 Years while Ki Tae searched and brought Lee Wan back into his universe via a job.
Plus even after all this during Phu's dream of losing Nan after confessing. Nan says I'LL NEVER LEAVE YOU. DAMN GUYS JUST SAY IT ALREADY!!!
Now you gonna tell me Nan was so drunk that he forgot that kiss with Phu?
I think that kiss was Phu's confession because he was so serious about it. He wanted Nan to raise the question. What happened? Why? Because Phu can't say the words. He can't confess. It terrifies him for some reason. He wants Nan SO BAD but he can't say it. So instead he runs away. But quite honestly Phu has been a good friend to Nan and vice versa. From the minis to the series. But his constant running away makes it seem like the opposite is true. I hope this series picks it up soon from being an ad to being a BL.
RANT OVER.

My Most Anticipated BL of 2023. Now as a BL Fan (I Might Even Say Super Fan) I look forward to all releases. However This BL started Last Year as 2 mini series. And is Based on a True Story. It is called THE PROMISE
The series is a story of two childhood best friends PHUPHA & NANFAH that a promise to always stick together. Phupha, however fell madly in love with Nanfah but was unable to tell him. After a debacle with Nan trying to set Phu up with Deena (who had a secret crush on Phu) Phu decided to reveal his feelings for Nan (thanks to Deena's advice) so on the last day of university Phu asked Nan to come straight home as he had something to tell him. (They were roommates) Phu later saw Nan with his friends and a female freshman Gigi (who had a crush on Nan) and was hurt and left claiming to be joining his mother in Melbourne Australia by a note.
Time jump: Phu has been gone for 10 years with Nan searching for him.
So the 2 mini series had a different director, but the series is being directed by KONGKIAT KHOMSIRI [Nickname: KHOM] who is responsible most notably for KINNPORSCHE but he has a lot of other shows he directed as well as movies and he's a screenwriter.
The Series Stars:
KITTIKUN TANSUHAS [KUN] as PHUPHA
WATTIKORN PERMSUBHIRUN [KIAK] as NANFAH
&
THAWATCHANIN DARAYON [BOSS] as Party
Boss was not a part of the 2 mini series but is a part of the series as a man also in love with Nanfah. BL fans may recognize him from WHAT ZABB MAN, NOT ME, & NITIMAN
The series is slated for a March 1, 2023 release on WE TV and also on DEVONTE296 YOUTUBE CHANNEL. The two mini series are available now on DEVONTE296 YOUTUBE CHANNEL along with 13 deleted scenes (the mini series are subtitled not all of the deleted scenes are subtitled)
