And that's a wrap! On the first 100 grams of this oyster-colored Wool of the Andes roving. I'm very happy as my yarn quality and understanding continue improving; definitely getting to those consistent thin yarns I wanted. The green skein is absolutely the favored child, but I swear it is actually better than everything else, not just green. Which gives me some hope for all the wool I intend to card, actually.
My rambles got extra long, as were the image descriptions, so please enjoy this cut:
I wanted to test blending fibers with the same staple length before I get into more complicated things with the fiber festival fleeces (I am still slowly accumulating what I need to wash and dry them) and was honestly a little worried about how disorganized and snaggy it felt to card and draft, both. But my oh my that squishy, soft, wonderful yarn. I'm gonna keep trying to emulate it, though I still love the organization of just spinning nice long semi-compact roving. Versus even once I get a diz aka drill a hole in my designated piece of curved laminated cardboard, I expect carded sliver to be loose and fall apart if I do things like wrap it around my wrist as a proto-distaff. For the green yarn, I tried making kinda loose sideways rolags that I both compacted and drafted the tiniest bit so they could be wrapped into nests.
So! Mayhaps I should try carding something that isn't already organized. Like the little bit of very lanolin-laden wool that was packed with the e-spinner (EEW Nano, original flavor) I recently acquired from a thrift store. And maybe I won't want to wash all the lanolin out and lose the learning experience if I also blend it with other, clean fiber. Perhaps if I cannibalize the first skein here...? Good thing I never fulled it after all!
The above is not actually the train of thought that lead me to wanting to combine those two; I'm just realizing that there are basically no projects that I want to do that would actually use that yarn as is, and I'm already planning my limit of small and patchwork projects for other things. One is that I'm planning to put together all of these oyster skeins into maybe a hat? to commemorate my improving spinning skills, maybe with lace for the underplied and color work for the green, and I already have my actual first spin in a scarf so I don't feel too beholden to preserve this. I really like textured knitting that needs even, solid or slow-transition, thin yarn, whereas this wild and lumpy almost-twenty-feet would maybe work for someone who did tapestries? But that is not me. And I think if I calm down and maybe tweed up the bright colors I'll enjoy them more, as well. So. These may be the last photos of the yarn in its current state.
Whether that's my next project or if I try to get some mileage on the Nano with the next bundle of oyster, I'm not sure. I'm already missing my fidget activity after just a couple days of washing and drying the last skein, but I also wanted to design some bookmarks with the clearance yarn I got at the same time as the roving. So if I can get a prototype pattern laid out so it's not as much ongoing brain power, that might fit the bill.
[ID: Three images of various small hanks and balls of yarn laying on a wood table with notes digitally hand-written in light purple around them.
The first photo shows all eight of the skeins in the order they were spun, all but two a light cream color. The first is a chunky, uneven skein spun from a bright purple, pink, and orange gradient, labeled "chain ply" and 6.6 yards. Next is a cream center-pull ball that is 36.25 yards, and next to it a smaller, more even center-pull ball of 22.5 yards, perhaps 21 wraps per inch. Next is a forest green skein, labeled "hand carded," 49 yards, balanced and soft! Next are two cream skeins that were "underplied and broke," 116 plus 33 yards, 30 wraps per inch. The penultimate skein is longer than the rest (having been wound around more than one chair back) and 158.25 yards. The final skein is labeled "intentionally thicker to pair with green," and 99.75 yards.
The second photo compares the green and final skeins, with winding notes starting with a cloud of hearts by the green. It is a "50/50 blend of Oyster and Aurora roving colors on handcarders," and "took no notes so of course it's balanced, soft, and sturdy." Its cream counterpart has a smoother surface, more even thickness, and is slightly more tightly plied, with the note "didn't card but made an effort to match on ply back tests -- decent weight, almost balanced, not soft" (flat-mouthed face).
The third image compares the first and last skeins, the first labeled as 23 grams of gifted cheviot or shropshire, chain plied from ball with core, for a total of 6.6 yards. The latest is 24 grams of clearance peruvian highland, plied via book-wrapped bracelet into a two-strand ball, totalling 99.75 yards. End ID]

Sonic Prime Extended Universe HCs - No Place
so we know that the Shatterverses aren’t “real,” full universes, just  distorted reflections of the Prime that aren’t fully-formed, hence why  there’s only like 6 people and two locations. However fucking around is  fun fun fun so I’m just gonna do a post for each universe dissecting  where the other Sonic Universe characters would be and what they’d be up  to. Please for the love of GOD add your own ideas/hcs in the comments I  want us all to melt into creativity mush.
No Place
sorry this is kinda short im buzzing with excitement about prime dropping tomorrow
go ask @birdsareblooming about her pirate au
As expected, Blaze and Marine’s lives are mainly unchanged. They’ve got more of a pirate aesthetic though so obviously this is a massive W
Silver’s been on more sunken ships than he can count. He’s pretty sure he’s cursed.
Sally is the Captain of her own ship with the whole SatAM squad as the crew. If there’s no wind Dulcy just ties a harness to herself and flies the ship. And then lands in the water because they won’t let her crash on the deck anymore. Bunnie has a peg leg
Tekno’s ship can fly. dont ask how, she’s very talented.
Mighty and Ray are still very pacifistic but Ray is quite adventurous so they cross paths with quite a lot of dangerous folk in their travels. Mighty is, thankfully, very good at defending himself
The ARK was an actual arc...,.,.,
Mina is a Siren
Cosmo’s species are very landlocked, however most of the world is underwater so their land is definitely fading fast. She’s got Moana Syndrome and wants to see what’s out there!!
Nobody expects Vanilla to be a formidable adversary. They are all very, very wrong. Gemerl may be Cream’s bodyguard but his second job is holding Vanilla back
God how many times do I have to say Sticks is thriving. She really just loves chaos
You know who else is thriving? The Babylon Rogues. Wave and Rouge have a homoerotic rivalry and Jet is sooooo tired of it he sees Dread’s ship coming and starts banging his head against the mast
Hooligans are also fucking THRIVING. Fang’s ship is small but nimble, and can outpace almost any other ship. And, yes, Bean mans the cannons.
If the Zeti aren’t on their hex they have their own ship of insanity. Imagine the chaos. They’re all trapped on the ship together. Zeena has used Zor as sharkbait more than once.
A lot of the SCU humans ended up on one boat. Rachel has tried to throw Captain Tom overboard multiple times. She mutinies twice a day. It’s a tradition now. Jojo was told she wasn’t allowed to have her own sword and so she walked over to the cannons and started firing.
Morain is having the time of her LIFE. she LOVES fighting and killing and maiming and biting. Errol is a little more cautious but he cannot stop her
In LOVE with the idea of the Nocturnus being held in stasis in an undersea shipwreck. If only someone would come wake them up. Hey, Dread, let’s go swimming over here...
Breezie has her own crew and she’s #girlbossing. Bokkun on cannons ofc!
Rough and Tumble are so bad at pirating but god bless them they are trying.
Helen is really really into mermaids and Chris and Frances help her design fancy “tails” for dress-up. Chris’s family is rich so obviously he’s a prime target for pirates and he’s just like. used to it by now? Usually Helen and her mechanized chair come into save him so he’s comfortable just being damselled and hanging out in the brig. He brings his own card games for the prisoners of whoever grabbed him this time. He runs into Princess Elise like every other week and they have a competitive tally of who’s been kidnapped the most.
Tangle also has Moana Syndrome and has been desperate to go pirating since she like. came into being. Jewel is on her boat but she’s uncomfortable with violence so she just hides below deck and does all the paperwork and organization. Lanolin is the Captain because she’s the only one who can organize AND fight at the same time.
Whisper cautiously joins Lanolin’s crew after they help her out of a jam at a pirate bar. It took a while, but she became accustomed to Tangle’s wild ways and would die and kill for her.
Her previous crew was killed in a shipwreck. What killed them?
MIMIC SEA MONSTER MIMIC SEA MONSTER
The Sonic Boom Village are all on a ship together. Zooey is shockingly one of their best fighters and Sails would probably fall in love with her instantly. Perci considers herself the crew’s guardian and is very protective of them and of the ship, which she repairs herself. Dave still can’t cook for shit and Staci somehow still has a cell phone
Starline literally fished up Surge and Kit in a net. Kitsunami is a water spirit and had his water powers naturally in this universe, and he’s bound to Surge b/c life debt or smth.
Eyepatch!Infinite or bust
Clutch runs one of those pirate hideouts, like Port Royal in Pirates of the Caribbean, and he’s got tabs on EVERYONE. He’s got dirt on EVERYONE. Don’t cross him.
Instead of a moon, The End takes the form of a swirling whirlpool.

Room Checks!
- Room is always perfectly organized and not so much as a pen is ever out of place: Espio, Blaze, Jewel, Mephiles
- Room is generally clean and neat, just needs a quick tidying up: Shadow, Cream, Mighty, Whisper
- Room is cluttered but not dirty, a few minutes of cleaning and organizing the night before gets it ready: Amy, Tails, Cosmo, Kit, Tikal, Lanolin, Belle
- Room is consistently messy but magically gets cleaned in time for room checks: Rouge, Barry, Ray, Metal
- Room is pretty messy, there's half a box of week-old pizza on the floor and something smells, just barely manages to make it clean enough to pass room checks: Vector, Surge, Infinite
- Spends the last five minutes before room checks frantically shoving things in drawers: Tangle, Silver, Sonic
- Room is alright but there's at least one hole in the wall barely hidden by a poster: Knuckles
- Room looks like a hurricane hit it, consistently fails room checks: Charmy, Jet

Can we hear about baby showers that each couple had?
Ooooh let me see BSKDNKDKS
I imagine Rouge organized Sonic and Shadow's baby shower, because they weren't planning on doing one and she almost went crazy when she heard that NSKDJSKXJAD So of course she went off with all the preparations, they had so much food and fun games and at some point they alo got to gather around the tube and Emmie was just there floating but everyone was loving it NSKJSLDJA It wasn't a super big party, there were just close friends and family, but it felt like such a big event because all of the things Rouge organized:]
Amy and Blaze's first baby shower was more like just a nice dinner with some baby themed board games and presents. Amy -with Cream and Silver's help- pulled out this big and delicious dinner for all of their guests -and they included some of Blaze's cravings just to stick to the theme nskxkskxk- Their second one was kind of similar, but a lot more relaxed since they've done that before and weren't as anxious for everything to turn out okay like they were in the first pregnancy.
For Tangle and Whisper I don't really see a party, more like a gathering. They may have invited Jewel, Lanolin, Amy, Belle, Sonic (I imagine they told him that he could bring Shadow if he'd like, but Shadow didn't want to go NSKZJAKX), Tails, Blaze, etc. And just... Hung out lol I can see Tangle wanting a big party but being more than happy to settle for a small gathering for Whisper's comfort.
The ones who did have massive party were Sonia and Mina. I just see Mina as that kind of girl, and Sonia made sure to have the best decorations and food available. Mina was in charge of the music, and invited everyone she knew -saying they would get more gifts that way nskxjskx-.
I don't really know if Scourge and Fiona would've had a proper baby shower, I don't really think they did. Not sure lol maybe they just went hey we need baby stuff bring it here. Idk

"send me ask about thomastair or matthew"
12 days of Christmas, Qs about our beloveds!
what are all three of them watching during the holiday season?
What would a skincare / make up routine (if he wears it) be for our Matthew on an average morning?
if each of them were on social media, what would be their go-to social media app and why?
who would you consider the most street smart, book smart and the most emotionally smart and why?
what would be each of their fav holiday traditions this time of year?
One can allege that both characters are super alike but extremely different in a lot of ways. so how do you think Matthew and Magnus in personality overlap and where do they differ?
what are some questions you HATE receiving in your ask about these three characters and why?
Between Thomas and Alastair, who is assigned what choir and why in the maintanance of their flat at Cornwall Gardens?
Who is more prone to bouts of sadness between thomas and alastair and what does the other do to help them feel better or take them out of their funk?
What are some of their favourite dishes they make for each other? They give me the vibe of being massive loving home bodies so i'm curious to know your take on what they make for food and what are their go to dishes!
What are in each of their stockings and who gave what to contribute to stuffing their stalkings (for all three of them! Matthew and Thomastair)
Last day of christmas question :) - What are YOUR predictions/wishes of who/what the scene each of them will be, in the better in black novella? :))
Ily! I hope you liked this! it took me over half an hour to think up q for what i was trying to do hahaha
Nice I'm so glad that I saved this for when I was high.
I think that they're watching various shows and Christmas movies. But I also think that they're watching their usual things.
This is actually so interesting : https://www.beautifulwithbrains.com/beauty-history-cosmetics-in-the-edwardian-era/. So he had Concoctions and creams with Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Lanolin, Petrolatum, Witch Hazel and Glycerin.
Matthew is a Tumblrina and you can pry that from my cold dead hands. But also probably TikTok and Instagram, because he can't stay away from the travel videos for long. He has a whole IG page to his travels (@/wilde-wanderer, of course). And he has tons of followers who love the aesthetic landscapes and dog pictures. Thomas is a Duolingo boy - languages? Owls? Definitely, and that's most of what he does on his phone. But he does have a Twitter account to share his scores to, and he competes with Alastair to try to get ahead of the other one in their target languages. Thomas also uses his Twitter to follow accounts in Spain and language learning accounts. Alastair hits it big on YouTube because Thomas encourages him to showcase his piano. So he has many followers. It's really amazing for him, and he posts new things frequently. Kind of like VSQ, but solo piano.
Street smart is Matthew because he has all walks of life experience. Like this dude woke up wrapped in the Union Jack one night when he was drunk (Waterstones edition bonus letter). He could get by in back alley deals and make his way thrugh the world. Book smart is Alastair because he grows up lonely and reads a lot, and also he has a natural curiousity for life and the world around him. Thomas is emotionally smart, he sees minute details in people and can tell what they need so they can feel better.
Thomas likes to make cinnamon bread. Alastair likes to sing and play carols. Matthew likes to decorate and make beautiful.
MATTHEW AND MAGNUS okay. I will make a venn diagram:
Tumblr media
Idk dude
ALASTAIR CHORES: cleaning the counters, cleaning the floors (he is a very cleanly man and just does these things), cooking dinner for both THOMAS CHORES: laundry, organizing (can reach tall cabinets), cooking breakfast for both. both characters do dishes
I think both are equally prone to bouts of sadness. I think Thomas will be more prone then Alastair to bouts sadness for a while, first, because of terrible grief over his family members. Alastair will still be in that "thank God I can breathe" phase but not in te "oh god how can I breathe i have to learn" phase, which will come in time and be the worst bit. But I think that Alastair has a shitmine of trauma to process and it will be incredibly emotional journey for probably the rest of his life, so he will be the most prone in the long run. Both of them are of course there for each other, I think that they hold each other and they talk about what the grief is and they comfort each other and they feel acceptance and support for one of the first times ever. I love them.
Thomas and Alastair, right? Yeah lol I wrote in my fic they spent a long time together alone and then they had their friends over and they wanted to get rid of everyone and be alone together again. I think they're, like, each other's favourite person. I think they are like being in a partnership. in all things. Like , if Alastair does something wrong, Thomas still has his back. And if Thomas does something recless, Alastair is not mad with him but he is worried for his safety. Anyway, I'm higher than I want to be. This is not the question. I think that thomas makes Alastair a lot of Persian food when he wants to, but he is kind of not a naturally amazing cook so he has to be taught by Alastair. Alastair shows him though and it is fun and romantic and bonding experience. I think Alastair makes for Thomas handmade trifle. It is his favorite dessert. Also salads without a hint of celery.
I will draw an image
Tumblr media
I jsut want them to be IN the short stories! It's important to me. My mutual posted a post about how Cassie said something promising. Also when I asked SoS team they sent me a ;).

Be Prepared With This Must-Have Hospital Bag for Labor Essentials
Tumblr media
When it comes to packing your hospital bag for labor, it's essential to strike a balance between necessities and overpacking. Remember, one or two bags should suffice, as long as you have all the important items within. Let's delve into why preparing a hospital bag for labor is crucial and explore the key essentials to consider packing.
Why Prepare a Hospital Bag for Labor?
Packing a well-thought-out hospital bag is a vital step in ensuring a smooth and stress-free labor experience. By having your bag ready in advance, you'll save yourself the last-minute scramble and unnecessary stress. Here's why preparing a hospital bag for labor is highly recommended:
Stay Prepared for the Unexpected
Statistics indicate that approximately 80% of women deliver their babies within the anticipated time frame. However, unexpected situations can arise, and having a prepared hospital bag will give you peace of mind. By being prepared, you can comfortably navigate any unexpected changes in your delivery schedule.
Your Lifeline at the Hospital
Think of your hospital bag as your lifeline during your stay at the hospital. It should contain all the essential items to support you through the childbirth process. These items should be familiar, comfortable, and safe for your use.
Cater to Your Unique Needs
Every expecting mother's journey is unique, and so are their needs. By preparing your bag in advance, you can personalize it to cater specifically to your preferences and requirements. This way, you'll have everything you need to feel comfortable and supported during labor and the postpartum period.
What to Pack in Your Labor Bag?
As you prepare your hospital bag, it's crucial to carefully consider the items you include. Here are the essential items to consider packing for a smooth labor and delivery experience:
Hospital Documents
Before anything else, gather and organize your hospital documents. These typically include your ID cards, insurance cards, and any birth plans you've made. Each hospital may have specific requirements, so check with them beforehand to ensure you have all the necessary paperwork.
Comfortable Clothes, Socks, and Slippers
During and after labor, your body goes through various changes. Opt for loose-fitting clothes that allow easy access and provide comfort. These will come in handy when you need to use the bathroom or rest. Additionally, pack a pair of cozy socks and comfortable slippers to keep your feet warm and comfortable throughout your stay.
Nursing Pads and Bras
If you plan to breastfeed, nursing pads and bras are essential items to include in your hospital bag. Nursing pads will help control breast milk flow and prevent leaks, keeping your clothes protected. Nursing bras provide support and easy access for breastfeeding, ensuring your comfort and convenience.
Pillows and Nipple Cream
Although hospitals provide pillows, bringing your own can enhance your comfort during labor and postpartum recovery. Choose pillows that suit your preferences and ensure a good night's sleep. Additionally, consider packing nipple cream to alleviate any discomfort associated with breastfeeding. Nipple creams provide healing moisture, prevent dryness and itching, and promote healing.
Peri Bottles and Lotions
After childbirth, the perineal area may feel tender and stressed. A peri bottle can help you cleanse the area and alleviate any discomfort. Additionally, mild lotions or emollients such as lanolin can provide relief for dry, sore, and cracked skin. These items will contribute to your overall postpartum comfort and well-being.
Preparing for Your Delivery
As your due date approaches, it's important to start packing your hospital bag in a thoughtful manner. Remember the following tips as you prepare for your delivery:
Be Mindful of Quantity: Opt for one well-organized bag rather than multiple bags. Overpacking can lead to confusion and make it challenging to locate specific items when needed.
Consider the Season: Depending on your delivery date and the prevailing weather, pack suitable clothing. Choose warmer attire for winter deliveries and lighter options for summer births.
Seek Recommendations: If you're unsure about what to include in your hospital bag, don't hesitate to seek recommendations. Online resources and experienced mothers can provide valuable insights and suggestions.
In conclusion, preparing your hospital bag for labor is a crucial step in ensuring a smooth and comfortable childbirth experience. By packing essential items such as hospital documents, comfortable clothing, nursing accessories, pillows, and postpartum care products, you'll be well-prepared for the journey ahead. Remember to personalize your bag based on your unique needs and preferences. With your hospital bag ready, you can focus on embracing the joy of bringing new life into the world.
Invest time in preparing your hospital bag for labor today, and enjoy a stress-free delivery tomorrow!

We independently evaluate all recommended products and services. Any products or services put forward appear in no particular order. if you click on links we provide, we may receive compensation. A tattoo is the kind of thing you put a lot of thought into. The significance. The design. The location. By that logic, you also put a lot of thought into what happens after you’ve been inked, right? Right? This is hard to convey since these are just words, but I was yelling at you just then. Screaming. Sorry it had to go down that way, but finding and using the best tattoo aftercare products is important. Not only do the right balms, lotions, numbing creams, sunscreens, and soaps help the recovery process, they can also help preserve the color and detail of your ink. There are countless niche-specific products out there, and we’re going to check out some of the best ones, but you might be surprised by how many tattoo aftercare products you might already have on your bathroom vanity. Key Takeaways  The best tattoo aftercare products heal your fresh tat quickly without irritating the skin or causing damage to the art itself. When it comes to all-around effectiveness at an approachable price point, Aquaphor is the one to beat. Speaking of good prices, my top budget pick is Badger Tattoo Balm—a certified organic product that not only works but has arguably created some of the finest badger-related package art the world has ever known. tattoogoo / Instagram Yep, Aquaphor. No trendy branding. No niche-specific uses. Just trusty, been-around-forever Aquaphor—one of the most recommended aftercare products by tattoo artists. Its first ingredient is petrolatum, a topical mixture that holds in moisture and has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Another quality that makes Aquaphor the best tattoo aftercare product is that it’s scentless. Scented products can cause premature fading and general irritation, which, yes, would be a bummer. It’s ideal for the first few days post-ink when the skin is most sensitive. One nitpicky drawback: it tends to transfer to anything it touches. If possible, wear clothes you don’t mind getting all Aquaphor-y. Ingredients: Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Ceresin, Lanolin Alcohol, Panthenol, Glycerin, Bisabolol | Cruelty-Free: No | Skin Type: All If you’re looking for a fragrance-free, all-natural, highly praised balm on the cheap, Badger Tattoo Balm is as good a place to start as any. Its USDA Certified Organic formula is gentle on your fresh design and can also help bring out its brightness. And even if you don’t use it all on your tattoos, it makes a solid everyday balm for any other problem areas you might have. And most importantly, the package art is a badger sailing a ship in a Steve Zissou hat surrounded by octopuses. The healing properties were a close second, though. Ingredients: Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Fair-trade Coconut Oil, Other Organic Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All For the purposes of this category, I’m going to define “luxury” very loosely. That’s to say, Billy Jealousy’s Tattoo Lotion errs on the pricey side. Because what is luxury if not an outstanding product that’s probably-maybe-definitely a bit overpriced? This lotion is a good fit if you’re looking for a product that delivers on moisturizing your skin and keeping your tattoo’s colors bright while not leaving a sticky residue behind. Something to note is that it’s lightly scented with lavender and rosemary. And while it’s true that you should generally avoid scented products on fresh ink, Billy Jealousy’s scents are derived from essential oils as opposed to synthetic fragrances. Ingredients: Green Tea Leaf Extract, Rosemary & Grapeseed Oils, Shea Butter, Other Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All Hustle Butter has long been a staple of both tattoo artists and their clients. Its vegan formula reduces irritation and is said to help maintain color and even revive it in older tattoos. And not to bury the lede, it’s got a 4.8 average rating out of over 25,000 reviews. In case you missed it, that was a whopping 25,000+. One reviewer wrote, “I normally don’t ever leave reviews but this product blew me out of the water. It made the day after so much more bearable, and made sure the tattoo and surrounding skin wasn’t dry.” Rinse and repeat about 24,999 more times, and you get the gist of people’s opinions of this stuff. Ingredients: Shea, Mango, Aloe Butter, Coconut Sunflower, Other Vegan Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All Sometimes the best tattoo aftercare products are the ones that are already right in front of you on your bathroom sink. If you’ve had your tattoo for a few weeks and happen to have a bottle of Eucerin Advanced Repair Body Lotion lying around, scoop it up, apply liberally, and thank me later. A key feature that helps make this one of the best products for tattoo aftercare is the presence of ceramides in the formula. They’re lipids that help strengthen your skin while protecting it from the elements. This particular formula is also unscented, which you know by now is semi-crucial for a successful healing process. And since you’re working with a traditional unscented tattoo body lotion, it’s perfect for everyday use long after the healing process. Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Urea, Other Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: No | Skin Type: All Not interested in piecemealing your tattoo aftercare routine? Time to kit-y up, cowboy. (What have I done? Kit-y up? I apologize, but under no circumstances should you accept.) Where was I? Right. The Aftercare Kit from Tattoo Goo. It’s a nice solution if you want more of a one-stop-shop suite of products to help your newborn tattoo recover. In the kit are an antimicrobial soap, tattoo care lotion, and tattoo balm. Everything you need to preserve your art and your skin. The products play nice with sensitive skin, contain natural ingredients, and can be used on new and existing tattoos. Ingredients: Olive Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerine, Other Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Baby Soap is among the most gentle of its formulas. Having “baby” in the name was a good first clue. But it’s one of the best tattoo aftercare products for a handful of other reasons, mainly its versatility and the fact that it’s super tattoo-friendly. The unscented soap is all-natural and made with over 90% organic ingredients. And you’re working with a concentrated formula, meaning a little will go a long way. Put a bottle on each of your sinks and just go about your day as a person who not only has some killer new ink but also makes great soap-related decisions. Ingredients: Water, Organic Coconut Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Organic Olive Oil, Other Organic Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All After Inked has an excellent reputation among tattoo artists and the general tattoo community. It’s been featured on the tattoo reality show Ink Master and has been in business for over 15 years. Which is nice and all, but what’s in it for you? Well, moisturized skin mostly. But not just any moisturized skin. We’re talking skin that’s been kissed by grapeseed oil and other all-natural, petroleum-free ingredients. Which is only overly dramatic for talking about tattoo lotions if you make it overly dramatic. And like a handful of the other best tattoo aftercare products, After Inked will do its job well after your tattoos heal, but also on non-inked areas of your skin. Ingredients: Water, Grape Seed Oil, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Other Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All The National Library of Medicine (NLM) recommends that anyone with a tattoo apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher before sun exposure. The NLM also suggests reapplying every two hours when exposed to the sun. And a bunch of other stuff. Basically, just wear sunscreen. Correction, wear this sunscreen: Mad Rabbit’s Defend Tattoo Sunscreen. It does everything any self-respecting sunscreen should do—employ zinc oxide to block harmful rays and the like. But the newly tatted will especially appreciate its anti-inflammatory ingredients and skin barrier-supporting fatty acids. Who doesn’t love a good fatty acid? Ingredients: Zinc Oxide, Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Other Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All Drake. Justin Bieber. Bella Hadid. Miley Cyrus. Cara Delevingne. What do all these celebrities have in common? They all have faces. Oh, but also, they’re just a handful of the entertainers who’ve been tattooed by one of LA’s most sought-after tattoo artists, Dr. Woo. If you don’t necessarily feel like putting yourself on a yearslong waitlist to get inside the guy’s studio, happy day. Because he recently launched the next best thing—his own line of tattoo aftercare products aptly named Woo. The Double Hydration Tattoo Care Duo features a body moisturizer and an aftercare moisturizer. The former is for existing ink, and the latter is for fresh tattoos. Ingredients: Water, Methylsilanol Mannuronate, Hyaluronic Acid, Other Ingredients | Cruelty-Free: Yes | Skin Type: All afterinked_uk / Instagram What To Look For In The Best Tattoo Aftercare Products Ingredients Paying close attention to the ingredients in the best tattoo aftercare products can mean the difference between a vibrant, healthy tattoo and one that prematurely fades and causes skin irritation. For the first few days, it’s especially important to avoid 100% petroleum products that can trap moisture and scented products that can cause dryness and general irritation. Use Tattoo lotions are going to work differently than tattoo balms. Tattoo sunscreens are going to work differently than tattoo soaps. You get it. Obvious? Maybe, but if you want your tattoo to be the best it can be, make sure you’re targeting specific needs with specific products. If you’re not sure where to start, a kit like the one Tattoo Goo makes is a good place to start. Versatility Some tattoo aftercare products have a singular function: to help your tattoo safely heal. Other products, like Dr. Bronner’s liquid baby soap and Mad Rabbit’s sunscreen, extend their usefulness beyond just helping the freshly tatted. Think about your overall grooming routine before deciding which products work best for you. madrabbit / Instagram Final Verdict  Aftercare is just as important as choosing a design and where your tattoo will go. The best tattoo aftercare products preserve the color of your ink while safely and effectively helping your skin bounce back. Aquaphor is my top overall pick because what it lacks in bells and whistles, it more than makes up for with its skin-friendly healing properties. FAQ Just after getting a tattoo, experts recommend using a light, unscented moisturizer. Some scented products may cause scarring or result in your tattoo fading prematurely. Aquaphor is one of the most recommended aftercare products by tattoo artists. It soothes and moisturizes the tattooed area and has anti-inflammatory properties that can help heal your new ink. For brand new ink, avoid medicated ointments that can accelerate the healing process in a way that could damage your tattoo. Also avoid 100% petroleum products for the first few days, as they can trap moisture and potentially lead to infection.
