Oghhh Ive been translating SO many of my oc names this is so so fun
One of my characters name actually ended up the same as Leafpool’s would likely be, russslof. My gal’s name is actually Mintspring, but spring as in the kind of water source, not jumping, so pond felt more fitting. I was less sure about her prefix—I figured hahrr for catmint would be a bit of an unusual name? So leaf felt like a more sensible choice.
My other favoritest fella would be Sipkawu, later Sipshai! I’m not sure kawu, for fuzzy, is a perfect fit—his warrior name is Brindletuft, after the distinctive fur texture that he and his mom share, that tends to stick up kind of ridiculously. It was either that or bach, but his fur is more soft and messy than spiky or coarse.
MINT! Mint is one of those things that is very interesting in Clanmew, and totally unrelated to catmint both linguistically and cladistically. Mint is completely harmless to humans and one of our favorite flavorings, but it's a very potent poison to cats!
There are three kinds of mint for you to choose from, if you'd like Mintspring's name to change!
WATERMINT (Mentha aquatica) = Mwash
Grows near water, very fragrant with large flowers. Abundant but difficult to cultivate, this is the species Clan cats collect (along with lavender) for parasite treatments when there's no salt. Be very very careful with how poisonous it is, though.
SPEARMINT (Mentha spicata) = Mwel
Hardier and grows in more areas, but has less flowers. This thing cannot stop spreading, it will take over an entire area if there's nothing around to beat it back. Can also be used as a repellant, but water and pepper are more useful.
PEPPERMINT (Hybrid between spearmint and watermint) = Mwelash
Definitely the most fragrant, displaying hybrid vigor between its parent species. If Clan cats were ever cultivating mint for use in gardens and as insect repellent, it would be peppermint.
#Also I wrote out a whole guide on fruits and then tumblr deleted it ;_;#Apparently there's a glitch where if you hit Control Z it just picks a random point to delete everything back to#This happened to me with the thunderclan diagnosis too#VERY disheartening#BUT ANYWAY#I'm planning an expansion on body parts at some point#And including a part on parts of hair#And possible mane types#Official Anime Hair Expansion lmao#Clanmew

*These mods were edited by myself, either for my own personal preferences or to fix some errors that I noticed, under the readmore because it got very long!
For the Seasonal Japanese Buildings Mod, I noticed that it wasn’t updated for the newer buildings, such as the Bigger Shed and the Desert Obelisk. However, I did notice that there was an alternate building for the regular shed, so I wrote in the code and deleted some so that that specific sprite will replace the bigger shed. I also noticed that there was an alternate Junimo Hut and the sprite seemed to fit within the canvas size for the obelisks so I just made my own sheets and edited that into the code itself. There is also a craftables png in this mod. It’s not updated for 1.4 so some items are missing and will show up as completely blank in game, so I unpacked the xnb after digging through the game files and added those items in. I also took the liberty of adding certain modded retextures into this same craftables png, and also recoloring certain items myself to my own liking. Some notable ones are the scarecrows (for the catcrows and the garden pots). I also noticed that the colored chest sprites were slightly off one pixel so I just moved that myself.
The DIY mods are very useful if you are either pretty savvy with an image editing program and either want to change the sprites yourself or mix and match from other mods. With the two that I have, I was able to edit the farmhouse tiles, furniture, walls/flooring, craftables, fences, flooring, fruit trees, grass, etc etc- basically there’s a lot you can do yourself! Really one of the most useful retexture mods I’ve seen out there. Also, recently, they’ve been updated for 1.4! It wasn’t updated when I started modding things myself so I ended up updating my own stuff at the time, but now you don’t have to.
As for some of the textures I used…. I don’t really remember every single one since I mix and matched so many and I also recolored a large majority of them so it’s hard for me to find them again… I know I used some of Hojicha’s walls and floors, Yellog’s furniture, Eemie’s furniture, and Campanulamis’s fireplaces as bases. I also listed the round fruit trees mod, but I can no longer find the actual mod online. This is just a spritesheet that I’ve used in the past few years and kept. I also edited the LooseSprites/Cursors2 so that the fridge opening animation matches the recolored fridge I use!
For the farmer related mods, I didn’t actually use the assets provided by Coii for the shirts. I just unpacked the xnb to grab the new 1.4 shirt spritesheet and used that to replace three shirts that I made myself for me and my friends. I basically just wanted the coding LMAO. For the hair, I did quite a bit of editing to make certain hair match my friend’s ocs (though for Shohei, I didn’t have to edit anything- it’s a pure Coii hair).
We Cute
For Starblue Valley, it hasn’t been officially maintained for a really long time, not even for 1.13 though there’s been an unofficial update for that if you go look. As for 1.14, it’s still useable except for the new stuff the desert, and for some reason, some odd spots here and there in the game? Specifically, I had to edit the bushes png because it had Caroline’s new tea sapling. I’m unfortunately too attached to how this mod looks so I suffer through the weird texture errors.
And FINALLY, I found a baby replacer mod somewhere on nexus, changed up the code just a little bit, and completely changed the spritesheets for my own liking for me and my friends.
Look at this baby. She’s canonically Cad’s and Cherish’s adopted child but she lives in the main house because we all sleep there. And her name is Socks.
Some final final things, we tried to use custom furniture and add more things, specifically Spotteddotted’s kids furniture and Who’s furniture, but my friend kept crashing every time she entered buildings that had the custom furniture so we had to take it out. I will eventually go into the DIYCP and edit in the ones we like the most, though if we could figure out what causes the crash, that would be ideal.
