honestly, it's really interesting thinking about how the events of the desert dream in 1998 would get blown out of proportion in the coming years ; hell, it already kinda is twenty-four hours later. not only does the fbi get involved ( and they get involved quick ) but the entire thing is immediately labeled as 'the desert dream massacre' which is ... simply not true. if tyler doesn't kill joyce and michelle isn't shot then the total body count is four cops, with two on life support from the motel burning down. this is literally confirmed in game!

events get labeled as massacres if there's a huge body count, or if it's violent enough. the desert dream killings were neither. all the victims were shot, usually at a distance, or they suffered from burns ; which, while violent, it was more of an escape attempt on the holts' part than anything else. i also find it telling that, even if the holts kill a hostage or two, agent bradley doesn't bother mentioning that in private. all he cares about is the cops lost to the standoff. it's no surprise that killing an officer will get you a more severe punishment then if you kill a regular person, that it can sometimes send you straight to death row on its own, but the fact they don't even care about the deaths of any of the hostages ... it sure is something.

especially since the only hostage deaths in the desert dream can turn the only two kids in the game into orphans. or on the flip side, if the holts didn't harm a hostage, there's no mention of that either. or how the hostages were treated, which compared to usual hostage situations, they got it better than most. it's just the fact that they killed cops ( who were under the thumb of a corrupt sheriff, by the way ) that made this into a massacre. though i wouldn't be surprised if to the public the force would then heavily focus on any other victims, that's usually what happens normally, after all.

anyway, point is, classism does play a role in how cases and crimes are treated -- especially back then. the holts were poor, notoriously so, and they were a family full of drop-outs with nothing to their names. the very second they escape the motel, their names are plastered all over the country and their fates ( including jay's, who's merely an eighteen year old who was an accomplice at best ) are decided : they're going straight to death row. even if jay tries to do the right thing and come clean to agent bradley, tries to turn on his family, said guy immediately goes to pin all the murders on him, for seemingly no reason at all! it's very unjust, and ah ... shady!

the news and papers hype up their crime spree and i wouldn't be shocked that within a couple years, the holts would be presented as bloodthirsty rednecks who were simply greedy rather than a family that didn't have any help and got in way over their heads. the narrative would be twisted so much, especially if three of the holts were never found. there'd be no word from their side, no mention of the thugs who were threatening to kill them, just a true crime story where they were at the forefront of a very unfortunate situation and got away with it. leaving gossips to fill in the blanks as they please, and considering the police's and the fbi's behavior towards this case, they would only fuel the narrative that the holts were a family who did all this on purpose and relished in the aftermath, a family who loved doing the crime.

anyway, it's just something i love thinking about for post canon stuff when it comes to my adf muses. how wildly inaccurate the story's become in time, simply because people got bored or because of the classism back then that was so woven into the broadcasted crime that it's become impossible to separate the two. they'd paint the holts out to be wildly dangerous, cruel individuals and probably spin tales about unsolved murders and robberies and how it could be the work of a holt who had got away. their entire motivation would be obscured and would've gone unsaid, leaving random civilians and a force who hates them to speak for them instead. it'd be a whole thing! and the desert dream was dramatic, sure, but by the time everything is said and done you'd probably barely recognize what the media was talking about had you actually been there.

NORTON swears up and down he's done nothing worthy of him deserving you.

The way your thumb grazes his knuckles in a comforting manner--whether to soothe your own nerves or his is unsure-- but the expression of innocence coated on your face both makes his heart sink to his stomach and gives him butterflies.

You have the eyes of someone who has gazed at few possible traumatic scenarios and the skin of one who not been lashed by the harsh truths of the world. He squishes down his feeling of envy when he feels he's going too far down the rabbit hole of his thoughts.

But now, as he bandages up your wound from the cold Night Watch, he can't help but realize how that weighs you down. It wasn't supposed to be you with the gash in your thigh it was supposed to be the teammate you wasted no time saving. You took a hit for them, and for what? So they could have a futile 5 seconds to run as fast as they could only for the harsh winter wind to yank them back to the hunter? You we're such a fool, having so much faith in these people.

But that's what led you two to become such a power couple. You gave him a chance.

"Norton-"

"Hush up, doll." And you do just that.

He looks angry and you feel nervous because of it.

"I'm sorry for getting injured." You mumble quietly. You don't expect a 'Its fine' or a 'Its not your fault' because this was a rookie mistake and you by no means are a rookie.

He remains silent, finishing up dressing your wound. His gloved hands go to hold your thighs as you sit in some corner of burned down building in the Arms Factory.

"Don't do that again." He states. Its not up for debate and you silently nod, moving to give his forehead a kiss as you steady yourself to get up and work on getting out of here.

Fools Gold let out a teasing laugh as he shoved you into a chair. He leaned on the wall behind it as you glared up at him. Fools gold clicked his tongue (does he even have one??) and fake pouted, most likely mocking you.

Sfw Alphabet- Jago Sevetarion x F! Reader

Okay babes, here it is. As requested by the wonderful, beautiful, gorgeous @yanagikou, here is the sfw alphabet for Sevetar. I hope I did him justice. I did my due diligence in researching him, but he's not a character I'm very familiar with so. I did my best, but I apologise in advance if I've gotten anything supper wrong or ooc.

As usual, unedited, so sorry for any and all mistakes. Please enjoy and send thru any fic or hc requests cause I love doing them. They push me outside my comfort zone (like this one haha) and I love making content for others to enjoy :)

A - Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Jago Sevetarion adores you like literally nothing else in the galaxy... but he has no idea how to show it. Like, sure, the general, more explicit-type ways of showing affection such as kissing and nsfw stuff, he understands. But the subtle stuff? Stuff like casual intimacy, loving words and soft physical touches that do not immediately lead to sharing a bed? The poor man has no understanding of it. Considering his background, however, this isn't surprising. That being said, however, after having some time to follow your example and get comfortable and familiar with the idea of physical expressions of affection, I can see Jago picking it up in some small way. For one, it's to show you he cares. That he's willing to change a few of his ways for your sake. But more importantly, it's to remind his brothers that you're his. That he is always within hand's reach of you. So, for the love of the False Emperor, they'd better stay the hell away from you or he will make them wish they were dead.

Once he is more comfortable with the idea of expressing affection, I can see Jago being a fan of pet names. He strikes me as that sort of man. A few suggestions could be "little one", "little bird" or "little lady." Anything that emphasises your size difference and the fact that you are his.

B - Best friend (What are they like as a friend? How would the friendship start?)

So long as you showed yourself to be loyal to him and his cause, I reckon Jago would be actually be a pretty good friend. He's quite charismatic and loyalty is one of, if not his strongest value. He's not the kind of friend to offer you a shoulder to cry on, but so long as you'd do the same for him, he would absolutely ride or die for you.

C - Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

I'll be honest, even after he becomes familiar with physical affection, I struggle to see Jago being super into cuddling. To accept such physical comfort, to be that vulnerable with another living being, I think he would struggle to not see that as weakness. He might hold onto you in a more protective, possessive way, but don't expect anything particularly gentle or comforting from him in that regard.

D - Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Jago loves his life as a Night Lord. Delivering justice, executing punishment on those who deserve it (all according to him, of course), it's what he lives for. He truly believes in it. And he would want you to believe in it, too.

E - Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

I don't really think I need to elaborate on how Jago might break up with you if he doesn't like you- you can put two and two together. However, if Jago still loves you, and it's circumstance that's forcing you two apart, I see it being a... tumultuous affair. He's not familiar with compassion or gentleness- even if he feels those things, he doesn't know how to express them, be it with his body or his words. Therefore, Jago would break up with you by either being so cold it drives you to leave yourself, or by ravishing you with harsh words. It's not malice, however, that makes him do this. It's to protect himself and his own hearts. Maybe if he acts like this doesn't hurt him, it won't. But, of course, it still will.

Now, if you broke up with Jago... Jesus Christ, babes, you don't know what you've done. Only person worse to break up with would be Konrad Curze himself. Whether you want it or not, Jago is your furious, heart-broken stalker shadow. And unlike someone like Sanguinius, who even amidst his possessiveness would balk at the thought of it causing you distress, Jago doesn't have any such concern. He's yours, you're his. Damn you for forgetting it, and damn anyone who thinks they can change it.

F - Fiancé (How to they feel about commitment? How quickly would they want to get married?)

Jago would want to marry you right away. One, because loyalty is everything to him. And two, for your protection. If you're cornered by a Night Lord who doesn't know better, being able to name drop Jago Sevetarion as your husband is a pretty sure-fire way to get him to leave you alone.

G - Gentle (How gentle are they? Both physically and emotionally?)

I think some of my previous answers have answered this one pretty well already: to the Night Lords, gentleness is a foreign concept at best and actively despised at worst. Jago might learn how to be gentle from you, and he might partake consciously for your benefit, but it doesn't come naturally to him.

H - Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it and what is it like?)

Similar to cuddling. If Jago hugs you, it's because he's feeling possessive or protective of you. Now, that being said, if you were injured or in a particular state of distress, Jago would hug you in comfort. For as problematic as some of his behaviours may be, he still loves you. He adores you. He wants to keep you safe. And he wants you to know all of those things.

I - I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

A long, long time.

J - Jealous (How jealous do they get? What are they like when they're jealous?)

I might be a bit contrarion in this regard, but I don't see Jago being a jealous lover. Protective and possessive, absolutely, but not jealous. He's loyal, and if he's fallen in love with you, it's because he knows you're loyal too. And, as such, he trusts you absolutely. He also doesn't see any of his brothers as a potential 'threat'; he's the Primarch's favourite son, the best Night Lord there ever was: no one can compete with that.

K - Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Fierce, hungry and so passionate it brims on obsession. Your lips are getting bitten, your breath is getting stolen, and for good measure, he might bite a chunk out of your neck or shoulder, too.

L - Little Ones (How are they around children?)

Honestly, if The Long Night short story is anything to go by, Jago might just be the best with children a Night Lord could hope to be. In general, he would be indifferent to kids, but if it was a kid that was close to you (say, a little sister or brother, for example) or a child who has been the victim of sin, Jago would try to be compassionate. He'd be a lot better at it since meeting you, too.

M - Mornings (How are morning spent with them?)

Jago is absolutely waking you up with a ravishing of fierce kisses. Nothing further your honour.

N - Nights (How are nights spent with them?)

Jago suffers from psychic headaches and nightmares, so nights with him would be pretty unsettled to say the least. They would, however, provide ample opportunity for you two to bond on an emotional level. If anything, these nights might just be the thing that bonds Jago to you forever. After waking from a nightmare or from a terrible headache, Jago can't hide that vulnerability from you, no matter how hard he tries. And when you answer that vulnerability with compassion- massaging his scalp until the pain fades or curling up on his chest so he might hold you while he settles back to a state of sleep- that shit is gonna change Jago somewhere deep in his soul. In those moments, he's going to be human again.

O - Openess (When will they start revealing things about themselves? Do they reveal things slowly over time or all at once?)

Jago's life might be wraught with pain and suffering, but he doesn't seem particularly affected by it, if you catch my drift. Therefore, he'd be relatively comfortable opening up to you. It would be presented as anecdotes or entertaining stories rather than seeking comfort, however. I imagine he'd be deeply entertained by any of your shocked reactions to some of his stories, too.

P - Patience (How easily are they angered?)

For a Night Lord- for a space marine, even- Jago is pretty patient. He's far from saintly (obviously) but his temper is something you can work with.

Q - Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail or do they forget the minor things?)

Jago feigns that he doesn't care about such things, but in truth he remembers everything. You are the object of his adoration- he's committed everything single little thing about you to memory.

R - Remember (What's their favourite memory of the relationship?)

That first time he woke from a psychic night terror and you were there to comfort him. He'd never admit this, not even to himself. But that moment means everything to him. It's the moment he realised that he needed you- not as a serf, but something so much deeper. It's the moment he fell in love with you.

S - Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

I think I've answered this already. Jago knows how dangerous the Night Lords are to you, not to mention the galaxy as a whole. He protects you with unmatched ferocity and devotion. In spite of outward appearances, you're probably the safest person in the entire galaxy as Sevetar's wife.

T - Try (How much effort do they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts and everyday tasks?)

Much like R, Jago pretends he doesn't care about such things, but he does. And in his own, little ways, he shows it to you. It's sweet, really.

U - Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Possessiveness, overprotectiveness, borderline obsessiveness as well as a splash of astartes arrogance and night lords callousness.

V - Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Not at all. This man slaughters people daily. He's covered in scars. He doesn't care about his looks at all.

W - Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

He wouldn't know it at first, but absolutely he'd feel incomplete with you. If you were ever injured, captured or he almost lost you in some other way, the realisation would hit him like a bus. You could expect the protectiveness to get worse after that, too.

X - Xtra (A random head cannon for them)

If in some alternate timeline he was able to save Altani's life and take her with him, the three of you would become the most twisted but loving nuclear family. Jago would be a Night Lords girl dad, you'd be a big sis/aunt to Altani, and Altani would help further break down Jago's walls.

Y - Yuck (What are some things they wouldn't like in a partner, or in general?)

Disloyalty, someone who did not accept him for him (excluding the areas where you help him grow/change for the better, of course)

Z - Zzz (What are some sleeping habits of theirs?)

As mentioned back up in N, Jago struggles with sleep due to his psychic afflictions. Also as mentioned, your presence would help this greatly. I could even see him getting to the point where without you by his side, he couldn't sleep at all.

+ he's the kind to throw you in the freezing water because he'd find it funny how you're mad at him afterwards (but you never stay mad at him for a long time because look at that man. he is a slut. (in a pretty way) + he's also the kind of boyfriend to carry you on his shoulders to like. idk what's that's called but like he'd have on his shoulders and fight another person on another's shoulders. (you would lose bc you didn't stop moving)

ALL THE TIME from the moment the Eggman Empire VS The Resistance was revealed to be a thing I was like aww man why can't I join the Empire instead? I don't wanna fight him, everyone knows I'm the very last person who could ever "resist" Eggman in any sense of the word lol he's absolutely irresistible

The avatar isn't accurate to me at all for that so when I play with one based on myself, it feels so wrong. If I was dragged into the Resistance, I'd encounter Eggman and immediately want to jump in the Egg Mobile into his arms and say take me with yooou you deserve the world because you're so handsome and sexy fjsbgksbgksgks

I mean god LOOK at him

I know he's a terrible evil terrorizing tyrannical asshole doing all the wrong things and getting thousands of people killed and the world would be awful under his control but he's so GORGEOUS Idc. I'd immediately fold in this situation all morals would go out the window and I'd want him to get everything he wants lol 😍

It would've been fun if Eggman visibly directly interacted with the avatar on screen in the cutscenes so I could get good moments and screenshots of us together but instead he hardly acknowledges or even looks at the avatar most of the time, all his focus is on Sonic and co in scenes where they show up with him XD

But I can imagine if he had a direct one on one interaction in a scene, it would've been along the lines of the ones he has with you as the player in other games. So I mean it is very fitting that he barely acknowledged them in Forces, with his "umm who're you? :\ if you want my autograph wait until I epically win this tournament, now shoo"

I'm just an insignificant civilian 🤩 I'd go weak in the knees as he degrades and belittles me like this, so casually too because he's just that confident and firm in his superiority over me and that's so sexy. But I'll happily become a member of the Eggman Empire and actually become something more useful in serving him if he'll have me hehe

He's so rude and condescending, looking down on and degrading strangers because they're nothing compared to his greatness and unworthy of his superior presence! It perfectly captures his egotism, rudeness, arrogance, and feelings of superiority. He'd be a rude asshole to me like this and I'd be like ohhh he's so dreamy and swoon 🥰💘

And to remedy the scenes where the avatar in Forces is OOC for me when it's the one that I made to be myself, I sometimes imagine him as an uncover spy serving the Empire and reporting back secretly, then betraying The Resistance when the work is done heh Though the Eggman bodysuit and shoes I give to my avatar would already make that pretty obvious XD

Fr tho I don’t like Radioapple bc I don’t see alastor being in any kind of loving relationship. He’s just so clearly evil and manipulative. He’s only nice to Charlie bc it benefits him! This is not a man who would love someone or could. Not just bc he’s aro/ace either. It’s just his motives as a character.

And Lucifer (totally biased here) deserves to feel loved. He doesn’t deserve to be manipulated. He doesn’t need to face any more trauma. Lucifer just needs to heal. He needs to learn how to dream again. And I just cant see Alastor helping him with that.

She was an insane Ragna the Bloodedge and Sasuke Uchiha fangirl who got pissy that someone on twitter/reddit/youtube dare compare two characters she loves to a character she hates. She one day went on a tangent saying something like "Sasuke Uchiha deserves better than being compared to Jin!!! Sasuke risked his life to save Naruto's ass in the Land of Waves arc, Sasuke only killed like what 3 people (danzo, orochimaru and deidara are bad ppl anyways), and Sasuke loves his beloved Uchiha family and wants to avenge them. Jin is a selfish sociopath who wants to kill his entire bloodline because of 2 people and he showed no remorse for killing Jinpachi and millions of people!!! Jin doesn't give a shit about Hwoarang, he would let Hwoarang die like how he left Hwoarang to rot after Hwoarang risked his life to save him in Tekken 7!! Jin never suffered in life as much as Sasuke, Jin got to live a normal childhood with his mom for 15 years, got to live in some fancy rich ass mansion with his grandpa, and his mom was actually alive all along and came back anyways!! Sasuke was a child abuse victim who was tortured by his older brother when he was only 7 years old, lived life alone in an abandoned home where his parents died, and Sasuke's dead Uchiha clan never got revived they're still dead. Ragna erased himself from existence to protect those he loves and give humanity a good future!!! Ragna should not compared to Jin either!!". She fucking drew poorly drawn fanart of Sasuke decapitating Jin Mortal Kombat fatality style, and then making out with Kazuya in front of Jin's corpse. Don't worry, I'm no longer friends with her. Sadly this girl and other ppl hating on him saying "haha emo edgelored"/"war" jokes for the billionth time gave me very negative first impressions of Jin back then. Now after I finally started getting into Tekken playing Tekken 8 and the older games like Tekken 2, 3, 4, and 5 and learning that it's Harada's fault for fucking up his character in Tekken 6 to prop up Lars and Jin was OOC in that game compared to his character depiction in previous games - he's now my second favorite character in Tekken behind Lili. It pisses me off too, he's not selfish because he saved Hwoarang in Tekken 4 and he is shown to be supportive of people (supportive of Xiaoyu in her Tekken 4 ending, and he's also supportive of Phoenix Wright in Project X Zone 2).

Honestly hearing stories like this makes me glad I was homeschooled lol. Like OKAY I def knew ppl like this as a teenager, but only online, through the interwebs!! I've been blessed to have never known other teens like this irl LOL. And honestly, maybe it's just me but... I never get viciously hating FICTIONAL CHARACTERS to the point of drawing hate art of it or whatnot. Or to those nasty rpers who will actually follow the character they hate, just to have their muse be cruel to that character or even kill 'em or whatever. It's just... I can't imagine doing it! I don't think I have any characters in mind that I legit hate. Not even the bad ones that I don't like. I just don't like them and that's it lol. And I know these were high schoolers, but like... I don't even remember being like that during my teen years either. I might've been a lil like that as a kid as I was more annoying as a child (we all were lol) but... I still don't really remember haha.

Also Jin didn't want to kill his ENTIRE bloodline lol. Like iirc, even in 6, I don't think he's ever tried to seriously kill Lars? (Could be wrong about that I legit don't remember lol lol) Like Jin wanted to kill Heihachi and Kazuya because at the time, he legit thought they were the ONLY ones of the bloodline (along with himself) and well... they were time proven to be EVIL, therefore... yes, Jin was right, his entire bloodline (except for himself) was evil at the time lol. That was before Jinpachi and Lars were properly introduced in the series.

AND LIKE. LIKE. Some ppl do talk about how it's weird that Jin never showed remorse for killing Jinpachi but LIKE. I am pretty sure it's CANON that JINPACHI IS GRATEFUL TO JIN. Much like how Jin wanted to kill himself in TK4 to stop his Devil from taking over, Jinpachi wanted to be killed to stop the monster / demon possessing him from destroying the world. Like canonically, it was something both Jin and Jinpachi knew had to happen.

I get tired of those acting like Jin never "suffered." It's like yeah, Jin DID have a good childhood up until he was 15 years old. Jin still spend most of his teen years being abused by an old wrinkly fuck, only to be killed by said old wrinkly fuck. Of course, the stupid game's writing did ruin a lot of Jin's suffering. (His mother isn't actually dead, so like... yeah. But I guess he still grieved her and she's been missing for years. His devil isn't actually bad so he was rejecting something that was actually beneficial LOL LOL LOL) But... that's just Tek writing for you. If we forget a lot of the stupid retcons, we can say Jin had a good amount of suffering. HELL, he was created TO BE a tragic hero.

I'm not gonna go on to explain, but I have stated on this blog many reasons why the "Jin is selfish / doesn't care about anyone" has always been a misconception, even prior to Tekken 8 where he gets a lotta friend buddies. But I am glad he's one of your favorites lol. Really, I feel like MORE people would love Jin if they actually looked at him with critical thinking, rather than just... accept the rancid writing of Tek6 and be like "yup, he's a bad character!" Like Jin's a REALLY damn good character prior to Tek6. And when ppl actually look back on those games, play his stories, really pay attention to his character, they would know that.

1. Miðgarðsormr by xXAonoNYmouSPXx

I'm sure it's not a surprise 😄 This fic has me hooked, i even wrote a fanfic for this fic. Basically, tomione has a magical child, and when i say magical, i don't mean he's just a wizard. Their child is so much more haha. The twist: Tom had never met hermione and Hermione doesn't even know that her child has a father. Motherhood suits hermione so well in this fic and we get the bonus of seeing Tom riddle got dragged into parenthood haha. BAMF Hermione

2. In the Black + Black Mask by izzythehutt

It's a series. Regulus survived the cave and went to Sirius then boom: BLACK FAMILY REUNION. It's Sirius-centric and Sirius's characterization in this fic is so good. This story delves deep into Black family drama and the war. SiriusxOC, and while i usually don't read many HP fics with OC as a prominent character, this fic is so worth it to read.

3. Hermione Granger, Demonologist by BrilliantLady

It's a light read and it has great theories! I like to read it from time to time. Kid Hermione summoned demons in attempt to make friends and becomes a dark witch so naturally. But even though she's a dark witch, she is still very hermione!

4. Strange Attractors by Mistakes_And_Experiments

Tomione and world building! Smart people talking smart things. Tom is deep into politic. Very slow paced. Very sweet, not dark at all, unlike many tomione fics. Hermione is a bit ooc in this one, i think (not a hot headed gryffindor at all, but rather calm like luna). Still, it's an awesome read that i like to return to.

5. when sunsets look like blood (hold me till the stars appear)

Again, Tomione. Hilarious and deep. Tom riddle is not some evil overlord in this fic. Still rather evil, but just a teenager. I read this one a long time ago, but i still love it to this day.

Honorable mentions

The Laughing Heart : Regulus-centric, one shot. This fic makes you feel. It's regulus black, duh.

R. v. Riddle : Another light read! Or is it dark read? 🤔 About a murder case gone wrong (or gone right, in Tom's opinion). Intelligent Hermione but tom riddle is so much more haha. In this case, tom riddle played Hermione like a cheap kazoo :)) i really recommend this, it depicted tomione perfectly.

You Should Know : Adult hermione and adult tom riddle/voldemort. Hermione is born in the 30s, so a bit younger than tom riddle. Another light read that i like to read from time to time. It's canon hermione who grows up in the 30-40s and doesn't have harry or ron as friends.

Aberration : Harry/Hermione. Hermione is sorted into Slytherin. Honing her cunning out of necessity

Yesterday is Tomorrow (everything is connected) : who doesn't know this fic, honestly. I don't particularly like james/hermione but it's BAMF hermione so i can't resist. I'm glad i decided to read it, because this fic influences Mad Adventure a lot (I got the idea of using the Crouch family for Mad Adventure because of this fic). This fic is not one of my top favorites, but i put it here because it made great impacts on Mad Adventure

As you can see, I mostly read Tomione fics 😅 I know my fave list lacks any Regmione, but it is what it is :( I only got into regmione because i just think Regulus will suit Hermione well and deserves so much better. In any case, The Damned is one of the most memorable regmione fic for me - it's just so different and interesting.

she took care of me up there. though her job as 'creator of the universe' also needed her to protect it and fix it when necessary. she was a queen of a planet (probably one that worships her) so she leaves me there sometimes for the advisors to try and teach me.

it was... annoying, having the advisors fawn all over me, trying to protect me from important stuff, and being pushy to me. they keep saying i was destined for great things... the only thing i liked about that time was that i got into books there. the library was huge there.

ah, uhm i strayed a little from the original question. my mother would usually pick me up and cared for me. she would always talk to me about the things ive learned, about the books i read, and the things that happened that day. she was a good listener. (maybe that's why father was interested in her)

she would always hold me in her wings, craddling me until i was fast asleep. she was nice and kind, but her anger is great. i think she almost destroyed the planet she was queen of after hearing about the advisors being bitches whenever i hide from them.

she was concerned for me. she would always peck me if i were to act cruel to another person (unless they deserved it, in which she allowed me to do.) always believing there is another way things can be handled.

mother sometimes brings me on a journey across the galaxy, seeing different planets and stars... it was amazing...

i... when i was an adult, i told her about wanting to become a guardian to a planet, since ive heard about it when the advisors talked. she was reluctant, seeing me as only a fledgling. she says it would be a great responsibility to do, and that i wouldn't only be shamed, but weakened when planet would collapse. i was adamant, and she allowed me to. she searched for a planet that was in danger and.. well gardenia was there.

she was shocked and concerned, considering father was there too. she sent me over there, saying to look for a barred owl wearing an old-timey suit. i know who that was, ive seen her talk about him most of the time. an owl who was curious and interested in adventure, always eager to learn about new things. he seeked her out for a wish, and i guess he got what he wanted.

he would sometimes write to us, asking about me and how i am. he wanted to connect with us, but my mother's role made it slightly harder. she could just leave me with him, but i was a pretty high-need baby, and well... the things i needed weren't in the reserves of gardenia...

she sent me there, and well, i don't regret it. it was fun on that world. i met great friends, and my father was a great man, treating me well and is very much happy to tell me about his adventures of the past.

...i hope the universe there hasn't exploded yet.. haha..

Haha, sorry for making you think of Tangle's and Whisper's apology😅 But I must say, that is also something I had in mind when I wrote that I didn't expect the other characters to give Silver the apology he likely deserves if they go the route of the others ragging on him first. So far, I do not think that route is entirely proven with the solicit only stating "Awkwardness ensures.", but... Meh, I truly just have a bad feeling about it, not helped by the whole bit of the hasty accusations and what happened in Archie beforehand. I would not be surprised if 'Silver acts like an idiot and the others are snapping at him for getting in the way and being distrusting of this Cool New Diamond Cutter' were to happen, let's put it that way.

Honestly, with "I hate when the story is about characters making a fool of themselves" you hit the nail on the head: we know it is going to be incredibly cringe and awkward and uncomfortable! The solicits of both issue 63 and 64 state as much! ("But he's too busy being star-struck over Whisper to notice that he's interrupting their training!" and ".... he jumps to a conclusion that leads him to some hasty accusations. Awkwardness ensures." as prime examples.) And it might just be a complete disservice to Silver's character, both personality- and power-wise (you are NOT going to tell me Silver's PK is less powerful and skilled than Whisper's Wispon usage. Meteor Smash, anyone? Stopping the Eclipse Canon beam in that Sonic Channel story?), on top. Hopefully the plot line of Sonic and Blaze will indeed be something better handled than what the Silver and Diamond Cutters plotline is shaping up to be.

The thing is that "Character spends the entire runtime pointing out that Something is Wrong, gets arbitrarily brushed off, they are eventually proven right" is just... such a cliché plot. I'm pretty sure it's a stock episode in every Western cartoon. At least one can argue that the Whispangle Drama was supposed to teach a lesson about trauma and how to handle it (even if it was utter shit at it), but this is just a time waster - we know that the new guy is Mimic, it's so obvious from the cover, what's the point of going through this song and dance? Unless there's some Big Twist about it... and uhhh don't trust IDW with twists anymore...

Also yeah, you know what? Why is Silver even a Whisper fanboy? Whisper may be cool as a sniper, but Silver is by far one of the most OP people in the Sonicverse. This is not like him being amazed by the desert because it's still better than the future he grew up in, so he clearly has different standards of what counts as impressive, it's just... she uses Wisps, big deal, he can fucking stop a meteor thrown at him by a demigod.

In fact, I'll say that in general, the way Silver was used to introduce Whisper is... not very good. Compare this:

Tangle's introduction, where she displays her combat prowess and immediately befriends Sonic, showing her attitude and dorkiness in a natural way...

... and Whisper's, where before we actually see her in action, we get told by a canon character about how Amazing and Cool she is (let alone that said canon character is warped OOC), because she saved his life, yeah the random sniper is so fucking awesome man, trust me! Funnily enough, the first time we see her, she's just struggling to open a door, lmao.

(also i just realized that calling whisper "guardian angel", something she was never referred to since then, implies that they're all christian)

Basically, it's amateur fanfiction-tier writing, which is odd because Flynn nailed it with Tangle.

Sorry for the tangent 😅 I guess I'm trying to say that Silver's writing in IDW has always been severely flawed and this plotline just sounds like it's going to be very annoying, unless you love uwu Cute Dork Round-Eyed Silver-kun. Which is most of his modern fans, from what I gather.

Tbh I think the joker is wild is only so disliked because of where it is in the shows whacky continuity. If it didn’t air like 7 episodes before GFA where we see Hawk at his lowest it would’ve been better received and not so much as BJ fuckin with his deeply mentally unwell friend. Honestly I could see it taking place a little bit after period of adjustment as another form of BJ coming to terms with this is going to be his life for a while. Trapper left, Radar left. Bj is stuck. Idk when I was younger I always loved it cuz haha Bj pranks his friend !! But now I have mixed feelings

I can't speak to why anyone else dislikes The Joker Is Wild. For me, it's the following reasons:

As you said, it feels cruel to do to Hawkeye in season 11, especially in hindsight knowing what's coming. In that sense, it probably would play better if it happened earlier in the show. That being said, the narrative of that episode seems to assert that Hawkeye deserves it, and I don't think that was ever true. It's disproportionate to drive him to paranoia, but more than that, Hawkeye's pranks were rarely cruel, and when they were the victim was Margaret or Frank or, on a handful of occasions, Charles (BJ always helped with those) and it was never acknowledged as cruel. I think it was @majorbaby who first suggested this episode would be excellent if Margaret was the mastermind and I agree. That would be a well-executed continuity nod and a successful metacommentary on the early seasons of the show. As written, it is neither of those things.

I struggle to believe that Margaret or Mulcahy or Klinger or someone wouldn't have questioned the plan once it became apparent how it was affected Hawkeye. I know that was impossible because of the reveal, but I think it's unfair to those characters (for reference, I don't think Fallen Idol is unfair to any of them or OOC).

This episode characterizes pranks as cruel which they never were on MASH before. Even episodes like April Fools and An Eye for a Tooth end with even the victims laughing. The exceptions are, of course, early pranks on Frank and Margaret, but they were antagonists and considered deserving. Dear Sigmund, the episode that establishes BJ as a prankster, is pretty straightforward about what pranks mean at the 4077th. Sidney describes the practical joker as a folk hero. The pranks are meant to make everyone laugh and they serve to boost morale. Even the victims usually enjoy them and they're fairly harmless.

The Joker Is Wild tries to do a continuity nod--rare for M*A*S*H--and does it badly. This is more or less unforgivable to me. All of the references to Trapper as a gifted practical joker make no sense, because that was never Trapper's thing. Trapper only ever participated in pranks with Hawkeye, and while the offscreen ones may have been more equal, onscreen Hawkeye masterminded them. Hawkeye has an entire storyline in Showtime where he engages in a solo prank war against Frank; Trapper is not involved. By contrast, pranks are BJ's thing, as established in Dear Sigmund.

The pranks just aren't good. The ones BJ does, the ones Hawkeye talks about that Trapper supposedly came up with... their sophistication and epicness are purely informed attributes. If you're going to do this kind of an episode, you need writers who are good at pranks. An Eye for a Tooth works because it was based on a real prank war in the cast.

BJ was already unsympathetic to me when he nailed Hawkeye's shoe to the floor because For Want of a Boot really struck a nerve for me and he just left a hole in that shoe!!!

BJ did not win the bet. There is no room for interpretation here. There is no "well the real point was..." It doesn't matter, because the episode treats it as if he won the bet, and he did not. The bet was not that he could get Hawkeye, it was that he could get six people. He got one person. He lost. Period. What bothers me the most about this is I don't think the writers realized this. I think they forgot what the bet actually was. The meat of this episode is the rivalry between BJ and Hawkeye and I think somewhere along the line someone just failed to notice that the set-up didn't make sense. That's sloppy writing and I dislike it.

Most of these issues are magnified by bingewatching. I think a casual viewer--and even a lot of dedicated viewers in the 80s--gets what you got as a kid: haha, BJ pranks his friends! If you can enjoy it on that level, good for you! I can't change that I watched the show in sequence and it made me deeply uncomfortable (and I do think it's poorly written). I would personally not like it more if it came after Period of Adjustment, but I might if it happened in seasons 4-6.

omg Angie that was exactly what i meant and i loved it! I also adore Lebanon's favourite "are they?aren't they?" couple and imagining samdean co-parenting is such a delight. "If the baby looked like Sam, Dean would have like 12 disorders" got a laugh but it's so true i don't know how he'd handle it. It's similarly what makes me also like the idea of Dean having to deal with a deaged Sam just to see how gobsmacked he'd be. (Also those mommy recs? For a friend? 👀)

1. Oh good I’m glad it resonated! Truly, Dean would be against those baby chest carriers until the little guy was born, and then he’d not only constantly be wearing him strapped in, he’d also have one arm wrapped around at all times. Also that baby would not have a nursery, Dean would put the crib in their bedroom so he could be as close as possible, sit on the rocking chair at night just staring (Sam gets it, at least enough not to press the issue).

2. About A Boy with deaged Sammy: they’d have to end the show right there! Dean would run off into the night with itty Sammy, let some other hunter deal with the missing people. (/hj, I don’t actually remember what their relationship was like prior to that ep, all I know is it was VERY funny to me that they had a solution to the mark but Sam was like 🥺 “I am not baby?? no more Big Bro? Unacceptable.”

One of my all time favorites. It’s a little OOC, but Sam’s uh, canonical entitlement toward Dean/Dean’s body and resources is so so sexy. Cockblocking him, spending his money, joining him in Dean’s subconscious against Dean’s protests. Spn was allergic to having a consistent stance on souls, but if you largely view soulless!Sam as Sam without empathy, then.. Yeah. I think the Sam in this fic/universe is realistically ruthless in getting what he wants (a baby in Dean).

(Taste Every Fruit by the same author doesn’t have pregnancy, but is a lactation fic and uhh. Quite good.)

Hi, last night I read "one on, two out" and I am in shambles!!! It was sooo well written and beautiful. I love the characterization. I was hesitant because of the pairing but you portrayed them so well, it really works. The whole premise of Dean needing someone to just care for him, and yet when they do he is so out of his element... *chefs kiss* I'd love to hear about your thought process/inspo for the story :)

The inspo for that story goes back... years and years, actually, but it started with joking about how John would sell Dean to his hunting buddies if it'd get him a good deal on ammo -- and then realizing, while obviously that's OOC, if you pull it back from that most egregious place it doesn't... end up feeling all that out of character. John uses Dean as bait, as a distraction, as a weapon, as a wife [platonically or not, ahem]; that next step... wouldn't necessarily be a bridge too far. Then it was, man, Deacon sure had a weirdly close and affable relationship with the boys, didn't he? But especially with Dean. As always, Sam's standing very slightly to the side while Dean has his relationship an older man. (Over and over and over.) Then it was -- what if you combined those two ideas.

Except -- in the actual writing of it, I couldn't actually make it all the way into a sale or a trade, haha. Not just for John but also for Deacon, who just seems too entirely decent to actually engage in such a thing. So then it was -- well, maybe John's just tired of having Dean sadsacking around with Sam gone, and he's got a job he needs to do solo, and he sends Dean to his good friend Deacon for babysitting. Whether John knows about Deacon's proclivities or not is a bit of a mystery but I suspect it falls, for John, into the 'don't ask, don't tell' category. There's also something roughly tender in the idea that John realizes that Dean needs someone to look out for him, but John also knows that it can't be him -- and Deacon, his old buddy, is as good a person to do it as anyone. (Especially since Bobby already threatened to fill him with buckshot.)

After that it all just kind of... fell into place. Nothing better than giving Dean someone who can just hold his face without expecting something in return: not loyalty, or sacrifice, or even thought. Just let the kid be. It's really astonishingly easy to cast him as a sub. And boy, does he deserve a nice long vacation into subspace. So... that's basically the whole fic, lol.

Dramitas & series - part 2

I watched quite a lot of dramas and series the past year, sadly I watched half of them while freelancing (it's great to multitask, it saves a lot of time). 

Better Call Saul ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was a fan of Breaking bad, it was cool to see a lot of the original characters again and I really enjoyed the new ones. I had a good time. It’s perfect, the cast, the script, the photography, they deserved some of the golden globes, they were nominated many times but never won one (at the end it just a popularity contest ¬ ¬)

House of the dragon ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I watched  this series from a very critical point of view, considering that there are no heroes or villains as such, just people making decisions and of course I watched it for the main reason, the dragons! Viserys looks like my dad physically (even the long curly hair) so it was very awkward to see him in his final stage. The final episode was epic. I'll wait patiently for that glorious battle.

Interview with the vampire ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good adaptation, they even updated it, I loved the three main actors although at first I was very hesitant. I just don't like sex scenes in general, so there was this scene and I covered up for a bit 🙈 then looked back and laughed, they were fucking floating! haha.

I didn't like the domestic violence scene. L can be very toxic, but I don't think that scene was necessary (for me it was OOC). ​

The boys ⭐⭐⭐1/2

I watched all the seasons in a marathon every night for a month O_O

It's so funny that they always have an episode in every season where they show something completely crazy and gross, I wonder what they have planned for season four. It's very good satire and social criticism but I can't tolerate too much sexual scenes, which abound haha, I tend to fast forward or look elsewhere (that stupid toilet scene! I wish I could unsee it! ).

Obi-Wan Kenobi ⭐⭐⭐1/2

Many things can be improved (cough cough chase scenes), but I really respect the actors who returned to the franchise after a long time, I still hope there will be a second season.

Aaaaa probably Valentino and Angel, especially after what I heard what happened in canon. I wasn't surprised since the music video, Addict, already hinted at it, but it bugs me to see people want to romanticize that kind of dynamic. I'm for toxic ships but I'm not gonna glorify them.

Adam, Adam, FUCKING ADAM! I hated how fanon wanted him to be some conqueror that wanted control over Pentagram and I ESPECIALLY LOATHED how they wanted him to take advantage over Charlie and Lillith. The whole dash raved about it and I am still dealing with the mental garbage from all that. And then trying to tie real-world faith into such a vile protrayal? Fine, he's based on the Biblical Adam but how some wanted to really push religion and that Adam together just alienates those who do hold onto a faith and want to enjoy the show. It feels targeted. I can't even stand to look at the character after seeing this tasteless, unimaginative, and degenerate protrayal a few fans held (and probably still hold to this day.

The idea that Heaven is an authoritarian evil. Like, can you imagine how nihilstic and hopeless that is? You either fall into hell where everyone treats you like dirt until you're erased completely from existence, or be trapped in an eternity of constant surveillance controlled by equally corrupt rulers? It doesn't make sense either. Going to Heaven means being "good", thus kind, gentle, and loving. That contradicts how everyone wants to so badly paint Heaven as evil because "haha sexy demons sing Disney-esque songs". Just because the show is focused on hell doesn't make the opposite the "big bad". Stories don't always have to be that simplistic. Fight me.

I had to look up what Blorboficiation means. If it means "a character that is liked more than deserved" then *points violently at Adam* He supposedly represents a lot of things that tumblr hates, so why do so many people like the hateful asshole? Is it because he's a brightly-colored cartoon character? Or because "evil guy hot"? He looks like a Christmas ornament how is that attractive????? And like, are our principles really going to be that easily swayed, just because we like how a guy looks?

Probably Alastor and Charlie being cutesy to each other. It's not that i hate it, it's just something I see everywhere. It bugs me that folks want to erase the relationship between Charlie and Vaggie but AUs I guess.

The shipping and romance. Like yeah, those can be fun but I've seen people rp fanon stuff over and over and over again because it's their OTP. Some folks want to focus solely on the relationship drama when there's a whole, wild and crazy world they can write fun adventures in.

Alastor not being shipped canonically. He is charming but I just want the evil chaos deer stay as the chaos deer. If he got romantically involved, I feel he would lose that part of him.
