Born a mage to the powerful Trevelyan family of Ostwick, her arcane abilities presented themselves early. Not in any grand dramatic incident, but simply by nature of being surrounded by templars from an early age. It was her own sister that recognized the signs and reported them to their parents.

Ever the opportunist, Lord Andreas Trevelyan did not feel shame when he learned his daughter was a mage, but instead found a new corner of Ostwick society to dominate. Should his daughter became a Grand Enchanter, he could exert his influence over even the circle of Magi. So he sent her to the Ostwick circle to train. Though, given their standing in the Chantry, Nicolette was often permitted to return home for extended "visits" of up to months at a time.

Nicolette, quite honestly, preferred the quiet of the Circle to the intrigue of politics and courtly life. Yet, ever the obedient daughter yearning to please her father, she played her part and did it well. She was not so dazzling and witty as her older sisters, but she had a sweet sort of charm about her that made her well-liked within Ostwick society.

When the Circle dissolves, Nicolette runs straight to her parents' arms, seeking their guidance on how to proceed, as she always had.

As an Enchanter of the Ostwick Circle, Nicole still possessed some influence over the lingering mages, who chose her, among a few other Ostwick Enchanters, to attend the Divine's Conclave as representatives of their Circle. Her parents encouraged this, and she was accompanied by a retinue of former templars from among the Trevelyan clan. Almost all of these escorts died in the explosion, including her older brother Maxwell and a close cousin.

She survives, is made Herald - you know the broad strokes of that.

She leans into the "Herald" title as a comfort to herself. Andraste chose her for this - trust in the Maker, there is a plan, you will live. Desperate sorts of thoughts.

She allies with the Templars, still under the influence of her parents.

She doesn't truly shake her parents' influence until they reach Skyhold and she comes into her own, farther away from her family than she's ever been, and she discovers who she is and what she wants without them telling her.

She forces Celene, Briala, and Gaspard to work together, recruits the Grey Wardens, respects Mythal's temple, persuades Calpurnia to abandon Corypheus, and lets Morrigan drink from the Well of Sorrows.

Do any of your ships have kids in the future? Except the ones you've written about already?

I'm going to assume you are specifying my Dragon Age ships? So I'll just include the ones that are from Dragon Age. If you meant any of my other ships from other fandoms, I'll gladly talk about them too. Aside from the obvious which are the ones who canonically have kids in my universes already.

Elaina Cousland/Nathaniel Howe - Rosalind "Rosie" Howe Max Amell/Morrigan - Kieran Amell Alissa Trevelyan/Garrett Hawke - Zephyr Hawke and Leah Hawke Roisin Lavellan - Finn Aldwir (not with Solas, but she does have a kid so she counts) Odette Ingellvar/Emmrich Volkarin - Isaac Volkarin

Briar Amell/Leliana - that one is a no, they do not have nor adopt any kids Briar Amell/Cullen Rutherford - also a no, Briar doesn't want to have any children given who she is

Salem Hawke/Fenris - they do not have kids at the end of DA2. By Veilguard they have a son.

Genevieve Trevelyan/Cullen Rutherford - yes they have 2 children. McKenna and Gawain (girl and boy) Adelaide Trevelyan/Iron Bull - do the Chargers count as kids? Cause that would be their children. No to biological offspring though. Niyra Cadash/Varric Tethras - the answer is obvious for this one... Moving on Bronwen Lavellan/Josephine Montilyet - no but Bronwen does have a daughter from a previous relationship. His daughter Nadiya and Yvette become close friends.

Finn Aldwir/Bellara Lutare - Absolutely they have kids. Roisin wanted grandbabies. XD In my canon, they have 4 kids total. 3 boys and 1 girl. Ashia Laidir/Taash - oh no, absolutely not. Ashia wouldn't be opposed if Taash wanted to have kids, but she is absolutely not going to be pregnant. She also can't really picture herself as motherly or anything of the like. In the Rookery AU, she is the bestest auntie in the world and spoils the kids rotten. Senna Thorn/Davrin - also of the childless lifestyle. Mostly because they have Assan and Stormwing as their kids. Do I like to imagine they have a kid? Yes, I love the happily ever after family trope. But in my canon storyline for them, they do not have kids. Jacek Thorn/Lace Harding - they adopt later on. An elven girl and a dwarven boy. Vat'Asala/Neve Gallus - maybe way down the line they'll talk about it. I haven't quite decided for these two because I think Asala would make a great parent. They're incredibly patient and warm and has a lot of love to give. Absolutely would be the one to fall for the pleading eyes though. Godspeed Neve if you two adopt. Mariposa de Riva/Lucanis Dellamorte - yes they do have kids. Twin boys later on who inherit Mariposa's magical talent

Cara Valisti/Illario Dellamorte - no. Cara can't have kids (and if you read Darkside you'll find out why in part 4 that will be posted next week)

The youngest of six children of the ambitious head of the Trevelyan family in Ostwick. She was never set to inherit much of anything, and it was largely expected she would either join the Templars or take the cloth, as her older siblings had done.

Her father is not a particularly kind man, there are moments where it seems he loves his children (always fondly calling her Colette, taking an interest in the progression of her studies, etc.) his ambition always came first. Ambition for his own glory, for the good of the family. His children were more pawns for his own schemes than anything else.

Her mother wasn't much better, coming from Orlesian nobility with ties to the Chantry, she expected nothing short of perfection from her children. While she had high expectations that all of her children fell just short of, she was especially critical of her youngest child. Mild mannered, shy Nicolette keeping to the fringes of society, not seeming to fit in anywhere with her family's plans.

When she doesn't seem to fit the cloistered life of either the Templars or the Chantry Sisters, it is decided she will be put to use through an advantageous marriage.

She is betrothed three times throughout her life, all without her input and only ever meeting one of her prospective husbands. First to a member of the noble Nevarran Forsythia family, then when her father found a more advantageous match in a wealthy family from Starkhaven, then most recently breaking off that engagement to betroth her to a family with connections to an Antivan Merchant Prince.

Ever dutiful, Nicolette never complained about her fate, though she had little interest in marrying a complete stranger, she knew her protests would be futile and would only result in her parents' wrath.

She is a very good shot, a keen huntress who prefers the embrace of nature over the farce of court life or the restrictive life of a chantry sister or templar.

Officially her family remains neutral in the mage-templar conflict, claiming to be on the side of the Chantry rather. But privately they supported the plight of the Templars, supplying the Templar deserters with gold and swords.

She is sent with her uncle, former Knight-Commander of the Ostwick circle, her cousins (children of two different uncles) one a templar another a Chantry cleric, and her paternal Aunt, a revered mother. She is sent mostly to prove her worth as a representative of the main branch of the family. There she reunites with her sister Eveline, a mage of the Ostwick tower, who had claimed neutral in the conflict.

All of these family members, including her sister, are killed in the explosion at the Conclave. Considering how deeply rooted her family's connection was to the Chantry and Templar order specifically, she knew many others who perished in the blast.

She is very much puppeted by her parents at first, acting to do what she thought they would approve of. Fighting to earn their approval even then.

After Haven she begins to grow her own backbone and break free of her parents' influence. Choosing what she wants and what she believes in.

Cullen Week - Ever After

Pairing: Cullen x Trevelyan Word Count: 592

“You can come in now,” the twins sang from inside the house, having essentially kicked him out after breakfast that morning.

“Finally,” Cullen muttered to himself, dusting off his trousers before heading inside.

“We’re in the kitchen!” Odette shouted excitedly as she heard his footsteps in the hallway.

“What in the Maker’s name are you all up to in here?” Cullen asked as he pushed open the kitchen door, his eyes landing first on the vision that was his wife. 

The years had been extremely kind to her, not a day went by that he didn’t find her more beautiful than the last. He could have so easily gotten lost in the vibrant green of her eyes, or the white of her perfect smile had it not been for the children.

Cullen snorted as he took them both in; his son covered in flower and his daughter in paint.

“Clearly, you’ve been baking,” he concluded of his son before turning his attention to his daughter, “but what have you been doing?”

“Look behind you.” Odette grinned, pointing a finger above his head.

He turned and lifted his gaze to a large banner hanging above the window that read Happy anniversary in large loopy letters, the I doted with a little heart.

Cullen's eyes darted to his wife, horror-stricken that he'd somehow managed to forget their anniversary... but she was still smiling.

Definitely not their anniversary, then.

“I’m not sure I understand what this -”

Edmund chose that particular moment to unveil his elaborately decorated cake, it’s fondant message of 10 years giving him his next clue.

“Ten years?” Cullen asked, “Ten years since -” And that was when it hit him. “Maker, has it really been that long?”

“Yep!” Odette and Edmund answered in unison, as they so often did.

"As of today, you have been free from the shackles of that truly dreadful stuff for ten whole years," his daughter spoke proudly, in a voice much wiser than her few short years.

Cullen struggled to swallow the sudden lump in his throat, eyes brimming with tears as he fought to stop his lip from trembling. How long had his family been planning this for him? 

“Beasties, why don’t you go pick some nice flowers from the garden for the table?” Olivia helpfully distracted the pair, giving Cullen some much needed time to compose himself.

"Congratulations, love." She kissed him on his cheek. "I'm so proud of you."

He pulled her close, resting his forehead against hers. "I couldn't have done it without you."

"You would have,” she countered affectionately, taking his face in both hands as she pressed her lips to his.

"Ugh, they're kissing again," Edmund complained, his sense of timing forever impeccable.

"Well, I think it's romantic," Odette argued, flashing them both a quick smile before dropping her wildflower haul into an empty vase. 

“What are you thinking?” his wife quietly asked as they watched their beloved children play.

“You’ll call me a girl,” Cullen only half-joked.

Olivia snorted. “Haven’t done that in a while.”

“I was thinking,” he eventually continued, “that I’ve never been happier to be proven wrong.”

“What were you wrong about?” she asked, lacing her delicate fingers between his much larger ones.

“I wrongly assumed that happy ever after was only true in fairytales.” 

Olivia snaked her arms around his waist, pressing her cheek to his chest as she held him tightly.

He wrapped his arms around her, kissed the top of her head and pretended not to hear the whispered “such a girl” that predictably followed.
