This is absolutely a thing in Monsters and Other Childish Things. Someone can yell an insult so sick, so personally damaging, that you lose the ability to run or to do math. And someone could punch you so hard that you can't give a speech or kick a soccer ball.
For the monsters it's even wilder! If Yog'So-Soft, the eldritch teddy bear, tears at the soul of Mr. Crocker, an ancient Egyptian river god who is a crocodile, then Mr. Crocker could lose his ability to eat anything, or see invisible things.
And if Mr. Crocker takes a bite out of Yog'So-Soft, then Yog'So-Soft might lose his ability to magically manipulate the emotions of humans, or his power to throw sleepy dust on his enemies.

A lot of tabletop RPGs in the OSR sphere have become infatuated with the idea of a slot-based inventory which doubles as an injury tracker, such that each wound literally occupies some number of inventory slots based on its severity, potentially forcing you to abandon loot and even equipment if you get hurt badly enough, and I'm thinking: why stop there? Use the same slot-based inventory for everything. Skills. Relationships. Emotional burdens. Get punched so hard you forget how to cast freball. An orc calls you a nasty name and it bothers you so much, you have to unequip your sense of humour until you recover.

If you want to simplify it even more, the One Roll Engine has a single dice pool where the results tell you whether you hit, how much damage, and even where on your opponent you hit!
As far as I know nWoD/Chronicles of Darkness already moved away from this model, but Classic World of Darkness had this model of attack rolls where it's like. You first roll to hit. One success is enough to hit, but the opponent can also defend which reduce the attacker's successes. Any hits in excess the one needed to hit are transported into the dice pool for the damage roll (and again the target is allowed to roll to soak damage). It's cumbersome, but there's one particular reason for why it's cumbersome that is rarely appreciated: you have to basically build two separate dice pools.
And this is like a solved problem already. We have the technology for this. Over on the Warhammer side of things they have already figured out that you should just roll once for hits and then the dice that do hit get carried over and rolled for wounds. You could easily build a dice pool system around that logic in a tabletop RPG. No need to construct two separate mostly unrelated dice pools. Roll to hit, pick up the dice that hit, roll those for damage.

Saw a really messed up looking James Pillow Pet last night, and just had to draw the dang thing because it genuinely looked like a freaking train larvae...
Am I really dealing with severe burnout by getting a genuine interest in TTTE? Seems so. The choo choo trains don't cause me nearly as much stress as the Contemptuously Eating Itself Constantly Fandom.

I love how in productions where Electra isn’t bald he become temporarily bald during the races to put on his helmet, only to have a fucked-up wig during One Rock ‘N’ Roll Too Many. It implies he had a wig ready in preparation just in case he crashed during the race.

Hi! I see you're generalizing all TTRPGs as D&D.
Would you like help with that?
Try any of these games:
FATE Core
Reign (One Roll Engine)
Fabula Ultima
Break!!
For a slightly more rules-heavy choice, try any of these games:
Trinity Continuum
Exalted: Essence
Through the Breach
Any Chronicles of Darkness game
every combat round in a tabletop game
player: i wanna do this cool thing! dm: hell yeah, that sounds cool! dm: unfortunately we need to roll dice and do maths for ten minutes now to figure out if it works

In Reign and Wild Talents (also using the same One Roll Engine of Godlike) there are Expert Dice that function identically. Set them to the value you want, roll your Stat+Skill pool, and hope for a match!
Called shots basically give a 'free' Expert Die in all but name, but you have to take the penalty to the pool.
When using Expert Dice, it's largely advised you just set these to 10 and hope you get the Highest Result Possible (ancient Reign wisdom), but given how these systems also have Hit Locations, sometimes you really want to hit a mook in the hand with the Death Ray and that's where Expert Dice shine..
Hello, Do you know of any trpgs with a mechanic where you try to predict what number the die will land on before rolling? Like before you roll a d6, you guess what number you think will come up?
I don't, and there's probably a reason why: such a mechanic, as presented, would basically amount to "pick a number between 1 and 6 and hope you roll the right one." Taken in isolation, it would be the same as a mechanic where only a roll of 6 results in a success on a d6. But just with the player getting to decide, before each roll, what the exact number required to succeed is.
Now, you could add more dice, but then you run into another problem: anyone who understands a bit of statistics now knows what number you want to guess every time if it's simply a "guess what number you're going to roll" type of situation. Because in any given instance of multiple dice being rolled some number or numbers will arise where the distribution is skewed towards them. Rolling 2d6? You're most likely to roll a 7 so if it's a binary "did you guess right" situation you'll always want to guess 7.
Now, having said that, there are dice games out there that are built around betting on the outcome of a dice roll or guessing the outcome of a dice roll, with riskier bets having bigger payouts. Hell, you could easily build a mechanic around a game of Pig, with a push your luck mechanic. And I think that might be the angle to go for here: instead of making it a simple "did you guess the right number" deal you could make it something where players effectively bet on the outcome of the dice roll, with more risky predictions giving bigger dividends.
