do you also have an ungodly amount of headcanons about one too? if you donât mind đđ
Yes! Things I've (+Teaa) talked about:
One's morals (found towards the bottom) also recited here (at the bottom) , One + Casey Jr. (all links relating to One and Casey Jr.'s relationship are linked at the bottom), One (and Two) like to dance and sing-- angsty bonus | silly bonus. One accidentally gets drunk one time visiting Usagi at the hotel, One has busted himself and Two out of jail multiple times, One's bluetooth heart-- silly post 1 | silly post 2. One learns to cook from Draxum One had tried to train Two after he lost his arm (mentioned here), One growls, One will get into Jupiter Jim when he's more comfortable with exploring surface pop culture + has a fascination with magic like Leo, One leaves with Usagi (post-movie) to help him in Japan (loosely mentioned here), and Onesagi's first kiss. More head canons.
Things I have not talked about:
One dislikes kids
One sees a little bit of Two in Casey (Sr.) which is why he bonds with her so quickly
One does not remember the details of the incident where he lost his heart except that Two had said that he figured out how to make One stronger and the next thing he'd know is lying on a table with a prosthetic.
When One fought in the Nexus, he had a group of fans who'd wind up turning their backs on him when he dips. Since One (and Two) are widely considered abominations and menaces in the Hidden City, his stardom was largely due to Big Mama advertising him as a star. People grew to adore One while he was Big Mama's champion but the second he stepped out the door, they turned on him. Whatever 'fans' he had will think that he's a fallen star who hit his peak in the Nexus.
This last one probably won't be canon, it's more like a branch-off au. Teaa and I both have leosagi next gen ocs who are twins (Aoki and Aika) and I wanted to figure out how to incorporate them into EMD. Since One dislikes kids (even when he's older), the twins would've been mistakes since One would unlikely willingly have any (Casey Jr. is an exception bc Casey Sr. made One promise to look after him).
But getting the twins so suddenly causes him a lot of anxiety and insecurity because One already has so much trouble with Casey Jr. and he doesnât know how or want to take care of two more kids and, by now Usagi has left.
But he also accepts the fact that Aoki and Aika are his kids and he wouldn't trust anybody else to take care of them, so despite how he feels, he does what he can to keep them alive but keeps them at an even farther emotional distance than he does with Casey Jr.

thoughts on coach ukai (jr) and nekomata and ukai (sr)
Jr ukai is honestly the greatest coach karasuno asked for. I would even go so far as to say that he's better than og ukai for that karasuno. They were still budding chicklings. Ukai's advice was so golden. It teared me up when he records all of their best moments and compiles it with banging music before the 'shit'orizawa match. His advice to kageyama when they fine tune their quick. And there are many moments. Oh and Ooooh. The hinata moment. When the coach tells him so subtly about how he could take care of his body during the painful camp. So beautiful. Haikyuu and it's characters. Love you Ukai Sensei. Arigato â¨
Nekomata sensei. God. The Senior Cat. The Goose of Nekoma. ( @blues-hair-clips hello hehe). Coach of the Best Defensive Team in the prefecture. There's this moment that I faintly remember. Not in detail but you can correct me please. But when kuro and kenma are babiiees, they go to a volleyball court. And nekomata is present here. He says something along the lines of Experience the joy of hitting the spike or something and then chase after that feeling. Maybe the second half of the sentence was not there but nekomata being nekomata quietly said that in his head. Love you Nekomata Sensei. Arigato â¨
(hehe young nekomata and ukai senseisss. Why are they so coool !!!!!!!!)
And Finally. Ukai Sensei. I wish I was one of his grandkids. So I can keep going on and on about how cool my granddad is. I love the rivalry between him and nekomata. I love it when words come out of his mouth and you're just like yachi. You sit up straight and listen lol. The wise crow who stayed until the time when Karasuno were called the flightless crows. I love that he got to experience the peak of Karasuno twice. The later being his blood. Coach Ukai. I'd love to be coached by you. Honestly it'd take a lot of discipline and hard work. But yes. I'd be a damn crow any day. Love you Ukai Sensei. Arigato â¨
(atleast this made it to the movie đ. They robbed us but thank you haikyu ily )

Netaro Yowa SR Card Story ăStep by Step, Brick by Brickă Track 1
Location: Pig Room
Toi: No wayâŚhow are they going to make it past thisâŚ
Netaro: Hmm? What do you have your eyes glued to there, Toi~?
Toi: Itâs a rerun episode of a drama that Iâve been following. Iâve been busy so I havenât had the chance to catch up on it until now.
Netaro: Oooh, a drama, you say! Iâll join you!
I barely have to lift a finger to study the human mind when I have dramas and movies to help me.
So tell me, what kind of show is this? A romance? A murder mystery perhaps?
Toi: Itâs about an ordinary girl who transfers to a wealthy high school and clashes against the 101 gorgeous guys in charge to fight for a place at the school's peak, all while she uncovers the mysteries surrounding Tokugawaâs buried treasureâ
It's a drama packed full of action, mystery and romance!
Netaro: It sounds to me like a mess filled with more tropes than you could ever needâŚ!
Toi: Itâs actually really well-made and entertaining.
You can even start watching part way through without it being too confusing. You should join me! The seat beside me is open, Netaro-san.
Netaro: Wahoo, Iâll get some rock candy for us to snack on âŞ
Toi: Youâre starting with a pretty heated episode. It looks like they're about to catch the culprit behind the canteenâs pudding robbery from the last ep.
Meanwhile, our sweet-toothed main character has been tricked by the mean rich girl at school into joining a spice endurance contest.
Netaro: Whyâre these guys slurping up dan dan noodles while theyâre busy trying to piece together the clues?Â
Toi: I think itâs âcause the show is sponsored by a Chinese restaurant?Â
To be honest, pointless filler like this might be one of the best parts of the show.
Yet in Nagi-kunâs opinion, he thinks the showâs quality starts nosediving sometimesâŚ
Netaro: Toi! Toi! Did you see that!? That guy just snuck caramel into his bowl while he was topping up his noodles! Thatâs gotta mean something, right!?
Toi: He doesnât have an alibi either. If he likes pudding then this could point to him being the culpritâŚ!
ăźBeep beep
Netaro: ??? Was that an alarm??
Toi: Ahâ sorry, I promised Chief that Iâd help out with some shopping.
I set an alarm since I had a hunch that Iâd get too caught up in the show and forget.
Netaro: You really have a hankering for jumping at the chance to help out with chores, huh?
Toi: Not exactly, I just want to do whatever I can to contribute as a resident of the HAMA HouseâŚ
Anyway, I have to get going now.
Netaro: Keep an eye out for any wandering aliens.
Netaro: (...Toi looked like he was dying to find out who the culprit was.)
âŚ
Ahaâ! I have a genius idea!

you wanna hear me talk about my favorite live action movie? of course you do here we go (0 notes)
just a quick nope infodump cuz i have nowhere else to dump my thought about this movie -- i put it under the cut cuz i know some people dont like horror or scary stuff, and some people are planning on watching it and dont want spoilers :]
first this is my thing of how i finally got to watching nope, it can be skipped, the actual infodump starts at the pink text
ok so first of all, nope had caught my attention when i first saw some trailers for it,, then i forgot about it until i saw some fanart for the gordy scene, and i thought it looked so good. so i looked in the comments and people kept talking about that scene. me, being curious, looked up the scene on youtube. and it scared me so bad.
later in the year (2022) i went to universal studios in a family trip. i really enjoyed it but the one part that was my favorite was the studio tour, i love animation and film and cinematography so it was right up my alley. but at the very end of the tour, we went to the new exhibition of it. Jupiter's Claim.
the very same jupiter's claim from the movie (not really just a recreation). they did a whole thing with the aliens and it freaked me out. very fun but i did not expect it so it was alarming to see a set piece from a movie i had little knowledge on and was scared of.
so i did what i usually do to keep my nerves down, started researching it. watching trailers, actor interviews, cinematography etc.
i wanted to see what the movie was about, so i looked it up and read the plot on wikipedia, it did get me less scared of it, but it also really peaked my interest.
when the synapsis described jean jacket's final form, i hadnt imagined it was so big. in my head i thought it was smaller than a person and that it looked like a jellyfish. i was only half right. then once again, i forgot about the movie entirely.
until almost a year later. when i saw a "everything great about" video on nope. i thought, well they usually cut up the movie, and talk through it, so itll basically be like watching the movie.
it was really interesting, so i decided to watch it. now onto my infodump thing im mostly going to be talking about the themes and stuff
HERES THE MOVIE PLOT WHICH I JUST PULLED FROM WIKIPEDIA CUZ I DONT WANT TO WRITE THE ENTIRE THING -- you can skip this if youve watched tho movie, or just skip it if you want idc
[In Agua Dulce, California, the Haywood family trains and handles horses for film productions. One day at the Haywood ranch, small metallic objects violently fall from the sky. One of these objects, a nickel, ends up killing Otis Haywood Sr.
Six months later, his children, Emerald "Em" Haywood and a depressed Otis "OJ" Haywood Jr., are fired from a set after their horse, Lucky, reacts violently to its own reflection in a chrome ball utilized for visual effects. To raise money, OJ has been selling some of the Haywood horses to Ricky "Jupe" Park, who operates a Western theme park called Jupiter's Claim. Jupe exploits his past traumatic experience as a child actor on the set of a family sitcom that costarred a chimpanzee named Gordy. During filming of an episode, Gordy reacted violently to the sound of popping balloons and attacked at least two of his human co-stars, but ultimately left Jupe completely unharmed, before being fatally shot by police.
One night, the Haywoods notice their electricity fluctuating and their horses violently reacting to an unknown presence. They discover an unidentified flying object (UFO) that has been taking their horses and spitting out the inorganic matter, which OJ concludes to have caused their father's death. The siblings decide to document and sell evidence of the UFO's existence, and recruit electronics store employee Angel Torres to set up surveillance cameras. The UFO arrives and abducts a horse as well as a plastic horse Em stole from Jupiter's Claim for use as a decoy.
The next day, Em attempts to recruit famed cinematographer Antlers Holst to help them record the UFO. Holst declines, telling Em that chasing wealth and fame is a "dream you will never wake up from." Angel then arrives and reveals that a cloud in the valley never moves; OJ suspects this is the UFO's hiding place before theorizing, based on the UFO's flight patterns, that it isn't a ship at all.
Jupe introduces a live show in Jupiter's Claim where he plans to use Lucky as bait to lure out the UFO. For months Jupe has been offering the UFO the Haywood's horses for shows. The UFO arrives earlier than expected and devours Jupe and everyone in attendance for the show (including his family and staff), ultimately leaving only Lucky alive. OJ, attempting to retrieve Lucky, confirms his theory that the UFO is actually a territorial, predatory organism. After the creature showers the Haywood household with the detritus and regurgitated remains of the Jupiterâs Claim crowd, OJ realizes that it only attacks those who look directly at it. He devises a plan to record it. Em and Angel are hesitant until Em receives a call from Holst, who now agrees to help. OJ names the organism "Jean Jacket", after a horse that Em as a child was promised to train.
To circumvent Jean Jacket's effect of shutting down all electronics nearby, Holst brings a hand-cranked IMAX film camera. The group plans to bait Jean Jacket with a field of electrically-powered tube man props to deduce its location in the sky. However, a TMZ paparazzo trespasses onto the field and is thrown from his electric motorcycle when it shuts down near Jean Jacket, which devours him. Though Holst captures footage of Jean Jacket, his obsession with "the impossible shot" results in him being devoured alongside his camera, forcing the remaining three to flee. Angel survives an attack from Jean Jacket by being wrapped in a tarp and barbed wire, causing the creature to unfurl into a new, larger form.
OJ intentionally looks directly at Jean Jacket, allowing Em to use the motorcycle to rush to Jupiter's Claim. There, she untethers the park's large helium balloon mascot of Jupe, the large eyes of which attract Jean Jacket's ire. Jean Jacket attempts to feed on the balloon while Em uses an attraction's analog camera to photograph Jean Jacket as it feeds. Its attempt to eat the perceived threat results in the balloon exploding, destroying Jean Jacket. With the picture as proof of the creature's existence and reporters arriving nearby, Em sees an unharmed OJ and Lucky standing outside of Jupiter's Claim.]
WOOO NOW ONTO MY THOUGHTS ON THE MOVIE
we know that 6 months before the events of the movie, oj and em's dad was killed from a nickel that came from the sky and hit him in the eye and went into his brain. in the beginning of that scene we hear a radio news broadcast about some missing hikers. SINCE LATER WE FIND OUT THAT JEAN JACKET SHOOTS OUT THE METAL THINGS HE CANT EAT THAT COIN HAD COME FROM THE HIKERS
ohoho jupe, he's such a well written character. he is so complex. he was traumatized as a child with the gordy incident. he was the only cast member (as far as we know) to come out completely unscathed,,, physically. ----- when oj is trying to set up a path of buying the horses back, jupe says "yeah yeah we can do that" (HE IS A LIAR). and while oj is talking to jupe about that, em interrupts asking about the gordy incident. -- JUPE'S REACTION IS SO INTERESTING, HE TAKES THEM INTO A ROOM WHICH IS DEDICATED TO THIS INCIDENT BUT HE DOESNT ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT THE INCIDENT, INSTEAD HE TALKS ABOUT THE SNL SKETCH!!! HE HAS TURNED HIS TRAUMA INTO ENTERTAINMENT!!! the way i saw it is that he subconciously thinks that entertainment is a purpose, and if he can turn that incident into something that can be consumed by others then what happened wasnt for nothing. what he went through wasnt just a pitiful event in his life. it was something to be consumed. it was a spectacle.
JUPE BELIEVED HE WAS SOME KIND OF CHOSEN ONE, first gordy didnt harm him (which was because of the tablecloth not their so called connection) SO HE THOUGHT HE ALSO HAD A CONNECTION WITH JEAN JACKET
in the opening scene we see the first assembly of photographs to create a motion picture, the jockey riding the horse is oj and em's great great great grandfather, AND IN COMPOSITION OF THE CLOSING SCENE, OJ IS FRAMED LIKE IT
aaauughh i just love that jean jacket was named after the horse that em was supposed to train, cuz it ended up being her who conquered and killed the alien in the end
I LOVE THAT ANGEL WAS JUST SOME RANDOM STORE EMPLOYEE WHO JUST DECIDED TO BE PART OF THE GANG, LIKE HE DIDNT KNOW THEM BEFOREHAND AND JUST DECIDED TO JOIN THEM ON THEIR SILLY LITTLE ADVENTURE
i feel like holst was a counterpart to jupe, cuz while jupe wanted to exploit jean jacket for money and clout, holst wanted to exploit jean jacket for his art,, and clout,,,, so they were both selfish but it does show that even when you dont exploit or take advantage something for money and just do it for art ITS STILL EXPLOITING
THE THING WITH THE TMZ GUY OUGH I LOVED THAT SCENE. OJ JUST TRIED TO HELP BUT THAT GUY WAS JUST FOCUSED ON GETTING THE CAMERA, AND THEN OJ'S EYES REFLECTED WHICH CAUSED JEAN JACKET TO NOTICE THEM OUUGHHHH
i love how jean jackets forms differentiate for the circumstances, when she's just the disk its just chillin, just feeding and leaving, but once all the stuff happens against it it starts to get more aggressive. so like most animals he makes themself appear bigger, making for a really good shots in the movie
THE PARALLELS BETWEEN GORDY AND JEAN JACKET ARE ALSO INTERESTING, BECAUSE JEAN JACKET ISNT THE VILLAIN, JUST THE ANTAGONIST,, JEAN JACKET IS AN ANIMAL WHO IS JUST EATING, GOING THROUGH THE NATURAL MOTIONS THAT COME WITH BEING ALIVE. AND SO WAS GORDY, GORDY WAS JUST REACTING TO THE SCARE THAT THE BALLOONS POPPING GAVE HIM
I NEED SOME AFTERMATH CONTENT NOWWW, LIKE WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE NEWS STATION? DID THEY CLEAN THE HOUSE? HOW DID EVERYONE COPE??? DID THEY GET THE FAME THEY WANTED!?? I NEED TO KNOW
ok ok so jupes made up aliens? the viewers? THEIR DESIGNS ARE ALSO ROOTED IN HIS TRAUMA,, THE HEADS LOOK LIKE THE CAMERAS USED IN THE FILMING OF THE SITCOM AND THE BODIES RESEMBLE THOSE OF A MONKEY
i would put a picture of gordy on here but it has blood and dont wanna have that here,,, so uhhh if you wanna see him just look up gordy nope
and now some shorter things i really liked
the day for night filming IS SO GOOD
the themes about spectacles and human nature
oj and em's relationship (the siblings ever)
JUPE'S WHOLE DEAL
LIKE HOLY CRAP HE LEAD ALL THOSE PEOPLE TO THEIR DEATH!???
the cinematography is just mmm chef's kiss
all the characters are just so genuine
,, yeah these are obviously not all my thoughts on this movie cuz i think about this movie a LOT,, but i didnt want to overload this thing

I've been thinking about it for a long time (a week) to finally write another TDWP fanfic.
Right cool.
Just this time it's multi chapter, with a full blown plot and everything, and kinda my au/canon divergence.
It's set 20 years after Andy's left Runway in Paris. She worked for the Mirror as a fashion reporter, then flew up in the ranks and became Co-Editor in Chief.
However, the sponsors withdrew and the Mirror ended up falling into bankruptcy, yada yada- five years later she's unemployed again.
Over that time at the Mirror, she came back into contact with her godmother (whole other backstory, might write about it after I finish this fic), Floriana who works at Style Queen (yes I added another fashion magazine, from the MLB universe tho) and she helps her get a job as a Fashion Reporter at The New York Times.
Again, flies up through the ranks- Fashion Editor, then Sr. Fashion Editor. Then heading more into the politics department, she finds herself being the head- they being offered the Editor In Chief job.
This all seems to happen rather quickly, but it actually takes the remaining 15 years and I won't be going over it much in the story but this is just some background character building.
Sounds a bit boring and uncharacteristically Andy right? Not really no. That work on the Janitors Union she did was, politics really. And it makes sense that after Runway, she wants to be into fashion more and more. Just to impress Miranda.
She's finally Editor In Chief, and gets an invitation to go to the Paris Fashion Week. And of course she has to go, I mean she was a fashion correspondent- no one can do it as well as she can.
Oh my god that sounded like something Miranda said in the movie.
Anyway- of course she then realises that she'll have to meet Miranda again. It's too late to leave now.
And that's when the story starts!
And as a sneak peak I'll tell you that it starts with Andy overthinking on a bridge over the Seine.
Oh and her hotel is opposite Miranda's!
Tell me if anyone's interested in this, I'll try dedicate every chapter to any fans.
#andy sachs#andy x miranda#miranda priestly#mirandy#writers on tumblr#writing#fanfic#fanfiction#the devil wears prada#this will take a while#i need someone to puch me to do thia cos this would be ao interesting but i need help to start this shit#i'm currently writing the first chapter and i'm nowhere near done#i'm gonna make a playlist for them#just cos#all i need is some support#pls#and updates will be slow because i am very much still in school and i'm overloaded with tests and quizzes ugh#help me someone

As asked by @voidsteffy, i am posting some memes i made for the movie ABCD (2013)
Look, I am OBSSESSED with that movie and hence, y'all shall suffer with me. Without further ado, here we go :
(spoilers ahead)
1. Poor Vishnu sir (played by Prabhu Deva).
(out of EVERY fucking one in the film, hes the only person with a braincell.)
2. This is what Vishnu sir does in the entire movie. In a nutshell.
(i honestly feel bad for him. These fuckers just drive him up the wall every second.)
3. Rocky and D, whenever they spot the other :
(the hate here is very mutual and very funny to watch. They would claw each other's face off at the drop of a hat đ
Peak clown behaviour đ)
4. We stan a man like this. Too bad hes a druggie and later d words in the movie đ
(look in my mind, Chandu never d worded, he just fell in a coma and woke up after finals and proposed Shaina and they lived happily ever after. Capiche? Capiche?! They are otp okay??)
5. Me @ Jahangir after he sexually harrasses Rhea (who thankfully escaped before anything went down) :
6. The first round of auditions for Dance Dil Se in a nutshell. Srs, the amount of second hand embarrassment and cringe i still feel after 11 years is astonishing!
(no prizes on guessing the 2 morons responsible for the dumpster fire disaster performance đ)
7. When the real reason of the years long feud between D and Rocky is revealed :
8. Rocky, his gang (and D) when Jahangir tries to bribe them before the finals :
{gotta love the way they blew him off and rubbed salt in his wound đ¤Ł}
9. The guys of DDR, when JDC stole their finale dance routine and Mayur, Rocky's bestie was the snitch.
10. Mayur, you lying, cheating, traitor bitch
(honestly, they had it coming đ¤ˇđťââď¸)
(i was disappointed when Jahangir stepped in personally to stop D from beating up Mayur. He deserved even more beating than the ones Rocky gave to him đ)
All righty! So this is what I have for y'all! Enjoy!!

240: Various Artists // The Golden Turkey Album: The Best Songs from the Worst Movies
The Golden Turkey Album: The Best Songs from the Worst Movies Various Artists 1985, Rhino
Early Rhino Records was a grand old place for musical perverts thanks to its steady stream of novelty compilations like the Dr. Demento albums and Teenage Tragedy, which collected â50s and â60s songs about kids dying in automobile accidents (there were a lot of those, it turns out). The Golden Turkey Album: The Best Songs from the Worst Movies is from square in the labelâs whacko prime and itâs exactly what it says on the label. These 16 tracks culled from trashy exploitation films like Eegah! (1962), Rat Pfink a Boo Boo (1964), and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) range from Confederate bluegrass to saloon music performed by a group of little people, though the majority are cornball rock ânâ roll numbers. On balance, itâs a highly listenable record, full of amateurish, nakedly trend-chasing but ultimately charming recordings that spark the same bewildered laughter as the films from which they derive.
As we march through the tracklist, remember at all times that I am sitting alone on the couch in my apartment wearing a frayed housecoat. Okay, letâs go.
Side One
Trevor Duncan â âGrip of the Lawâ
Side one opens, as indeed it must, with the blaring opening title theme from Ed Woodâs deathless groaner Plan Nine From Outer Space (1959). Duncan, an Englishman, was a prolific composer for film and television, but âGrip of the Lawâ wasnât written for Woodâs opus, which lacked the budget to commission an original score. Duncanâs piece rather was cribbed for the film by one of Woodâs collaboratorsâwhich explains why in contrast to everything else about the film, itâs a perfectly competent piece of bombastic orchestral horror/thriller music
The Five Blobs â âBeware of the Blobâ
1958âs Steve McQueen vehicle The Blob tracks the very, very slow slugtrail of destruction wrought by a ball of alien red Jell-O, and itâs probably fair to say it peaks with its opening credits and this incongruous âTequilaâ/cocktail music-esque number penned by a young Burt Bacharach and Mack David (the elder brother of Burt's future writing partner Hal David). It doesnât rise to the level of a good Esquivel! track, let alone Bacharachâs own later work, but itâs very dumb and goes on my Halloween playlist every year.
Arch Hall Jr. â âValerieâ
youtube
The first of three Arch Hall Jr. tracks on the compilation, which tells you the Rhino guys figured they had a little find on their hands. Hall Jr. was a genuinely talented singer and guitarist with an enormous dome who resembled Jesse Plemons (Todd Alquist from Breaking Bad) or perhaps a wax museum James Cagney. His father, filmmaker Arch Hall Sr., clearly hoped to turn the 16-year-old into an Elvis Presley-esque acting and singing double threat, and featured him in a series of screamingly bad early â60s B-movies. âValerieâ is a twinkling, whistling ballad drawn from 1962âs Eegah!, a film which sees the 7â2 Richard Kiel (later Jaws in the James Bond series) as a horny caveman who wants to rail a teenage girl named Roxie whom Hall Jr.âs character is dating. As someone who loves sock-hop dream music and throwing metaphors in a blender (âvitamins are good they say / and soâs a calorie / but I feel like a tiger / on one kiss from Valerieâ), I think this oneâs pretty great!
Carol Kay & the Stone Tones â âShook Out of Shapeâ
Coming in hot from The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies (1964), billed as âThe First Horror Movie Musical,â âShook Out of Shapeâ puts me in my mind of a Wanda Jackson or a Patsy Cline in a rock mood. Perfectly acceptable beach party music, though it has less of that wonderful offness about it than most anything else here.
Bobby and Benny Belew â âLonesomeâ
This is more like it. 12-year-old Texan twins sing close harmony rockabilly from 1957âs Rock, BabyâRock It! one of a million chintzy attempts to cash in on the rock ânâ roll craze that looks like it was shot for $10 (in todayâs money). The performances (which some kind soul has cut free of the filmâs narrative) by a string of never-were stars generally rip (check out Johnny Carroll, and also whoeverâs playing guitar for Preacher Smith & the Deacons, goddamn!), but the Belew Twins were definitely the right choice for this comp. Kids singing adult music basically always comes with the scent of some sweating, overambitious father clenching his fists in the wings. Delish.
The Pleasant Valley Boys â âRobert E. Lee Broke His Musket on His Kneeâ
youtube
From the seminal hicksploitation film Two Thousand Maniacs (1964), we have straight up and down rural car chase bluegrass concerning the eventual return of the South; the horrible shrieking of a crazed Robert E. Lee; and the sucking chest wounds of Stonewall Jackson. The slapping sound? Oh, donât mind me, Iâm just tapping away on the big vein in my arm.
Some adults and some kids â âWeâre the Lemon Grove Kidsâ
Described in the liner notes as a âgrating jingle,â this minute-or-so number served as the theme song for a series of Bowery Boys knock-off short films directed by Ray Dennis Steckler, who also gave us The Incredibly Strange Creatures and Rat Pfink a Boo Boo (see side 2 of this LP). Both grating and a jingle.
Arch Hall Jr. â âVickieâ
More Hall Jr., hailing like âValerieâ from Eegah!, also like âValerieâ sung to his characterâs girlfriend whose name is Roxie. The songs are similar, but this one is dweebier.
Side Two
Milton Delugg & the Little Eskimos â âHooray for Santa Clausâ
youtube
This review didn't need to be this long, but with band names like this, and movies like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) I donât see how I can stop. A thoroughly unbearable twist-style song sung by a chorus of children who pronounce it out S-A-N-T-A but say it âSanty.â
Arch Hill Jr. â âYes, I Willâ
Yet another one from Arch, this time from 1962âs Wild Guitar. âYes, I Willâ is kind of pubby rock, and itâs perfectly fine, but there are much better numbers from this oneâchalk me up as a âTwist Feverâ guy personally. Wild Guitar is very in the Elvis teen idol-movie modeâironically though the best performance of Hall Jr.âs short career would come the following year in Jamis Landisâs brutish The Sadist, in which Hall plays a psychopathic killer based on Charles Starkweather!
Johnnie Fern â âHey, Look Out! (I Want to Make Love to You)â
youtube
1938âs The Terror of Tiny Town is a Western with a cast entirely composed of little people. It will not shock you to learn the movie did not originate from an urge to improve representation of little people in film, but rather from a joke producer Jed Buell overheard. According to the liners the song is sung by someone named Johnnie Fern, but in the film itâs presented as the voice of Nita Krebs, a dancehall girl doing a kind of Marlene Dietrich femme fatale shtick. Itâs a treacly Vaudeville-ish ballad sung in a very, very high pitch, and I love it. Sending this one out to my girlfriend, to whom I am hornily disposed and who also is quite short.
Dr. Frederick Kopp â âThe Dance Hall Twistâ
Yet another twist number (from 1964âs monster flick The Creeping Terror). Not much to say about it, likely included here because it immediately precedes this unforgettable sequence:
youtube
Dr. Frederick Kopp â âShe Left Me Lonelyâ
A vaguely Latin-flavoured country ballad from the same film featuring the indelible chorus, âshe left me lonely / she left me sad / but still I am happy / in fact I am glad,â the liner notes quote the classically trained Dr. "Not a" Kopp as âfeeling dirtyâ to have written the song, which apparently took him 15 minutes or so.
Harold "Duke" Lloyd with Page Cavanaugh and His Trio â âSpecial Dateâ
Before kicking off this number from 1958âs Frankensteinâs Daughter, the Duke sends âSpecial Dateâ out to anyone in the audience on a special date, which is like dedicating a song called âHaving Sexâ to anyone currently having sex or âEating Foodâ to anyone actively eating food.
Ron Haydock & the Boppers â âRat Pfinkâ
Ray Dennis Stecklerâs Rat Pfink a Boo Boo (1966) is a straight crime movie for the first 40 minutes before abruptly becoming a parody of the Batman television series and ending with a rockabilly barbecue party. Sung by Ron Haydock, who plays the titular Batman knockoff, the Gene Vincent-y âRat Pfinkâ is damned solid stuff.

Alrighty, part 3 of the list. These are numbers 80-71, if you've been keeping track.
Link to part 1. Link to part 2. Link to part 4. Link to part 5. Link to part 6. Link to part 7. Link to part 8. Link to part 9. Link to part 10.
80. Command & Conquer Remastered Collection
Command & Conquer's remaster was a breath of fresh air, bringing in new players to both the original Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert, which are some of the highest rated strategy games ever made. The remaster just makes it easier to play, and you can choose to go back to the older graphics too. Just really good all around.
79. SimCity 2000 Special Edition
Ah, the good old SimCity franchise, back when always-online didn't exist. I'm putting 2000 here because it takes the original formula, adds a water system and specialty buildings like schools and hospitals, more disasters, a better way of doing a budget, and adds bonds/loans for the first time. A great game, with a great Let's Play. I still call the Transit Advisor âJimâ because of it.
78. Yakuza 0
Ah, Yakuza 0. My first playing of this great series. I find myself distracted by the side stories, easily. Kiryu is an interesting character and sympathetic, never breaking his âno killingâ rule (if you play him like I do, anyway). Majima is just as endearing and he's given a great backstory in this game. I still need to play the other ones, but this is a strong game to start the series with.
77. Puzzle Agent
A cross between Twin Peaks and a puzzle game? Yes, please! You have to solve a mystery of a missing foreman, and have to solve all types of puzzles to get to the bottom of it. It doesn't really get solved until Puzzle Agent 2, but Puzzle Agent 1 is slightly better, so that's why it's on the list.
76. Another World
Also known as âOut of this Worldâ because of a soap opera of the same name, this cinematic platformer is highly regarded as one of the best. Using a checkpoint system, it's very much trial and error, trying to make sure you don't die. Or your buddy, uh... Buddy.
75. Sid Meier's Civilization IV
Civ IV is my favorite of the Civ games, simply because it was easy to get into. Its expansions are great too. It's great trying to get to Alpha Centauri, and the addition of Leonard Nimoy voicing the technologies is fantastic. It's the last of the âsquare-gridâ Civ games too, all later mainline ones were hexagonal, I believe.
74. Fibbage 4
This is probably the newest game on my list, but I love Fibbage, and this version of it is what I consider the best, what with its differing question types, fan questions, and a great visual style.
73. Evil Genius 2
I'm putting Evil Genius 2 a little lower than the original, but it's still a great base building game that expands its predecessor, with four (later five) evil geniuses to choose from. It also has multiple bases, so you can conquer the world from wherever. Also, the steady flow of your minions is better put together here. It's just a little lower because no Alexis.
72. Scarface: The World is Yours
Ah, Scarface. One of my favorite movies gets a âquasi-sequelâ because this game starts with the classic shootout at the end of the movie (and you will die if you don't turn around and kill The Skull) and is about Tony rebuilding his empire and getting revenge on Sosa. The voice cast is fantastic and the music is kicking. See if you can find the PC version, there's a great fan-made patch for it.
71. Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Pirate's Curse is heavily regarded to be the best of the Shantae games, and I have to agree. The pirate gear adds a lot to Shantae's normal skill set, along with being a different style of play since it doesn't have any genie powers, unlike the other Shantae games. It's still a fun time.
Part 4 should be tomorrow! :D

Holy hell, I am so glad to finally be finishing Pearl.
Obviously, the lead up to the final gym is when most of the games interrupt with their respective legendary/villain storylines, so I figured I'd stop fighting the terrible encounter tables Sinnoh has to offer and SR for Palkia in the home stretch. Might as well go out with a bang. And it's still only the second SR hunt I've ever done, to be honest. I mean, I didn't really want Palkia that badly, but it felt fitting. When else am I ever gonna bother doing this hunt than on Pearl?
I didn't put much time into it right away, with the entire thing once again more of an accessory to times I felt like throwing on a show or movie rather than something I'd specifically decide to do. That changed around February or March, when I felt it was high time I close out this Badge Quest so I didn't have to feel it hanging over my head all the time. I want to move on to other hunts.
Didn't end up over odds either, with 7568 recorded SRs, and thankfully pretty quick ones. Only about 20 seconds each at peak efficiency. Probably faster than random encounters in some games, lol. And as SRs don't involve much walking around, Happiny has ended this phase at level 83 off travel around the region and up Mount Coronet.
Overall, it's crazy looking back over the momentum this Badge Quest had in the start, with the first four hunts taking under 3 months combined, and the back four taking over 6 months each.
Would you believe me if I said I already want to do another one? Okay, maybe not right away, but since beginning this arduous journey back in 2021 I've filled in the rest of the gaps in my DS Pokemon collection with JP copies, and SoulSilver is looking like it could be pretty fun...

Oh man I love horror as well! Is there a horror movie that scares you even though it's not THAT scary? For me it's the Fourth Kind bc I'm scared of being abducted by aliens lol. When it came out I thought it was real too đ I just saw Skinamarink tho and that was really good. Very unsettling. I recommend it if you can find it online! -SRS
I hadnât heard of either of those and immediately went and added them to my watchlist. Those look right up my alley. I love aliens lol
The Stepford Wives (1975) is one of my favorite movies and absolutely terrifies me. Not in the traditional sense of âthis monster is scaryâ but in a âthis man doesnât care about his wife :( â way. I love the characters so much. Absolutely recommend the movie and the book! Talk about peak amazing 70s fashions.Â
