very very small spoilers for oxenfree: lost signals ahead !!
the thing that absolutely broke me with the soundtrack is that in one of the scenes with rex, the song playing is called found. the main motif through the soundtracks of both oxenfree and lost signals comes from the track lost. what’s interesting to me is how this is tied to family so closely; i mean seriously, jonas and his mom with lost. and now, rex and riley with found. and i just think that’s really cool and awesome and the developers and scntfc (the person who made the music) are super clever and have such good attention to detail

genuinely shocked that only 26% of players sacrificed riley , kind of insane that that many people sacrificed olivia instead

I just finished Oxenfree II
I need two weeks to process every story beat I need to replay it right now I need a month to absorb everything I need to play the first one and the second back to back I need to put it away and think about something else I need to think about it every minute for the next foreseeable future

Oxenfree 2 spoilers
I think there’s something to say about how while Riley isn’t trapped in a loop she’s stuck in a cycle with her and her family

I just finished playing Oxenfree II.
I would say that overall it was a good game. It was more polished and longer than the first one. I thought the use of walkie talkies and time travel were interesting, especially when time travel was used to get past an obstacle.
However, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did the first game. It was missing the horror and weirdness of the first one, and I have no desire to replay it, unlike the first, which I played about four times in a row and then just recently replayed a few more times. In the first one I really enjoyed scanning through all the radio channels to hear the weird broadcasts, and I realize that since we’re not on Edward’s Island in the second game that it would make sense to have actual radio stations instead of weird looping broadcasts.
Also, when I replayed the first game recently, there were new broadcasts at some points, or at least I didn’t notice them the first few times I played it. I was hoping that they would tie into the second game or something, but they didn’t.
I don’t know, Lost Signals wasn’t a bad game, and I’m glad we got some closure with the characters. Honestly, I just figured that Alex and her friends would be trapped forever and that that was what happened with Riley, Jacob, and the kids too. I liked the horror at the end of the first game when you realize that they’re stuck no matter what they do.
I also found the reframing of the events by Parentage and Olivia to be interesting. Like they added all of this spiritual stuff to it that didn’t actually matter, and Olivia, having been raised by this cult, thought she knew the most about what was happening, when she really didn’t. Honestly, the messages the game tried to convey were almost too obvious. Like too much time was spent on them at the expense of the atmosphere that made the first game so good. Also Jacob talked way too much. I get that it’s part of his character, but it got annoying after a while. Since there wasn’t as much happening as in the first game when they were traveling to different destinations, it’s like he had to fill in those long chunks of empty time by talking.
Anyway, Lost Signals is still a good game. It’s worth playing at least once, but there’s a shift in the tone and atmosphere that made it not as memorable as the first Oxenfree game.

echoes stuck in time
when alex appeared on the boat–after riley leaves jacob behind–saying you shouldn't have to go alone, i was kicking my feet. but when jonas appeared saying "can i have like two real quick minutes with alex for a second?" at the dock, i was balling.
so what if we are forced to walk all the way to the beach, watching the beginning parts of oxenfree play out instead of only seeing jonas's segment before being glitched to the beach?
[ID: A predominantly black, white, and red comic of Riley seeing momentarily glimpses of the original Oxenfree kids on Edward's Island.
The first page has the background of a rundown Edwards Island sign and other miscellaneous objects that fade further down the page.
The first panel is of Riley–on the left–on her walkie-talking looking in confusion at a ghostly image of Jonas passing by to the right, saying, "Can I have two real quick minutes with Alex for a second?" (his words are italicized).
The second panel is of Riley pushing a large garbage bin to the right as a ghostly Ren argues, "I just... If you are thinking of leaving, I just hope you're doing it for the right reasons" (his words are italicized).
The third panel has Riley, far in the background, climbing down a cliff and staring at the ghostly images of a laughing Clarissa and a speaking Nona that are engaged in conversation: Clarissa's loud laughter is interjected with Nona's "Oh God." Clarissa follows up asking, "Wait. Have I told you about Brad's Car?" to which Nona exclaims, "What? No?! What happened" (their entire conversation is italicized).
The second page is completely white with a speech bubble in black saying, "Those people... They're your friends?" said by Riley, off-screen.
A back profile of a ghostly Alex with her head turned to the right. Two red text box say, "Kind of. Yes and no."
The third panel shows a side view of Riley to the left. Two red text box: "They– sighs."
The last panel has a zoomed out back-view of Alex on the left and RIley on the right with her putting a hand on Alex's ghostly shoulder. A red square text box saying: "It's hard to explain." End ID]
