A New Step || Torin & Loki

The thought of marriage had never been something that crossed Torin’s mind.  There was always too great of a risk to his life, or those of the lives he became close to.  He had kept the world at arm’s length for so long, but it was Loki that had slipped through the cracks in his façade, reaching his heart.  Torin could not deny the love they shared.  He could not deny how much he wanted to spend the rest of his long life with Loki by his side.

It was funny, in a way, how nervous Torin became at the prospect of proposing to Loki.  He wasn’t worried about the future, or the act of asking the question.  He had a momentary fear that he would not be able to make it as perfect as Loki deserved; or in some crazy stroke of fate, that Loki would say no.

Saoirse would be the one to talk him down from that nervous filled spiral, reminding him how happy he and Loki made each other.  She helped him pick out a ring, one perfect for Loki.  Torin had never been one for flashing jewelry, always preferring symbolism over sparkles.  He balanced that desire of his with his knowledge of Loki’s taste in fashion.  He settled on a gold band, with diamonds around a blue-green stone.  Loki deserved more than a basic engagement ring, and the one Torin chose a ring he could see Loki wearing no matter the form.  

Of course, Torin did not cook dinner.  While he had picked up a few things from watching Loki prepare meals, Torin was not about to risk burning down their flat on the day he wanted to be so special. Instead, he ordered out from one of their favorite take away places, setting up the dinner out on the balcony. Candles were lit, and music was on, playing softly in the background – one of the playlists Torin had made of songs Loki loved.

He knew Loki would be home soon, judging by the text that he received a quarter hour before.  Torin waited, running his fingers through his curls as he looked in the mirror.  It was when he heard the door open, and he turned to greet Loki.  “Welcome home, and I have a little surprise for you, so trust me, please?”

With the holidays approaching, Torin planned a getaway for himself and Loki.  It wasn’t far from Simon’s ranch in upstate New York -- a few hours drive, nothing too much.  They could escape the chaos of the city, spending time with each other, with their creativity.  All and all, it was a perfect holiday.  Both men could be outrageous at times, but under it all, they were simple souls.  They both loved time with each other.  That was what that Christmas was.  It was full of laughter, Loki’s cooking, and love.  So much love, and there was nothing wrong with that.

Torin feels very honored to meet anyone from Loki’s past.  He knows how private Loki is in that regard, so he takes it as another level of trust that the two men share.  It allows him to see this other side of Loki; which makes him fall even more in love with him, to be honest.

Torin admits to Loki that he has wanted children.  He knows that he can’t give Loki a child, but he does vow to love Loki’s children as his own.  Torin even considers the thought of adoption, even of a child with supernatural/magical abilities.  One that the men could save from having a lost childhood like they did.

One trip that Torin wants to take Loki on is to go back to Ireland.  It is a place that he has not been often since he left it, and it’s a place full of bad memories that he has yet to really deal with.  He knows that it will be an emotional trip, but it’s one that he trusts Loki to be there with him for.

Torin sighed, looking at the text on his phone.  Simon was in one of his moods again.  This happened every so often, but it didn’t lesson Torin’s worry.  “Simon is trying to push us all away again.”  His blue eyes looked up at Loki’s as a sigh fell from his lips.  “He and I have...we’ve had a lot of trouble in our past.  Been close...too close.  He...he took from me in the name of jealousy, but I can’t simply cut him out of my life, you know?”

The boys had grown up together, loved each other for longer than either admitted to openly.  Simon’s father had been horrible to him as a young boy.  None of them knew the secrets of their parents back then.  It was a price some of them were still paying.

“I think it’s because it’s around the time we were taken.  No matter how long it’s been, that’s a day that stands out in our minds, you know?”  Torin knew it sounded like he was rationalizing Simon’s tantrum, but the worry was clear in his voice.  “Is this what you feel like with Thor sometimes?  You can’t decide to love them or hit them?”

He looked back down at the phone, typing in a message, before tossing his phone to the side.  “I might go see him soon, check up on him.  He lives alone at the ranch, which he loves, but I wish he didn’t.  We hid off on our own for too damned long.  Nothing good comes of it.”  

Torin stretched out on the couch, laying his head in Loki’s lap.

HC || Loki’s Forms

This is a headcanon related to @storiesofwildfire and their Loki.  

Lei and Torin both have verses with Loki.  The two of them also have one joint verse with Loki.  They adore Loki.  Neither of them have any qualms about Loki’s forms.  They love Loki be it female, male, or somewhere in between.  Neither of them look at the exterior so much as the interior.  (Both Lei and Torin are demisexual on some level.)  They will also be some of the first to step up to defend Loki’s stance on gender and sexuality, and do not ever insult or speak ill of Loki’s kids.  Torin and Lei won’t stand for it.

Torin has had mostly male partners before Loki, while Lei has had the same.  Loki is one of their first female partners, which gives them both a lot of exploration of their own sexuality.  It’s never something they force, but they explore it when Loki is feeling it as well.

When you have control taken from you at a young age, itforever changes the way you view the concept. There is no going back to how it was before; especially, when you werebarely old enough to understand the concept to begin with.

It had been centuries since Torin had control stolen fromhim, and it was a wound that was still as open as ever.  Each person that cross his path had to navigatethe maze of defenses that he had set up around himself.  If they were patient and lucky, they reachedhis heart.  If they were special, theyfound the key to open the cage that held it.

Loki had been one of the few that understood the façade thatTorin kept up around himself.  Both had ahistory of having their control misused, their trust thrown away like the trashfrom the day.  They were both cautious,safe, but in time, they found a way in. They formed a bridge over their pasts to meet in the middle.  Love formed from that, a love that was seeminglyendless.

Another aspect Loki understood was control.  Both the need to maintain it, and thedesperation to never lose it.  That waswhy the truth they shared mattered the most. Trust that was given life by the small bits of themselves they revealedto each other.  Like the day Loki showedTorin his female form.

Torin remembered the nervous rhythm of Loki’s heart.  How her breath seemed to stop, locked in herthroat as she looked over Torin for some sort of response.  Loki knew Torin was open to relationships ofall types, but that most of his lovers had been male.  In that sense, Torin understood the nervousness.  He also knew Loki’s past, knew of the peoplethat only wanted one form over the other. To Torin, the woman before him still held the heart and soul he hadfallen for so deeply.  

“You’re more beautiful,” he whispered, grinning.  His fingers ran through the even longer ravenhair that fell over Loki’s shoulders.  “Idid not think you could be more beautiful, but you are, because you are beingyourself…what you feel in this moment.” That happiness and freedom shined outward from inside Loki, and allmemories of that night faded into a sea of kisses and intimate tangling ofbodies.

It was a day not unlike that first time he had seen herfemale form.  The only difference wasthat Torin had been through hell that day. He didn’t have bad days as much anymore, but you couldn’t always keepthe memories at bay.  Some small,insignificant thing would bring back a torrent of discontent that he had neverwanted to see again.

Of course, Loki knew the moment Torin walked in their flat,walking towards him with soften, concerned eyes finding his.  She had her hair down, which is what Torinfocused on until the soft, smooth touch of her hand was felt against hisface.  That was when Torin snapped backto the present, smiling at her.  Gently,he cupped her cheeks, bringing her lips to his. The embrace that he laid upon her was passionate, loving, but it wouldbe the words that left his lips that spoke the truth behind it.  

“I don’t want to think. Make me not think.”  It was a softplea to his love, to one of the few people that understood everything.  Torin did not want control that night.  No matter what their plans were.  He wanted to simply be in the trusted arms ofthe person he loved the most.

Blessed Yule, Loki!

Torin had thought long and hard about what to get Loki.  He wanted to do something special, not simply -- go buy something off the shelf.  That was when the vampire got the idea to write Loki a song.  It was one that could be played on piano or guitar.  Torin had worked out the music for both instruments, as well as for them to be played together.  He had eased out of bed early that morning, leaving a note for Loki to find.

My love,

Thank you for being there.  I know those words are simple to write and say, but you know the depth of meaning they carry for me.  I have your present, but it requires the piano, so when you awake, I will give it to you.  There is also breakfast waiting.  Do not fear -- I haven’t cooked.  I did, however, order out from our favorite brunch spot so that you could enjoy the morning.  I thought we could also go see a show this weekend.  Something new -- be it musical, Broadway -- anything.
