Hi friends!! I know I haven't been posting as much lately, and that's because I've been working on a project!! That project is finally completed now :}

Dragon scale jumper!!!! 🐉🌱⭐️

It looks a little wonky up-close, but I'm very happy with the results!! This was a prototype done with an old grey jumper and a dragon-scale patterned pillow I got on clearance. Now that I sort of know what I'm doing, my goal is to make a green version that fits me better :}

I very much recommend this for all beasties with scales!! It's a really easy project even if you dont have a sewing machine, and it looks great even if you mess up a bit

I generally encourage everyone to recycle and therians are no exception.

It is a beautiful experience to make something new out of what you already have. Cardboard, cans, soda tabs, plastic, boring and/or damaged clothes.

General tip: You can mix laundry softener and acrylic paint to make fabric paint. It may fade over several washes, but the paint keeps very well if placed in a container in the fridge.

I am starting a youtube channel called UrsaCanid where I will be giving tutorials on some of this list as well as video essays about therianthropy and hopefully therian interviews down the line.

Here are some ideas for ways to create joy out of junk:

1. Masks. Thin cadboard like from cereal boxes are perfect for masks and BirdyDogs has youtube tutorial on both feline and canine cardboard masks.

2. T-shirt yarn tails. Look up how to make t-shirt yarn and keep the strad thin. Then follow the typical yarn tail instructions minus brushing it out.

3. Claws. This can be made of either just cardboard or cardboard and metal from a soda can. Either method uses a good bit of hot glue. It is difficult to explain over text, but generally you make a ring out of cardboard for each of your fingers (marking which one is which) then you form the claw with your chosen other material. You then apply it and build it up with hotglue. Fingernail polish works really well for coloring them afterward. I will have a tutorial for this up soon.

4. Make your own kin plush out of t-shirt material and put something important or meaningful inside like at build a bear. You can then paint it or sew on buttons or random trinkets.

5. Paint. Your. Clothes.

6. Collect tiny junk like soda tabs, bread clasps, bottle caps, etc and make jewlery or a sensory jar. This is a particularly scavenger aimed activity.

7. Put packaging that has your theriotype on it up as wall decorations. If it's plastic, sew it onto stuff like a patch.

8. Be resourceful. Nothing, and i mean NOTHING, has only one purpose.

Honestly I love how simple and or complex Gear can be.

Like perhaps a tail or wings or a mask?

Maybe it’s just a vest and some jewelry?

Or even just how I do my make up or wear my clothes!?

Today I have on both of my Dragon Necklaces, my wolf bracelet and for spiritual reasons I’m wearing a red bandanna on my head.

Im making a big ass thing on notion

Basically, it is a giant catalog of therian and otherkin gear.

From ears and tails, to collars, to wings, to horns, to fins, to clothes, all of it. (Everything I could find at least.)

I have it separated by therian/otherkin, canine/cat/aquatic ect and devinekin/demonkin/darkkin ect.

Then, it's by type. Wild cat/domestic cat/other. Wolf/domestic /other. Ect.

Then it's by exact species. Timber wolf/snow wolf/coastal wolf. Stuff like that. For absolutely everything.

I'm trying to get as many kins as possible so everyone can use this, so please, comment your kin so I can make sure it's there. (Especially if it's a rare one!!)

ill add links and pictures, make sure they are not from harmful fur farms, make sure the quality is good, all of that stuff.

But yeah. I'm super excited for when it's done tbh, and I hope a lot of people see this. (Please reblog :'))

Okay I'll stop talking in caps now, but here you have my tail guide for any and all people who just want a tail!

Cruel fur farms treat their animals badly, and it's best to avoid them. Here are some tips on how to spot cruel farms from the ethically sourced ones! (Most tips from here!)

Disclaimer: I would only be wary of items if they show more than 2 of these signs. Just do research before you buy!

Signs that indicate a cruel source:

- Sold/Sourced from Asia (Asia has bad animal cruelty laws, here's a list per country on how good their animal rights are)

- From Wish, AliExpress, Amazon, Temu or EBay (Even the 'faux fur' ones can be real and cruel)

- If they use stock photos

- Asian lobster clams (This does not always indicate cruelty)

- If they look thin, small, and generally unhealthy

- Any usage of 'mink farms' in desc.

- If they are bleached or colored

- If the price is low (Under 20-25)

- No info about source (Always ask the seller if you're not sure)

Signs that indicate ethical source:

- Scraps that were being thrown away otherwise (Should be in item description or FAQ)

- Lived long and happy lives (Item description or FAQ)

- Thick, healthy tails

- Population control/Legal hunters (With a permit)

Some ideas for some sneaky otherkin gear, I suppose?

So, multiple eyes first! Glasses with more than two lenses and eye themed jewelry!

And wings!! Wing themed glasses and puffy/flared sleeves!!

I know it's only two things, but when I come up with more ideas, I'll reblog this with the updates or something, lol! Hopes this helps!!

You don't have to wait for a special occasion, you don't have to have a reason.

If people give you a funny look, they are attempting social control on you. You do not have to let them control you. You are in control.

The ratio is in your favour. You most likely will get at least 3 smiles for every weird look. People love to see you being yourself, they love when you bring the fantastical into their world. They may feel empowered to make their own brave choices about their own presentation.

I have a tail I love to wear to my local sped adulting program!! Doesn't look exactly like mine but it's still very euphoric

Everyone there is supportive!!! Even one of the mentors refer to me as a dragon! It's awesome!

See, if I were to be wearing it just last year at my highschool, I would've been physically assaulted and barked at. Happened every single time I wore a tail. Yes, including the assault. Which made me very scared to express myself

Even now, I don't wear it in the morning when I have to walk through a crowd of highschoolers. I put it on when I know I'm in a safe space
