Greg Chase recalled from Maine, Jake Elmer reassigned to Mariners BY: Bob Crawford, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, March 1, 2020:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the Wolf Pack has recalled forward Greg Chase from its ECHL affiliate, the Maine Mariners and that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned forward Jake Elmer from the Wolf Pack to Maine. Chase, a fifth-year pro out of the Western Hockey League, has skated in 42 games with the Mariners this season, posting 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points, plus 56 penalty minutes.  The 6-0, 190-pound Edmonton, Alberta native stands third on the Maine club in PIM and has the fourth-most assists on the team.  Last year, Chase, 25, who was signed to an AHL contract by the Wolf Pack July 1, 2019, played in five games with the Wolf Pack, going scoreless with four penalty minutes and two shots on goal.  He also logged a total of 64 ECHL games with three different teams.  In 41 contests with the Mariners, Chase notched 21 goals and 21 assists for 42 points, as well as 72 penalty minutes.  He also suited up for ten games with the Wichita Thunder (1-5-6, 12 PIM) and 13 games with the Allen Americans (1-2-3, 19 PIM). A seventh-round draft pick (188th overall) by the Edmonton Oilers in 2013, Chase has seen action in a total of 102 AHL games in his career, with the Wolf Pack, Oklahoma City Barons, Bakersfield Condors and Springfield Thunderbirds, tallying seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points and amassing 55 penalty minutes.  In 166 career ECHL contests with the Mariners, Thunder, Americans, and Norfolk Admirals, he has totaled 58 goals and 75 assists for 133 points, as well as 215 PIM.

Elmer skated in one game for the Wolf Pack after being summoned from Maine February 9.  In two games with the Wolf Pack on the season, the rookie out of the Western Hockey League is scoreless with one minor penalty.  In 32 games with Maine Elmer has scored 12 goals and added 11 assists for 23 points, along with 26 penalty minutes and a +4. Prior to turning pro, Chase played five seasons of WHL action with the Calgary Hitmen and Victoria Royals.  In 265 career WHL games, he registered 78 goals and 143 assists for 221 points, along with 247 penalty minutes. Chase is a nephew of former Hartford Whalers forward Kelly Chase.

Chase, 24, a fourth-year pro out of the Western Hockey League, has skated in 57 ECHL games this season with the Mariners, Wichita Thunder, and the Allen Americans, scoring 20 goals and adding 23 assists for 43 points and serving 83 minutes in penalties.  Those numbers are good for first in goals, and second in points and PIM, on the Maine club, for which Chase has played 34 games, notching 18 goals and 16 assists for 34 points, with 52 PIM. A seventh-round draft pick (188th overall) by the Edmonton Oilers in 2013, Chase has logged a total of 97 AHL games in his career, with the Oklahoma City Barons, Bakersfield Condors and Springfield Thunderbirds, tallying seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points and amassing 51 penalty minutes.  In 117 career ECHL contests with the Mariners, Thunder, Americans and Norfolk Admirals, the 6-0, 190-pound Edmonton, Alberta native, has totaled 45 goals and 52 assists for 97 points, as well as 139 PIM. KUHN: ANDREW LORD NAMED HEAD COACH OF THE GREENVILLE SWAMP RABBITS

Lord, 35, joins the organization from the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) in the United Kingdom, where he has spent the last six seasons as head coach of the organization. Lord joins the Swamp Rabbits with an immense championship pedigree. He led the Devils to nine separate titles, including three conference championships, two Challenge Cup championships, two League titles, and two Playoff championships. As the winningest coach in Devils history, he led the team to a 221-75-22 record across his six seasons as head coach. "I know that Greenville is a great city, the facilities are great, and there is huge potential for this organization," Lord said. "I've been looking for the chance to get back to North America and I think this is a heck of an opportunity here. I'm really looking forward to working with players who want to get to the next level and that is a big motivating factor for me in taking this position." Longtime pro added to the offensive attack BY: Jordan Kuhns, Greenville Swamp Rabbits GREENVILLE, S.C. — A longtime professional hockey player has joined the Greenville Swamp Rabbits' offense. Tommy Mele, who has played 274 ECHL games, 51 CHL games, 30 games over in England, and 3 AHL games, has been added to the Rabbits' active roster, effective immediately. Mele, a Kelly Cup champion and Brabham Cup champion with the Alaska Aces and a CHL champion with the Fort Wayne Komets has seen his fair share of hockey action at a professional level since graduating from American International College in 2011. His pro career has seen him play with the Fort Wayne Komets, the Alaska Aces, the Tulsa Oilers, the Oklahoma City Barons, the Norfolk Admirals, the Cincinnati Cyclones, and the Milton Keynes Lightning. In 274 games at the ECHL level, the native of the Bronx has posted 145 points (80 goals, 65 assists), and has taken part in 32 postseason contests, adding 12 more points. Mele, 32, had his best professional season during the 2015–16 season when he split time with the Admirals and the Cyclones, and he posted 52 points in 74 games. Tommy's brother, Steve, is also a professional, currently playing with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
