It's... gotta be the Dante/Cassandra kiss in Memento Vivere. It's gotta be. It's changed so little from the first draft because I adore it so fucking much.

“Her body is still spasming,” Prince Dante snapped, then smashed his lips to hers. There was something ugly about the kiss. Aidan himself liked to have pretty, gentle kisses, from women hopelessly enamoured with him or disgustingly rich and being seduced by him. They were either showstopping, for a crowd, or they were for his enjoyment, his delight, and they’d always been recreational. Secondary to his goal of consuming as much power as possible. This was nothing like that. Prince Dante was hungry, and twenty-three, and so much older than Cassandra that he’d be shamed forever if this footage got out, and if his kiss with that Italian official had been for the papers, then this was for no one but himself. His hair was still long enough to fall about his chin, and he might still look like a woman, but Cassandra looked like a girl, caught in Prince Dante’s arms, trapped by this ugly, awful kiss. She shoved him away. “Cass—” “Don’t apologise,” she said. “I’m sorry.” And Aidan realised before Prince Dante did what had gone wrong. Who had been wrong. Jordan Walsh was dead, and the door was not open.

Two more characters from our WIP, A Small Lantern Still Gives Light! We LOVE this artwork by Chase Currah.

Gao Xiao Bi is Gao Zhong Hu's niece, only daughter of his now deceased brother. She joined the new rebellion in hopes of finding her uncle. She is quick to react and judge, but very fierce in her loyalty. She is tenacious when she has a goal in mind, and puts her whole focus on what she wants. She also desperately craves belonging, as her stepfather and his family generally shunned her for her connection to Gao Zhong Hu, as he was a prominent guard who fought against the current emperor during the coup.

Zhang Ke Yuan is the youngest Zhang sibling and a decent cultivator. He prefers to study on his own and analyze a situation before acting, which doesn't always go over well with others. He can come across as distant and avoidant, but is resolute once he has made up his mind about something. He is honest when he has something to say, but this happens infrequently. He consequently has trouble making friends, but is close with his sister and her friend Ying Ti, as they are all outcasts in the cultivation sect they had to join. He starts to gain confidence once a family friend starts training him.

And now, without ANY dialogue, get ready for a gutwrenching scene where Ali and Noah are fighting. I’m putting it underneath the cut because there is a ⚠️ trigger warning for domestic violence. ⚠️ Use discretion.

In one last act of desperation, Noah started to scream. He screamed in pain, anger, sorrow, stress. He screamed a guttural scream that instinctively made Ali flinch and his gut turn. The djinn slapped a hand to Noah’s mouth to muffle the agony as Cauldwell tried pulling his head away, only briefly stopping his distressed cries to jolt out of Ali’s attempt to silence him. And in another attempt to stop the visceral screams, the genie wrapped his arms tightly around his master, and held Noah’s head to the frantic pulse in Ali’s neck.

In his fight or flight, Noah beat closed fists on Ali’s shoulder blades. Frustration, desperation, culminating sorrow bubbled out of his chest as he wailed into Ali’s neck, and onto Ali’s back. Cauldwell’s attempts at kicking were stopped by the genie’s knees pinning his legs down, and in the heat of the struggle Noah’s lenses slid off his face and clattered on the floor….the left lens cracking and the right one remaining whole.

Ali grit his teeth and bore the strikes, yet refused to let go. He held the back of Noah’s head, the face to his nape, and weathered the flagellation. Weaker and weaker the strikes rained, but the tempest would not stop the flood from Noah’s olive eyes. Anger and frustration gave way to despair, until finally Cauldwell crumbled.

Furious, hot screams turned into icy cries and frigid tears. The furious fists flexed their fingers to tightly clench the back of Ali’s collar. Noah’s arms, once trying to push away, pulled around Ali’s neck to bring him closer. The anger stinging Ali’s corneas simmered away as his face softened, washing cold sadness over his somber face.

Ali and Noah naturally slid to sit on the cool vinyl floor as the genie kept his master locked to his chest. Resting at the foot of the couch, Ali let a silent prayer parse his lips, pressing the plump skin to the top of Noah’s head as his eyebrows furrowed in deep contemplation.

This is a story blog first, and a roleplay blog second. Interactions and art-chains with other OCs will be highly selective (usually reserved for close friends). I will not do verse crossovers (meaning if ever, I will only interact with other Cuphead blogs).

Mun and most characters on this blog are adults. However, there will be no explicit NSFW art present on this blog, and any attempts to incite it will result in an immediate block.

I do not shy away from topics like violence, drugs, alcohol, strong language, sexual and suggestive themes, or similar. Posts will be trigger tagged appropriately! However if this is still not for your tastes, please keep yourself safe and blacklist, unfollow, or block this blog. I understand completely and will not take it personally :)

Please send asks!! Character backstories are not public knowledge, and some characters will be more reserved with speaking about themselves. Strangers do not know them well.
