I was scrolling on Twitter and got a pop-up notification about a new follower. I instantly recognized the name cause he's a current OHLer. But he must have accidentally clicked follow, cause he unfollowed within seconds.
And that's my story of being followed by an OHL player for a few seconds 😅

As promised all the antisemitic tropes associated with the Greens in House of the Dragon because I guess when you double down on the divinely ordained Aryan as heroes you need Jewish coded villains. Please note that I am not accusing anyone including Condal or other producers of secretly sympathizing with Nazis or antisemitism if for no other reason that I suspect they are simply too ill informed to realize what their playing with. (for a better understanding about the metaphysical role Jews played in Nazism see Alon Confino's A World Without Jews: The Nazi Imagination from Persecution to Genocide)
Let's start with casting:
And Alicent is the embodiement of the Beautiful Jewess- curly dark reddish hair, and big beautiful eyes ( It's over a year since I read Höss's complaining about how his officers were susceptible to Jewish women and their "beautiful eyes" and I am still not over it.)
Moving on-
1) Alicent and by extension the Greens are portrayed as religious. This religion is implied or certainly interpreted by fans to be oppressive towards the Targaryens (Valeryians) notably by setting rules and thus bringing them to the level of mortals. Hitler considered Christianity to be a Jewish invention that was a “scar” on the German race by imposing a conscience.
2) The Hightowers and the Citadel/maesters are implied in the fandom to be running a conspiracy to bring down the Targaryens. Some fans have them poisoning Viserys and/or responsible for all the Targaryen stillbirths, and dismal maternal and infant mortality rates. The Protocols of Zion are an old debunked many times conspiracy theory about how Jews secretly work to run the world. Jewish doctors were accused of damaging Aryan women. The Doctor’s Plot is actually Soviet where Jewish doctors were accused of poisoning Stalin.
3) Heleana who coincidentally fits the Targaryen aesthetic is considered the only redeemable one so long as she supports Rhaenyra (and marries Jace- who according to Rhaenyra and therefore the show/fans is a Targaryen- and raises her children to be loyal to the true Targs). Nazis would sometimes accept a half Jewish woman if she was married to a full German and had his children whom she raised with no connection to her family/faith (sometime a man but a woman was more likely since they were seen as more passive and therefore less of a threat to the all sacred race)
4) the Greens are portrayed as both overly sexual and sexually repressed. The Nazis were obsessed with sex and variously accused Jews of being sexual predators or of being unnaturally restrained which tied in with (1).
5) Aegon is an alcoholic and Aemond is implied to have an opioid addiction. Jews were associated with drugs especially morphine (for a summary of the Nazis relationship with drugs see Norman Ohler’s Blitzed: Drugs in the Third Reich)
5) The men on the Greens are either dangerous predators or emasculated "simps" or "mama's boys". Jewish men were variously dangerous predators or unmanly men who were dominated by their women.
6) Alicent is either sexually repressed or a slut who sexually entices good Valyrian men to their doom. (1) and (4)
7) Alicent is an overbearing mother. She occasionally seems to overstep her designated feminine boundaries to assert her opinions over men's.
8) the Greens are either too close knit or they betray each other. Höss described Jews as both extremely attached to their families to the point where news of their death had a fatal effect and as eager to betray their families even at no benefit to themselves.
9) Alicent schemes to betray the righteous Valyrian princess and supplant her with her own sons. She is considered redeemable only when she serves Rhaenyra and places her on a pedestal even at the expense of her and her children's well being. This is the basis of many Jewish female characters in literature
10) Alicent's children are never considered to be real Targaryens. In F&B Aegon and Helaena are described as plumper and less striking than most Targaryens, Jaehaerys has extra fingers/ toes and Jaehaera as neurodivergent. Jaehaera dies and is replaced by the perfect Valyrian girl.
I'm open for asks and DMs. For context my MA was set in Nazi Germany and I took several courses on the subject.

Re: Pervertin or how German Supersoldiers High on Crack travelled through Space and Time Buy my Book
I came across a post on the bird site yesterday calling into attention the use of pervitin, more or less adderall, among German troops during WW2. For context pervitin tablets were indeed issued to a lot of military personnel back in those days, specifically to aircraft pilot and sometimes tank crews on long missions. The drug as some of you may have heard keeps you awake and alert, along with a slew of side effects and a non negligible chance of addiction. In a discussion that brought to view just how willing people are to buy into Nazi propaganda in the year of our f*cking lord 2023, I pointed out a few things, uphill and having to indulge a lot of sidetracking. The use of pervitin has always been a little overstated ever since it came to the internet's attention, and I certainly would never call it a key component of the Blitzkrieg when, in the theaters of war where actual Blitzkrieg was employed, its success was more due to a combination of innovative doctrines, intact fuel supplies and a big fat helping of dumb luck. It was a bold move highly relying on capturing enemy fuel depots with fast, surprise deep strikes supported by a lot of armored and air forces, and it was only sustainable in neighboring, industrialized countries. One can argue if the USSR was industrialized at the time, but it stopped mattering when the Russians removed their entire industry from the West to beyond the Ural mountains. The Blitz stalled there.
"But if it didn't work, then why did the Nazis do it so often ?" Well the answer to that is twofold. The first, longer answer is that Nazis were a bunch of f*cking morons. Maybe not one by one, but as a government in charge of military procurement, they were one bunch of goofy motherf*ckers. Gaggle of functional shit-for-brains really. The Nazis gave every one of their tanks in the middle of the war two coats of anti-magnetic paint, which took almost a full day to cure, despite being the only major nation to use magnetic antitank mines. The Nazis kept using slave labor drawn from their prisoners of war, including in the manufacturing of their overengineered armored vehicles, resulting in poor quality products or, you know, a few rivets in your magnificent Tiger tank being replaced by a cigarette butt. The Nazis spent more than half the cost of a strategic bomber on every V2 rocket, not including design costs, for less than half the payload. It ended up killing more Germans and slave workers than British people in London, for literally no strategic or tactical result with 0.4 person killed per every rocket. The second, shorter answer is that pervitin was not used that much. A lot of the arguments trying to boost its importance come from a single book, "Blitzed" by Norman Ohler, now available in twenty languages apparently, where grand claims are made by a historian who was probably more than a little tired of seeing Buzzfeed rack in the big bucks instead of him.
End note; I was called out by a bird siter after the conversation that inspired this post for even beginning to fact-check this, which they considered, and I quote, "fangirling over nazi stats". I cannot stress this enough, learning the 'bad' parts of history does not make you bad person, it is how you interact with the resulting knowledge. Unlike what they implied, I had to look for those supporting evidence. I had a hunch that such a grabbing headline about super-drugs would be fake, I knew offhand that V2 rockets killed more blues than reds, but when I had to research all that jazz about Nazis and their superweapons it was to dunk on them, not make another History Channel documentary about a time-travelling bell. Stay critical, fascists can eat shit.

GRA - Cut Content in BG3 (Part 1)
I'm so sorry I keep getting distracted by new finds. The flag files for BG3 in particular are a massive rabbit hole. You search for something completly unrelated and you end up unearthing something that hasn't been seen since Early Access datamining. "But Ríobhca," I hear you ask, "what on earth is GRA, and why are you so exicted about it?" GRA is a cut area within BG3, which I think stands for GRAveyard.(It also means "love" in Irish, but that's besides the point!) This area was where you'd originally meet Cazador from what the flags state, and the rest of his coven/spawn/thralls.
This sounded familar - and turns out one of the all time greats of EA BG3 datamining, Harbs Narbs, had done a video all the way back in 2021 covering the dialogue for this area. These dialogues aren't in the final game, and are a remnant of a much older plot, one where The Butcher was a Chosen of the Absolute instead of Orin, and where you could ally with Cazador for aid against them. Of course, you could side with The Butcher against Cazador. Or kill them both, whatever floats your boat ;) This post will cover only the flags - if you want the dialogue, I'd suggest looking at Harbs' video linked above! Also another important note to make - I don't know if anything else related to GRA is still in the game. I don't think this can be restored by modders, and plus this is a much older version of the plot, which wouldn't flow well with the plot we have today.
Where was GRA?
GRA, as speculated by Harbs Narbs, could have been Cliffside Cemetary , located in the Outer City. This makes sense to me for two reasons: 1.) the Szarr family mansion used to be there, until it was burnt down by business rivals. The Szarr family's ghosts are still said to haunt there, and the Szarr family crypt is located there also...
2.) several of the flags state an encounter with CliffThralls. Makes sense for Cliffside Cemetary, right?
For clarity's sake, since we don't know the exact location of GRA (might be another graveyard or cliffs around Baldur's Gate?), I'll keep referring to it as GRA for now, until I have solid evidence that Cliffside was where it was set.
What would you do in GRA?
From what I've gathered from both the flag files and Harbs' video, you would first have an encounter with the thralls outside of Cazador's crypt. I believe you would have been directed there by The Butcher to find out the fate of his apprentice:
...which would then lead you to GRA. You would then meet with the aformentioned Cliff Thralls:
At first, the player wouldn't know that they were vampire thralls/spawn (they sound more like spawn to me, looking at the definition of thralls vs. spawn, but someone who is a lot more familiar than DND vampires can feel free to correct me!), but could make a check OR notice that they all had bite marks on their necks. You could even ask them about the bite marks! The player would then come to the conclusion that they were indeed thralls. You had a few options when dealing with the thralls. You could ask them about who their master was (Cazador), or about the fates of a grave robber (dead by their hands) or The Butcher's apprentice, Ohler, which they would then pass on to Cazador.
You could also lie to them (from what Harb's video said, something about skeletons roaming around?), but they presumably wouldn't be happy:
The player could also pass a Medicine Check on the thralls to notice that they had anemia, which, from a quick Google search on WebMD tells me is a problem with not having enough red blood cells to carry oxygen around the body. In other words, if they're indeed spawn, they're malnorished/starved by Cazador, since not being supplied blood = no red blood cells, on top of them being undead. Or I think so, since "anemia in vampires" was not a helpful search.
The player had several means of getting past the Cliff Thralls. They could get the information they needed, how to get to Cazador, peacefully, or they could fight them to get past them. Or, if the player was tapping into their inner Dark Urge, tell the thralls to throw themselves off the cliff.
Cazador would know that you killed one of his thralls/spawn if you took this more violent path however...
This is where it gets less clear from reading the flags and what dialogue was supplied from Harbs' video - it looks like you would have went deeper into the Szarr family crypt? Which I will cover in part 2, because this post is huge as is :D Thanks for reading this, and feel free to read part 2! If you can, I'd like to ask a request - if you have the dialogue files from what Harbs provided in his video, or know the location of them, please send them my way! I don't have any EA builds on this computer, and it would be nice having the two flags and dialogues in one place :D Have a lovely day, wherever you are! <3

The City of Nanaimo has been ordered to pay more than $600,000 to its former chief financial officer after he won a human rights complaint over his firing five years ago. Victor Mema worked as the city's CFO from 2015 to 2018 until he was suspended and then fired over a report of serious misconduct filed by a city staff member, according to the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal decision issued earlier this month. Mema, who is Black, alleged the city on Vancouver Island breached the Human Rights Code by discriminating against him on the basis of his ancestry, place of origin, race and colour. Tribunal chair Emily Ohler found the city's decision to suspend and terminate Mema "were discriminatory."

I was tagged by @pricegouge to do these book questions!! (Thank you for the tag ml it made my brain light up like a Christmas tree!!)
1) last book I read -
The Urge by Carl Erik Fischer. Absolutely fantastic read on the history of addiction (mainly western focused)
2) a book I recommend -
THE THREE BODY PROBLEM BY LIU CIXIN OH MY G-D SOMEONE COME NERD OUT ABOUT THIS BOOK WITH ME IT IS SO GOOD UGHHHHHH
3) a book I couldn't put down -
Still Missing by Chevy Stevens. I devoured that book in a single day. (Read trigger warnings for this one if you seek it out!!)
4) a book Ive read twice or more -
Eragon!!! I used to love love love reading this book over and over. I got really into reading it while listening to the audiobook to the point where when I read it now without the audiobook. I can still hear the voice actor. (Controversial take to anyone who has listened to the audiobook: I LIKE the way Gerard Doyle voiced Saphira. YEAH I SAID IT!!)
5) a book on my tbr -
Blitzed by Norman Ohler, going over drugs used by N/zis during the Third Reich. It came highly recommended to me recently and a friend bought me my own copy :)
6) a book I've put down -
In Sunlight and In Shadow by Mark Helprin. I haven't touched it in years but I have no intention of getting rid of it now. I made it barely a chapter in before giving up.
7) a favorite book from childhood -
Absolutely has to be The Secret Garden. I used to have really vibrant dreams about this book. All the time.
8) a book I would give to a friend -
Absolutely would give someone my copy of Le Portrait De Petite Cossette (Someone please. It is a two volume manga that's a gory gothic romance about nihilism and has beautiful art READ IT SO I CAN TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT IT)
9) a fiction book I own -
Bloodthirsty by Flynn Meaney. Anything I think I know about American public school comes from 1. my siblings and 2. this book. Kid pretends to be a vampire to get girls. I read this at a very formative age, changed me entirely. Fun YA read.
10) a non fiction book I own -
Hero of Two Worlds by Mike Duncan. Goes over Lafayette's life in both France and America. It is funny that America counts him as a founding father but in life he was kind of a loser in France. I listened to Mike Duncan's Revolutions podcast to get through some tough times, he does some really interesting work!!
11) what I am currently reading -
Dune. I wish I was joking. I watched the two movies, couldn't get it out of my head, my dad has an old copy and let me borrow it. I am very slowly working through it.
12) what I am planning on reading next -
From Here to Eternity by Caitlin Doughty. I watch that lady on youtube a ton and I have been excited to read her writing, especially since it is so suddenly relevant to my life.
13) my shelfie -
My bookshelf is currently still disassembled and half of my books are across the world at my mom's house still (I don't have the heart to put it up right now soooooo)
I tag: @391780 @auspicioustidings @glossysoap aaaand anyone else who wants to do these questions !!
