Final thoughts 

I’m planning on reading the short stories but I’m not sure when. Maybe after Changes to give myself a break from all that’s going to happen in that book. I loved all the Marcone we got. We’re up to 13 or 14 Bi Harry moments depending on that drooling comment. The train battle was so cool! I liked that Harry and Marcone had the same idea. I liked that Harry figured out that the noose. He really scared Nicodemus. Harry’s in his early thirties and Nicodemus is thousands of years old. What is Marcone’s end goal with Amanda like say she wakes up. She’s been in a coma for years. She'll want her parents and not this stranger (Marcone) . What's Marcone going to do to tell Beckitt that their kid is alive and awake. What’s his plan? Does he know that Helen tried to kill him back in Storm Front? I liked the fights in the book. I thought the duel with Duke Ortega was cool. I loved Ivy. I thought Shiro was cool. Now about that dual the Outside stuff Ivy brought had the same naming convention as He Who Walks Behind maybe they’re from the same place. Outside reality but that brings how did Justin sic a being outside of reality on Harry? As always, I love all the Harry and Marcone banter. I loved Marcone and Amanda. I loved that Harry was willing to take up the Shroud with Marcone. I liked that Harry picked up the coin to save little Harry. But couldn’t he just pick up little Harry instead of touching the coin? Can’t wait to get Lash. I really liked this book. Onto the next one. I’m making steady progress on the series.

So! Comic-Con this weekend. To go along with my Nicodemus costume, I made a bunch of Coins to pass out to the Worthy while there. The only designs I found were a.... little too intricate for the most part, so I just made a bunch of Lasciel and Saluriel Coins in addition to my Anduriel, and I tried to make one for Magog, but it didn't turn out so great. But hey, it was a fun process no matter what!

Of course! You know what, I'm going to give you a chunky sneak peek because I'm almost done with the first chapter, but I don't like posting WIPs as I go so it will probably take a good while until the whole thing gets posted to AO3. Besides, it was your idea and you deserve it ^^ Thank you xx

“Starvation is not a good look on you, son.”

It was after midnight and Thomas had been working out alone, in silence for more than an hour. He did not jump from where he was lying on the bench press when he heard the words. Only because it got ingrained in him from a young age that if you acted like prey you got eaten. So he just calmly pushed the weights toward the ceiling again.

“Don’t call me that,” he growled, sparing a glance at the man standing in the doorway. That sentence was a little too similar to what his actual father would have said.

Nicodemus walked down the few steps leading into the basement gym and smiled. There was no warmth in the expression. He always liked to point out that it said something about a person what they allowed themselves to be called. Thomas thought there were easier ways to get to know someone, like for example, asking them what you wanted to know. Unfortunately, things were never that easy with the leader of the Order of the Blackened Denarius.

“Are you not my godson, Thomas?” Nicodemus asked with quiet amusement. He had a deep blue housecoat on, with his usual black trousers and dress shoes at the bottom. Thomas didn’t know if he actually came here for the gym, if so, the outfit was definitely strange. But it was his house, after all, so Thomas was in no position to judge.

With another push, Thomas put the weights back into their place and sat up on the bench. He was too busy keeping his Hunger in check to entertain his godfather’s rhetorical questions.

He had just saved Harry’s bony ass from the monster of the week again – ghouls, ew – and it took out more of him than he expected. Harry wasn’t some princess that needed saving, of course. He was a powerful wizard of the White Council. But the dolt also tended to get himself in more trouble than he was comfortable handling and Thomas couldn’t just sit on the side and watch his brother suffer the consequences of his reckless actions.

“I’ll be fine,” he muttered. Working out kept his body busy and his mind focused on something. As long as he didn’t injure himself it didn’t make him any more Hungry.

“Once you have fed properly, yes,” Nicodemus replied firmly.

Thomas made a face and dabbed at his neck and naked chest with a towel just to do something with his hands. Ever since he almost killed Justine, he was struggling with the thought of feeding. He knew starving himself to death wouldn’t serve anyone, and that it could even backfire on him if he lost control. But he didn’t think he could let himself take more than a sip of life energy at a time from another ever again.

It further complicated things that he officially became persona non grata in the White Court. He had been staying at one of his godfather’s places as a result and his general state didn’t go unnoticed. His current living arrangement wasn’t something Thomas sought out. He didn’t have a lot of contact with Nicodemus under normal circumstances. Maybe his mother had thought making some kind of deal with the Denarian was a good idea, but Nicodemus was a particularly sharp two-edged sword if Thomas had ever seen one.

(He was also very good with swords, which Thomas had to begrudgingly admit was a sight to behold when applied in action.)

Sometimes Thomas hadn’t heard from him for years and that meant things were going well. However, the Denarian had a sixth sense for showing up when things started to go south. It had probably something to do with his creepy fallen angel shadow spying on everyone.

With nowhere else to go, Thomas had accepted his hospitality. He started to regret it. How was he supposed to know that Nicodemus Archleone of all people had a mother hen’s instinct of feeding the few people he was or wanted to get close to? Which in Thomas’s case was a disaster waiting to happen given his dietary requirements.

“I just need some rest,” he lied.

Nicodemus picked up a dumbbell from a shelf and idly tossed it in the air a few times.

“Is that why you are here and pushing yourself?”

Arcs and Storylines

Arcs that I’m writing or will write on this blog. Will add to this as I come up with stuff.

So far, I’ve been keeping everything in this blog in a single ‘verse, just because the muse seems to be leaning that way. That may change in the future though. So far, this blog actively crosses over with Wynonna Earp and Supernatural, with crossovers with Doctor Who, Pacific Rim, and The Librarians in the future as well (which I have in drafts but haven’t written much on yet). But obviously I’m open to more crossovers! 

Duplicate muses are fine, and will be considered to be in a parallel world with either its own arcs or the same ones listed below, depending on who the muse is. Additional ships will also be in their own ‘verses, since Harry’s very much the monogamous type. If you’d like your own ‘verse, just let me know.

1. The Purgatory Files. Harry (pre-Winter Knight) wakes up in the middle-of-nowhere town of Purgatory with no memory of how he got there or why. As the arc progresses, he realizes that he was sent on a mission by Mab as a fulfillment of one of his remaining favors to her, but for some reason, she had deemed it fit to erase his memory of what that mission was, or even that he’d been given it in the first place. There is an ancient evil rising inside the Ghost River Triangle, and it intends to open the way to something even more horrific. Harry serves-- somewhat reluctantly-- as a consultant to Black Badge during his time in Purgatory, partnering with Wynonna Earp and Xavier Dolls to investigate and counteract a rising tide of dangerous paranormal and occult phenomena that seems to be building towards a particular end. As time goes by, he begins to realize that his feelings for Wynonna go far deeper than he is at first willing to admit.

2. Better Angels. Nicodemus uses Harry as bait to capture Castiel for use in a dark ritual intended to create a powerful weapon to be used against an unknown (by Harry and Cas) foe. Harry, pushed beyond his breaking point, chooses to accept Lasciel and her coin so he can have the power to save his friend-- and himself-- from an unspeakable death. Broken and traumatized and fighting to maintain his humanity, Harry sets out on a quest-- sometimes accompanied by his lover, Wynonna Earp, and sometimes alone-- to hunt down and destroy every last member of the Order of the Blackened Denarius. In the middle of all this, Harry discovers that he is going to be a father-- but the child that Wynonna carries is, thanks to Lasciel’s presence in Harry, a Nephilim, making mother and child a target of supernatural forces bent on either destroying or gaining control over the child.

3. Dead of Winter. Harry returns from the brink of death after the events of Changes and Ghost Story, bearing the mantle of the Winter Knight. Details to be determined as I’ve not written anything in this arc yet.

Who we are (Partial bio)

This was never meant to happen. 

My name is Alicia Carpenter, daughter of Michael and Charity Carpenter, and the greatest worry on my mind should be my career. Of course, I’m not that lucky. 

I must admit I should have known better, I should have been prepared. But I took the coin, I met the shadow and after a fire that nearly took my life, I fell to temptation. I am now a Knight of the Blackened Denarius, partner to Izitayel. 

Oh, mortal soul. You are not a Knight, for knights embrace their orders. But my partner, that you are. 

I am Izitayel of the Fallen, older than time and not at all wiser. I’ve fought the crusades, I was there when Blackbeard died, I’ve dined with gods and treaded Arctis Tor. I was born to the heat of battle and in battle I found a soul, mortal or not, that I could care about. She was my host and mine to destroy, nevertheless I admired her courage. She took the coin to fight a war and to save others, she accepted me and yet she never once yielded. She turned her cause into mine. 

But in the end i couldn’t save her. We died in battle, she went upstairs and left a coin behind. 

We the Fallen do not hope, but I still seek another cause.

Definitely original, but maybe tieing in older characters from past books in a fun, creative way? Maybe do a big story about the Order of the Blackened Denarius? That way, we get some serious awesome baddies with Nico and what have you, and we get more story about those guys in general.

AND THAT MEANS WE GET MICHAEL. Lol and just the swords in general, I think would be awesome. So that means Butters has to be playable, which I just think would be amazing.

As far as genre, I'm definitely thinking a mix of action-adventure/mystery. He's a PI after all, always tryna solve shit, so puzzles and trying to piece together info and rumors, etc would be a fun thing to do when you're not throwing down some awesome spellwork.

So, what would a Dresden game be like? I think it would be an adventure game similar either to the latest Dad of Boi, really giving an emphasis on the weight of the combat and a semi open world with light side quests, with Harry and any of his support cast working together on a smaller intimate story, or something like Yakuza, big open world where you play an interlocking story with different playable characters, each with a unique fighting style, Harry being about the magic, doing things like research and day to day odd jobs, Murphy about gun play and police work, Thomas with a focus on hand to hand doing a case for the Oblivion War, and Molly with a focus on stealth and intel. Either would be an original story.

But what do you all think? What kind of game would you want to see? Would you want an original story? Who should be playable?

I saw this going around twitter a while back and stuck it in an open tab for me to come back and gawk over months later. I just got to that part in Dead Beat. Wait, maybe that isn’t specific enough—there was that whole sub-plot thing with Sheila—but I was thinking of the bit with Mr. ex-Saluriel.

Okay but the minute I saw the coin roll out of the bank lady's hand, I knew what it was because of The Dresden Files.

Any other Sleepy Hollow/Dresden Files fans out there?? Every revelation about the coins, I was like "yup", "yep that", "mmmhmmm".

It’s no surprise really, that Denarians often clash, even personal ambitions aside - with even just all the sheer reasons that the various Fallen could have fell in the first place, that would inherently lead to clashing.

Even if in-universe we don’t know most of their names, never mind the reasons behind that: there are still general known examples to draw from.

Such as-

Those who Fell because they just did not like humans being made: they felt that these new additions to God’s creation were going to ruin absolutely everything. They dearly loved the Earth and all it’s other creatures and did not wish these ruiners in it.

Then there were those who didn’t like how much God liked the humans, essentially. Instead of giving them all that was now given to these mortals, they felt.

Then those who got Drunk on Power and wanted to rule everything. Why shouldn’t they, after all?! They’re better than these mortals bellow! They should be in charge!

Those who thought they could do a better job than God could be a different or interconnected category within this.

Then, those acting out based on the concept of - “Team Free Will For Angels”.

Then you get the Fallen Grigori - whose problem was they just loved humans far too much. They interfered. They taught things they thought would help them, some even taking on a human lover and having offspring. Before all that new family and friends drowned in the Noah flood that is.

So, it’ll likely be a pick and mix of angels from such categories (maybe more) stuck in the coins.

And, as an example - 

A Fallen who fell because they hate humans and loved everything else God made vs A Fallen who once held their own half-human baby in their arms, helped raise them too, before the Great Flood drowned that child 

- They’re going to have vastly different reasons for doing what they do, exactly why they’re angry at God, as well as likely different priorities and modes of conduct.

You also can’t see someone who hates humans as a very concept for instance, being fond of the tongue-less cultists the Denarians have or wanting to work with them much at all - or being inclined to let whose body they’re in take the front seat.

While those who fell for power, might even like bossing the cultists around - as well as be very inclined to recognise the need for such assets.

So...if you put them both together for a mission: clashing is likely going to happen. 

Rinse and repeat scenario, with various different mix-matches.

And you have just one reason why these guys often struggle to tolerate each other.

One.

Of many.

Including the above mentioned personal ambitions.

...They never stood a chance.
