Fanfiction in the late 2000s-early 2010s was wild bc you'd find a beautifully written story with the most compelling heart-wrenching plot you've ever seen and the author's note would be like:

i don’t wanna start shit but i think it’s really interesting how good omens fandom is saying “death to the author. so it’s fine” and then hate harry potter fans

EDIT: i do NOT want ANY terfs/transphobes/radfems/bigots see this as an invitation to defend the actions of jkr or the bigotry within Harry Potter.

this is a critique of fandom behaviour and the hypocrisy that lies within it. this came from a point of frustration where people try to justify why it’s okay to financially support one creator while also demonizing another group for doing the same (to be clear, i want NEITHER to be financially supported)

have empathy for your fellow human being, that’s the bottom line. you are now coping with the reality of something you enjoy being created by a bad person.

now you must give yourselves the grace that you failed to give others who went through a similar situation. and also hold yourselves to the standards you deem to be morally correct.

Let there be Light

You probably noticed that one of the lamps in Aziraphale’s bookshop goes out after he gets into the elevator, clearly visible in the final shot. But of course this is Good Omens and the lamps aren’t just lamps, so let’s slither inside for a better look at what’s going on. Sometimes a little perspective change makes all the difference.

The twin lamps are actually statues of two brass cherubs facing the interior of the bookshop — their own world — just like the two angels we saw Before the Beginning facing the creation of the solar system, their current home. Aziraphale always on the left, Crowley on the right.

The fact that it’s the right — Crowley’s — lamp that broke at the end of the Final Fifteen can mean two things. Either the light of his life has left him that morning and the lamp reflects his loss, or just like a porch lamp it indicates that he’s the one not home, but in Heaven.

chapter 5: first hug, first kiss

None of Crowley's 4K lenses or selfie-cams in sunbeams did any justice to the depth of his amber irises, which positively shone in person, even in the diminishing light of their hotel overheads. The stark cool glow of the iPad screen glinted off the rivulets of brown, brightening and blending the lightest edges into a silky gold. He spent hours every day pouring over palettes and hand mixing the perfect pigments, but that yellow was the most beautiful colour Aziraphale had ever seen in his life.

Long overdue update

Hey everyone,

I've owed you all an update for a good chunk of time already, and I finally have one for you. I'm sorry it's taken so long. These past few months have been absolutely wretched.

They say that your first wlw break-up will absolutely wreck you, and that was very much true for me. When my girlfriend dumped me and broke my heart in early September, it sent me into a long downward spiral. I had already stopped being able to write while we were together for reasons I don't even understand, and heartbreak dried up my entire well of creativity. Then, at the end of November, my best friend of 23 years also friend-dumped me. I had the audacity to hold him accountable for lying to me repeatedly. December was swamped with work - my regular, FT job, my side gig running a church music program, and carolling gigs - and I was swamped with misery, too.

This past year I've also had a bunch of injuries (a sacroiliac joint that won't stay in place, 4 herniated discs in my neck (C3-C6), chondromalacia patella, aka runner's knee in both knees and arthritis developing in one). If that wasn't even, I've also discovered that I have PMDD, which is like PMS but so much worse, which has included mood dips that have crashed into rock bottom pretty regularly. I'm having surgery on New Year's Eve, an endometrial ablation, D&C, and an IUD inserted, so that's supposed to be helping. The mood lows and all the physical ailments have made working out, my standard stress-reliever, extra difficult, too, so it's just been a cocktail of crap, honestly.

I think I'm beginning to heal emotionally, and for a few days now, I've been feeling the itch to write again. Today it finally happened, and I wrote a goodly chunk on my Good Omens fic! I could almost cry - I've missed writing so much and it's so good to have it back!

I've lost the majority of my supporters on my patreon, and I can't blame anyone, given my lack of productivity. But if you're still someone who is supporting me financially, or even just still reading my fics (and I am still getting and responding to comments, I promise!), THANK YOU! Thank you for still finding my stuff worth coming back to. Thanks for still liking my stories. Thanks for still engaging with my tumblr, even though I've been so absentee. It means so much to me. And hopefully I'll have actual fic for you sooner rather than later!! The GO fic is currently at 30,400 words and finally growing again! I also have a hiking-theme Johnlock fic that's next in the queue after that - it's already started, but got stalled.

Happy New Year! I may be starting mine in a hospital, but at least my muses are with me again. <3
