Just so you're aware, sansby is cannon to DFT!AU.

They're so silly guys. Anyways have this in depth relationship analysis ↓↓

Their relationship is mostly Grillby being warm, Sans trying and failing to be outwardly romantic without being "ironic" about it or making it into a joke, and the two of them having food together.

Sans is such a copout on like verbal affection or honest, real affection. Anything he can pass off as platonic while still knowing, cherishing, and feeling the real meaning behind it, is the perfect kind of affection.

Mutually contributed romantic gestures include: making each-other food, eating said food together, cuddling, laying together, Sans hanging around while Grillby cooks and handing him spices and ingredients just for an excuse to hang around him.

Hijinks include: flirting with Grillby in the most jokey way possible and almost dusting when Grilbs fires back something sincere and meaningful, Sans trying to be genuinely romantic back but it turns into him just rambling about something quantum physics type philosophical and Grillby occasionally interjecting with something utterly profound or nonsensical. Most of it is Sans struggling to admit what he wants, no jokes, no safety net(excuse his 1HP ass for wanting a safety net), and Grillby not exactly being able to rely on words to explain to Sans that it's okay if he wants to take the slow and steady route, and both of them torturing themselves over the communication struggle. Also Grillby loves him so much but Sans loves his naps and cuddling and Grillby loves walking around and doing productive things and it's hard for him to settle down and just cuddle sometimes, mostly during the day.

Sans affection: quality time, jokes, thoughtful gift giving (Grillby doesn't talk a lot, but Sans keeps an eye out for what catches his attention and anything he might mention)

Grillby affection: touch, food, words of affirmation. (Sans backs away from genuine complements and affirmation so hard, and it's hard for him to get the ideas across with how difficult talking is, but god damnit he wants to romance this idiot so bad)

Why do you ship Sans x Frisk? As a person who ships them myself, what do you see in them, like about them? Personality traits, situations, tropes etc, anything that comes to mind, what makes you enjoy them and continue to breathe life to them?

So sorry for the long wait, but I had to put a lot of thought into it. Here’s my response:

I was late to the Undertale game actually. Maybe a year later after Toby Fox released the game, not sure. Still, I remember how much my YouTube Page was filled with Undertale content. But I still had little interest cuz I was scared of Sans, mistaking him as a ghost whenever I saw his battle sprite on YouTube Thumbnails. (ya girl was fr scared of ghosts as kid 💀)

But eventually, the YouTube overlords won me over and stumbled on a Soriel comic compilation. It was then I found myself watching another Undertale comic that was more frans centric and BOOM, love at first sight. Literally.

So you can say it was beautiful and wholesome fan art of early Frans shippers that I stayed around since.

And there are so many layers as to why I love Frans so much. One reason being how I love the mystery behind both Sans and Frisk’s backstories and how one can experiment their dynamic within the game. And with the introduction of AUs, more exploration of other dynamics.

It was also this reason that allowed me create Frans AUs (mostly in my head) to understand the world and ideas better when I couldn’t in myself, in particular of the romantic type. To put it simply, Frans had grew to become my source of comfort and creativity.

So when I eventually left the community, questioning my maturity and the “morality” of Frans, I inadvertently found myself struggling with my identity. This was only made worse during the pandemic and all the hell that came with it, along with the sh*t I used to consume in the media.

Eventually, I did get help. Allowing myself to open up once again. Becoming more present with my loved ones so they can understand me better rather than drown deeper in meaningless escapes. However it was still a difficult road, ups and downs, trial and error as they say.

But I felt like I was becoming myself again and found the will to get back to my hobbies as I looked at old fandoms that I enjoyed as a kid. It was around then that I had a deep desire to check up on Frans, to walk down old memories.

True SoulDust

HOOO boi where to EVEN begin.

Hello. Hi. Allow me to introduce you to my most recent obsession. 😅😅😅

I'll TRY to keep this brief but I suck at doing that. This is True SoulDust. A SoulDust variant (For regular SoulDust's story for context, check out the novel on Tapas!). Here's the short version: In his AU, Frisk has died. She was captured by the Royal Guard and Sans could not make it in time to save her. In a fit of rage and grief, he absorbs her soul and unleashes hell upon the Underground.

Now having a merged human soul, he's an unstoppable force. He has a lot of kewl magic and now uses dual bone sickles attached by a chain to fight. The chain is made up of links that he molded himself from pieces of every Guardsmen's armor that he killed. The 2 golden links are from Undyne's armor and Asgor's crown, and the 1 silver link is from Papyrus' sword. He keeps a piece of Frisk's sweater sleeve tied at his belt and wears a small part of Papyrus' scarf around his neck. His cloak and armor have become so dusted that they're super dark and turning black.

He can still talk to Frisk. She appears as a ghost, sometimes in his head and sometimes manifesting as a spirit. She's really one of the main things that helps keep him calmer than his SoulDust counterpart. He's still totally insane, but he keeps it in check a lot better with the help of Frisk.

Uh...I've been really obsessing over this character, guys...I've already kinda started writing some little stories and lore for him in my discord server lolllll....[sweats]...he's just a lot of fun to write about...idk...if you have any questions about him I would be...MORE than happy to answer.

See, I understand what you're getting at and I could totally see a Yandere Frisk storyline, especially given how Frisk can be played in game (geno frisk). Listen I DID have an idea about Yandere Frisk that could totally work, but I didn't really want to tell that story because I wanted to write a story about the violence of objectification and misogyny and Sans just so happens to be my muse so he got stuck with the SK stamp. (But I'll tell you what, I liked the idea so much, I gave it to another secret character who may or may not look scarily similar to Frisk 😉)

Also, I'm going to be so so honest with you when I say that SK Sans isn't ACTUALLY a Yandere. I know I said "the Frans community is in a yandere phase right now and I plan to deliver" but I was being cheeky and simplistic. He does have "yandere" tendencies, but he doesn't actually love any of his targets. They're just play things to him!

BUT if you really want an SK Frisk, I'll point you in @cjhern1109's direction. They took inspiration from my SK Sans and made a serial killer Frisk.

All that being said though... I do stan a BITCHY Frisk. I loooove when Frisk is allowed to be kind of a cold, frigid bitch to the people who deserve it, even when her soul is good and kind. But yeah, Final Girl Frisk gets my love any and every day.

Mouthwashing x Undertale

ive had this idea for a bit and i wanted to get it on paper— does this count as an au?? can u guys tell i have a terrible obsession with these franchises i could talk sm abt it HERES ALL THE MAIN DETAILS

jimmy+curly: parallels to frisk and chara… player characters… actions and consequences… morally grey/complex character being influenced by an evildoer… being forced to watch the other commit terrible atrocities…

i actually considered assigning curly the soul of patience (bc how do you deal with jimmy everyday smh /lh) but i didnt think the props matched (curly in a tutu…) and then my brain made the frisk-chara jimmy-curly connection

swansea: soul of justice!! he doesn’t make the best decisions and can be quite harsh but he does what he believes is right (SIGHH he shouldve been given the gun rather than the axe)

anya: soul of perseverance!! if she sets her mind on something, she always sees it through. she keeps going despite the odds (her continuing to try and pass her exams despite failing 9 times, keeping curly alive post crash, etc.)

daisuke: soul of kindness!! THE IDEA THAT STARTED IT ALL!!! obviously he’s very empathetic, cares for everyone on the ship, sees the good in everyone, and tries his best (DAISUKE THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU DAISUKE)

i tried incorporating the items into everyone’s design, but also had some mouthwashing details shine through (e.g. daisuke’s apron having hibiscus flowers, anya’s book being about nursing, curly having his cowboy boots…)

AND HRGRGRG THE LINE “*You feel your sins crawling on your back.” IT FITS SO WELL??? SHOWS UP DURING THE SANS FIGHT (after practically murdering everyone in the underground) AND IT (somewhat) MIRRORS JIMMY BEING FORCED TO CONFRONT THE CONSEQUENCES OF HIS ACTIONS AFTER BASICALLY CAUSING THE DEATH OF EVERYONE ELSE— (guys am i cooking)

Rate UT characters on likely they are to eat spoiled food

premise: as monster food does not spoil, this speculation is based on how i think they'd treat human food in the post pacifist ending

frisk. trash burger. enough said. (also i hc that they grew up on the streets, so... not a lot of chances to be picky with your food.)

sans. second most likely. there's milk in the fridge bought specifically for him to drink out of the carton whenever frisk's or papyrus' friends come to visit, like a stereotypical disney channel older brother (he loves being annoying on purpose). it's been there for a month. he's still not done with it. it's probably rancid. enjoyer of food and lover of even shittier food. mr worst burger on the menu. he is ESPECIALLY gross about food and he is gross about it on purpose, he will peel an apple for papyrus and then take a bite out of it before cutting him a slice. and then call him a wuss when he acts disgusted. ("stop being a baby bones, we have the same germs anyway" "NO WE DON'T. *YOU* HAVE GERMS! AND I DON'T WANT ANY OF THEM!!" "why? they're pedigreed" "OUGH!?!!"). he mostly uses it as a chance to make a gag (or a lack of gagging, lol) but his strong stomach did also come in handy in the early days of papyrus' interest in cooking

mettaton, of sequins-and-glue hamburgers fame. he's technically tied for 2nd place with sans, but i put him in third because i feel like sans does it on purpose, for mettaton it's more like... a side effect of starting life off as a ghost. few people question it since he's a robot now.

alphys. she doesn't go out of her way to do it, but she buys her snacks in industrial pallet-fuls to reduce social interactions to a minimum, so by the time she reaches the last 3 or 4 packets of blue takis, they're well past their expiration date. not that it stops her. now, this wouldn't happen on the surface because she gets better and has a solid support system, but if monster food could spoil back when she was going Through it with the amalgamates, i feel like she'd either be too depressed or tired to care and eat it, or she'd tumble into a "g-god. you can't even take care of your own f-food. is there anything you can't fuck up" self-deprecation spiral and lose her appetite altogether

flowey. did it to see what would happen. nothing did. never did it again. tbh I just don't think he eats much of anything, spoiled or not.

undyne. getting into the "wouldn't eat spoiled food" tier. she actually thinks it's really gross but papyrus tricks her into doing it by challenging her machismo. she gets SO sick from it. they do this aprox 3 times a month. rinse and repeat

asgore. he's a gardener, and i can see him working in a community garden on the surface, so he'd have access to a lot of fresh produce, for both himself and to give away. however, if some of it were to go bad, he'd probably cut off the affected bit and eat the rest so it doesn't go to waste.

toriel. she is SUPER careful about expiration dates and mold and checks to make sure all she owns is still safe to eat almost weekly. this level of care, however, is mostly meant for other people, not herself, but she would really rather not eat anything that's gone bad. same reasoning as alphys', IF monster food could spoil when she was still in the RUINs, i could technically see her biting the bullet, if only because 1) she was also heavily depressed and struggling to take care of herself, though i think she might sooner skip out on the meal altogether, rather than eat something spoiled, and 2) the awkward stares from the other monsters in the RUINs supermarket might not be something she's willing to deal with on any given day.

papyrus. he would NOT. no way. master of cleaning, germophobe extraordinaire papyrus (well, not really, but he plays the part). if toriel is meticulous, papyrus is obsessive. there better not be a SINGLE spot on his food. and no lines or plaid patterns either!! he WILL wash it untill it goes away. with soap probably. canonically a picky eater to begin with (his picks are just weird as balls). can should and WILL get on sans' ass about his unhealthy eating habits, and that includes eating food that's gone bad.
