#PERSONALLY I have a parent who is similar to Emelie

You once said that your version of Emilie is a menace, but not a "villain." Does that mean she'll eventually come to her senses and let her son live his life his way? (I'm sorry, please forgive me. I'm sort of a sucker for her and have always advocated to be a protagonist who learns from her mistakes)
So she’s not a villain because she truly wants what’s best for Adrien and usually isn’t acting selfishly.
HOWEVER,
She has a very narrow view of what she considers beneficial to him, which is why I consider her an antagonist. Near the end she’ll realize she has no/lost control over him, and maybe have the revelation that her son is his own person?? I think she’s so hands-on with him is because she’s worried he’s been lost so long without her. Like she’s been comatose for what? Almost 10 years? She still sees him as a child who always came running to her and needed her comfort, someone she had to protect. So I think once he finally stands up and says he won’t just do as she says anymore (through saying he’ll not break up with Marinette) she’ll realize that he’s not that kid anymore!! But then it’ll lead to her trying to set him up with Cerise, so I’m not too sure about the “learning from mistakes” aspect of her character.
#thank you for the ask!! <3#chocoau#chocoau char#PERSONALLY I have a parent who is similar to Emelie#miraculous au#and so I’m probably EXTREMELY biased but#you can’t really change a stubborn parent’s mind#SORRY EMELIE APOLOGIST </3

The Svensson Family
Apologize for the wait but it's here!!! Sven and Earrings won the poll, so I get to show y'all these awful bastards now!!!
The Svensson family is a notoriously infamous criminal syndicate in Sweden. They're very wealthy and very powerful, being around for many generations. The family prides themselves on having a large control of illegal wares, underground economies and various other shady businesses.
This is gonna be the first part where I introduce each and every one of them. I'll explain more about them and Sven and Earrings relationships toward them later.
Bios for each family member under the cut
(also pleaseee please reblog i spent a lot of time on it and it mean a lot if you read :3)
Sven Svensson Sr.
The head of the family, he is one of the most feared crime bosses in the country. He's an extremely stoic individual who never shows any sort of emotion. The one exception is when he gets angry, and even then it takes a lot to get him to shout.
That doesn't mean he's not a violent man, however, quite the opposite. While usually leaving his goons to do the acts for him, he is not hesitant to pummel the people that cross him into a bloody pulp. He often even does so around other people, to make an example of what happens to those that fail their tasks or try to usurp him.
His wife Margareta (maiden name Fahlén) is a lot more warmer than him, at least on the surface. She comes from a similar criminal but high profile background and married Sven Sr for power. She's very gentle and soft-spoken. With how nicer she is than the rest of the family, you'd be mistaken into thinking that she's actually a good person. She is not.
She's a natural in social situations and is great in manipulation. She's a very confident in her skills and is used to getting what she wants out of people. That's how she managed to become powerful in the first place. That's how she married into the Svensson family. That's how she had her own children become as great as they are.
The two of them had four kids together: Earrings, Sven, Auguste, and Emelie. For now we'll skip the first two.
Auguste Sven Svensson is the third child of the Sven Sr and Margareta and the one that looks most like their mother. He inherited his father's stoicism and his mother's people skills. He used to actually be a very shy child, often hiding at the back of his older siblings. But as time went on his parents started to take notice at how much more,,,,adept he was than his other siblings. Sven Sr could see the potential in him that his second son never had. He needed to make sure this boy would become as great as he was.
His parents molded him into becoming the perfect heir to the Svensson name. Any weaknesses or outside interests were beaten out of him. Auguste is resigned to the role that he plays and sees it as they ways things are meant to be. Even if he never wanted it in the first place, he convinces himself that he just needs to be what everyone wants him to be.
Emelie Svensson
Is the youngest member of the family and is certainly the brattiest. With her siblings getting all of their parent's attention (whether in a good or bad way), that left little care for the girl who just didn't seem to stand out. Of course, it made little ol' Emelie really upset that no one in her family paid attention to her and she took out her anger onto others. Servants, stray animals, even her own siblings weren't exempt from her wrath. Her parents only enabled this behavior, finally giving her some sort of praise from them.
Presently she's about as haughty and cruel as ever, soaking up all the privileges she has as a young woman hailing from a wealthy crime family. Despite her love of bloodshed, she gets very distraught if any blood gets onto her and her million dollar worth dresses.
Ines Svensson is the sister of Sven Sr and is somehow even more colder and stoic than him. She is very sharp, calculating, and Highly formal. She treats her family more like people that work for her. There is no one who she shows any hint of warmth towards.
...Save for maybe her husband, Stellan Cronholm. A loud and brutish man, he is the ringleader of a large animal smuggling ring that mostly deals with rare, sought out species. He has a personal preference for (endangered and highly expensive) snakes, his favorites being pythons. He loves them more than his own kids (which he holds no affection for).
Whenever he finds anyone (working for him or not) that he suspects is trying to expose it, he sends them to his personal snake pit. It is exactly what it sounds like.
Ines and Stellan had twins together, Maja and Magnus.
The two were raised mainly by their mother-sorry, boss. The two are both highly efficient and ruthless mercenaries. They were also discouraged from showing any 'softness' to each other as siblings. These sort of stuff had it so the two didn't really mingle with their cousins until they were older.
Both of them were very much affected by their training but Maja was the only one that showed it. Magnus learns to get over it quicker and so does his sister.
Maja is honestly pretty civil when not doing any mercenary work. She doesnt like being around anyone just herself. She likes origami and keeps some in her room.
Magnus learned to get over it by learning to enjoy hurting people, kinda like Emelie. So when hes not going around being a human weapon, hes pulling 'harmless' pranks on others. His all time favorite prank victim is Maja due to always getting a rise out of her. Sometimes even breaking into her room and destroying her stuff. She often tries killing him for this but always fails to do so.
Finally, we come back to these two. Perle (now known by her toppat nickname 'Earrings') and Sven Jr.
Perle was the oldest one and was the former golden child of Sven Sr's kids, at least until Auguste grew up. Constantly being praised immenseness for her ingenuity, wit, and social skills helped her bloom into the person who she is today. Although, the extremely suffocating pressure she had as the former chosen successor of her family's line of work caused her to stray away when she got older.
She's a very resourceful person with a knack for inventing. Her favorite one she's created are her beloved stun earrings.
In contrast to his darling sister, Sven was the black sheep of the family. He was a....fine enough boy, but he could never reach the insanely high expectations placed upon him. He was constantly belittled and bullied by his own family for being weak willed and generally failing at the things they order him to do.
One too many incidents later, he was exiled from his family by his own father. He joined the Toppat Clan as a way to repent. To finally prove his worth and be seen as the man his family (and himself) always wanted him to be. So far that has not happened.

i feel like i’ve seen this comparison made before but i’m gonna do it again anyways.
adrien agreste = a bad version of zuko (atla)
they’re both the fandoms’ most-popular character, both are subject to abuse from their dad, both have mysteriously missing mothers, both have great privilege and power and both are woobified by the fandom.
the difference is one character has a story and arc and characterisation that makes sense, and the other is adrien.
lets go through everything one by one hmm?
abusive dad:
so zuko’s entire arc basically centres around him overcoming the abuse of his father, which is also given thematic significance in that zuko’s abuse parallels the way the firelord/s have abused their people and the world and is a powerful narrative for any child trying to reconcile the love and fear they have for abusive parents. (there are a million and one essays about this out there but still. i feel like i’ve made my point)
adrien’s abuse is almost always a tangential thing. it seems to only exist as something to make adrien sad for pity points. adrien’s abuse doesn’t seem to have any bearing on his actions, or motivations as a person or character. his exposure to people who actually care about him isn’t building some kind of internal conflict or realisation that even though adrien loves his dad, he’s not healthy or safe to be around. we’re 3 seasons in to the show and the only thing adrien’s said or done or thought about his relationship with his dad is ‘sometimes i’m sad but sometimes i’m happy’.
mysteriously missing mothers:
so we see in some really poignant scenes that the disappearance of zuko’s mum was extremely traumatic for him and something he’s still dealing with and broken over years later.
adrien has also got a missing mum, and like from what i can tell from the show she’s been missing like about 9 months? maybe slightly more. and conveniently, we very, very rarely see adrien act or react in any way that could be related to his mother. the episode where he sneaks out to see his mum’s movie is possibly the only time we see adrien acting out of grief.
what we see with adrien most of the time is someone who’s already grieved. someone who’s already accepted and moved on, not someone who’s holding on to the hope that his beloved mother is actually safe and well and on her way home rn (because, again, as far as adrien’s aware emelie just disappeared one day. sounds like kidnapping to me). adrien’s acting like he never even knew or cared about his mum, like she died of natural causes when he was a baby or something. that he’s got fondness for her simply because she’s his mum, but no personal relationship to deal with.
great privilege and power:
at the moment, adrien’s actually pretty similar to zuko’s early use of his power. zuko was desperate to get what he wanted (his dad’s love) and was willing to enact violence and terrify innocent people to get it. eventually though he learned that he had a duty to use his power (as a fighter and prince) for good.
adrien’s still kinda in the first stage and i honestly don’t know if he’ll get better. adrien wants marinette/ladybug to love him and he wants to have fun, it’s just convenient that fighting a supervillain is ‘fun’ for him and being a ‘hero’ keeps him close to marinette. we’ve already seen adrien’s willing to use his position as a superhero to try and keep marinette to himself (copycat, frozer, glaciator, ladybug and so on) and takes advantage of the fact that he has a miraculous to ignore marinette’s boundaries almost every episode. and no, it’s not on the same scale as the prince of an imperial power setting villages on fire, but the fact remains that adrien is still not the great paragon of virtue and kindness the show pretends he is.
i’ve gotten shit for this before and i’ll get shit for it again: but adrien is badly written. he’s constantly set up as the ultimate hero and a saint and a virtuous angel even though virtually every single one of his actions is wrong and morally disgusting and it’s to the point that if anyone says ‘hey maybe don’t worship this animated child’ his stans will come for your throat foaming at the mouth and demanding you instead criticise any of the other characters that’s already criticised fairly.
i just. it shouldn’t be too much to ask for a show that makes a show of bringing up traumatic events like emotional abuse and missing parents and a supervillain that takes advantage of people’s negative emotions to actually have a bearing on the characters and plot.

So I drew this yesterday and thought, "What if Marinette had a sword?" And I was hit with a Medieval AU.
Ok, so in this AU, a knight and his trusty stead are traveling past what seems like an abandoned village when the Knight hears a baby's crying from a nearby cottage. The house is in disarray, much like the rest of the town, and it seems fit to collapse. Inside the largest bedroom, he finds a seven month old baby girl with the blackest hair and bluest eyes he's ever seen. Shes downright adorable, and he feels his heart ache at the thought of such a child losing her parents so tragically (the blood stained floors were evidence enough). So, obviously, he takes her with him on his long journey before returning home, despite knowing it will take them years to return to the castle.
They travel far and wide on their journey and he raises his new ward to be brave, kind, courageous and strong. At the age of five, after a wolf tried to attack her when she wandered from the path, he decided to teach her how to brandish a knife so that no predators could hurt her. She quickly evolved to swordfighting, and dedicated herself to become the best swordsman around. She grew up with the dream of becoming a Knight like her Guardian and one day protecting her Guardian's King from harm, just like him, the Jade Turtle. He quickly earned his name due to his armor's weathered appearance, weathered silver that shone a tinge of green in the sunlight. His shield was scratched up from battles in what looked like a turtle shell pattern, and his eyes held nothing but wisdom. He may have been old, but his body was as fit as ever. Certainly well enough to continue being an excellent Knight.
She wanted to be known like him. Have a name like his. And after a beautiful Ladybug landed on her sword after practice during one of their breaks, the young girl, at the age of 9, decided her name would be Lady Knight.
Donned in her signature black dress (one she had made herself that was not only light, but also non-restrictive for combat), a white cape with a red and black-spotted transparent layer over it, and similar colored armored gloves and boots, she quickly became a prominent fixture in their image. Every town they visited would remember the kind, spotted, young and brave Knightress, and rumors of her heroics would spread along the kingdom with Jade Turtle's name.
And with such fame came many enemies trying to cut down this young dreamer. Who did this little wench think she was, thinking a female could ever become a Knight for King Gabriel? A woman's place was in the home, being the perfect wife and cooking great meals for her hardworking husband, not in the battle field, being coated with the blood of her foes as she cut them down a size, literally and figuratively. But with every enemy that tried to take her down, she would rise above them in victory, and her name grew with respect and honor. She only hurt those who were evil and with no hope for redemption, those who refused to learn their lessons and learn from their mistakes. Those who were unnecessarily cruel to others saw their ends at her sword. She was a protector of innocents. She was fierce. She was kind. She was strong. She was Lady Knight.
She was 15 when Jade Turtle's journey was finally coming to its end, and his time to return to the castle had arrived. But it was a lot different than what it had been. The castle was almost empty of servants, the streets were dark and gloomy, and Queen Emelie was dead. The castle was mostly closed off and all were forbidden to enter, except for the knights and the few servants the King had left to care for the place.
But there was also a new law: no woman in the kingdom would ever be allowed in the battle field again. Queen Emelie had always insisted on brandishing a sword. She had been a Knightress once, and, during a small invasion of the kingdom, she had pushed herself into the front lines, despite her husband's pleas. She was killed in battle, along with many other women and men, leaving many children motherless, including young Prince Adrien.
Due to the law, Lady Knight could not enter the castle under her self-given name, but what name to choose? She had had no other for most of her life. Jade Turtle had always called her "Dear", "Sweetie", or "Lady", but, except for the last one, none of them ever seemed right. She thought long and hard on who she was, and, after lots of consideration, she finally decided on Marinette. It was nice, sweet, and meant "the one who rises", and she certainly dreamed of one day rising high above her limitations. She would go beyond the limits and social barriers others tried to cage her in. She was a warrior. She was fierce. She was strong. She was kind. She was Marinette.
So Jade Turtle introduced her to King Gabriel as his ward, Marinette. King Gabriel, though reluctant to have a stranger entering his castle after the death of his wife, allowed her stay in exchange for her service. They agreed, Marinette was dubbed Maid 7, and, due to the last maid trying to get "close" to Prince Adrien despite to large age difference, Marinette was assigned as Prince Adrien's personal maid.
With the challenge of keeping her old life a secret, a handsome and oblivious Prince who was a magnet for trouble, and a stubborn king who would kill her if he found out her secret with the snap of his fingers, how could Marinette ever achieve her goal of changing the King's mind about Knightresses so that she could become one herself?
