Oppo to release Android 10-based ColorOS 7 for its smartphones from June

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced the roadmap for its Android 10 operating system-based ColorOS7 for India. The custom operating system was released to select Oppo smartphones earlier this year. Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi Reveal Availability Details of Cross-Brand P2P Wireless File Transfer Feature

Xiaomi joined hands with Oppo and Vivo last year to create a “Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance”, a one-click cross-brand P2P wireless file transfer system. Today, all three companies announced that they are taking the Wi-Fi based file transfer feature global, and have also announced details regarding its availability and phone compatibility. The peer-to-peer seamless file transfer feature is now live on a bunch of Oppo and Xiaomi smartphones in India and a host of other countries. On the other hand, Vivo smartphones will land support for the P2P file transfer feature next month.

The P2P (Peer to Peer) technology for the data transfer between Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo phones does not require internet connectivity and relies on Bluetooth for fast pairing to transfer files at an average speed of 20Mb/s. Regarding the availability, Xiaomi says that the P2P file transfer feature will be available on all phones running Android Pie or a new version. However, it won’t be available on Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 7A, Redmi 7, Redmi S2, Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, Redmi Note 8, and Redmi Note 8T. The file transfer feature is called Mi Share on Xiaomi phones.

As for Oppo, all phones running Android 10-based ColorOS 7 or a later version will support the feature. As of now, Oppo’s Reno 2, Reno 10X Zoom, F11 Pro, F11 Pro Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition, and the Oppo F11 are the phones that run a trial version of ColorOS 7. The P2P wireless file transfer feature is available under the Oppo Share name in the quick settings menu. However, Oppo has promised to expand the availability of Oppo Share file transfer feature to more phones in the Find series, Reno series, R series, F series, A series, and the Oppo K3 over the course of upcoming months.

Vivo, on the other hand, says that the P2P wireless file transfer feature will arrive on its phones starting next month. We tried sharing files between the Redmi K20 (using Mi Share) and the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom  (over Oppo Share) via the P2P file sharing feature, and it worked seamlessly. The one-tap approach is quite convenient, and its availability in the quick settings menu on both the phones removes the hassle of looking for it in the Settings menu or elsewhere. The two devices are discovered via Bluetooth (BLE standard), while files are transferred via Wi-Fi Direct.

En cuanto a especificaciones técnicas, en el Oppo F11 Pro Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition podemos encontrar cámara frontal “pop-up”, por lo que la pantalla se usa en todo el frontal del terminal, tiene un procesador MediaTek P70, 6 GB de RAM, 128 GB de almacenamiento y batería de 4000 mAh. En si estamos frente al mismo Oppo F11 Pro que ya todos conocían pero con una linea de diseño que lo transforma por completo en un objeto a desear por parte de todos los que siguieron y sufrieron con la ultima película de Marvel. El desafío no era menor para Oppo y hay que asumir que los colores elegidos y los acabados del terminal son un lujo, que si lo sumamos a su carcaza que lleva una especie de “pop socket” con forma del escudo del Capitan América, pues todo cierra con un producto que esperamos algunas día llegue por estos lados, algo que es bastante complicado por la estrategia comercial de Oppo que mantiene sus productos casi de manera exclusiva para China, aunque no sería mala idea darse una vuelta por las tiendas webs que muy posiblemente pongan a la venta algunas unidades de esta edición, con precios que obviamente superarán ampliamente los USD$ 400 que cuesta este smartphone en el mercado de China.

Oppo Opens Registrations for Oppo F11, Oppo F11 Pro Android 10-Based ColorOS 7 Trial Version: All Details

Oppo has announced Android 10-based ColorOS 7 trial version for Oppo F11, Oppo F11 Pro, and Oppo F11 Pro Marvel’s Avengers Limited Edition. To enrol for the trial version, users will have to first opt-in to beta testing, and then download the latest ColorOS 7 trial version on their phone. The rollout will happen for a select number of users, and once the application quota is filled, Oppo will shut the opt-in process. The company says that it will bring more opportunities to opt-in for the trial version in the future.

The ColorOS official global account tweeted the first batch rollout announcement of ColorOS 7 trial version for the Oppo F11, Oppo F11 Pro, and Oppo F11 Pro Avengers Limited Edition. Interested Oppo smartphone owners must be on the latest software version in order to be eligible to apply for trial version. Ensure all pending software updates are installed before beginning the process of filling the application form. Once done, head to Settings > Software Updates. You will see a settings icon on the top right corner of the screen. Tap on the icon, tap on ‘Trial Version‘ and an application form should show up. Fill in the necessary details and hit Apply Now. A message confirming successful application should show up. Tap on ‘Done‘ and head to ‘Software Updates‘ section to look for a new update. You can then click on ‘Download Now‘ to start installing the trial version. If you wish to cancel the download of the trial version midway, there is an option to cancel as well.

On a ColorOS community post, Oppo warns that, “This trial version aims at functional testing and may be unstable, but user requirements can be basically met. You may encounter some bugs and are expected to report these bugs to us to help us solve these problems.”

The changelog of ColorOS 7 suggests that the update will bring a new Oppo Sans font, better design and UI, a smart sidebar feature for improved one-hand operation, optimised three-finger screenshot feature, new screenshot settings, navigation gestures 3.0, dark mode, focus mode, a pause button in screen recording, and new colour accessibility mode added to improve the user experience for visually impaired users. The update will also bring new live wallpapers, more screen-off clock styles, a new trim feature in recordings, and a new Soloop video editor as well.

To recall, ColorOS 7 was launched in India in November last year, and about 20 phone models are set to get the update.
