the CS allegiances in that preview are a fucking mess timeline-wise.

All of the kittens of the previous arc are warriors all of a sudden, Floatshimmer is even IN THE NURSERY, WITH KITS while Sunbeam's kittens have just now become apprentices.

This book takes place around 7-8 months after Star, how THE FUCK is Float already in the nursery????? (Additionally. Float is said to be black here while in Star she was tawny. What's going on?) (also, from Heronkit's description I assume Graysky is the kits' father. Which, whoops. Related)

And who THE FUCK are Fluffypaw, Silkypaw, Sprucepaw and Redpaw? For these apprentices to spawn out of thin air you NEED more than the timeskip given here. They have fun names and I hope they did appear out of thin air, but I worry they didn't. Fluffy and Silky should be ex-kittypets, WindClan needs fresh blood and these guys look NOTHING like other WindClan cats. Please let these two be ex-kittypets. PLEASE

I'm pretty sure they didn't intend for this timeline wreck, but it sure happened now. Congratulations Floatshine on speedrunning the kit-to-mother challenge in warrior cats.

As for the other unexpected mothers.

Lightleap and Blazefire had their kittens. Tawnypelt is now a great-grandmother and she's aware of it.

Myrtlebloom's litter is also absolutely useless and I don't know why they needed a whole other litter when they already have the Night sun kits and Moonpaw running around, and I cannot for the life of me guess who the father is, unless he's not from ThunderClan.

Appleshine had kits too. Guess the father is Flutterfoot if the brown both kits have is an indication.

Needleclaw's kittens are not my favorite idea, and fucking Kitescratch is 1. Related to her and 2. Close in age yeah, but again. Very random. He was bullying her brother,

there's really nothing going on with the mate choices in these books. They barely even use the new Crossclan gimmick. We have at least two (probably three with Myrtlebloom's unknown partner) couples that are related and none of them have Crossclan partners (or obviously I guessed wrong with the potential partners, maybe I'm very wrong with this assessment) and after ASC we're just going to go back to the usual cousin pairings as we've also seen with Bayshine and Thriftear.
