Medical conditions like obesity, rheumatologic disease and diabetes are usually the risk factors for PJI.
Morbid obesity: Obesity is one of the major risk concern which may lead to many other diseases like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes etc. obese patients have more chances of undergoing Joint arthroplasty. They also have an increased risk of PJI
Malnutrition: Malnutrition can alone increase the risk of PJI in patients who have undergone Joint arthroplasty. Age, obesity etc. can also contribute to the poor nutritional state of the patients
Hyperglycemia and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus: Diabetes is one of the most common disorders persisting in the world.
