"Cheol, I swear to god get the fuck out of my shirt"
"Your shirt? This is my shirt"
The audacity of this man to argue back, you thought. Who knew a big buff man like Choi Seungcheol would be like a clingy koala, the answer would be you and only you. You're the only one who gets him like this.
Your fiancé knew exactly which buttons to push and when to push them. Like right now, you told him you were catching up on some work you missed while the two of you went on a quick weekend trip but ofcourse he would find a way to be involved somehow.
So here he is, half of his body inside your(his) shirt while you sit on his lap.
You're close to getting your work done but Cheol's being difficult, littering kisses and a few playful bites here and there on your chest.
"Cheolie, please give me five minutes to finish this then I'm all yours. If you don't stop, I'm sleeping in the guest bedroom"
You feel him move out of your shirt, now he's fully facing you. One brow raised and a sulky pout already placed on his lips "You're mean"
"5 minutes or no cuddles tonight"
He scowls before helping you off his lap so he can get off the seat. "I'm setting a timer, done or not I'm coming in here" And you believe him. He's petty like you, maybe because you're both Leos.
He kisses you on the cheek before walking away, closing the door behind him.
You finish the last three emails you had to send before doing a final run through. You look at the clock to see you're cutting it close. Testing to see if Cheol will really come in the room, you wait instead of going out to the living room.
When the clock turns, you hear the door swing open. Everything happening all too fast, Seungcheol already throwing you over his shoulder before you can protest. He walks to the other room where he throws you (gently) on the bed, hands on his hips as he watch you laugh
"You're so petty" you laugh
"And you're so pretty, you know just how to drive me mad huh" he tells you, climbing over the bed until he's on top of you. He slots himself between your legs, tangling them around his hips as he rests his body on you but not fully putting all of body weight on you
"You better not have left hickies on my neck again" you poke him on the cheek
"And if I did? It's not like somebody will come and check" he retorts, then leans down to start kissing your neck again as if to prove a point.
"Cheol, seriously. I can never wear low cut now" your words differ from your actions, tilting your head to the side to give him more room. He smirks against your skin, kissing the same spot over and over again.
He pauses to look at you, eyes looking back at him with so much love and lust it goes straight through him. "You know you have a few moles like from your neck down here" he trails his finger from your neck down the valley of your chest, leaving goosebumps on it's trail.
"Do I?"
"Mhm, and you know what they say about moles? They say that's where you were kissed the most in your past life"
You smile, already seeing where this conversation is going. "Jealous?" you tease him
"Pshhh me? Yes. Actually sometimes it pisses me off thinking someone loved you this much, someone who isn't me"
"But what if it was you?"
"Then good. It should be me. I can't even fathom any other guy loving you more than I do" he tells you, ever so sure and confident of his commitment to you.
"You're cute when you're jealous"
"I'm gonna kiss you here too, over and over again so when we're reborn you get all these moles again I'll be sure it would be because of me"
You stare up at your man, imagining a universe where you're not with him is simply impossible. Pulling him down to crash his lips against yours, he reciprocates the kiss with just as much passion. Like you're the air he's breathing.
When you pull away he speaks again, "I really hope it's me in every universe"
You smile at his words, giving him a more gentle kiss this time. The two of you share a smile and few more kisses before you tell him,
"Love me like this and I'll make sure of it"

WC: 4.4k
A/N: I'm an inconsistent writer sorry about that :') I listenned to Diet Pepsi from Addison Rae and that's basically how i got the inspo lmao. THERE'S MORE DON'T WORRY <3
Synopsis : Sunghoon’s fingers traced lightly along my jawline, his touch sending shivers down my spine. His eyes were dark, almost predatory, as they locked onto mine.
“Still trying to play the innocent, huh?” he murmured, his breath warm against my ear. “Tell me, Y/n, is this really what you want?”
I looked away, struggling to keep my voice steady. “You think you know me so well. But you’re just playing games.”
A smirk tugged at his lips. “Games? Maybe. Or maybe I’m just giving you a taste of what you’ve been craving all along.”
I shivered as his hand slid down my side, his touch lingering with a mix of arrogance and seduction. “I’m not here to fulfill your fantasies,” I retorted, though my voice trembled slightly.
Sunghoon leaned in closer, his lips brushing against my neck. “Funny,” he whispered, “because it seems like you’re exactly where I want you. So tell me, how much more do you want to deny it?”
His words were like a caress, both maddening and irresistible. As his hands explored my body, the tension between us crackled with undeniable heat. I could feel my resolve slipping, leaving me to grapple with the dangerous allure of his touch.
“What are your plans for summer break?” Fia asked, tossing her clothes into her suitcase.
“I’m not sure yet… probably looking for a summer job,” I replied thoughtfully. “What about you?”
“I’m heading to my boyfriend’s place for the summer. It’s just a few kilometers from the dorm,” she said with a grin.
“You’re leaving me here?” I said with a mock pout. “It’ll be strange not having you around for two months.”
“Oh, don’t be dramatic,” Fia teased with a mischievous smile. “I’m not vanishing completely. I’ll be back from time to time to work on some assignments, and we’ll definitely catch up.”
“Well, now that you mention it, I think I’ll focus on studying as much as I can this summer,” I said.
Fia rolled her eyes dramatically. “Come on, it’s summer break! The last thing you should be doing is burying yourself in books. We’re supposed to have fun!”
I frowned slightly. “I take my studies very seriously. Fine art has always been my dream.”
Fia placed a hand on my shoulder, her tone softening. “A little fun won’t ruin your grades. You’re the top student of your degree. You’ve earned a break.”
I paused, contemplating her words. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right…”
“Of course I am!” she said with a playful nudge.
Fia was right. From the start of the program, I’d poured my heart into being the best. My drive for perfection earned me a scholarship to the University of Applied Arts and a spot on campus. It was time to enjoy this well-deserved summer break.
“Oh, by the way,” Fia said, “this weekend, my boyfriend invited me to a car race he’s participating in. You should come with me!”
I blinked in surprise. “But isn’t that kind of thing illegal?”
“Yeah, but don’t worry. It’s not the first time they’ve done this, and it’ll be packed with people. It’ll be a blast!”
“Fia, I’m not sure—”
“No arguments,” she interrupted with a firm tone. “Consider it an order.”
I sighed, feeling resigned. “Alright, fine.”
“Who knows, maybe you’ll find a hook up,” Fia said with a teasing grin.
I winced. “No thanks. I’ve got more important things to think about.”
Fia just laughed and went back to packing. “Just saying!”
The weekend finally arrived, and with it, the excitement of the car race that Fia and I were about to attend with her boyfriend, Leo. Early that evening, Leo showed up at the dorm to pick us up. His sleek, matte black sports car gleamed under the streetlights, a perfect match for his look.
“Ready for the race?” Leo asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
I managed a nervous smile. “I think so. I’ve never been to something like this before.”
Fia squeezed my shoulder reassuringly. “Don’t worry, Y/n. Leo’s been looking forward to this for weeks. It’s going to be a night to remember!”
The drive took us out of the city and into a more rugged, secluded area. As we approached, the landscape transformed from urban sprawl to an open, abandoned parking lot illuminated by harsh floodlights. The place was alive with the hum of engines and the murmur of an excited crowd.
Leo parked his car and motioned for us to follow. We made our way through the crowd of racing enthusiasts and racers who darted around. The makeshift racetrack was set up in the lot, a stark contrast to the surrounding darkness, and it was buzzing with a palpable energy.
“I need to check on the car,” Leo said. “You two find a good spot to watch.”
Fia and I wandered towards the viewing area, navigating through the crowd. I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of the scene. The smell of gasoline and burnt rubber was strong, mingling with the cool night air.
“Are you alright?” Fia asked, noticing my nervousness.
“Yeah, just a bit out of my element,” I admitted, glancing around at the throngs of people and roaring engines. “This is way more intense than I expected.”
Fia smiled and squeezed my arm. “You’ll get used to it. Leo’s really fired up tonight. And speaking of which, you should see the guy he’s racing against.”
Just then, a tall, imposing figure appeared near the track. He stood beside a sleek, silver racing car that seemed to glimmer under the floodlights. His presence was magnetic, and there was an effortless confidence in the way he carried himself. His dark eyes were sharp and focused, and he exuded an almost aloof air of superiority.
“That’s Sunghoon,” Fia whispered, her voice laced with a mix of awe and excitement. “He’s Leo’s biggest rival. Sunghoon’s undefeated, and Leo’s been itching for this challenge for a long time.”
I stared at Sunghoon, taking in his cool demeanor. He seemed unfazed by the crowd and the hype, his focus solely on the track and his car. The rivalry between him and Leo was evident, and it was clear that this race was more than just a competition—it was personal.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the floodlights cast an artificial daylight over the track, and the atmosphere thickened with anticipation. Leo emerged, his expression one of intense focus. He and Sunghoon exchanged terse words, their conversation filled with a competitive edge. Leo’s jaw was set with determination, while Sunghoon remained cool and composed, his demeanor almost nonchalant.
The night sky darkened completely, and the roar of the engines grew louder. The cars lined up on the starting grid, and the crowd’s excitement reached a fever pitch. With the night air charged with tension, the signal was given, and the cars surged forward with a deafening roar.
Fia and I found a good spot to watch, and I could hardly contain my excitement as the two cars sped around the track. The vivid lights of the floodlights made the scene almost surreal, the racing cars cutting through the darkness like shooting stars.
As the race unfolded, I was completely absorbed by the action. The speed, the noise, the thrill—it was all overwhelming and exhilarating. And as the race reached its climax, I felt a rush of adrenaline, caught up in the intensity of the moment.
The two cars were neck and neck, their speed creating a blur of lights and shadows. The crowd was on the edge of their seats, and the tension was almost palpable.
With a final burst of speed, Sunghoon’s sleek silver car edged ahead, crossing the finish line just inches in front of Leo’s black racer. The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, their excitement blending with the roar of engines slowly dying down. Sunghoon had won.
As the cars stopped and the cheers subsided, the announcer’s voice cut through the night air, amplifying the stakes of the race. “And there you have it, folks! Sunghoon is our winner tonight! As per the wager, Leo must now grant Sunghoon whatever he desires.”
Sunghoon stepped forward, his calm demeanor unshaken by the cheers and the spotlight. His voice was cold and blunt as he addressed the crowd, though his words were directed solely at Leo. “I want Leo’s girlfriend for the night.”
A hush fell over the crowd. The request was both shocking and humiliating. Leo’s face flushed with anger and frustration as he realised that Sunghoon was humiliating him by forcing Leo to give away his girlfriend to his rival, but before he could react, he turned to Fia and me.
“Fia, Y/n can I talk to you both privately?” Leo’s voice was tense, his eyes shifting between us.
Leo took a deep breath, his frustration evident. “I don’t want to give Sunghoon what he’s asking. It’s not right. But I need a way out of this.”
Fia’s expression hardened, her anger growing. “What do you mean, a way out?”
Leo glanced at me, his eyes pleading. “I’m thinking of proposing something else. Y/n will come instead of you Fia and I’m hoping he’ll accept this as a substitute.”
I felt a wave of confusion and anxiety wash over me. “Me? But why me?”
Leo’s gaze was intense and desperate. “If he accepts this, it might be the only way to avoid giving up Fia and not get humiliated even more.”
Fia’s face was a mix of anger and betrayal. “Leo, this isn’t right. You can’t just—”
Leo interrupted, his voice firm but strained. “It’s the only option we have right now. I need your help, Y/n.”
Fia’s eyes darted between Leo and me, her frustration evident. “Y/n, you don’t have to do this. It’s not fair to put you in this position.”
I was overwhelmed, feeling trapped between my own uncertainty and Fia’s distress. “I—I don’t know. This is all happening so fast. I don’t even know Sunghoon.”
Leo reached out, his tone softening. “Please, Y/n. I’m asking you to do this for Fia’s sake. It’s just for one night, and it’s the only way I can avoid getting humiliated and giving away my girlfriend to this jerk.”
Fia stepped forward, her voice trembling with emotion. “Leo, this is wrong. We need to find another way. Y/n shouldn’t be put in this position.”
Leo’s face was a mask of frustration and desperation. “I don’t have another option right now. If we don’t do this, it’ll only make things worse.”
The idea of stepping into a situation I wasn’t prepared for, and the pressure of Leo’s request, made me feel uneasy.
Leo could see the distress in both Fia’s and my eyes. Trying to calm the situation, he put on a reassuring smile. “Listen, I’ll handle this. Maybe that was too hasty of me, I’ll figure out another way to settle this without involving anyone we don’t want to. Just give me a moment.”
He stepped away from us, his expression a mix of determination and secrecy. I could see him heading towards Sunghoon, their conversation hidden from our view. Fia and I watched anxiously, both of us lost in our own thoughts.
“I hope he knows what he’s doing,” Fia muttered, her voice tinged with frustration and worry. “This isn’t fair to anyone.”
I nodded, feeling my anxiety grow. The whole situation felt like a bad dream, and I was unsure how to react.
Moments later, Leo returned with a more composed demeanor, but the tension was still palpable. Without a word, he reached for Fia’s hand. “Let’s go,” he said firmly, guiding her away from the crowd.
Fia looked at Leo in confusion and anger. “Leo, what’s going on? Where are you taking me?”
Leo didn’t respond, his grip firm but gentle as he led her away. Fia’s protests grew louder, her voice carrying through the noise of the crowd. “Leo, stop! What are you doing?”
My eyes darted around, searching for a way to help her. Just then, Sunghoon approached me, his expression unreadable.
“Come with me,” he said, his voice cold and commanding.
Before I could react, Sunghoon’s hand was on my arm, guiding me towards his car. The crowd had thinned, and the night air felt colder as he led me through the parking lot. My heart raced as I struggled to process what was happening.
“Wait, where are we going?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Sunghoon didn’t answer immediately, his focus on the car. As he forced me inside, he slid into the driver’s seat, starting the engine with a smooth, controlled motion. The low rumble of the car seemed to echo the turmoil inside me.
As we sped away, I glanced back towards the crowd, hoping to see Leo and Fia, but they were already out of sight. The weight of the situation settled heavily on my shoulders. I had been pulled into this chaotic mess, and I felt trapped and unsure of what lay ahead.
Sunghoon drove in silence for a while. The tension in the car was thick, and I struggled to find the right words.
“Where are we going?” I asked again, trying to break the silence.
Sunghoon finally turned his gaze away from the road, his expression still unreadeble. “To a place where we can talk privately. Leo’s plan was to avoid facing the truth. I don’t appreciate being deceived.”
I swallowed hard, trying to calm the frantic thoughts swirling in my mind. “Leo said he would come up with another solution. He didn’t want to go through with your original plan.”
Sunghoon’s gaze remained fixed on the road, his face still cold. “It seems he was less forthright than I thought. But here we are.”
As the car sped through the night, I felt trapped between the conflicting actions of Leo and Sunghoon. The night was far from over, and the uncertainty of what lay ahead was both thrilling and terrifying.
Sunghoon maneuvered the car down a winding dirt path, the headlights slicing through the dense forest. The rhythmic thud of the tires against the uneven terrain was the only sound breaking the silence.
He eventually pulled over in a secluded clearing, the car's engine humming softly as he shifted into park. The sudden quiet was almost deafening, and I could hear my own heartbeat thudding in my ears. Sunghoon’s fingers drummed impatiently on the steering wheel, his frustration barely masked by his cool exterior.
He turned to me, his dark eyes fixed with an intensity that made me shiver. “This wasn’t how I planned it,” he said abruptly, his voice betraying a hint of irritation. “I was supposed to take Leo’s girlfriend, not his friend. The humiliation would’ve been far more satisfying.”
He leaned back in his seat, his demeanor shifting back to its usual aloof and nonchalant state. Despite the situation, he seemed eerily calm, as though he was simply going through the motions of a routine rather than engaging in something deeply personal.
“Tell me,” he said, his voice smooth and almost casual, “have you ever done it in a car?”
I could feel my cheeks flushing with embarrassment. His question was blunt, and the way he asked it—so casually—made my face grow hot. I glanced down at my hands, fidgeting with the hem of my dress, unable to meet his gaze.
“I... no,” I stammered. “I haven’t.”
Sunghoon’s smirk widened slightly, though his eyes remained unreadable. “I thought as much. It’s not really your scene, is it?”
I shook my head, unable to find the words. The situation was surreal, and his casual demeanor only seemed to heighten my discomfort. I felt trapped, both by the physical confines of the car and the emotional weight of the night.
Sunghoon studied me for a moment, his expression thoughtful. “I suppose we’ll make this a first for you then,” he said, his tone almost indifferent.
The way he spoke made me feel like I was part of some game he was playing, and I couldn’t shake the sense of unease. The silence in the car felt heavy, suffused with an uncomfortable tension. Sunghoon’s gaze remained fixed on me, his smirk never fading. I could feel his eyes on me, as if he was assessing every nuance of my reaction.
“I guess this isn’t exactly your kind of thrill, is it?” he said, his tone dripping with condescension. “I mean, it’s clear you haven’t really lived on the wild side.”
“I’m not some... easy target,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady despite the lump forming in my throat. “Just because I haven’t done something like this doesn’t mean I’m... I’m not bold enough.”
Sunghoon’s eyes glinted with a sharp, almost predatory light. He leaned forward slightly, his tone dripping with condescension. “Is that so? I just thought you might be too timid for something like this. You look like someone adamant to step out of your comfort zone.”
The way he spoke was calculated, meant to push my buttons and provoke a reaction. I could feel my pulse quickening as his words sank in, igniting a fierce determination within me. I wasn’t going to let him belittle me, not without a fight.
In a sudden, impulsive decision driven by a mix of defiance and desperation, I shifted my position in the car. Without fully realizing what I was doing, I swung my leg over his lap and straddled him, my heart racing with a mix of anxiety and adrenaline.
Sunghoon’s eyes widened in surprise, but the smirk on his lips remained. He looked at me with a blend of amusement and satisfaction, as if he had been waiting for this exact reaction. His hand rested casually on my hip, his touch sending a shiver down my spine.
“Raise the stakes,” he said, his voice low and almost amused.
The realization of what I had done hit me like a jolt. I was straddling him, the proximity making my heart race even faster. The initial burst of defiance was replaced by a sinking feeling as I understood Sunghoon’s manipulation. He had provoked me, played on my insecurities, and now I was exactly where he wanted me.
A wave of shame and anger washed over me, and I tried to push myself off his lap, but Sunghoon’s grip was firm, holding me in place. His eyes were cold and calculating, and his smile widened with satisfaction.
“You’re quite easy to manipulate, you know,” he said softly, his voice tinged with an edge of cruelty. “It wasn’t hard to get you to react. All it took was a little prodding.”
I was taken aback by his words, the sting of his taunt cutting deep. I had been tricked, my attempt to assert myself used against me. The realization made me feel vulnerable and exposed, and I struggled to maintain my composure.
“I... I didn’t mean to—” I started to say, but my voice faltered as I tried to regain control of the situation.
Sunghoon’s grip on my hip tightened slightly, his gaze never leaving mine. “It’s alright,” he said with a cold, almost pitying tone. “You don’t have to apologize. It’s just a part of the game. And now, you’re fully in it.”
Sunghoon’s eyes never left mine as he took in the flush of anger and embarrassment on my face. His smirk grew more pronounced, a blend of satisfaction and cruel amusement evident in his gaze.
“Since you’re so eager to prove yourself,” he said, his voice smooth and laced with taunting, “why don’t you give me a hickey?”
The request was unexpected, and I felt a surge of panic. The idea of doing something so intimate and, frankly, embarrassing in my current state made my heart pound even harder. I was overwhelmed by the situation, unsure of what to do or how to respond. I felt a growing aversion towards him, fueled by his manipulation and the way he seemed to toy with me.
But my pride was a stubborn force. I wasn’t going to admit that I didn’t know how to give a hickey, not to him. The very thought of telling him that was mortifying, and I refused to give him that satisfaction.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my trembling hands. “Fine,” I said, trying to sound confident despite the knot of anxiety tightening in my chest. “I’ll do it.”
Sunghoon’s eyes glittered with a dangerous, sensual light. He tilted his head slightly, exposing the side of his neck. His hand wandered from my hip to my back, fingers grazing my skin with a touch that was both deliberate and electrifying.
“Go on,” he said, his voice low and almost a purr. “I’m waiting.”
My heart raced as I leaned in closer, the heat of his body against mine making my breath hitch. I pressed my lips to his skin tentatively, trying to muster the courage to follow through with the task. The closeness was overwhelming, and his touch made it even harder to focus.
Sunghoon’s hand continued to explore my body, tracing along my back and the curve of my waist. Each touch was calculated, designed to heighten my discomfort and make the situation more intense. I could feel his fingers brushing lightly against the bare skin of my upper thigh, and it made me shiver involuntarily.
Despite my best efforts, I was inexperienced and unsure, and I could tell by the way Sunghoon’s eyes gleamed that he was thoroughly enjoying my struggle. I tried to apply pressure with my lips, but it came out more hesitant than confident. The feeling of his skin beneath my lips was foreign and unsettling.
When I finally pulled back, my face flushed with embarrassment and frustration. Sunghoon’s expression was a mix of amusement and mockery. He traced a finger lightly over the spot where I’d tried to leave a mark, his touch a lingering reminder of my inexperience.
“Not bad,” he said with a smirk. “Though I have to admit, it’s more like a soft nibble than a bite. You’re a bit too gentle.”
I glared at him, my pride wounded by his taunting. The way he compared my attempt to a bite only deepened my humiliation. I tried to ignore the heat rising in my cheeks and the ache of frustration that was slowly taking over my emotions.
Sunghoon's smirk never faded as he observed my flushed face. His eyes gleamed with a mix of amusement and something darker, something that made my pulse race. Before I could react, he slid his hand down to grab my ass, pulling me closer against him. The sudden move made me gasp, my breath catching in my throat.
"Let me show you how it should be done," he whispered, his voice low and laced with a dangerous edge. Before I could react, he pulled me closer, his other hand slipping into my hair and tugging my head to the side, exposing the delicate skin of my neck.
I barely had time to process what was happening before I felt his lips against my skin. The sensation was electric, his mouth hot and insistent as he latched onto my neck with a hunger that made my breath catch. His teeth grazed my skin, and the sharpness of it made my body tense, every nerves.
A low, involuntary moan escaped my lips as his grip tightened on my ass, pulling me flush against him. The way his body pressed against mine, the heat radiating from him, was overwhelming. My mind screamed at me to pull away, to resist, but my body betrayed me, responding to his touch with a confusing mix of fear and arousal.
He sucked harder, his tongue swirling against my skin, leaving behind a mark that I knew would be impossible to hide. The intensity of it sent a wave of heat pooling in my stomach, and I hated how much it was affecting me. Every touch, every movement of his lips against my neck, seemed to ignite something deep within me that I hadn’t known existed.
When he finally pulled back, I was left breathless, my heart pounding in my chest. Sunghoon’s eyes were dark, filled with a dangerous satisfaction as he surveyed the mark he had left on me. His thumb brushed over the spot, and I shivered at the lingering sensation.
"See? That’s how you leave a mark," he said, his tone dripping with arrogance. "You can’t just be gentle with everything. Sometimes, you have to take what you want."
I tried to mask my reaction, but the throbbing pulse in my neck and the ache in my core made it impossible to hide how his touch had affected me. I hated that he had turned me on, hated that my body had responded to him in a way that made me feel weak and vulnerable.
But most of all, I hated that he knew it. The triumphant gleam in his eyes told me that he had noticed every shiver, every gasp, and it only fueled his arrogance.
Sunghoon’s eyes softened slightly as he pulled back, his lips leaving a lingering warmth on my neck. He looked at me with a mix of satisfaction and something else I couldn't quite place.
“Well, that’s enough for tonight,” he said, his voice suddenly shifting to a more neutral tone. “I’m not going to push you further.”
His unexpected decision left me with a strange mixture of relief and frustration. I tried to steady my breathing, my cheeks still flushed from his touch. Despite the torment and the way my body had betrayed me, I snapped back, trying to salvage some shred of dignity.
“Why did you even need to do all this?” I asked, my voice shaking slightly. “Why did you have to—”
Sunghoon cut me off with a dismissive wave of his hand. “I was just having some fun. Besides, you made it pretty easy.” He paused, his smirk returning. “Where do you live? I’ll give you a ride back.”
Sunghoon drove me back in silence, the atmosphere between us thick with unspoken tension.
When we finally arrived at the dorm, Sunghoon parked the car and got out, walking around to open my door. I stepped out, feeling the cool night air on my skin. He looked me up and down, his eyes lingering on my rear with a smirk.
"You know," he said, his voice carrying a hint of teasing, "you have a pretty nice ass I will give you at least that."
His words hit me like a punch to the gut. I felt a surge of humiliation and anger, my cheeks burning as I tried to compose myself. I managed to muster a glare at him, but my eyes were brimming with unshed tears.
Sunghoon’s smirk widened as he got back into his car. “Looking forward to us meeting again, Y/n.”
As the car pulled away, I stood there, feeling a mixture of relief and heartache. I fought back the tears that were now streaming down my face, the raw emotion bubbling up from within. The frustration I felt wasn’t just from the night’s events but from how deeply it had affected me.
It wasn’t just the emotional turmoil that left me in despair; my underwear was uncomfortably wet, a reminder of how Sunghoon's actions had affected me in ways I deeply resented. The realization of how much he had gotten under my skin only added to my sense of humiliation and frustration.
The streetlights cast a faint glow on the pavement, reflecting the tears that continued to fall from my eyes. It was in that moment, that I came to a clear and undeniable conclusion.
I hated him.

Helena Hospital
Kayce was seated in one of the lobby chairs in the hospital nervously tapping his boots on the tile floor needing something to distract his mind from what was happening.
Gripping his hair in his hands tightly he wanted all the bad thoughts to get out of his head.  Hearing footsteps he heard Alana’s voice call out to him.  “Kayce, I say this with love.  But you don’t look too good.  Maybe you should go home and get some rest.”
“I can’t leave her.  I can't leave, especially while she's still in surgery.” He shot his head upright offended that she even suggested that idea.
The blonde walked forward pausing in front of her brother in law nervously.  “Look I'm not trying to make you upset.  It's just right now we can't do anything.  It's up to the doctors.”
“The last time someone said that to me was when Alissa was in labor with Faith.” He growled through tears, seeing pain flash across the woman's face.  “I almost lost them both that day.  I refuse to sit here and feel helpless.”
Alana softly tried to get his attention.  “Kayce, you shouldn't be by yourself right now.”
“Go fight that dang detective to get her out of this mess.  I'll be fine on my own for a few hours.” He pushed himself up from the chair heading in the opposite direction in the hospital hallway.  He shoved his hands inside his jacket pocket, looking at his appearance in the reflection of the glass window.
The youngest Dutton looked like a wreck.  His eyes red from crying after they had rolled his wife into surgery.  His hair was disheveled and greasy.  Running his hands down his face he recalled one day that could have been the worst day of his life, but it became the greatest day since his daughter was born.
Kayce jumped out of his father’s truck rushing over to the backseat passenger side, flinging opened the door getting ready to help his girlfriend out of the vehicle.  John had drove them to the hospital and the other family members were following shortly behind them.
“Kayce - I - I don't think I can do this - oohhh!” Alissa winced, getting rolled in a wheelchair, holding her belly that looked like it might explode any minute.
Once they had gotten rolled in the room he helped the nurse gets her up in the bed.  “Don’t think like that, honey.  You're the strongest person I know.”
“Don’t leave me here.” I grasped my hand in his, where he dropped down onto his knees holding my hand tightly.
“There’s no way in hell I would do that, Lissa Rae.”
The doctor named Amber came into the room all dressed in her scrubs and gloves looking at the vital screen that monitors the baby and his wife.  “Good morning Ms. Lambert, it appears that you are completely dilated and ready to give birth to your baby girl.  Are you ready?”
“I guess so.” She gulped nervously, squeezing her fiancé's hand that was holding hers.
Alissa began pushing with everything she had until it had been hours later and the baby still hadn’t come out.  She lays her head against the pillows trying to catch her breath, feeling Kayce brush her hair from her sweaty forehead.  “You’re doing so good, babe.”
“Mr. Dutton, we’re going to have to change her delivery method.  The baby is upside down so we will have to deliver her through a C-section.” The doctor explained once the nurses began putting IV’s into Alissa’s arm.
Alissa called out to her husband in fear.  “Kayce - I - what does that mean?  I - I want you to be there with me.”
“I’m sorry ma’am but it’s not allowed by protocol.” A nurse responded with a disappointing look on her face at seeing the young sixteen year old that was about to become a teen mom.
Young Kayce squeezed his soon to be wife’s hand sobbing heavily after he had attempted to be strong for his terrified lover.  “You’re going to make it through this surgery.  And when you wake up we’re gonna have a beautiful daughter.”
“Mr.  Dutton, we need to get her into surgery right away.” Dr. Amber declared, reminding the young couple.
Alissa croaked through tears.  “I love you, Kayce John.”
“I love you, Lissa Rae.” Kayce kissed her lips gently letting her hand slip from his watching the hospital staff take her into surgery leaving him in the room feeling completely powerless in that moment.
Kayce had come out of the bathroom seeing Detective Dillard standing in the hallway with Alana who went over to him.  “The detective just informed me that they are beginning to examine both articles of clothing.”
“How long will that take?” He asked her.
She shrugged her shoulders sadly.  “I don’t have an answer for that.  I’m sorry.”
“So we’re still stuck waiting.” Kayce sharply turned his head hearing an alarm start going off.  “What the hell does that mean?”
“That’s a disconnect code.” One of the nurses at the desk scrambled to her feet seeing something that the other three people didn’t.  “Oh my god. Oh my god.”
Kayce spins on his feet bolting to the end of the hallway in pure panic.  “Who’s room is that coming from?  My wife’s or my father’s?”
“We will handle this.  Step back, sir.” Another nurse gently put her hand on Kayce’s chest.  Kayce quickly looked around the room not caring what he did next.  The nurse went to touch his arm and tried to get him to sit back down.  “Please step back, sir - ah!”
“Alissa!” Kayce called out his wife’s name punching the nurse where she collapsed onto the ground.
She held her head firing off a code name.  “We have a code White in process.”
“Alissa! - Get your hands off of me.” Kayce got slammed into the nurses desk by a hospital officer that pushed his elbow into the youngest Dutton’s throat in an attempt to hold him down.
Detective Dillard came around the corner with Alana before his sister in law shoved the hospital officer off of her brother in law.  “Are you trying to kill him!”
“I’m answering the code White call.  He throat punched a nurse.”
Alana got up in the hospital officer's face with a snarky tone in her response.  “He’s the current Livestock Commissioner meaning he is an agent of the State that you just attempted to assult.  His father is the Governor and his wife is also currently in surgery.  So how about you cut him some slack unless you want me to charge you with assault charges.”
“What.  What is, what is today?” The group heard the patient that was awake speaking to someone down the opposite hallway from where they were standing.
One of the nurses answered.  “Thursday.”
“What month?”
The same woman answered.  “August. You need to lay down.”
“Been laying down long enough.”
A voice over a radio informing the staff.  “We have a code three.  422 I. C. U. “
“What’s a code three?” The unknown patient asked.
Kayce and Alana whipped their heads around knowing that voice without a doubt of even seeing the person yet.   Meanwhile Beth was walking back from the coffee maker with a glass cup in her hands, walking down the hallway with the nurses and the unknown awake patient.  The glass mug slipped from her hands shattering to pieces on the tile floor. “Daddy.”
“Where’s Alissa?” John asked his daughter, holding onto the medication walker that was connected to the iv needle sticking into his arm.
Beth weakly answered him.  “She’s in surgery.  They - the police were accusing her of attempted murder on your life.”
“Dad - you’re awake.  Dillard, he’s awake now!” Kayce and Alana moved standing behind Beth watching the doctors move him back into his room and sit on the bed.
Detective Dillard walked up behind them about to say something else.  “We need to give him time to recover before I question him.  He’s been in a coma for almost a month -“
“You here my father’s side of the story and start fucking clearing my wife’s name.  And if you do anything else except that I will make sure you pay for it regardless of what charges you pin on me!” Kayce shoved Dillard harshly against the nearest wall, getting up in his face with bared teeth.
Dillard nervously nodded his head in agreement quickly.  “I understand, Commissioner Dutton.” Alana eyed the two men with a hopeful smile that they would finally get her sister home and figure out who had sent those men to kill the Governor.

Note
I’ve got this one prompt idea ~ could you do a story where bb is thinking about raven or jealously pining for her while she’s with another guy ?
Like he’s got this crush on her but he’s either with Terra and Rae is with so,done else, or she’s with someone and he’s all like “Why ain’t she with me, what does she see in him?” And maybe he rants about this to Terra, who gets mad and bitchy in response
Swirling Thoughts
Beast Boy/Raven
Teen Titans
---
Beast Boy sat on the couch, staring at the big screen TV, but not really watching the show in front of him. His mind was far from the animated series playing, and even farther from the bag of chips resting in his lap. He glanced sideways toward the kitchen, catching a glimpse of them—Raven and Aqualad—laughing quietly as they made coffee together.
Aqualad leaned in, whispering something in Raven's ear that made her chuckle, her lips curling up in that subtle way that only he seemed to draw out of her. It was like Raven had this whole other side that came out when she was with him. The usually sarcastic, reserved half-demon became… softer. Open. She even smiled around him.
How was that fair?
Beast Boy clenched his jaw, feeling a knot form in his chest. His fingers tightened around the TV remote, but he didn’t press any buttons. His mind was busy cycling through a flood of emotions he couldn’t suppress.
What did she see in that guy?
Aqualad was smooth, sure. He had the whole “tall, dark, and brooding” thing going for him, with that mysterious vibe that apparently made girls swoon. But Beast Boy couldn’t wrap his head around why it worked on Raven. She hated that stuff, didn’t she? She used to make fun of him for being too emo when he tried brooding in the corner like Robin. And yet here she was, cozying up to Aqualad like he was some kind of genius or something.
“Hey.”
Beast Boy blinked, startled out of his thoughts. He turned to find Terra standing by the arm of the couch, hands on her hips. Her blonde hair was still tousled from training, cheeks a little pink. She looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to say something.
“Oh, hey, Terra,” he mumbled, trying to force a smile.
She frowned, eyes narrowing as she looked between him and the kitchen. “You’re doing it again.”
“Doing what?”
“Staring at them,” Terra said flatly, crossing her arms. “You’re thinking about Raven.”
Beast Boy’s heart sank. “No, I’m not.”
“Gar…” Terra’s voice dropped to a low, warning tone. “You really think I’m that stupid?”
“I wasn’t staring,” Beast Boy lied, turning back toward the TV. “I mean, it’s not like I care that much.”
Terra walked around sat down beside him, her body tensing as she leaned in. “You’re still hung up on her, aren’t you?”
He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he ran a hand through his hair, his fingers tugging at the green strands in frustration. He glanced at Terra, saw the hurt in her blue eyes, but he couldn’t stop himself.
“I don’t get it,” he blurted out, gesturing toward the kitchen. “What does she even see in him? What’s so great about Aqualad?”
Terra closed her eyes as she clenched her teeth. “What does it matter? You’re with me, remember?”
“Yeah, but it’s not—” he stopped mid-sentence, realizing what he was about to say, but the damage was already done.
Terra stared at him, hurt and anger flashing across her face. “It’s not what, Gar? Not the same? Not as good as being with Raven?”
He rubbed his face, hating himself for saying anything at all. “That’s not what I meant…”
Terra’s voice was ice cold. “You know, maybe if you spent half as much time caring about us as you do about her, this wouldn’t be so hard.”
“I do care about us,” he shot back, defensively. “I just—I don’t get it, Terra. Why would she go for a guy like him? He’s…he’s so serious all the time! He’s no fun, he’s like a walking aquarium or something. I don’t get it.”
Terra clenched her fists in her lap, staring hard at the floor. “Maybe he treats her like she matters. Maybe he doesn’t spend his time obsessing over other girls when he’s already with someone.”
That hit like a punch to the gut.
Beast Boy’s words caught in his throat. “Terra, it’s not like that.”
“Oh, it’s exactly like that,” she snapped, rising to her feet. “You’ve been doing this ever since they started hanging out. Acting like you’re still just friends with her while you’re with me. But every time you look at Raven, it’s like I don’t exist.”
She stormed toward the door, and Beast Boy shot up to follow her.
“Wait, Terra, I’m sorry!” he called after her. “I didn’t mean—”
She paused at the door, her hand on the handle. When she turned back to him, her eyes were glassy with unshed tears. “I don’t want to be someone’s second choice, Gar. If you want Raven so bad, go get your heart broken by her. But don’t expect me to wait around.”
Before he could respond, the door slammed behind her, the sharp sound echoing through the tower.
Beast Boy stood there, frozen in place, as the weight of what just happened sank in. The knot in his chest twisted tighter. He had screwed up. Big time.
He looked back toward the kitchen. Raven was still there, now looking at him, completely unaware of the storm raging inside him. His heart thudded painfully in his chest.
Why wasn’t she with him?
But deep down, maybe the question he should’ve been asking was why did I let Terra walk away?

Prompts are still open btw, send more!!

Ch.10| Masterlist | Ch.12
Tumblr media
The week had passed fairly quickly, but tiring still. You were thankful when you weren't called into work, your first full day off.
A part of you knew that staying home, writing and planning whatever you needed for upcoming lessons would have been the responsible thing to do on the other hand, the other part of you craved time for you so in the end you decided to do the next best thing- visit home.
The journey to your parents house was often quite and quick, today was no different.
That was until you walked into your childhood home to find your your father laying across the hall, seemingly still.
You rushed to his side checking for a pulse as you quickly dialed for an ambulance.
You were relieved when you felt a rhythmic, albeit faint, pulsing strapping you of the worry he had died.
The ambulance arrived within a matter of minutes, hauling him onto a stretcher and into the back of the ambulance before offering you a ride to the hospital.
You sat in the seat by the back doors watching silently as they hooked him up to a machine, more wires than you could count coming from his unconscious body. You had so many questions and on the Inside you were sure that you were screaming however on the outside you couldn't move, paralysed by fear for the man you called dad.
The flashing lights and rush to the hospital told you it was something serious, you knew it was something serious even more so when the nurse asked you to sit in the waiting room before rushing off to assist with the situation.
You felt cold as you dialed your mothers number, hearing the worry flood the line as you explain the very minimal information you had. She had said she was at work but would be at the hospital within the hour or however fast traffic would allow.
Your next call was to Na-Rae, not wanting to be alone you called her twice before she picked up, giving you some reassurance before being requested to join a meeting by her boss, of course she was at work. It was lunch time on a Friday, everyone was at work.
The sterile smell and white walls provided you no comfort as you sat watching the clock, jumping at every sound only to check and see if anyone was coming to deliver you news only to sot back in defeat after realising they were not.
You had watched the clock for twenty five minutes before you felt your phone buzzing, without looking you answered.
“Eomma?”
“Sorry wrong person.” Usually Hoseoks voice was once you had come to like, the happiness he embodied bringing light to your day but not today.
“S-sorry I can’t talk right now.”
He must have heard something in your voice that let him know you weren’t doing good. “Oh hey, Are you okay?”
Maybe it was the lack of support you had in that moment, maybe it was the adrenaline wearing off and fear setting in but either way you broke down the second he asked the question, light sobs flooding the line. “It’s my dad, I don’t know what happened.”
“Do you need help? Where are you?” He asked you could hear him moving as he spoke the familiar sound of the studio doors opening.
“I’m at Hanyang, he was just o-on.. he… I got there and he was on..on the floor.” You choked, finding it hard to catch your breath.
“Do you need me to come? I can get away for a while.”
“It’s busy, too - it’s just busy for you it’s okay it will be fine he is strong it will be fine my eomma is coming she will be here soon it will be fine he will be fine..” you rambled on, becoming breathless as tears stained your cheeks.
“It’s okay I know how to get around in a disguise. I can be there in 15. Keep talking to me okay? What happened exactly?” You heard a car door open and close, the ignition starting up indicating he was on his way.
“He was on the floor, i.. he…I was going to visit my parents but he was on the floor his pulse it was so.. so weak it was so weak I was scared he had died.” You felt like you couldn’t breathe, a weight on your chest preventing it.
“Take a deep breath for me okay? Let’s do it together? In for 3 hold for 5 out for 3 can you do that for me?”
“Oh okay.” You knew you were blubbering, your sons still interrupting your speech but you didn’t care.
“Perfect, such a good job, breathe in with me now”
1, 2, 3
“Now hold for five.”
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
“Now out for three.”
1,2,3
“Let’s do it again okay?”
You repeated the action, breathing in an out a few more times before you felt yourself calm. Once you did you finally took him in, noticing the blonde hair in replacement of his usual brown. Definitely a wig.
“You came?” The words came out as more of a question than a statement. “I- thank you.”
“Don’t thank me, this is where I was needed most. What about your eomma?” He asked, looking around to try and find the woman who was yet to arrive.
“She’s on her way there was work or something I couldn’t listen much.” You mumbled, unsure of he could hear you but also unable to bring yourself to care much.
“Ms. YN?” You both stood as you heard your name being called.
The nurse rushed over, a frown across her face only preparing you for the worst as you reached for Hoseoks hand, you hadn’t considered the action before pulling away only to have him reach for your hand again, squeezing with a necessary reassurance.
“Are you YN?” The nurse asked, more of a formality than anything else. Continuing after you have her a nod. “Your father has had a heart attack, it isn’t extreme in this moment but the doctors suspect he will need a coronary bypass. The doctor asked I come and give you an update but that’s all I have at the moment. We are going to do all we can. Is there anything I can get for you?”
“How-“ you stuttered utterly confused. “He is healthy, he doesn’t work too hard or sit around too much, he eats healthily. How could he have a heart attack?”
“As I said it’s still early stages we are going to be running more tests I just wanted to let you know as of now he is what we would deem in an area of safety. Is there anything else you need?”
“No I just- how long until I can see him? How long until the tests are finished?” You asked, voice raising in fear. If it wasn’t for Hoseoks touch you were sure you’d have had another panic attack by now.
“It could be a few hours yet, the second it’s safe to do so I will come and get you.” You knew she had told you everything she could do you simply bowed, giving her a small thank you before she rushed off just as urgent as she had come to you.
You stood in silence, staring at the mottled pattern on the white flooring. Hobi not making a move to remove his hand so neither did you. You felt numb, the tears rolling down your face didn’t stop but they were no longer some thing your were actively aware of. Everything just numb.
“Yn?” Hoseok called tentatively. “Are you okay?”
“My dad is never sick.” Was all you could say, memories of him chasing after you as a child flooding your mind painfully. “He cant die.”
“Hey.” He pulled you to face him, wiping off a tear from your chin. “He isn’t going to die, I’m sure he is strong and he has you and your eomma, the doctors here are good hyung came here a few years ago for a treatment and they were fast and efficient. The doctors will do everything they can. People survive these things every day. You can’t give up hope or let yourself become overwhelmed. It’s okay to shed your tears but don’t tear yourself because you’ll need all the strength you can muster.” His smile didn’t falter once and for some reason it only brought you more comfort. The realism of his words helping you to analyse the situation in depth, people do survive these things daily and having hope wouldn’t hurt. Your mother would arrive soon and she would need much more support than you did.
You were thankful for Hoseok.
You both sat back down, hands standing entwined. You wanted to ask if he was comfortable but you didn’t have the energy to, words seemed too far and few.
“YN?” You stood instantly at the sound of your mother voice, you ran straight to her, hand falling from hoseok as you embraced her in a hug. You both cried, leaning on each other for support as you guided her to the seat beside you. “What did that say?” She asked as you handed her some water.
“They think it’s a heart attack they are doing tests I don’t know much I was so scared he was- I - I never want to see that again.” You sobbed, Hoseok leaning around to hand you a tissue.
“Who are you?” Your mom leant forward to face Hobi whom had assumed a firm standing spot a few feet away.
He bowed to her before sitting down. “I’m a friend of YNs. I called and heard she was upset so I came to comfort her. If you’d like me to leave I will I just wanted to make sure Yn wasn’t alone.”
“Thank you for being here, I was worried she wouldn’t be okay here alone. You can stay.” Your mother replied, forcing a smile as best she could. Hoseok did just that and sat down.
“What’s his name?” Your mom whispered, leaning closer to you preventing hobi hearing.
It must not have been close enough because he cleared his throat. “I’m Hoseok.”
“Oh.” Your mom sighed, hand holding yours. Your mother introduced herself, insisting he called her eommani.
The conversation fell flat after that, only occasional asks from Hoseok if you needed anything to eat or drink. “I could do with a water, eomma do you need anything?. “
Your mother was a stark contrast to her usual self, the fear fixed to her features, the permanent eyebrow crease and red raw eyes only made you feel worse because there was nothing you could do to help her and there was nothing she could do to help you. “I’m okay. Please go with her.” Your mother looked over to hobi, whom only nodded back with a smile.
“There’s a vending machine down here.” He explained, his usuals politeness still showing as he held the door open for you. “How are you feeling?”
“I’ll feel better once I see him. I feel so bad Hoseok, I should have gone to see him sooner.” You were brought into a hug as you began crying again, uncontrollably so. “I feel so bad.”
“This isn’t your fault. You can’t tell if seeing him would have changed anything, you did as much as you could.” If you hadn’t been so upset you’d feel ridiculous about the way you were crying in from of him, you’d remember to tell him how grateful you were another day. “Let’s go and get that water okay?”
You nodded, bringing a hand up to whisk the tears away. “My mom knows who you are, she just didn’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“That’s okay. I’ll tell her when we get back she doesn’t have to worry.” He pulled out some coins as you got to the vending machine, slipping them in before you could say anything. The waters dropping down the scute within seconds. “Here.”
“You really won’t get in trouble by the company for being here right?” You worried, for himself and partly for your job. “I wouldn’t want to get you into trouble.
He laughed, quietly as though not to disturb the natural silence of the hospital. “No, they don’t really care what we do in our private lives. As long as I don’t get seen doing something illegal then it’s fine.”
“So just no arson or murder, total normal activities for an idol.” You managed to choke up, his laugh a little louder this time.
“Unfortunately no.” He walked behind you as you headed for your seat, rounding to crouch next to your mom. “Eomma-nim?”
“Oh thank you Hoseok-ssi.” She took the water from his hands, thanking him once again before taking a sip.
“It’s okay, I wanted to say that you don’t have to worry about making me uncomfortable. I’m here as YNs friend, please don’t feel as though you have to monitor yourself to accommodate me.” You’d known from the day you met him that Hoseok was a great person, this only solidified that thought. The soft look on his face as he spoke to your mother only made you all the more grateful he was here in this moment.
“Thank you for being here and for being a friend to my daughter. I’ll try to be mindful to that, I’m still not up to all the news so forgive me if I speak inaccurate.” You felt a little better seeing the smile your mother wore. Hoseok went to open his mouth, stopping as the doctor approached you.
“Your father is awake, you’re welcome to see him if you’re ready?” He asked softly, looking from you to your mother.
“Eomma?” You asked, looking towards her as she nodded enthusiastically.
“Yes please take me to my husband.” She all but begged, pushing in front of you to follow the doctor.
You wanted so badly to jump on your father, hugging him until all felt right in the world but the abundance of wires connecting him to various machines prevented you so you settled for kissing him on the head. Whispering an I love you as he wrapped his hand around yours. Your mother copied you, resting as close as possible to the man as possible.
Your father had always been a strong man, he had carried you from the car or couch to your bed most nights, not just physically but emotionally. He rarely cried although he continuously encouraged your own emotions.
“Why is my daughter sad?” You choked a sob at his rough voice, you could hear the exhaustion in it.
“Just worried about you appa.” You smiled as best you could. “How do you feel?”
“I feel better now my lovely wife and daughter are here. Who’s that lurking by the door.” Even in this state your father was overly attentive.
“That’s hoseok-ssi you explained. A friend of mine appa, what have the doctors said?”
“Ah, I see.” He smiled. Looking towards your mother before smiling at you. “I’m okay for now. The doctor said I would need blood thinners but it was a relatively unserious heart attack. I was just being dramatic I wanted my daughter to come and see me”
“Appa!” You half cried and laughed. Squeezing his hand. “I’m here I’m not going anywhere.”
“That sounds everything but okay dear.” Your mother spoke, her eyes still red.
“The doctor said he would be back to explain it all better soon.” Your dad mumbled, brushing your hair from your face. “Your appa isn’t going anywhere for a very long time.”
“You scared us.” Your mother whispered, you felt her pain. It was the most terrifying moment of your life. “Im going to start making healthier meals, we will start taking walks. Those things are usually good right?”
Your dad sighed heavily. “Honey we can think about that later. For now I’m okay. Let’s wait for the doctor.”
“yn?” You turned to Hoseok who had come further into the doorway, you looked to your dad who only nodded back at you. You quickly let go of his hand, walking over to the rapper.
“Is everything okay?” You mustered hale a smile.
He nodded. “I’m okay, I just had a call there’s an issue at work.”
“It’s okay if you have to go, is there anything I can do?” You asked, wanting to pay him back for the kindness he had showed you.
“No it’s okay, I’m sure Hyung can fix it. It’s just a song not sounding right. I’ll tell Sejin-ssi what happened today, take the next few days with your family.” You wrapped your arms around him, the hug the only way you could thank him for not only being there but taking the time to put you first.
“Thank you so much for everything Hoseok. I promise to repay you in any way I can. I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t come today.”
He shook his head, hugging you back. “Don’t thank me, seriously.”
After a few minutes you released him from the embrace. “Let me know when you got to work okay?”
“I will. Take your time. You’re strong.” He gave you another smile before saying goodbye, you turned back wanting to be besides your dad for as long as possible.
Your mother mouthed a thank you to him, not speaking about the way he stood to watch you for a few more moments or the way his smile lingered on the corner of his lips as he eventually turned away.
That was none of her business.

oh shit? whats that skanking this way? are those some more summer songs? are those some summer songs spliced seamlessly alongside some ska since Skaugust started? seems interesting, maybe u should pick em up and take a listen if u get the chance... might be the rudest sounds of the SKAmmer...
🎺spotify link ⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜ yt link🎺
notes on each ⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛ below the cut :3
Remember Summer Days - Anri: my city pop kick has not ended as you will continue to see. its the kinda shit that makes me wanna be taken on a warm evening drive. yeahh bitch i control the music and im not even driving >:3 sorry. umm also the horns make the song fit our skankin tone this time around so very well. they are like sisters <3
Car Song - Danny L Harle, MC Boing - speaking of drives! if, say, you are ever driving in a car, or perhaps playing music in a car this would be the track to signal to those around u that u are doing those things. i just love mc boing also. so much dumb hype that i cant help but follow his lead and bounce along. check out his like three other songs if u get the changce soun
Death Grips is Online - Death Grips: i was looking at my 'summer rewind' on spotify and this was apparently a death grips song i had listened to a lot a few years ago just without getting into any more death grips after that? it makes sense tho i was listening to a lot of igor of tyler the creator fame around that time. i was probably like ooooh this has that hard cunchy igor bass i like. and was like 😂 what the heck is the rest of their stuff tho seriously tihs is craazy 😂. probably is how i was like back then. tch. fool.
Flaunt It/Cheap - Rae Sremmurd: amen break waveform tattooed on my forehead running up to u voice HEY U SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS SONG THEY. HEY> THEY RAP OVER AN AMEN BREAK ITS GOOD. okay thats misleading they only do that for a bit but after that the flow is very amen break inspired..but then beat switch thats still very good i love a good beat switch and all.... i just wish he kept spitting over that pure amen break sample. paws in pockets kicking the dirt as i walk away.....
Helium - Ecco2k (Drain Gang Archives): comes back excitedly to talk about draing gang ^w^. this time around our drain gang entrance is actually a bootleg posted by a drain gang leak aggregator on spotify. in case u were wonering this is probably the best of those unreleased/leaked songs ........... ecco's voice fits this song so well with all his falsetto stuff (get it it's like helihey it's like a helium balloon get it his voice it's hifh) but he also does that on his other songs bc he's a beautiful angel. GOd and his pouty fucking sighs in the chorus god i just wann[
Merlin's Staff - Ski Mask The Slump God: as i posted about before i love me some ski mask :) i hadnt listened to a lot of his new stuff until i watched his most recent interview with nardwuar. it is from here that i found this song bc ski mask references nardy on the track. HOWEVER. i would be remiss if i did not talk about my favorite lyric from this song that ive refrained from just posting as is. makes me GIGGLE every goddamn time.
"On the go like Mario, drive in a kart
Lisa Simpson, her head sharp"
now he does bring this back around to be a joke about her "giving brain" but just that line alone with the cadence gets stuck in my head. Li. sa. Simp. son. Her. Head. Sharp.
Morning Bell - Radiohead: speaking of... head? been catching up with ol mr. head recently on account of people i know whose music opinions i trust liking his tunes a lot (hai :3) this is My preferred morning bell btw.... for u music perverts out there who wanna know (hai :3) .... the drum groove is irresistible and the piano feels so cooold. cmon its in 5/4.... like im sorry to those whom i may have disappointed i do like amnesiac morning bell it feels a lot eerier.. yet brighter with all the bells? and the 'release me's in that one are very pretty but. kid a morning bell 👍
your clothes - Jane Remover: still havent listened to new jane BUT i have gone back to revisit old stuff i hadnt listened to in a while. upon listening to this one i was reminded Wow! Jane just doesn't miss! so congrats to Jane the Remover on being the only artist to have never left some songs thus far. may ur reign be long.
Last Summer Whisper - Anri: i leave you with this. the last whisper of summer. the last whisper of my city pop kick. the last whisper of some songs until fall right guys? do u guys hear a train?
⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️
⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️
Train to Skaville (Live) - The Selecter: ALLLLLLLLL ABOOOOOOOAAAARRRD. THIS TRAIN. IS BOUND. FOR. SKAVILLE!!!!!!!!! wait oh shit i can't leave yet i have a train to catch 😳someone made a joke to me last year about this song (i believe it was in September they said 'the train to skaville has left the station') and i straight up didnt get it at the time bc i was kind of a poser skahead when i made my skaugust post eheh nervous laughs bc i pretended to know it in that post ehehe ^^ . i do believe in ska fans beliefs (that ska is good, and anticapitalism probably) i just didnt know much about it besides like stupid horse did it that one time and that post about a kid getting an extra mozz stick.. anyway fast forward one year this fucking song is the idle music in my head. i pretend to be that funky ass bass on this song a lot too hehe. there are MANT live versions of this song on yt so i chose the most fitting one for the playlist but the one ive been listening to is the spotify one -w-
Superman - Goldfinger - this is the archetypal ska song to me. and u know why. that fucking post about that kid getting an extra mozzarella stick and ska plays in his head. from uo there ^. this is the song on that post. this is like capital s Ska to me. u know how people associate dnb with really slick games u grind on rails and skate/snowboard in. make the main character 12 and sucking ass on his first shitty skateboard rolling around his neighborhood and the soundtrack is now ska. only this song actually. it is good tho is the important thing
Never Meant - Skatune Network, JER:
.
I'm Not Okay (I Promise) - Skatune Network, JER:
.
Come on Eileen - Save Ferris:
.
Take On Me - Reel Big Fish: what can i say im a sucker for a ska cover? SKA-ver. heh so true
Old SKrAp - Jeff Rosenstock: i believe jeff rosenstock has done other things which i will get to eventually like all things but i know him specifically for having made an album called No Dream (that i... havent listened to :/) which released in 2020 (05/20 specifically). and then.. on 04/20 of 2021 (!!!!!!!!!!! WEEED WEED ITS WEED) he released Ska Dream, which, of course, is a complete reworking of No Dream but to be Ska instead. the original title of this song is Old Crap which they still sing in the song i just love how they put SKA into the title. all of them are like this btw.
stupid horse - 100 gecs: the OG. also s/o aimkid amv. s/o all aimkid amvs but thats beside the point. there was a point in 100 gecstory that there were maybe only a few interviews they did after 1000 gecs and ofc not many live performance videos besides minecraft festival screen recordings and maybe one video of a show from the secret tour. but there was an interview from skullcandy of all places with an accompanying live performance of stupid horse that i rewatched sevreal times :) ......... i thought the neon green and yellow set pieces and outfits were cool ok??? anyway fucking stupid horse yeah a swordfish dancer spend my money on a fishnet carousel go go go go goin so fast now go go go go goin so fast now.
Frog On The Floor - 100 gecs: and then they did it again :)
I Got My Tooth Removed - 100 gecs: and did it again :)
Two-By-Four-And-A-Half - Thee Goblins: as i said before ive been narding it up recently with some nardwuar interviews. my favorite thing about him is his elusiveness as like. a guy who does things besides being nardwuar. and my favorite story about him doing other things is that on his quest to interviewing kurt cobain, he tried talking to dave grohl and somehow dave recognized nardwuar from a band he's in (this band Thee Goblins :3). but the band wears masks when they perform so u cant see its nardwuar. and he still knew it was him without the mask and i guess felt enough respect for nardwuar in that moment to decide to get him an in with kurt, which did come to fruition BTW. anyway this song is a SKA SONG by NARDWUAR himself.... this isn't on the yt playlist unfortch but there is a good video of the nardman himself and others as thee goblins.
Ska Sucks - Big D and the Kids Table: found this one while just ska-ouring ska-tify for more ska. and idk theres just something in a good subversive title (and lyrics if u venture to take a listen >w< ).anyway this ska doesn't suck its quite good actually :) this is a theme in ska if u could not tell. being quite good not sucking. sorry if that was unclear.
yyyaWWWn ummmmmmmn.. okay This is ewher i leave u.. with all the skanking ive been doing i believe ive kicked up a month long ska storm... but i hear there are some pretty rude winds forecasted to come in later today so oerhaps keep ur ears to the wind on that front 😳... um anyway peels off in my car i am sooooo licensed to operate leaving u behind with this helpful guidento steer your path. and this, thjs last SKA-mmer whisper, is how ill leave u until fall music fans :3 <3

Chapter Summary: Rae's first day at her new school ends up being worse than she could have ever imagined.
Words: 3.2k
Warnings: language, mentions of missing people, leukemia
Notes: Thank you to @infinisonicosm for the fic idea!!
-----------------------------------------------------
Rae didn’t text Jake. Instead she remained trapped in the confines of her new home, doing anything she could to keep her mind off Jake and whatever his deal was. Whenever her mind wandered to him and Sam and Josh and Sam’s friend, she put a new record on her turntable and cranked the volume all the way up to drown out her thoughts. Occasionally she’d peer out her window, worried she would see Jake standing down on the sidewalk, but he was never there. Maybe he understood that he had crossed a line.
Monday rolled around a lot faster than Rae liked. That morning she woke up with anxiety churning in her stomach, her brain already thinking of viable excuses to get out of walking through the front doors of the high school. She didn’t want Jake to confront her about not contacting him, she didn’t want Josh to talk to her in his icy voice, and she didn’t want to be the new kid in school. She yearned to be back in Folsom, surrounded by her long-time friends, going to a school that was big enough that it was impossible to stand out. Rae liked staying tucked in the background for the most part, but it seemed like that was going to be a challenge in this small town.
Despite wanting to stay in bed for the rest of her life, Rae forced herself downstairs to the kitchen where she could fix herself a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. Morgan was already there, shoving the pack of tampons that Rae had given him into the front pouch of his brand new backpack.
“You ready for your first day?” Rae could do nothing to make herself sound enthusiastic.
“Much more than you are,” Morgan chirped back. He dropped his backpack by his feet and redirected his attention back to a bowl of yogurt and fruit that he had fixed for himself. “I’m ready for a new start.”
Rae shrugged. “That’s a nice way to think about it.”
“I’m gonna tell people my uncle is Vin Diesel.”
“Thanks for letting me know so I can back you up on that one.”
Rae and Morgan’s father drove them to Frankenmuth High even though it was only a fifteen minute walk away. Rae knew it was because he didn’t want Morgan to over-exert himself, but she also appreciated that it lowered the chances of her running into Jake. What she hadn’t expected, though, was for Jake and Sam to be standing at the front steps of Frankenmuth High, scanning around for her.
Jake perked up at the sight of Rae as she slid out of the backseat with her head down, and rushed to her side.
“I was worried something happened to you,” he greeted her, looking relieved.
Behind him, Sam shook Morgan’s hand and introduced himself.
“I don’t want to talk to you,” Rae told Jake under her breath. Jake backed away from her in shock.
“Huh? What did I do?” He didn’t sound angry, just baffled.
“It doesn’t matter,” Rae was short. She was having a lot of trouble looking him in the eyes. “Just, leave me alone.”
“Rae, wait,” Jake said, but Rae was already hurrying through the front doors. Morgan had been in the middle of chatting with Sam about Michigan sports teams, but he rushed to catch up to Rae when he saw her speed away. Once they entered the crowded hallway, he reached out and put a soft hand on her shoulder to slow her down.
“You good?”
“I hope.”
Rae was a bit disappointed that she didn’t have someone to show her around the campus so she wasn’t aimlessly wandering around, but she was also relieved to be away from Jake. Her morning was relatively mellow: she liked her teachers well enough and met a few classmates who seemed kind. Things were starting to feel like they could maybe be normal, which was a relief.
Rae strolled out of her US history class and searched around to find a place where she could relax during their ten minute break. She settled for a bench that overlooked some outdoor basketball courts and slid her backpack off to retrieve a snack. While she fished around her messy bag, she hoped that Morgan was doing well and making friends. She hadn’t seen him since they went their separate ways for their first period classes, but she felt a knot form in her stomach at the thought that Morgan was hanging around Sam. She unwrapped a breakfast bar and took a large bite as she considered the best way to tell Morgan he should stay away from that kid. A familiar voice spoke behind her.
“Jake ditch you?” Rae’s arms broke out in goosebumps. She slowly turned back and was face to face with Josh, who was smirking at her. She sealed her lips shut and shook her head in the hopes that was enough to get him to go away. It was not. Josh joined her on the bench, notably making an effort to give her some space as he sat at the far end. “I feel like we started off on the wrong foot.”
“You could say that,” Rae retorted, immediately regretting that she had engaged with him in conversation. He was going to stick around now.
“I don’t know what Jake told you, but I’m really not a bad guy,” Josh’s tone was warmer, the chill gone. “If anything, you should probably steer clear of him.”
“Trust me, I am.”
Josh looked intrigued. “He must have really screwed things up.”
Rae knew that she shouldn’t say anything but, at the same time, she was curious if Josh had any insights about Jake to help her understand what she was dealing with.
“He’s just, I don’t know, kinda weird?” Rae started.
Josh gave a merry laugh. “That’s one way to describe him.”
“He was really nice to me, don’t get me wrong but, I don’t know, I think it would be best if I kept my distance.”
“What did he do?”
“He, uh, showed up at my house. I never told him where I live.”
Josh’s face was scrunched in a mixture of confusion and disturbance.
“Fuckin weirdo,” he murmured.
“Okay, good, I’m glad I’m not overreacting,” Rae breathed out a sigh of relief. Morgan hadn’t been nearly as troubled as she felt after Jake left the other night. He reasoned that Jake must have known the area well, and was aware that their house had recently been bought. Rae attempted to convince him to think otherwise, but she found that it was challenging for her to find the right words to describe why she was suddenly so nervous about Jake. Explaining that it was another “gut feeling” wasn’t enough to get Morgan on board.
He just kept repeating, “He seems like a nice guy.”
“No, he’s got to respect your territory,” Josh spoke, starting to look fired up. Rae regretted saying anything to him. “He should know that, of all people.”
“What does that mean?” Rae was desperate for answers. “Does this have something to do with your beef?”
“You could say that.”
“Could you say more? Because I’m getting really tired of the cryptic talk. I just want to know what the hell is going on with you guys and this freaky town.”
Josh shot her an apologetic smile and shook his head. “That’s a can of worms you don’t want to open, sorry.”
Rae wanted to protest that that was actually exactly what she wanted to do, but the warning bell rang, indicating that they had to make their way to their third period class.
“Where are you headed?” Josh asked. Rae was thrown off by how kind he was being to her. She wondered if he had any ulterior motives.
“Biology,” she answered with caution.
“With Mr. Dalton?”
“Uh huh.”
“Cool, I’ll walk you there.”
Rae didn’t protest as Josh popped to his feet and waited for her to gather her things. They set off for the far end of the school, where the labs were tucked away, and Josh attempted to make some friendly small talk.
“Where are you from, new girl?”
“California.”
Josh let out a long whistle. “Frankenmuth is one hell of a downgrade.”
Rae attempted to break the news to Josh as quickly as possible, like ripping off a bandaid. “We moved so my younger brother could start chemo; he’s got leukemia.”
A look of sadness washed over Josh’s face. “I’m so sorry to hear that.”
“It is what it is.”
“But still, it’s shitty.” Josh stopped, and looked to be thinking hard. He sounded out his next words like he wasn’t sure if he should be speaking them aloud. “I know a thing or two about leukemia, I might be able to offer some help.”
Rae raised an eyebrow. “What do you know about leukemia?”
“My, uh, mom is in the medical field. She specializes in that kind of stuff. You know, blood.”
“That’s cool,” Rae trailed off. She wasn’t quite sure what Josh was offering her, but she figured to leave it at that for the time being. She knew Morgan wouldn’t be happy that she was telling classmates about his illness; he had made it pretty clear that he wanted to have as normal of a high school experience as he could. But, then again, it seemed like a good chance to get a second opinion on how to make sure Morgan bounced back. “I mean, if it’s not out of you or your mom’s way, that would be nice.”
“For sure,” Josh nodded. He reached into his back pocket and retrieved an older iPhone that made Rae do a double take. She hadn’t seen that generation iPhone in well over 5 years. Josh unlocked it quickly with a 6 digit passcode and went into his contacts. “Give me your number and I’ll hit you up.”
Rae looked down at the phone, blew out a “eh, what the hell?” sigh, and grabbed it from him so she could put in her number. So maybe two weird guys who had some strange conflict between each other having her phone number wasn’t great, but what was the worst that could happen?
As she tapped her fingers over his phone screen, she saw Jake approaching them out of the corner of her eye and immediately tensed. He seemed to slow down at the sight of Rae and Josh, but then he put his head down and powered away. Rae could feel her shoulders drop in relief that Jake had chosen not to make a scene, though she still felt on edge.
She handed Josh his phone back, and he scanned over her number to make sure that it looked legit. The minute warning bell sounded above them and Josh held up the hand that was carrying his phone in a wave to Rae.
“I better go,” Josh excused himself, nodding back in the direction they had come from, completely oblivious to Jake’s recent presence. “I don’t want to be tardy for English on the first day. You know, I gotta make a good first impression.”
“You could learn a thing or two about getting better at that,” Rae found the words escaping from her mouth before she could stop them. That made Josh stop but, instead of frowning, he let out a jovial laugh.
“You’re not wrong,” he agreed, and then was on his way. Rae shook her head, still struggling to believe the strange triangle she had found herself trapped in, and stepped foot in her biology class.
School let out at 3:45 and, even though Rae’s dad was parked out front to pick her and Morgan up, Rae opted to walk home instead. She needed some space to reflect on her day before her parents started to hound her, demanding to know how her first day went, and how many new friends she had made. Rae had to find the right way to tell them that the people she met were nice, but she had eaten lunch alone. A part of her had expected Jake to come back around to talk to her during their break, but he was nowhere to be seen. She wondered where he had been hiding.
Rae waved goodbye to her dad and Morgan, sending them off so she could be on her own, and then trudged in the direction of their house. The humid air made her feel sluggish in her steps, and the searing sun overhead left sweat dripping down the sides of her face. Rae wiped the perspiration away with the back of her hand and made a small grunt of disapproval. She was going to enjoy a tall glass of lemonade when she got home.
She hurried her pace at the thought of the refreshing treat, and pondered who she could befriend to distance herself from Jake and Josh. There was a girl who sat behind her in orchestra class that seemed shy, but nice. Rae made a mental note to formally introduce herself the next day and ask if they could eat together. She hoped the girl didn’t speak in codes like Jake and Josh seemed to.
Rae was nearly to the edge of the campus and the students around her started thinning out, moving in all different directions to get to their respective homes. Rae only saw the long stretch of sidewalk ahead of her and focused on trying to pinpoint where it ended. There was no end in sight.
“What the fuck?” she heard a voice bark to her right, which made her slow down. She hated how nosy she could be sometimes.
Lo and behold, maybe about thirty feet away in front of the chain link fence that wrapped around the exterior of the school’s baseball diamond, Jake and Josh were standing in close confrontation. It looked like Josh had been the one to instigate things because he was hovering over Jake, his hands balled into tight fists ready to strike at any moment. In comparison, Jake’s eyes darted around, looking for an escape route. Rae was entirely stopped, gaping at the scene in front of her, but neither Jake nor Josh seemed to notice her.
“You just showed up at her house?” Josh’s voice raised. “What were you thinking?”
Shit, Rae thought as her stomach dropped. They’re talking about me.
So, like any rational person would do, Rae crept closer to the two boys and ducked behind a tall oak tree to keep out of sight while listening in.
“I wasn’t thinking, okay?” Jake pleaded, trying to get Josh to calm down. “I admit that was stupid. But she’s not talking to me anymore, so you should be happy.”
“I don’t think you understand the magnitude of the situation,” Josh’s voice quieted, speaking through grit teeth. Rae had to lean closer to make out what was said next. “She’s speculating about us. She’s gonna find out.”
Rae’s heart thundered in her chest.
“She won’t,” Jake’s confidence was obviously wavering as his words raised into more of a question than a firm statement. Josh immediately picked up on this.
“Look, I fucking hate you, and you hate me. But this is something we’ve got to work together on. The normies can’t know, that’s the agreement. You, of all people, should know that.”
“Don’t you dare bring that up,” Jake hissed.
“I don’t know how you haven’t been thrown out of town,” Josh was off and running. “If your dad wasn’t so popular, you’d be dumped in the woods by your own kind, left to fend for yourself.”
“I know you wish that’s where I was,” Jake’s voice quaked with rage.
Josh let out a taunting laugh. “It’s where you belong.”
Rae peeked around the tree and saw Jake swinging his fist back, ready to make contact with Josh, who was glaring back at Jake with discontent. Jake would have slammed his fist into Josh’s nose if Sam hadn’t run up behind him and pinned his arms behind his back. Jake called out in shock at his brother’s sudden appearance and wiggled around to try and break free. Josh took a few steps back to steer clear of Jake’s flailing, and watched the two siblings wrestle with each other.
“Sam!” Jake was out of breath. “Get off me!”
Although he looked like a twig, Sam somehow managed to hold onto his brother tight, keeping him from tearing out of his grasp to tackle Josh.
“Listen to me!” Sam’s voice cracked. Jake continued yelling at Sam to let him go.
“I think I’m gonna dip,” Josh cut in, having a hard time hiding how tickled he was by the sight of Jake being held back by his kid brother.
Sam looked over Jake’s head and pointed at Josh. “No! This concerns you too.”
Sam’s words rocketed from his lips and shocked Josh in place. He gaped at Sam, his body stiffened into a frozen pose. Jake had grown limp in Sam’s arms, so Sam released him from his grasp and pushed him off so Jake and Josh were standing side by side, facing the young boy.
“Someone stole Danny’s backpack from me.”
“Fuck!” Jake exclaimed, still riled up from everything.
“I have no clue who did it,” Sam looked between Jake and Josh. “It was in my locker, they must have taken it after lunch. But word got to the higher ups and the mayor is pinning the blame on us. He’s saying we broke the agreement.”
“What do we have to do with it?” Josh found his voice again and jabbed a thumb into his chest.
“Don’t you see?” Sam sounded exasperated, “They see us all as a threat. It doesn’t matter that Danny is my best friend, it doesn’t matter that the one before Danny was one of us, none of that matters. They need a scapegoat, and they’ve decided it’s us.”
“But it’s not you guys?” Josh checked with Sam.
“The smells in that backpack, Josh, that’s not a vampire or a werewolf.”
Rae’s head was spinning. They were all crazy, every single one of them. Nothing made any sense, and she suddenly felt a tug in her stomach that she needed to get away, and fast.
“We have to get out of here,” Jake echoed her sentiment as his head twisted around, trying to make sure that no one unwanted was close by. He sniffed a few times, and then raised an eyebrow.
“Rae,” his voice hardened. “Get out from there.”
Rae’s eyes darted around in a blind panic. How the fuck?
“Rae,” Jake repeated himself with more force. Rae slowly stepped out from behind the tree, her breath hitched in her throat. “You heard everything, didn’t you?” Jake asked, his voice still firm. Rae nodded her head, and noted that Josh was gazing on at her with sadness. “We have to go. Now,” Jake repeated himself. Rae didn’t like that he was suddenly pointing at her. “And that includes you too.”
“No way,” Rae shook her head hard.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Josh murmured to Jake.
“She’s a part of this now,” Jake turned to look at Josh.
Josh shrugged like there wasn’t much to argue, and Sam looked at Jake in panic.
“What are we gonna do?”
“Dad’s bar,” Jake decided. “We need to hide, and I need a quiet place to sort all this shit out.”

Smoke Em if You've Got Her (OLD, one shot)
Putting this back together was hell! If anyone knows how to easily take out html tags, please let me know. But I’m hoping once I get approved for ao3 again, that will make it easier. Let me know if you like this and if you prefer a03 or tumblr so I know what is best for the others.
Summary: Rae finds smoking annoying. Finn finds Rae annoying. Will they ever find common ground?
“Why do ya roll those rubbish things anyway? Isn’t it easier just to buy a packet?”
“Dunno,” Finn mumbled. “Just like em. Why? Want one?“
Rae wrinkled her nose. as she returned to her seat from the jukebox. "You’re the second person to try to get me smoking this week. What is it about me?"
Great question, Finn thought sourly. He saw a loud gob full of opinions, that’s about all he could see. Except that piercing stare she had, like she was analyzing him. He didn’t know what the hell she wanted to find. Pints, music, footy, the pub. No mystery there. He didn’t suppose Rae Earl knew much about just wanting to be left alone to get on with things.
She did everything so…at top volume. He could hear her laughing clear across the pub when he went to get drinks, guzzled that snakebite the other day like no one he’d ever seen before, and she had absolutely zero poker face skills. He thought that was pretty funny, actually, the way her eyes widened and even her shoulders got in on the act. Sometimes he wound her up just to watch the outrage cascade across her features.
He, on the other hand, knew how to keep his cool. Finn barely registered her yammering away about how his lungs were being poisoned, and yellow nails, and Christ knew what else. Fine. She was getting to him a bit. Who wanted a lecture on holiday? He had to put a stop to this.
Taking a long drag of his cigarette, Finn got a firm hold of Rae’s shoulders. Taking advantage of the (mercifully) silent O of astonishment those flapping lips arranged themselves into, Finn let a lungful of smoke rip right into her mouth. "Don’t knock it until you try it,” he mocked, eagerly awaiting whatever nugget of derision was about to come his way. Catching Rae Earl off guard was quite exhilarating, he had to admit.
Rae sat stone-faced, then brought her hand up to her lips, tracing a thumbnail across them, before jerking away as if she’d been burned. She rose abruptly, sending Archie’s pint sloshing across the table.
“Fucking hell, Rae! You’ve ruined my Rizlas!“ Finn protested. Rae merely fixed him with a stony gaze. "Maybe there’s a hair dryer in the ladies?” he begged. “Dry them out? I can’t have a smoke if they’re wet!"
"Moron,” Rae huffed. “You absolute moron.” And off she stormed, with a haughty Finn trailing her. “It were just a joke, Rae, damn. Relax. I just wanted to shut you up a bit, is all. So uptight and I hardly know ya.”
“Exactly,“ Rae replied. "You don’t know me. So stop. I don’t like….surprises is all.”
“Cause you think you’re last word on everything,” Finn crabbed. Should’ve known better. Rae had no sense of humor – that was clear.
“Right. I know it all. Totally in control. That’s me, all right,” Rae sneered. Finn didn’t feel like wasting a perfectly good retort. She wasn’t worth his time.
“Look, Mae, just buy me a new pack from the bar and that’s the end of it.“
Rae shrugged, and he was suddenly struck by how weary she looked. It was true, all he knew about her was she could pick a good song. One good song, anyway. Maybe he should back off.
“Truce?” Rae asked as she tossed a new pack of Rizlas on the table. “Yeah, alright.“ But Finn chuckled as he saw the little cartoon skeleton symbol she’d sketched on the cardboard packaging. It was true. Rae definitely had to have the last word.
——————————————
So he’d been wrong about Rae. Whatever. He wasn’t too proud to admit it. She could be pretty cool. She just had a, what d'ya call it? Facade. After that time he met her mum, Finn understood. You had to hold your own with a lady like that.
But he’d seen a whole different girl at the party. Didn’t even judge him when he cried. No, Rae wasn’t like other girls. She liked records and swearing and didn’t get manicures. God, Stacey used to make him sit and wait for ages while she got those French things. Rae’s nails were a proper mess. She was currently gnawing at them while Chop went on and on about the vault and the rave.
Who cared about some rave? Chop was just trying to impress Izzy anyway. Terrible idea. Izzy was sweet, but the kind of girl who shouted out the word during a game of Catchphrase. She couldn’t keep a secret.
“Hey,” he whispered to Rae. “Don’t let Chop annoy you. "He’s more random than duck shite sometimes."
"Oh, dear God,” Rae said, with a horrified gaze.
“What? Finn really didn’t understand her sometimes. Come to think of it, Chloe had been acting pretty bonkers herself. Maybe they were fighting or something. Girl stuff - like he needed to know.
Rae shook her head, reached over, grabbed one of his Rizlas, and began shredding it. Once the first was torn to bits, she snagged another. SORRY Rae sketched in wispy letters, the curve of the Y trailing off into a smoke-like curlicue.
"S'alright, I have more.” Finn tried to reassure her, tracing her denim-clad leg, but the tension never lessened. Trying to figure out Rae was one step forward, 3 steps back for sure. But he couldn’t stop trying lately. He’d always liked a good puzzle.
-—————————————-
“If my mum catches me drunk, she’ll freak! Wedding or no wedding!”
“That’s why I brought you to mine, you numpty. My dad won’t be home for hours.”
Uhoh. Was that too forward? Finn didn’t mean it like that. Rae was his,.his something. They weren’t just friends anymore, but they weren’t in love or anything. He was, but she didn’t say it back, so? But she didn’t run away screaming either. What was next? He really did suck at words.
Do you wanna put that down?” Finn asked with a nod towards the book clutched in her hand.
Wrong thing. You’re an idiot. Don’t ever bring that book up. It did seem pretty important, though. He was in it, which made him a little giddy, if he was being honest.
Rae placed her diary on the end table as they sat on the couch, but kept a wary eye on the book in the way one would a poisonous snake. “Ah, fuck!”she exclaimed suddenly. "I messed up."
Finn raised his eyebrows questioningly as she explained "Nobody knew that was my diary before. I could bring to the pub, no one cared. Now everyone knows why I have it. “Oh, what’s happened? Rae’s got her mental book.”
Well, we’ll just have to think of something else.” Finn didn’t know what made ‘we’ come out, but he liked it. His insides felt like they were glowing a bit. He thought for a minute, then grabbed a pen and a rolling paper. “Tell me something you hate,”Finn ordered.
"Smoking!" “Besides that,” Finn encouraged.
“Black licorice,” Rae said with a giggle.
“Retch. Who doesn’t?” Finn agreed. He scrawled the words on the paper, sprinkled in the tobacco, rolled and lit it. “The problems of Rae Earl, turned to ash.” Finn pronounced. “I’ll smoke em if you got them."
“You’re ridiculous,” Rae said, but Finn could see the corners of her mouth twitching.
——————————-
“You’re sure they’re staying the night at the hospital?”
“I promise,“ Rae said. "Now pass the spliff, God. You worry too much."
“Bad enough if she catches me stoned off my head, but if she finds out I deflowered her only child?” Finn shook his head in mock fear. “Please never use the word 'deflowered’ around me again,” Rae joked, but the smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. She snuggled closer to Finn.
“Hey,” she whispered, lips grazing his ear. “Finn.” No response. Sex was pretty tiring, especially for a whole seven minutes. Even sex wizards had to rest sometimes. Grabbing a Rizla, Rae scrawled what Finn had been too tuckered out to hear, before laying back with the joint.
Shielding her eyes from the sun, Rae groaned. “Now is that any way to greet someone you say you love?” an entirely too chipper Finn remarked. So mean.“ She didn’t even mind the little specks of tobacco clinging to his tongue. The morning breath? That was another story.
——————-
I can’t do this, Finn argued to himself. I’m not ready. Butt clenched between his teeth, he paced the same carpet path he’d been going over for 45 minutes now. What if I fail her? I’m not very handy. We hardly have anything saved! He flicked his cigarette into the nearby sink, immediately reaching for another paper. Not going to be able to pace myself today. Then his features softened. Of course. She really did know everything.
 No fear.
We’re a team.
Your ass is mine. Forever. And what an ass it is.
I love you.
She’d left a message on every one. Finn marveled as he sparked his lighter, but a hand came swooping in. “No time, mate. They’ve finished seating. Wait til you see Rae’s dress-Chloe let me take a peek." Finn let Archie straighten his tie one last time before they headed through the church doors.
———————–
“I’m not doing it! Shouldn’t you be?”
“I I can’t believe you, Finn! I never took you for sexist.“
“You know I’m not!” Finn said. “It’s not a mother-daughter thing, it’s a hypocrite thing."
“What, because we used to smoke pot?” Rae asked. “Mmmm, yeah, I don’t care about that shit. I care about raising a kid with some smarts. At least enough smarts not to get caught."
“Oh, right. Like that time Karim definitely didn’t catch you at anything,” Finn teased.
“Well, at least I didn’t leave my papers tucked into the pillowcase my mum still changes, even though I’m 14 bloody years old! And the stash under the bed. So unoriginal.“
Finn snickered. "Does she know you know?
"Well, I wrote BUSTED on every last paper and sprinkled them on the blanket.“
“Thank god you’re not my mum, is all I can say. She’ll be out of school in 20 minutes, so I suppose we wait. Think there’s anything in there to take the edge off?”
“You’re a dickhead, Finn Nelson.“
“Thank you, Mrs. Dickhead. God, I hate being old."
“It’s literally the worst,” Rae agreed. “Now let’s go have a cuddle before Cheech gets here.”

Rae settled comfortably into her chair, taking deep breaths and calming her mind; steadying herself for the coming confrontation with Soldier Boy. She hoped he'd remember her more easily this time, but that wasn't guaranteed. He was as likely to kill her this time as any other.
But she squared her shoulders and closed her eyes, letting her mind reach out and connect to Ben's. As though she was pushing through veils of gauze, she emerged into his consciousness, and screams echoed around her. Her immediate fear was that she was entering into one of his nightmares again, and her stomach dropped. His nightmares were devastating.
But within a few seconds it became clear that this was anything but a nightmare.
The woman in the bed let out another scream of pleasure and bucked her hips up towards Ben's face where it was buried between her thighs. He growled quietly and snaked his hand up to squeeze her pale, fleshy breast, bringing forth a deep moan from her throat.
He was very, very naked.
Rae snatched herself back to reality, her cheeks burning hot and her body flushed as she sat in the temperature-controlled room, and tried to catch her breath. She looked through the glass into the room where Soldier Boy sat across from her, strapped to a chair. He was shirtless, khaki green hospital scrubs covering his lower half.
As she looked at his bare torso, she couldn't help but see the way his bicep and tricep muscles had flexed, corded and tight, as he'd moved his hand up the woman's body. Though she saw him half naked all the time, there was something incredibly alluring and sexy about the way his back muscles rippled beneath his skin as he shifted between the woman’s legs.
Her mind now had much more vibrant images to associate with the beautiful, sculpted muscles she could see displayed right in front of her. Looking at him now, his body conjured up an image of him on the bed, the woman’s hand buried in his long locks, tugging at them as she writhed with pleasure - Ben’s mouth working her into a feverish delirium.
Rae peered through the spotless glass to where Soldier Boy sat, no more than twenty feet away, and focused on the wide sweep of his soft lips, and lush, sensual mouth.
What would it feel like on my skin?
Rae shook herself like a wet dog, horrified by her unprofessional, and completely inappropriate train of thought. Determined to pull herself out of her ridiculous, desperate fascination, she cleared her throat and focused her mind once again on penetrating into Ben’s consciousness.
Hopefully he’ll have moved on to a new memory by now. Rae thought.
But, unfortunately, he seemed to have spent a lot of time with this woman because as Rae walked through the veil of his mind, Ben was still stretched out below her, his big hands pushing her knees flat against the bed as his tongue flicked against her, doling out what sounded like slow exquisite torture, judging by the unholy sounds the woman was making.
Standing at the foot of the bed, barely two feet away, Rae got quite the eyeful, front and center as it were.
Twisting her head away and trying to drown out the sounds and smells of sex and pleasure permeating the memory, Rae cleared her throat, and called to Ben gently. He didn’t hear her, or maybe he assumed it was just his partner calling his name. She tried again.
“Ben!” She called, sharper this time.
Finally, his tousled head came up to look back over his shoulder at her. He wiped away the dampness that glistened on his beard and gave her a once over, before giving her an entirely too wicked grin. He raised his thumb and forefinger to his tongue to gently remove a hair stuck there.
“Hey sugar. You next in line, or do you wanna come on in?” He dipped his head towards the panting woman. “Water’s warm.”
Rae bit her lip and gritted her teeth, trying to call on some sense of morality to help her through this entire situation. She took a deep breath and shook her head.
“No, Ben, it’s me, Rae, remember?”
He kept a sardonic smile on his face as he frowned at her, but then she saw recognition shift into his gaze and as it did the beautiful, naked woman disappeared and the room around them faded a bit.
Ben’s head twisted back to where the woman used to be and he let out a small growl.
“Fuck me.” He grumbled before looking back at Rae with extreme frustration and annoyance. “Are you fucking kidding me?”
Rae knew she was blushing and willed herself to stop it. “I’m very sorry to interrupt such a…a…an intimate memory,” she stuttered, “but, we really have a lot of work to do.”
Ben’s expression became heated as he rolled onto his back, his massive erection on full display. “Yeah, I got a job right here for you, sweetheart.”
Rae quickly looked away, but the image was burned into her brain and she swallowed, refusing to allow him to shake her, which was clearly what he was trying to do.
“Please put your clothes on, or at least cover yourself.” She said, using her best school marm voice.
She could hear the shrug in his voice. “Why? I guarantee we could have a lot more fun if you strip off and join me.”
Rae kept her gaze directed onto a dark mahogany dresser that shimmered like a mirage in the construct of Ben’s memory. “Ben, please.”
She heard him sigh, and from the corner of her eye, she could see him shifting around. When she looked back, she saw he’d pulled a sheet across his lap; she tried to ignore the way it was tented. His head was tilted slightly and he was frowning quizzically at her.
“Let me ask you something, doll -”
“Rae.” She interrupted him.
He waved a dismissive hand. “Whatever. Do you really look like this?” He said with a nod towards her.
It was her turn to frown. “What do you mean?”
“I mean,” he said slowly, “is this what you look like in real life? All strawberry blond curls, big blue eyes and absolutely fabulous tits?”
Rae rolled her eyes. “That’s not exactly how I would choose to describe myself, but yes, this is what I look like. It would take too much energy to hold onto a projected image of someone else while I’m here in your mind. I want to spend that energy on more important things.”
Ben studied her for a minute, his lascivious gaze roaming over her before he shook his head in disbelief. “A woman like you should be spoiled with fur coats, diamonds, and anything else your pretty little heart desires. Then you should be strapped to a fucking bed and ridden long and hard, till you can’t walk, and your completely fuck drunk.”
He said it all rather matter-of-factly, and Rae was trying not to let her shock show, or the fact that her heart was racing and warmth was pooling at her center.
“How the fuck did you end up as a scientist?” He asked with obvious disdain for the job.
Rae swallowed subtly and kept her voice cool. “I’m first and foremost a psychologist, actually, scientific research is a secondary interest. And I got where I am because of lots of hard work, kind mentors, and my big, fat, beautiful brain.” She frowned at him. “Oh, and by not being bullied into submission by assholes.”
Ben stared at her for a minute more before a slow, genuine smile spread across his face; she noticed the freckles that spread across his nose and cheeks.
She nodded towards the heap of clothing on the floor. “Now can you please put on your damn clothes?”
Ben kept his smile but squinted at her. “If it bothers you so much, why not just zap clothes onto me, since you’re controlling all this?”
Rae shook her head. “I’m not controlling any of this, actually. I’m simply here in your consciousness. And I promised myself that I wasn’t going to zap anything, or control anything if I came into your head. You’ve had more than enough people messing around in here. So, I’m just following where you lead, and maybe helping you down a certain path or two with some directed questions and conversation. But all the images here are yours, all the memories will be yours.”
Ben looked slightly unconvinced, but he slid down the bed so his feet rested on the floor, and reached for his clothes. Rae turned her head away as he pulled a pair of green cargo pants up over his hips.
Did he not put underwear on? Rae wondered and then was immediately grateful they weren’t inside her mind. Get a hold of yourself! She chastised.
“Kay.” He said, and she turned back to see him pulling a white t-shirt over his head. “I’m decent.”  He shrugged and threw her a cheeky grin. “Well, so to speak.”
“Thank you.”
She smiled at him, trying to get her thoughts back on track and off of the way the t-shirt clung to every muscle.
He clapped his hands. “Alright, Doc, let the head shrinking begin.” His expression was loaded with sarcasm. “What should we talk about first?”
“I’d like to start with your childhood. What was it like?”
Ben scoffed and shrugged, but he answered a bit too quickly. “It was fine, normal.”
Rae moved her hand in a circular motion to get Ben to continue. “And…?”
“And nothing.” He said. “My mother was dead, my father was an asshole, and I was a spoiled little prince of the kingdom.”
“I’m sorry you lost your mother.” Rae said softly. “When did she pass?”
Ben answered harshly. “I don’t know. I was about six, I think.” He shrugged again. “I barely remember her.”
But as he said it, the space around them began to dissolve and reshape itself into a large room filled with dark wooden furniture, the smell of dust and lilies were heavy in the air.
Ben looked around a little furtively. “What the fuck are you doing?”
Rae shook her head. “Nothing, your consciousness is just shifting into another memory.” As she finished speaking, far down at the other end of the room, a closed casket appeared. “Do you know where we are?” She asked.
He was quiet for a minute before he spoke. “I think it’s my mother’s funeral. Didn’t know I remembered this much about it.” He nodded and inhaled. “But yeah, I think that’s why I hate the smell of lillies.”
Suddenly, thundering in from the next room, came the absolutely enormous figure of a man in a black suit; he was well over ten feet tall and his face wore a grotesque, disturbing sneer as he barrelled towards Ben.
“Enough, Benjamin, for god’s sake!”  He yelled harshly right at Ben, who took a step back from him. “Do you want to grow up to be a man or a bloody milksop! Stop sniveling and straighten up.”
Ben turned to glare at Rae. “What the fuck are you doing?” He raged again. “Why does he look like that?”
Rae shook her head. “This is your father?”
Ben spoke through clenched teeth. “Not exactly - why is he like this?” He asked, waving a hand at his father’s towering and twisted features.
Rae shrugged helplessly. “This is how you remember him. I swear Ben, I’m not doing anything. This is just a memory from your childhood. The further away the memory, the more shaped by emotion it becomes, the less ‘real’ it is.”
Ben’s jaw clenched and unclenched and he narrowed his lips into a tight line. “You’re telling me, I remember my father as a giant, twisted ogre?”
Rae bit her lip. “The child in you does.” She said quietly.
Ben turned back to the horrifying version of his father, his face set in stone. “How do I get rid of him?” He asked, but before Rae could say anything, the monster threw up his hands and stormed away, yelling. “Your mother always wanted a little girl, guess she got one.”
Ben stared after him for a long time before turning back to Rae. “Well, this has been great fun, Doc but how about we head to somewhere more enjoyable, huh? Say, Monte Carlo, 1956?”
Suddenly the space around them was consumed with color and noise. Shifting people moved all around them and the scent of cigar and cigarette smoke surrounded them. Ben was suddenly dressed to the nines in a sleek, rat pack era tuxedo and shiny shoes. His golden brown hair was much shorter, parted to the left, and slicked in place. He held a set of dice in his fist that he let roll down the green felt top of the craps table they stood beside.
Rae felt her head swimming as she tried to adjust to this new memory; she also felt slightly out of place in her faded jeans and pale gray sweater.
“Seven!” Shouted a disembodied voice from the other end of the table, and Ben smiled at her a bit manically.
“See Doll, this is a lot more fun!”
Rae shook her head. “That may be, but it’s not what I’m here for, Ben. Now I’d like to go back to your mother’s funeral. I’d like you to tell me about her.” She had to yell to be heard over the cacophony of noise around her.
“What’s the point?” Ben shouted back, frustration etched into his flawless face. “What difference can going back there possibly make? She died almost a hundred years ago, what could I possibly get out of dwelling in that place?”
“Humor me!” Rae shouted into his ear, placing her hand on his forearm.
A heartbeat passed and then the deafening sounds stopped abruptly, the echo still ringing in Rae’s ears as they came back to the room that smelled of lilies.
Ben was still dressed in his tuxedo, and sat down heavily in a wooden pew that materialized behind him. Rae realized then, that they were in a church, as a high, arching ceiling formed above them.  She moved to sit beside him in the pew.
“Tell me about her.”
He was quiet for a few minutes, but Rae decided not to push him, and he rewarded her by sighing quietly and rubbing his fingers through his beard.
“She was beautiful.” He smiled softly. “At least she was to her six year old son.”
Rae smiled too. “I’m sure she was. All mothers are beautiful.”
Ben hummed his agreement and continued. “I remember she used to sing all the time, never any words, just la-las and doobie-doos.” As he spoke a soft voice came up from behind them, singing gently. A ghostly pale hand ran across Ben’s shoulder and he closed his eyes at the remembered caress.
He turned to look up at the woman standing beside him and then jumped back, nearly crushing Rae beside him. He stood up quickly and backed further away from the wispy, faceless woman who stood in front of him.
“Why?” He said, slightly horrified and pointing at her eerily blank face.
Rae stood up and moved beside him, taking up his hand and squeezing it. “Facial features fade from our memory over time. Like you said, it’s been nearly a hundred years; in your mind you remember your mother as someone soft, gentle, and loving.” She held a hand out towards his mother. “Those are beautiful things to remember, the rest are just details.”
But Ben was shaking his head and his voice was small when he spoke. “She should have a face. I shouldn't have forgotten her face.”
Suddenly he yanked his hand away from hers and stormed from the room, popping them both into a kind of gray, nothing space.
“I don’t want to talk about this! I don’t want to be here!” He turned back to Rae and grabbed hold of her shoulders, shaking her like a ragdoll. “This is all pointless bullshit!” He screamed at her.
Rae let him rattle her bones for a few more seconds before she calmly pushed against his forearms. “Let me go.”
Ben dropped his hands from her and spun away. “What is the fucking point?” He said, quietly this time, staring down at his feet.
Rae came to stand beside him and began to speak conversationally, just telling him a story, sharing, because she’d learned long ago that people gave more of themselves to people willing to do the same.
“When I was a kid, maybe about seven or eight, this jackass bully, Steven Fletcher, found me in the hallway after school one day, and shoved me into a supply closet. He jammed it closed with something, and I couldn’t get it open. I was only in there about ten minutes or so before a janitor heard me screaming and let me out. But it was pitch black, and it smelled dirty, and it terrified me.”
Ben looked down at her, and his usually confident, cocksure expression was long gone; he seemed tired.  “Kid sounds like an asshole. But what does that have to do with me?”
“I’m trying to explain why the memories from your childhood and the people in it are important. That happened to me more than twenty years ago, but I’m still terrified of small spaces, I avoid elevators at all costs, and I live in an apartment that has one whole wall of windows because I hate the dark.” She sighed softly. “We’re shaped by our childhoods, all the good and all the bad.”
After a moment Ben nodded, and Rae smiled at him. “I also kinda instinctively hate people named Steven.”
Ben arched his right eyebrow and then nodded. “Yeah, Steve McQueen was a dickhead. Good instinct.”
Rae laughed softly and then felt a slight shift in the space around them. She could tell that Ben’s consciousness would be fading soon, and she made a spur of the moment decision. She closed her eyes tightly and popped herself into a stunning, strapless, floor length gown - sapphire blue chiffon, with silver beading along the bodice; it was a dress she’d worn to a fundraising gala two years before.
Ben’s mouth dropped open for a moment before he snapped his jaw shut and frowned at her, confusion evident. She smiled warmly.
“You’re going to fall into a deep sleep soon, and I’ll be going, so I thought it would be nice to leave you with a good memory to sleep on.” She put her hand into the crook of his elbow and looked up at him. “So, lead the way back to Monte Carlo, Soldier Boy, and let’s have some fun before bedtime.”
Ben’s eyes got a dirty glint in them, confidence and cockiness sliding back into his expression. He moved his lips to the shell of her ear, his voice was low and suggestive as the noisy, colorful memory exploded around them again. “It would be more fun after bedtime.”
Rae rolled her eyes and shook her head as though her lower abdomen wasn’t full of butterflies at his suggestion. “Just roll the dice, big spender.”

Note
Your OCs' partners have been turned into frogs! Unfortunately, they also have been dropped in a pond, filled with other, identical frogs. How fast are they able to true loves' kiss them back?
Oooooh, that's fun!! Thank you!
Rae: It takes a few minutes, but they're quiet minutes. Really, she just takes a few steps back and waits for the chaos to sort itself out. She knows Warren will look for her, he always does, and it's definitely easier for him to locate her than vice versa.
Robin: The issue is not identifying the right frog. The issue is catching the right frog, because it's hopping around about twelve times faster than all the others in a vaguely brownish-green blur.
Madison: She just has Bravo scare them off, after verbally describing this plan out loud to the pond - the real frogs of course will scatter immediately, that's just natural instinct, but Alex should linger behind because he 1. heard the plan and 2. doesn't have that reflex, or at least not as strongly as the real frogs.
Ophelia: A couple buttons and buzzers from around her lab should do the trick. One frog hopping on one buzzer is coincidence, but the same frog pointedly hopping on each buzzer in turn is clearly intentional, and has to be Peter. It's the same premise as those dogs that use buttons to communicate.
Gia: Kinda just... sits around and waits for one of the frogs to do a particularly Kate-like thing? She's not sure what else to do. This might take a while.
Jasper: Tries to pinpoint Kyle through his emotions, which haven't changed too much and are still relatively distinct from the other frogs. At the very least, it'll get Jasper to the right general area of the pond, and they can do some more sussing-out from there.
Katherine: One she's in tune with the magic, she can kind of sense this spark within each of the museum exhibits that comes from the magic keeping them alive, and that includes Ahk. She can sense which frog is him, though she probably way overthinks the fairytale "kiss the frog" thing and starts cycling through all the frog-based myths and legends she knows to try and find a solution.
Kestrel: Simple. Turns into a frog themself and asks around a bit. It's a lot easier without the language barrier.
Quinn: I don't even know where to start with her. Even just assuming she actually does recognize what's going on, since I'm getting tired of just being like "oh well there's no magic here so she probably assumes it's just a hallucination", she still wouldn't know what the hell to do to fix it. Probably just, like, yell at the frogs to get them to hide and scatter and then sort through whichever ones are left.
Eris: Honestly... probably just sits down and starts kissing the frogs one by one. Time doesn't matter to them, salmonella especially doesn't matter to them, and it's just simpler than trying to work out some complex solution. It does take a while, though.
Nikoletta: I mean... in theory, she just has to wait a bit for the polka dots to start showing up again, right? They come around a few times a day when he's human, so she's got at most a few hours to wait before the physical cues start to show themselves. Not a fast solution, but an easy one.
Jimmy: Much like Eris, just works through the pond one frog at a time. Maybe Lars would have a more sciencey solution if their positions were switched, but it's the only thing Jimmy can really think to do. And it works, though it takes a while and Lars is never letting that story go.
Vivienne: Again, like Eris, probably just starts kissing frogs until it stumbles upon the right one. Once you get past the threat of salmonella (basically nil when you're a near-immortal siren or metahuman), it's really just the most straightforward solution out there.

Prison duo playlist analysis day 7 - Aengus’ Fool by Sleep Walking Animals
I FORGOT THIS EXISTED IM GONNA BE SO FR I BUT WAS COOKING MAYHAPS
You know how this works if you’ve been following as I do this- I think it fits both of them but I’m gonna try to break it down between them cause I can and it makes it easier.
Separately, I think it fits either of them looking at the other as their relationship develops and they learn the right way to love each-other because… I think it’s silly.
“Light as a feather but tough as a stone. When you’re barely together but never alone”
Mmm. Icarus. I think.
“When you’re barely together but never alone” feels so them coded I think. For multiple reasons- one being that they’re a part of the grove but they’re at the same time so isolated and struggling. Also- quixis things. They’re not fully themself. And also Icarixis- they’re never alone if they’re watching the worlds around them right? Almost like the community you can feel from a TV show you watch- taken from Sherbert’s post about them watching the world like a sort of sitcom.
“When a hand on the leg is the best you can do”
When they’re still learning how to comfort maybe they are more hesitant because they don’t want to overstep. They’ve comforted- we’ve seen it, and it’s adapted for who they are comforting. It’s mostly been with Athena and Rae where they got close to anything physically, though. With Centross in Looping the Beginning he took them up to his spot in the snow and they talked, they were able to help with words- they usually are but when there’s that layer removed maybe they take a while to figure out how to help with touch. They did do it through actions, showing up and splashing him with health potions counts.
Shrug- headcannons my beloved.
“Do you know that you bring out the best in me too? I know you can’t see it, but love looks good on you.”
Mmmm. Good line. Good lyrics.
In the end- future- they do bring out the best in eachother. Centross gets Icarus out of their house, and they joke and banter and get them to laugh and actually talk about how they’re feeling and stuff that happened to them. Me when they.
“I’ve been waiting since the last time I was here for you to come home”
THIS ONE
THIS LINE
YELLING NOISES
I think this is so extremely coded personally. With like- just- Quixis. I’ve been waiting since the last time I was here is coded. And they aren’t home- they’re in the worldport. And I cry mayhaps.
“Took a while, but now you’re here. And somehow nothing matters.”
You’re back and nothing else matters because I forgot you and you’re back and I didn’t even know I lost you in the first place.
“Call her to arms and she’ll fight to the death. Or you’ll catch sullen whispers from under her breath”
So you see how this would fit both of them-
So Centross. Centross my beloved. You and your silly healing redemption arc I care so much. It’s him- that’s all I need to say.
“She’s fire and ice, and she’ll carry you through. I know you don’t see it, but love looks good on you.”
Oh Centross and learning how to love and be loved. How to let someone in and exist in his space in that way. How to show someone the darkest parts of you and have them continue to love you anyway, showing you their faults and anger in return.
“I know you can’t see it, you’ll take it or leave it, but love looks good on you.”
THAT ADDITIONAL PIECE. That’s all. I needed to point that out.
“I’ve been waiting for the last time since I was here for you to come home.”
Oh Centross and your death not death. Oh Violet the beloved.
He ascended- he left for a bit. He couldn’t interact without interfering with the balance of the world. When he came back so much was lifted off of Rae and Fenris and everyone else’s shoulders- they no longer had to mourn (but they did- because he’s not the same as he was and they can’t continue to treat him like he is-) because he’s home. He’s back and they can place that love for him somewhere again.
Mmm. Me when prison duo did you know. That would be crazy guys, me, talking about prison duo? In this economy? /sarc/silly/lh/j

Redacted-tober 2023 Day Twenty-Eight
Prompt: Morgan & Song
Pairing: Morgan & Cutie, background Cutie/Geordi
cw: mild language
Summary: Morgan visits his simultaneous least and most favorite coworker- a spiritual sequel to Day Twenty-Six.
Read on AO3 here!
<- Previous Day
Morgan Kyne, known through the Department for his even-keeled manner and patient temperament, can only take so much.
“This has got to stop,” he says, slamming open the door to his coworker’s office and silently fuming as it slowly inches closed with a hiss. Like every lunch break for the past two weeks, Cutie is emanating saccharine joy, sitting at their desk, smiling goofily at the phone in their hand as it plays endless loops of Call Me Maybe and I Really Like You to their headphones. “If I have to hear another Carly Rae Jepsen song, I’ll report you to HR.”
“You can’t possibly hear my music playing,” Cutie says playfully, not looking up from their typing thumbs and brightly lit phone screen. “Don’t be a drama king, Kyne.”
“I could hear you singing through the walls,” he says, deadpan and disapproving, while Cutie just grins up at him with heart-eyed cheer and abandon. “Disrespectfully, I hope your boyfriend breaks up with you again.”
“No, you don’t!” they say with a scandalized gasp, chucking their rubber band ball at Morgan’s head.
“Read my mind, and see if I’m lying,” he snarks back, catching it with ease and rearing his arm back in a dryly playful threat before sitting in a chair across from them. “I take it your date went well?”
“Geordi stayed over last night and burned the pancakes this morning,” Cutie sighs dreamily before laughing at Morgan’s understated but clear expression of disgust.
“You’re incorrigible.”
“And you’re jealous. I take it your protege is not returning your texts again?” His face sours imperceptibly further, a slight curl of the lips all Cutie needs to see. “Tell me about it over lunch, my treat?” They get up, putting their things away and offering him an arm which Morgan takes as gladly as he is able while still irritated with them.
“It’s the least you could do.”
note: it really amuses me to imagine this Morgan because, like, we all have that one work bestie that there’s just no boundaries and no persona with, and he’s more fun to write that way
