You were the first person I thought of after Arcane season 2 act 2, what did you think??

I haven't actually seen it yet (waiting for the full season to be out and then will watch with my partner over the Dec-New Year period). But I'm also not even trying to avoid spoilers.

From what I've seen I think my position on the season generally is that I think the choice to stick to their position it was only going to be 2 season was a mistake and someone should have realised this early on and they instead made it 3.

Under the cut is my thoughts on what I've seen that I think you're actually asking me about

I'm really torn about Silco and Vander being close to Vi and Powder's mum.

I did always assume they were at least aware of the girls existence prior to the Bridge Event because the girls parents were part of the Rebellion group and generally I think Vander and Silco the types to know a lot of people in Zaun as community leaders.

However Season One really seemed to imply that Silco especially barely knew the girls prior to the events of Act One. And I do think it kind of cheapens Vander taking them in slightly by him being their kind of godfather instead of him being almost a stranger to them and doing it to try and make up for being responsible for orphaning them.

I think it's the kind of thing where if it was a fanfic/fandom then I would be in full support (and will probably end up playing with a bit). But as the canon position I'm a bit more unsure and feel like it introduces plot-logic-inconsiscies.

But my feelings may change after I actually watch it in the shows context.

You met him at the academy, you two were in the same class and bonded over you both being from Zaun. He was intrigued by your love of botany and your innovative ideas of machinery that would benefit the wildlife in this world. He came to you for advice or maybe just a way to escape the troubles he faced in your greenhouse that Heimerdinger had assigned to you.

Viktor had learned about your secrets and had accepted them without hesitation, a look you later recognise as loving always assured your aching heart.

You welcomed him into your home and later your bed, where he loved you heartily. Viktor worshiped every inch of your body like a holy temple, your moans of pleasure being the teachings of his religion. He put your body on a pedestal and ushered away thoughts of self doubt and gender dysphoria. He was in your bed til morning and left you with a gentlemanly goodbye, promising to see you later that day in class.

One day you had heard the ruckus that came from Viktor and Jayces’ joint lab and later the news of Viktor's assistant dying. You didn't get much details after that but no more information was released.

You were worried sick from Jayce giving you half assed excuses that didn't answer any of your inquiries, you couldn't take it anymore, it was eating away at you to not know what had happened to your secret lover.

Heavy doors burst open and you come rushing in with a mission to see the inside that Jayce and Mel had locked away from all's eyes. You see something, it was obscure and ominous to say the least. It was a bright glowing box made just to fit a person, and what you see on one of the surfaces brings a sob to your throat. “Oh Viktor” you cry looking at his comatose face. You try touching the unknown substance that holds him but it shocks you.

A heavy hand plops on your shoulder and it's owner says, “We've already told you that you had no business in here.” You look back at that self dubbed asshole with tears running down your cheeks. “What's happening to him?”

“I don't know and if I did, I wouldn't tell you.” Jayce says rather rudely.

“Why not?”

“Because you have nothing to do with the situation.” Jayce shoved you out the door and told a security guard to escort you back to your quarters.

You cried all night, worried about if Viktor was even alive.

It had been weeks and months before Viktor appeared in front of you again, changed. He called your name in barely a whisper. His hands reached for your cheeks and wiped away a tear you didn't know you had shed. “It's alright, I'm back Starlight…” you wrapped your arms around the man, noticing how he gotten even slimmer and that his skin was purple and surging with an energy. He noticed your concerned looks and simply said he would explain later.

He let you cry, he listened when you said how hard the past few months had been without him in your life. He whispered reassurance and words of affection in your ears.

You fell asleep in the arms of Viktor after you had shed the last of your worry to his ears.

In the morning, he was gone, and you know you'll probably never see him again.

Arcane season 2 act 2 spoilers

1. Oh my god. Viktor keeps getting prettier and prettier and prettier what the FUCK.

2. I see people being way too quick to jump to conclusions about jayce. He was obviously in so much distress and we have very little info on what happened to him and what he's seen and why he did what he did. We must wait to learn more. I'm not even upset at what happened, just intrigued.

3. I would live in Viktor's commune, mind control and everything idc. Sign me up.

Viktor was always going to become Robo-Jesus, that's always been his thing in the game, so the writers' hands were kinda tied on that one. Tbh I don't expect to be 100% happy with the end of Viktor's storyline, because I'm not 100% happy with how he's treated by the game's lore, and I expect the writers to pay attention to the lore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So I'm trying to keep an open mind on this front.

Season 2 feels like there's twenty different plates spinning at the same time? Season 1 had three plates, so to speak: Vi and Cait, Jinx and Silco, and Viktor and Jayce. Their plotlines wove in and out of each other, with a few relatively minor subplots (the Firelights, Mel's family issues). Pretty straightforward, with everything getting enough time to be properly developed.

But in Season 2, it feels like new plotlines are constantly being introduced, and are often discarded for new plotlines. Caitlyn and Vi are leading a squad into Zaun to pursue Jinx--nope, they part ways after Act 1, now it's all about Cait leading a police state. Mel is investigating and intriguing against her mom OH WAIT she got disappeared by the Black Rose. Ekko investigates his tree's sickness, time to talk about wild runes! Jinx builds her own family, Viktor starts a machine cult, Vance is alive and needs help, Jayce escapes Drug Trip Hell and has gone absolutely craaaaaaaaazy! The chembarons are all fighting each other after Silco's death but then that's not a plot point after the second episode??

It's still a very, very good show, full of excellent writing and characterization. But few of the plotlines get enough time to simmer and develop. What happened to Sevika and the Stillwater survivors? How are the Firelights and the refugees they took in doing after Ekko's disappearance? Why don't we see Ambessa mourning and/or raging about Mel's disappearance? Are the chembarons still around? Is anyone still trying to produce Shimmer? Vi runs into Cait and suddenly they're on the same side again, is it really that simple?

Well, we still have an Act to go, so we'll see.

Speaking of the Arcane and environmentalism: Ekko and his tree. EKKO AND HIS TREE. Ekko discovering the tree his community depends upon is dying because Piltovans are sending their magical waste down the same infrastructure that feeds Vaunites air and water. Ekko calling Jayce out to his face for being a polluting piece of shit. WHERE IS EKKO I NEED HIM TO COME BACK AND CANCEL ALL OF PILTOVER
