the 1 (feat. Shoto Todoroki x reader) ↻ ◁ II ▷ ↺
It had been three years since you last met Shoto in person; so when you saw him standing near a bus stop, your heart skipped like it always used to do when you were still together.
You stared in the distance, hesitating about going to greet him. Just like he had felt your gaze, he turned to meet your eyes. His face lit up, and instantly walked towards you.
Your heart sank with every step he took to get closer, and you couldn't help the smile that was growing in your face.
"Hi." He greets, with a breathy voice.
"Hey! How have you been? It's been a while!" You chuckled. It really was nice to see him, but you were feeling a mix of nostalgia and sadness at how changed he looked.
"Yeah, it has! I've been good; everything as usual," he laughs. "What about you?" Shoto looked relaxed and confident, you wondered if he felt as nervous as you were.
"Me too! I'm doing good, on some new stuff." You answered, and cackled anxiously.
"Really? What's new?" He asked.
"Oh well, you know... I got a new job, I've been trying new hobbies..." You answered a little ambiguos, not sure how much detail you should reveal.
"Been saying yes instead of no, I see. Sounds nice." Shoto smiled at you, and the feelings in your heart intensified.
It felt foolish to figure out how much Shoto still belonged in your heart, so you tried to keep the conversation as cool as you could.
"What about all your cool hero work? Any new adventures on your own?" You asked him.
"Not much has changed, really. The usual patrolling and a few cases of bigger villains." He shrugged, and you hummed in understanding.
"What are you doing here anyway?" You asked.
"I'm currently patrolling. Do you want to tag along?" He nudged you encouragingly, and the contact made you feel like you were shocked with electricity.
You were on your way to buy groceries, but it was still early, so you had a few minutes to spare.
"Sure." You nodded, and smiled.
You walked around the blocks that Shoto was patrolling. The conversation continued with you talking about how you both were doing, the updates in your life, you both criticising new films...
Althroughout your chat with Shoto, your mind was flooded with flashbacks. It felt really good to be with him; it was almost like how it had been at the beginning of your relationship, like the chemistry between the two of you had grown, instead of dissapearing in the time you had not seen each other. The only difference was, that Shoto seemed more open and expressive. This made you feel happy for him, but resented at the thought that you wished he had been like that when you were together.
You two had ended mainly in good terms; but one of the reasons that you had broken up, was that you felt like he rarely showed up his love towards you. You knew he was someone who kept to himself in general, but as time passed, it became more difficult to feel loved by him. After you broke up, time had made you lose contact with each other.
As you kept walking and chatting, you suddenly arrived to a small neighborhood. There was a park, with a playground and a small fountain in the middle.
"Do you still like to toss coins and make wishes?” Shoto asked.
“I don’t know how you still remember that.” You laughed, feeling a warm spreading in your chest.
“You used to do it every time you saw a fountain. And you would never tell me what you wished for.” Shoto cackled at the memory, and hearing his laugh made you realize how much you had missed it.
A question started to linger in your mind, but you shrugged it off, resisting the temptation to ask it.
“If you wish out loud, it won’t come true!” You said.
“Right. I have a few coins if you want to toss one” Shoto offered, and a smile grew in your face.
"Well, why not? Let's both do it!" You chuckled and you walked towards the fountain; Shoto handed you the coin and you closed your eyes for a second, as you focused on your wish.
When you opened your eyes, Shoto was looking at you.
“Ready?” He asked, and you nodded.
You both tossed your coins, watching how they plopped in the water. You stared at the coins for a few more seconds, trying to avoid Shoto's gaze. You were not sure if the tension you were feeling was mutual, or if it was all in your head.
"We should head back; it's getting late." Shoto's voice broke the silence, and you agreed with a nod.
The walk back to the bus stop was quieter, but the silence was comfortable. You were enjoying the stroll, feeling the cool air brushing your hair.
As you arrived to the bus stop, the question you had brushed off earlier returned.
'If one thing had been different, would everything be different today?'
But as you fought the temptation to ask it, Shoto's phone buzzed, jolting both of you from your thoughts.
"I'm sorry, I gotta go. Uraraka set me up with some woman on the internet and I'm running late." Shoto said, sending an apologetic look towards you.
"Oh! Yeah, don't worry. Have fun!" You answered, not sure why you heart ached.
"Have a safe way home. I hope the wish you asked for comes true." Shoto offered a last smile, before parting ways.
You stood for a few seconds watching his figure dissapear in the distance. You felt how your heart broke again, while thinking,
'If my wishes came true, it would have been you...'

Instagram search part 2
Insta!Joel x Fem! reader
Serie masterlist
Summary: Everything is going so well that Joel decides to take your "relationship" a step further. Soon you will have a date with Mr. Miller.
Rating: +18 (minor dni)
Words counted: 4.4k
Warnings: age gab (Joel is in his late 40's, reader in her early 20's) need for male attention, vomiting (from nerves), a bit of sexting, daddy issues?, pet names, insecurity (body, shape, for being who you are, sex, private parts), fear of rejection, Overthinker 24/7, dirty talk.
Note: Late to update, I have been busy with the university that I forgot. I wanted to make this chapter longer but I didn't want to postpone another day, so part two will have a second part that will move the whole date and a little after this one, I hope you like it and want to continue reading it. Thank you for the support that the first part had, you don't know how happy I was to know that you liked it. Enjoy and see you in the next part :) my first language is not english, any mistake i apologize.

"I don't believe it" said one of your friends named juliet
"You are flirting with a sir!" this time Nell made fun of you
"Don't tell him sir, it sounds weird" you said embarrassingly
"come on" she said your name "we know you have daddy issues since you told us you liked that actor of yours" Nell point
"I don't have daddy issues"
"Don't deny it" Nell told you looking into your eyes narrowing them
"I deny it because it's not true, I have a good relationship with my dad" They both looked at each other
"Well... but admit that you like old man" they both laughed at the offended face you made
"better shut up" you said blushing
You had told your two best friends about the talk you had with Joel last night, as much as you wanted to talk to him it was too early to do it, you didn't want to seem intense or urgent. But hell you did want to talk to him again.
The truth is that what your friends said was true, not the daddy issues (or so you wanted to think) but that you were attracted to older man, not so old, but at some point you felt the need for someone older to take care of you, who wanted to give attention to a young woman like you.
You don't know why you need male attention, and you like them to be dominant, not in a relationship, you don't like being bossed around, you are a free and independent woman, you are very stubborn, you like to argue if necessary, before you used to say yes to everything and everyone, just to not look bad and be a good girl, but that had already changed. But that they were dominant in the sexual act, sounds good, you would like them to guide you in it, tell you how to do it, that they know how to do it, that they tell you things that you have never heard.
You wanted to do things you hadn't done with anyone else
|||||||
It had already been a few days of talking to Joel, you thought it would be difficult to talk to him, but it was easier than you thought. Every day was a new topic, he asked you about your tastes:
and what are you doing today doll
I'm reading a book
oh you like to read, I see why you're so damn smart
haha it's not that kind of books that I read
He asked you about the school:
how were the classes sweetheart
They are killing me, the teachers stress me out
it's part of darling
if you were my teacher would you take pity on me?
of course honey, you would be my favorite student
and you my favorite teacher
You asked him about his day, his work and he even told you about his daughter and brother between conversations.
How was your job?
uff stressed, I'm finished darlin
I wish I was with you, I would give you a massage
do you know how t' do them?
Of course I know, I told you I'm studying health tourism?
no, you skipped that detail but I don't doubt that those hands know how to move
.....
Sorry baby I was in a game, I couldn't answer you
Game? Do you play soccer?
No, my daughter is the one who plays
Oh your daughter...what's her name?
Sarah
How nice of you to go to her games
It's my responsibility sweetheart, and it's too good to miss.
..........
It was different every time, it felt different, in the best possible way, you didn't think you were really talking to him. You thought he was going to get bored of you for being a girl who had no topic of conversation, or simply because you looked very naive, but you had a good time talking to him, he was the only one you expected his messages from after a long morning.
It was friday, at this very moment you were with your friends in a river, they decided to have a picnic near a river that was not so far from their houses, they wore bathing suits because of course they could get in, even though it was so cold that you doubted it.
"Get in, it's not that cold" Nell said inside the river
"I don't believe you" you said hugging yourself
"Ash, Juliet get in so she can see I'm not lying" she yelled at your friend who was on the shore
"mmm" she thought about it for a moment while watching the river water drag with a minimum force
"Alright" she finally walk in and gasp
"It's not cold" she said while biting his lip
“You told me that it was not going to be so cold morons”
"It's a fucking river, what did you expect? it's not a jacuzzi" Nell said as she approached you to take your hand
"come on"
"Hell, if I get hypothermia, it's your fault."
"Yes Yes"
After a while of talks, laughs and some videos, you decided to take a photo to upload it to your story.
"Juliet, take a picture of me" you stretched out your hand where your cell phone was
"yep" approached you taking your cell phone in hand
Your bathing suit was two pieces, it had a very nice embroidery and it was white. In the end I took several of them so that you could choose which one you liked best, there was one that you undoubtedly liked more than the rest of the other photos, so you uploaded it.
At the end of the afternoon you decided to go back to your homes, on the way you' were listening to music, when you remembered that you hadn't talked to Joel all day, not even in the morning.
You know that he is a busy man, with a job, with a daughter, with many more important things on his mind than you, apart from you had agreed with your friends that you would not send him daily messages, at least not so much so that you would not see yourself so needy, Well, you didn't want to see yourself like that, you didn't want to push him away, you wanted to give him his space to focus on his life, but you lied to yourself that it was so that you wouldn't be infatuated anymore.
When you got home you took a shower, it was a relief for you to know that tomorrow would be Saturday, you were so tired that you could lie in bed and not hear from anyone for the rest of the night. But those thoughts vanished when you heard the Instagram notification coming from your cell phone.
It was a message from Joel
God doll, that suit suits ya' very well
Thank you :)
I hope you had a good time my little girl
YES, it helped me get some fresh air
I bought some other swimsuits a few days ago, do you want to see them?
Sure baby show me
You smiled at the answer, you went to your drawers where you had two more bathing suits, a black one-piece and a brown two-piece. You stood in front of the mirror that was in the corner of your room and decided to sit on the floor to take the photos, the poses were not as produced as you would like, but you tried to highlight your hips and waist.
You sent them, a few seconds later a bubble appeared in the chat
Shit sweetheart, how beautiful it looks on you, you have a beautiful body hon
It's a normal body haha it's not that bad
No, it's not just a body, it's your body, you're so damn beautiful baby
Do you want to see another?
let me see more honey
Send picture*
Shit baby that's not a bathing suit..!
It was a photo of you in nothing more and nothing less than a baby doll, made of transparent black fabric and pink lace on the edges of the cups and a bow in the middle of your breasts.
Why the fuck would you have a baby doll if you've never been with anyone…well remember I said virgins were more…needy and horny all the time, well this is part of it. One day you were walking through the streets, you had money and you passed by an adult store, where they sell all kinds of things, you went in out of curiosity, and you found the baby doll section, they were very pretty, you remembered some photos you saw on Pinterest of a girl wearing one so you bought it wanting to recreate those photos and upload them to your instagram, only you never did for fear your mom was going to see them but the photos stayed on your phone.
Do you like it?
Do you know what that photo can cause?…
Don't know…
that many men want you
What about you, do you want me?
I don't want you, I need you
Shit I need you so fucking bad baby
Right now?
Today and every day I think of you
I think about you too
What do you want from my darling?
All
Tell me and I'll give it to you
I want to do things with you that I haven't done with anyone else.
Shit I want to teach you things baby
I want every inch of you
you're a dirty girl aren't ya'
only when i'm horny
You look so innocent, I could swear you were a good girl
I'm a good girl, I'll be for you
Would you be a good girl for me?
I will be
You don't know the things I want to do to you right now
tell me..
words would not be enough sweet thing
Tell me what you would like me to do to you.
At that moment you didn't know what to answer, you knew the things you wanted to do but… what if you didn't like it, what if your expectations were too high, but you remembered that you weren't talking to a college boy, you were talking to a 48-year-old man , he would know how to make you feel good.
But again, that hole was felt in your stomach, fear and anxiety took over your mind
you must tell him you must tell him that you are a virgin who has never had sexual contact with any man or boy
you were not naive, Of course you weren't, you're a smart girl, you're informed about every sexual act that exists, the only thing you lack is security. Do you feel like it, of course you do, but you are too insecure with your body, with your buttocks
what will he say about all the stretch marks you have on your buttocks that's why you didn't show your butt in the photos
what would he think of your belly That's why you took a pose where you were less visible and held your breath
what did he think of you…it's not pink like other girls have
that was a great insecurity for you, you consumed porn and all that shit got into your head, a girl should have a pink vagina, her labia should have a pink perfect shape, you always saw that they were all the same and that's why men wanted them more, it was one of the reasons why you waited for someone who was the right one for the situation, someone who made you feel comfortable with your body and skin, who After all, don't go and tell his friends what your body was like or what the act was like, you wanted to protect yourself and your body from any criticism.
Even if you wanted to be with him, you didn't know if you could trust that much, you didn't know if you could trust him to see you all naked.
or trust that he wouldn't hurt you
You didn't want it to end so quickly, you wanted him to know you for who you are, not for what you wanted men to see of you.
you wanted to be different with him, you wanted to show him all your facets, you wanted him to tell you how good you were for him, and how proud he is to be the person you are.
You were so deep in your thoughts that you didn't realize that almost 10 minutes had passed since you sent the message
POV JOEL
After he sent you the message, he stayed inside the chat waiting for your response, he didn't see any bubbles appear on the screen, he assumed that maybe you were thinking about what to write, he left his phone on the table to go to the stove where he was cooking. He had arrived late from work, he was too lazy to make himself dinner, he was only going to go up to his room to bathe and sleep, but Sarah prevented him from doing that, she told him that he had to have dinner since he surely had not eaten well in the afternoon, and it was true, Joel had so much work that he couldn't think of anything else but that, and well…from time to time on you.
He served his food and sat down at the table. You hadn't written anything yet… which is weird since you both usually answered quickly, he didn't know if he made you feel uncomfortable or you didn't want to answer the question, or you just didn't want to talk about it, he was about to text you but a message popped up.
ummm I don't know if we should talk about this here
He read the message a little worried that he'd crossed a line or put yourself in a situation you might not want
Don't worry baby, the last thing I want is for you to feel uncomfortable, if you don't want to, you just have to tell me, okay?
You're not mad?
Of course not sweetheart, why would I?
because I was the one who put you in that state and now I don't want to continue
hey darling ya' shouldn't think like that okay i don't want you to feel that way
only idiots make pretty girls like you feel guilty
I'm sorry
You don't have to apologize baby, many idiots have hurt ya'?
I did´t had good experiences
I will take care of you baby girl, I will treat you well
After finishing the conversation and Joel finished his dinner, he got up leaving the plate in the sink, went upstairs to his room and got into the shower.
He couldn't stop thinking about you, how pretty you were, how interesting you were to him, he didn't want to sound like an idiot who only wants to get into the legs of a young girl but… you seemed like a mature girl for your age, he's known to many people who are your age and they are all different from you, most of them are irresponsible or do not have their feet on the ground, for some reason he feels that he can talk to you about anything and he will feel comfortable doing it, and he knows that you will understand everything he tells you.
He wants to feel your hands, how small they are in his, he wants to admire your eyes up close, study the color in them, he wants to hold your face in his hands, he wants to be able to hear your voice, know your smile and hear your laugh. It's crazy that he's thinking about that, especially with someone as young as you, sometimes he felt that what he was doing was wrong, at first he thought why such a beautiful girl had followed him, he was curious so he just followed you back, he hadn't seen your profile or anything, until the next day you published a story about a pasta, he went to your profile and it was the first time he was able to put a face to the name, he found you quite beautiful and pretty.
The night he received your message, he was with his brother and daughter in the living room, Sarah had taken the phone, Joel didn't pay attention to him but when Sarah gave him the phone, he saw the notification and your message on the screen, he took it from Sarah and he was laughing asking who you were, to which he replied with a simple “don't know kiddo” but the blush on his cheeks gave it away making Sarah and Tommy laugh.
You caused him things that he thought were forgotten, that he would never experience again, when you told him your age he swallowed hard, he didn't know what the hell he was going to talk to a 21-year-old girl, he couldn't with that league of girls, he was too old for that, but it wasn't until you challenged him that he felt that maybe he could change things, it didn't matter to him to try.
They had already been talking for weeks, he wanted to meet you, he wanted to have you in person, so he didn't hesitate to think of the crazy idea of asking you out.
.......................................
After that conversation you fell asleep, thinking about how he was when he was young, if he treated women well or maybe he was a jerk like any other.
The next day you felt awful because you hadn't slept well, you woke up every hour during the night, you couldn't stop thinking about what you could do to get rid of that anxiety.
You were in your bed still lying down, your phone next to you on top of the pillow, the whole blanket over your hair covering half of your face, you were face down already awake but you didn't want to get up, you stretched out your hand to the pillow taking your phone, you passed it under the sheets to have it in front of your eyes that were still half closed due to the crusts that were on them.
The time was 9:25, waking up at this time on a Saturday was weird for you, but you knew you couldn't go back to sleep.
You unlocked your phone and realized that you had several notifications from Instagram, you started to remove them without seeing them, except for one that was from a message from Joel that said:
i was thinking…
We've been talking for a while, I've really had a good time talking and getting to know ya', n' I was wondering if you'd like to meet in person?
I would like to invite you to have breakfast or lunch, whatever you want, wherever you want to go and make you feel comfortable, I would like to be able to talk to you in person.
Tell me if ya' think it's a good idea, I'll be on the lookout.
"shit"
That message woke you up immediately when you read it, you couldn't believe it, even if you read it over and over again it said the same thing.
"know each other?" you woke up sitting on the bed and leaning on your pillows
You looked at the phone and you didn't know what to do, he sent the message at night, 1 hour after you finished talking. Again you felt that anxiety in your chest and throat, what the hell were you saying, did you want to meet him? Did you want to know what he was like in person? Did you want to talk alone face to face with him? Did you want to leave your house to be with a “stranger”? It never crossed your mind that he would want to see you in person, not for a damn second, that you would talk, it was easier to talk to him by message, well it was easier for you.
What would happen in the moments of silence, what if it was an uncomfortable silence instead of a beautiful silence, what would happen if in the end it was not what you had imagined, what if in the end it was a damn pervert, no matter how handsome he was It's scary to meet him in person.
"What the hell do I tell him" you said in a whisper looking at the cell phone in your hands, you were trembling
You entered your messages and sent messages in your group of friends
I need your help!!
It took them a few minutes to reply
What happened?
tell us
Do you remember the man I'm talking to?
the old man? Yeah
Ahaha yes
Ash, well he told me if he wanted us to meet in person
what?!?!
No way!! Did you say yes or what?
No, I haven't told him anything yet, I don't know what to say
Spooky
Do you want to meet him?
I don't know, I'm scared to go out with someone older, I get bad dating someone my age, imagine how I am
it's different
did he tell you when he wanted to go out?
No, he just mentioned it, but he didn't tell me when
I guess until you tell him yes or no
Do you think it's a good idea?
If there is a part of you that wants to meet him… then do it.
Yes, remember that you said that you wanted to make a change in your life.
Yes, but I never thought it would be this change
So?
?
I think….I'll say yes?
If you do, be careful, even if you have already talked to him, you should always be alert, okay
Be very careful, you can send us a message, and send us your location
Ok, I'll see what he tells me, if today or when
You thought of all the possibilities, you can say that you didn't think of reaching that moment, that you don't like leaving your house….nah, not that, you can think of any excuse, but….do you really want to make an excuse? It's terrifying to be in a situation you don't know, with a man older than you, you were braver by text than in person, you're totally different, you're not so foul-mouthed, maybe dirty thoughts yes, but you didn't dare to say those things.
"fuck, how will I see him after I send him those photos"
You mentally hit yourself when you remembered the photo of the baby doll, God you are in trouble.
After thinking about it in the shower…and at breakfast, you took a deep breath thinking that it wouldn't be so bad, he told you that you could choose a place that would be safe for you, you can choose one not so far from home, you can leave if you don't feel comfortable You'll never know what might have happened if you don't try.
Ok, yes i would like, when?
You send him that. You were waiting for his answer, hoping it wouldn't be so soon, you needed to prepare yourself for what was to come, have everything in order in your head and look good, physically speaking.
You were looking at the window across from your bed when your cell phone vibrated in your hand.
Heavens to betsy, What do y' think tomorrow at noon?
what?! Tomorrow?!!! no fucking way
sure sounds good
what the hell am I going to do
.................................
t was Sunday, that's right, the day you would meet none other than Joel Miller
You were nervous, you went out to your balcony to breathe, you walked around your room checking that everything was in your bag, you looked in the mirror every 5 minutes, you checked that your makeup was shiny. The clothes were definitely the most difficult thing to choose, you didn't know what to wear, you knew something casual since you were going to the mall to eat and spend the afternoon, but you didn't know whether to wear pants or a dress, you were trying on everything you had, you wanted to look good for Joel, mature enough and look your age.
In the end you opted for a plain black skirt along with a plain white skintight shirt with a u-neck that highlighted your collarbones and highlighted your breasts, a black leather jacket and not-so-high-heeled black boots. A bit basic but you loved how you looked, you didn't want something colorful, you wanted something that made you feel sexy, and this outfit made you feel that way.
He told you that he was going to pick you up, you gave him your address but you told him to park a few more houses in front of yours, just so your mom or your brother wouldn't see you. he told you that he would arrive exactly at 12, there were 7 minutes left, you were nervous, you felt bad, your hands were cold, you needed to drink something, but you felt hot liquid in your throat.
"No fucking way"
You ran to the bathroom, knelt down and lifted the toilet seat, held your hair up and dumped all your breakfast inside. You wanted to cry because of how disgusting the scene was, you were going on a date with Joel and you found yourself throwing up in the bathroom less than 6 minutes after he arrived.
Your head was still inside the toilet when you heard the notification from your phone in the distance, you cursed inside, you breathed and you closed the lid pulling the lever so that the vomit would go away. You got up to brush your teeth pretty well, you didn't want any residue left anywhere. You took a mint that you had in your bag and you put it in your mouth, you took your cell phone and a message from Joel was on the screen.
I'm outside, I'm in a black pickup truck, three houses from yours
I had never felt so nervous in my life.
I left my house saying that I would be back at 7, I was shaking, trying to breathe as deeply as I could, I didn't want him to notice how nervous I was, when I left the gate I visualized the only truck that was parked in the distance. Shit, I have to act normal from now on, I don't want him to see me in the rearview mirror reeling with nerves.
I walked sure of myself, with my eyes on the truck, every time I got closer I could hear music coming from it, being at the end of the truck I could hear the song and I smiled, he was listening to Bryan Adams, he was the favorite singer from my dad.
The window was up on the passenger side, so I just touched the window glass and he turned to see me to stretch and open the door from the inside.
I entered the car carefully not to trip, I settled in the seat and it was just when I turned to see him. For the first time I had him in front of me, he was real, and hell he was so attractive in person, he had such a beautiful smile, his eyes looked bigger in person, they were a very beautiful dark brown color. He was wearing a green shirt, dark jeans and what he assumed were boots, he smelled too good.
You were so lost in your thoughts that when you heard his voice you came back to reality, his voice so manly, scratchy and strong but so relaxing at the same time, with that southern accent.
"hey sweetheart" had a smile plastered on his lips
"Hi" it is very possible that you were like a tomato at that very moment
"Finally I meet you in person" he keeps looking at you which causes you to turn your face in sorrow, you can't stop smiling
"That's right… you look much better in person" you dared to say to be able to relax and gain confidence faster
"Haha, thank you hon, you're beautiful, y' look beautiful" he reached out his hand to touch your face, placed his fingers under your chin and caressed it, admiring how beautiful you are.
"are y' ready?" he ask after moving his hand away from your face so he can start the car
"Yeah, sure." You turned around to put on your seatbelt.
The car continued on its way, he ask you where you would eat, since he was not familiar with the place, you told him about one of your favorite restaurants, something simple. While in the restaurant he told you that he had a surprise for you, something that they had not planned but that he decided to do.
"Do y' remember that ya' told me that y' had never ridden a horse or even met one?"
"Yes, I remember" you looked at him while chewing a small piece of food
"Well," he paused and turned to you with a tight-lipped smile, "would ya' like to go to a stable so y' can ride one for the first time?"
You looked at him stunned, you didn't know what to say, you just laughed nervously thinking that he was playing with you
"are you serious? You're not lying to me?" you pointed at him with your index finger
“darling, I would never lie to ya'”
All this was new, everything! Until now everything was going well, you were comfortable with him, and he seemed comfortable, you loved how he called you all those names that he called you on chat, it was so natural and so him, you loved horses and you had told him so. He did that for you , you looked at him and he looked at you with puppy dog eyes without taking his eyes off you, waiting for your answer.
How the hell would you say no to those eyes, to him.
"I guess it will be you and me and a couple of horses" you smiled to which he smiled back while drinking his beer
In the end you would arrive a little after 7
Let's ride horses I guess

status of babbit's life yeehaw
tl,dr: busy moving and a couple of other big life things that just complicate things, but well on the way to being back to normal! new fic chapters and better quality art coming soon.
tl,wr (too long, will read):
Helloooo what's up its me, Babbit. or Rabbit. or Bones. or Idiot Moron Menace Child, idk im not picky lol
i know a lot of you guys have been wondering wtf is up with my upload schedule lately and the extreme lack of even basic content and also i am extremely aware that i have not updated my fics in a few millennia and for that i am very, very sorry. this post is to answer a few questions you might have, if anyone was curious about the 'reason' instead of just the 'when.'
my family and i have had a hell of a year, y'all. like, jesus christ, i really hope things level out and calm down for a while once we're moved in to our new apartment bc god damn we are so tired. the list goes: 1. we got kicked out of the house we were renting-to-own bc we wouldn't be able to afford the new rate, so they gave us two months to find a new place to live (not long enough, it turns out) and then foreclosed to get us out. 75% of our belongings were still in the house when we had to leave. that includes all of our christmas ornaments- including the ones kept for decades, and the ones made by me and my siblings, and the fancy ones made from blown glass. 2. the first night out of the house, one of our dogs, freaked out by the strangeness of the situation, panicked and slipped her harness and ran off. that was over a year ago. we haven't seen her since. 3. my cat got very ill and became unable to eat. she passed away almost exactly a year ago. she had been 14-15, and had been my baby since i was maybe 8. 4. one of the tires on my dads car blew out. during the night, while it was parked on the curb so he could put the spare on in the morning, one of the in-tact tires was fucking stolen LMAO 5. we applied to rent at so many places and got rejected so, so many times. it costs money to apply, btw. we're talking like $200+. no, u don't get that money back. 6. i lost my job bc knowing i would have to work 8 hours at a job that stresses me out to the point of exhaustion (at a place where no one takes me seriously and would actively laugh at me when i try to express my need to step away for a minute) sometimes paralyzed me and made me sick to my stomach and made me feel unable to leave the house, and i called out one too many times. a day after my birthday, too! 7. just recently, like within the last week, my dad's car got fuckin totalled!!!!!
THE GOOD NEWS IS WE OFFICIALLY, FINALLY, AFTER A SOLID YEAR, HAVE AN APARTMENT!!!!! I'LL HAVE MY OWN ROOM AGAIN!!! THERE'S AN ENTIRE KITCHEN!!!!!!!
the 'oh god' news is we still have to move in, and replace a lot of the stuff that we just couldn't take with us when we moved out (mostly stuff like bookshelves, dining table, dressers, etc) AND get the few things we could cram into a storage center out and moved into the new place, which isn't a lot but at the same time is more than we can realistically handle on our own. and then, we have to get my mums cats (a pair of kitty sisters that we had to temporarily house with my aunt, who got tired of looking after them and let them outside to be outdoor cats a few months ago. yes, this was an extremely shitty thing to do, and we've been working hard to get them back safely) AND my gecko (who my cousin has been looking after, even tho feeding him worms freaks him out LMAO yes i plan on compensating him) moved in, as well... basically oh my god there is so much to worry about but at the same time it's nice to have to worry about it bc it means we're making progress sdkfhsjdkfhdsjfh
basically i am just so tired but so busy and also thinkin abt so much im so sorry for lack of stuff but i am so looking forward to being able to bounce back, pls stick with me, it'll be sorted out soon i think and then i'll hit y'all with some good stuff i promise!!!!!!!
anyway thank u guys i love u and appreciate u all for sticking around

Chapter 20 – When Two Becomes Three
Leia
I’m scared.
So fucking scared.
The doctors and nurses are talking to each other as they push my gurney to the operating room. Jeremy catches up to us and takes my hand. We get to the doors and one of nurses stops Jeremy. “We’re going to get her set up and then bring you in.”
He nods and looks down at me. “See you in a minute.”
I keep my eyes on him for as long as possible before the doors closed. They move me into position and drape a barrier between my head and my belly. I hear the door creak open and then I see Jeremy all masked up. “Jeremy,” I say and can feel a tear fall.
“Hey, everything is still okay. I won’t leave.” He leans over and kisses my forehead. “You’re still the strongest woman I know.”
“Andy’s going to miss it,” I whisper.
“I know.”
“He’s going to hate us.”
“No, he won’t. He’ll be happy that you and the baby are healthy and safe. Don’t think like that.” He thumbs my tears away. “Don’t cry, he wouldn’t want you to cry.”
“Ok, let’s get started,” the doctor says. The phone rings right before and a nurse answers. “Yes? Oh okay, send him up.” She leans over to speak to the doctor.
The doctor’s eyes crinkle and she look over at me. “I’ve got a surprise for you.”
Andy
Three Hours Earlier
Morning skate on game day are always light. We never want to expend all of our energy before a game, it's just to get our legs loose from the day before and sleep. I’m excited but a little nervous. I wasn’t expecting Leia to be left alone while I was gone. I get it, Miranda has a job to do, but it made me nervous. At least until I talked to my girl. She was bubbly and happy over the phone last night. It calmed me down.
“Heads up!” Luke ices me as he comes to stop and I laugh, wiping the snow away from my face.
“Asshole!” I smack his ass with my stick as he skates away. I move to do my laps and shoot at the net occasionally. We have a rookie in net, taking shots as backup to Linus Ullmark since Jeremy is out with a concussion. I’m talking with the kid when I hear Coach call mine and Luke’s name. I snap my head up and he waves us over. I skate to him. “What’s up?”
“Get your shit together and get to the airport. Leia is in labor.”
The world around me stops. She’s in labor. “But she’s early,” I say. This can’t be happening. I’m supposed to be there to hold her hand. To see my daughter being brought into the world,
“Just go,” Coach orders. “Jeremy is driving her there. Sway, keep us updated.”
Luke guides me off the ice as Coach informs the team about what’s happening. “Luke, I...”
“Don’t freak, just get dressed and grab your phone and wallet. I’ll have the guys grab our stuff from the hotel.” Luke turned to walk back through the tunnel to the ice. I changed and then call Leia, but she doesn’t answer. No, I have to speak to her, or I am going to lose my mind.
One of the team coordinators tell us that we have a private plane waiting for us and we take off in a company car. My leg is bouncing in the car, staring at my phone. I try to call again. “Come on baby, pick up the phone.”
Luke’s phone rings. “It’s Jeremy,” he tells me. “Hey, let me put you on speaker.” Luke turns it and I can hear Jeremy.
“Hey, sorry, I saw you calling but Leia’s been having some intense contractions. The doctor is with her now. I don’t know how much longer she’ll be in labor.”
“Jeremy, is she in a lot of pain?” I ask.
“Yeah,” I close my eyes at his response. “They are going to give her a shot or something. She asked me to stay with her.”
“Ok, don’t leave her alone. We’ll be in the air within the next 20 minutes and we are about two hours away. Jeremy,” I took a breath, “please take care of my family.”
“I will Andy, I promise.”
I hang up as we pull into the private terminal. Climbing the stairs, the captain greets us. “Mr. Barber, Mr. Andrews, management informed me of the situation. I’ll get you to Boston as soon as possible.”
“Thank you.” I took a seat and just stared out the window. My mind was fully on Leia. Our daughter is early, and I don’t know if she is in distress. My mind runs through all the different complications that were in all the baby books I had read. My brow started sweating as I thought of preeclampsia and cord asphyxiation.
“Andy, take a breath for me.” Luke grabbed my shoulder and I turned to look at him. “C’mon buddy, breathe.”
“She’s alone and she’s giving birth to my baby and what if everything goes wrong?” I could feel myself panicking and I couldn’t stop it.
“Whoa, hey, she is not alone. Jeremy is there and while I’ve had my issues with him, he has proven to be a good man. He won’t let anything happen to her if he can.”
“Luke, why do I feel like this? I’m terrified.”
Luke smiled. “Because you’re about to be a dad. Soon, you will have two girls to take care of. They are going to love you so much.” He patted my back before he went back on his phone.
He’s right. I will have my girls to take care of from now on. And a thought runs through my head. Because, while everyone knows me to be that little girl’s dad, biologically, she isn’t mine. That isn’t something I had talked to Leia about. And then I thought about the fact that I don’t have any legal rights to take of Leia if something were to happen. I would die if something happened to her.
But we’ve only been dating for a few months. Though I’ve known her for the better part of 25 years. She’s my best friend for a reason. She knows me and I know her. And I want to be in her life forever.
And I know now what I need to do.
“Hey Luke?”
“Yeah bro.”
“You know I love Leia, right?”
“Duh.” He rolls his eyes.
“Right. Well, do you think that it would be ok to ask her to marry me?”
I probably should have timed that better as he was sipping a water when I said that. He sputtered and choked. I patted his back until the red color faded from his face. “You’ve only been together for a couple of months.”
“Three and we’ve been living together for seven and have been friends since she was born. She’s it, man. She’s the one I have been wanting, who make me the best version of me. I love her and I want to make her my wife. I want to legally adopt our baby and be a family, spiritually and legally.”
Luke goes quiet for a few minutes as I go back to staring out the window. “Why ask me?”
I turn back to him. “Luke, you are her family and while I’m not really asking for your permission, I do want your blessing.”
“Do you have a ring?”
“Not yet. I was just thinking that I don’t really have rights over Leia, or the baby and I needed to fix that. The first thing I need to do is make her mine, legally. But I know she will never do it if she doesn’t have your blessing.”
Luke nods. “You’ll still let me crash at your place and let me visit my sister?”
“When Miranda gets pissed, you can hide at our place.” I chuckle a little. “So...”
“I’ve always thought of you as a brother.” He sighs. “Just making it a legal thing.” He smiles. “Yeah, you have my blessing.” We awkwardly hug in our seats.
I start looking at rings online, just to get an idea of what I want and prices when the captain announces our descent into Logan. I take a breath and hope that we are still in time.
After landing and getting into the private car the team sent, we raced through the street of Boston. As we pulled into the entrance of the hospital, I got a message from Jeremy.
Jeremy: they need to do an emergency c-section. They are moving her now.
“Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck!” The car barely stops when I’m running out the door. “For Leia Andrews?” I ask at the nurse's station
“Labor and Delivery 5th floor.”
“Thanks.” I turn to run but the nurse yells. “Sir, I’m sorry but she’s been taken in for an...”
“I know. But she’s my fiancé and I need to get to her.”
“Hang on.” She dials a number and speaks to whomever. She hangs up and grabs a plastic bag with a blue cloth in it. “Follow me.”
She walks as Luke and I follow her. “We already have someone in there with her but since your doctor is a big fan, she’s going to allow two. You need to put this on with the hat, mask and gloves right now.” The elevator opens and we climb in as she pushes for the floor. I pull on the gown and hat and gloves as she ties the straps around me. “Mr. Andrews, I will walk you to the waiting room after to drop off Mr. Barber.“ Luke nods. We get to the floor and see directs me to the right room.
I take a breath and push my way in. “Oh, good, Andy, you made it.” I can hear Dr. Montgomery, but I can’t see her.
“Hey doc.”
“Andy!” I hear the gasp of my girl and see her turn her head to the left. She has tears in her eyes. “You made it.”
“I said I would, my queen.” I look up and see Jeremy in scrubs and a surgical hat on her right. “Thank you.”
“No problem.”
“Alright folks, let’s get this baby out. Scalpel,” Dr. Montgomery orders.
“What happened, baby?” I look at her and the tears silently fall. I lean over and kiss her forehead.
“Her heart rate dropped, and they made me lay on my side to help but it didn’t, so they rushed us over here,” she explains. “I’m sorry Andy, I tried to protect her and...”
“No, sweetheart, you did a fantastic job. Maybe she’s just being difficult, like you.”
Jeremy snorts and then coughs while Leia scoffs. “I am not difficult.”
“And baby is out and it’s a girl,” the doctor calls out. But then it’s silent except for the beeps of the machines.
“She's not crying. Andy, she’s not crying.” The look of panic made her eyes search wildly for her baby.
“I know. Doc?” I saw them move the baby to the incubator that was waiting. She was surrounded by five people, working on my little girl.
“Andy, Leia, the baby is...”
And then we heard it, the most magical, joyous noise you could ever hear.
Our baby crying.
“Oh, thank God,” I said as I pressed a kiss to Leia’s forehead.
“I was going to say, baby was having some difficulty. They are going to take the baby to the PICU for some test and observation. I’m going to stay to close.”
“Can I go with her?” I ask.
“I’m sorry Andy, but until they know she is stable, they won’t allow it right now. But Dr. Peters will keep you updated.”
“I think I am going to step out,” Jeremy said. “Great job mama. I’ll be in the waiting room.” He left and I stayed by Leia’s head.
“She has to be ok, right? She has to be,” Leia kept repeating softly as tears rolled down her face.
I tried to distract her. “Have you decided on a name for the Princess? We can’t keep calling her that or the Baby forever. She’ll get a complex.”
“Shut up,” Leia said a watery giggle. “I really like Nora.”
“I like Avery or Jamie.” I kept running my hand over her cap. “I guess we can wait until we see her.”
I felt Leia tremble. “Are we going to see her?”
“Of course we are. Love, she’s going to be ok. You have to believe that because otherwise, we’re just putting bad juju out there. It's like say, ‘we might win the cup.’ No, we will win the cup. Positivity.”
“If I could move, I would hit you, Andrew Barber.”
We were in the operating room for another thirty minutes and then moved to the recovery room. Leia fell asleep from the pain relievers that she was given, and I was just pacing back and forth, waiting for news on my daughter. An hour later, the pedestrian, came in. “Mr. Barber?”
I turned to him and paled. “Yes?”
“Do you want to wake Mrs. Barber?”
Mrs. Barber. As much as I like the sound of that, it wasn’t the time. “Leia, sweetheart? The baby’s doctor’s is here.” Her eyes fluttered a little and blinked open softly. A smile started to grace her face when the realization of my words hit. Panic filled them but before she could speak, I took her hands. “Everything is ok, please relax.” She nodded and turned to the other man in the room. I sat next to her on the bed and nodded at the doctor.
He smiled. “He’s right. Baby Andrews-Barber is going to be fine.”
It felt like the pressure on my chest lifted and I could breathe for the first time in hours.
“She had some fluid stuck in her mouth, which is why she couldn’t cry. We cleared it, made sure there were no lingering fluid or obstructions. She pinked up as soon as we had her in the PICU. I’m recommending that you both stay here for a couple of days just to make sure.”
“Can we see her?”
“I’m having the nurse bring her in a few minutes. I just want to explain everything before you see her. She does have a tube in her nose and that’s just a precaution for the fluid. We’ll probably remove that tomorrow.”
Leia wept into my side, the stress of everything finally coming to an end. I kissed her head. “Thank you, doctor, so much.”
“My pleasure. I’ll be back to check on her later tonight.” He walked out and I held onto Leia tighter. The door opened again, and a bassinet came through the door with a nurse. “Hi mom and dad. I have someone that would like to meet you.” She pushed the bassinet right next to Leia’s bed. She lifted her out and handed her to Leia. “Just be careful of the line. It's not connected to anything, but we don’t want to pull it out.” She laid the little pink bundle in her arms.
Dark lashes caressed her cheek, espresso color hair peeked from beneath a pink cap. Her pink skin glowed and she had a perfect rosebud pout. She wiggles a little and blinked, displaying Leia’s green eyes copied into her own.
“She’s perfect,” Leia whispered. “Hi baby, we waited for so long for you.“ She kissed her head, “Andy, she’s here.”
“She is.” I wiped at my own eyes. “You did a great job, Leia. She’s beautiful.”
We stared at her for a few minutes before Leia said, “Avery.”
“What?”
“Avery Nora Barber. That’s her name.”
“No Andrews?”
“No, she’s yours, Andy, She’s a Barber.” She held her out to me so I could hold my daughter for the first time. She was light in my arms but all I felt was joy.
And I fell in love.
“Hi Avery, I’m... I’m your daddy.” A tear fell onto her blanket as I realized I would do anything for this tiny human in my arms. That she and her mother were the center of my world without even trying. “Thank you, Leia.”
We spent an hour together before Leia told me to take Avery to meet her uncles. I took her in my arms and went out to the waiting room. When the doors swung open, Luke and Jeremy stood up. "Guys, meet my daughter,” I said with teary pride.
Luke took the bundle and cooed at his niece. Jeremy peeked over his shoulder. “She’s beautiful Andy. Congratulations.”
“Thanks Jer. Fuck, thanks for being here with her.” I shook his hand before I pulled him into a hug. “I was calm because I knew she was in good hands.” I wipe the tears from my eyes. “Wanna hold her, Uncle Jeremy?”
He took the little miracle in his arms. “She’s got her mama’s hair and looks like Leia.” He smiles and kiss her forehead.
“Welcome to the world, Avery Nora Barber.”

WIP tag game!!!
Lamb Loose 👁️👁️ (u know me very well)
(hehe I do know you dear 👀)
so, I will try to use my (nonexistent) pitching abilities to both: 1) introduce new people to what I’m currently working on; and 2) give you (yes you Fifi) some more intel to munch on while you wait for the next update. let’s see how it goes.
1) how it began:
it was a dark and stormy night when I finished the drama Evilive, in mid-November of last year, and I couldn’t sleep. for days I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters and I decided to put my Word of Honor big fic on hold to give this new fandom a chance. the plan was to finish everything around the 80k words mark but.. oh boi. I knew myself. I knew I wasn’t gonna cut it, verbose as I am, so I decided to be diligent about it: I took 1 month to plan this fic at the best of my abilities before I started typing like a maniac on my laptop.
at the end of the month I posted the first chapter and since then I woke up at 5am (almost) every single day to chip away at this project. long story short: it changed my life. not in a big way, it didn’t magically get me a super fancy job or a stable paycheck. none of that. but it made my life significantly better.
because you have to know that, before I decided waking up at 5am was a good idea, I was so used to be dreading the new day that it was messing with my brain. I didn’t want to go to sleep because “then another day would have started” without me enjoying myself even a little bit. but the difference between going to sleep at 3am (to wake at 7) and going to sleep at 11pm (to wake at 5) made me look forward to the new day time and time again. that way, if I manage to fall asleep on the right time every day, I get to start a new morning doing what I love most: writing.
this came at a cost, however, bc apparently waking super early is bad for my blood pressure (?? rude and biphobic of my body to do me so dirty, if you ask me >:/ like.. hello??) and I get (almost daily now) a sensible energy drop around lunchtime but it’s worth it in my book. this fic turned me into an optimist and I’ve always been a realist at best.
cons of this project: the fandom is tiny. so tiny infact that there are not many “work in progress” fics besides mine on ao3 ;—; I remember this being the case for Beyond Evil too, even if I was just a casual reader at the time, back when it first aired: we were starving for new content and I recall translating Korean fanfics into English just to have someto dig my teeth into xD
moreover, I tend not to read for the fandom I’m writing for, because I’m a sponge and (like my friend Amethystina said once) “I don’t want to accidentally steal someone else’s idea” just because I have shit memory (I’ll admit I caved at the beginning of 2024 bc I was in a bad place mentally and I read a couple of one-shots on Evilive, it’s ok, ik. I forgot the majority of them anyway, I just know they were lovely and their authors very smart indeed). so it’s a very lonely process! I churn up content, I don’t consume content, I wait for comments, I joyfully reply to comments and then, if I want more human interaction I have to (*checks*) come up with more content?? ahah. Ik it doesn’t work like that, and that I have to put effort in talking with other people in the fandom for it to become larger.. but this is why I do these tag games :D to engage with other lovely people in fun activities like these! good thing this fic keeps me going, bc I would be lost without it.
the general plot idea comes from a need I wanted to see fulfilled: I wanted to read a story about a group of women going apeshit crazy on the world. no repercussions, absolute power, no remorse. women from different levels of society, different ethnicities, different nationalities, different sexualities just.. being allowed to do whatever they wanted. I wanted to explore the pros and cons of such circumstances and yet I didn’t want it to be merely focused on that alone. I also wanted to point out how every person is capable of evil and that there still needs to be a moment in our life when we choose to be better instead.
one thing that made me side-eye Evilive specifically was.. well, the lack of women. there are 3 adult women in the whole drama taking some sort of role inside the story and all of them felt rich with the implication of a personality underneath, but no actual character to be seen. I love all 3 of them, from the “wife”, to the “mother”, to the “femme fatale” as they are, yet they still are flat compared to the other people in the show, even the more stereotypically evil or corrupt among them. I needed more, so more I made.
in addition to this, I really wanted to write from the point of view of a nasty, selfish man who has been corrupted by power long enough to have forgotten how to be human again. someone who believes they can fix it all by taking revenge on the person who turned them into a monster.. not realizing they had the potential to become a monster all along and never noticed.
Lamb Loose may be a “fix-it” of sorts based on the happenings (and the finale) of Evilive, but I also think it can be some sort of Atonement Arc rather than a Redemption Arc all in all: just because you become self-aware of the evil deeds you’ve put in motion and want to be better now.. doesn’t mean you can redeem yourself for the sorrow you caused. and, sometimes I also like characters who don’t change in their (evil/selfish) ways but somehow still learn to broaden their perspective after meeting new people. restoring one’s trust in humanity is hard, but maybe it can start by looking into our own selves and look for humanity within us first and foremost.
Han Dong Soo as a character seemed the best option for me, even if it is challenging to write from his POV at times. some of the things he thinks and does are truly horrendous to me personally, but it’s a necessary step towards understanding someone as bad as him in my opinion. not to justify his actions, but to learn how to recognize them in other people instead.
there’s also horny thoughts, not gonna lie, but those feel more like an extension of all that Han Dong Soo as a person has repressed along the years. so, in a way, the sexual tension is just another character in the script, unnamed and all-encompassing, but never at the center itself. since Han Dong Soo is also an unreliable narrator, I can play with him and make the reader question everything he is going through at the same time, which is fun to me :)
2) a treat for Fifi bc she was patient and read to this point eheh:
dear, ch16 may not be full of plot-relevant quests but there’s a lot of yearning involved 👀 and I know it’s tough to wait for something more juicy to happen 😥😔 but I’m finally seeing the end of the big draft (working on ch31 now, aiming to finish the whole thing at ch40 ending a ch37 was too optimistic of me apparently ahah) and I promise you it will be absolutely worth it.
sometimes I feel very dejected about this project, bc it’s taking forever and I absolutely want to finish it before the end of the year :(
but your constant support and care are one of the reasons I keep going 💪😤💘 your art is extraordinary in itself, but your enthusiasm for this fic truly has made me appreciate living in the moment and enjoy the process more and more. so thank you dear for always cheering me on and for indulging me with your lovely comments and messages :)
I’ll see you very soon :D (I’ll reply to your comments and DMs as soon as possible! but I wanted to give you a little something today)

Summary: This is a continuation of Yakult and Tobacco, which is post-chapter 704. Part 2 takes place about 3 weeks after the end of Part 1. The Kiheitai meet Otsu and reveal what happened to Tsunpo (Bansai).
a/n: This is my 2nd Gintama fic almost one year after the 1st. I had an idea to continue the story but didn't have it planned from the beginning. You don't have to read the first Yakult and Tobacco to read this one I guess, but this is a definite sequel, and it'd be nice if more people read that too if they haven't already. As I've said before, I hope this isn't too bad. Likes and reblogs are appreciated!
Read Part 1
______
On a particular day, the Yorozuya had no plans or jobs scheduled, and it might’ve been an uneventful day if not for an unexpected visitor.
Shinpachi promptly answered the door after the doorbell rang. “Otsu-chan!” he said excitedly upon seeing who it was. “Come in. How may we help you?”
After everyone was seated, Otsu began by saying, “This might be the strangest request I’ve ever had for you, but I would like your help finding my producer Tsunpo-san.”
“He’s missing?” Gintoki asked.
“It seems like it…But I don’t know for sure. The last time I talked to him was a little over two and a half years ago. He hasn’t answered my calls or texts since then.”
“Hold on. You haven’t heard from him in that long? Sorry if this comes off as judgey–I’m really just trying to understand–but why are you just now trying to find him?”
“The last time Tsunpo-san contacted me was a few weeks before the invasion of the Altana Liberation Army. But when I tried to reach out again when it was over, no response. I didn’t know why he wasn’t responding or what could’ve happened to him. And none of my other colleagues from the music industry knew anything. It just felt like I’d hit a dead end, so I had no choice but to move on.” Otsu turned to look at Shinpachi. “I would’ve asked the Yorozuya for help sooner, but I found out Shinpachi-san was the only one running it for a while and didn’t want to burden him with a complicated problem.”
Shinpachi lowered his head. “I’m sorry, Otsu-chan. I hope we can help you this time, though.”
“It would be great to get some answers.”
Gintoki crossed one leg over the other and said, “So, if we want to get anywhere, we should start with the basics. What did Tsunpo-san look like?”
“I actually never saw his face or met him in person,” Otsu replied sheepishly.
“Oi, doesn’t it sound creepy that this guy wouldn’t show his face?”
Kagura shrugged. “I don’t know, Gin-chan. Think of all the world-famous musicians who wear costumes and masks in public.”
Otsu nodded. “Kagura-san is right. That’s why I never thought anything of it. I just really respected Tsunpo-san’s artistry. We mostly talked on the phone, but the few times we video called, he did wear a kabuki mask if he was on camera. There weren’t many physical traits I could see, but I think his hair was green.”
Gintoki’s eyebrows went up. “Was there anything else that stood out about him? Like speech patterns, behaviors…?”
“Hmm… Oh, yes! He would say gozaru instead of gozaimasu, which made him sound more old-timey. And his favorite instrument was the shamisen.”
Shinpachi considered this for a moment before saying, “Gin-san, are you thinking of the same person? Could it really be him?”
“I’m 99% positive,” Gintoki answered and turned back to Otsu. “Well, the surprisingly good news is I think we have an idea of Tsunpo-san’s real identity, but we need to confirm. Then we’ll be closer to figuring out what happened to him.”
“Really?” Otsu exclaimed, then bowed. “Thank you all so much. I knew I could count on you!”
Everyone stood up, and Kagura led Otsu to the door this time. “We’ll call you when we have an update,” she said.
After Otsu left, the three Yorozuya members contemplated their next move. If Tsunpo, Otsu-chan’s former producer, was really Kawakami Bansai, they’d need to confirm with people close to him.
……
Gintoki called up the Kiheitai, who were still residing in Edo.
“Hello?” Takasugi answered.
“Hey, Takasugi, it’s Gintoki. Listen, I don’t mean to be blunt, but was Bansai-san a producer for the famous pop star Terakado Tsuu?”
There was a pause on the other end, followed by a chuckle. “It’s true,” Takasugi responded. “I’m surprised you finally put two and two together after all this time. But what is this about?”
Gintoki explained the whole situation. “...Now that I’ve confirmed Tsunpo’s real identity and that he’s passed away, I can let Otsu-chan know. However… I feel like people close to him would be more fit to talk about him, so would you guys mind coming down to meet Otsu-chan?”
“Hmm…I don’t know…I’ll have to talk to the others about it and get back to you.”
“Fine by me. I hope you consider it, though. Talk to you later.”
……
Otsu returned to the Yorozuya office the next day after a phone call. This time, though, there were also three new people she’d never met: Takasugi Shinsuke, Kijima Matako, and Takechi Henpeita.
Once introductions were out of the way, it was time to get down to business. Shinsuke started the conversation. “As you already know, we three were friends of Tsunpo, except we knew him by his real name, Kawakami Bansai. And this might come as a shock to you, but he had a different life from what you may expect. You see, we were all members of the Kiheitai, a Jouishishi faction.”
Shinsuke paused to observe her reaction and give her a chance to speak. Otsu’s face was slightly pensive. She said, “To be honest, I did not expect that, but I don’t think I can be angry or disappointed at this point by learning the truth. I’ll always have a good opinion of Tsunpo-san. He recognized my talent and helped me clean up my image when I was at the lowest point of my career. It’s thanks to him that I was able to become one of the top idols of Japan. So he passed away, huh?”
Takasugi frowned slightly. “Yeah, he passed away over two years ago in the war. But he actually died while trying to help save the world, not to destroy it. In fact, we were all there fighting the Altana Liberation Army to save the world. Looking back, I’ll always remember how Bansai believed in us and was a great friend. You should also be glad to know that music really had been a big part of his personality.”
There was a moment of silence. Finally, Shinpachi spoke up. “Bansai-san seemed like a really cool person. He was actually nice to be around at that time we were all on Rakuyou. And to think I was talking to the producer of my favorite idol and had no idea?”
Kagura smirked. “You would’ve definitely been geeking out, Pattsan.”
Otsu smiled gently. “It’s comforting to hear that Bansai-san was a good person. But I’m still sad he’s gone, even though I’d already mentally prepared myself for the worst scenario. Besides the songs he made for me, I don’t have anything else to remember him by…”
After just listening up to this point, Matako said, “You don’t need to feel so bad. We’re almost in the exact same boat as you. You see, it wasn’t possible for us to collect any of Bansai-senpai’s belongings after the war.”
“But there may still be a way to find some of Bansai-dono’s things,” Henpeita pointed out. “As the three of us know, the Kiheitai had many different hideouts. Remember, there was at least one used by Bansai-dono if he came to Edo by himself. It was actually a condo he bought, so anything he left there may still be there. The HOA couldn’t have moved his things out despite being dead either, since he also set up automatic payments for his condo fees.”
Matako raised an eyebrow. “Did Bansai-senpai tell you that?”
Henpeita bobbed his head. “It just came up in conversation one day. Those producer royalty checks are something else.”
Takasugi chuckled.
Gintoki clapped his hands once and stood up. “Then it’s settled! You Kiheitai people can go over there and see what you can find. Please bring something back for Otsu-chan to remember Tsunpo-san by.” He looked at Otsu. “If that’s what you’d like?”
Otsu looked at the Kiheitai. “I wouldn’t mind, if it’s not too much trouble…”
Takasugi stood up, followed by the other two. “Even though this wasn’t part of the original deal…” he said looking at Gintoki, then turned to Otsu, “we’ll do it.”
……
Finding the condo building and even the individual unit wasn’t very hard at all since the Kiheitai had been in the practice of keeping track of its members’ whereabouts and its hideout locations for safety and other reasons. Bansai being Shinsuke’s 2nd in command was no exception. The hardest part was probably flagging down a taxi to get from Kabukicho to the condo.
Upon arrival, they just walked right in casually and went for the elevator. On the way up to the 22nd floor, it was silent at first until Takechi said, “Remember how I told you that while I was visiting a dragon hole, I heard a rumor that the Harusame was starting to go around collecting Altana crystals from all over the world?”
“Did the rumor end up being true?” Takasugi asked.
“Yes. In fact, I heard directly from Kamui-san the other day. He says he’s glad you’re alive, Shinsuke-dono. Apparently, they’re trying to make hair growth products from the Altana. Kamui-san got the idea from his father. The Harusame has become quite poor with no major backings, so they want to go into new ventures. He says their plan is to become a 90% legal business.”
Matako scoffed. “Just 90%?”
“You know what they say,” Shinsuke chimed in, “old habits die hard.”
They got out on the 22nd floor and walked down the hallway in silence until they found the door. Instead of a keyhole, there was a keypad lock. Shinsuke punched in what he thought he remembered the code as.
Click.
He turned the handle, and lucky for them, the door opened.
The apartment inside wasn’t exorbitantly fancy but definitely still more upscale than cheap. There was a computer in one corner with a printer, basic producing equipment and electric keyboard, and a few feet away, an acoustic guitar sitting on a stand.
Matako picked up the guitar. “I think Otsu-chan would like this guitar.”
Shinsuke nodded as he looked around. They could technically leave now that they had something, but he didn’t feel quite ready.
“It’s not as dusty as I expected,” Shinsuke remarked. “Housekeeping must still come.”
“What are we gonna do with this place?” Matako wondered. “It was mostly just Bansai-senpai’s, and he’s gone now.”
“We can’t take everything, but we can grab a few more personal items, then notify management of this resident’s passing, and they’ll take care of the rest probably.”
Shinsuke noticed Takechi was sitting at the computer clicking around. He went to stand next to him to get a closer look for himself. There appeared to be mostly mp3 files and an icon for FL Studio, a digital audio workstation, on the home screen, which wasn’t that surprising. But one thing caught his eye.
“Can you click on that?” Shinsuke instructed, pointing to where he wanted Takechi to go.
Takechi did what he was asked, and a window popped up with a picture.
“I didn’t know he took this,” Matako commented. It was a picture of the four of them having dinner at one of the hideouts. Besides Bansai flashing a peace sign for the camera, it was a completely candid photo. Behind Bansai on one side, Matako and Henpeita appeared to be arguing over something. On the other side, Shinsuke was picking up a piece of food with a smirk.
“We were actually a really good team,” she said. “I’m just glad we can at least be together like this again.”
Shinsuke turned his head for a second to look at her sympathetically. “I know the Kiheitai’s been through a lot in the past couple years, but I promise things will be different now.”
Matako smiled. “We can finally make a memorial for Bansai-senpai, huh?”
“Do you want me to print out the picture?” Takechi asked. “Hopefully it’s not out of ink. We’ve somehow been really lucky so far today.”
“Go ahead,” Takasugi said. “Print two copies while you’re at it.”
They decided to leave with the guitar, the printed photos, and a pair of headphones that looked similar to Bansai’s main pair. After the photos were printed out, Takasugi told Takechi to delete the file from the computer. He just didn’t want a picture of them floating around for any random person coming after to see since they weren’t going to take the computer.
……
The Kiheitai ended up going back to the Yorozuya that same day to deliver the items. Gintoki then called up Otsu, and they waited until she arrived.
“Wow, you guys are fast!” she remarked.
“We found this guitar and these headphones,” Matako said. “Which one of them do you want?”
“Hmm…The guitar!”
Matako handed it off to her.
Otsu bowed. “Thank you, I’ll treasure it always.”
Takasugi pulled out one of the printed photos. “Here’s a picture of Bansai we found, too. Now you’ll finally know what he looked like.”
Otsu took the picture, and her eyebrows went up. Without taking her eyes off it, she said, “Wow, he definitely looks like the artist type. I’d expect nothing less from someone cool like Tsunpo-san…He was also quite handsome.” Now she was blushing slightly.
Shinpachi gasped dramatically in the back.
“You can keep the picture,” Shinsuke told her. “We have our own copy.”
“Thank you all again for helping me. It means so much that I could finally get some closure.” Otsu reached into her purse and took out some money, giving it to him.
Shinsuke raised his eyebrows, then smiled. “Thank you.”
Otsu stood up and gave money to Gintoki, too, who was more than happy to accept. “Well, I better be heading out.” She picked up the guitar. “I now have some new inspiration and a new perspective, and I’m ready to channel it into a song!”
……
Later that day while back at their house, the Kiheitai finished putting together a simple memorial/shrine for Bansai and were now burning incense. On a small table, the picture was now in a frame, with the headphones laying in front of the picture and a vase of incense sticks to the side.
None of the members were particularly religious, but paying their respects to the dead still felt appropriate as a ritual. They each put their hands together and bowed their heads.
After a minute, Matako asked, “Shinsuke-sama, do you know if there’s an afterlife?”
Takasugi shrugged. “In all seriousness, I still don’t know despite literally coming back from the dead. I actually don’t remember anything in between dying and being reborn. After experiencing that, I’d be fine to just wait a long time before learning the answer.”
“I suppose we won’t know for certain until it’s truly our time,” Takechi said.
Matako smirked at him. “I think the lolicon is definitely going to hell,” she grumbled.
“I’m not a lolicon, I’m a feminist.”
……
The next morning, Shinsuke and Matako were sitting outside on the veranda after breakfast to enjoy the refreshing weather. Shinsuke also was smoking his kiseru.
Henpeita came outside and said, “I finished talking to the apartment management about the death of their resident. They seemed understandably shocked yet also sad. Of course, I had to change a few details of the story…They don’t need us for anything else because we weren’t his relatives, but they told me they’d cancel his account and thanked me for notifying them.”
“Thanks for doing that, Takechi,” Shinsuke said. “Now, I’d actually like to make a call to Kamui. I’ve been thinking about what he told you, and I’m intrigued. Maybe we can be involved in some way to help.”
Matako leaned forward. “Shinsuke-sama, what kind of involvement do you have in mind? Please tell me we’ll stay away from anything too sketchy. Compared to the Harusame, even we looked like saints.”
He blew out some smoke, then locked eyes with her as he said, “I promise. I plan on asserting our boundaries and staying on the 90% legal side. We’ll all have a say in the matter.”
Matako nodded. “Okay, that’s reassuring.”
Shinsuke took a final hit from his pipe. “Anyway…I’m gonna call him now.” With that, he stood up and went inside.
Henpeita sat down. “I look forward to what that man has in mind.”
“Let’s see where we go this time.”

On a Sweet Night, Be My Lucky Star (01)
Pairing : VampireTaehyung x WitchReader x DemonJungkook
Genre: Supernatural, Smut, Angst, a little of violence,Fluff (I'll try go with all lmao)
Serie: (still don't know how many longer will be, like chapters, but I'm going to make you enjoy it),about updates (there's will be not a specific day to update, *wink).
This will be my first fanfic here, English It's not my first language, so, if you have any suggestion I'll try it🏃🏻♀️.
Teaser (if you want to see it) CH02
"Darling, here's a present for you" I saw my grandmother with a small purple bag in her wrinkled hands.
"What is this grandma?" I asked looking at her curiously
"It's a quartz, it will protect you from everything bad" she replied.
I looked at the orange quartz sticking out of my grandmother's fingers, before I received it, everything went dark.
"Grandma?" I whispered looking for her.
I saw a dark shadow pointing at me, water was surrounding me.
I wake up shaken from sleep, looking around, looking for my phone to see the time, 5:55 A.M.
"Well Sunhee, time to start the day" I yawn to look at my dog sleeping comfortably in her bed.
I head towards the bathroom to shower, already dressed, I decide to eat breakfast on the way, I head downstairs grabbing my stuff stuff stuffing it in my bag. I grab my keys, open the door to find Jin. He is my best friend, he has a popular restaurant in town, human, I would say immortal because at 26 years old, he doesn't look that age.
"Jinnie, it's too early for you to open the restaurant, what brings you here?" I ask with an innocent tone.
"You know why I'm here, since lately you go to work without breakfast, I make you breakfast, Yah what a brat you are" he furrows his eyebrows a little.
"So considerate, thank you but I don't need it" I chuckle.
"Sure you do, remind you of the last time you were in the hospital? Besides my food is the best" He strikes a funny pose, where they both end up laughing.
"I'll still have my morning coffee," I say.
"Sure, your caffeine routine I won't take it away, then you get mad at penguin" he laughs squeezing my cheeks.
"Just because you're taller, doesn't give you the right to make fun of me, ugly" I run to my car before he chases after me.
"Who do you think you're talking to? and you can't leave without me" he climbs into the passenger seat, holding my breakfast steady in his hands.
"You started it!" I yell
"Don't you recognize a good joke? you're too sensitive" he rolls his eyes.
" Well, here I leave you, good luck today, I will come at 8, today I want sushi" I mention opening the door and getting out of the car to say goodbye to him.
"Again?, don't stress today, are they going to interview someone new?" he gets out of the car, arranging his clothes.
"Well you pick the food, yes, we need someone at the planning station" I sigh hugging him.
"Everything will be fine, today will be a great day" He pats me on the head before turning and opening the doors to his restaurant, I turn around to go to the company.
I enter the company walking slowly, receiving the good morning greetings from everyone there.
"Excuse me, boss."
I turn to see where the voice is coming from, it's from my receptionist, Lisa, an elf very good at her job.
"Do you need anything?" I ask her
"My mother just died, would you give me 3 days off?" she murmurs.
"Sure, be careful" I hug her before heading to the elevator.
As the elevator doors open, my secretary, Soyeon is revealed with some folders in her hands.
"There's already the new guy for the interview" she mentions bowing giving a smirk.
"Is there something funny I should know about?" I arch an eyebrow.
"It's nothing, it's just, the kid's a nervous wreck" she mutters.
"Oh come on, we were all like that for our first interview, I remember I kept fidgeting in my chair, and I couldn't find something to look at" I chuckle with embarrassment.
"That must have been cute to see, and funny" We both burst out laughing. "Well, I'll go set up the meetings, you should go to your office, I'll send the boy over" She smiles before turning away.
I walk to my office, take a seat in the swivel chair, taking the folder on the table, I swivel in the chair for a while until there is a knock on the door.
"Come in" I say in a loud voice.
"Good morning, my name is Hoshi, I come for the interview" He mumbles with blushing cheeks.
"Have a seat, so you know what the position is about right?" I look at him intently which makes him shrink a little.
"Yes ma'am, I have been a scholarship holder from the best university in seoul, I would like to put my acquired knowledge into this job" He smiles shyly.
"Good, I will give you a week trial, show your skills" I stretch my hand which is taken by his, he smiles brightly before standing up and bowing.
"Thank you very much, you won't regret it" He leaves the office, with instructions to ask Soyeon for an induction.
I'm in the boardroom, surrounded by partners, we're brainstorming new ideas. 4pm and my eyes are going, a migraine is coming on.
"Well gentlemen, any suggestions you can send them with my assistant Soyeon or to my mail" I smile to go straight to my office, I throw myself on the couch to close my eyes.
"girl, it's 7:30, aren't you going to look for Jin?" I hear Soyeon say
"later, I'm sleepy" I mumble
"I have no other choice" She pulls me from the sofa making me fall on the floor.
"Ouch!" my eyes pop open, I stand up with a frown, wave my hand as a sign that I'm saying goodbye and go to the car.
I turn on the radio to listen to some news, the same old news, fighting over clans, for context.
A long time ago there were fights between different types of species, each with their life partner or destiny, nowadays, even though we live comfortably, there are some types of "clans" that refuse to believe that life partners of different species are not equal to the same (type, an elf with a troll to say something). But clarifying that, being a witch, I have learned to live without a companion, I have my best friend Jin.
"Where's my omma?" I ask getting out of the car walking into the restaurant. "Yah! You know you shouldn't talk like that" Jin mentions, I managed to dodge the incoming punch.
"Come on now! It's funny anyway, it's almost eight o'clock, are you closing up? Remember that tomorrow you will accompany me to Paris" I wink at him.
I usually focus on work although lately I've been tired, I'm CEO of 5 companies, I took 2 weeks off, since Jin's birthday is coming up, and I thought I'd treat us to a trip.
"Yeah, just let me lock up" He mentions taking off his apron, looking for the keys. At that, we hear the door open and see a gray wolf. "Jin?" I say, "What...?" he replies.
Before we can say anything the wolf falls to the ground, we approach him, we see his ribs sticking out with a bruise on top of them. I carefully move him with telekinesis to one of the nearest tables.
"My tablecloth-" Jin reproaches.
"I'll give you a new one, it needs to be healed" I glare at him.
I start to heal it with magic, the bruise was slowly disappearing, sounds of rain were coming from outside, we exchanged glances.
"Let's go before the weather gets worse" I look at Jin "But you're carrying him" he says.
We get in the car, I put on soft music, almost getting home we hear a growl behind us.
"Y/n I think he's awake" Jin whispers.
I look through the mirror to see the wolf's eyes analyzing both of us, I decide to speak as I look back to the road.
"I heal you, you must be hungry, surely there is something you can eat, jin will prepare something for us right?" i look at him.
"Sure, I could make bibimbap" he smiles slightly.
The wolf decides to lie down as soon as we get to the house. We get out of the car, as we enter I get sunhee jumping into my arms, the wolf snorts.
"I'll be in my room, let me know when the food is ready?" i say before yawning, releasing sunhee on the floor.
"Sure, and take a bath you smell nasty" Jin laughs.
"liar!" i go upstairs to lie down on the bed. I close my eyes, falling asleep, when I feel water being poured on me.
"Food is served downstairs!" i see jin running, i go after him. As I sit up, I see the wolf still being cutelicious, he's finished his meal.
"Everything ok? if you have nowhere to stay, you can stay with us, well, in my house, there are many rooms" I smile, he looks at me with astonishment after going to lie down on the sofa.
"Hey are you calling me poor?" Jin frowns.
"Of course not, otherwise I wouldn't put up with your ugly jokes "I grimace.
"Oh come on, you have no sense of humor, sourpuss" he mentions.
"Yes I do, right I do sunhee? come on let's go to sleep" I hold sunhee in my arms, bowing. "Rest"
"Well I'll go to sleep buddy, see you tomorrow" Jin mumbles.
With the lights off, the wolf turns into a man, he goes through rooms to take a bath, he found a library with a big purple armchair, plants adorning the ceiling, even though he still didn't trust them, he could rest well, just like before.
The next morning, the wolf fell asleep in the library, he had found some old clothes, so he put them on and went downstairs to make himself a cup of coffee. What he didn't expect was that Jin was in the kitchen.
"Y/NNNNNNNNNNNNN!" Jin yells out.
"Hey man calm down, I'm the wolf, my name is Namjoon" he bowed.
I walk down the stairs with the sheet wrapped around me.
"Why are you guys making noise so early in the morning" I complains
"Because he appears just like that" Jin mentions pointing Namjoon up and down.
"It's normal, I'm a hybrid" Nam shrugs, turning around to make himself a coffee.
"Well, we have to get used to it, we have to buy him clothes too" I walk over to Nam. "Let me have some coffee please, and Jin, it smells burnt"
"Go ahead, it's your house anyway" Nam takes his cup of coffee to sit at the table.
"My pancakes! Can't you use magic and redo them?" Jin complains.
"Oh come on! It should be for life and death situations" I mentions
"This is life or death! It's our food!" he shakes me.
"Well well, next time we can make dumplings" I wiggled my fingers making the pancakes perfectly cooked. We hear the light laughter coming from Nam.
My phone vibrates, it's Soyeon.
"Hey girl, how's it going? You know they have a flight today right?"she mentions. "Shit, I knew something had to be done, wait" I hang up quickly to turn around to see the guys.
"Well Nam, I scheduled a trip for me and Jin since his Birthday is coming up, it's today, but I don't know if you would be ok here alone, and Jin, would you agree for him to come?" I look at them waiting for an answer.
"For me, no problem" Jin looks at Nam.
"I don't know, I don't want to cause any trouble, besides isn't it your gift for him?" he purses his lips a little bit
"Yes, but you can also see it as an opportunity to buy clothes and have fun, then" I pat sunhee who is beside me.
"That's okay, I guess it'll be fun" he murmurs.
I call Soyeon to tell him to tell the driver that someone else is coming, then chat with Elizabeth, an old friend.
Crazy witch🐙: Hey bitch, are you there?
The Coolest :Taking care of Sunhee? Why not Flor¿😯
Crazy witch🐙:Because I love you and you love me😁
The Coolest👾 : Well, leave her to Shiro😪
Crazy witch🐙:Are you still in the fashion show?👀
The Coolest👾 :Yes, Flor mentions if we can make a camping trip soon.😶🌫️
Crazy witch🐙:Sure when I get back from Paris✈️
"Are you done yet?" Namjoon appears behind me.
"Man, take it easy, you scared me" I put one hand on my chest.
"I'm sorry, but Jin is already out with the bags, I've already bathed, I'm changed but you're missing" he smiles apologetically.
"Yes I'm coming, get in the driver's car when I arrive, I won't be late" I snort to go upstairs to take a cold bath, I decide to wear a jean skirt with a grey croptop with flowers on it and my boots. I walk over to the mirror I have, I hear a car beep.
"I'm coming!" I yell to grab my purse, I put on a knitted beret my grandmother made me, the quartz necklace, and my holographic earrings. I walk downstairs to see Mr. Lee greeting me.
"How are you Miss?" Between his light wrinkles I see a warm smile. "Ready for a break, how have you and your family been?" I ask tapping his shoulder.
"Very well, now come on upstairs it will be late" he opens the door for me.
"Girl, what took you so long?" Jin asked.
"Wait! Sunhee, god I almost forgot" I quickly get off to look for Sunhee and her things, I get back on next to her. "Mr. Lee, how much time do you pray you have? I have to leave sunhee with Elizabeth" I look at him.
He puts on a pair of dark glasses before saying "Hold on tight".
"Why leave her with that Elizabeth?" Nam asks.
"Because she is a friend we are like family, she is a demon, besides sunhee if I leave her alone at home she makes disasters, believe me, she has eaten the socket protectors, sometimes I feel like she is immortal" I sigh.
"She's mommy's baby" Jin speaks in a baby tone.
"Obvious" We all laugh
"Ready, here we are" Mr. Lee mentions.
"Thanks, I'll be right back" I get out of the car carrying sunhee.
Knock Knock
The door opens, a guy in pajamas gets out.
"Hey Y/N, long time no see" he greets
"Don't get excited Shiro, I talked to Elizabeth, she's going to do me the favor of watching Sunhee until I get back from paris" I hand him Sunhee's things, and her leash. "You know her schedule, good luck, and don't let her eat socks!" I turn around to run to the car, get in it.
"Ready, let's go" I smile. "I'm going to call my aunt Jessi to let her know, I haven't seen her in a while."
"You become an old lady when you talk to her" Jin laughs.
"Oh come on" Before I dial my aunt, an incoming call from my mom interrupts.
"Hi ma, how's your vacation going?" I ask her.
"Wonderful here in Jeju with Goonie" She says.
"Ugh, too much sugar ma, I'm going to Paris with Jin, and a new friend, I plan to stop by my aunt Jessi's house" She laughs a little bit
"New friend? Who is it?" she speaks in a mocking tone.
"Not like that! it's not my destiny, we've already talked about it" I mumble, watching Jin and Nam talk.
"I know, but I want to see you happy, and I want grandchildren" She speaks excitedly.
"Don't even think, I'm going to cut myself the-" she interrupts me.
"Watch your language, assface" We laugh.
"Here we are" I hear Mr. Lee
"See you later ma, kisses" I hang up to grab my stuff and look for the private jet, Nam's eyes widen like saucers. "I'm humble" We laugh lightly.
Getting on the plane, I almost fall to the ground. I hear the laughter behind me. "How rude not to help a lady" I pout, they look at each other and sit on the plane's couch, putting on seat belts.
"I brought cards" Jin says
"I don't remember the rules well. Namjoon scratches the back of his head.
"You ignore me? fine, I'll go to sleep, please wake me up when we arrive" I go to bed indignant.
"ONE!" shouts Jin
"Man, I'm bad at this" Namjoon sighs.
"It's lack of practice" Jin shrugs his shoulders.
"Fine, I'll show you how to play" I get up from the bed
"Weren't you sleeping?" Jin asks
"I couldn't, give me space". He gives me a space to sit between them. "Thank you."
After 4 rounds in a row, I won.
"NOOO, treacherous" Jin complains.
"I guess I'll win someday" Nam laughs.
"We have arrived at your destination" I hear the voice in the jet, as it slowly lands.
"Let's go!" I get up running excitedly.
"So fast" Nam asks.
I say goodbye to the jet driver to find the chauffeur who will drop us all off at my aunt's house.
"Bonjour, Madame" The chauffeur greets me.
"Bonjour! Take us to my aunt please" I smile, looking around the airport.
"With pleasure, Madame" Smiles the chauffeur.
After 15 minutes we arrive at the house. I knock on the door.
"Girl, long time no see" My aunt hugs me.
"Princess!" My uncle joins us in the hug.
The hug is undone, because my uncles go to greet Jin, Namjoon just looks, I signal him to come in, my uncles look at him.
" this is Namjoon, new friend" Nam bows with a shy smile.
"Welcome to the family, Namjoon" My uncle smiles.
"Thank you" Nam replies shyly
"Well, where is Haerin?" I ask.
"Well, she's coming soon, she said he has a surprise, I guess, do you want coffee?" my aunt asks.
"I do, you know I can't refuse coffee" I smiled.
"Could I make myself a tea?" Jin asked.
"Go ahead dear, I don't know why you don't want coffee" my aunt laughs.
"I do want some" Namjoon mentions.
"Let's settle them upstairs boy" . My uncle lifts my suitcase, Namjoon follows him with the other suitcases in his hands, they lose sight of each other on the stairs.
"So where are you coming from?" uncle asks.
"From the mountains, north side, it was just me and dad" Namjoon mumbles somewhat nostalgically.
"Oh boy, I'm sorry, but look here we always have room for more" tio slipped his arm behind Nam's neck to hug him. Let's go downstairs and then the fire gets cold.
The door opened revealing Haerin with her boyfriend Heechul, they were laughing, until Haerin saw me, she runs to hug me.
"You're choking me, help-" I move into his arms.
"Didn't you miss me? You don't call me" She says in a childish voice"
"Well you don't answer either" I frown.
"We're even" We laugh. "Mom!, Dad, I missed you" she comes over to hug them.
I see Jin with two cups in his hands, he walks over to me, then walks over to Nam to give it to us.
"You didn't pour anything in it, did you?" I ask holding back laughter.
"YAH! Aunt Choi say something to her!" Jin complains.
"You're all grown up kids, anyway, let Haerin tell the news" My aunt smiles, we all take a seat.
"Ready honey?" Haerin asks Heechul who nods. "We're getting married! and there's a surprise coming" this last she mumbles.
"What the-" My uncle turns pale.
"He's getting his blood pressure down" I say running into the living room.
"Congratulations daughter, you know how dramatic your father is" My aunt hugs them.
"Congratulations!" Jin says, elbowing Nam who is concentrating on drinking his coffee.
"Congratulations" Nam mentions
"Well, we should have a party before we go" My aunt mentions, handing a glass of water to my uncle.
"Leave?" asks Jin
"Yes, we are going on a trip" My aunt smiles.
"When?" I ask
"Tomorrow morning" manages to answer my uncle.
"Shall I order food?" asks Haerin
"I can get the drinks" I mention.
"I think there is a store near here" Heechul mentions.
"Well, anyone coming or?" Nam steps forward, we grab our coats to go.

Hi Lady monotone! Hope you’re doing well. 💜 anyways I always wonder about your opinion of how Castin and Celica would act on a normal day-to-day basis (would they bicker?would they be lovey doves on a regular basis?would they even have time to interact?) I’d like to know your thoughts on the matter thank you!
.
(P.S your writing is impeccable 🥹 thank you for feeding us)
I'm doing well, thank you for asking, Anon~ I hope you're doing well yourself.
Ah, Castin and Celica's daily routine, eh? Huh. I've never really thought about it in detail. Now it's as good a time as any to explore what that is!
So, right off, these two are not gonna have normal work hours. A Baroness and a Military Commander can't just take their title out of their lives when the sun goes down for the day. It's just not realistic.
We all know that the Baroness is super busy, realistically? I kinda see that Castin is the same. Yeah, sure, there's no war anymore (technically), but the rebels are still out there, and tension between Intacian and the Empire is still going on strong. Most people see this as a ceasefire rather than peace, so our characters still have a lot of work to do. Oh! We can't forget about the prejudice now, can we?
But that's an issue for another time.
Since Celica and Castin are always busy with their respective duties, the two will always make the most of it whenever they're together, such as waking up in the morning. More often than not, it's a blessing. The two would sometimes have sawft sex, and Castin will always try to persuade Celica to bathe with him, but he'll always get denied nfdjksfadsf. Then it's breakfast time! The last activity that the two will do together before they go their separate ways. The couple will exchange their plans for the day and Celica will kiss her husband at least thrice before he finally goes off.
Celica's schedule:
Catching up with her duties as Baroness first. That means keeping up with correspondents from the Empire. Check through weekly mining reports of gemstones. Keep track of all of her investments, domestic and international. Request results and updates from various welfare projects. Allocating budgets for NEW welfare projects, charities, and other necessities.
Then it's lunchtime! If Castin is not around, she usually has it on the balcony of her office. Ezekiel will remain inside in case she needs anything. If Castin is around, she'll let him choose where they're gonna eat as long as it doesn't take up more than 3 hours (yes, she's very strict about this).
After lunch, she focuses on her duties as Queen Isolde's adviser. She has to keep up with Parliamant; watch for any extreme reactions or malicious intentions from Intacian nobles and generals. Find out what industries and in what sector Intacia needs major improvement like road works, education, farming & etc. Established her footing within the underbelly of the country so she could gather intelligence against those who opposed King Rhett and Queen Isolde. Lastly, ensure that the team that teaches the royal couple etiquette did their job correctly.
Now it's tea time. Celica would still continue working while munching on some scones.
Then it's dinner time! Again, if Castin is around, they'd have dinner together. They would try not to talk about their work and instead plan what they want to do together on the weekend. Going on dates, visiting various towns for the thrill of it, going shopping, staying in and just binge-watching movies, going riding; whatever!
Now Celica is preparing to retire for the day. She'll bathe with Castin, and the rest of the night is theirs, but if he's not around, Celica will go over any leftover work from earlier while the maids prepare her for bed. This usually means she'll stay up until midnight.
But if she needs to prepare something important the next day, like hosting a ball or traveling back to the Empire, then she won't sleep.
Castin's schedule:
Now, Castin's daily routines are a lot more flexible. He'll train with his men, new recruits, and other generals. Take stock of their inventory, their weapons and armours. Catch up with his generals for anything suspicious or urgent that needs his attention like the security of the Intacian Palace and any rebel movements.
Then it's lunchtime! Same thing applies to Celica applies her except Castin hates breaking bread alone so he'll hang out with his men.
Now it's time for Castin to head for patrol. He'll travel to nearby cities and check in with the guards and policemen if they need anything. He'll keep his ears on the ground for any malicious rumour or gossip regarding any uprisings. His other generals have the same duties as well as they are instructed to visit other towns and villages.
Castin is not big on tea time though his break consists of amusing himself by either noting down things that remind him of Celica or looking for cafes that he wants to bring her to.
It's dinner time! If he can make it back home, he'll have a meal with the Baroness, wowing her with his time outside but if he's tracking down criminals or rebels, he'll eat with his men again.
Bedtime differs with circumstances. He'll bathe with Celica, and the two will have multiple rounds of sex - until he's certain that his wife will sleep 'till the morning afterward. But if he's out of the manor, he'll stargaze for a few hours before going to bed.
...And yeah! I think that's it for now. Realistically, these two barely interacts because of how busy they are but they still make it work! Still carve out time for each other and make sure the other isn't burn out or hurt after long days of non-stop working.
Also, I'm really happy that you enjoy my writings, Anon. I made it with love after all dsnfkjnsdkjfnds You're very kind.

fav wolfstar fics?? yes i’m looking for new reccs and i’m also rlly curious
omgggg i have so many how can i chooseee 🫢 i feel like a lot of these are staples so you might’ve already read them but here are my all time favs (in no particular order except Blends/Names is absolutely my #1)
Blends (and the WIP sequel Names) by rvltn909
ugh such an OG & one of the first wolfstar fics i remember reading!! one thing ab me is i’m going to absolutely devour a coffee shop AU. throw in a university AU on top of it?? bitch i’m seated. because this was my first wolfstar fic i feel like these characterizations are the blueprint, every other remus & sirius are knockoffs of these two. this remus is just like me fr i love him & his stupid little angry self-loathing anxious brain so bad. also the sirius POV in Names is to die for, mans just won’t stop talking i love him sm
A Black Mass Over Highway Ninety by greenvlvetcouch
oh my GOD i subscribed to this one when green posted like chapter four?? or five?? and legitimately screamed my head off every time i got the emails. like i was blowing off work and reading ao3 on the job when this shit updated. i love toxic codependent wolfstar so bad i ate this up like a dying man i’m so serious i’ve already reread it once since it was completed like two weeks ago lmfao, every new thing green posts i make it my new religion
Impossible Things by accioromulus
this one ojhmygod i feel like i reread it about once every three months. they are so 🤲 jdhffhfh god i love losers who pine so bad they feel on the verge of death
Beneath a Big Blue Sky by eyra
i reread this like??? once every two months??? everything eyra writes is in my bookmarks bc i love their work so so much but this one in particular gets lodged in my brain so bad omfg. this remus is my sweet precious grumpy little angel and this sirius is so sweet and soft and caring he makes me cry?? Hollow Places is my other fav from this author, their writing style just makes my brain buzz in the best way, they are a huge huge inspo for me
Hard to Find by accioromulus
another one of the first i remember reading! little summer road trip with a big ole side of pining and yearning and sharing a lil couch to sleep?? yes please. the banter between the four boys is my favvvv in this one, they are so stupid and dumb i love them
LIEBESTRAUMMMM OH MY GOD by lunchbucket
there are exactly two (2) exes getting back together fics i can stomach and this is one of them. this remus & me are the same person i think, reading his journey throughout this fic was sort of healing in a way?? i initially started it bc i’ve played piano my entire life and love a lil music AU moment, but this fic genuinely revived my love for classical music and liszt’s compositions in particular. it is a masterpiece
Staying Strangers by 3amAndCounting
i am not kidding i’ve been subscribed to this fic since like??? the 10th chapter? i pride myself in having been on board w this one before everyone else lmfao. this is literally the only ‘texting fic’ i’ve genuinely loved, these characterizations are so sweet and perfect and i will protect this sirius w my entire life 🤺
This Is Not Your Year by montparnasse
i think this is the only canon-compliant in my entire ao3 bookmarks bc i enjoy being delusional and i require a happy ending or i will d*e. however comma, i cannot overstate how much i LOVE this one. this writing is absolutely devastating oh my god i’m not an angst person (re: delusional) and this one is so angsty but ugjshfjffj it’s so gritty and real and raw and it makes my heart ACHE for them
note: i am about to embark on a journey and start crimson rivers. i’ve avoided it since like last summer bc i wanted to wait until it was completed but then it turned into a 700k beast, so here we are. i am not (!!!!) a jegulus person but what i’ve seen of this fic is so so good so i’m going to do it for the wolfstar & bc i’m a hunger games stan
tyyy for the ask!! i always love reading other people’s recs but i’ve never made a list myself, this was very fun

It's WIP Wednesday again!
Alright, the tag game didn't work super great either, but that's okay. I got one person to play and they've got a really cool webcomic wip so it's all good lol
So, no art wips this week, but I do have an announcement.
The first chapter of To Catch a Hedgehog will be posted on AO3 next Thursday (probably after I get home from taking my chemistry exam)! After that, until such a time as it has been completely finished, I will update monthly, on the 1st of each month. I'm super excited to share this fic with all of you, and I hope you enjoy it! If you're looking forward to it, mark your calendars for February 1st! ^^
Now, here's this week's tag (go follow them, they're really cool) @deadrabbithq
And here's this week's progress! (that I totally didn't do late last night nope)
Shadow: "Sure. Let's go with that."
Shadow: "On another note, how attached to your job are you?"
Rouge: "0_0"
Rouge: "Nah, I'm sitting this one out. You have fun. I'll try and cover your tracks."
Shadow: "I didn't ask you to do that."
Rouge: "You asked me if I was willing to be fired. I'm not. I'm compromising."
Shadow: "Fair enough."
There was another chime, and a new email address appeared in his inbox. No profile picture. The name was a string of nonsensical numbers and letters.
yy783y7hhuqq7ht: "Would have come up with something cooler if my roommate had let me but oh well. It's me."
Shadow rolled his eyes before he replied.
Shadow: "What would you have come up with?"
Sonic: "idk, fastest.thing.alive? Oh, wait... fuck, that's my ex's email. DAMN IT WHY'D HE TAKE THE COOL ONE?"
Shadow bit back a laugh as another message from Rouge came through.
Rouge: "Look, just be careful, okay? It's not just losing your job you'll have to worry about."
Shadow: "I know."
He closed the window with their chat and turned his focus back to Sonic.
Shadow: "Anyway, who is it that's gone completely 'Netic?"
Sonic: "...Alright, here's an idea. It would be easier if I showed you. But since I can't trust you not to try and shoot my brains out, you come unarmed, and I bring back-up."
Shadow: "Alright... but come where?"
Sonic: "The Mobius Strip. It's an Xtreme racing track. I used to race there not too long ago."
Shadow: "Why did you stop?"
Sonic: "Eh, dated a guy I met there for a little while, but he's just kind of a douche, so I try to avoid him."
Shadow recalled the green-feathered hawk he'd seen talking to Sonic the night he followed him and Knuckles down to Station Square, and his quills stood in revulsion as he shuddered. If that was who he thought he was, he could see why Sonic would want nothing to do with him.
Shadow: "Do you miss it?"
Sonic: "Well, yeah, I guess... It was decent money for me too. But I couldn't trust that he wouldn't sabotage me because we broke up, so I cut my losses..."
Shadow: "I take it you won quite a bit then? Or were you a foul player?"
Sonic: ">:( Rude, man. I race fair and square. Not my fault I'm aerodynamic."
Shadow: "I've seen you on your gear. That's abnormally fast."
Sonic: "Okay, yes, but that was after I quit. I had a friend juice it up for me. Better for running from the Hounds. And you. Oh, wait... you have those stupid rocket boots."
Shadow: "Implants. Got them shortly after the Council died."
Sonic: "Dude, just say they were murdered. We all know they were. Hell, you might have even done it."
Shadow: "Now who's being rude? I didn't. That was somebody else. At that time I was still in college."
Sonic: "You went to college?"
Shadow: "Had to drop out before I got my bachelor's."

Yes I know it's been over a year. Life has been craaaazy. Like I graduated, I got a job, I almost died, I got a new computer, stuff like that. I mentioned some of it in other fic stuff, but maybe you're just here for this scattered fic based on the au from @hermitcraftheadcanons
Fun detail is Evil X and Grum's sections I actually pulled up mc and played to make things more accurate. I mean i messed with my spawn location since you don't normally end up where they did, but otherwise i actually did it.
The Watchers jumped slightly when Xelqua slammed his hand on the table along with a number of papers. “There. All done before the nutshell.”
No one said anything as Zem picked up the papers, reading them over as Xelqua grinned, feathers ruffling excitedly. Yus looked over Zem’s shoulder to read along, sometimes moving the papers to get a look at something they missed. It took a few minutes before Zem handed the whole stack over to Yus so they could really look through it as well as show to the other three. “So, it looks mostly alright, but I want to ask a few things first.”
“Go ahead!” Xelqua happily agreed, quickly building himself a chair and sitting in it, making Zem narrow his eyes.
“First, how were you able to prepare this as fast as you did?”
“Oh, well Mumbo actually wanted to help out. Of course I was suspicious at first, he could have been trying to tweak things in their favor, but he actually made it worse! I mean so many shriekers littered about, prioritizing moving people around, more challenges, he’s even fine with giving the ‘living redstone’ things a downgrade. Oh and not to mention this little tidbit here.” And Xelqua ran over, stealing one of the papers to really let Zemunis look at it. “Adding an extra requirement to this whole thing similar to that little rotator. Meaning it’ll last longer and we’ll get more time to test and research. I mean, this will definitely up the time from around six months.”
“And are you sure that extra time won’t skew our results?”
Quickly, Xelqua’s cheery demeanor turned serious and almost angry. “I’m sorry, are you saying we shouldn’t do this?”
“Well I think he’s just-” Yuslep spoke up before a glare silenced them again.
“We’ve gotten results already. Herobrine has already started giving us answers after who knows how many years you two have tried getting him talking. And now we know that this is the world. If we do anything wrong, They’ll just show up and tell us to stop. Now, not sure if you’ve noticed, but as far as I can tell, They haven’t shown up. And since They haven’t shown up, They probably don’t want us to stop. So until They do, we’re going to keep going. Plus, you agreed to this if I could get the work done, and now I have.”
“Well, you didn’t really get it done. One of the testers did.”
“One who is learning to become a Marked. If we’re going to allow any of them, it would be him. So. Are you allowing this, or not?”
With the current tension in the room, Zem jumped as Pin whispered in his ear. Watchers were fortunately known for their eyes and not their ears, so a hand in front of Pin’s mouth easily made the conversation private from Xelqua. “Look, if one of the hermits planned this all out, it’s obviously something that should help them in the long run, even if Grian can’t see it. And it’s not like the experiment isn’t a mess already with how it’s affected Grian. Noah even just got back and is recovering because whatever’s doing this to Grian messed with him as well. And either way, he’s right about us finally getting information. If you’re worried about the time, all this might end up shorter if we can finally find Them from the experiment.”
Zem was quiet for a few moments, processing all the information before giving a single sharp nod. “Yuslep, send a mass message to the testers once we’re ready to implement the changes. Give them a warning of half an hour, then update.”
“Got it.” Yus agreed before rushing off, beginning to set things up.
After Joe passed out in the tower, Beef struggled getting him back to the village. While he rested, Beef worked on gathering more materials. Around the time Joe finally woke up again, Beef didn’t get a chance to ask for what he had been trying to say earlier because the messages from Doc and Etho started flooding the chat. Immediately Beef crafted an anvil and some stone swords for Joe to use on him, sending some messages to everyone.
While it did work, it was done while Joe was only just waking up, so the action left him tired. At first Beef was the one to let himself die since Joe was still recovering, but it was more important after it was pointed out that hybrids were being affected, which was probably similar to what was wrong with Joe.
Beef was sure he would be able to ask Joe once he woke up again, but that hope was dashed again when his comm started making noise other than the standard buzzing. The last message that had been sent through deaths was a message from Mumbo, warning that the experiment was going to change up a bit, but it turned out it was coming sooner than anyone thought. Though Beef wasn’t speaking out loud, at the same time he read the message, it seemed like the voice of someone else was reading it off with him.
“As stated previously by a player, an update will occur for the experiment at the request of one of your own. All spawns will be reset but inventories will stay constant. Unregistered players will be registered, creating a total of 30 players. Terrain may be altered, but will for the most part remain unchanged if already explored. Original spawns may also change due to player overlap. The update will occur in half an hour. You have thirty minutes.”
Beef quickly shook Joe awake the rest of the way and they began to gather resources and equipment into their inventories. With the mention of spawns changing due to overlap, especially with the two of them at true spawn as opposed to anywhere else, Beef and Joe were most worried about their spawns changing.
They, along with anyone else who could, grabbed armor, weapons, tools, blocks, and more, preparing for when the time was up. Coordinates were memorized for meeting points, and a few messages were sent in chat in hopes that it wouldn’t be wiped. And then-
‘Your Server will be Restarted Shortly. Please be patient.’

.
The mountain was a reluctantly familiar sight. It being devoid of life, however, was not. Sure, there was the weird pillar monument thing from before, plus the bed, but there should be more. “Hello? Is anyone here? Dad? Grum?”
The last thing Jrum remembered was him and Grum seeing a message where someone was killed by a zombie using a named tool. Said tool was listed in chat, which made the two of them realize that renamed weapons or whatever could be used to send actual messages. The problem was you needed an anvil.
Somehow, he and Grum had managed to imprint some of the letters on and around the pillar to a snowball. Jrum offered to be the one killed for the message, if it could even really be called that. They had done their best to use the odd symbols to look like the word hello, but it didn’t really.
But even then, he had been killed, and it didn’t look like he had respawed normally as not only did the time seem completely different, but Grum was nowhere to be seen. His next guess was that Grian was right to worry about their respawning and needing to use magic for it, but then Grian didn’t seem to be here either. Did that just mean that normally for them, it would take ages? Did… did Grum think he was dead for good?
But where was Grum? There didn’t seem to be a path down or anything. At least that he could see. But maybe the same thing that happened to him happened to Grum. After he didn’t respawn, Grum would have been alone. And he had to do everything himself until he slipped up. Which meant he was probably just taking his time respawning just like Jrum.
But as he finished that train of thought, he then noticed the amount of death messages appearing in chat. Ones that probably shouldn’t be happening… not with the prior information he knew. Impulse didn’t seem to be drowning, nor was Daddy dying to vindicators. But Xisuma was still being killed by a Warden and Wels to hoglins, so at first it would seem like they escaped their area, but at the same time, there were other messages causing confusion.
Last Jrum knew, it was only the hermits, he and his brother, oh and those two mysterious players Gemini and Pearlescent. But apparently Helsknight was also here now. Also False hadn’t dealt with any other deathloop other than a little bit of drowning at the start, but now she kept dying to something called dripstone. And while Xisuma was still being killed by that warden, now the death message was different mentioning a sonically charged shriek. And finally Zedaph was now being eaten by frogs? For some reason? Jrum didn’t even know what that was!
Jrum was just about to essentially set the messages to a sort of do not disturb so he wouldn’t have to focus on that, but just before he did, a new death message popped up. This wasn’t one of the hermits, nor was it one of the new people. Instead, it was Grum’s name, and he had been killed by a Piglin.
Jrum was immediately looking around. There wasn’t much on the mountain, and he had already looked around, but he had still hoped to either see a nether portal, or see Grum respawn. But neither of those happened. He still looked around expectantly for a few more moments, barely noticing himself starting to shiver before there were more messages of Grumbot getting killed by not only piglins, but hoglin and brutes as well. Jrum almost shut his messages off so he didn’t need to look, but then a single message from Doc came in, saying ‘bot. water.’ and a pair of coordinates, him having gotten an anvil apparently and given a sword to a zombie.
Bot was probably referring to him with the nether not able to have water since now Grum was spawning there for some reason, plus Grum had reported seeing Doc below the clouds. That, along with the fact the coordinates weren’t too far from where he currently stood. In fact they were close enough that he could probably jump to where the water was. Since it would probably be easier to get back up to the mountaintop after going down and hopefully getting resources, Jrum took a running start, then jumped.
.
.
.
The sky was not black. It was very much blue. Meaning Evil Xisuma had gotten their spawn moved to the overworld. Pretty much the last place they wanted to be. Sort of. They lifted their head to see where exactly they ended up, only to curse when they saw very very large mushrooms. They took it back, this was the last place they wanted to be.
He gave a long sigh, putting his head back down and continuing to lie in the mycelium. “Fuck it, I’ll just kill some mooshrooms and swim elsewhere.” Then after a moment more, they jumped to their feet, running towards what looked like further into the island. Opposed to what the message given to everyone said, EX did not still have his loot from the end city in his inventory, which was going to make any progress to get back there very difficult.
While there were indeed mooshrooms, that was not the only thing present on the island. Standing among the mushrooms, growing from mycelium and not a patch of grass, were some trees. They weren’t trees EX recognized, but they were still some type of tree. “Well I guess I don’t have to swim.”
Instead of attacking the mooshrooms, Xannes started gathering wood. The wood itself seemed to be oak, but the leaves looked the wrong color and shape, plus last they checked, no leaves had flowers blooming in them. Eventually a sort of sapling fell, that being an azalea shrub, whatever that was. But if it could be bonemealed into a tree, it would work. But that meant getting some bonemeal, which meant finding a skeleton. And monsters didn’t spawn on or under mushroom islands.
Or at least that’s what Evil Xisuma thought, because once they had gathered a few trees worth of wood and shrubs as well as some beef and leather, they went down into a surface cave. They were already intrigued by what seemed to be vines glowing further into the cave that they didn’t realize until too late that a skeleton was nearby. At this point, the only gear they had was some leather crafted into boots to potentially help reduce fall damage a tad. They didn’t really have enough to make more, and they didn’t think they would need any.
EX managed to whack the thing once with their axe before getting killed. They grumbled before finding their way back to the cave, managing to grab their stuff and start leaving the cave before getting shot again. Fortunately they weren’t attacked after picking everything up again and instead mined some stone that was further away from the dark part of the cave.
After getting a good amount, EX crafted a furnace, as well as a stone pick, sword and axe. They grabbed a little bit more wood now that they knew that tools and torches would be more important. The skeleton had moved away a bit, but a creeper was in its place. The creeper exploded around the time the skeleton wandered back over, damaging it a bit more, but it took another hit before the monster was finally dead.
Xannes ate some of their now cooked beef before realizing that regen still seemed to be disabled in the world, so they couldn’t heal back to full, but at least for now they had about seven hearts. Plus there were no more mobs, and there only seemed to be the one dark area and further into the cave also had the ground above it missing, acting as a sort of skylight.
They used the area as a chance to mine for iron and coal, only to be surprised when the iron wasn’t ore, but some sort of raw iron. It seemed to need to be cooked as well, which didn’t make much sense to them; but it was whatever. They got it cooking before going towards a slightly darker area, now with armor, a shield and an iron axe. There was only one skeleton, but it did give them a bone, which was the point of looking.
Gathering up the last of the cooked iron as well as their utility blocks and some more coal, Xannes had grabbed water from one of the various clay lined pools. There had been a single block leading down to a cave, and right now the goal was to get down to diamond and lava level.
There was a bit of an incident with some mobs at the bottom of the water stream. One of which being a perfect line up to end EX up with a music disk, though it was 11. Further down past that was a more open cave. The greenery, clay and water from before was gone, which would have made it look normal, if it weren’t for the fact that the stone was the wrong color.
Getting distracted, Evil Xisuma looked around, trying to figure out what the weird stone might mean… up until they ran into an exposed piece of diamond ore. And hidden underneath were four more. “Alright, I’ve changed my mind. I ended up in the perfect place.”

When Grum opened his eyes again, he expected to find himself up on top of the mountain again, hopefully with his brother. From there, it would be easy to make their way back down to where Doc was positioned, assuming the pond they had made was still in place. Unfortunately instead of snow and ice and cold, Grum found his new spawn much hotter, with blackstone around him and the grunts of some nearby piglin.
With no danger immediately present, Grum checked on the world chat messages, noticing that a few players had gotten into death loops again, though some had gotten into new ones as well as some of continued deathloops having some small changes, that mainly being Xisuma’s.
Wondering about his dad, Grum then switched over to the player list, finding all the hermits listed including his dad, though with a different name than usual listed for him. There of course was also Pearl and then the other unfamiliar person, Geminitay, but there were also two newer-ish names. Those names were Helsknight, who was vaguely familiar, but also Xannes, which wasn’t as much. It would just have to be something Grum would ask about if he found anyone.
Well, anyone who was a player, as once he stopped looking at the world chat and tried exploring his spawn, he managed to run into a piglin and got killed. Knowing that path wouldn’t work, Grum attempted to go a different way, but this time he found a hoglin inside the bastion which also made quick work of him. By the time he finally managed to get to a safe area, Grum had been killed by some piglin brutes as well as more deaths from the other two. And if anything, he had been killed by some of the brutes a few times more than the others. Normally he wouldn’t try paying attention to that, but it wasn’t like this world was normal.
Grum finally noticed that the safe area he had found was actually a pretty good place to be. He could hear piglins, sure, but there were none in sight, even despite the fact that there was a chest right there. He carefully listened around to figure out how close the piglins were before opening the chest, getting prepared to run. He knew enough to recall that piglins did not like you rooting through their chests, so they could show up when he did.
After a few seconds with the chest opened, nothing arrived, so Grum carefully looked inside, still keeping an eye on the surrounding area. The two most important items to him were a gold sword and a golden apple, a weapon and a way to heal since regen still seemed to be off. There were also a decent amount of arrows and a pair of crossbows, which were also helpful, though Grum wasn’t sure how well he could use them. As for the rest of the items in the chest, Grum collected up some golden carrots, some string, a singular pork chop, two iron nuggets, a handful of bone blocks, and some crying obsidian, but most importantly, there was some regular obsidian as well.
If Grum could find a ruined portal, or just more obsidian and enough stuff for a flint and steel, he would be able to create a portal and escape. Unfortunately, that all hinged on him actually getting out of the bastion alive as well, since he would lose all the items if he did die. There was the potential of dying so many times the piglins accepted him as one of their own, but he wasn’t really looking forward to the possibility of being part mob. If he even could become part mob when he was a robot and not a regular player.
From where Grum stood, he could just barely make out a chest on the other side of the bastion. He couldn’t see any piglins directly between it and him, but who knew what would be on the way there, and if he could even easily get there since there was also a large pool of lava in the middle as well. It was surrounding some netherwart, so that meant there was a platform, but that would likely be soul sand which would slow him and- he was overthinking this.
Steeling himself, Grum loaded both of his crossbows before running towards the chest. Almost immediately a piglin was in his way, and Grum turned to try and run away from it before getting cornered. With no other option, he fired his crossbow and was relieved when the single arrow was able to kill the piglin. Unfortunately, in running, he had fallen down a level, which hadn’t hurt him, but there was now a wall keeping him from getting directly to the chest. Loading the crossbow again, Grum carefully made his way around the wall through thin corridors, expecting danger at every turn.
Finding another dead end, Grum turned around, only for an armored piglin to see him. With two more arrows and a swipe from his sword, Grum killed it, but not before taking some damage. He barely had time to load his crossbow again before another piglin armored appeared with a brute by its side. Miraculously, Grum was able to hit the brute into the lava pool and kill the piglin, even getting its golden chestplate, which he immediately threw on. Just in time as third piglin appeared, this one with no armor but a crossbow of its own. Grum only had his sword ready, so sliced at it, getting shot once in the process, but not being killed.
With no more threats immediately appearing, Grum ate his apple, glad for the healing to take him back to full hearts and then a little. Another piglin with a crossbow saw Grum as he made his way to another alcove. Grum managed to take one of his bone blocks to block a gap for them to see him from, but in the process found some magma flooring, taking just a touch of damage before he was safe again, hearing the piglin killed by a hoglin.
From his new place, Grum could see another chest in the middle of the lava, which unfortunately was now further away from him than where he had started. It was something he could try to get to if he died again, but that was still thankfully an if. The regular path continued into a dead end until Grum went up a level, but he could hear more piglins there, so instead he used his other two bone blocks to bridge a small gap towards another opening.
Using a touch of crying obsidian as well as punching through some blocks with his hand, Grum ran into another piglin, and only barely stopped himself from firing his crossbow before noticing that he wasn’t being attacked thanks to his stolen armor. Unfortunately, the same didn’t work for brutes, and there was one between him and the chest. Thankfully, it couldn’t reach where he stood, but Grum knew opening the chest would also anger the piglins, so he had to take his next steps very carefully.
The moment he attacked the brute, all the piglins get angry with him. With some panic, Grum managed to get them all to walk into a pit where they could get in and out, but couldn’t get to him. Barely dodging an arrow, Grum managed to attack with his sword, and then watched in surprise as pretty much all the piglins found a puddle of lava and fell into it.
As Grum continued to pick off piglins, a baby hoglin dropped in on him, barely loading his crossbow in time to hit it before it thankfully ran into the pit as well. Finally, Grum reached the chest, and then yelled in frustration at the items inside. The most useful items were more bone blocks as well as chains, as he could build across gaps with them, but the piglin disc and other gold chestplate weren’t as helpful. Well, Actually his stolen one was almost broken, so he did replace it, but it was still lacking.
With some reluctance, Grum made his way to the center chest, picking up the growing netherwart as well. Taking a deep breath, he went to open the chest, only to get killed by a piglin brute that fell from above. Feeling angry as he respawned, Grum didn’t even hesitate as he rushed back and shoved the brute into the lava, picking up what remained of his own items. Thankfully the new chestplate still survived along with his obsidian. In fact, while his sword had fallen in lava as well as one crossbow, the other crossbow survived with the arrows. And as Grum opened the chest, he doubled his obsidian as well as got a gold axe.
With enough obsidian to make a portal, Grum smiled before frowning at the fact that holding the axe felt a bit more comfortable than the sword or crossbow. He hoped maybe it was just his own imagination, but Grum couldn’t be sure. But not wanting to dwell on it or get the chance to die again, Grum immediately used his obsidian to make a portal frame. Though he couldn’t light it, it was at least there, so Grum stood on top to fire arrows at the rest of the piglins and brutes and hoglins, taking the last few out with punches into lava when his arrows finally ran out.
Feeling safer, Grum explored a bit more. There were unfortunately no more chests, but Grum did find where what seemed to be every remaining piglin seemed to be. He did his best to block up the area with bone blocks, but one brute escaped, which killed him twice before he finally killed it in return. But with that, he was safe. There weren’t any more hoglins or brutes, and the only remaining piglins were children and didn’t attack him. They seemed scared of him, which was reasonable since he had just killed what seemed to be their family.
He felt a little sad for them, but he had to do it to survive. With some reluctance, Grum picked up the chests he had emptied and took them to his spawn point. He was still stuck here, but he had the beginnings of a way out, and that was progress, and progress was good.
.
.
.
He was willing to admit that he had lied a little with what he had said to Wels. After the warning of the soft reset, Hels had reluctantly helped with obtaining stone tools for himself and Welsknight. He also did his best to kill a couple of hoglins and pass the pork off with a reminder that starving was probably a better option than eating crimson fungus.
It was midway through trying to make sure Wels' spawn was safe when it happened. One moment Hels was in the nether placing blocks, the next he was in the overworld, and with his inventory completely empty. Great, so the part about him keeping his stuff was a lie. Which made things a lot worse for him.
When he had tried to claim that needing to keep Wels from dying just wasted resources he could have used for himself, that wasn't entirely the case. While his name was Helsknight, it was in part because he was from a sort of alternate universe or whatever that was referred to as hels. Going between the two places wasn't common. He had ended up there in the first place because of one of the Hermits' inventions, and was only back due to Evil Xisuma. The only reason he had been doing so well in the nether was because Evil X had insisted on modding one of their seasons with the nether. Because that dimension wasn't normally a part of hels.
Helsknight himself, despite being named after the alternate universe or whatever that didn't have the nether, had actually been from a world that had also been modded with the fiery dimension. Which, if he knew enough about how things worked, Wels was in the same situation, being from a world that had added in the connections to an extra dimension. Still, the dimension that Hels had grown up with didn't exactly match the present day nether of wels, but for whatever reason, Evil X had wanted to be nice and give a slice of home to the knight. It had felt off since it was made to match the new version of things, but now Hels appreciated the gesture.
It still hadn't exactly matched with the nether Hels had found himself in before, but it gave him some familiarity with the dimension he had found himself in. But emphasis on had. Because now he found himself in the overworld in a biome he didn't fully recognize. And that would be bad enough if it weren't also for the fact that he wasn't exactly sure how to actually survive.
Okay, that was sort of hyperbole, but it was still going to be tough. From what Hels had learned after his first visit to wels, there hadn't originally been a separation between the two dimensions. But sometime around the addition of a new dimension, the split happened. Since then, the two dimensions had stayed separate, and what might be discovered in one of the worlds would have a different equivalent in the other.
Like for instance, apparently they had spruce and birch instead of pine and sycamore. If something that small was different, what else was he going to deal with? Well for one, probably the bird a couple of blocks away from him. He looked at it and it looked back, but nothing happened, so it probably wasn’t hostile. He then looked around at the landscape, hoping to spot some kind of landmark, only to be disappointed by finding just one.
Just like at Wels’ spawn, a similar pillar thing stood just behind where Hels appeared. But unlike the netherbrick of the other one, this was made mainly from a type of wood he can’t recall the name of. It’s orange wood, but the bark is more of a gray. The only things not like that are the piece of bedrock and the strange block on top of it that looked like weird dirt or stone.
As far as Helsknight could tell, he couldn’t get anything out of the small structure other than being able to see his spawn. Maybe that meant he should build his base there, but he needed to gather wood first. So, Hels started walking to the nearest tree, punching at the logs that matched what the spawn marker was made of. When he finally picked them up, he noted that they were ‘acacia’ before turning them into a crafting table and set of wooden tools.
Chopping down another tree, Hels used the planks to outline where his base would be before digging at the group below until he hit stone, then continued to mine that up until he could change to a stone pickaxe and make a furnace. He popped back up to the surface to place the untility block next to his crafting table, also making and placing a chest for good measure.
Digging randomly for coal wasn’t really the best option in the moment, so after stuffing the extra cobble and dirt into the chest, Hels went looking for a shallow cave in hopes of finding some coal ore. Thankfully it didn’t take long, and he mined it up and crafted a number of torches. One was placed in the cave opening to help it stand out, and he placed a small trail on the way back to his base for the same reason.
While placing one in the center of his outlined area, Hels frowned at where it was now suddenly broken. For whatever reason, a few of the blocks he had placed were just missing now. He couldn’t really see why, but Helsknight placed more blocks in the gap. After that, he added a second layer of blocks to make sure there was a wall to hopefully keep out any monsters once night finally hit.
Now that Hels had a number of torches, he continued his staircase in the spawn area. If he could find a cave below his spawn, then he wouldn’t need to go exploring too far. And with regen off, if he died, it would be fairly easy to return to where he had been. But that meant finding a cave in the first place.
For now, he was having very little luck. Helsknight had only managed to find two pieces of iron ore, and he had no clue what to do with the raw iron that had dropped. Even if it worked like regular iron ingots, what was he supposed to do with shears? As Hels tried to potentially come up with any idea, his train of thought stopped in its tracks when he reached the surface. In the same area as before, the planks making the wall for his temporary base were gone.
Helsknight stared at the gap in the wall, trying to figure out why it was there again. His first guess was the strange bird he had seen earlier, but at this point, it had wandered off far enough that he couldn’t see it anywhere nearby. With another glance, he noticed how that side of his wall was closer to the spawn structure than the rest of it. Probably nothing could be within a certain distance of the thing.
With a frustrated sign, Hels tore up what remained of that wall and expanded it. He was still going to enclose the thing to some degree. It was his spawn, and the thing was important enough that protecting it was probably the safest option.
.
.
.
The first time he had seen a player was a surprise, leaving quickly enough he was pretty sure he wasn’t spotted. The next time he wasn’t as sure, but couldn’t tell. The third and fourth times he knew they didn’t, but the fifth time he knew he had been seen.
He had been alone for a long time, on his own and sometimes managing to find himself in different worlds. Sometimes, those worlds included other people. And when those people saw him, they talked about him. Those talks ended up connecting to more things they had spotted, things he had left behind like little tunnels or small builds. He didn’t think it would amount to much, until the first time a player appeared in the world he was in, instead of the other way around.
That had been this world. Ages and ages ago. When the first Watcher had appeared. They did something to him that day. They essentially laid a curse upon him, one he was stuck with for ages. Technically, he was still stuck with it, but it had been lessened. At most he could say it left him feeling sick for a day or so. And part of that was because of how accommodating his current home was.
Well, it wasn’t really current now. This world wasn’t supposed to be their home. And it seemed someone had noticed the little fix that had been given to his curse. The Watchers were running the show after all. They wouldn’t want something like that messed with if they hadn’t been the ones fixing it.
But he didn’t know it had happened until it was too late. The idea only crossed his mind near the end of their timer. He did his best to rush back to a piece of safety, hoping to ride out what he thought was coming. Surely he could be taken care of for a little bit. That’s what hermits did after all.
He called out to Beef in time for him to turn around right as the server reset began. And when everything was set back to normal, only one hermit remained at the true spawn. And due to the message given previously, Beef sadly assumed that the other Hermit had ended up with a moved spawn.
But that wasn’t the case. He hadn’t moved spawns, but he was no longer at the true spawn. He was nowhere.

Nori’s First Mission
//This will be the second entry in Nori’s Stories, a collection of drabbles and short stories about the little blue dude or his little blue friends. This one is unrelated to the first but if you want to read it you can find it linked in my pinned post. Nori’s First Mission covers, well, Nori’s first mission out of the city. It happens many years before the current time and includes: blood, major injuries, mention of death (although no one dies), a little bit of found family, Nori imaging a sunrise, and is overall pretty long. I was hoping to show a bit more than what I have but that would take too long so just posting as it is. Hope you enjoy :)
-Mod Cucco //
It was a little while after the team originally found Nori that he went on his first mission. He had been trained in common Ultra Beasts (specifically how to avoid them) and general procedures for how things worked. Still, just because you're trained in what to do if something goes wrong doesn't mean that's always what happens. It was supposed to be something simple, the mission that is. Nori was going to follow a few of the members in the Ultra Defense Force outside the city, collect some basic data to update their records, and maybe learn some stuff from more experienced people along the way.
The sky was always dark but Nori was noting it anyways, just like how he noted the sound the group made as they walked further from the light of the city. Osmund, the lady in charge of the expedition, marched confidently in front with something that could be considered a flashlight. As Nori was the only Recon Squad member there he also marched in the front, and even though it was just to gather the highest quality undisturbed data, it made Nori feel important.
After a few minutes of quiet walking Osmund decided to be the first one to talk. "Your name is Nori, right? Sorry, I'm terrible with names."
"Yes, at least I think my name is Nori," he said back, "I'm not quite sure after all that's happened"
Osmund nodded, "I heard about that. I'm sorry Phyco couldn't find your family, not to mention losing your memories must have been a struggle. Still, I'm happy to have you working with us!" She smiled when she patted Nori on the back. "Just a tip but you don't need to be stiff to be professional. If you keep your posture relaxed while talking all fancy it helps your back and your confidence."
Nori hadn't even noticed he was tense until she said that. "Oh uh… thanks!"
"Hey It's my job. One of the reasons why Phyco sends all the new guys with me. That and the fact that I've walked this route so many times I'd notice if anything was off."
They walked for a while longer after that. Nori noted (just as he was told) every rock and ancient building foundation. Each sample was one more weight added to his already sore legs until he eventually asked for a rest. Nori carefully went through his data and thanked his suit for being comfortable even if it was a little bulky. From the vantage point he was at there was still light emanating from Megalo Tower and for a moment Nori could imagine what a "Sunrise" might have looked like. Maybe there would be stars, tiny sparkles in the sky that would represent the people's dreams. Maybe there would be farms longer than buildings were tall. Maybe there would be "Trees", plants so big you could live in them. Just as Nori was about to write this down in his Personal Thoughts section of the notes he got interrupted by Osmund.
"We must have taken a wrong turn." She said, "I don't remember this place. Dalis, what's the distance to Megalo Tower?"
One of the members of the Defence Force, who must have been Dalis, looked down at an instrument with a confused look on his face. "That's strange, the number hasn't changed since I last checked it," He thought for a moment, "That must have been at least 20 turns ago. It's just… strange. I did a full diagnostic on it before we left, there should be no issue with it."
"Well nothing we can do about it now. Let's turn back before we get into any trouble… Nori, what's beeping?" Osmund asked.
Nori didn't notice anything though. It took him a bit to find what instrument was going off, his energy monitor. The small device was beeping like crazy, probably for so long that Nori had stopped noticing it. To put it simply, this was not good. "This is not good." Nori replied.
Dalis yelled, "Alright everyone get going. GO." Immediately everyone picked up the pace. Someone called the headquarters for a Lunala but it wouldn't arrive until well after the standard time simply because of how far out they went. Nori was so caught up in the group that for a little bit he didn't even notice that Osmund wasn't following them.
"Osmund, come on!" Nori called out. She didn't move, just stared in the direction everyone was running.
"oh no. not good." Osmund murmured. "DON'T RUN THAT WAY" The entire group halted as Osmund finally ran to catch up with them. "TURN AROUND NOW!"
Nori was confused. Why wouldn't they head back? Why was it so bright all of a sudden? Nori's head hurt and he felt like he might fall over. Where had he felt this before? The world seemed to slow. Behind him the universe tore itself in two, and a monster entered the world.
Nori turned around In horror, his legs shaking as two hands emerged from the Wormhole, each larger than him. The hands forced the rift wider until the creature’s torso could fit through. Before Nori even had a chance to think, the Ultra Beast’s long needle of a mouth had focused its next target, him.
It was that moment that the Buzzwole came crashing down like a force of nature and everything went red. Somehow Nori wasn't dead. Somehow Nori was still conscious and as he lifted his hand to his head he felt something there aside from the blood. Don't panic, he thought, pleaded really, Osmund. Where is Osmund?
Nori crawled through the rubble spread by Buzzwole's entrance. He could see the destruction it had caused now, people fell to its might, some fled but probably wouldn't get far. Finally, he saw Osmund. She was trapped beneath a rock that fell when she must have shoved Nori out of the way. He stumbled across the chaos until he fell next to her, both terrified and in pain. It was there that they waited for help. Osmund was nearly dead, barely breathing but still struggling to stay conscious even if it was only to warn Nori everytime the Beast returned to look for them. It felt like a long time before any help arrived.
Sometime between rescue and being transported back to the city Nori must have fallen asleep, because the next thing he remembers is waking up to Phyco and Soliera looking down at him. He was told that the Buzzwole had been defeated and that everyone had survived, even if they did so with injuries. A large chunk of rock had to be removed from Nori’s head and it would leave a permanent scar just above his eye, but surprisingly he and Osmund sustained the most damage. Ms. Phoris (as Phyco had called her) would most likely not be able to go out on missions due to complications with her legs. Still, that certainly wouldn’t stop her from training others in the future. Nori would always be her favorite student though, enough that she even gave him her last name.
While much has changed since this incident (mainly safety procedures) it’s content continues to affect those involved. Aside from the main physical injury Nori received, from this point forward he almost refused to get too close to any kind of Ultra Beast or pokemon. It also kickstarted Nori’s relationship with Osmund, one of the primary people who he considers his family, as he has none by blood. Like a few other of the accidents Nori continues to find himself in, it still bothers him a little, even if he won’t admit it.

Who Said Death Was Easy? [Death Note] Chapter 56: Exchange
Chapter Fifty-six: Exchange
[A/N: Yes, the rumors are true! After forever, I’m finally updating my fanfiction. Sorry it’s taken so long, lol. Someone commented that I should have an upload schedule, which I agree with. Right now my goal is a chapter a month, which is something I’ll try to stick to. This story is so close to being finished, which I’m excited about. Sorry if this chapter isn’t super exciting, I had more plans for it but I had to split up this chapter because it started getting long so the next chapter will be more like normal. I could also just be totally anxious since it’s been so long since I posted and this chapter could be fine, lmao. I suppose that’s enough rambling, I’ll let you guys decide how I did lol. As always, comments are appreciated! Thanks, and sorry again, lmao.
-Stephanie]
Misa’s POV:
“Remember, today’s an important day, Misa-chan,” Light spoke in a hushed yet urgent tone. The morning light was lazy as it streamed in through the bedroom window. Misa watched the sun peak through the clouds as she listened to Light continue on over the phone. This time, Light was the one who had called her first, something Misa was rather excited about. Misa supposed that it would be an interesting day, to say the least.
“Are you sure you’re ready to go through with this? Absolutely ready?”
He’s certainly rather chipper…well, he must mean business, Misa thought. Despite knowing that he could not see her face, she gave what she thought was an enthusiastic nod. She sat up in her bed, as alert as ever. Even though it was too early in the morning to be awake, talking to Light was more than enough to energize her, and she was determined to do a good job, at the photoshoot and for their little secret exchange.
As good a job as I can do anyway, at least while I’m currently acting as the Second Kira. Soon, I’ll be just plain Misa Amane, model, singer, and fashion icon, once more. How boring, but I suppose it’s a necessary evil for the time being it seems.
Yes. I’m ready.”
Oh well. It’s a new beginning, for me and for Light. For Kira and his new Second Kira. Yes, Misa gave another nod. It’s my time to shine. My last time to shine as the Second Kira. As per Light’s orders, I have names written down of criminals to be killed over the next few days. That way, there is insurance that there are no gaps between killings as this fresh start takes place. Luckily for us, that leaves no room for L or anyone else on that damned Task Force to be suspicious! Wow, Light sure does think of everything, huh? He’s arranged this whole little operation all by himself; how brilliant!
“I’m ready, Light-kun.” Misa repeated. “I’m more than ready.”
“Good,” was Light’s response. “Now, just to review…you have the note I told you to write as well? Make sure it’s securely attached and tucked into the pages of the death note so Mikami and I will be able to keep contact via the instructions listed on there. And make sure it’s safely hidden as well once it’s inside the locker. There shouldn’t be any cameras in the room, for privacy reasons of course, but we don’t need anyone accidentally touching the notebook. I know we went over everything already, but it’s better to be thorough. This whole operation is supposed to be subtle and simple, we don’t need any possible witnesses.”
“Of course. Don’t worry, Light-kun. After what happened with Ryuzaki-san, I have a strict no perverts policy.” She let out a small laugh as she continued on, “besides, the main dressing room we’re using will be out closer by the set. You are more than aware of that, there should be no one left loitering around once the photoshoot begins. It’s a closed set and my manager is a guy, there’s no need for him to be in the room. Only my assistants will be in the locker room with me, but as we covered in our initial plans, they’ll leave me if I ask to be alone for a moment. As I told you before, they usually let me be.”
“Good, good…I tried to think everything through logistically. It’s best to be prepared though for any type of situation,” although Misa couldn’t see his face, she imagined the way Light was probably smirking at her right now. “You got this, right? I’m entrusting you with this important task, Misa-chan.”
“I got this!” She chirped into the phone. “Don’t worry, you don’t need to keep reminding me. It’s not rocket science, it’s like passing notes in school, but a lot more secretive and stuff!”
“I just want you to be aware,” Light was saying. “I’m sure that today will go as planned, but as I said, it's better to be thorough.”
Misa gave a soft sigh at his words, her eyes grazing towards her alarm clock. It was still a bit early, but the sooner she got ready, the better. For herself and for Light.
After all, it’s always better to get organized as soon as possible. They don’t call me one of the best in the fashion world for no reason! And, as Light had said, it was very important to be prepared for any situation.
Misa decided to be as prepared as possible for Light and for his mission. She let out another chuckle as she imagined Light’s face. Of course, she supposed she had to have an award for such a task. It was only reasonable, after all, she needed some motivation to keep her going. There was no harm in that.
“Anyway, I should start getting ready! Remember, after I complete this mission, you owe me a date.”
“Misa,” She heard Light sigh into the phone, something she opted to ignore. A date was of course within her terms and conditions, especially as she was about to give up being the Second Kira for who knows how long. There was a brief pause as Light was seemingly gathering his thoughts, but Misa didn’t wait for his response, instead she persisted with her demand.
“I may not have my memories of being the Second Kira anymore after this, but I’ll of course remember the date that you promised we would have. This was my condition for completing this task, you know.”
“Look, Misa-chan, I don’t remember promising you a date, but I promi-”
“No, no take-backsies!” Misa interrupted again, her voice a singsong as she spoke. She then jumped down from her bed, her socks creating a soft plop sound as she hit the floor below. Taking her chance at his brief silence, she kept going. Her words were rushed, but her tone was light. “I’ll see you later, Light-kun! Don’t worry, you can count on me! I love you!”
With that, Misa hung up. She walked over to her mirror, studying the stylish reflection before her. There was a pep in her step and a mischievous gleam in her eyes as she got ready that morning. After changing out of her pajamas and lacing up her boots, she decided it was finally time to get going.
Almost time to report to work. How exciting! After all, today is an important day, an important task! And I get to look good while doing it!
Her eyes shone extra bright as she grabbed the mysterious notebook, which laid undisturbed on her nightstand. Ryuk trailed behind her, unfinished apple in hand, as she deposited the death note, which also had the note Light had mentioned tucked away within its pages, into her small backpack. After checking to ensure her bag was secure, she gave a small hum of approval at her work.
It’s go time.
With that, she was ready to face the day. Misa glanced behind her at Ryuk, “let’s do this!”
Today’s the day. My last day acting as the Second Kira. My final act…just you wait, Light. As I said, I’m more than ready.
/timeskip/
Misa hummed along to herself as she opened her designated locker. As was planned, she was left all alone in the locker room. Her assistants had left to go help set up in order to prepare for the magazine photoshoot; she would be modeling for a new product design to be released by none other than the Yotsuba Group. It was a funny situation, but also a fortuitous one as it allowed for an excuse to pass off the notebook to its next successor.
After triple checking that she was, in fact, alone, Misa Amane slipped the notebook discreetly behind her purse. As Light had instructed, Misa felt at the very back wall of her locker, feeling for the loose brick. She then moved the brick aside, pushing it to the corner of the storage unit. Afterwards, she grabbed the death note once more, checking for a quadruple time that she was still alone in the room.
Good good, everything is going smoothly. Not that I thought it would go bad, I think Light was worrying too much earlier. After all, I have a pretty simple task. Therefore, I’m confident I can do a good job! Like I said, it’s like passing a note, but in a much more elaborate way, kind of cool actually…it’s like I’m a secret agent! I suppose in a way, I am.
Misa laughed a little to herself, and with some quick movements, the death note was now pushed up in the back of the locker. Ryuk gave a small chuckle as she rolled it up ever so carefully, placing it partially inside a small hole that was accessible to the other room; the other locker room aka the men’s locker room, which sat directly next door to the women’s locker room. It was a pretty good set up, one that would make their plan run much smoother.
She was grateful she had tested the death note some days prior, and was even more grateful that, if rolled up, it was seemingly small enough to fit through some rather tight spaces. Tight spaces including said peephole that connected the two locker rooms together, something that Misa was quite thankful for, as it worked in their favor. Taking a step back a moment, she admired her handiwork.
“Aha! How cool!”
It’s a good thing Light had me scope out the place first! It’s usually the assistant's job to scope out modeling shoot locations, but I was able to convince them to let me come along! It was also pretty lucky that I found a locker that had a false backing to it. After a few duds, I noticed the loose brick in this particular space, I thought it was rather suspicious…and what do you know, I totally lucked out! I didn’t have to carve out my own hole to transfer the notebook, which makes my job a lot easier. Of course, it’s entirely not a good thing, seeing as a peeping tom probably was the one who made the hole there in the first place, but it fortunately also makes good use when exchanging secret documents…or, in this case, the death note!
“Hyuk hyuk, wow. I never imagined I’d see the death note folded like that,” Ryuk quipped, yet another apple in his hand now that the two were alone. “There’s no technical rule saying you can’t do that, but it still feels rather wrong…not that I care too much, don’t get me wrong. As long as that death note isn’t irrevocably damaged, it makes no difference to me. You humans are rather silly though, if you ask me…all this just to exchange the notebook.”
“Oh Ryuk,” Misa gave a laugh as she studied the shinigami, who had moved on to try and fish out another apple from his pockets. “I can always count on you to be honest, can’t I? Don’t worry, Mikami will be here to pick up the notebook within the hour. It won’t be stuck like that for too long.”
With that, Misa leaned forward and shut her locker once more. After checking that the door to the locker was locked and secure, Misa clapped her hands together. Her part in the plan was now almost over. In a way, she was almost as sad as she was excited; the prospect of a date with Light Yagami was more than enough to keep her going, but she was going to miss acting as the Second Kira. Not to mention, it was an extra excuse she wouldn’t have anymore to see Light, at least for the time being. However, she was willing to do whatever she needed to do in order for Kira to succeed and, possibly, get ahead. That made everything that she was doing more than worth it, she wanted to be useful to Light.
Alright! Everything is all officially locked away now… the passcode to the locker was only given to me and Mikami. In case of an emergency, he can always sneak into the women’s locker room to retrieve the notebook…but he should be able to access the locker and grab the notebook from the other side without any issues.
Misa gave a hum of excitement, watching Ryuk down the apple he was holding. “You better eat that apple quickly, Ryuk. It's almost time for the exchange. Now remember, I will be in the middle of the photoshoot, so I won’t be able to speak with you directly. Just keep an ear out, and when you hear me say the phrase, ‘exchange clothes’ or something similar when it’s time for my outfit change, that means that I want to give up ownership of the death note. That’ll be the cue. ‘Kay, Ryuk?”
“Hah, ‘exchange clothes’, got it.” Ryuk was amused, but he followed Misa quietly as she walked toward the door of the locker room. Her footsteps gave a slight echo as she clicked around in her heels. She was determined to finish her role as the Second Kira with pride. After all, this was all for Light.
It’s time…
“Alright, let’s do this…” She spoke to no one in particular as she opened the door. It was time for phase two of the exchange. Misa let out a breath as she took a step outside the room, ready to leave the world of Kira and death notes behind her.
/time skip/
Mikami’s POV:
Mikami gave a small chuckle as he walked through the desolate outer hallway of the first floor business. It was one of Yotsuba’s subsidiary businesses, but it housed a good location for filming, or so he had overheard from an employee outside, presumably on a work break. The employee had been on the phone, but he had been talking loud enough for the prosecutor to hear as he walked by to enter the building.
Although Mikami wasn’t sure who the original owner of the notebook was, he was almost certain that this ‘Kira’ he was receiving it from was Misa Amane herself or one of her employees, not anyone from Yotsuba Group. He had been keeping in contact with a mysterious woman, someone who had given him orders from the original ‘Kira’ himself. She had said she was the current Kira, acting in place of the original for the time being. According to her, it was time for this power to pass onto him for safe keeping. The task before him was both an honor and a privilege, one that he would accept with pride. His new role as the Second Kira, becoming a god among men.
However, this was no easy task, it was one that demanded the utmost loyalty, dedication, and trust. Therefore, he assumed this woman was someone of high importance to Kira, someone whose ideals aligned more closely to his, not someone from the Yotsuba Group; they were infamous in the legal world as a business who was known to house some rather shady business practices, which he heard about from his fellow colleagues. This narrowed down the list of possible acting Kiras to just Misa or one of her two assistants, who he had briefly seen from his car as they had entered the building almost an hour before.
As curious as Mikami was to find out her identity, he had some work to do that was more important - namely, the exchange itself. He had been told that all of Misa’s staff and Yotsuba building employees would be gathered for Misa Amane’s photoshoot, something that all but guaranteed that no one would be snooping about in either locker room. The shoot would last around four hours, and he decided to wait around an hour before entering the building, just to be safe and ensure that the shooting was well underway before making his move.
He walked through the building, careful not to appear too out of place in case anyone would be walking nearby. Just in case, there was a forged Yotsuba workpass housed in his pocket in case anyone had any questions for him. Being a lawyer, all he had to say was that he was a legal representative. Despite having a good cover, he didn’t want to risk seeing or talking to any of the employees, less of a mess that way. Less risky. Lucky enough for him, the halls were barren as promised, and he was able to locate the locker rooms at the end of the hallway without any issues.
The two rooms were split off, the men’s side separated from the women’s side. However, despite being technically separated, the two rooms were side by side. His eyes peered at the signs written on the doors, then at the door handles, and he counted to ten in his head. After ten seconds had passed, he concluded there was no movement on either side or in any direction, meaning he should be more than totally alone. If there was anyone, they would have likely heard his footsteps and would have potentially questioned him by now.
Mikami took that as his cue to continue onward in his mission. He walked forward, his hand meeting the handle, careful not to be too loud. With a simple light swoosh, he opened the door and walked into the men’s locker room. As he had suspected, he was alone, causing him to relax a little.
The prosecutor looked about the room, his sharp eyes grazing over all the locker numbers until he spotted his designated spot - the locker that was closest to the side wall, inconspicuous and well-hidden. The locker that was secretly connected to the women’s locker room - locker 1228. After spotting his prey, he gave a light chuckle, his footsteps light as he walked toward the locker.
Mikami paused for a moment, retracing his footsteps in his mind. After triple checking that there was no one around the room with him, or nearby in the hallway, he reached forward. The pinpad beeped as he typed away the password, and it gave a final, slightly louder beep followed by a click as it unlocked. He reached upward and opened the locker, in all its glory. It was just a normal locker, but hidden deep in the back of the unit was a small hole. A small hole that had been filled with a particular noteworthy object, the very same object that was promised to him for safekeeping.
The notebook! It’s here as promised! Mikami’s eyes lit up as soon as he saw the notebook, which had the words ‘death note’ printed on the cover. The same one that he had discussed with that mysterious woman via secret texts and phone calls. He gave a chuckle as he pushed his glasses up on his nose.
So, this is it, eh? This is that infamous killing ‘notebook’ that was spoken about…the notebook that I was told held Kira’s killing powers…all of his secrets, it must be written down here in this death note!
Mikami gave another snicker as the realization started to dawn on him. All of Kira’s powers were about to become his own. He was about to become Kira’s proxy, a position most desired by his many loyal supporters. The prosecutor had looked through and commented on various forums composed of him and other fans who gave their unwavering favor and support to Kira. In fact, he had even appeared on multiple television programs in the crowd, surrounded by others who shared his mindset. Of the many, many people who would have loved for Kira to even give them a glimmer of acknowledgement, he was chosen. Him and only him. He had to admit, it was something that was rather fitting. Of all people Kira could have chosen, he picked a criminal prosecutor, someone who more than shared his ideals. This Kira was just as smart as Mikami suspected he was, someone who knew how to be sneaky and powerful. And here was Mikami, who was honored to be working with him.
Of course, he thought it was a scam when he first received contact but Kira and his Second Kira were able to prove their identities via criminals killed. They predicted their deaths, up to the exact second of passing, and Mikami was able to see for himself Kira’s true power. Although he had never met this woman or Kira in person, he was more than happy to accept this task, as he felt Kira and himself shared many similar beliefs. Kira was able to do what he was unable to do as a criminal prosecutor, and for that, he revered him.
He had to admit, he had long suspected that Kira may not have always been working alone. That made sense, after all, there may be times that Kira would be unable to move or punish evildoers for any various reason. Whatever the reason, he was certain he would do a good job in Kira’s stead. He was determined to do whatever it took to ensure justice prevailed and that Kira would remain a world power.
It’s almost too good to be true. This notebook, Kira’s killing power, his secrets, hidden away in this one small locker, trapped between both locker rooms, just waiting to be snatched away! And, most of all, it’s called the ‘death note’, a rather fitting name, if you ask me. I have to admit, I thought it was pretty insane when I first heard the way that Kira kills. It’s one thing to hear about it, it’s another thing entirely to see such a sacred notebook sitting right in front of me! It is truly amazing, a small notebook that holds so much power. It’s right here within my grasp, all I have to do is accept it!
Mikami was more than ready to accept his fate as the newly appointed Second Kira. He reached forward into the locker, gingerly fitting his hand around the rolled up object. With a slight tug, he was able to shake the notebook free from its confines of the hole. No longer sandwiched in between two lockers and two different rooms, the notebook was now safely in his hands.
Finally, Mikami was able to breathe in a sigh of relief, at least for the time being. He took a moment to relish this feeling, breathing in deeply as he held the notebook. There were many times in court that he felt powerless, but here in this moment, he was the one wielding all the power. It was him who could now take matters into his own hands, it was him who could correct all the wrongs within society. It was him who could fight back and enact justice for those who could not stick up for themselves, and punish those who deserved it.
It’s mine! All mine! Its powers will aid me in doing what Kira wills me to do! It’s up to me to do this! Only I have this honor!
“Hyuk, why hello. It’s nice to meet you, Teru Mikami. You seem to have taken quite a liking to this ratty old notebook of mine.”
The sudden noise caused Mikami to let out a grunt of surprise, which caused him to nearly drop the notebook. Standing right in front of him was a most terrifying monster, a magical being that Mikami had assumed was merely a fairytale. Surely, no such being existed. There was no reason for such a being to exist in the so-called ‘real world’, or so Mikami had thought. Mikami soon realized that he had thought wrong.
What the hell?! What is this thing? Is it really…? Could it be…? It can’t be right? I’m imagining things, but still…
“W-who are you?” Mikami pushed up his glasses, his gaze unwavering as he stared at the strange black creature with wings before him. “No, wait. What are you?”
It was both terrifying and confusing, Mikami wasn’t sure what he had expected after retrieving the notebook, but it certainly wasn’t such a creature. He had expected to deposit the death note into his briefcase and leave. Instead, here he was face to face with something he never even thought existed.
“Don’t worry, I’m not gonna eat you or anything. The name’s Ryuk. I’m a shinigami and I’m the original owner of the notebook that Kira passed down to you.”
Shinigami! Mikami’s eyes went wide. I can’t believe it! So it’s true… I was right, that old folk legend! This creature is a God of Death, and this is his notebook! Amazing, terrifying, yes but amazing…a shinigami, this is part of being an owner of the death note, part of being Kira, or in my case, Second Kira…
The being laughed in amusement at Mikami’s sudden discovery. Mikami fought his nerves and continued staring at him, determined not to back down. He wanted to appear as brave as he could despite this little hiccup. That was one thing he learned doing his job, you had to always appear cool and collected. Especially when dealing with criminals, or in this case, a shinigami who towered over him.
“I doubt I’d show up on a human camera, but a picture would last longer,” the shinigami replied and Mikami was almost certain that the creature was trying to crack a joke.
What an interesting being…he has a sense of humor, eh? What a way to lighten the mood. I suppose he’s gotten this sort of reaction before.
The joke aside, Mikami was ready to get into it. He was ready to take on his position as the Second Kira. There were many things swirling around in his head, and he was ready to take action, and hopefully get some answers.
But still…when it comes down to it…
“The source of Kira’s killing power is this death note and a shinigami?”
“Kind of a package deal, really. Well explained in the manual, now written in both Japanese and English,” Ryuk explained, giving a slight nod. “I can answer some questions, if you have any, but mostly I just sort of hang around. Don’t expect me to do much but watch, if you want my complete honesty. Also I’m not here to guide you on what’s right or wrong, or even influence your decisions at all. The notebook right now is entirely yours…it’s up to you what you want to do with it, I don’t care.”
“Amazing…” Mikami murmured to himself, the initial shock wearing off as the excitement now rolled back in. He pushed up his glasses, deep in thought. After all, this was a lot for him to process. It wasn’t like he had expected to see such a creature, he was only expecting to take the notebook and leave.
A package deal, eh? Interesting…a magical creature and a magical notebook, both of which are now my responsibility for the time being, what a well kept secret that this Kira and Second Kira had, it’s truly impressive, I have to admit…hm, wait a moment…I had no idea he was even in the room with me, until…
Something in Mikami’s mind clicked and he glanced between the death note and Ryuk, “so no one else can see or hear you but the owner of the notebook…is that correct? You appeared after I touched the notebook…interesting.”
“Yeah, it’s something like that,” Ryuk gave a slight nod as he shifted around. He was rather flighty, Mikami noted. Not able to sit still. “But we can go over that later.”
Ah right. Mikami looked around, that’s for the best…people. I don’t know how much longer it’ll be before someone starts looking around the premises. On the off chance that someone is around…if someone hears any noise, they may start to look around. The last thing I need to do is draw any attention to myself. Not when I’ve already come this far and gotten the notebook safely within my grasp.
As if he could hear his thoughts, the shinigami gave another chuckle. “Don’t worry, we’re alone right now…but you’re right, we should probably get a move on. If it’s one thing I’ve learned, you humans are strange creatures. Strange creatures who don’t like looking like they’re talking to no one…”
“Well. Maintaining a good image is important,” Mikami confirmed, feeling slightly more at ease with the creature before him. The fear was also starting to wear off as he realized this shinigami was likely not a threat.
This shinigami creature is quite odd…it doesn’t seem like he’s lying to me, his body language tells me that much. I suppose he doesn’t stand to gain from lying anyway, he did mention that he doesn’t care at all what I do.
“You sound just like Li-” Ryuk paused, as if to realize he had started to say something he shouldn’t have. He gave a slight cough, “well, let’s just say it’s no fun not having anyone to talk to.”
At this, Mikami’s ears perked up, Li? I sound just like Li? This… this has to be the identity of the first Kira he almost revealed right? For privacy and safety purposes, it’s obvious the identities of the Kira and Second Kira have to be hidden…although, I have to admit, I’m rather curious…well, we can get to that later. Right now, I’m crunched for time…better to be safe than sorry, right? Back to the task at hand, Teru Mikami!
The prosecutor let out his own small laugh in amusement. “Well, you said your name was Ryuk, correct? Hm. Don’t worry, Ryuk…the fun is about to start.”
Mikami gave his glasses another push, a glint in his eyes as he stuffed the notebook into his briefcase, being careful not to crinkle it. Unrolling it was a task in itself and he wanted to keep it in a pristine condition. He vowed to keep it safe and hidden. After all, to the public he was acting as Kira now. He had a reputation to uphold.
Mikami was extra cautious as he retraced his footsteps through the building, Ryuk trailing close behind him. It appeared the photoshoot was well underway, as the halls remained empty and the only thing that could be heard was his footsteps hitting the polished floors below. He kept a brisk pace, and within a moment, he was able to clear the building, leaving not a trace behind him. The hard part was now officially over. Mikami made his way to his car, a smirk on his face as the events of the last few minutes played through his mind once more.
It’s my turn. My chance being the Second Kira. It’s my time to shine…
“Hyuk, you seem rather excited.” Ryuk gave a laugh. He was loitering around in the backseat, watching as Mikami unloaded the briefcase into the seat beside him. Mikami then settled into the driver’s seat, ready to take off.
“As I mentioned, Ryuk, I’m sure things will be rather fun.”
Rather fun, indeed. The exchange was a success. It’s official, I’m now the new Second Kira.

[Hello, I do not have account with this thing I need for work. Pls can you make me a validated account?]
[Hi, do you have the same account for x, y, z, or a? Because we can then merge that validated account with this new account.]
N-no, I do not have any of those accounts. o.q -- Already so many of Priority task already... =-= -- Talking to New Team Leader and mentioned 'haha, there's some Third Task from yesterday that was put up late, and lots of Priority Task from today.'
And she's like, 'Oh, with the timeline the Third Task should really be finished first, even though Priority Task is Priority.'
'But, Third Task doesn't usually need to be actioned until about 2 weeks or longer?' (or never?)
'Yeah, but while it isn't the priority, they still need to be finished on the day. So it should have been done first and if you don't think you can finish the Third Task in time, email New Hire so he can do it. But we can ask Older Team Leader once she gets back what her thoughts on it are.' [Older team leader doesn't work Wednesdays]
'All right.'
Get back to desk and pretty much a few minutes later, Newer Team Leader asks me to do Third Task first, which I figured she was going to do so I'd already started working on Third Task.
And then it devolved into A Thing.
I don't like doing Third Task. =-= They're longer to finish and tick off and work my brain in a different way (which would help with more practice if I did them more, but I don't so it's just slow going). There's a couple of new factors that really slow Third Task today. Really slow. Even coworkers who are used to that sort of thing are completely stumped.
I look at what's left of Third Task after an hour of bashing away at it, look at the Priority task that has grown since I last looked at it, and calculate how long this would take me to do. Basically, naaaaaah. There's no chance of finishing any of this in good time, and I don't want to lump New Hire with this amount of work in his final hour, so I email New Team Leader and New Hire.
[Hey, early update about workload. There's still stuff left of Third Task and x amount of Priority task.]
[Okay, New Hire can pick up what's left after 4pm. You can continue on with Third Task and then go back to Priority Task.]
That's.
That's not what I was saying. I was giving you an early heads up since you said if I needed help, to email New Hire so that he can pick up stuff, and I want him to pick up some of the work early, so that he has to squeeze a huge amount of work in a short amount of time.
But fine. That's what you told me to do and I won't argue.
But also!! If that was going to be your response, then I may as well have just given my usual update 5 minutes I leave and just caught New Hire unawares I guess?? Since that would have given the exact same outcome?? -- Finally finish Third Task about 30 minutes before I leave. 8l Welp, there's only so much I can do.
I'm typing up workload update email and get a phonecall from New Team Leader.
'So how are you doing?' 'Fine.' 'How's the Priority Task?' 'Well, there's about the same as what I told you before.' '............................Oh.' 'Yeah.'
This was what I was trying to warn you about.
'Was this why you emailed at 3?'
YES!!!!!
(Like. I'm aware in hindsight that I never flat out stated 'I need help and would like these to be picked up before I go to make sure New Hire isn't suddenly dumped with a bunch of work right before he leaves in a timescale wise is really unfair to do by himself' but also 1) Not my job/place to tell Team Leader what needs to be done. 2) She's been known to get a bit snippy with people who try to just. Do stuff to help other people's workload, rather than running it by her first 3) Welp, this is her job so it's out of my hands how she runs it once I've left.)
But yeah. I was just stewing over because she wanted things done the Right Way in Order, the task that doesn't get actioned for at least a week is done! And what doesn't get done and ignored is the task that needs to be finished on the day.
Smart. o3ob
