fun things about the IS6 trailer for "Jie Garden"

near the tail end of yesterday's 6th anniversary stream arknights dropped an IS6 promo trailer in the form of a retro promo ad for some place called the "jie garden" that turns out to be analog horror. it's pretty cool

there's a number of funky (creepy) things that happen that are easy to miss - and i missed a bunch myself, so I decided to watch it again now and write down all the things i spotted/the bilibili comments pointed out

(first things first: the 'jie' in 'jie garden' isn't the same 'jie' as the dead sui sibling, but it's definitely punning on it. there is literally no way they're not referencing her.)

the video subtitle: "A thousand years ago a tianshi sought to live in seclusion, and therefore built this garden as a place to retreat from society."

however, the audio says 'coffin chamber' (mu4shi4 - 墓室) instead of retreat from society (bi4shi4 - 避世)

the sign in the pond is probably supposed to be something like "this pond is dangerous, please keep away" but with the censored text it reads "pond please come close" :)

"About three hundred years ago, after consultation with the tianshi's descendants, a section of Jie Garden was opened to the public, and over time, it has become a good place for the residents of Baizao to visit on their days off."

after the text gets censored, the last section becomes, simply: "a place for the residents of Baizao."

white (bunny?) silhouette appears here after a flash of white. hello!

this text - "do not touch" is mirrored. in other words, it's you, the viewer, behind the glass!

the chinese comments here remark on how the tickets to the garden (pictured) look awfully like the kind of paper money you burn as offerings to the dead

(also, when they read out that phone number, the text briefly changes to 80808-88808. no idea what this is supposed to imply though)

the video then changes to talking about 8 "do not do this" warnings that guests to the garden should avoid

spot the difference! on the sign on the bottom right, the text changes from "Deep water, keep a safe distance" to "Water, keep a safe distance" as a character vanishes

by "do not" number 3, the news byron on the bottom now just says "Today's weather " without talking about the weather at all (at the beginning of the video, it said "Today's weather: cloudy") people of baizao, you good?

6: "do not make a racket". screen goes black, and then it comes back weird

7: "don't damage the articles" (articles as in items/objects etc. - 器物) . except the character 器 is briefly replaced by 祭 before disappearing:

note that 祭物 means sacrifices. rip to this guy and his now mysteriously blacked out face

8: "do not trespass into restricted areas". only, some freak shit starts happening with the video - there's a quick blink-and-you-miss-it frame of a cemetery:

and, among other things, "do not trespass into restricted areas" transforms into " want town":

and then rapidly becomes "sui area":

love whatever's going on in the background here.

then a bunch of "sui" characters appears on screen:

and finally. jie. as in jie's name. it's her.

jie garden is jie's grave.

Adding to my old post about the dynamics between Theresa/Theresis & Arturia/Federico mirroring each other, today's trailer was insane, with the two fighting as a team in a way resembling the Sarkaz twins boss fight in IS5: Executor actively on the hunt as the most active of the two, Arturia in the back influencing the battlefield with her arts with no one even managing to touch her. It's so good, especially since Theresa & Theresis are in perfect sync & have a pretty solemn vibe while the Sankta are quite chaotic with Fede pointing the gun at her for a moment (force of habit?) before adjusting his aim and them not actively helping each other but each doing their own thing - which makes sense, apart from their personalities being different and all, the IS5 version of the Sarkaz Kings is the one where they managed to support each other until the end.

He's so cool. He really is the fighting game exclusive character. This is the alt costume they release before buffing him and making him into a monster for like four-six months before nerfing him into the dirt for the rest of the games lifetime. Making him a joke among players, while old fans will just keep saying a new balance patch will come anyday now and restore him to his former glory. It never does, but diehard fans(me) will still keep playing him anyway.

Ahem, anyway, getting crownslayer and more suzu lore was on my sircasano wishlist, so yippie, only thing missing is more red, but she'll probably show up anyway.

What the fuck, huh? Watching Sciel stream chap 15 and this shit bonkers yall.

Of course i got no translation, but i can list some notable elements and speculate from there.

1. Priestess is back, maybe she 3d printed herself from the originium?

1.1 She has a cautus kid. LMAOOOO

2. Misery is fighting Ascalon for some reason?

3. The Veil/fake sky gets shattered

4. Kal gets Thanos dusted????

5. The game mechanic for this chapter is PRTS messing with the map and deploying some enemies and traps which is freaky, ALSO ORACLE'S SPECTER STOPS YOUR DP generation???

5.1 Also drones that lock you out of operator deployments! As in they get a big red diamond timer on them and you have to wait before you can deploy them. Seems to favor the biggest dp cost first.

6. There's a cg where kal and Mont3r is doing that anime forehead to forehead thing bruh Mentor-student?? Mom-daughter?? Sisters-in-arms?? Platonic partners?? Yuri?? Just what is their deal!?

7. The Laterano LAW gets screentime, Also witch king, Also maybe the seaborne?? The three terraforming tools that Oracle and Priestess used way back when?

8. Endfield and Ex Astris connection??? Wtf

10. THE SHIP IS FUCKING GONE??? WHERE ARE WE GOING TO STAY??

9. The boss fight looks so damn hectic i think some of yall softies (affectionate) might actually have a panic attack from this cuz we have this huge giant drone thing that locks you out of deploying 4 operators at a time and PRTS is deploying some enemies and traps and the boss is this giant floating mess of monitors and electronics its so cool.

9.1 Also the boss theme is FUCKING BREAKCORE WOOOOO

11. Kal might actually be fuckin death cuz it seems like Mont3r rose from her ashes

Maaan the status quo seems to genuinely be shaken up. One of the founding members, gone. The damn ship, gone. Hell maybe we don't have the PRTS system in-universe anymore idk!!

This does makes me pretty excited over where we are going because this looks like we're actually about to tackle the originium problem instead of playing knights with seige and co.
