The Yoruba religion (Yoruba: Ìṣẹ̀ṣe), West African Orisa (Òrìṣà), or Isese (Ìṣẹ̀ṣe), comprises the traditional religious and spiritual concepts and practice of the Yoruba people. Its homeland is in present-day Southwestern Nigeria, which comprises the majority of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara and Lagos States, as well as parts of Kogi state and the adjoining parts of Benin and Togo, commonly known as Yorubaland (Yoruba: Ilẹ̀ Káàárọ̀-Oòjíire).
It shares some parallels with the Vodun practiced by the neighboring Fon and Ewe peoples to the west and with the religion of the Edo people to the east. Yoruba religion is the basis for a number of religions in the New World, notably Santería, Umbanda, Trinidad Orisha, and Candomblé.[1] Yoruba religious beliefs are part of Itàn (history), the total complex of songs, histories, stories, and other cultural concepts which make up the Yoruba society.
Tumblr media
The Yoruba name for the Yoruba indigenous religion is Ìṣẹ̀ṣẹ, which also refers to the traditions and rituals that encompass Yorùbá culture. The term comes from a contraction of the words: Ìṣẹ̀, meaning "source/root origin" and ìṣe, meaning "practice/tradition" coming together to mean "The original tradition"/"The tradition of antiquity" as many of the practices, beliefs, traditions, and observances of the Yoruba originate from the religious worship of Olodumare and the veneration of the Orisa.
Tumblr media
According to Kola Abimbola, the Yorubas have evolved a robust cosmology. Nigerian Professor for Traditional African religions, Jacob K. Olupona, summarizes that central for the Yoruba religion, and which all beings possess, is known as "Ase", which is "the empowered word that must come to pass," the "life force" and "energy" that regulates all movement and activity in the universe".Every thought and action of each person or being in Aiyé (the physical realm) interact with the Supreme force, all other living things, including the Earth itself, as well as with Orun (the otherworld), in which gods, spirits and ancestors exist. The Yoruba religion can be described as a complex form of polytheism, with a Supreme but distant creator force, encompassing the whole universe.
The anthropologist Robert Voeks described Yoruba religion as being animistic, noting that it was "firmly attached to place".
Each person living on earth attempts to achieve perfection and find their destiny in Orun-Rere (the spiritual realm of those who do good and beneficial things).
One's ori-inu (spiritual consciousness in the physical realm) must grow in order to consummate union with one's "Iponri" (Ori Orun, spiritual self).
Iwapẹlẹ (or well-balanced) meditative recitation and sincere veneration is sufficient to strengthen the ori-inu of most people. Well-balanced people, it is believed, are able to make positive use of the simplest form of connection between their Ori and the omnipotent Olu-Orun: an Àwúre (petition or prayer) for divine support.
In the Yoruba belief system, Olodumare has ase over all that is. Hence, it is considered supreme.

FG to Launch NYSC Equivalent for NCE Graduates; Student Loan Recovery to Begin 2 Years After NYSC The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Youth Development, has announced plans to introduce a program similar to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) specifically for graduates of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). This initiative was revealed by the Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Olawande Wisdom, at the opening of the BEMORE OYO 2024 Summer Bootcamp in Ibadan.   According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the program will be developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education as part of broader training reforms. Mr. Wisdom emphasized that while NYSC caters to university graduates, there has been no equivalent program for NCE holders and others with similar qualifications.   Read Also : Police Raid Hideout, Arrest Six Suspected Drug Dealers, Cultists In Akwa Ibom   He stated, "The major priority of the ministry is citizenship and training, and we are bringing them back. We have NYSC for those who finished from universities, but what of those who finished from NCE and others?" Purpose of the Scheme The proposed scheme aims to provide local training opportunities for NCE graduates, reducing the need for interstate travel for such programs.   Pay Attention To: Police Nab 11 Persons Over Alleged Hijacking Of Imported Drugs   Mr. Wisdom highlighted the ministry's focus on citizenship and training, noting that organizations like the Boys’ Brigade and Girl Guides have played a vital role in steering youth away from negative influences. The new program is expected to reinforce these values. Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu emphasized the importance of including women and girls in developmental efforts, stating, "We cannot achieve development if we leave 50% of our population, made up of women and girls." Encouragement for Youth Participation Group Managing Director and CEO of Odu’a Investments, Mr. Abdulrahman Yinusa, urged participants to take full advantage of the training opportunities offered at the event. He also praised the event organizers and mentors for their dedication to advancing girls' education through technology. CW: Vampirism, and too many Pov changes
For a Centauri, indulgence comes as easily as breathing—as just a way of life.
For a race that embraces hedonism, very rarely can one overindulge—but that's not to say it is not unheard of. And of course, one's consequences are never fun to deal with in the aftermath. But you live and learn.
Unless you happen to be a certain Centauri ambassador. Then the lessons never quite stick.
And currently the latter finds himself collapsed within the settee, making himself as comfortable as he can in his current condition. Fat and filled to bursting with rich, thick blood; oh so lovingly donated by his human partner. And how fortunate for L/ondo, that human just happens to be a Chalice too.
Chalices; beings of a mysterious nature whose physical biology is still being studied today. All is known is that their bodies create more blood than is needed, and must be drained regularly to maintain healthy levels within the body.
L/ondo groans at the memory suddenly coming back to him, and he has the feeling that the universe is having fun at his expense once again.
L/ondo hiccups, and then hisses when the movement jostles his overly stuffed stomach, painfully heavy with warm syrupy blood.
You had caught him when he had just finished his meal—so generously provided here on Babylon 5 for him and others—practically sprinting into his arms to paw at him in your feverish state. You begged for relief, for him to feed from you with a whine, and how could he say no. You had begged so prettily, and his hearts ached for you to see you in pain.
L/ondo whisked you away to his quarter to do the deed, public feedings were frowned upon here on Babylon 5, and he would rather save you and himself a lecture from the staff due to both of your eagerness and haste. In the privacy of his quarters, he had made sure you were comfortable and sitting before drinking deeply from you.
A swipe of a tongue at your throat had your pulse racing in anticipation. You had hissed in pain at the initial bite at your neck before sighing in relief as he sucked. The sweet sanguine on his tongue had him moaning, and you pressed yourself impossibly closer into his front, urging him on.
And L/ondo needed no further invitation, hugging you close like you would slip from his very grasp. Though you would never conceive the very thought to do so.
He downs your blood slowly in great big gulps, heat slowly crawls inside your veins and spreads warmth all across, racking your body with shivers at the strange pleasure of it all. You shakily moan as you cling to him, like a lifeline, through it all.
Only once the blood haze passes does L/ondo realize his mistake.
L/ondo lets out a belch that turns to groans. He leans back heavily into the softness of the couch. Small mercies, he thinks. L/ondo's drank as much as he could stomach, and even then some. He feels bloated, his gut—because that's exactly what it is, who is he fooling—feeling tight and cramping, and sloshing with rich, filling blood, courtesy of you.
He's having some regrets, but as you curl yourself around him while making with those cute little noises that you do. Happy and content, no more pain in your features. Well, maybe he could deal with a little stomach ache.
Especially when you bring a hand to his belly to rub at his aches and pains. Gentle but firm in massaging circles into the swell of his belly, somehow knowing just where to rub to ease the dull achiness of his stomach. And drawing out small but continuous burps from him that bring him more relief.
Oh Great Maker, have mercy on him.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Administration and Clinical Services of the Ondo State-owned University of Medical Science (UNIMED), Ondo, Prof. Adolphus Loto, has been sacked for writing a petition against the institution’s Management. A statement issued by the Assistant Registrar, Public Relations Unit of the institution, Temitope Oluwatayo, said the sack followed the adoption and ratification of the Senate’s decision by the Governing Council at its 22nd Statutory meeting held at the Council Chamber, Medical Village Campus, Ondo. Oluwatayo said, “The decision of the Senate was predicated on the former DVC’s unbecoming conduct including frivolous, spurious and unsubstantiated allegations against the University Management “The Governing Council had earlier referred to Prof. Loto’s 13-page petition as well as the responses of the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and the Bursar to the Petitions Committee of Council appointed to investigate and make proper recommendations. “The Petitions Committee of Council (PCC) found the allegations untrue, baseless, embarrassing to the University community and liable to bring the University to disrepute, given Prof. Loto’s position as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor. “UNIMED Senate, on Monday, April 29, 2024, considered the report of the PCC and recommended the removal of Prof. Loto as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor by an overwhelming majority with 100% of the voters approving his removal as DVC Admin. The decision was premised on the fact Prof. Loto made false claims against members of staff of the university, disclosed confidential and official information liable to cause a breach of peace in the university community. UNIMED Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Prof. Ayodele Arowojolu, while addressing the Council, noted that a unanimous decision of the Senate speaks volumes about the lack of confidence in Prof. Loto by his academic peers to remain in the office of DVC Admin.” The Governing Council of the University, thereafter, approved the resolution of the University Senate for the removal of Prof. Loto as DVC.

The Use of Assistive Technology for Students With Disabilities in Technical Colleges in Ondo State
The goal of this study was to explore the use of assistive technology (AT) for students with disabilities in technical colleges in Ondo State. Three research questions guided the study. A cross-sectional survey design was adopted and the survey included 104 participants (38 university lecturers and 66 students with disabilities) drawn from the three technical colleges in Ondo State. A structured questionnaire consisting of 54 items was also adapted and used in data collection. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was 0.86. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS Version 26. The findings of the study revealed that while there are ATs available for students with disabilities in technical colleges in Ondo State, their utilization is limited. The study recommends that technical colleges in Ondo State increase access to ATs in classrooms and laboratories for students with disabilities. The government and school management should also provide adequate, modern instructional facilities and human resources to enable the implementation of ATs and make them accessible and available to all.
Keywords: assistive technology (AT), technical education, technical college, students with disabilities

Poor education funding fueling kidnapping — ASUU
Tumblr media
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Akure zone, compromising of the leadership of academic staff members of public universities in Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States, on Monday decried poor funding of the education sector. Addressing journalists ahead of the zonal meeting of the union held in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, ASUU Akure Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Adeola Egbedokun, said poor funding of education was contributing to the rising wave of violent crimes, especially kidnapping in the country. Egbedokun who was flanked by ASUU chairmen of OAU, Anthony Odiwe, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Pius Mogaji, Ekiti State University, Sola Afolayan, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Abayomi Fagbuagun, and University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Abraham Oladebeye, also accused the federal government of reneging on its promise to discard Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System for paying university lecturers. He said, “The government is insincere about funding education. They are insincere because how can successive administrations arrange several meetings where agreements were signed and such agreements would not be implemented? What has taken us to this particular quagmire is that the government failed to own up to the agreements signed with ASUU. “At this point again, we have to talk about the 26% budgetary allocation which of course is the yardstick set by UNESCO. If the government is sincere, definitely government will definitely know that it is the only solution to the present problem that we find ourselves in. “Most of these people that are creating insecurity, the hoodlums, perhaps it was because they didn’t have sufficient education. If education had been properly funded, definitely there wouldn’t have been any need for agitation from members of staff because they would have been paid. “Presently as we talk some people are hiding in the bush looking for who to kidnap because the government has surreptitiously removed them from having education. Education happens to be the only saving grace for people to live a good life. “If this continues, we are talking about economic hardship, it won’t be a case of what ASUU is going to get, but it is going to be the case of what is going to be the next accident for the nation.” Speaking further, Egbedokun said the use of IPPIS to pay part of the withheld salary of ASUU members was against the agreement reached with the union, adding that many of its members are still being owed several months of promotion arrears, ranging from 6 to 36 months. Demanding immediate release of promotion arrears of ASUU members, the ASUU Coordinator, also reaffirmed the earlier decision of the union rejecting enforcement of Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standard, saying the development of curriculum remains an exclusive duty of the Senate of each university. He chided the government for disregarding agreement tailored towards the welfare of the lecturers and the universities, noting that despite the good intention of ASUU, the government has continued to unleash hardship on the university system, noting that Nigerians should not blame the union for continuous industrial unrest on campus.
