pre script : GUYS. I AM SO SORRY. I did NOT intend to stretch it out for this long but let's just say that the unfortunate things that happened to me (like steam burning my wrist 👍🏻) was NOT on my bucket list either. Anyways. It's all done now!! Every post is scheduled roughly 15-20 minutes from each other! Enjoy mi amigo!!

Some points to note before you move to the event visualizer : 

🟣 My anchoring style is highly energetic and bubbly so you can imagine me doing a lot of hand gestures, changing pitch and tones of my voice, moving around on the stage a lot, etc. Hehe.  

🟣 The theatre/event venue has been engineered by the best engineers of the world, with the most modern technology. The petals of the lotus can close or open to hide or reveal the night sky. It can also change its colours. For tonight, it's indigo!  

🟣 The "OUTFIT CHECK" were clicked in different places (according to where the member was spotted first) hence the different background. 

🟣 I didn't want to write too dialogues on yall's behalf but I can't really bother you with every small detail, so I hope whatever dialogues I've made up are not too out of character! 

🟣Ignore the contradiction of same blue locker entering the scene multiple times, pretend there are a few copies of each member 🥰👍🏻

🟣 Ignore the outfit mismatch in the edits (any edit after the outfit checks please, our editing skills only go so far 🙏🏻 ) 

🟣 I highly suggest that you listen to songs as you keep finding them being embedded in links for added feels and extra hype! 🔥

🟣 The performances where multiple songs have been used is supposed to be a mashup. You can imagine the mashup to be as you please! The songs I've bunched together are for the sole purpose of creating a particular vibe, so as long as to they are fulfilled it's all good! 😌🤝🏻

Entering Wano: An Ukiyo-e adventure

Our octopus heralding the entry to Wano seems very inspired by Utagawa Kuniyoshi's 流行蛸のあそび (Ryuko tako no asobi, Fashionable Octopus Games) from the early 1840s.

The wild and wavy waters of Wano are, of course, a homage to Katsushika Hokusai's 神奈川沖浪裏 (Kanagawa-oki nami ura, Under the Great Wave off Kanagawa).

Koi (carp) are a popular motif in Japanese art, as exemplified by this leaping koi by Ohara Koson from the early 20th century.

But surely riding the koi is a Luffy thing...oh. No! Turns out there are a lot of ukiyo-e pieces of people riding on or fighting giant koi. This 1845 piece by Utagawa Hiroshige shows Oniwakamaru in a fierce battle with a koi that swallowed his mother.

One of the dangers facing ships trying to enter Wano are lethal maelstroms. Utagawa Hiroshige (same artist as the koi fighting above) created this fantastic woodcut: ���波　鳴門の風波, (Awa, Naruto no fuuha, Awa Province: Naruto Whirlpools). He also painted this great panorama view of the same scenery.

The Sunny has made it through waves and past maelstroms while Luffy played with the koi, and now the last obstacle remains: a giant waterfall. A waterfall that looks a lot like the ~1830 下野黒髪山きりふりの滝 (Kurokami-yama Kirifuri-no-taki, Kirifuri Waterfall at Kurokami Mountain) by Katsushika Hokusai (artist of The Great Wave above).

Good thing koi can climb waterfalls, as pictured here in another piece by Katsushika Hokusai: the ~1834 滝に鯉 (Taki ni koi, Carps in waterfall). And with that, the Strawhats have finally entered Wano!

I’ve been looking through the sus leaks and theory’s for the ak summer event and like none of them involve me winning but I have my own silly out-of the blue idea about what it’s gonna be, so, bear with me

It’s gonna involve Sunvalley Industries

Since the location in Sargon we are heading to is known for Gemstone distribution!

And the notable staff of Sunvalley Industries is this Freak (Who is popular in the ak community for some reason)

Then there’s this person from Pv-4 (which I’ve watched repeatedly) who people are saying looks “Pharaoh-Inspired” (Their words, not mine) (They don’t, In fact they don’t really look related to Sargon at all to me 😭) But I think their attire fits that of a expat!

Also, there’s Peppe! (Namie child from Reclaimation Algorithm 2 electric boogaloo) who is a cat! (With a giant hammer and platforms, Wow!)

And well uh

Well, Yeah, oki! lots of cat motifs!

luffy - sin kiske/may

ok first of all im entirely biased but luffy would fucking LOVE sin, like the bit of him eating to get buffs would DEEPLY entertain luffy (although he'd use it entirely way too much and get blown up for it)

but for both characters, i think he'd be a big fan of doing like one hit and a simple combo and absolutely DESTROYING someone's health bar, which fits for both of these. he wouldn't be very GOOD at the game because he wouldn't be able to sit still and wait for openings or anything of the sort but boy would he be great at corner pressure (until he gets dp'd)

zoro - nagoriyuki

i swear to you im not just giving the sword guy the sword guy (although that's certainly a factor because i bet you that'd influence zoro's character decision) but like. zoro is also the type to want to do one combo that does a ton of damage

i think he'd be moderately better than luffy and defense and neutral though, being able to open people up with pokes (cough cough beyblade cough cough), but he'd CONSTANTLY spend too much blood, although he plays surprisingly well inside of blood rage

nami - asuka r#

nami is the type to want to stand on one side of the screen with her opponent on the other side of the screen and just shoot so many fucking cubes at them honestly. plus i think she'd be really great at keeping track of spells and resources while she plays

however if u can get in on her? it's over, she has negative defense and constantly flails and mashes her way to death, but otherwise she's a pretty solid player. also, im a wizard's whimsy believer regarding nami so. asuka!

usopp - happy chaos/axl low

usopp is ALSO a zoner main but like. to the fucking extreme. hes GOING to guard crush loop you from across the entire screen hes GOING to rensen your ass for a whole round hes GOING to be sent through the fucking wall if you close in on him

sanji - giovanna

ok so i actually think this is a cool decision because like. we see gio use her hands in like...2? 3? of her moves? like its 5p 2p and 6p and thats about it. and its GIVING SANJI!!!!

i do think that sanji would have fun playing a rushdown character but also he'd get so good at playing defense bc he doesnt want to let gio get harmed

chopper - jack-o' valentine

CHOPPER WOULD HAVE A FUCKING BLAST PLAYING JACK-O'!!!!! i dont think hed be good at strive by a long stretch but hed LOVEEEE controlling the goobers and all the silly animations hed be having the time of his life

the ASSUMPTION might be faust but i think chopper finds him too creepy to enjoy playing him regularly

robin - anji

robin is a fucking MASTER in neutral i am convinced of this, specifically that she can just. get her opponent to do what she wants. so easily. and then she uses spin and kills them! as is her right!!!

this one is more vibes than anything but i do think she'd enjoy spin and counter as moves to just fuck with her opponent in a major way, plus anji just being a graceful motherfucker

franky - potemkin/goldlewis dickinson

franky doesnt want to play your silly little game. he doesnt want to hold your mix, he doesnt want to set up oki, he doesnt want to play neutral, he wants to KILL YOU AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE

this isnt how he approaches things in life but i think theres something about strive that would just make him want to do the biggest damage possible with the least amount of hits and he'd want to land every fucking pot buster and behemoth typhoon to ever exist. unfortunately this means he wouldnt entirely be engaging with the strategy side of the game and would frequently be blown up but if he can get one grab on you hes happy.

brook - i-no

look. ok. the music connection is awesome and i think brook would enjoy mixing you into oblivion but. i have never met an i-no player who doesnt play her at least in part because she's hot. and thats absofuckinglutely how brook would choose who he plays LMAO

like its JUST the nature of the world. but in terms of gameplay yeah i think he'd like flitting around the screen with her hoverdash and divekicks and he'd have so much fun with her pressure and mix

jinbe - sol badguy

ok for legal reasons i have to specify that like i have met jinbe and know him im thr series but not super well so take my opinions with a grain of salt. but anyways i think jinbe would have a lot of fun with sol, he feels like the type who wouldnt like play strive much on his own but REALLY get into it when playing with other people, and i need him to experience the euphoria of hitting a clean hit hvv or getting a wallbounce combo

i also think he's another fan of doing a shit ton of damage all at once but i think he's willing to do some comboing and some setups to get there, and i think he's get REALLY fucking good at stagger pressure it would be scary

Shanks: The ancient prophecy of the missing millennia

This is the first time I am posting. I appreciate feed back and I can do separate one-shots with character if you'd like to place a request. This is a ongoing story with many chapters to come. The story is about Shanks getting Captured, tortured and rescued. Shanks has a relationship with Nami and Robin and history during the 2 years they were gone. Stay posted for more :)

Chapter  1: Shank’s battle with The Blackbeard Alliance

Shanks was currently involved in a battle with Blackbeard, Burgess, Flamingo and Kaido all at once barely dodging attacks. “That was close” painfully exclaimed Shanks after barely escaping a direct hit from Blackbeard. He was barely conscious as it was since his crew had all been wiped out by Kaido and Blackbeard. “Well looks like you dodged that hit and is still conscious I see” snickered Flamingo. Shanks glanced up and gasped when he saw Do Flamingo coming in with his string shotgun. 

Oh no, when did he get up there. I was barely able to stop Blackbeard's attack, I don’t think I can dodge this one. I can’t move and my vision is blurry, I didn't even detect him thought Shanks as he attempted to stand and failed falling to his knees. “Looks like this is the end of the road for you red hair” boasted Flamingo as he sent his string 72lb shotgun straight towards the yonko. “Aaaaaahhhhhhhh” screamed Shanks as it hit him dead on. He flew back and smashed into the ground, blood spraying across the air from Flamingo’s attack. 

Shanks vision is extremely blurry and fading into blackness, the last thing he remembers was Blackbeard walking up laughing “Oh the fun has just begun” was the last words he heard before succumbing into darkness. “Wakey Wakey, don’t want you missing out on all the fun now do we” laughed blackbeard as he punched the red haired yonko in the stomach with his blackhole causing Shanks to jolt awake.

 “Aaaaaaahhhhhhh blahhhh” screamed Shanks as he spat up blood. “Oh good, you’re awake just in time for the party” snickered Kaido from the corner of the room. Where am I, what happened? Last thing I remember was Flamingo attacking me and the “huh” it dawned on him. BLACKBEARD!!! Everything came back to him at once. 

“What did you do to my crew?!?!?!” weakly demanded Shanks, earning him a sharp kick to the chest by Bellinger. It was at that moment Shanks realized his cape, sword, shash and shirt were all gone leaving him bare before his torturers. “Oh, your crew??? Don’t worry about them, we left them to die back there!!” laughed Kaido right before he delivered his gorilla punch right to the side of Shank’s heading. “Uggghhh” groaned a semi conscious borderline delirious Shanks. Blood ran down his face and onto the floor as he realized he was suspended in the air and chained down. 

“W-wh-where a-am I??” weakly groaned Shanks, trying to blink the blurriness out of his eyes. His head was throbbing from the gorilla punch by Kaido. “You are at the new location of the smile factory. PUNK HAZARD!!!” maliciously laughed Flamingo. “Don’t worry, no one followed us so we have all the time in the world to spend time together” laughed Burgess landing  a 1 ton gravity kick masked in armament Haki and lightning to the yonko’s gut. Shank’s head flew back and a blood curdling scream came from the young redhead “Aaaahhhhhhh Aaaahhhhh” screamed Shanks as his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he splattered up blood.

“I think he wants more. Bellinger hit him with your double bull horn head butt” said none other than his stepmother, the one who tried to kill him when he was a boy. “Y-Y-You B-Ba-bastard” wheezed Shanks. “OKIE-DOKIE!!” exclaimed Bellinger, hitting shanks and piercing his chest with his horns. “Aaaaaauuugggggggghhhhhhh” was all that came out before Shanks succumbed to the darkness taking over from the pain he was in. “Oh no, we're not done yet” was the last thing he heard from Flamingo before passing out watching a string pistol shot heading towards him.

When our friends told us that there's a town where rice farmers create art with their rice paddy fields, I knew I had to see it for myself.

A few weeks ago we ventured an hour and a half away to a town called Inakadate to see the creativity on display. You might be wondering what is so significant about this. And it's simple: decades of art in the making.

According to the information flyer we were given, rice paddy art is seen as a canvas "by planting a variety of different rice plants." There are more than 10 varieties and 7 colors of rice which include orange, red, white, green, dark green, yellow, and purple. The process from start to finish not only takes strategic planning, but it's all done by hand!

Before planting the rice in early June, farmers start with a rough sketch of their design by using surveying techniques and perspective drawing. Even though the history of the village's rice fields goes back over 2,000 years ago, in an effort to promote "historical roots in rice farming," Inakadate, a village only comprising of 7,500 people, started creating rice paddy art in the early 1990s.

As you can see above, there are photos of the rice paddy art in years past displayed at the town cultural center. They are so intricate and detailed! I particularly thought the Star Wars and Roman Holiday ones were impressive.

The town of Inakadate takes great pride in not only their rice paddy fields and its art, but the generational element involved to create it. It is said that multiple generations will work in the fields to ensure beautiful images by mid July, when the art exhibits are open to the public. The rice fields in Inakadate get over 200,000 visitors annually.

Fun fact: each town/village has their own mascot and I'm sure you can guess Inakadate's. (If you guessed the rice paddy, you are right. Isn't it cute?)

The first location at the Inakadate Village Cultural Center shows the newest 1000 yen designs comprising of the Kanagawa-oki Nami Ura (The Great Wave off Kanagawa) and Kitasato Shibasaburo.

The historical significance of the two images is to honor the woodblock print by Japanese artist Hokusai who created this image in 1831. The person on the right side of the field is the portrait of Japanese physician and bacteriologist, Kitasato Shibasaburo.

In the second location, we only traveled about 5 minutes to an observation tower overlooking an image of a famous manga set in the Tsugaru region called Jisan Basan Wakagaeru.

"This manga tells the story of an old apple farmer couple who eat a mysterious golden apple and become rejuvenated. In the center of the rice paddy art, you can see [the] couple holding a golden apple. [It's] the same composition as the opening of the anime." (According to the informational flyer).

Alongside the impressive rice paddy art were other forms of art known as "pebble art."

This year's pebble art image is of the late graphic artist, Shiko Munakata.

Apparently, this amazing artist lived in the city of Aomori at one point, which is why he is so revered by the community as Aomori is only 45 minutes away from them. I looked up some of his work and it's actually displayed in Aomori's Museum of Art. I think I am going to add it to my list of places to explore...

Japan is rich with ancient art and individuals that take pride in the work that they do for others. It's such a humble culture. Doing for others to display history that not only draws people in, but pulls them together. It's beautiful to get to witness it.

Japan has such a deep respect for one another and the space they occupy. Everything is intentional and thought out. It's refreshing.

This life we are living has the capacity to either keep us holed up or push us out. I'm so glad we have decided to get out and see what there is to see. I am proud of us for not allowing fear to hold us back even when we know that in most spaces we take up, we are the minority with broken Japanese and louder-than-ideal American kids. I love getting to display these acts of bravery to our children, though. I don't even think they realize how brave they are being themselves.

If there's one thing I have learned, it's this: you need to expand yourself outside of your comfort zone. That is where horizons are broadened, paradigms are shifted, and empathy is born. When we can reach outside of ourselves and step reverently into the space of another we are only doing one another a service. Even as we walk with shaking feet and trembling hands, I've learned it is best to simply lean into the discomfort.

For it is on the other side of discomfort and fear that we find we are braver than we think.

The impact of Hokusai's work

The work is composed of three triangles which are represented by the waves and Mount Fuji that is represented further back, in addition the engraving enhances the landscape through the drawing of three small boats that are seen among the waves. The image seems to be a tragedy.

Since 1860, Hokusai's works began to arrive in Europe and they served as inspiration for the impressionists of the time, this because the colors used within the work are complementary (blue and yellow), in addition to the technique of improvement by means of repetition was later repeated even by Claude Monet.

Later on, Japonism arose, which was a style named after how influential Eastern culture, specifically Japanese, became in the representations of various European artists, such as the work "Courtesy: after Eisen" by Vincent Van Gohg, in which a woman dressed in a kimono with a fan is portrayed and in a style very similar to that of Ukiyo-e engravings (the technique in which most of Hokusai's work was embodied)

The author of the work "Kanagawa oki nami ura" or "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" was one of the most influential men in art at the time. He managed to represent his country within the Western world and make it a fascination. In addition, his bohemian life marked a paradigm among the artists of the time, thus generating an artist profile.
