It’s time for our weekly #preppygrandhome interior feature, and this week we are highlighting Lance of @parkerkennedyliving 👏 Gracious Panache. That’s what comes to mind when describing Lance’s incredibly styled Commerce, GA home! It’s a historic Mediterranean style house which he and partner David have been lovingly restoring for about 6 years now. And a medley of beautiful furnishings and details give this 6k square feet abode the look and feel of a Southern “Regency” style interior: refined and honors the past, while keeping pace and the needs of a modern family. Who Do They Share The House With? Baby dog Sam, and Lance’s son Thomas (who is currently at college) What/Where Do You Find Inspo? 'Everywhere! I love old interior books, especially from the '70s & '80s' What Do You Collect and Why? ‘Where do I start? She absolutely loves color and has a true passion for all things home decor. Her collections include, among other things, pastel colored milk glass pieces and tobacco leaf porcelain. It’s time for the #preppygrandhome feature of the week and today we’re introducing Alcione of @beautifulmixinteriors 👏👏 Alcione lives in North Florida with her husband and daughter, and Boston Terrier, Frisco. Growing up in a charming historic Baroque town in Brazil, Alcione learned to appreciate the arts and the old inspired by her mother, a painter, who also loved hand painted and gilded furniture. Alcione’s design aesthetic is classic and collected with a touch of chinoiserie. She loves mixing elements of French and English style to create spaces that are layered and timeless, comfortable and elegant. She’s an avid collector of art, chinoiserie, blue & white pottery, antique Staffordshire, needlepoint and tapestry. INTERIOR TOUR It’s time for our #preppygrandhome feature and this week we are introducing Maggie York of @margaretofyork 🙌 Maggie lives in Jacksonville, IL on her family farm. She describes her style of timeless, classic style with a dash of coastal influence. Travel has always provided inspiration as she loves traditional style with a coastal influence. Maggie has a large collection of blue and white ginger and temple jars and has started collecting @kaycehughes daily art. Everything in her home is approachable and family friendly. She always selects performance fabrics to withstand four children and dogs. “Our home is functional, comfortable, and cozy.” Maggie’s favorite room in her home is her recently renovated primary bathroom. It’s wrapped in blue and white @quadrillefabrics wallpaper, has heated floors and a soaking tub. “It feels like a retreat from the daily grind.” She is really enjoying her soaking tub and uses it whenever she needs a mental break. It’s time for the #preppygrandhome feature of the week and today we’re introducing Sarah of @sarahmccartyinteriors 🙌🏻 Sarah Iives in Northern VA, just outside Washington DC, with her husband, their 3 children (2 girls and a boy), and Labrador Retriever Macs. She describes her home style as modern coastal chic. There is a lot of blue and white (heavy on the blue 😉), woven textures, and greenery, but also a few pops of color and a lot of ginger jars! She loves to pattern mix and does so in most of her spaces. She’ll never turn down a good antelope rug! When asked what is her favorite room in her home she says, “definitely the kitchen! It has so many of my favorite design elements all in one place - from the colors and textures, to the wallpaper and window treatments, and everything in-between - it’s truly my dream space!” And we can see why- her kitchen is absolutely stunning! Sarah finds inspo in all kinds of places - in fashion, television, and magazines, but also from her time spent in Charleston, SC. “It is such a beautiful city with a laid back vibe. It also doesn’t shy away from color - which I love. It’s actually one of the reasons we purchased the home we’re in today. It has a very southern feel to it with its yellow exterior and wrap around front porch.” Sarah is very fond of her growing collection of ginger jars and is starting to run out of places to display them all! “I started collecting them because they are all so unique. I never know which one I’m going to come across next which makes them even more exciting to me. I love to use them for flowers and citrus stems. She is an attorney by day and home décor enthusiast by night. Ashley and her husband have spent the last three years updating their home, which includes various DIY projects, like her recent addition of wainscoting in her entryway/main hallway. She created her account to have a creative outlet and share inspiring and attainable home décor, and lifestyle. Ashley describes her style as a combination of classic design with new traditional and coastal influences. Her home has a tranquil color scheme throughout which gives it a fresh and bright feel. Her talent for home décor and styling has been featured in @detroithomemagazine and @hourdetroitmagazine. The essence of Ashley’s home is comfortable elegance with a curation of new and old pieces while keeping it somewhat child friendly. Her favorite rooms are her living room, renovated kitchen, and boys’ bedrooms. Ashley loves to collect coffee table books, blue and white/chinoiserie pieces, @mackenziechilds and vintage @Wedgewood. She enjoys shopping local estate sales and @homegoods for unique and affordable finds. She also loves to entertain and host dinner parties. For this week’s #preppygrandhome feature, we highlight one of our own - @opulenceathome (aka the DeVera Family)! Let it be said that a home tells you the story of the lives of the family that dwell there. And this one is no exception. You know from the moment you enter this early 1900s house that you’ve arrived at a home with a rebellious spirit tempered by reverence for tradition. It expresses the family’s personal style: passion for living through aesthetic choices - color, art, objects, furniture and fabric. Located in the NYC suburbs, the abode is a mix and match of styles and prized 'pieces with more everyday objects to retain a human dimension' as Axel Vervoordt was once quoted as saying. In other words, eclecticism is the rule, not an exception. Every room is different but lovingly styled to reveal a way of life, not just decorating. They reference the past while always incorporating more contemporary sensibilities. But even more than that, the rooms are pulled together, yet relaxed and inviting.
