How To Handle Different Dental Emergencies in Sydney
Sudden Toothache
The first step is to ensure nothing is stuck between your teeth. So rinse your mouth with lukewarm water. Next, try removing the stuck particles with floss, if any. Finally, if the swelling doesn't recede, try placing a cold compress outside your mouth.
You can visit your nearest Pharmacist for any OTC (Over-the-Counter) Medicine for pain relief. If the pain persists, it’s time to visit Miranda Dental Care.
Knocked-out tooth
This situation often arises due to an accident or sudden trauma. It will be painful, but you need to keep calm. Find your natural tooth & rinse it with your saliva if its got dirt. Try to put the tooth in the socket. And if you can't, keep it wet by putting it into milk or saliva (DO NOT USE WATER).
Once done, get in touch with the dentist immediately for an emergency appointment. The more time you waste, the less are the chances of saving your natural tooth.
Cracked or Chipped Tooth
Clean your mouth with lukewarm water. Place an icepack to reduce the swelling in your mouth. Just like a knocked-out tooth, time is of great importance.
Call the dentist for an emergency appointment & rush to the clinic.
Lost Crown/Filling
This often results because of the loosening of the crown due to the underlying cavity. As the lost crown or filling exposes the sensitive part of your tooth, it's extremely painful. So the moment you feel you have lost your crown/filling, call the dentist for an emergency appointment.

Just musing, but . . it seems like a pretty big scam that braces don't actually straighten teeth. Or, more accurately, braces straighten teeth, but after they are removed the patient needs permanent, life-long correction to KEEP them straight.
I had a serious overbite as a child, absolute squirrel teeth, and had braces between the ages of 10 and 13. When I got them off, I was surprised that the orthodontist told me I had to wear a retainer every night for the rest of my life. I know I was pretty young, and probably wasn't told everything, but that didn't seem to match my expectation going into the process. So. Retainer. I wore it more-or-less regularly until I was in my mid-thirties. TWENTY YEARS! At which point it mysteriously vanished from my nightstand. I had a toddler, and best guess is that he tossed it into a nearby trashcan because he was having a put-things-in-trashcans-phase. At that point I just said "the heck with it" and carried on with life.
Anyhoo. My daughter had braces. Fortunately, not a severe overbite like mine, but her top canines came in at an angle and overlapping the second incisors. Because the correction was a minor one, her teeth actually looked perfect after only a couple months in braces. She wore them for the full 2 year term, then they came off. However, the orthodontist wanted to permanently affix a wire across the back or her teeth to hold them steady. THAT was when it was really explained to me that keeping them straight was a lifelong process. No way was I letting them glue a wire across the inside of her teeth. They were pretty pushy and obnoxious about it, but we went with the nightly-retainer option.
It kind of blew my mind. Why, when they're straight and there is plenty of room in your jaw for them, would they try to re-crooked themselves the minute you stop restraining them? I just don't get it.
Well, I have a pretty significant overbite. It bothers me. And getting braces again is just not an option.
