Enhancing CSR Impact through Collaboration with Marpu Foundation
The concept of corporate social responsibility, or CSR, holds that companies should conduct their operations in accordance with values and guidelines that have a beneficial effect on both the environment and society. Through corporate social responsibility (CSR), businesses balance the needs of their communities and the global community with their own financial interests and profitability.
A corporation can gain from CSR in a number of ways. Enhancing its brand image is the first step. Customers and clients typically react favorably when they witness proof that a company is socially conscious.
The enhancement of staff morale is the second advantage. Businesses that put time and money into acting morally and responsibly toward society tend to have happier employees.
Attracting fresh talent is the third. Contemporary workers frequently prioritize work environments and purpose-driven organizations over monetary compensation.
Finally, businesses that engage in CSR draw partners and investors. A business that provides stability to prospective investors is willing to invest in long-term plans and enhancements.

Note: I super don't like the framing of this headline. "Here's why it matters" idk it's almost like there's an entire country's worth of people who get to keep their democracy! Clearly! But there are few good articles on this in English, so we're going with this one anyway.
--
2024 is the biggest global election year in history and the future of democracy is on every ballot. But amid an international backsliding in democratic norms, including in countries with a longer history of democracy like India, Senegal’s election last week was a major win for democracy. It’s also an indication that a new political class is coming of age in Africa, exemplified by Senegal’s new 44-year-old president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
The West African nation managed to pull off a free and fair election on March 24 despite significant obstacles, including efforts by former President Macky Sall to delay the elections and imprison or disqualify opposition candidates. Add those challenges to the fact that many neighboring countries in West Africa — most prominently Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, but other nations across the region too — have been repeatedly undermined by military coups since 2020.
Sall had been in power since 2012, serving two terms. He declined to seek a third term following years of speculation that he would do so despite a constitutional two-term limit. But he attempted to extend his term, announcing in February that elections (originally to be held that month) would be pushed off until the end of the year in defiance of the electoral schedule.
Sall’s allies in the National Assembly approved the measure, but only after security forces removed opposition politicians, who vociferously protested the delay. Senegalese society came out in droves to protest Sall’s attempted self-coup, and the Constitutional Council ruled in late February that Sall’s attempt to stay in power could not stand.
That itself was a win for democracy. Still, opposition candidates, including Faye, though legally able to run, remained imprisoned until just days before the election — while others were barred from running at all. The future of Senegal’s democracy seemed uncertain at best.
Cut to Tuesday [April 2, 2024], when Sall stepped down and handed power to Faye, a former tax examiner who won on a campaign of combating corruption, as well as greater sovereignty and economic opportunity for the Senegalese. And it was young voters who carried Faye to victory...
“This election showed the resilience of the democracy in Senegal that resisted the shock of an unexpected postponement,” Adele Ravidà, Senegal country director at the lnternational Foundation for Electoral Systems, told Vox via email. “... after a couple of years of unprecedented episodes of violence [the Senegalese people] turned the page smoothly, allowing a peaceful transfer of power.”
And though Faye’s aims won’t be easy to achieve, his win can tell us not only about how Senegal managed to establish its young democracy, but also about the positive trend of democratic entrenchment and international cooperation in African nations, and the power of young Africans...
Senegal and Democracy in Africa
Since it gained independence from France in 1960, Senegal has never had a coup — military or civilian. Increasingly strong and competitive democracy has been the norm for Senegal, and the country’s civil society went out in great force over the past three years of Sall’s term to enforce those norms.
“I think that it is really the victory of the democratic institutions — the government, but also civil society organization,” Sany said. “They were mobilized, from the unions, teacher unions, workers, NGOs. The civil society in Senegal is one of the most experienced, well-organized democratic institutions on the continent.” Senegalese civil society also pushed back against former President Abdoulaye Wade’s attempt to cling to power back in 2012, and the Senegalese people voted him out...
Faye will still have his work cut out for him accomplishing the goals he campaigned on, including economic prosperity, transparency, food security, increased sovereignty, and the strengthening of democratic institutions. This will be important, especially for Senegal’s young people, who are at the forefront of another major trend.
Young Africans will play an increasingly key role in the coming decades, both on the continent and on the global stage; Africa’s youth population (people aged 15 to 24) will make up approximately 35 percent of the world’s youth population by 2050, and Africa’s population is expected to grow from 1.5 billion to 2.5 billion during that time. In Senegal, people aged 10 to 24 make up 32 percent of the population, according to the UN.
“These young people have connected to the rest of the world,” Sany said. “They see what’s happening. They are interested. They are smart. They are more educated.” And they have high expectations not only for their economic future but also for their civil rights and autonomy.
The reality of government is always different from the promise of campaigning, but Faye’s election is part of a promising trend of democratic entrenchment in Africa, exemplified by successful transitions of power in Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone over the past year. To be sure, those elections were not without challenges, but on the whole, they provide an important counterweight to democratic backsliding.
Senegalese people, especially the younger generation, have high expectations for what democracy can and should deliver for them. It’s up to Faye and his government to follow."

one thing that doesn't really make sense to me ( or better it does but also seems dumb to point out ) is that claire is blamed for... offering aid in the aftermath of bioterrorism instead of preventing it. but the thing is that it seems at first terrasave was born after the tragedy of raccoon city with the aim to uncover the dirt that the governments ( mainly the us ) and corporations ( mainly umbrella ) were hiding, and that's it. i genuinely believe that before becoming THE designated ngo for these sort of events, the whole thing was really just a group of nerds putting in their time and skills to investigate into what went wrong with RC.
then things kept getting worse and their voice becomes louder, terragrigia panic probably elevates them and turns that group into a real organisation because by that time there's more people siding with them, willing to help. they're new but they got the support of professionals from all over the world and hence it gives them enough credibility to be backed up at harvardville, have doors opened for what concerns monitoring the development of vaccines / drugs and whatnot. but as i said they're new, they put their trust into professionals and end up with curtis miller becoming a problem for their image. and then it turns out that was the tip of the iceberg and there were even bigger problems because of the vaccine distribution and whose fault it was for that outbreak in india.
( keep in mind this is 2005, neil joined around this time much to everybody's disappointment )
now, from what we see once the harvardville situation is cleared out the gen pop's opinion of terrasave remains positive - claire lowkey ditches leon to go to the protests that are still happening so at least about that we know that they're still demanding for ron davis to not be an asshole ( because beside having beef with claire specifically he also did a whole lot of heinous things ). now why am i mentioning this guy? he was involved with tricell. FOLLOW ME ON THIS ONE. a year later we see that terrasave has branched out in penamstan, where allegedly they're dealing with war related issues and it seems like nobody is aware that there's been an outbreak until claire sees the drawing.
the thing is, i think that once they got bigger terrasave forgot their initial aim and went a little political despite not wanting to be involved with any government. the way they are portrayed in infinite darkness is very white saviour-y too, which i believe despite their good intentions it's true ( look at that god awful commercial from 2011 ). unless she went back after getting her projects approved by potus, claire ends up spending more time in DC than in penamstan and is once again involved with a senator who is working with tricell. this is 2006.
i mentioned our beloved ( ... ) neil earlier in this wall of text and i believe in the end he is the missing piece ( shocking i know ) to understand what is going on. fbc gets dismantled in 2004 after an investigation that led to lansdale being arrested for the terragrigia outbreak and passing the torch to neil. now, we don't know for how long he's been the director of terrasave, but we do know that once again they saw a professional and decided he was their best shot ( wrong... again ).
neil is interested on getting info from claire about a new virus spreading, to which claire simply says that tricell is dead and gone, there's nothing to worry about ( she's a liar and a girlboss but since infinite darkness wasn't even a thought yet i will give her benefit of doubt ). as we know neil already knows about uroboros AND a new virus because of his involvement with alex w. but the thing is... neil was planning to bring back the fbc in the same way lansdale thought he was giving the organisation such a good name - create outbreaks and go on and on about how they need that commission to be reopened. ( ALSO, as moira / movemnt made me notice, alex has a tricell box in her lab. what a coincidence !! )
funny story, lansdale engineered the t-abyss virus, and through death island we find out that terrasave has chips inside orcas to monitor them... which apparently claire is not aware of since she doesn't comment anything about the guy who called her being perplexed, she just says that they deal with bioterrorism WHICH OF COURSE HE FINDS WEIRD because it's just an orca bitten by a shark. but dylan has all kinds of aquatic monsters lurking around alcatraz and he must have taken inspiration from somewhere right? in fact he was connected to arias, who was connected to the black market and pretty much took tricell's place what concerns sales, and on and on we go.
dylan straight up tells claire that she's out there handing over bandages instead of stopping outbreaks, that she essentially sits back and watches as shit hits the fan instead of stopping it. so this leaves a question. what kind of dirt is still lurking at terrasave hqs? because neil has been dead since 2011, we could assume that things have been fixed and instead there might be a chance that there's still so much clean up to do. bottom line is... tricell is probably still around in some capacity, someone at terrasave is carrying on what neil was trying to finish and possibly cooperating with the next bad guy, and once again claire has absolutely no idea of all that.

Partnering with Marpu in these initiatives allows corporations to support SDG 4 by investing in programs that enhance access to education, improve literacy rates, and empower marginalized groups. 4. Environmental Conservation (SDG 13 - Climate Action): Marpu Foundation actively engages in environmental conservation efforts aimed at mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity. Corporations can enhance their CSR initiatives by partnering with Marpu in projects such as afforestation campaigns, sustainable agriculture practices, or renewable energy projects. By supporting these initiatives, companies can align with SDG 13 goals and demonstrate their commitment to environmental stewardship.
Tumblr media
5. Healthcare Access (SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being): Marpu Foundation works towards improving healthcare access and promoting health awareness in underserved communities. Collaborating with Marpu in healthcare projects allows corporations to contribute to SDG 3 by funding medical camps, establishing healthcare centers, or supporting vaccination drives. Anti-India bias of the BBC
BBC's recent 2 part documentary, India, the Modi question, on PM Modi is very divisive and has a strong anti-India, anti-Hindu bias. (January 2023)
Instead of focusing on the life or achievements of the Prime Minister of the largest democracy in the world, BBC focused on the controversial riots that happened at the beginning of his career as the Chief Minister (CM) of Gujarat state in India.
On the morning of 27th February 2002, a mob of muslim rioters from Godhra, Gujarat, burned a train, killing 59 Hindu pilgrims (9 men, 25 women and 25 children). A state wide strike on the 28th Feb sparked riots across Gujarat. Army was called in and arrived on the 1st of March. Despite that, violence lasted for weeks, resulting in the death of over 2000 people, of which, 75% are presumed to be muslim.
The main claim of people accusing PM Modi of post-Godhra riots is that he waited 3 days before calling in the army, allowing rioters to kill muslims with impunity.
Sloppy journalists assumed 28th till 1st March was a delay of 3 days. Intelligent ones knew that Feb 2002 had 28 days! So the 1st was the very next day of the month and there was no delay of 3 days! Indian army was there the very next day of the riots, not 3 days late! I wish the BBC had checked facts rather than rely on hear-say before making grave allegations of genocide on the PM Modi!
BBC's prog on India's PM Modi shows its obvious bias and absolute colonial arrogance! It assumes it knows more than the police, investigating agencies and the High Court (HC) of India! Every court in India, from its HC in the state of Gujarat to the Supreme Court (SC) in the centre, investigated Mr Modi for over a decade. They went through a mountain of data, investigating every claim made by every NGO and journalist to try and see if Mr Modi was complicit in the Gujarat riots of 2002. This is when the Congress party was in power and being opposed to CM Modi's BJP party, they used every lever of gov to try and nail Mr Modi. Yet at every turn, evidence showed that Mr Modi did his best to quell the riots, including calling in the army on the very day the riots started and they arrived the very next day!
No less than the SC of India exonerated Mr Modi on all counts of all charges levelled at him. Yet, 20 years after the event, BBC continues to rack up old, unfounded allegations and continues to malign the PM of India.
BBC has strongly insinuated in the documentary that CM Modi was voted as the PM Modi because of his anti-Muslim views. It totally ignored the fact that the nation voted him in for his 'development' model, which was explicitly agnostic of voters' religious affiliations. His party's slogan is 'Sab ka saath, sab ka vikas', ie With everyone and progress for everyone’. People across India voted him to be their Prime Ministership because of the progress and development they saw in Gujarat during his 12 year tenure as its chief minister. BBC also ignores that PM Modi has been voted back to power for a 2nd term because of the positive growth people have seen progress seen across India in his 1st term.
Last week, BBC spent the best part of the hour exploring what Mr Modi did or did not do after the riot. But, crucially, it spent no time exploring the cause of the riots - the cold blooded murder of 59 Hindu pilgrims by a muslim mob who burned them alive! Why were the lives of Hindus victims so easily disregarded by the BBC? BBC spent a lot of time talking to the muslim victims of the riots. Why did the BBC not speak to the family of the Hindu victims? Why did it not speak to the muslim extremists who murdered Hindu pilgrims? Why did it not spend any time examining the 31 people found guilty by the court system of the heinous murder of Hindu pilgrims, and instead waste time examining the 1 person exonerated of any guilt!
BBC's series on PM Modi will do nothing to rehabilitate its image as a racist, left-wing organisation that produces biased programmes that are not fair or balanced in their content or views.
