Rising into the sky beyond, like plague boils on the body of an incurably sick man, were the hills of Rome.

Do you like any book series?
Oooh I already answered this one but here, copy pasted from the ask that's like yours ^^:
For books I’ll always recommend the Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld, if you’re into historical war retellings with steampunk aspects.
The Monstrumologist series by Rick Yancy if ya fancy some monster horror
The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa if you’re into faeries and smoochin faeries I guess lol
Steelheart series by Brandon Sanderson and Villains series by V.E. Schwab if you like post-apocalyptic/dark superheroes stories.
aaaand Ascendance series by Jennifer Nielsen which is a series I read when I was younger which is about war, royal conspiracy, and all that funky stuff lol
Of course I also love some of the classics like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes plus lots of the Shakespearean plays bc I’m a stupid theater kid wjsjfjsnd

As with the past two years, I'll be regularly editing this post and crossing off the books I've read to keep count of my progress. Wish me luck!

intro:
i figured i would put up a pinned post as a sort of directory to make navigation easier since i reblog a lot in between my art/writing, and maybe include some basic information so i'm not like a ghost floating around here.
favorite book(s): LOTR/all things tolkien, phantom by susan kay, the expanse series by james s a corey, mary stewart's merlin trilogy, the song of acheillese by madeline miller, the hangman's daughter series by oliver pötzsch, darker shade of magic series by V.E schwab, jack whyte's camulod chronicles
favorite tv series: spartacus, the last kingdom, bbc merlin, arcane
favorite movie: jim henson's labyrinth
favorite games: dragon age (origins/awakening), elder scrolls (oblivion/skyrim), stardew valley
favorite podcast: mr. ballen & his medical mysteries
i always make illustrations to go with the drabbles i write here, so i'll include both art and stories under this tag: #doodle
please feel free to send any DMs, asks, and requests! i'm not an "official" commission artist, though i'm not opposed to working something out if you really want a more detailed piece done by me. otherwise, i am just super appreciative of likes, reblogs, and conversation! thanks for checking out my stuff + following!

For the ask game: 1, 5, 11, 13 and 30
do u prefer a standalone or a series? I love series because I can't always get attached to characters in just one book - or I do get attached and miss that we don't have more time together.
5. enemies to lovers or friends to lovers? I will be honest and I haven't actually read many enemies to lovers books, but I do enjoy friends to lovers. Peeta really raised the bar there.
11. the best book u have ever read? This is so hard!! Wolf brother captivated me like no other book when i was 14 and I still go back to the series and adore it. Goblet of Fire was my favourite book for like 10 years and I've read it over 50 times. I used to just read it, finish, start again (and we did a quiz about that book against kids at waterstones, not knowing we'd be the only people without kids, and i absolutely destroyed the competition lmao).
13. ur fav author( if u have any)? Terry Pratchett <3 I was fortunate enough to get a ticket to his memorial and I sobbed like a baby
Tumblr media
30. give any 3 book recs to ur followers!
Year of the Reaper by Makiia Lucia - post-historical plague, Cass can see the dead and is trying to return home after 3 years spent in a rotting prison, but assassins are targeting the queen. The Hangman's Daughter by Oliver Pötzsch - Set in 17th Century Bavaria, Magdalena is the daughter of the hangman and her father is tasked with getting a confession about a woman they accuse of witchcraft.
Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Roth - Clementine is ready to take over from her father as the ward who prevents magic from flowing to the village every full moon. Two magicians show up and challenge them to the rights to the village and there is a curse afoot.

The Hangman’s Daughter by Oliver Pötzsch
I don't have much to say on this one: it was fine, if you're a fan of witch trials and adventures (which I am). I didn't really dislike it or like it all that much, so don't have too much else to add. The animated illustrations that accompanied it on my e-reader were fun, though.

2 and 22
2. Did you reread anything? What? - I just finished listening to My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix! This was my second time reading it and it was so good.
22. What’s the longest book you read? - I don’t know, actually. I’m guessing it was either The Master’s Apprentice or The Devil’s Pawn, both by Oliver Pötzsch.
