On January the 14th 2006 Caterina will celebrate her 75th birthday and to the dismay of major European TV-stations and the print media, she has expressed the whish to keep this occasion absolutely private!īut with the publication of the never before released unedited-concert recording used for the famous Heidelberg TV Special including the restored video on DVD of the same special which premiered on CBS in 1969, fans and friends all over the world will once again be spellbound by the magic of this great entertainer! “Girltalk” her latest album of newly recorded material with harpist Catherine Michel was released to international critical acclaim in 2001. In 1986, her 50th anniversary in showbusiness was celebrated with a televised tribute entitled Bravo Caterina, and the Guiness Book of World Records recognized her as Europe’s most successful female recording artist, with over 1350 albums to her credit. Major awards from Italy, Germany (2 crosses of merit), France (officer of artistic education), Brazil, Japan as well as the USA (including a best female vocalist Grammy nomination) document her artistic and civil achievements throughout the years.īut she considers the 18 concerts sharing the stage of the Olympia in Paris with Michel Legrand in 1972 as well as the album VALENTE 86 with the Count Basie Orchestra and relative 1986 European Tour under the direction of, and with arrangements by Thad Jones, to be her artistic highlights. She starred in 12 European movie-musicals she dances (less exuberantly since undergoing two major hip operations) and is a virtuoso on the guitar, having strummed the instrument in an orchestra when only a teen-ager. The Grand Prix du Disque was her award in France for “Bimbombey” and she topped the charts in the US and the UK with the before mentioned “Malaguena” and “The Breeze and I”. In Italy romantic ballads like “Nessuno al mondo” and “Till” brought he gold records. Becoming a Mass Monster
“Dear Daniel,
Are you looking to get huge? To dominate in the weight room and on stage? To get freakishly big? Of course are! Even since your early days lifting at Eagle Gym, you’ve always dreamed at stepping on stage as a total mass monster. We know you’re hesitant to take on the extreme steroid cycles and growth hormone required to pack on that kind of insane size.   Well, Your friends at Énorme have created the perfect lean mass gainer that’ll add more size and strength than you could imagine.”
Thats how the email began. At first, Daniel figured it was just another new supplement company looking to find representatives, but the little details about his life startled him. How did they know he had an itch to get seriously big? How did they know where he got his start lifting?  Something about the email unsettled him, but it also intrigued him.
Since he was, afterall, a middle-weight bodybuilder looking to get big, so to speak, in the fitness industry, this  didn’t seem like a bad deal at all. A new supplement for lean mass? He was on board with the idea.
Tumblr media
Daniel Hernandez, with movie star good looks and in fantastic shape, had high hopes of getting attention in the fitness world. A recent set of professional pics had just been sent around to a supplement ad agency only hours ago, but this was the first “bite” he had gotten. He wrote back and said he was interested.
A few minutes after he shot off an email expressing interest he got a reply:
“Thanks Daniel,
We’re very happy you’re going to try out product. Just take some before and after photos, and I’m sure the results will speak for themselves! No need to get professional pictures done. Just send us the email with the updated shots and we’ll send you the money.  Your shipment is in the mail and will be sent to: 142 Chestnut Ave, Los Angeles, CA. 90042 USA.
Happy lifting and massive gains,
The Énorme team”
How did they know his address? This was a bit freaky. Unless his publicist had shared it with them? That must have been the case. Odd, because he didn’t think publicists would share addresses like that, but maybe it was to help him get free samples.
Only two days later a small package arrived addressed to him from Énorme. Inside was two small vials that simply said “Lean Mass gainer”.
At first Daniel thought it was a joke. No way was this stuff real.  He hadn’t spoken to his publicist about it, but something about the packaging, its simplicity, the professionalism of how it was put together and the instructions convinced him otherwise. He was intrigued, and the more he looked at the packaging, the more he read the label, the more intrigued he became. After a few days he felt compelled to try the stuff.
Daniel, following the instructions, downed the first vial. What harm could it do? He treated it like a preworkout and went to the gym. He lifted with so much energy, with a newfound vigor and strength that surprised him. He looked so pumped in the mirror.  His tank top even felt more snug than usual.
As the day went on Daniel swore he could feel his muscles growing. It was like the gym pump never subsided, but kept going. His arms and shoulders were looking bigger and more jacked than ever. Daniel knew his way around anabolics, but he never had heard of anything that worked like this. As he stared at his reflection in the bathroom at home he knew he was bigger. He looked bigger for sure, and his beard was coming in fast. Daniel showered put on a clean shirt and it felt tighter than normal. How was that possible? As the evening went on he continued to feel like his body was gaining more and more muscle mass.
Daniel stepped on the scale that evening. There was no denying now that he had grown. Instead of normal 210 pounds, Daniel was now pushing 240. He was so into this growth he got a boner from just looking at the numbers. Fucking hell, he had actually gained 30 pounds of solid muscle in a matter of hours. He jacked off at his own reflection, seeing his bigger arms flex with each pump. Fuck it felt so good to be big.
Daniel was horned up all night. He kept feeling up his bigger pecs and thicker arms and got worked up all over again. His chest hair, which he usually kept short, was growing in, and his beard was getting longer quickly. Fuck, he was getting hairier. All this testosterone was overloading his system. Even his dick felt fatter in his hands. Daniel slept like a rock after jerking off for the third time in bed. The
The next morning he moved quickly to head to the gym again. He cleaned up all the used up socks around his bed and got dressed. He was bigger and his shirts were tighter. He had a full beard. For the first time in his life he had grown out a full beard. He wore one of his big tank tops only to find it fit him well, hugging his increasingly hairy pecs. Fuck, He looked even bigger. After jerking off quickly Daniel went to the gym.
Tumblr media
Fuck he was big. He looked like a pro bodybuilder. The scale at the gym confirmed it. 260 pounds. He was one of the big boys now. Forget fitness magazines, Daniel wanted to be on the cover of FLEX magazine, or on stage at Mr. Olympia. He looked practically stage ready. 50 pounds of lean muscle mass had piled on without seemingly a single pound of fat. If anything, he looked even more defined.
It was hard to concentrate at the gym, he was so horned up. So obsessed with his new size. His strength was way up. Benching 405 was no problem now. He was probably the most jacked, and the strongest dude in his gym.
And he was nearly the size of a real mass monster now. Goddamn he loved this. He loved ever second of it. He was getting boned up at the gym just seeing his own muscles flex and press.
His libido continued running at this extreme high. The growth may have run its course but his testerone seemed to be supercharged. A super horned up 260 pound bodybuilder. Goddamn that wasn’t such a bad arrangement, not at all.
Days went by, and his libido didn’t repent. He had to jack off four or five times a day to keep himself in check. He needed new shirts to fit his broader, beefier muscular frame. Friends at the gym were shocked by his sudden growth. He kept jerking off in the mirror, loving his size, feeling his huge muscles up with his hands as he stroked his fat heavy cock. Goddamn, had that grown too? It felt thicker and maybe even longer, but it was hard to tell.
But Daniel wanted more still. He dreamed of more mass piling on to his frame again. That wave of growth had been such a high, he still hadn’t come down from it. Daniel had to keep trimming his beard and trimming back the chest hair every day. It was growing in fast and thick. He was a beast. It had to be his hyped up test levels.
And that second vial. It sat there on his nightstand, tempting him. He wanted more, he fucking loved being huge, and what a better way to get noticed than to be an absolute mass monster? This was his ticket, it would make his dreams of true muscle freakdom come true. He could be inhumanly massive. Inhumanly strong. Damn, had he always wanted to be that huge? Wasn’t he big enough? Nahh, he wanted more. Whatever voice of his that envisioned him at 260 forever was getting drowned out by the desire for more. Lots more.
So four days after his first transformation into a heavyweight bodybuilder, Daniel decided to make the plunge. Would it bring him another 50 pounds of pure muscle mass? Fuck, he’d be over 300 pounds if it did. Just the idea turned him on so much.
When did he get so horny thinking about muscle mass like this? Was this the side effect of stuff he took? Even other men’s muscles got him worked up now. Fuck, was he gay? Not that he had anything against gay guys, but he didn’t used to get a boner looking at other jacked guys. Now he was into it. Totally into it.
Fuck, maybe he was bi?
Daniel shrugged at the idea. Muscle mass was so fucking hot, who cares. He just wanted more. He wanted to get so huge that he wouldn’t be able to fit into any of his clothes. He wanted to outgrow the fucking doorway.
After hitting the gym that morning, Daniel came back home and without jesistaying, just downed that second vial. A warmth spread over his entire body like he hadn’t felt before. Fuck yeah, it was starting to work.
Daniel could actually see his muscles grow minute by minute, he stood there with the biggest boner of his life, flexing, posing, jerking off.. watching himself steadily grow larger and larger. It was intoxicating, insanely hot. He stepped on the scale just 30 minutes after taking the potion to find his weight had climbed to 280 pounds. He jerked off on the scale looking at those numbers and looking at the mass monster in the mirror in front of him. Jizz flung everywhere in the bathroom.
This was the best experience in his whole life, the best thing he had ever felt. Better than sex, better than drugs. Growth was the hottest thing he’d ever experience. He was so indebted to this company, what was their name? God he would rep them in anything they did now. He owed everything to them now.
God he was getting so huge. So enormous. Becoming the mass monster he always dreamed of being.
The mass kept piling on, faster than before. He walked around his apartment, noticing how his arms had to swing out further to move around his massive blown up lats. His saunter was more exaggerated as his quads had grown thicker and were now pressing against each other. His footfalls were heavy, deliberate. They seemed to shake the walls a little. He was getting hard, his fat dick slapping heavily against his massive thighs. He loved this. Daniel made his way back to the bathroom to examine the changes further. His triceps hit the doorframe as he walked into the bathroom.
How big was he going to get? He looked into the mirror and was shocked to see his size. Looking down he could barely see passed his pumped up pecs, which now was getting a thick coat of fur on them. He sauntered back to the scale. 304... fuck no wonder his arms were flaired out to his sides like that, no wonder his footsteps were so heavy. Goddamn he had made it. He had grown to muscle freak status.
And he was still growing. Steadily growing. It wasn’t noticeable with the passing seconds, but it was event he was still getting bigger with the passing minutes. Lats pushing out wider, shoulders growing more and more broad, pecs blowing up, his arms packing on more mass. He tested the doorway to see if he could clear it at his shoulders now. He still had tiny bit off space to clear the doorway at his shoulders, but not at his arms, which pushed out far from his sides due to their hulking mass. Damn, he really was wider than the doorway now. It was such a rush.
Daniel jerked off furiously again, watching the overblown muscular beast in the mirror flex with each tug on his thick cock. His dick felt heavy and fat in his hands. He was definitely bigger down there now too. No way to deny it now.
He came again just looking at himself. All that freaky mass, that size, that bulk. He was a monster, a gigantic hulking stud. Overblown muscles growing so big they seemed almost impossible. So overgrown.
327 pounds. Fucking hell, that was more than 50 pounds. No wonder this was so much more intense than last time. He began jerking up again, unable to keep his big fat dick down. It had a mind of its own now and it didn’t want to quit.
His beard was getting heavy. Growing higher up on his cheeks. It was getting heavy on his massive chest too. Swirling fur was starting to cover those huge bulging pecs. God he was an animal. A freaky huge muscle bear he thought. Wait, what? A bear? Where did that term come from?
Daniel kept growing over the next few hours. His shoulders finally growing too wide for his door frame. Even sideways, getting through doors in his home would be a little tricky. He was that massive, that thick. All night he had Slowly morphed into a freak of inhuman size. An utter overblown giant in the world of bodybuilding that would put most mass monsters to shame. 360 something pounds of hairy lean muscle. Pure, extreme, mass.
Daniel lost count how many times he blew his loads, he just knew his hefty 9 incher was tired by the end of it, sore from too much use and abuse. His heavy balls were still pumping out more cum, but he could keep up. He passed out that night with cum soaked towels covering every inch of his floor.
Daniel could hardly reconcile with the freak had become. Muscle mass competed for space on his 5’9” frame. He could barely His libido was now barely manageable, his dick was huge, beer-can thick, constantly sporting a chub, and eager to blow. He had to trim his beard back, it had grown enormous since taking the potion. He had to clean up all the hair on his stomach and abs too...at least if he wanted people to see the definition. And he definitely wanted people to see the definition.
Jerking off, Working out, eating, and jerking off more. This was his life now. He was meant to be seen, meant to be stared at. And he did get stared at. Everywhere he went.
Daniel got a new set of professional physique photos taken a few days later. The world of bodybuilding ignited into furious speculation and talk over this new giant, this new 360 pound freak, that was now making his presence known online and on instagram.
Tumblr media
Daniel didn’t know how to thank Enorme except to write them back with the new photos attached. He explained to them how much attention he was getting now, how many other offers he was getting from supplement companies... and his deep deep gratitude to their product.
A few weeks later, Daniel got another vial. A hot gay bodybuilder, Jordan, had come over for another hot session of muscle worship when the package arrived. Jordan was just starting to suck off the giant muscle freak when Daniel heard the package come to the front door.
It was from Enorme. A letter of thanks for the photos and a little note. “We wanted to provide you with some more lean mass, in case you’d like to show anyone else how well it works” Daniel look at three more vials with the note “these extra vials are for sharing, that is, if you want to” and a smile crossed his face.
“Hey Jordan” Daniel called out from the hall. “Are you looking to get huge?” Daniel went back to the bedrooms and handed Jordan the vial. “Just drink this”.

Derek Lunsford Hopes Change Will Help Him Win the 212 Olympia Title
Derek Lunsford was a rising star in the 212 division that appeared to be on an express lane to legendary status. He went from winning the 2017 USA’s to taking first at the Tampa Pro six days later. He then went on to place fifth after the Olympia a few weeks later. He then followed that up with a runner-up performance at the 2018 Olympia to Flex Lewis who then gracefully retired from that…

Gorgeous new footage lets you fly over a vast, ice-filled crater on Mars
Tumblr media
We love flyover videos from other worlds. These stunning videos, created from imagery gathered by orbiting spacecraft, can give us a sense of what it would be like to fly in an airplane on another planet.
This latest flyover video from the European Space Agency’s Mars Express spacecraft, provides a stunning view of one of Mars’ most eye-popping craters.
youtube
This movie was created using an imagery from Mars Express’ High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC).
The images are normally taken looking straight down (nadir), and the video combines topography information from the stereo channels of HRSC to generate a three-dimensional landscape, which was then recorded from different perspectives, as with a movie camera, to render the flight shown in the video.
Korolev Crater is 82 kilometers (50 miles) across and at least 2 km (1.25 miles) deep. This well-preserved crater is located the northern lowlands of Mars, just south of a large patch of dune-filled terrain that encircles part of the planet’s northern polar cap (known as Olympia Undae).
Tumblr media
Overhead view of Korolev Crater on Mars. (ESA/DLR/FU Berlin)
That’s not snow you’re seeing, but this crater is constantly filled with water ice, and its central mound is about 1.8 kilometers (1.1 miles) thick all year round. It’s one of the largest reservoirs of non-polar ice on Mars.
This view reminds me of a flight I took where I flew over Meteor Crater in Arizona USA. But for comparison, Meteor Crater is less than a mile across (.737 miles/1.186 km) and just 560 feet (170 m) deep.
You may be thinking, how can this ice remain stable in Korolev Crater; doesn’t water ice sublimate away in Mars thin atmosphere?
Just like dry ice does here on Earth, water ice on Mars usually goes from solid to gas with the low atmospheric pressure. (Mars has approximately 8 millibars while on Earth the average, atmospheric pressure at sea level is 1013.25 millibars, or about 14.7 pounds per square inch.)
But temperature can influence ice stability as well. Water ice is permanently stable within the Korolev Crater because the deepest part of this depression acts as a natural cold trap.
The scientists at ESA explain that the air above the ice cools and is thus heavier compared to the surrounding air: since air is a poor conductor of heat, the water ice mound is effectively shielded from heating and sublimation.
The name of the crater may be familiar. It’s named after Russian rocket engineer and spacecraft designer Sergei Pavlovich Korolev (1907-1966). He developed the first Russian intercontinental rocket R7, the precursor of the modern Soyuz rockets that are still operated today.
With his rocket and spacecraft design, he was also responsible for the first human-made satellite (Sputnik in 1957) and for the first human spaceflight (Yuri Gagarin in 1961).

Implicit Bias in Health Care
Implicit Bias in Health Care
Maysa Walters
What is an Implicit Bias?
Implicit bias, also known as unconscious bias is an attitude or stereotype that affects a person's decision, action or understanding in an unconscious manner. Implicit biases develop early in a person’s life, social stereotypes and prejudices are often a result. The biases can be contributed to parental influence, social media, and news articles. The bias is a result of the brain’s tendency to look for patterns in the world. These biases often lead to discrimination against African Americans. Thirty percent of African Americans believe that their health is dependent upon fate or destiny and only about 50% feel that health is a high priority. Overtime bias tests have been created, the tests measure unconscious/ automatic biases. A common test done in many health care organizations is The Implicit Association Test (IAT), which tests one’s overall conscious control. The test provides images while measuring the associations between concepts, evaluations, and stereotypes.
Tumblr media
TED Talk: We All Have Implicit Biases. So What Can We Do About It?
Data from the IAT website suggests:
Implicit bias is pervasive; everyone possesses them
Most people are unaware of his/her implicit bias
Often predict behavior
The spectrum of implicit bias; some show higher or lower levels of bias
Body language and verbal communication can express an unconscious bias. In healthcare facilities, unconscious stereotypes have been found through the IAT. These biases can lead to different treatments and decision- making, leading to potential health complications. Although unintentional, a lack of communication and trust between patient and provider is a result.
Implicit Bias effect on Healthcare?
The health care disparities that are seen today can be a result of implicit bias. Unknown discrimination by caregivers concludes that racism is dispersed through the United States medical facilities. Health care providers have created a racial frame, not providing equitable health care to African Americans. A primary example of implicit bias in health care is Black women are three to four times more likely to die from complications during pregnancy and childbirth to those of White women. Lack of communication, concern and personal treatment are all a result of biases in health care. Implicit bias is not isolated to African Americans or adults it can be seen in minorities as a whole. African Americans are often targeted due to racism.
Tumblr media
Who are the Primary Targets?
Minorities, in general, are those at the highest risk of being targeted with implicit bias. Primarily those of African descent have the highest rate of health complications after receiving medical treatment. However, demographics, prior health conditions, and socioeconomics are difficult to assess.
Examples of those at higher risk of implicit bias in health care include:
Race
Gender
Country of Origin
Financial Status
Specific health conditions tend to vary in the care given, and the severity of complications. Pregnant African American women have a higher chance of death during pregnancy than white women. The statistics prove this, African American women are three to four times more likely than white women to die from complications during pregnancy or childbirth. Black women are more likely to die after being diagnosed with breast cancer. These health conditions are all treatable, but it comes down to how our healthcare providers assist with the complication. Do they meet their patient's needs? Are they viewing the complications from multiple angles? Is the patient-provider relationship as strong as it should be? These are all questions the medical provider should be asking when dealing with his or her patient,  regardless of their sex, race, and demographics.
Tumblr media

Serena William’s Story
Serena Williams, 23 singles Grand Slams, mother and wife. She was a victim of the implicit bias in the healthcare system, and it nearly cost her everything. Williams’s experience began with an emergency C -section. Fortunately, Williams’s first procedure was successful without complications. Less than 24 hours, the new mother was fighting for her own life, based on complications in which she had previously informed her nurses and doctors about. Williams has a history of pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs), she would not take any chances if feeling the least bit unsure post-surgery. It took the tennis star to get out of bed and get providers' attention before even checking on her health. Williams had to tell nurses how to treat her condition before they even considered it to be a blood clot. No urgency or consideration for the athlete’s opinion on her body the nurse disregarded Williams’s wishes. Soon enough the doctors were performing ultrasounds. After continual advice, and concern from the patient, a CT was given and came back positive for blood clots. Due to her coughs from the embolism, it caused her C- section wound to rupture resulting in another surgery. Three surgeries later and Williams was able to think about her future with her daughter, and husband, Alexis Ohanian. This is one of many examples of how implicit bias can result in further health complications.

What Interventions can be Taken to Reduce Implicit Bias?
People are taking action regarding implicit bias in health care. Skills training, organizational support, and other resources are successfully reducing racism and increasing the quality of care patients receive.
Skills used to lower racial bias include:
Assignments to identify stereotypes, race, and racism through learning objectives
Mandatory Racial Bias courses in medical schools
Patient-provider partnerships; build a relationship between provider and patient and create a theme of working towards a common goal
To create a safe, bias-free environment in health care facilities the discrimination needs to be understood and addressed. By implementing programs that current and future hospital employees attend will contribute to reducing the bias. By eliminating implicit bias in health care patients will feel more secure and their patient-provider relationship will grow.

Reflection:
The purpose of my explainer on implicit bias in healthcare was to inform my selected audience in a way that was simple to understand, yet still academic. I wanted my explainer to be visually appealing in a simplistic manner. It was important to me that my explainer exploits the importance of this issue in the United States and that the biases can be reduced if action is taken place. My target audience is the general public, and users of social media, specifically young adults. My choice of medium was quite impactful for my target audience. Choosing to post my explainer on a blog allows all users of Tumblr to access my project. Including images, and specifically, a TED Talk into my explainer attracts social media users' attention. Using a TED Talk allows for information, in a quick, modern way. By keeping my explainer professional, yet appealing to the eye, helped meet my purpose of the importance of bias in healthcare. My audience was my final choice in choosing a blog. Blogs allow for other multimodal aspects within them that were also helpful in my decision making. I did consider creating a website but felt a blog was easier access for social media users and the general public. The most challenging aspect in terms of technology with Project 2 was creating my different forms of multimodality. Finding a video that was interesting and creating a hyperlink through the blog was the most difficult part. It took time to find a video that would appeal to my audience, and then adding it to my explainer and keeping the visual appeal took multiple attempts. The easiest part of the technology was using Tumblr, the website is very easy to navigate and make your post unique and professional. Overall the course work leading up to the final project was very beneficial. I was able to use what I learned throughout Project 1 and apply it to this unit. I enjoy that the project always for individuality and the choosing of our own topic. Lastly, peer review has been very beneficial to my overall growth as a writer.
Outcome A.  “Analyze, compose, and reflect on arguments in a variety of genres, considering the strategies, claims, evidence, and various mediums and technologies that are appropriate to the rhetorical situation.”
At first Outcome A was difficult for me. I have never considered having to explain something to an audience as a rhetoric situation. Because this genre was new to me, I had to view a variety of examples before understanding the overall concept. Analytically I had to look at my material through a different point of view. The outlook from the general population helped me understand how to compose and phrase my writing. The different mediums and technologies worked well for me because I wanted it to be technologically relevant, thus the choice of a blog. I also incorporated a “TED Talk” into my explainer, I feel these are popular in today’s society and will help grab the reader’s attention.
Outcome C.  “Use multiple approaches for planning, researching, prewriting, composing, assessing, revising, editing, proofreading, collaborating, and incorporating feedback in order to make your compositions stronger in various mediums and using multiple technologies.”
Outcome C worked well with the prewriting/ course work that was completed prior to Project 2. Much of my research for Project 2 had been completed in Project 1. The composition of my explainer revolved around Basic Features and Moves of Explainers, these examples really benefitted me and assisted in the overall format, and mediums to be used for the assignment. This project specifically I focused on collaborating with others by giving them the best feedback I could for them, as well as incorporating the feedback they give to me. By incorporating my peers and CAPS tutors feedback my explainer was able to reach a higher academic level, and hopefully became easier for others to benefit from my explainer on implicit bias in healthcare.
Outcome D. “Improve your fluency in the dialect of Standardized Written American English at the level of the sentence, paragraph, and document.”
Project 2 influenced my sentence and paragraph structure positively. I was able to add variety to my writing by having to explain to the general public about my topic. Because it was not a typical essay format I was able to use different styles to grab the reader's attention. For example, the use of headings, subheadings, and bullet points was new to my writing. At first it was difficult to identify headings that would grab my reader's attention and correlate with my topic, but eventually, I was able to connect the two. Fluency was hard to obtain because the audience was so broad. Revision of my sentences to make my document academic, interesting and interesting played a major role in Project 2.

How to understand the idea of marginality in Brazilian Culture situation? What does it mean to be marginal in the '60s in Brazil? How the musicians, fil makers and artists deal with the Brazilinan sexuality and popular culture during the '60s?
We need to have in mind that Brazil never had an established culture, all the "culture movements" that were was all temporary. In the '60s  Brazil was behind Europe and the United States in terms of modernization, with all the "tries" to develop a firm culture, Brazil was in delay compared with other countries. The government of Brazil had a different idea of modernization, in order to fit in, it was to "accept", in a way, the tropical/ farm/ rural look of the country. Making a statement that "we don't have industries but we have beaches, Canaval, fields...". Going in another way of Europe/U.S.A modernization. This became the Brazilian way of Modernization. A consequence was that international institutes and governments saw Brazil as not industrialized but a "lazy" country. The upper class said that was a blessed by God country, full of beaches but, for me, this sounds more like an excuse for not seeking modernization. This view of Brazil expanded to all Art Mediums: Music, Design and Fine Arts, this "movement" was called Tropicália. The problem was that Brazilian Culture has found himself as an idea of a Marginal (the idea of the Brazilian who can't read/write/not intelligent, but at the same time have a house on the beach and lives a "chill" life) the new Idealized Brazil (only found during Carnaval). This generated a called "Durty Culture, this was a movement of young people, mainly in music, composers, artists that were against Romanticized Brazil. Kinds of music like "País Tropical" is a great example of marginality inside the Brazilian culture. Also the rise of the "Pornochanchadas" trash porn, that was an explicit expression of the marginal culture. With the popularization of the Popular (Marginal) Culture tension began to start. The only form of Culture Brazil had was the idea of being marginal, and Europe/USA had for sure established- Brazilians=Marginals. That was fine for the upper class, but for the other, these ideas were starting to annoy them. It began a class clash between upper and lower classes. That was the time the Cinema "came to show". The New Brazilian Cinema, was defined more like an anti-Cinema (anti-classic for upper-class cinema), it was full realism of the life of the Brazilian people, that means, it was a miserable life. In the music area, the song "Cynema Olympia "by Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil was fully anti-bossa-nova, with forced accents and lack of rhythm. It was not about art, it is about society.

Rules: answer the questions & tag 20 (Ashling: Not likely to happen in my case, lmao) blogs you want to get to know better
Name: Ashling Family name: I keep my real name private because I work in a public job and I don’t want clients finding my Tumblr! Star Sign: Virgo Height: 5′2″ Age: 23 Fave Color: Teal, that odd light color where you can’t tell if it’s a blue or a green. Time RN: 7:51am Hours of Sleep: Lately, about 7 hours/night. Lucky Number: 7 Last Thing I Googled: “what is RSS tumblr” (Check out my new theme, btw #spon) Fave Fictional Character: Oh gods, this is a hard question. No one will ever top Hermione Granger, but I have to give a shout out to Lani Garver of What Happened to Lani Garver by Carol Plum-Ucci. Blankets I Sleep With: 1 at home, 2 at parents’ houses. Favorite Artists: Music: The Used Painter: Van Gogh, honorary mention to Alan Falk because I’ve known him personally. Dream Trip: All the incredible, historical, beautiful places in Europe. When Did Your Blog Reach Its Peak: I mean, it’s still growing slowly, but my follower count rose pretty quickly after I made the post about Dan’s birthday tweet for Phil and how it seemed like the “our lives” he refers to is Phil’s and Dan’s life together, rather than all their subscribers. Why Did You Make This Blog: I have just been watching Dan and Phil on YouTube, but it became clear I needed some other way to express my obsession. So I decided to make a phan blog and participate in the community I’d heard so much about! Do You Get Asks On A Daily Basis: I rarely get asks, but it’s nice because I appreciate every single one! There’s nothing I love more on Tumblr than having someone want to reach out to me, whether that be through an ask or in messaging! Why Did You Choose Your URL: I like adding phan to words to create a new meaning specific to the phandom. I get a kick out of word play. Anarchy was the first word that came to mind that began with “an” so I tried it out! It was free and I kind of liked that meaning (not an anarchist irl, just like it in theory). Countries You’ve Lived In: Just the USA. (Help me, I’m scared.) Favorite Fandom: I’ll have to say the phandom, because while Harry Potter and Doctor Who will always keep a higher place in my heart, I’ve never participated in the fandom itself outside of just talking with people I know who also enjoy it. Languages You Speak: English only. I took Spanish in high school though, and at one point was told I could totally get by in Spain without a translation guide, but all that went out the window after 6 years of disuse. Basically any supernatural scary movie creature that crawls on the ground in that non-human way. How Would Your Friends Describe You: Smart, independent, driven, and a kind person. If You Had $$$ To Spend What Would You Buy First: I’m assuming this means like, unlimited money. So I would go with a mansion that all my close family could live in rent-free so they don’t have to stress about money. They’d need to help with taxes though! ;) Shuffle Your Song Library And List The First Three Songs That Play: These are the first songs that played that I actually listen to, because I’ve got a lot of music on here I don’t even check out. That Green Gentleman - Panic! at the Disco, Manta Rays - Ludo,  Cold and Blue and Lifeless - Bayside.

Support These Independent Coffee Roasters From Home
There’s a chance we may be headed towards a nationwide shutdown of bars, restaurants, and yes, coffee shops in response to Coronavirus, an action that has already been instituted in certain US states to help  flatten the curve and save lives.
Until that happens you need to tip, dammit, and buy gift cards, and watch for companies in your community converting to take-out, drive-thru and delivery (follow us on Twitter for updates). But another very wonderful thing you can do to support the coffee industry right now is to buy coffee online. Delicious coffee! Coffee you will need to have at home in order to thrive and be well in the weeks ahead.
To help facilitate this action, here’s more than a dozen roasters off the top of our heads that would happily sell you delicious coffee right now, delivered to your door. Each one is an independent roaster we here at Sprudge know personally to be purveyors of utterly delicious coffee.
Some are in America, others are not. All are operated by humans. This list includes a few of our sponsors, whose support makes our daily publishing work at Sprudge possible, as well as many other indie roasters we admire. This is just a start—the comments to this post are open and we’ll be updating and sharing more recommendations along the way, so be sure to let us know more great folks to buy from.
Buy multiple things. Try something new. Share this post with your family and friends—we’ve been sure to include a broad range of roast profiles and price points for every coffee drinker you love—and watch for more stories like this from us in the coming hours.
Bolt Coffee — Providence, Rhode Island
Yummy delicious coffee from the artsy weirdo haven of Providence, Rhode Island. We’ve featured Bolt a couple of different ways over the years, including a fun design feature, a 2016 Build-Outs of Summer spotlight, and as part of our Coffee Lover’s Guide to Providence.
Check out Bolt Coffee’s online shop and try their Papua New Guinea Sero Bebes or Honduras Rafael Lara, or any other coffee that catches your eye. $5 flat shipping across the USA. Pick up an Aerobie AeroPress while you’re at it!
Camber Coffee — Bellingham, Washington
More fabulous coffee from a college town, this time from Camber Coffee in Bellingham, Washington (so close to Canada you can pick up watch MuchMusic). We’ve featured Camber a bunch on the site over the years, most notably in a long read on their roasting work making waves, and more recently in a design feature on their Artist Series.
More so than perhaps any other independent American roaster, the range of Camber’s offerings is consistently excellent. We’d recommend checking out their sample box set to try a broad selection of current offerings, and don’t miss the aforementioned Artist Series.
Deadstock Coffee — Portland, Oregon
Global attention has rightfully come over the last few years to Deadstock Coffee, a single shop roaster retailer based in the Old Town neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. There’s nowhere else quite like it in America: an effortless, preternatural fusing of sneaker and streetwear culture with contemporary coffee at its core. It’s a Sprudge staff favorite for good reason; read our in-depth interview with founder Ian Williams from 2018 to learn more.
Perhaps underreported, then, is Deadstock’s growth in the last year into one of the Pacific Northwest’s very best indie roasters. In collaboration with collaborative roasting cooperative Buckman Coffee Factory, Williams and the crew (including manager Kevin Minnieweather and all-world barista + design duo The Twinterns) are serving standout delicious espresso and filter coffee alongside memorable origninal drinks. Visit Deadstock’s official website for ordering information and go with one the blends as your new daily filter coffee drinker at home, perfect on its own or with a little alternative milk (like say, Portland’s own Pacific Foods Barista Series).
Ditta Artiganale — Florence, Italy
So much love and solidarity to our coffee family in Italy, where a total shut-down on restaurants and cafes has been in place now for several days. Sprudge was the first international coffee publication to report on Ditta Artigianale, all the way back in 2014, from founder and Italian Barista Champion Francesco Sanapo. How wonderful to watch the company grow and expand in the years since—we drank coffee here every day during our recent trip to Florence to visit the incredible new Accademia del Caffè.
Ditta offers worldwide shipping with a range of beautiful coffees, including a lovely Dari Hambela from Ethiopia and the much-loved Finca El Puente from the Herrera family Honduras. As you would expect from a thoroughly Italian company, Ditta’s merch is knockout, including some of the coolest coffee socks in the business.
Elixr Coffee — Philadelphia, PA
We’ve got big love for Elixr Coffee of Philadelphia, who recently hosted Sprudge’s founders on their book tour, and were the subject of this loving packaging spotlight feature. Elixr’s webstore has a really interesting hook-up: three bags of coffee, your choice, all for $45. Mix and match sought after single origin coffees from the likes of La Palma y El Tucan and Finca Las Brumas with blends like Beekeper or Treehouse.
Their founder can pour Gritty—’nuff said.
3FE  — Dublin, Ireland
All the coffee world loves 3FE, founder and author Colin Harmon’s iconic Irish roaster / retailer with two locaitons in Dublin, plus restaurant spin-offs Gertrude and Daniel. Our readers voted 3FE as the top choice for Sustainable Cafe at the 2019 Sprudgie Awards presented by Pacific Barista Series, and they’ve been a fixture on our website over the last decade, from long read interviews to roaster spotlights and features on noted wholesale partners like Filter Coffee in County Cork. Harmon’s brand is so synonymous  with the Irish coffee scene we once commissioned a guide called “Dublin: Five Great Cafes (That Aren’t 3FE)“.
Good cafes helped build the brand, there’s no doubt, but today 3FE’s roasting is some of the best in all Europe. There’s a range of origins available, including a really intersting Biodynamic natural processed Indian arabica from the Nilgiris region, along with clean, lovely washed Bourbon from Guatemala’s Finca La Soledad and washed Pacamara from El Salvador’s Finca Las Brumas. Irish readers can sign up for subscriptions; for the rest of us, shipping to the United States is just €8.00 with Standard Post. And if you like a bit of milk with your coffee, try pairing 3FE’s filter-ready Momentum Blend with a splash of Minor Figures oat milk.
Koppi — Helsingborg, Sweden
Swedish sunshine in a cup from husband and wife duo Anne Lunell and Charles Nystrand. Koppi is served at several of the finest coffee bars and restaurants across Europe, from Scandinavian Embassy in Amsterdam to Lyle’s in London.
Koppi offers a tough to beat free international shipping option when you order four bags. I have literally never had a bad Koppi coffee, but especially love the depth of flavor and expression they coax from distinct Colombian coffees like Finca Los Alpes and the Nunez family’s El Sapo. Small roasters like this feel as much like supporting artists or creatives as they do following a coffee brand, and there is something personal and refreshing about that. Follow them on Instagram for more adventures and cute photos of their dog.
Monarch Coffee — Kansas City, Missouri
From cafe experience and design to a commitment to diversity and education, Monarch Coffee walks the walk for what a young coffee company can be in 2020. Longtime Sprudge contributor and competition photographer Charlie Burt went big in his March 2019 feature on the brand: “This place represents not just what’s possible here in Kansas City, but for the coffee culture at large headed into the next decade.”
All that goodness would be well enough, but the company’s roasting is every bit as on point, walking a delicate line between accessible and expressive. Pastel pink bags of Iyula AA Tanzania and Monteblanco Gesha Colombia won’t just look good on your countertop—they’ll taste great, too.
Olympia Coffee Roasting Company — Olympia, Washington
Simply one of the best roasters in the United States, regardless of size or geography, Olympia Coffee Roasting Company have been standardbearers for third wave coffee culture in the Pacific Northwest since 2005. Now with a Seattle flagship and a handsome cafe roastery in Tacoma’s historic Proctor District to complement three hometown coffee bars, “Oly Coffee” have established themselves as the pan-Northwestern roaster of record.
This is another brand where I’ve honestly never had a bad coffee, but no mention of Oly is complete without shouting loudly and repeatedly about how great their decaf is. The brand’s Asterisk program is a revolving single origin decaf coffee, currently from Colombia’s San Sebastian Project. Also wonderful is Olympia’s ever-changing Big Truck blend, an organic melange that just took home 2020 Good Food Awards finalist honors. All retail orders ship free.
Pilot Coffee Roasters — Toronto, Ontario
Toronto’s Pilot Coffee Roasters have been featured across Sprudge in a variety of different ways over the last few years: in our 2019 Toronto coffee guide; in two separate Build-Outs of Summer features, from 2017 and 2019, respectively; and at Nemesis Coffee in Vancouver, a 2017 Sprudgie nominee for Best New Cafe.
There’s no doubt they’re building a cool little empire in Ontario, but if you’re US based, they’ll happily ship—and this is a great time to try their coffees. Pick up a single origin like the Catalan De Las Mercedes “Red Bourbon” from Guatemala, and pair that with a home coffee maker friendly blend like Academy.
Ruby Coffee Roasters — Nelsonville, Wisconsin
Perhaps you know the story by now. Fella from rural Wisconsin winds up working at the reach break of the early third wave coffee boom—Intelligentsia Coffee in Los Angeles in the late Naughty Aughties—before putting in time for a landmark Seattle cafe brand. Fella gives up the city life, moves back to rural Wisconsin, and sets up a progressive third wave roaster in the family farmhouse. He names the brand after his grandma.
Liz Clayton’s 2015 feature on Ruby Coffee Roasters remains a must-read on the brand, but it’s been a long five years since, during which time the brand has expanded wholesale nationally and opened a coffee bar community hub. One of the most interesting ways to drink Ruby is via their instant coffee collaboration with Sudden Coffee of San Francisco. If whole bean is more your jam, check out Ruby’s bunker-ready Sampler Pack.
Tandem Coffee Roasters — Portland, Maine
Much love to Tandem Coffee of Portland, Maine, who earlier this year scored what may well have been the first James Beard Award nomination for a coffee shop (honoring co-founder and baker Brianna Holt).  Tandem featured prominently in our Portland Maine Coffee Guide from (checks notes) 2012, which is due for a dang update, and they were part of our first-ever season of Build-Outs of Summer.
Tandem’s web shop offers a bunch of incredible stuff, and while unfortunately there is no way to ship a box of Brianna Holt’s cookies, you can sign up for their super unique coffee + vinyl subscription, shop for clever merch and home brewing essentials, and shop for tasty coffees like Burundi Kibingo or Kenya Kiboi.
Tipico Coffee – Buffalo, New York
Is this the coziest cafe in America? Probably. Longtime coffee industry veteran Jesse Crouse (formerly of Intelligentsia, Verve, and Gimme! Coffee) launched Tipico in 2015, helping bring coffee along for the culinary and craft beer rocket ride of the great Buffalonian revival of recent years. Back in 2015 they were pretty revolutionary for this town, but these days Buffalo is home to a wider thriving coffee scene, documented here in our February 2020 Buffalo Coffee Guide.
Ordering some coffee from Tipico is the correct move for yourself, your taste buds, and the universe. Try their sugar cane processed Colombia Cauca, or a nice natural processed Ethiopian from the Kayon Mountain Estate. And if you’re shut in with someone who enjoys a bold, robust profile, Tipico offers an exemplary Dark Roast option.
Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters — San Francisco, California
We go way, way back with Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters of San Francisco and its founders, Nick Cho and Trish Rothgeb, covering their work in San Francisco and beyond since 2012. We’ve known them even longer—listen to a couple of our Sprudge Origin Story podcasts (1 & 2) to learn more. But in the here and now Wrecking Ball has grown from a landmark Cow Hollow cafe to a Sprudgie Award nominated Berkeley hub, winning over converts and helping define what the next wave of coffee in American can be.
We’re not just old friends, we’re also fans. Rothgeb, Cho and their team oversee a smart roasting operation, with bags decked out in bright splashes of neon yellow (pair them with your favorite sneaker selfie). Pillow Fight is one of the country’s top evolving espresso blends; pair that with an Ethiopia Yirgacheffe or a nice exclusive coffee from Northwest Peru.
