Birthday!

Hey guys!  As of roughly 8:30 am this morning, I turned 32!  Huzzah!

It’s been a rough week, so I’ve definitely been bouncing back and forth between YAY and AUGH a lot, and I really wanted to say thank you guys for being so amazing and supportive.  You are all amazing and I love you so much.

I’ll be chilling online, idling at the poly squad’s house while I work on comm stuff and keep an eye on my cat during her recovery.  If you happen to be on Mateus for the day and you happen to see me online, feel free to shoot me a /tell and say hi!

Matter of Fact

Sertorius adjusted the new pair of goggles he'd just been given, so that they sat comfortably on his face. Today would be their first test - if they couldn't block out a reasonable amount of aether to keep him from being blinded or sickened by it, then P'shali would need to make adjustments. It'd been a while since he owned an accessory that fit over his third eye, and he'd need to get used to its presence all over again.

"How do they feel?" P'shali asks, expectantly waiting for his assessment.

"Good, so far," Sertorius replies. "They don't itch or impede my third eye. You've done a good job."

The Seeker smiles proudly and turns to get started on their current project. Today's item being dismantled was another garish piece of equipment that Jacques salvaged from one of his trips into Garlean territory: a mechanical steel arm that he'd ripped out of the wall with a sinister, gigantic needle attached to the end. P'shali readies their makeshift torch, powered by aether, and lights it. There's still a flash visible, but thankfully, the aether isn't blinding to Sertorius with the goggles on. Finally, they can work without having to worry about sourcing a complicated piece of magitek.

"What was this used for, anyway…?" P'shali asks, once the welded parts have been severed. Sertorius points to the needle at the end, speaking frankly.

"There was a chamber attached to this needle. Somewhat like a hypodermic syringe. Ceruleum or other substances would be injected into larger test subjects using this arm. Typically while restrained, to keep the subject from damaging equipment or hurting themselves." He looks down after his explanation to find P'shali's face has paled, and he wears an odd expression.

"I… I see." P'shali grimaces at that, and Sertorius realizes that he may have been a bit too explicit with the description.

Well, it had been his own fault when it came to the injuries he had sustained this time... but it had been more than worth it. Unlike the previous time where he wasn't prepared this time he had been... in fact, he had been more than prepared. Of course, at the end of the day he still had only so much stamina and with a deciding blow from his prey the bastard had managed to flee before he could deliver his own finishing blow and claim the remaining Aether that he wanted.

And now he was paying the price for such a thing... trapped in Sebha'to's room and practically being babied by the Keeper and his companion, P'shali. Every moment of them babying him was another moment that the bastard would be using to recover, he'd be fine god damn it. A growl would escape the voidal serpent as he tried to push one of the Keepers hands away "Stop... I'll be fine and you know it Bha'to." he hissed, gritting his teeth... yeah he'd be fine, it was just going to take a bit of time for him to recover and stop bleeding out over poor Sebha'to's bed. At least this time he wasn't completely wrecked as a result of his fight.

@cadrenebula - I am SO sorry that this took me ages to get to! So much happened and I ended up losing a lot of drive but here we go! A bit of a snippet for the aftermath of a future story that I am PRAYING to get the motivation to fully write (I suck when it comes to fighting/combat scenes). Also giving a little shoutout and nudge to @skyysinger and @talechaser-ffxiv for mentions of Sebha’to and P’shali :3

• Idle Banter: “You seem like a pretty intense guy, but you heal well. Trust me though, P’shali...If you go at it with a more level head, everything will be fine. Don’t shoulder it all yourself...Lean on us a little.”

• Witnessing P’shali KO: “I told you to be careful! P’shali! Damn...” • Reviving P’shali: “Alright, up we go. See, that’s what I was talking about.” • Finishing Dungeon: “You have a good heart, P’shali. If you ever need a helping hand...let me know.”

Arthur would see a lot of himself in P’shali and be extra careful during the dungeon, to show him the value of caution and calm. He would only pull middling pulls, or small pulls, unless someone else pulled ahead of him.

How long?

How long had it been since he’d felt something other than pain?  Loneliness?  Hate?

So often he’d tried to tell himself that he felt nothing.  Tried to convince himself that words were wind and emotions worth even less.  For so long... he even began to believe it.

And yet...

The weight of a weary head in his lap, the warmth of flesh and fur against his skin, the scent of comfort and familiarity that he’d come to know... it caused a stirring in his chest, where his heart used to be.

There was no pain.  There was no hate.  And he was not alone.

What was it?

As Toshinaku watched his weary companion sleep, he couldn’t help the smile that crossed his lips.  Perhaps, he thought... he wasn’t as heartless as he’d tried to believe.

Perhaps this was the start of something new.  Something better.

Perhaps...

P’shali has unknowingly started bringing another into the Poly Squad.  They started as friends, then more began to come of it.  Toshi naturally doesn’t know what to make of it, while Shali is content to just see where it goes.

OC Spotlight: P’shali Talechaser

Name: P’shali Talechaser Occupation: Artisan / Craftsman

Age: 22 Height: 5′0″ Gender / Orientation: Male / Pan Race: Miqo’te (Seeker of the Sun) Nameday: 21st Sun of the 6th Umbral Moon Patron Deity / Guardian:  Nald’thal, the Traders Place of birth / Residence: La Noscea / Mist

P’shali was born to an offshoot of the P tribe, located in La Noscea.  He was born the firstborn child of P’mehsah Nunh, the first of a decent number of siblings to grace the tribe.  Due to a number of issues, P’shali was a bit of a troublemaker in his youth--these issues led to his eventual exile, though his exile was self-imposed out of spite towards his family for daring to consider kicking him out.  Unfortunately, this exile occurred just before the Seventh Umbral Calamity, and with the changing aether leaving him unable to properly function, P’shali was left with the trauma of surviving the calamity alone, though by some mercy of the gods, he did survive.

With another chance at life, P’shali’s journeys took him to Limsa Lominsa, and then to Ul’dah. The crude survival skills he had learned in the wild served him well as a basis to learn the many different crafts available at the city-states’ guilds, and after years upon years of hard work and intense study, he began to make a name for himself as an artisan.  His current dream is to open a clothing store that is a safe haven for people that struggle with gender identity, inspired by his partners and his own recent experiences with self-discovery.  He spends most of his time at home with his partners--Jacques Cresent, Swath Lodestone, Sebha’to Bajhiri, and Toshinaku Bajhiri--and taking care of their children--Suigetsu, Jinh, and Linh.

I’ve posted a version of this shot before, but I wanted to share it again.  P’shali’s gotten over a lot of his gender-related hangups and is getting to be more bold about breaking free of his old mindset since figuring out he’s nb.  I’m proud of him, he’s grown so much.

He’s hoping to open a clothing shop someday so he can help more people feel more aligned with how they’re supposed to be.

Shali spending time with Suigetsu.  The two seem to bond over food a lot!  Suigetsu likes that his papa can make food he’s familiar with from his homeland, and Shali likes to cook food that his son loves.

Hey there!  Been a while.  Here’s some shots of this nerd.

Gonna try to post more (I keep saying that, I know, I’ve never been good at social media stuff), mostly gotta sort out my dang screenshots, I’ve been in and out of the game for the past few months.  Lots of developments with the poly squad, as well as some of my characters getting more attention and others getting revamped altogether.  It’s gonna be a fun time.  I hope.
