We had the same shit from Con Ed, the NYC area Electricity provider. Same form letter and all. They gave us three weeks to come up with$2000!or cut us off. So I take it you are in New York?We went around the house pulling anything that was worth a dime. We found belongings that mostly came from the in laws, an old uncle or two. We did come up with the money, and felt like sleeping for a week afterwards. It’s both humiliating and stressful. We were both really mad, and contacted our congressman, Jamaal Bowman, about it. His office directed us to two government programs that help pay energy costs, HEAP ( Home energy Assistance Program)and LI HEAP. So they we can get help. There’s also an app allied ‘ohmconnect’ (or something like that.that helps you lower rates. I haven’t tried it yet.
