My Beyblade OST Deep Dive. Want to be inside my brain for second? Wild ride incoming.
This is incredibly long and incredibly stupid.Â
But have any of you ever seen THIS?
I SURE HAVE.
Wanna hear more?Â
PLAYLIST HERE: Listen with me through the deep dive (1 song is missing, because I cannot find the 8th track anywhere).
Buckle up, Beybladers.
In 2003, I was 11 years old.
I was Beyblade addicted.
I walked around alone at recess and talked to myself, imagining that it was *I* becoming world champion, solidifying myself with my own pheonix-ish bit beast (her name was Metallia, and she was sometimes purple, but also sometimes green) and imagined myself in a white Old Navy t-shirt with glittery, puffy lettering, wind in my hair, cargo pants rivaling Kai Hiwatariâs.Â
Iâd bring my momâs biggest metal mixing bowl to school and act as the Beyblade goddess. Who needed one of those cheap, flimsy plastic dishes when I rolled up to grade 5 with my 4 litre mixing bowl? Who needed Jazzman to call the shots when you had me? Well, probably everyone....I was a terrible commentator.
All that was missing was the sound track.Â
The English dub is notorious for early 2000s rock bops, and as a Canadian living in the glory of our national exports of Billy Talent, Sum 41, and Avril Lavigne, I was there for it.Â
So, colour me surprised when I rolled up to HMV with my mom, who was in the market for a Diana Ross CD, when on my hunt for the Harry Potter and the Philosopherâs Stone OST, that I found the divider with: BEYBLADE OSTÂ
Excuse me?Â
THE WHAT?Â
I needed it.Â
It was gone.
Fate is cruel.
I scoured the OSTs. Surely, there had to be one hiding in there. Even in 2003, when Beyblade was the toy of toys, I knew that no one was listening to the OST. I was the only one who knew the dub songs in my class. My escapades mumbling to myself in the school yard were interspersed with âLETâS GO BEYBLADERSâ being semi-screamed to high heaven.
In what I can only describe as my first episode âDear God Donât Make Me Talk to The Person Who Works Hereâ anxiety, my mother made me ask the teenager at the cash if there were any in the back .
He said no.Â
I had accepted my fate until he asked if I would like to place an order for one. Theyâd call me when it arrived.Â
Uhhhh.....Yes, sir!
The call came in 14 days later. I was home from school watching the Maury Show on daytime TV. Why was I allowed to do such a thing? Who knows. What it ended up doing was adding more fuel to my AU where I was single handedly bringing the BBA to the mainstream with my sick moves and did interviews with Maury Povich (I never said it was a good, AU.)
As you can probably tell from the track list, this thing was a bop. If youâve ever heard the songs that rolled up in the dub, then youâll know that the songs seeped into your pre-teen soul. I AM going to feel your thunder. I AM the underdog. Letâs go, Beybladers, LETâS RIP IT THROUGH THE SKY, AM I RIGHT?
Powerful stuff, if you know what I mean.
Well, in the words of Nelvanaâs VP at the time, Tracy Ewing, âMusic is a key element of the Beyblade brand and a medium able to perfectly capture the adrenaline and excitement of this sports entertainment phenomenon.â
This is from the official announcement for this OST, where Nelvana announces a partnership with Sony Wonder, hoping to capitalize on the Bey-craze.
The weirdest part about this OST, though, was that while there were all of my absolute faves (which I could now listen to in FULL), more than half the tracks were songs that werenât even in the show. Turns out that the licensing rights expanded past music that was already in the show, and allowed Nelvana to develop new music for potential future albums and to feature songs and artists not in the show.
Why were they on there?Â
Well, it could be because....
âWe are excited about our relationship with Nelvana as it extends beyond typical licensing agreements with the development of new music to not only support subsequent soundtracks, but the series as wellâ says Therese Garnett, Vice President Partnership Marketing.
The OST of course contains the tracks that English dub fans (and perhaps others!) know and love, as well as non-show tracks from Canadian music sensation Prozzak, as well as an at the time up and coming rock band from the Northern Ontario city of Subury (not to far from where I grew up, and known for breeding such sensations as Jeopardy!âs Alex Trebek) called Far From Heroes.
The CD was released on May 20, 2003 along with 2 VHS Tapes (The Blade Raider â Triple Feature and The Qualifier â Triple Feature (couldnât find a link to this one, sorry) ) and 1 DVD ( Beyblade Battle Series â Volume 1).
To my knowledge, I am the only person I know who every had the OST, and as far as I can see, the CD itself only had a Canadian release.Â
Also, despite the name, unfortunately only one volume of this gem was released.
Anyways.Â
Thatâs all I got for you.

The conclusion of Monday nightâs thoroughly underwhelming yet incredibly revealing fixture wrapped up another weekend of football.
From the Madrid derby to Charltonâs defiant victory over Leeds United, Football FanCast have had their eyes firmly gripped to the action across England and La Liga.
Our team of regional correspondents at FFC have been busy dissecting the themes to emerge during the weekend fixtures, and theyâve provided a brief insight into the emerging talking pointsâŠ
Pathetic fallacy was in full swing on Monday night as the relentless rain that has become synonymous with the city of Manchester pelted down at Old Trafford.
The drenched pairing of Unai Emery and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer watched on while their respective teams scrapped, slid and scurried around in a desperate bid to establish anything remotely resembling genuine control of the game.
But both sides were frantic and lacked composure from back to front. Perhaps the only shining light to emerge from proceedings was 18-year-old Bukayo Saka, who was enterprising and fearless in his endeavour to unsettle Man Unitedâs defensive unit.
That he was the only player â with the notable exception of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang â to take it upon himself to inject any quality into the game spoke volumes about how deep both sides have plummeted.
Two squashed behemoths who have long been considered top dogs in the Premier League were reduced to nothing more than top-six contenders at the very best, leaving fans of both clubs with a dejected outlook of what the future may hold.
Saka could well be in the star in the making, but both Arsenal and United will need more than a handful of outstanding teenagers to put them on a playing field close to pace-setters Manchester City and Liverpool.
Jack Saville â Assistant EditorÂ
Everton away has always been a notoriously difficult fixture in the Premier League. Goodison Park is home to a set of passionate supporters who can lift the roof off the place when they have something to shout about.
And on Saturday, their was slim hope that they could secure an impressive result against the champions. Having seen table-toppers Liverpool scrape a 1-0 win at Sheffield United earlier in the afternoon to extend the gap to eight points, Manchester City desperately needed a win. Enter stage left, Riyad Mahrez.
With less than 20 minutes remaining, and the scores locked level at 1-1, the Algerian curled home a sumptuous free-kick to restore Cityâs lead and hand Pep Guardiolaâs side the initiative. Last season, the former Leicester star managed just 14 starts in the Premier League, and was playing second-fiddle to the likes of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.
But with the latter now injured, Mahrez appears to be embracing the responsibility of being one of the Citizensâ leading lights. And boy do they need him.
Vijievan Jeevathayalan â Manchester correspondent
Leeds suffered their first away defeat this season after previously looking unbeatable on the road. Coming up against a Charlton side without Lyle Taylor, it may have been a surprise to see the Addicks scrape over the line but it was courtesy of yet more catastrophic defending from a set-piece for the west Yorkshire side.
Conceding from dead-ball scenarios are following the Whites around like a bad smell at the moment. Of the five goals Marcelo Bielsaâs men have conceded in the Championship, three of them have been from those types of situations. Losing Pontus Jansson has been a blow in this regard and thatâs regardless of how well the PFA Fansâ Player of the Month Ben White is performing.
If Leeds want to get promoted theyâll have to cut out this aspect of their game.
Matt Dawson â Leeds correspondent
Charlton managed to get back to winning ways with an eye-catching result against promotion hopefuls Leeds on Saturday, a match that saw the Addicksâ woes without Lyle Taylor ease up slightly.
Macauley Bonne, a summer signing from Leyton Orient, netted his first goal for the club after a somewhat fortuitous moment from a personal aspect â Tom Lockyerâs effort bobbled around in the area before going in off Bonne.
The 23-year-old was making his first Championship start of the season â having had to bide his time behind Tomer Hemed, who is yet to score in four appearances and Chuks Aneke, who has just one in seven â and managed to better their recent efforts by finding the net.
Taylor is the clubâs talisman and is also not an easy man to replace, but Bonneâs showing should give supporters some encouragement.
Billy Meyers â South London and South Coast correspondent
Aston Villa suffered yet again this weekend. It is the third time this season that they have thrown away a match when leading â the other two coming against Tottenham Hotspur, who won with a late flurry of goals, and against Arsenal, who had ten men for a good 50 minutes.
Itâs hard to put a finger on exactly where it has gone wrong this season, but a lack of clear depth in their attack seems to one focal point having scored just seven goals before Saturdayâs match. Their club-record signing Wesley failed to even register a shotâŠ
Some may be quick to blame VAR after they chalked off another goal, but the problem is that of Dean Smithâs rather than technology. He signed 12 new players for approximately £144.5m â he deserves time but he should rightly be questioned after just one win this season.
Lewis Blain â Midlands correspondent
The Baggies put the rest of the Championship on notice ahead of a top-of-table clash with Leeds United on Tuesday night.
Slaven Bilicâs boys made it a ninth straight game without defeat, which in turn saw them rise to the leagueâs summit by the end of play on Saturday.
Surprisingly, their 2-0 victory over QPR was their first clean sheet of the season and that will be something theyâll be looking to build upon as Sir Alex Ferguson once said: âattack wins you games, defence wins you titles.â
The scary prospect is that the defence have only just managed that accolade for the first time while the formerly prolific Championship striker Charlie Austin is yet to bag his first league goal â they should only get better from here.
Lewis Blain â Midlands correspondent
Tottenham Hotspurâs decision to sell Kieran Trippier looked to have been somewhat vindicated following Serge Aurierâs brilliant display against Crystal Palace at the beginning of September, in which he assisted one and saw another of his crosses diverted into his own net by Patrick van Aanholt.
It is unclear whether Spurs wanted to keep the Ivory Coast international after he hinted that they did, or whether they had to do that because they couldnât find a replacement for the former Paris Saint-Germain player before the summer window slammed shut.
Anyhow, his recklessness with two quick-fire first-half bookings against Southampton on Saturday could easily have cost his side, and just showed again how much of a liability the 26-year-old can be.
Meanwhile, England international Trippier continues to be praised for how he is adapting to life in Spain with Atletico Madrid.
Given the lack of quality in depth Tottenham have at right-back now, Mauricio Pochettino may have peaked too soon by moving the 29-year-old on in the summer.
James Beavis â Editor
The Joe Gomez vs Joel Matip debate raged all summer, as Liverpool fans found it almost impossible to decide which player they would rather have partnering Virgil van Dijk.
Gomez stole the show at the beginning of last season, but lost his place after picking up an injury at Burnley, with Matip proving undroppable in the run to the Champions League final.
This weekendâs win at Bramall Lane however felt like a true statement performance from the Cameroonian, following on from his man of the match display at Stamford Bridge last week.
In a game where the Reds were struggling to create, the 28 year-old shouldered the responsibility and forced the issue, carrying the ball forward and searching for incisive passes to the front three, ignoring the easier options that would simply recycle possession and make life easy for Sheffield United.
Itâs one thing to be defensively sound in a difficult atmosphere, but Matip looks confident, assured and now the unquestionable first-choice alongside van Dijk.
Ben Goodwin â Editor
While the week before the underdogs had their time in the sun, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have taken the spotlight now. Of course, the main event of the weekend was held in the capital as Diego Simeoneâs men welcomed Zinedine Zidaneâs troops to the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
Even though the game had its moments, the night ended in a goalless draw and the giants sharing the spoils of war. Real Madrid thus retain their top spot in La Liga and have put their third consecutive clean sheet in the books. But that draw also benefited Barcelona, in particular.
After weeks of trying and failing, the Catalans finally recorded a clean sheet of their own and managed to tally a victory on the road for the first time this season.
And with both of their other direct rivals dropping points in the Madrid derby, Blaugrana are knocking on the upper tableâs doors quite loudly.
Domagoj Kostanjsak â La Liga correspondent
Chelsea finally grabbed their first home league win and first clean sheet of the season against Brighton on Saturday.
It was exactly what Frank Lampard and his players needed. After a mixed start to the campaign, the Blues finally seem to be settling, and they have now won their past two matches in all competitions.
Not only that, but Lampard handled the penalty situation at the club particularly well in another boost for his young career. It had appeared that Ross Barkley was the teamâs first-choice spot-kick taker, even despite his penalty miss against Valencia, but following Jorginhoâs strike from 12 yards against the Seagulls, the former Derby County boss confirmed that the Italy international will now take the responsibility.
Lampard has sorted the situation out with the minimum bother or drama, and he has ended up taking the best decision for his team. It is proof of his credentials, and shows that he is able to manage a potentially tricky situation very easily. It puts Chelsea in good stead for the rest of what will likely be a gruelling campaign.

The New What Next: Rays Vs. Rangers â a series preview
The Tampa Bay Rays return home from a successful 4-2, post All-Star Break road trip, ready to start a six game home stand against a pair of sub .500 ball-clubs. The Texas Rangers will be the first to enter the Trop on Friday night.
Tampa Bay missed an opportunity to sweep the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, as they dropped the series finale, 7-2. Still, the Rays entered their most recent road trip 3-1/2 games back of the Red Sox in the AL East, and returned down by just 2-1/2. As long as they win 37 of their next 66 games (a .560 clip) â allowing the team to collect a total of 88 wins â they should find themselves playing relevant baseball past October 1. The sheer fact that they start the series six games over .500, and have played .611 baseball since June 7, certainly doesnât hurt their cause.
Texas closed out a four game series on the road against the Orioles on Thursday with their fifth consecutive loss. For a team that now finds itself five games under .500 â and one that considers itself as a fringe contender in the Wildcard race â the Rangers cannot afford to lose any more ground. Dare I say itâs telling that they are listening in on Yu Darvish going into the trade deadline.
The Rays took two of three in the last series between the teams May 29-31 in Arlington.
Over the next three days, Kevin Cash will start Alex Cobb (8-6, 3.59 ERA, 4.16 FIP), Chris Archer (7-5, 3.91 ERA, 3.12 FIP), and Jake Odorizzi (6-4, 4.37 ERA, 5.58 FIP). Jeff Bannister will counter with Yu Darvish (6-8, 3.45 ERA, 3.73 FIP), Andrew Cashner (4-8, 3.58 ERA, 4.56 FIP), and Tyson Ross (2-2, 7.22 ERA, 5.86 FIP).
Pitching Matchups
Cobb held the Angels to one run on six hits over 7-2/3 innings in his last start. The right-hander didnât have his best stuff, although he didnât allow a runner past second base until the seventh inning â when Luis Valbuena tagged him for a solo-shot to put Los Angeles on the board. Cobb coaxed a lot of long, loud outs, especially early on, and he didnât miss many bats. He, however, was efficient. In spite of lapsed command â 59 of his 105 pitches went for strikes; 56% strike ratio â Cobbâs pitch count was only in the 50âs through the front five, and it didnât start to climb until late in his outing. He struck out four and walked three. He is 4-3 with a 2.64 ERA at the Trop this season, and 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA in four career starts against the Rangers.
Darvish is winless over his last six outings extending back to June 12. Moreover, he is 1-6 with a 4.09 ERA in his last 10 starts. Be that as it may, the right-hander is 4-0 with a 1.09 ERA in five career starts against the Rays. You should know what to expect from Darvish by now; a 95 mph four-seam fastball and an 83 mph slider. He will also mix in a 94 mph sinker and an 89 mph cutter. Key Matchups: Corey Dickerson (1-3), Adeiny Hechavarria (1-3), Trevor Plouffe (1-4, 2B, BB), Wilson Ramos (1-3)
Archer struggled Sunday, yet he limited the Angels to just two runs over six innings â allowing him to pick up his fourth consecutive quality start. Even though the right-hander issued no more than three free passes in any of his previous 10 starts, he walked five Angels. To his credit, he was able to pitch around his control problems for the most part. Archer looks to snap a streak of 12 consecutive outings with at least two runs allowed when he takes the mound on Saturday. He notched a win against the Rangers on May 31, the only time he faced them this season.
Cashner is 1-3 with a 4.76 ERA in his last four starts, and 4-5 with a 4.28 ERA in his last nine. The right-hander relies primarily on a 92 mph two-seam sinker and a 94 mph four-seam fastball, while also mixing in an 85 mph changeup, an 88 mph cutter and an 82 mph curveball. Cashner is 2-6 with a 4.33 ERA in nine starts on the road. This will be his first career start against the Rays. Key Matchups: Peter Bourjos (2-4, 2 2B, 1 RBI), Corey Dickerson (2-3, 2B, 3 B, RBI), Brad Miller (2-2, RBI, BB), Logan Morrison (3-7, 2B, BB), Shane Peterson (3-5, 2B, 3B, BB)
Odorizzi pitched his best start of the season on the 17th, allowing one run on one hit over seven innings against the Atletics. Odorizzi pitched out of the stretch during that start and said he plans to only throw out of the stretch going forward. Was he dominant? Not really. He relinquished a fair amount of medium-to-hard contact that, luckily, was right at the outfielders. However, he was able to generate a fair amount of weak contact that allowed him to keep his pitch count in order, while also keeping himself out of the dangerous hittersâ counts that heâd been plagued by of late. And much like those who pitched before him â namely Jacob Faria, Chris Archer and Alex Cobb, none of which featured their best stuff in their most recent outings â he threw quality strikes throughout to keep Oaklandâs bats at bay.
Ross gave up nine runs in 3-2/3 innings in his last start against the Orioles. Before that, he was 1-0 with a 3.24 ERA over his previous three starts. The 30 year-old right-hander relies primarily on a 92 mph four-seam fastball with average velocity and an 84 mph fly-ball inducing slider. He will also mix in a whiffy 91 mph sinker and an 89 mph swing-and-miss cutter. He is 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA in four career games against the Rays, but he hasn't faced them since 2013. Key Matchups: Corey Dickerson (5-14, 2B, 2 HR, 2 RBI, BB), Adeiny Hechavarria (2-5), Evan Longoria (2-5, RBI), Brad Miller (1-2, HR, RBI, BB), Logan Morrison (2-5, 2 BB), Shane Peterson (1-2, BB), Trevor Plouffe (1-3), Wilson Ramos (4-9, 2B, 2 RBI)
Noteworthiness
â Fun with numbers, courtesy of Dave Haller (Tampa Bay Rays Communicationâs Department): Friday will be first time the Rays have hosted a game after the All-Star break while positioned to reach the postseason since September 23, 2013. In that game, James Loney hit a pinch-hit, walk-off homer run (off Tommy Hunter) for 5-4 win. The Rays then embarked on epic road trip taking them through New York, Toronto, Texas, Cleveland, and Boston.
â As we mentioned Thursday, Steven Souza Jr. had an MRI on his injured left hip. The MRI showed no damage, and heâs listed as day to day heading into the series.
â Rickie Weeks Jr. homered and walked twice in a rehab start for the Durham Bulls on Thursday.
â The Rays announced that RHP Jumbo Diaz has cleared waivers and has elected free agency. Awe, shucks.
