The Swag Board Unraveled: Detailed Review Inside
Tumblr media
Hoverboards have wheeled their way into the realm of personal transportation, promising an exhilarating, futuristic experience. Among these, the Swag Board review has emerged as a contender in the market, boasting style, functionality, and convenience. But does this self-balancing scooter truly live up to its swanky name? Let's unravel the enigma of the Swag Board through a detailed review.
Design and Build
At first glance, the Swag Board impresses with its sleek and modern design. It flaunts a minimalistic yet eye-catching appearance, drawing attention with its glossy finish and streamlined contours. Its compact size makes it easily portable, catering to the on-the-go lifestyle.
However, a closer inspection reveals a somewhat average build quality. While the outer shell appears stylish, it might not withstand rough usage as much as some sturdier competitors. The placement of the power button, charging port, and indicator lights is convenient, but there's room for improvement in terms of durability.
Performance
The essence of any self-balancing scooter lies in its performance. The Swag Board shines in its ability to provide a smooth ride, offering decent stability and responsiveness. Equipped with gyroscopic technology, it adapts to the rider's movements, making it relatively easy to learn for beginners.
The board's 400-watt motor propels it to a respectable speed, hitting around 7-10 miles per hour. While this speed range suits casual cruising, enthusiasts seeking faster rides might find it lacking. The battery life, averaging around 4-6 hours per charge, aligns well with the industry standard but could vary depending on terrain and usage.
Click here to know more : -
User Experience
One of the Swag Board's selling points is its user-friendly nature. It accommodates riders of varying skill levels, offering a comfortable ride once the initial learning curve is overcome. The non-slip footpads and responsive sensors enhance the overall experience, instilling confidence in maneuvering through different terrains.
However, the absence of customizable features might disappoint some users. Unlike its competitors, the Swag Board lacks app integration or adjustable riding modes, limiting the personalization options that tech-savvy riders often seek.
Safety and Reliability
Safety is paramount when gliding on any personal transportation device. The Swag Board incorporates safety features like LED lights for visibility in low-light conditions, contributing to rider security. Additionally, its UL2272 certification ensures compliance with safety standards, reassuring users about its electrical and fire safety.
Yet, concerns arise regarding the Swag Board's reliability over time. Some users report issues with the board's components—ranging from malfunctions in the gyroscopic system to battery inconsistencies—raising questions about long-term durability.
Verdict
In conclusion, the Swag Board review presents itself as a stylish and accessible option in the realm of self-balancing scooters. Its sleek design, user-friendly nature, and decent performance make it an attractive choice for beginners and casual riders seeking an entry-level hoverboard.
However, its average build quality and potential reliability issues in the long run might deter more experienced riders or those seeking advanced features. While it offers a satisfactory ride, it falls short in providing the customizable options and durability that some enthusiasts crave.
Ultimately, the Swag Board could be an appealing choice for individuals prioritizing style and ease of use over advanced functionalities and long-term reliability.
As with any purchase, potential buyers should weigh their preferences and requirements before swaying toward the Swag Board or exploring other options in the market.

Through Fire and Shimmer
╭──────────.★..─╮ *After being forced into working for Silco, you bond with his second-in-command, Sevika, who initially resents the babysitting role but begins to appreciate the small moments of connection with you. During a mission, you're injured in an ambush, and Sevika helps you recover, leading to a deepening friendship marked by mutual care and a shift in the tension between you. ╰─..★.──────────╯
It's been a few months since you've joined Silco’s cause. You didn't really join willingly, he threatened to kill your family if you didn't help him. He needed you to do testing on shimmer to make it more manageable and make mutations to it so it's not just a drug that heals sometimes and on top of that he wanted you to run the numbers for his shimmer deliveries and such. After a few months you start fitting in with the chembearens after long and painful meetings of you trying to explain biological reactions but only getting mocked.
Silco assigned his number 2, Sevika, to assist you and bodyguard you when you went out for supplies, she thought of it more as babysitting. She was always acted brooding and frustrated when she was sent on these jobs with you knowing there was something more important she could be doing but she didn't mind taking a break from getting her face beat every day and she didn't get to do domestic things like running errands often.you felt awkward with her standing behind you constantly without saying a word so the second week into your job you decided to try starting a conversation with her not really knowing any of sevikas intrestets
“What's your favorite kind of liquor to drink?” you chirp while tilting your head back and slowing pace so you can walk next to her. Sevika looked down at you with a questionable look on her face then looked back up with an unimpressed look on her face
“Whisky” she replied in a dry tone
“Why whisky?”
This lead you guys down a road talking about alcohol and a few drunk stories that you were surprised sevika told you so quickly making a new bond between the two of you and these small conversations between you guys soon became her favourite part of being your bodyguard even though she wishes she could be more for the entirety of Silco’s cause still not thinking what you were doing was that significant. Her least favorite part of these jobs was when goons in the markets hit on you. Most of the time you would tell them off and they would walk off, but then there would be a few that wouldn't back off and that's when she would have to actually do her job.
After a few months of this sevika is getting majorly annoyed by this, feeling that silco doesn't see her value and that he has lost respect therefore demoting her even after her  years of loyalty. You notice this and try not to frustrate her, you stop trying to start conversations and not making eye contact with her because anytime you meet her gaze she has this look of resentment that scares the shit out of you.
One day after months of perfecting this new formula of shimmer, Silco wanted you to tag along with sevika on a shimmer pick up and delivery so you can explain to the buyer how to handle this new mutation of shimmer. This was sevikas first real job and was very willing to go. When you where at your first stop sevika noticed when you were explaining the shimmer they weren't really listening to you but rather looking at you in a lay that made sevikas spine crawl, this made sevika stand behind you, not close enough for you to take any notice but close enough for the men to take notice and go back to listening about the shimmer
While you were finishing up the last of the conversation with the buyers there was a surprise attack from the firelights. Not having any weapons or fighting experience you try dodging the bombs that were flying near you but that wasn't enough because a firelight on there hoverboards comes out of nowhere with a pipe flying at your face, but if that split second sevika jumps out pulling you down to the ground behind some boxes
There you two are
Bombs flying
Guns firing
And sevikas face is buried into your chest. You don't take notice due to the 170 lbs that just hit you making your head hit the floor, giving you a definite conclusion. After Sevika releases what position she's in, she immediately pushes herself off and tells you to stay right where you were and join back into the fight trying not to think about how warm and soft your tits were. Sevika leaving so fast to go fight lead her to not knowing you passed out from your concussion seconds later
After the fight ended with the firelights failing and retreating. Sevika looked around for you thinking you would come out once you stopped hearing the fight but no. She went back to the corner behind boxes and saw you laying there cluncked out. Sevika picked you up and threw you over her shoulder and signaled to the rest of the group that was doing the delivery to go back to silco.
Once you got back to silcos office and explained the ambush, sevika took you back to your office where you spent most of your time tinkering with the simmer and any other work you dealt with. It had a small couch where Sevika usually sat on the days she looked over you, your experiment table, and a small vase of blue violets. Sevika lays your still unconscious body down on your couch and waits for you to wake up. She didn't know why she waited, she didn't need to wait for you but she did.
You wake up and see sevika at your desk looking over your notes
“Shes lives” sevika says in a sarcastic tone
“What happened?” you slur trying to pick yourself up off the couch
“The firelights ambushed us and you got caught in it” sevika didnt think you needed to remember her shoving her face in your chest, hoping if she didnt remind you of it you would forget it entirely. “Mmmh” you mumble feeling the concussion headache hit feeling off in pressure. You feel the back you your neck and feel some semi dried blood
“Hey sev, can you hand me the first aid kit in my top drawer please” sevika looks at you confused for a second then retrieving the first aid kit for you and walking over to you
“Sev?” she asked in a questioning tone
“Its a nickname, would you prefer vika?” you say as you take the first aid kit from vika who sits on the coffee table infront of the couch.
“Why dont you just call me by my name?”
“ because a nickname is a form of endearment and i think weve gotten to that point in our friendship” you start taking out the supplies from the kit that you need while continuing the conversation
“Oh really now” sevika says in a taunting tone “since when have we been friend”
“When have we not” you say while giving her a smile. You try taking a cotten pad to the back of your neck where you felt the blood but you cant quite get the exact spot where the bloods coming from, sevika sees this and sits behind you on the couch facing your neck and swiping the cotten pad from your hand
“Ill do it” sev says in a gruff tone but you can hear the endearment in her voice
A moment goes by with sevika cleaning your wound in silence
“Thank you, Sevika” you say in a soft tone
“Don't mention it” she replies quietly
After sevika finished patching up your neck you turned to her and looked her in her eyes not seeing resentment anymore, you see a new, unfamiliar look in her eyes. You look down at her flesh hand and see the cuts on it and then noticing the gash on her face
“Can I fix your hand?” you ask. Sevika looks down on her hand and then at the door
“Sure” she says hesitantly” with that you take her hand in yours and clean the blood and dirt off the cuts on her knuckles trying your best not to hurt her. Sevika looks at you while you're looking down at her hand and feels a new sense of fear. once you finished with her hand you look up at her face
“Can I fix that one too?” you ask gently not wanting to scare her off, this being the closest you've ever been to her. Sevika nods in response but clearly tense. You scoot closest to her and prepare another pad with alcohol. You softly take sevikas face in your hand so you can position her right. Before putting the pad on her wound you look into her eyes again and feel tension trust she's putting in your hands right now. You proceed with cleaning her wound and putting a cover on it so it's not exposed. When you finished you were the first one to pull away from the couch where it felt like all the tension was. After taking a few steps you felt a dizziness hit you making your steps sway making sevika jump to your side and you leaning over her shoulder.
“Let's get you home” sevika said while propping you up on her shoulder and smiling down at you
╭──────────.★..─╮ a/n: hey guys lmk if you like this and want more like this, feel free to request characters from arcane or any other fandom I mentioned in my bio 𖦹 ᖭ༏ᖫ ╰─..★.──────────╯

Months passed and the two groups hadn't crossed paths since that night. The all-female group had eased off on disrupting Daunter's shimmer convoys.
This made the Firelights' job easier, but it also planted a great sense of unease in Ekko. They couldn't have completely disappeared. Were they planning something? Or did Daunter manage to eliminate them himself?
One night, Ekko was scouting the area surrounding the Lanes with Zuke, a tall but slim, dark-haired Firelight recruited a few years back. They circled opposite ways until eventually they would meet each other again.
"You see anything?" Ekko asked after stepping off his board and onto a tiled roof of an apartment building.
Zuke followed suit, holding his board to his side.
"Suspicious activity a few buildings down from where the Last Drop used to be."
Ekko raised an eyebrow. The Lanes was no stranger to odd behaviours. Drug trades and petty theft often occurred in the undercity. Labelling something as suspicious would mean it ranged outside of these areas.
"Go on."
"Bunch of people wearing cloaks in an alley, and some fat guy."
Ekko's interest peaked at the mention of cloaks. "How many?"
Zuke thought back and shrugged. "Like, five maybe?"
Ekko nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Take me to them."
Zuke mounted his board, Ekko doing the same. They both took off, Zuke taking the lead. He led Ekko to a roof a few buildings down to ensure they wouldn't be spotted—especially given the green lights that streaked the air when they road their boards.
Both men slid their boards onto their backs and looked at one another, seeming to communicate without words before they darting off. They scaled the roofs of the buildings, getting closer to the alleyway where Zuke had spotted the cloaked group.
As soon as Ekko spotted them, he recognized the leader by her long, dark brown hair.
"It's them..." whispered Ekko, his tone full of spite and eyes never straying from the woman. He'd been bested by her twice, and she still had his mask, despite not wearing it on her person this time.
Zuke nodded and listened carefully. From their distance, it was a little tricky to hear what the group was discussing with the fat man.
They watched as the cloaked women lifted a lid of one of the barrels hidden in a crate. Both men were instantly able to identify what was inside of the barrel. The liquid was a glowing, swirling purple. Shimmer.
The long-haired leader sealed the barrel once more and one of the other members lifted the cover of the crate before dropping it in place, closing it.
"Meet... back... same spot... four hours..."
They were able to hear bits and pieces of the conversation, and it wasn't very difficult to fit them together and recognize what they were saying.
The fat man responded with something they couldn't hear, and then nodded his farewell.
Zuke and Ekko watched as the fat man walked off, leaving behind the group. The leader hopped up onto the crate, sitting crossed legged. Her casualness irritated Ekko further. His gaze flickered over to Zuke and then gestured with his head to follow him.
Ekko led him away from the alley, and then once far enough away instructed Zuke to follow him back to the Firelight hideout.
Ekko and Zuke entered, Zuke dismounting his board as they passed through the entrance.
"Gather the other Firelights. I'm gonna form a plan. We're going back there to stop whatever deal they're gonna make."
They parted ways and Ekko went straight to his room, using his hoverboard to fly to it. There, he placed his aeroglider against the wall at the end of his bed and got to work.
After their last run in with the all-female group, Ekko had created an armour of sorts for him and the other Firelights to wear during missions in case they crossed paths with them again. It was plated, ensuring the women were unable to use their paralysis pokes on them while also allowing his people to remain fully mobile.
There wasn't much he had to consider when it came to the plan. He just had to assign positions and roles. He would be leading them, of course. And his target would remain their leader. He had unfinished business with her, and this time he was prepared for any of her paralysis attacks.
About an hour later, Ekko met with the Firelights in the meeting room and briefed them on the mission they would be embarking on in a few hours. He explained how they'd be interrupting a potential shimmer trade between their enemy girl group and some unknown civilian. They would attack swiftly, bombarding them quickly and abruptly, catching them off guard and using this to their advantage. The goal was to stop the trade, capture the leader and some other members if possible, as well as the fat man they were making the trade with.
The Firelights left the meeting room to get ready for the mission that was to take place in a few hours. They would need to squeeze a meal in beforehand to ensure everyone had enough energy to complete the mission.
After dinner, Ekko went to his room to get ready. He gave his new invention a look over before removing his clothes and putting it on. It was like a protective barrier to wear underneath clothes. It would keep them safe from any paralysis attacks, while also remaining unseen by any enemies.
Once he was finished getting dressed, he headed downstairs to meet with his team.
The Firelights were chatting aimlessly amongst themselves when Ekko entered the room.
Scar was the first to notice him and greeted him with a nod in his direction.
"Alright guys, we leave in about 15 minutes. Everyone ready?"
A sequence of nods and the occasional 'yes' erupted from the Firelights and Ekko nodded.
"Good."
They soon departed the hideout, slicing through the smog of Zaun in swirls of neon as they flew their boards to their destination.
Ekko led his group to the alleyway. This time, rather than landing on a roof to ensure they weren't caught, they stormed the group head on while keeping to the air.
The leader quickly averted her gaze as the fat man gasped out 'Firelights'.
"Scatter!" she yelled, giving them only seconds to move out of the way.
The leader scaled a building quickly, seeing the fat man try to run away as she did so.
"Shit—"
Ekko watched her every move and nearly forgot to command the Firelights.
"Follow them!"
The Firelights swirled through the air, each of them branching off in different directions to give chase to the other group's members.
Ekko swerved his board around, keeping his attention on the leader. He removed his bat from behind his back and then charged at the her with high speeds.
She somersaulted away and then hopped back to her feet, ready to attack when the time was right.
Ekko circled her and then charged at her with the same momentum as before. He raised his bat and narrowly missed her head.
The woman ducked and then grabbed his board, though unlike their last fight, her grip didn't hold. Instead, her fingers slipped, and she watched as Ekko's board wobbled slightly before regaining balance.
She knew that in order to stand a chance against him, she would have to get him off his board somehow. So, when he charged at her again, she focused solely on him no matter how fast he travelled. She waited, standing still, and once he was just about to pass her, she jumped into the air and tackled him off his board.
The two of them rolled and then began sliding off the angled roof.
Ekko quickly grabbed ahold of a pipe, halting his descent to the ground.
The woman clutched onto his booted ankle and grunted as her body collided with the side of the building from the sudden stop.
Ekko began shaking his leg, trying to get the woman to let go.
She didn't.
He cursed under his breath and began trying to wiggle his foot out of his boot—which is what she was holding onto.
She started to climb up his body, pausing momentarily to try and poke behind his knee in attempt to paralyze his lower leg. She cried out as her fingers met something hard rather than his muscle, her digits plying backwards painfully.
"Ah! What the hell—"
Ekko smirked.
"Sorry, not this time."
He lifted the leg she was clinging to and slammed it down powerfully, stomping on her face.
She cried out again, the sole of his boot smashing into her face. During her pain and shock, she abruptly let go of his foot. She barely broke out of it in time to grasp onto something, which ended up being a crumbling brick. She grunted once more as her body crashed into the building for the second time.
"Fucking bastard—"
Ekko was pulling himself up onto the roof when he heard her curse, his smirk still smugly on his face. Finally, she could no longer pull one of her sneaky paralysis tricks on him.
The woman knew that if she couldn't paralyze him, the chances of her coming out of this fight victorious were slim; Therefore, she needed to run. She planted both feet flat against the brick wall and then pushed herself off it, backflipping into the air before landing onto the stone ground below.
Ekko already knew what her intentions were and quickly grabbed his aeroglider and mounted it. He sped down towards her, his bat in hand.
She sensed his rapid approach and jumped out of the way. She made a sudden turn into a slim alleyway that branched off the same street the other alleyway was connected to.
Ekko caught a glimpse of the ends of her hair fanning behind her as she disappeared down the alleyway with haste.
"Shit—"
He accelerated quickly and made a dangerously sharp turn, having to do a vertical loop to prevent himself from falling off his board.
His aeroglider moved at speeds that surpassed any speed he'd managed with it before. He was seconds away from her when he squatted down on his board and then pushed himself off it with as much force as he could muster. He flung himself into the air and kept his gaze set directly on her. Bat in hand, he tackled her to the ground.
He heard her cry of pain as she was forcefully thrown to the ground under the weight of him. Like this, he was able to see just how small she was. She was even tinier than he'd originally thought, and by the little resistance he felt from her, she wasn't very strong either.
He grabbed a fistful of her hair, currently pinning her with her front pressed against the ground. He pulled upwards and then slammed her face back into the cobblestones, disorientating her before pushing himself up slightly so that he could turn her over onto her back.
He could tell that his attempt of dizzying her worked, as any resistance she'd given him before had ceased.
"HEY!" a raspy, womanly voice called out, drawing his attention away from the leader underneath him.
"Huh—"
"Get off her you pervert!" a separate, much more high-pitched voice came seconds before his body began to convulse and spasm. He fell to the side, effectively releasing the female leader from underneath him.
Moments later, he was shoved the rest of the way off her and unable to do anything about it. His body twitched involuntarily, though he found he could still move, just not without being interrupted by sporadic convulsions.
"What the fu—" He turned his head to get a better look at who'd electrocuted him and spotted chartreuse colored hair tied in short, high-pinned ponytails, the owner of which wearing the same attire as the rest of the women in the group, minus the red scarf. He tried to sit up, only to be struck with the same sensation as before, his body jerking uncontrollably as the woman shot yellow electricity at him from her hand.
"Stay down, idiot,” the woman warned before bending down to check on her leader, keeping her fingers pointed at him in a gun shape.
"Zeri?" Another female voice called; more footsteps being heard.
Her head turned at the sound of her name being called.
"Derora, I don't think she's conscious enough to move on her own," the yellow-green haired woman, who was revealed to be named Zeri, said.
Ekko slowly pulled himself up a little so that he could watch what was unfolding beside him. Right now, his hands were tied with what he could do. This Zeri person was able to electrocute him and had her fingers ready and aimed in his direction. He couldn't make any sudden movements. And now, there was another person joining them. He was outnumbered and out of options.
'Where are the Firelights?'
The woman who Zeri referred to as Derora came into view, and Ekko's mouth fell open at what he saw. She looked just like Sevika... The woman who used to be Silco's second-in-command but was now a part of the counsel in Piltover. The only difference was this woman still had both of her arms. His gaze switched from Sevika's look-alike, to Zeri, to the leader, to Derora again.
'What kind of fever dream is this?'
"What are we going to do about him?" Derora asked, her eyes narrowed into a glare.
"Hmm... Oh, I know!" the cheerful girl raised herself up onto her tippy toes and whispered something into Derora's ear.
Derora shrugged, and seconds later Ekko's eyes widened. The last thing he saw was the underside of the woman's boot before everything went dark.

Birds of a Feather (Chapter 1)
The sounds of pointless showboating and competitive theatre were still ringing in Silver's ears. As he walked the tunnels of a great sky-ship, every clanking step reminded him of the force they were up against. How anyone could see this as anything more than a trap set by Eggman he had no idea. No matter how often or how thoroughly he insisted though, allies and enemies alike seemed to be caught up in the excitement of competition- willing to ignore the inevitable catastrophe until it became undeniable. Well, at least he had his partner to rely on...
Silver knocked at a metal door, "It's me!"
The entryway split down the centre and slid open, revealing a cramped vault that'd served as their base for the past four nights. At the room's centre, leaning over a table with pen in hand, stood Blaze the cat. For this adventure she'd eschewed her usual long coat and tights, opting instead for a more aerodynamic purple racing jumpsuit with yellow stripes. They were oddly matching, considering the placement of cyan lines on his own black race suit.
"Where's Jet?" She immediately asked.
"Down the hall, clowning around with Sonic. I stayed for as long as I could stand it," Silver quickly answered, closing the distance between them, "He'll be safe with him, we've got time to plan. I think Wave knows just how dangerous Jet's new necklace is."
"That wouldn't surprise me," The cat sighed, her face a mix of relief and frustration, "Did she manage to fix your Extreme Gear?"
"Good as new," The psychic set the board down on the table, glancing to the cat's work, "How are you getting on?"
"I've plotted us what should be the fastest route possible, I doubt Jet will have any complaints," She spun the paper to face him, "If we maintain an elevation of one hundred and twenty five meters, we should pass over the top of any monuments in our path. The skies are clear today, we'll be able to see any threats from above or below with ease."
Silver scanned the sheet, Blaze had lain out a very simple route. This leg of the race spanned a number of ruined temples across a desert, concluding at the entry road of the city of Shamar. The cat had indicated the path of least resistance, opting to avoid locations where Eggman could have set traps or planned ambushes. There were plenty of locations for him to have done such; from underground tunnels to deep valleys and even oases that would surely entice travellers. If they weren't here, Jet would surely have found himself ensnared at one of those locations...
"Any chance of a sandstorm?" Silver asked.
"None reported," Blaze answered, "But, considering this race so far..."
"Best to expect the unexpected, not that Jet will," Frustration stirred in Silver's chest, "It'd be nice if he would heed some of our warnings after all we've been through, even if he refuses to accept this is all a trap for him."
Her hand brushed over his as she took back the map, he caught concern in her gaze, "Are you certain you're feeling okay?"
Beneath his race suit a lattice of bandages crisscrossed up the hedgehog's right shoulder, placed there by Blaze herself yesterday's leg of the race. While focused on protecting Jet from a mechanical assailant, a second foe had struck the hedgehog's board and caused it to glitch. Before he'd been able to react, the Extreme Gear had flipped upside down and scraped him through the red dirt outside of Mazuri. After he and Blaze had dispatched those foes, he'd psychically forced his board to carry him across the finish line. He'd come in last place- not counting the robotic racers they'd destroyed.
"Just a little stiff," He rolled his shoulder, playing it off, "Arms aren't that important for hoverboard racing anyway."
Concern still lingered in her eyes, the psychic felt the need to change the subject.
"Why don't we just take the amulet from him?" Silver blurted out, "While Wave was fixing my board, she couldn't stop looking at it. When I asked if she knew anything about it, she got all defensive, as if she' was trying to hide the truth from Jet too. They almost started fighting about it, the big grey guy had to separate them, they clearly know it's dangerous- it might be why they're refusing to race with him."
"While that would be easiest, it would be unwise. I've dealt with frustrating leaders in court before, it is best to keep them on side lest they become annoying foes rather than merely tedious allies," Blaze answered, having clearly considered this course of action, "Besides, there are hints of the ancient Babylonians in my dimension as well- he may well find a way to visit. Him not liking us is unfortunate but endurable; however, I don't want to make a new enemy for my people."
"That's fair. You are more diplomatic than me," He accepted, "I can barely put up with Sonic as it is..."
Blaze snorted, "And Sonic's not half as frustrating."
"I don't know, I think they're more similar than you realise. Having been stuck in a room with them both, it became hard to tell where one ended and the other began," Silver lamented, "Competition just brings out the worst in these people..."
As if on queue, fresh shouts echoed up the hall, "Look, if you really want to make this fair, how about we swap boards? I'll still beat you, even with that handicap."
"As if! Just because your little two tailed poindexter can't make a half decent board doesn't mean I have to give up mine," A certain hawk's rebuttable sounded, if only the door had closed behind the psychic...
"Come on Jet, think about what you're saying. If that were really true, which it's totally not Tails, then I've won the last two stages even with a disadvantage," Sonic barbed, the young fox must have just joined them.
"You've only won because my teammates are holding me back," Silver looked to Blaze, she just rolled her eyes, "The burden on me carrying them is magnitudes heavier than you can even comprehend. If I wasn't looking out for them, your so called friends would be little more than smears on the racetrack by now."
Neither wanted the other to have the last word, "Really? I dunno, I think having psychic to catch you when you fall has really helped you, butter-talons. Not to mention someone who can ignite your boosters without draining the batteries."
"As always, you talk big Sonic- but we all know how this series is gonna end. Silver's already in this race, so I guess you'll be left with bronze," The green racer chortled.
"Wow, how long did it take you to think that one up?" The blue blur bounced back, "All that thinking, and the joke doesn't even make sense- this is a team race, you'll share your spot on the podium with him."
"Yeah," Now Tails was piping up. Great, "You can keep Silver, we'll get the gold!"
"Oh would you shut up, twerp!" Jet shouted, only to be met with the barks of an arriving Knuckles.
Finally, it sounded like the door to Team Sonic's dormitory had shut. Blissful quiet lasted for only a moment, soon Jet rounded from the hall to join the hedgehog and feline in their shared room. Despite how badly he'd lost that argument, he was still radiating his typical smugness- hoverboard beneath his arm and goggles stuck to his forehead.
"So," Jet smoothed back his feathers, "How's it going, team?"
"Fine, I've just finished planning our next route," Blaze answered, as if she hadn't heard anything.
"It looks great," Silver praised, "You should probably memorise it quickly, the next race is set to start any minute now."
"Don't make excuses- I saw you slip away, Silver, leaving me without reinforcements. I know where your allegiances lie you overemotional numbskull," Before Silver could ask what the hawk meant, he'd snatched Blaze's proposed route map from the table, "This is cowardly garbage."
Blaze began to explain, "This route-
"Is awful," Jet jeered.
She took a beat of silence before opening up again, "It-
"Is for incompetent fools unfit to compete in this calibre of race," His insult continued.
Silver felt the air suck from the room as the temperature skyrocketed. He didn't need to look at Blaze to know her expression; her hands would be steepled, she would show no malice in her expression but her tail would be batting wildly by her feet and her pupils would be sharper than daggers. While she was used to dealing with bureaucrats, Jet's brand of ugly and blunt rudeness had been chipping away at her since they met. It was only when the two were separate that she was able to be pragmatic about their circumstances, to use her terms.
Despite the shift, the cat once again spoke in her diplomatic tone, "In this competition, with all of our Extreme Gear being so similar in construction, I believe proper route planning is the best method to gain an advantage- ensuring the most direct route that also eliminates risks we can foresee is paramount," Jet snorted, but Blaze continued, "Flying high will be to our advantage, we are set to encounter cloudless skies today. At the height I've recommended, we won't need to weave around the ruins between the start and finish lines- there will be no surprises."
"If you ride up where the air is clear there's no acceleration, no rush, just a flat and boring ride. It's barely even a competition, what's the point?" Jet spat, "Might as well walk if you're not going to take any risks."
"While that may be your personal opinion," Blaze countered, "This is undoubtedly the safest and fastest route to the finish line. There'll be no surprises-
"Soaring high above the track is for infants with training thrusters. Kitty, you've made it obvious to me why you two are always coming in last," Jet plucked a feather from his head and proceeded to dip it in Blaze's ink, "Let me show you two how the Legendary Wind Master plots a course," The racer proceeded to draw perhaps the curviest course imaginable- practically ensuring the route went over, under, or around every possible obstacle as narrowly as possible, "There, now that's a proper route," He concluded by crossing the one and five from Blaze's recommended height, rendering it down to two meters, and writing max beneath it.
Feeling molten heat emanate from Blaze, Silver spoke up, "As the leader of the team, you literally told her to plot our course for this next leg. Why would you do that if you're just going to come up with your own plan minutes before the race?"
"Well, I can admit I made a mistake- so I'm rectifying it. Maybe you're the brains and she's the brawn; that'd make you two the opposite of Wave and Storm," Jet scoffed, "You should be thankful that I'm using my position as team leader to overrule her."
Silver grit his teeth, "She's not wrong though, is she? Whether you think it's boring or not, her route is faster than yours and isn't that the whole point?"
"Maybe neither of you are the brains, let me put this as simply as possible- if you fly high, it takes you longer to get anywhere," He was looking at them like they were idiots, "Not only is the distance between start and finish literally further to fly, but you've got to deal with tons more wind resistance and thinner air- those are boring hazards that make for an annoying race," Silver curled his toes, "Being close to the ground means you're travelling less distance. Sure, you've got obstacles to deal with, but just be great like me and avoid them, or better still use them to get ahead of the pack. That's the way true masters fly."
A cold sigh sounded from Blaze, Silver dared to look to her. The cat seemed to have steadied herself, rising to full attention and crossing her arms- her expression was serious, though unperturbed by Jet's rudeness. Despite that, the hedgehog could still see the base of her tail bouncing from side to side, crossing by her waist as its tip surely swept the floor.
"You know why we're suggesting this course of action, why don't we dispense with the formalities and discuss that directly instead?" Blaze politely steamed, "For days now, we've risked life and limb to protect you and that necklace. Why won't you accept that you're in danger?"
Around Jet's neck hung an amulet which was simultaneously a puzzle and a key. It looked like a curled form of the golden dragon which had, in Silver's time, managed to induce the apocalypse. After Eggman managed to steal the trinket and unlock the reality it hid, that very monster had been unleashed. It'd destroyed the world by casting down Babylon Garden and Angel Island as meteorites. In the wake of that effort, it had gathered gold from both its home dimension and the planet it had destroyed into a great mountainous hoard over a mile high. It was only through a frantic recording left by Tails that the psychic and Blaze had learned what all had transpired.
"Really? We're this far in and you're still acting like there's some grand conspiracy to kidnap me over an artefact I found a little over a week ago?" Jet scoffed, "How would Eggman even know what this thing is, let alone that I have it. What, is he watching me at all times? Is he just that much of a fan?" He seemed to genuinely consider that for a moment, "Guess he has good taste."
"We've encountered new robots in each round of the competition- on every possible occasion they have posed a serious threat. They have lain in wait and pursued you, attacked on all fronts," Blaze pushed, "It is only because we are disposing of them that you are even still in this race. Some of the machines are even competitors, you must have seen them for yourself?"
"Eggman enters these races all the time, he uses them to test his robots or something, I don't really care what he does- besides, his gizmos can make boring races way more exhilarating. His robots giving you guys trouble doesn't mean he's here for me," Jet said, very incorrect, "But look, to humour you both, even if he wanted to get a hold of this amulet; one, he could never catch me, and two, he wouldn't know what to do with it if he did! This is ancient Babylonian technology," His fists clenched as he pounded the table, "It's obvious that you guys have your heats set on the Babylonian Dragon's realm of treasure, but turn your attention to the gold in front of us. I won't let Sonic beat me, not again!"
"If the race is your focus, and unlocking its secrets is so impossible, then why not let one of us carry the amulet," Silver slid in, reaching out, "We'll return it to you after each leg of-
"Not a chance," Jet smacked his hand away, "Look, I don't think you can crack this puzzle, but I'm not stupid. You two clearly know more about it than you're letting on."
The two of them hadn't admitted their outlandish origins to the racer, realising that it would only make things more complicated. Silver had considered sharing his status as a time traveller, but quickly realised that any attempts to prove it would be much too difficult and dangerous. Removing Jet from the timeline now, especially with the amulet, would lead them to arrive at an entirely different apocalypse. Alternatively, revealing Blaze's status as a princess would have surely made her a future target of the Babylon Rogues- along with being racers, they were thieves after all...
"Besides, we already made our deal. You help me win this championship, I grant you the honour of working to solve the puzzle's mystery alongside the Babylonians' true heirs. You won't so much as touch this amulet until this prix is done," The hawk insisted.
Silver spoke up once again, hoping to give the cat more time to cool off, "Jet, be reasonable, just-
"Look, you guys can take your stupid high road if you want- if it means you'll place better than on the last three days then I even encourage it, maybe you should take it easy, but I'll be taking the low path," His beak twisted into a smirk, "We'll see who gets to the finish line first."
"We're supposed to be a team, we're meant to travel together," Blaze hissed, only to be met with the blaring of a siren.
"Yeah, well, you guys are really dragging this team down!" Jet scoffed, gesturing to his necklace, "Seems to me that you two don't deserve my aid in solving this grand mystery, keep acting like this and you won't get to so much as sight the treasure hoard. I'm starting to think I should have teamed up with those robots who asked me instead, they weren't nearly so demanding," With a swish of his tail-feathers and a stupid smirk, he left their room, "See you on the track, gang."
"Those robots were destined to capture him before the race could even begin," Silver grumbled, picking up his board, "We need to follow him, we have no choice."
Blaze swiped the map, giving it a fresh scan through furrowed brows, "No matter how difficult he makes this for us."
With a gesture he psychically passed Blaze her extreme gear as the pair made their way out and down the hall. Jet was already upon his board, he'd sped to catch up with Sonic and the pair were trading foolish barbs once more. The population of the race had been a little under two dozen, consisting of seven teams of three. Two teams had been dispatched of, having revealed themselves to be robots, but the number of mechanical racers seemed to keep ballooning.
They flooded out into the hanger that was to be the starting line, a red light shone to the sides of a massive cargo door which would soon open into a ramp. Team Sonic's starting positions were on the far end of the line, alongside Team Dark and Amy's Team- perhaps they'd been intentionally separated from the pack? While their usual allies hadn't offered much in the way of aid, seemingly distracted by the race or their own goals, they had wiped out a few robots before with varying levels of intentionality...
"I count five new robot teams," Blaze stated.
"This is sloppy, there wasn't even an announcement that they'd be joining the race," A glance to Jet found him still taunting Sonic's team from afar, "Not that he seems to care..."
A second siren sounded as their trio arrived at their signposted starting position far away from the others, a yellow light shone where once red had before. With a loud clunk the cargo door opened, revealing that the airship was still in flight. Beneath them was an endless horizon of yellow sands, populated by errant ruins which would have been so easy to avoid...
"I'll see you two at the finish line," Jet jeered, his eyes caught Silver's frown, "Try not to wipe out this time!"
With a final klaxon, green lights flashed at both sides of the entryway. The racers pushed off to soar; leaving the airship behind and embracing the bright blue sky. Already, Jet was ahead of him and Silver was scanning for threats. He was heading for the ground, using gravity's pull to get a starting boost of speed. A swarm of hoverboard riding robots were following him toward the dunes- this could only end badly...

A MAXDOOF FIC/DRABBLE PART 1
Heinz and Max exited the shop one after the other, empty-handed and heavy-stepped, bummed that their spree was spoiled after finding out the both of them were without money at the checkout counter. Tempted as they were, their load had been too much to confidently attempt running out with it all, resulting in the returning of goods in shame.
"I must've walked right past my wallet on my way out this morning!" the forgetful Dr. Doofenshmirtz reasoned.
And Max, never one to spend money if he could get away with it, added, "And I hadn't thought to bring any cash. Sorry."
But their soured moods were at once replaced with concern when the outdoor conditions grabbed their attention. The sky had darkened considerably since the two had last glimpsed it. They'd been determined to make it back to Heinz's building before the gathering clouds let loose, equipped only with a lone umbrella -- the one thing Heinz remembered to grab.
"Ah, I don't think we'll make it the full two blocks before it hits," Heinz grumbled. "We should've brought Norm, but I didn't wanna deal with him in the store. The scooter needs charged. The van was towed off and I still need to get that back..."
"I should've grabbed my hoverboard," Max added to the pile of regrets.
Heinz sighed and pulled the umbrella out from under his labcoat and held it at the ready like a bat over his shoulder. A couple steps behind, Max hurried to match the taller man's stride, zipping his jacket closed and holding onto his hat as the faint breeze picked up.
The two made it just to the other side of the street before the first drops splattered down. Immediately, Heinz opened the umbrella and held it protectively over both their heads, casting an apologetic look down at Max.
"Sorry, I- I only had the one--"
That was all the man could say before a gust of wind caught underneath it and nearly ripped the handle from his grip, turning the umbrella inside out. Both threw out their arms to catch and pull the material back into the right shape, and in doing so, Max's hat flew off and tumbled down the street.
"Damn it!"
While Heinz still fidgeted with the umbrella, Max sprinted off after the hat. The wind grew relentless then, as if determined to keep him from catching his favorite possession. He neglected to watch where he was going, wide eyes glued to the twirling dot of green up in the air when he came up to an uneven block of sidewalk jutting upward. He tripped and fell to his hands on the concrete, shouting in surprise at the abrupt stop in his pursuit.
"Max!" Heinz's call cut through the wind from meters behind. "Wait! Are you all ri--"
Max didn't heed the man's call. Alien that he was, the fall brought no harm to him. Instead, he frantically gathered himself up and continued the chase on all fours. Eyes casting all around the empty street, he soon regained his sights on the hat, which somersaulted over a turn in the road and down the next street.
All at once, the rain came down in diagonal turrents. Large drops pelted Max's visor like bullets, blinding him in seconds, as the wind roared in his sensitive ears. But none of this meant anything to him. He acted on instinct and shook off his blinders, the visor clinking off into the road, forgotten.
-
A block behind, the ever-unlucky Dr. Doofenshmirtz huddled against the brick wall beneath an overhang, having no such luck keeping dry as the rain pelted him at a near-sideways angle. He resorted to holding his umbrella like a shield against the onslaught.
"How could this get any worse?" he grunted. "First we forget our wallets at the store, and now my partner's run away in a storm! And now I'm stuck here and- and probably gonna have to make it back alone. Heh, I guess it could be worse. We could've lost my entire grocery list after paying full price! Talk about a blessing in disguise."
A particularly strong gust then succeeded in ripping the umbrella from his hands, and Heinz watched with half-lidded eyes as it blew backwards out of sight in the blinding rain.
"I- should've seen that coming..."
-
Max wouldn't -- couldn't -- stop the chase. Hands and hind paws bolted seamlessly over concrete and asphalt alike even as the ground flooded with puddles. His clothes were soaked through and his hair was flattened down and clinging to his face and neck. The world around him was nothing but pounding, roaring water which devised against him, vowing that he would fail in his hunt for the object.
Max couldn't recall what exactly the object was or its significance to him. He only knew that hunting the object down was his one and only objective, and he would see it through.
There!
The object was blown sideways into a gap in the wall. Max turned abruptly after it, his hands and paws finding the squelch and splatter of mud. Annoying, but not a hindrance for one of his kind. He splashed through the swampy stretch of ground between the ever-stretching walls as the object danced away, always away, with the wind.
Have to catch it! Have to catch the object!
He ran out into the open and turned in a different direction, following the wind that carried the object.
Two bright lights appeared from behind the world of water and shined down on him, filling his vision with white.
BEEEEEEEEEEEP!
Max faltered and skidded over the flooding ground. At the last second, he scrambled out of the way as a very large, beastly object thundered past with its ever-so-bright eyes shining out into the storm behind him.
Fear of being hunted took over Max's instincts. He fled in the opposite direction, forgetting his own hunt, only wanting to be away from the beast that was bigger.
-
"Is it finally letting up?" Heinz asked the sky.
The poor umbrella-less man was drenched and shivering as he made his stumbling way down the block back to his building. But at least the rain no longer pelted at his face and the wind no longer whipped at his labcoat.
"I just hope Max made it back before me," he continued. "I wouldn't wanna have to go back out looking for him. Ah, he knows the way, he- he should be fine!"
Heinz trudged to the entrance of his building and defeatedly pressed the button to be let in.
Just then, he was suddenly sent to the ground as an unknown force slammed into him from behind.
"OOF!"
"AUGH!"
Flat on the pavement, Heinz took a moment to get his bearings, the wind having been knocked out of him. But when he finally looked up to see what had been responsible, he gasped.
"Max! What- what happened! You- You're covered in mud!"
"Huh? Wha-?"
Max shook his head as thoughts and words began to return to him. He looked down at the man in the soaked, almost see-through labcoat, now caked in mud thanks to him. He scrambled to get up and helped Heinz to his feet, apologizing profusely.
"I'm so sorry, I just- I had a dog shift, I wasn't in my right mind!"
Heinz straightened his rumpled form and shook his head as if to say forget it.
"It's okay, Max. I, well, I don't really know what that means, but it's all right! Let's- Let's just get inside and get us cleaned up, okay? You can explain later."

Misfits (yeah like the Arcane song)
XXIX.

Author's note: Guys how bad is it that I'm making a cardboard cutout of Ekko right now? Be honest...
previous: Twenty eighth chapter
next: Thirtieth chapter
Masterlist
___________________________________________________
"If you wanna do an upside down loop, you need to grab the board too, or well, I'm sure you can figure out the consequences on you own."
Ekko's gaze trailed off into the abyss and you followed his gaze, nodding in understanding. Your board turned and you flew a bit away from him, creating space to try the loop. You leaned and the board turned around and flew faster. You shifted your weight and the board shot up, you tried to crouch down and catch the board, but you missed and slipped off.
Ekkos hand caught yours before you could plummet to the ground and you got thrown back onto your board.
"That was sad to watch. You can do better."
You nodded and stood up, flying away again, and repeating the process. This time you managed to not fall, but you almost knocked the boy down when coming back.
"Gee, don't kill me too!"
He screamed and ducked in the last moment. You caught you balance again and stopped the speeding device.
"Sorry!"
After a few more attempts you got the hang of it and could do a proper loop without endangering yourself and anyone around you. You made another loop, and mid air, you spotted movement down in the greyness below. That threw you off and you slipped and fell right into Ekkos' arms.
"How many times am I gonna have catch you? I'm starting to think you're doing it on purpose."
Your face warmed up a little and your expression was portraying awkwardness as the boy flew you back towards your hoverboard, that waited for you a few meters higher.
"I saw something down there."
You pointed to the distance under you with the arm that wasn't around Ekko's neck.
"Here? This place is lifeless now."
The boy shook his head and put you down onto your board again.
"Are you saying I'm lying?"
Your eyebrows were raised and you stared at him until he raised his arm in defeat.
"Let's check it out?"
Ekko sighed and suggested, hoping to prove to you that there was nothing alive in this place. A smug smile spread on your lips and you nodded and flew to the ground with your hoverboard, Ekko on your heels.
You hoped off the board and it fell into your hands, you secured it to your back and looked around. The boy appeared at your side and did the same thing. Then something rattled in the distance. The two of you exchanged glances and followed its direction, trying to not make a sound. You hardly saw anything down there, then only light came from the billboard, and your eyes were fixed on the way ahead of you. Then something scrambled across the road and ran inside a building. You stared to run towards it, but Ekko held you back by your arm.
"You don't know what it is. Don't run head first into it."
You rolled your eyes and pulled your hand out of his grasp, but agreed with him nonetheless. The two of you slowly approached the house the creature ran into, the dust on the ground revealed it's big footsteps.
"Remind me why we're doing this?"
He whispered right into your ear, trying to make as little noise as possible, but his solution send goosebumbs down your back, as his hot breath warmed the side of your face and neck. You shook the feeling away and focused on the present, pushing further into the building.
"You wanted to prove to me that there's nothing down here."

A18: The Number of Lights
Characters: Nagi, Toi, Ryui, Daniel, Netaro Location: Hakodate Summary: They finally find Toi’s brother, Ryui, but he ends up running away. Toi and the others frantically chase after Ryui, who runs up Hachiman Slope… Proofreader: Shay
Translator’s Notes ☽.‎˖
A stitch, otherwise known as a side cramp, is a type of abdominal pain that commonly occurs when running or exercising.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ryui: Haa, haa…! …Sorry, Toi. We can’t meet right now. Please understand.
*Ryui runs off*
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ📍 Location: Hakodate – Hachiman Slope
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ryui: (...Wha… What the hell is this huge hill…!?)
(There’s just a bit of battery left, so I should be able to use it to get over this hill…)
Toi (from a distance): Ani-samaaaa~!!
Ryui: Heh…!
*Ryui makes a run for it*
Nagi: ! He’s gone up the slope…!
Daniel: Ugh, it’s fine if I walk from here, right? Ain’t no way I’m runnin’ up that thing.
Momiji / Kaede: This is… Hachiman Slope…!!
There are around 19 slopes of various sizes that connect Mt. Hakodate to the bay area!
This area was once plagued with large fires, and these slopes and their wide roads were created to prevent the spreading… of fire…! Haa, haa!
Nagi: I… see…
Momiji / Kaede: And… if you… go up… 300 metres… you’ll be… greeted with a… lovely scenery…! Ugh!
Toi: M–Manageeeer!
Daniel: Don’t go back – It’s over once you get a [⁎]stitch.
*Nagi, Toi and Daniel run off*
Momiji / Kaede: Argh…
Yodaka: Are you alright, Manager? Good job making it this far. Don’t worry, I’ll stay with you until you’re back on your feet.
Daniel (from a distance): At least run, Yodaka…! Geez.
Ryui: Haa, haa…!
Toi: Haa, haa…! Don’t… l–leave me… behind…!
Ani-samaaaaa…!! Cough… Ani…-samaaa…!
Nagi: ……
Toi, hit my hand…
Toi: ……?
Nagi: Let me handle this.
Ryui: W–Who’re you?
Nagi: (I’m a bit confident in my running speed. And I came up the slope after him.)
Toi: (Nagi-san…!)
Nagi: Alright…!
*Nagi runs after Ryui*
Ryui: Tch…!
*A little while later*
Momiji / Kaede: Phew… My stitch has finally subsided… Yodaka-san, where’s Ryui-kun…?
Yodaka: Nagi took the baton from Toi and he’s catching up to him. There’s also one more person with enough energy leftover that’s right behind the other two.
Momiji / Kaede: D–Daniel-saaaaan…!
Tumblr media
Daniel: This slope is really tough…
Ryui: Ugh… argh…!
Nagi: Haa… haa…!
Ryui: (This guy… looks indifferent to everything but… he’s so persistent…!)
Nagi: (I’m… just walking but… it feels like my heart is going to explode…!)
(There’s only about… 50 centimetres or so left…!)
Wait…!
Ryui: Ugh…!
(He’s really going to catch up if I don’t take it out…!)
Nagi: !
Tumblr media
Daniel: Hey, that’s cheating!
Ryui: (There should be enough battery to get me down the slope!)
Later…!
Nagi: ……!
Ryui: (I won’t let ya catch me…!)
*Ryui speeds away*
Momiji / Kaede: Ahh! He had a hoverboard!?
Yodaka: He really did a number on us.
Toi: Ani…-sama…!
Ryui: (Sorry, Toi.)
Nagi: Haa, haa, ugh… Haa, haa…
(My finger just touched him but I couldn’t grab a hold of him.)
So that’s… Toi’s… family…
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ📍 Location: Hakodate – Mt. Hakodate Observation Deck
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Momiji / Kaede: This is…
(The night view from Mt. Hakodate’s observation deck that’s been included in the world’s best night views…)
(But everyone’s in low spirits and they aren’t paying any attention to it.)
Netaro: Ugh~ My knees hurt~
Yodaka: It’s not exactly right for me to say this, but you didn’t run that much, did you?
Netaro: Toi, Yodaka’s bullying me.
Toi: …Oh, mhm…
Momiji / Kaede: (Toi-kun looks pretty depressed after we couldn't catch Ryui-kun. What should I do to cheer him up…?)
Nagi: Sorry, I was so close to catching him. Next time, I’ll cling to him no matter what.
*Toi shakes his head*
Toi: No, chasing after him was more than enough. Thank you, Nagi-san.
Nagi: ……
Netaro: Yoda, look. There are all sorts of pebbles stuck in my palm after I fell. Isn’t this awful?
Yodaka: Yeah. You should make sure to wash them out when you’re in the bath at the hotel.
Daniel: Sitting in the sauna after exercising feels amazing, ya know~? I can’t wait ‘til we get to the hotel.
Netaro: Daa, can I also get muscley like you if I work out?
Daniel: D–Daa?
Nagi: That’s probably your nickname, Buchi-san.
Daniel: Pfft, I’ve never heard anyone call me Buchi-san, either. Well, I don’t mind whatever you call me.
Momiji / Kaede: Guys, look! The view looks beautiful at night. Let’s take a closer look at the front.
Netaro, Nagi, Toi & Yodaka: ……
Yodaka: It’s spectacular… The blue shade of the evening sky gets darker every time I blink, and the lights from the town appear to look even brighter.
Toi: It somehow makes me feel sad, as if someone is tugging at my heartstrings…
Netaro: Aha, so these lights are the result of human activity, huh.
Nagi: …It’s exactly as you say, Netaro.
Maybe those lights on that highway all lead to people’s homes. Maybe warm meals are being made at the places where those faraway lights are.
Momiji / Kaede: Yeah. All that ordinary happiness is what makes up this one whole view, huh…
Nagi: ……
(Right now, I’m looking down on all that happiness from a high place like the sky.)
(It’s so… far away.)
(Those lights look like stars – I don’t think I’ll ever be able to reach them.)
Daniel: …There are definitely lights out there who aren’t happy, though, ya know?
Momiji / Kaede: Thanks for ruining the mood.
Daniel: Is it really all that to just be happy? Living your life how you want is just as important.
The world ain't nice enough to grant all your wishes.
Yodaka: Heh. What a bitter way to put it. But I understand what you mean. Even if people aren’t always happy, they still find ways to enjoy life, one way or another.
Unlike the unknown future, memories will always gently smile down on you.
Toi: ……
…I’m sure you two can only say that because you’re content right now… As I thought, I can’t do anything without my brother.
Netaro: Why’s that?
Toi: Well, that’s because he’s my important family.
Netaro: Family, blood relatives, a small group of people who live together or a partner… Being acknowledged, loved and/or desired. All of those things mean entrusting your success and/or failures with others.
Everyone ends up alone when they die. I can’t seem to understand no matter how much I read or research the topic.
Toi: I–It’s good that there are people like that, but I… I’m sure even Ani-sama…!
Momiji / Kaede: Yeah. There’s so many people in the world but we’re all different.
Nagi: ……
Momiji / Kaede: Nagi-kun?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
??: “I’m home.”
“Welcome home.”
“Did you have a good day?”
“It was alright. Nothing good or bad happened.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Momiji / Kaede: Nagi-kun? Are you okay? You’re standing there in a daze.
Nagi: On second thought…
Family should be together, Toi.
Toi: ……! Nagi-san.
Nagi: I’d like to ask you something, Manager.
Momiji / Kaede: Hm?
Nagi: If Ryui comes back and if we can manage to convince him, I want to ask you to make him the second ward mayor for Ward 15.
Toi: Huh…?
Yodaka: That’s rather sudden.
Netaro: I’m on board! Having twin ward mayors sounds fun~
Daniel: Did you even look at him? There’s no way someone who ran away would wanna be a ward mayor.
Nagi: Sometimes humans do things that go against what they actually want to do. Surely – probably. So…
If you stubbornly connect the family ties that can’t be severed and put them back together, then he’ll come back, and Toi might be able to stay with his family.
Netaro: In other words, you’re being a busybody.
Yodaka: It’s fine. I wonder how many years it’s been since he’s taken a step into other people’s space.
Daniel: Well, it’s true that the Night Group has one less member compared to the others.
Momiji / Kaede: …Okay. If that’s what the leader, Nagi-kun, wants, then I’ll talk to Kafka about it.
Toi: Nagi-san…
Nagi: ……
(The night view looks really pretty. The breeze feels nice, too. I can also feel everyone around me – it gives me a peace of mind.)
Manager, I’m not fit to be a leader yet, but I, Nagi Hachinoya, will do my best.
Momiji / Kaede: ! Right. Me too.
