Cindy Joseph was such an inspiring woman & entrepreneur. Her message was that women don’t have to look younger to be beautiful. We are beautiful at every age!
I use to love watching her Youtube videos & following her modeling career, which began when she was unexpectedly “discovered” just before her 50th birthday. She was a makeup artist at the time & eventually parlayed that expertise into her own “pro-age” beauty brand BOOM.
She also made a radiant 60-something bride... giving all us midlife single ladies hope that we can have another shot at happily ever after + plenty of Pinterest board inspiration.
I was sad to learn that she passed away last summer. Margaret Manning of Sixty And Me mentioned it in a recent interview with Valerie Ramsey...  https://youtu.be/gv9mAN5gDPw
And- after a quick Google search to confirm the news, I was disappointed to find that Margaret was not mistaken.
Here’s a brief story in the New York Times about Cindy’s life & passing : https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/25/obituaries/cindy-joseph-a-model-who-embraced-her-age-is-dead-at-67.html
We never know how long we get here in this life, so it’s important to make the most of each day.
Cindy Joseph used her life to make other women feel good in their own skin, and that is a lovely legacy to leave behind.
Here she is delivering her TED Talk in 2014. It was called The Pro-Age Revolution : https://youtu.be/dB1wUS1DshI

As promised I have another great product to share! If you’ve ever been hesitant about using a night oil on your skin make sure you read all about this one - because it’s not like the rest! This Pili Ani Night Recovery Oil does its job while I sleep! I wake to skin that feels soothed, nourished, and rejuvenated and that is no small task with this New York winter we’ve been experiencing! All you need to do is simply dispense a few drops onto your fingertips and massage onto your face neck and décolletage. Please, younger girls! Do not forget your neck and décolleté. When you’re young you don’t realize these are the first places that show signs of age and if you take care of them from early on you will be thanking me later on! This oil comes in a really beautiful glass bottle , has an amazing light lavender like scent that gives you a spa like feeling, ( oh how I miss the spa!) absorbs quickly into the skin and never leaves you feeling sticky or greasy. Believe me, if it did there’s no way I would use it! Also, I used to think oils would stain my pillowcase and it’s just not the case at all. It sinks right into skin and never leaves any residue. You may have never heard of pili and elemi oils but the brand tells us they are one of the best kept beauty secrets. Good to know now! I have been using it for a few weeks and I am seeing visible results! My skin has a brighter and smoother look overall. Here are some of the amazing ingredients it is Infused with … squalane, arnica montana flower extract, evening primrose, Philippine jasmine extract, English lavender, rosemary leaf oil, and blue chamomile. All are used to calm & soothe dry and irritated skin overnight! How are we representing ourselves on soical media, and how is that making other people feel?
“Ever since I was small, I knew that clothes could help you convey who were- but I knew even more- that they could convey who you might want to be.” -Lyn Slater, 65, Accidental Icon

ROXANNE GOULD, 60, has one of the most inspiring Instagram accounts when it comes to rocking that midlife magick : https://www.instagram.com/roxmod/
Her advice...
“Accept yourself as you are. When you do, it washes over you and people feel it—it shifts your energy. It all starts with loving yourself and having fun. If you want to be expressive with your hair or makeup, do it. But start with the inside. You create what you think.“

This photo is a recent post from Sarah Jane Adams’ Instagram account.
I just love the attitude & those top knot pigtails! Pure sass.
Here too are a few choice quotes from an interview she did with Marie Claire last December :
- “Only by knowing who you truly are, and by owning that, will you find the power to make your mark. Keep focused, keep resolute, be your own judge and constantly re-assess your goals, motives and behaviour.”
- “My wrinkles do not scare me; they show me and therefore my experience. I see them as a badge of honour and a mark of roads travelled – why would I not be proud of them?”
- “As a 62-year-old woman, who I guess would be considered to be ‘self-made’, I realise that most importantly we all have to make time to really get to know ourselves and understand who we are. Only then can we be truly strong and effective in this world.”

ANGELA BASSETT turns 60 yrs old today! Yay! The 60s are smokin’...
Here’s what she had to say to Net-A-Porter this summer about being 59 & the public’s enduring obsession with her youthfulness :
“I guess it’s a high-class problem to have. But you don’t really know what to say when someone says: ‘Oh my God, you look so good.’ What do they expect? For you to be completely broken down?”
THANKS to role models like Bassett (& Sharon Stone & Michelle Pfeiffer- who are also entering into their 60s this year)... we are now starting to expect something refreshingly different from what previous generations of women were told about being “over the hill”.
What hill?
There is no hill.
There is only a ripening of the goodness we’ve nurtured over the years...
