The mini golf course looked like a neon explosion had hit it. Atlas had a hard time focusing at the bright colors under the sun, thinking Irza must be crazy to pick this place. “I was awful at this when I was twelve,” he said, taking the purple club. “Still am, probably.” His first shot went way off track. “Just warming up,” he said with a laugh, knowing how dumb that sounded. “OK, check this out,” he said, lining up his next shot. The ball rolled perfectly around the windmill and stopped right by the hole. He looked at Irza with a smug smile. “Try to top that one.”

Tahiry dropped into the comfy chair in front of Irza's desk. She felt totally done with everything. Like, the kind of done where your brain just wants to shut off and go to sleep for a year. "I need a vacation. A real one … not those fake ones where you check your email every five minutes," she said. The stack of papers on his desk made her want to scream into a pillow. Work was seriously crushing her soul today. "Have you ever wanted to just throw everything in the air and run away to a desert island?" She wondered if someone as perfect as him ever felt like their life was a hot mess express. He could also dream about escaping to some beach somewhere, drinking coconut water and pretending responsibilities didn't exist.

Zuri walked into the office, still looking at her phone, trying to figure out where she was. Looking up to find him at his desk, her face turned red like a stop light. "Oh my gosh, I totally did not mean to crash in here," she said, taking small steps backward. "This place is like a maze and ... so this is super random, but any chance you could point me in the right direction? I've been going in circles forever trying to find this room." She let out a small laugh that sounded more like a nervous squeak, mentally crossing her fingers that he wouldn't think she was a total mess.

She wasn’t all that worried about his safety. Where unlike some of the others, presumably their current Mayor still had his own security protocol. And hopefully, given the string of tragedies surrounding those who held this office as of late, that security protocol was on high alert. So her purpose for seeing him was different. Rapping on the treated glass of the door, she opened it after being invited in. She had never had to interact with Mayor Ozer in the past. She’d seen him give speeches about what he hoped to achieve for the town and knew that her salary was dependent on his view of cops. “Do you prefer a salute or a curtsy,” she asked with a straight face, her dry humor hardly the best way to start off what was meant to be a serious conversation.
