Me when I obsess over obscure media be like.

First I say that it's cool, then I look for fanart, next I want to see if this obscure media has any merch, then compare them to other media for meme only a few people will get.

I like that the media that I like has a weird pattern to it.

Has a main character that is isekai'd into a weird world, or just exists in it but is normal, has weird eyes in it, has a nice art style, and has some lore in it while obscure or popular.

Bonus points if the media I like has merch.

It's like holding proof that this existed even if the media gets erased like cookie's bustle.

Also the soundtrack has to be really good, weird, and ambient music.

Bonus points if the some songs sounds close to another song that feels like Silvagunner made it.

I mean I get what you're saying but actually I think that Jackboot Jump has fewer streams that all of Hozier's other tracks at least partially because it's a live recording that was released as a single unrelated to any of his albums and was not promoted the same as other singles due to its nature form & content. And other such things like that.

Humpty Dumpty

Real Name: Humphry Dumpler

A resident of Arkham Asylum that obsessivly takes things apart & put them back together again, althogh mosstly not very well, which is not a problem until it bcomes things like trains, the Clocktower or people. He also always talks in a way that referances clasical rhymes, an example of this can be seen in Issue 3 of 'Arkham Asylum: Living Hell' when he is talking to Dr. Arkham, he says 'Ooh. Snips and Snails and Puppy dog tails. Is this all for me Dr. Arkham?'

He is also insanely unlucky with a series of tradgies following him through out his life before he ended up in Arkham, him missing a train finally caused him to snap, after which he took apart the train he missed and put it back together again, causing it to crash.

He was finaly caught by Batgirl (Barbra Gordan) due to him forgetting to return the books to the libary. After which it is revealed that he killed his abusive Grandmother because he thought there was something wrong with her, for her to treat him that way, and tried to put her back together again.

There is a new moon this Halloween which also makes Kali Puja fall on Halloween this year 🌚 Kali Puja is typically honored on the new moon in the Hindu month of Kartik, in October or November of the Gregorian calendar. It’s a fabulous synchronicity. Last year Skunky played a solo set on Kali Puja in November and wore my Kali design as well as hung the big tapestry of Her behind him ❤️‍🔥 Jai Kali Ma!

Kali is associated with the new moon which is the moon phase also highly associated with menstruation which is in part why the Kali vulva goddess vision came to me bleeding.

It is unpopularly theorized that the word “calendar” itself has its etymological root in Kali reverence by the Romani people who were found throughout the ancient Roman empire. The word for calendar shares the root sound “kal�� throughout over a dozen European languages until this day. According to formal acedemically recognized etymology “calendar” comes from Old French calendier, from Latin calendarium (account book), from kalendae (the first day of the month), perhaps from calo (to announce solemnly, to call out (the sighting of the new moon). 🌚 Those who know of the ancient tradition of monthly Romani rituals which called aloud to Kali every new moon (associated with Her blood flow) theorize along with these definitions that Kali is where we get “calendar” in a kind of ancient cultural appropriation.

All European language etymology studies tend to lead back to Latin even in instances professed to be only a vague theory, further obscuring from history countless native languages of the “barbarians” conquered by ancient Roman colonization. The history of how subsequent European cultures since Romanization have oppressed Romani peoples as “Gypsies” up to today is inherited from Roman culture. Why wouldn’t these systems actively repress the truth of any such influences? So with that in mind I think why not Kalinder?

PS! ”rom” is a Romani word for “man” and so the similarities of Roman and Romani are not etymologically linked as some have assumed, mistakenly believing that Romani means “from Rome” in the way that the derogatory term Gypsy meant “from Egypt”. The Romani have their roots in India.

literally i could be on my deathbed and i would roll over and start typing at the very mention of lynn/perez/amanda. they are my faves i have so many thoughts about them.. i’ve started to explore their dynamic a little bit in the longfic i’m working on, and as a result, every time i try to write something shorter for any iteration of the ship, my ot3 headcanons sneak in. i LOVE them SO much… and it’s all ao3 user doztoevsky’s fault for changing my brain chemistry forever

my favourite thing abt amanda becoming the new mastermind and ascending to john’s level (like kind of what she talks about wanting in her dbd lore) is toxic lesbianism taken to a brand new level. my second favourite thing is that i think all the potential new apprentices would have their own reasons for wanting to join her after their tests. for example, lindsey taking down hoffman to avenge strahm; which makes me QUITE sad but it’s also very sexy. refer to @lastnightonthecyclone’s tags here. or another example could be gabriela, who fits the bill perfectly.. i’ve thought about adding a second part to my gabriela/amanda fic because i love the idea of gabi surviving after cecilia and being a litttleeeee bit lost in the world. but with both of these examples, i enjoy that it wouldn’t be an easy sell; they both have plenty to hate amanda(/john) for, especially perez since her test wasn’t fair! the amanda young special ;) and there’s nothing hotter than begrudgingly coming around on someone you hate only to realize they’ve had deep complicated feelings for you since day 1 lol

as for lynn i think any aus where lawrence recruited her would be so fun and also so powerfully nauseating like POOR AMANDA!!! i can’t get behind the found family/jigsquad shit everyone jokes about (because they are so deeply and completely cringe and inaccurate and also i cannot be normal about saw, as evidenced in this ask) but i do absolutely love the idea of lynn and amanda having to work together AGAIN, this time because lawrence brings them onto the same case. johns last wish part 3948395, or whatever.

i also am a huge sucker for the interconnectedness of the universe, which works great for this stupid telenovela of a franchise where Everyone Is Connected it’s fine don’t worry about it or think too hard. except i love thinking too hard. like it is so interesting to me that all these characters are So connected, even the ones that never met. lindsey’s friend and partner killed lynn’s husband. lynn’s husband killed amanda. amanda killed perez (well. sort of). and amanda tipped off lynn’s daughter about hoffman which (presumably) helped perez realize what was happening, but eventually led him right to her and so once more amanda killed perez. they interact vicariously so much and so often, because it’s a small world populated by important Suspect characters, and i only wish that we had gotten to see them actually interact. sorry that paragraph got away from me completely. wait holy fuck this ask got so long i’m so so so sorry

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! What inspired your world? A culture that we have here, a type of planet or mythical location, or maybe a novel?

I draw inspiration from a lot of different sources for the settings for my WIPs. So much I probably did some of it subconsciously and can't tell you where a particular concept came from, or I just forgot.

Trials of the Six's world, Rymn, takes some heavy inspiration from Avatar: the Last Airbender, especially with the element and geography-based magic system. I was also at the beginning of my Death Gate Cycle and Dragonlance (by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman) obsession, and I drew a fair amount of character inspiration from both of those books. I think now it's evolved past its roots, but whenever I describe the world I usually default to comparing it to A:tla.

Somnia, where The Legend of Orian Goldeneye takes place, is a bit of a different story. The magic system was inspired by Tel'aran'rhiod in The Wheel of Time (by Robert Jordon), which is the name for a separate dream world and a subclass of the book's magic system. I took the main concept and made it into dreamshaping. The world sort of sprung up around that, in how non-dreamshapers dealt with life and whatnot. An abundance of black glass to keep dreamshapers out is one example.

Tales from Valaria started out as a D&D fic I wrote about my and my younger brother's characters just for funsies. I was reading Ranger's Apprentice (by John Flanagan) at the time and I drew inspiration from the rangers in crafting my character's backstory. I never finished the fic, but it later became the groundwork for what is now The Watcher and the Thief. The rangers became Watchers, and my D&D character became the villain :3. The Hunter, the Myth and the Cure takes place on the same world, so it uses the same magic system (inspired loosely by the Patryn Death Gate Cycle magic system), but it focuses more on werewolves and the subspecies (shapeshifters and a dragonborn-esque race), both of which take inspiration from D&D and my own twists.

Forsaken: The Doomed City wasn't intentionally inspired by Renegades (by Marissa Meyer), but it was kind of inspired by Renegades. It's basically morally gray superhero meets quarantine meets hero/villain whump meets the Hunger Games (by Suzanne Collins). The worldbuilding is the least developed out of all my WIPs because it takes place in one isolated city so idk what else to tell you.

This year, I’m hoping to get back into writing fanfiction. I’ve been extremely busy around the holidays with my job, but now things are back to normal. I’m excited to get back into it! And I’m excited to share the fic ideas I currently have for several fandoms, here they are!

•Grishaverse— Kaz not sleeping having something partly to do with nightmares has given me ideas. Not very nice ones. So basically just a whole fic with a tiny part of the waking world, but mostly a look into what Kaz’s mind conjures up for Jordie and the Crows.

•Grishaverse— A young girl was friends with two young farm boys. Something terrible happened to them, and she sets out to Ketterdam years later in hopes of finding answers.

•The Raven Cycle— What if Noah was present in Cabeswater at the end of The Raven Boys? A long-overdue confrontation between Noah and Whelk.

•Delirium Trilogy by Lauren Oliver— I hated the way Requiem ended, so I’m making my own ending <3
