‘Tapdance at Knuckle Junction’
Three members of Beacon Academy's Team CRRM found seats close to the arena floor. Their gargantuan teammate, Rhett Aquilon, had reached the Singles round of the tournament and could be squared up to fight any time. His partner Maize Demetra could hardly wait.
Seeing Rhett fight solo was always a treat. She wondered what poor soul would be cursing the day they were born. Her brown eyes were glued to the screen as the faces shuffled for the selection.
Her dude was up; the scrolling image on the left stopped on Rhett's face. The fox faunus cheered loudly, her sandy blonde hair bouncing as she hopped in place.
"Hey, little foxy!" Maize heard Yang say. "So who do you think your boy will be fighting?" Yang asked her as the image for Rhett's opposition began spinning.
"Whoever it is will regret ever signing up for this tournament! The biggest guy in Beacon is no one with whom to be trifled." Maize's teammate, the scruffy Rusty Holt, answered. He looked like he walked straight out of a Western movie: a dark brown vest over a white button-up, a gun belt over his denim pants, and a cowboy hat and boots, his two pistols holstered at his waist. He even sported a red bandana around his neck.
"You sure, Rusty? He's strong, but there are some contenders still in the game!" Crystal Brooke, the leader of Team CRRM, asked him. She had bright hair as blue as the sky and icy blue eyes to match. Her weapon, an axe-shaped guitar named Grimm Edge, rested on her back. "That huge dude from Haven with the axes, the musclebound chick from Vacuo. And Pyrrha, even though he probably won't be fighting a Beacon student."
"Oh please, the Frozen Bear Bullet will demolish anyone in his path!" Maize cheered again, her fox ears wiggling excitedly.
The spinning wheel of faces slowed, the crowd going quiet in anticipation. It stopped on the face of Haven Academy's Zwei Silverstein.
"You guys still sure of the Polar Bear Boy?" A reptilian faunus with bright green scales asked them. Ariah Mikari grinned at the sight of her boyfriend's face on the screen. "His team demolished mine, and Team ARTC is just as tough as CRRM."
"Most of the reason for that was Team MZKL got a forest and Indigo made all the plants do his bidding! The only ones Zwei fought were you and Ragnar!" Maize snapped. Her brother would smash this human's face to pieces.
"You might remember Bakudan defeating Indigo and rushing Zwei alongside Miss Oktober. He took them both down easily enough. Bianca took out Lorelei but then Katrina blew her out of the stadium. Then in their Doubles match, he eradicated Flik Jewell with no problem while Tree fought off her cousin." Ariah reminded them. The fox girl rolled her eyes.
"Will Zwei Silverstein of Haven's Team MZKL and Rhett Aquilon of Beacon's Team CRRM please report to the arena stage!" Dr. Oobleck called over the PA. A silver blur raced out of an entryway onto the stage, and Zwei was standing there in wait.
An icy chill fell over the stadium as Rhett Aquilon, Beacon's biggest and baddest boy, made the scene.
"Rhett! I finally get to square up with the strongest fight Beacon has to offer!" Zwei bowed respectfully before the walking freezer. Rhett nodded.
"I hear you've got the top marks at Haven, and it's not hard to see why. You pretty much carried your team in that first match!" Zwei's eyes narrowed at Rhett's remark.
"They held their own. Lorelei was tricked by Bianca Tenerife's spells, and Indigo was just plain careless. He thought his trees would defend him well enough, but Cambria Bakudan made the whole forest go 'BOOM!'" He replied.
The bear faunus that was Rhett Aquilon was positively gigantic. He wore short and spiny white hair, and two small white bear ears rested atop his head. He seemed to not be wearing his armor today, though he could deploy the suit at any time. He looked almost like a bear Mecha when he wore his full armor suit.
Cryo and Rime, his enormous gauntlets, rested on his ginormous hands. The intricate gauntlets had spiked knuckles and wrists but otherwise looked cybernetic. Zwei knew to steer clear of the monolithic bear boy's freezing punches, lest he should wind up a block of ice. He'd made sure to pack Hiei and Kurama with custom Dust cartridges in case he needed an extra boost.
Rhett deployed his armor, the blue, white and black plates appearing from nowhere. "DUDE! YOU HAVE THE COOLEST ARMOR!!! IT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE ESCAFLOWNE!" Zwei spazzed at the sight of the fully armored Rhett.
"Like who?" Rhett replied. Zwei grinned.
"It's a mech from an anime."
"A mech? Like a Gundam?"
"The same idea, but vastly different. Escaflowne was like a knight's armor came to life or something. That show's technology was more retro-futuristic than most mecha shows."
"Hmm, I'll have to check it out. Is it as heart-wrenching as Evangelion?" Rhett could hardly believe he and his foe were nerding out in front of all of Remnant. "Nah, it's more of a romance than a nightmare..." Zwei grinned, Rhett laughing back.
"If the gentlemen on the battlefield are ready... although I would love to hear more about these mecha shows you're both talking about later... BEGIN!!" Dr. Oobleck announced. His inner nerd was showing proudly today, it seemed.
Rhett and Zwei came out swinging. Zwei was impressed that Rhett could move as fast as he did with such heavy armor. He was not as fast as Zwei, though. The silver-haired boy hopped around Rhett in circles, hacking away with his two throwing axes.
Rhett wasn't putting up with that. He activated his Semblance to freeze the air around him. Ice shards formed on Zwei's body, and he knew it was time to make some space between them. He yelled out, his Semblance amplifying the sound his voice and casting a barrier around him. He used the opportunity to hop away from Rhett.
All six feet and four inches of Zwei were now blistering cold. He used Hiei to conjure some fire to melt the ice on his uniform. He then thrust Hiei and Kurama together, the two axes taking the shape of what looked to be a rocket launcher. He shot a blast of fire Dust at the frozen bear man.
Rhett's icy Semblance sucked the heat out of the fire until it dissipated. It never even got close...
The blades of Zwei's axes came together and shot off at Rhett, surrounded by a ball of fire. This time when the fire fizzled out, the blades hit Rhett's armor. The suit disappeared. Zwei must have hit the switch.
"HEY! Don't show my body without my permission!" Rhett snapped. Zwei apologized.
"I feel like more people should see your body, though. It's pretty impressive. You're super jacked!" Zwei complimented. Rhett blushed.
"Not right now, though, I's got a fight to win!" The bear boy exclaimed as his armor returned. He charged at Zwei, seven feet and two inches of large and imposing bear man. Zwei rolled out of Rhett's way to avoid being crushed.
The two of them traded punches, Zwei shielding his fists with sound. It wasn't the best defense against Cryo and Rime and the onslaught of ice, but it kept him from being frozen solid. Zwei produced his yo-yo, a trick he normally wouldn't use, and thrust it forward. The yo-yo punched holes in Rhett's icy aura shield, and Zwei hacked his way through the opening he'd made with his axes.
Him getting that close to Rhett caught the bear boy off-guard, and Zwei's punch threw him off his balance. The enormous boy fell over, but he rolled and caught his footing.
"Did you get that from Ariah?" She uses yo-yos sometimes!"
"Her uncle gave me this, but he taught both of us the yo-yo fighting techniques! Little Rinku is a genius!" Zwei answered, winking at his girlfriend in the crowd. The reptile girl blushed brightly. "Alright, Rhett. Time for jams!"
"Like tunes or like noms?"
"The former. Why would I bring eats to a sanctioned tournament fight? I mean, I know a girl whose Semblance involves eating, but I don't think she even signed up for the tournament!"
"Do you see how large I am? I always pack eats with me. Speaking of which..." Rhett dug into a pocket on his armor and produced a sandwich, devouring it in a quick bite so the ice wouldn't freeze it. "MMM! MAIZE, THIS IS TASTY! THANK YOU! YOU'RE MY NEW FAVORITE!!"
"Oh hush, Rhett! You're making her blush! Besides, she's your favortie already, isn't she?" Crystal answered him, their foxy teammate too stunned to speak.
"I ought to shoot you for that, Brain Freeze! We all know I make the best sandwiches in Vale!" Rusty fired off, Crystal rolling her eyes.
A tune started playing, and Rhett noticed Zwei had produced his cello. This tune was a bop. It sounded almost like a shanty.
"Hey, that's pretty good!" Rhett told him, dancing to the tune.
"Thanks!" Zwei replied. He put Genkai away, but the music continued. He produced his guitar. "Genkai makes for a nice rhythm, but Ototo here really makes the tunes!" Zwei played his tune on his new instrument, layering the music with his Semblance. He even clapped and used mouth noises to make a percussive section.
"Dude, you're totally a music machine!" Rhett cheered, still dancing.
"Yep, Ariah's folks used to call me Jukebox! Also, you do know this is building up to an attack, right?" Zwei asked. He had never had someone dance to his music in the heat of battle before, so he wanted to make certain.
"Of course! I've already got a counterattack strategy! You've got a hot beat going, and I feel like dancing! I'll be ready, trust me!" Rhett answered with a grin. "HEY EVERYONE! YOU GUYS SHOULD DANCE, TOO!!" He yelled into the crowd, his thick baritone carrying over Zwei's music.
The audience caught the beat when the tune looped around. The rest of Team CRRM as well as Teams RWBY and CFVY danced around. Team SSSN joined in, even though Neptune looked ridiculous. Even Team JNPR paired off to dance.
"I think the song might be finished, my dude!" Zwei finally announced. Rhett nodded, finishing his dance and readying himself. His body surged with icy aura as Zwei increased his song's volume to painful levels. Rhett fired icicles at his foe as Zwei launched his decibels at Rhett. He fired all of his ice at once.
The blast knocked the two of them to the edge of the ring. They both tiredly hopped up. Rhett retracted his armor and gauntlets. The meters on the screen showed that their auras were low, but they had enough to keep fighting.
"So, shall we just have a fisticuff, then?" Zwei proposed. Rhett nodded, and the two ran at each other. They threw punches and kicks back and forth, evenly matched without their Semblances. Rhett caught one of Zwei's punches in his hand, uppercutting him in that brief opening.
Zwei took that hit hard, falling to the floor after being launched into the air by Rhett's monstrous mitt. He got up to one knee, breathing heavily. He shot at Rhett with an ax in hand, Rhett blocking with Cryo. It was Hiei and Kurama versus Cryo and Rime now.
The both of them swung ferociously, Zwei hacking with his axes and Rhett blocking and punching with his gauntlets. The side of Kurama slapped into Rhett's face, and Zwei tackled him with all his strength. Rhett fell back, but he rolled over and got back to his feet.
"These two just won't quit!" Professor Port mentioned over the PA.
"I knew this would be an incredible bout! These two are ruthlessly strong!" Dr. Oobleck returned. The two enormous boys continued trading blows, the battle finally culminating in a trade of face punches that knocked the both of them out.
"It looks like this match is a draw! Well met, gentlemen!" Professor Port announced. Rhett and Zwei shook hands when they finally stood back up.
"That was the best fight I've had in ages, Zwei!" Rhett complimented. Zwei grinned at the massive bear man.
"Without question, that was the best fight I've EVER had!" Zwei returned. "Hey, would you and your team be down to hang out later? I don't think Team MZKL will be up to anything."
"I'll ask everyone, but I'm pretty sure they'll be down with that," Rhett answered. He and Zwei departed the arena's stage and found their teammates. Zwei kissed his favorite reptile on the lips as she congratulated him.

Day 11: RWBY OC
Rhett Aquilon belongs to @shadowsoldier-rwby. The rest of Team CRRM (pronounced ‘Chrome’) belong to @kimiheartblade. All other OCs mentioned belong to me, ZweI the Penguin With a Pen.
I’ve wanted to write a tournament match between Rhett and Zwei for ages now, but I think I was saving it for part of a bigger story. Oh well.
Team MZKL (’Musical’) consists of Indigo Montoya, Zwei Silverstein, Katrina Windstorm and Lorelei Sienna. They are second year students at Haven at the time of the Vytal Festival tournament.
Team ATRC (Arctic) is made up of Ariah Mikari, Bianca Tenerife, Ragnar Oktober and Cambria Bakudan. They are first years at Beacon.
Team JSMN is Flik Jewell, Serianna Steele, Mangorita Windstorm, and Nekocase Viridian. I think I listed them as Beacon students, also first years.
Zwei and Lorelei are my favorite of my OCs, and Zwei has a bit of an affection for Rhett. Zwei has an interesting attraction formula, as his initial attraction to someone is directly proportional to how much he wants to fight them. I headcanon him being rendered completely catatonic at the first sight of Yang.
He is devoted to Ariah Mikari, though, and would never stray, as she could easily end his life.
This might be the biggest one-shot I’ve ever written, and I’m proud of it. I hope Aiden and Crystal enjoy it as well.

‘Silver and Cold’
He blocked the swing of her sai with the handle of his purple ax, spinning it in his hand and thrusting the blade at her. She blocked with her second sai, going for a stab with the first one. Zwei spun the purple ax to block, knocking it from her hand. Ariah snatched the sai out of the air with her scaly tail, passing it back to her empty hand after blocking another attack.
"Enough with the damned parrying! Have a real fight or get out of my ring!" Elder Genkai shrieked at the two of them. Ariah rolled her eyes before looking at their village's surrogate grandmother.
"I swear, we're NOT parrying! We're just that evenly matched!" She protested. Zwei nodded at the clan elder. The old woman cackled as she shook her head.
"You just love looking at each other so much that you're playing around! Not that either of you is afraid to make a hit, but you're too busy gawking at each other to fight!" Genkai cackled. Zwei laughed loudly at that.
"Well, you know what the fight does for me, Elder Hag!" He joked, ensuring himself a snide comment or a beating. Either one would be fine with him.
"Don't call me that in front of people, Gray Matter! I don't care if you're shagging one of my baby-children!"
"The whole village does not need to know our business, Gran." Ariah rolled her eyes, mortified at Elder Kai's words. Genkai only cackled again.
"Well if you weren't so noisy, they might not know. Have you thought of it that way?" Genkai goaded her. Ariah rolled her eyes again, slashing at Zwei with a sai. She slashed at him hand over hand, Zwei blocking every hit with one of his axes. He spun the other one on his wrist and slashed downward at her. Ariah thrust both her sais up and caught the ax head between them, and with a pull, she'd wrenched it from his hand. The ax flew across the ring and fell to the ground.
"Oh, she's got some fight in her now, doesn't she?" Ototo, Ariah's father, mentioned as he appeared next to his mother. Elder Genkai chortled and watched on.
Zwei hacked away at his dear love, dealing hits on either side of her shoulders. She blocked his strikes hit for hit. Were they truly this evenly matched? Well, they had trained together for over a year, since Zwei had come to live with her family. Living among the Faunus had taught Zwei quite a lot. He already didn't like many humans. Atlas had given him a difficult childhood.
His father Eins had been a decorated general in the army of Atlas, but Eins had been taken down in battle, or so the army had told them. His mother had run a small bakery in the city beside their house, but some hooligans had set fire to it, burning the whole building and killing Azura. Zwei had found the arsonists and beaten them senseless, and he had nearly been arrested until a bystander recognized the fire starters.
He'd even been evicted from an apartment just because Ariah had visited him. The prejudiced landowner hadn't even given an excuse. "You're not bringing Faunus trash around my paying tenants! Pack your shit and get out!" So he'd moved with Ariah to her family's village a few miles out of the city. Faunus who had known nothing about him had taken him in, helped him refine his fighting prowess, and even helped him to forge his weapon.
Before them, he'd only had a guitar, a knapsack full of notebooks, and the clothes on his back. Now he was a warrior, and the Mikari clan was his family now. Rinku, Ariah's uncle, was an ingenious inventor who helped training fighters to forge their weapons. Now Zwei would be applying to Haven Academy soon. Ariah had another year before she could apply, but she was likely going to Beacon Academy in Vale.
The two fighters slashed and sliced relentlessly. Zwei knocked her back long enough to make for his second ax. Just as he grabbed it, his body froze. Ariah had captured him with her shadow. She smirked at the success of her Semblance. Zwei grinned at his love before screaming loudly, the sound increasing to a deafening shrill. The force of the sound knocked Ariah over.
By the time Ariah had collected herself, Zwei had pinned her to the floor of the ring. "Better luck next time, my dear." He told her, placing a kiss on her forehead. This was how they usually finished battles.
"Great work, both of you! Now go get some dinner before your kid brothers eat everything!" Genkai congratulated as she dismissed them. Zwei could hardly wait for whatever Juri had cooked.

‘Titanium’
She stretched out her arms as she donned the last of her armor. Nora fiddled with Magnhild eagerly, spoiling for a good scrap. Nora was always armed and ready, never shy to display the power of her incredible hammer. Pyrrha could hardly wait for their Doubles Match to commence.
She was immensely proud to be fighting alongside Nora. It had been obvious which two of them would advance from the get-go. Since Nora had demolished the whole of Team BRNZ with a swift smash of Magnhild and Pyrrha had taken the brunt of the fight until then, the four of them had elected the two to advance.
That confusion in regards to their Team Attacks in the first round had finally been forgotten... Poor Jaune, he really tries. Well, most of the time. Anyway...
Pyrrha twirled Milo around on her arms, the javelin effortlessly bouncing off her wrists and forearms. Milo rested at her back; no need to practice with the shield with the fight so close at hand. Nora's body pulsed with electricity as her excitement flared ever higher. Ren and Jaune waited with the girls, giving encouraging words here and there.
Pyrrha pondered who they would be squaring off with this time around. She knew they would sortie with two members of Team DNCE ('Dance') from Shade. The four of them had made quick work of a crew from Haven in their Teams match. OBSN ('Obsidian'), Pyrrha seemed to remember. Three phenomenal fighters with a mediocre-at-best leader, they'd all had great skills and interesting Semblances.
Unfortunately, Danuba Pike's incredible tactics had taken them out. His weapon was an apparently endless supply of spiked metal spheres, with which he used his Aura to attack and defend. He didn't seem to have shown his Semblance in the fight, so that could be a hitch for them.
Then there was Wrench Nimbus, the feisty featherhead. Nimbus was an avian Faunus with patchy down on her arms. She was capable of forcing flurries of razor-sharp feathers at her foes, much like that boar Faunus from Haven. Ariah Mikari, a fellow Beacon student who was dating a member of that same team, had told Pyrrha that Lorelei Sienna's tusks were much more threatening than Wrench's feathers.
Chartreuse Toppsy boasted incredible speed, even on a level with Ruby, as well as a skull-shaped belt buckle that fired Dust rounds. She usually stuck to Fire Dust, but that wasn't all she used. Toppsy also sported a prosthetic leg that she could, in a pinch, take off and whack with or throw at a foe. This had gotten her free of a predicament in the fight with Team OBSN.
And finally, there was Amethyst Eatnahs. She had danced around her foes while making precise pricks and jabs with her scimitar. She also seemed to possess a transformation ability, but Pyrrha wasn't sure if that was true or just some illusion. Either way, all four of Team DNCE were skilled at dance battling, striking between steps and dominating all the while.
The PA finally called for their two teams to report to the arena's stage. Nora and Pyrrha hugged their boyfriends tightly, the two young men giving a few last encouraging words. The two women defiantly made their way toward the fight. The two of them arrived before their adversaries, so they flexed and stretched as they both waited.
The roaring crowd in Pyrrha's ears could not distract her. As a renowned fighter, she was used to crowds. However awful she was at social interaction, the battlefield was where she shone the brightest. The biggest thrill of her life was the arena.
With a thundering announcement and a ridiculous joke from Professor Port, Team DNCE lived up to their namesake, dancing across the floor toward the battle platform. Amity Coliseum sure was incredible; an arena in the sky that could be moved from kingdom to kingdom.
Once the dancers reached the platform, Nora and Pyrrha could finally see their foes. Chartreuse was given away by her green bob of hair and piercing red eyes. Amethyst's whipping long purple locks danced around her body even after she'd stopped dancing. Her hair seemed almost alive, thrashing about in Pyrrha's direction.
"Check it out, Topps! We get the goddesses!" Amethyst exclaimed. Her bright red getup consisted of a crop top under a half-jacket, denim pants and a killer pair of heels. Sharp and stabby, for good measure. Toppsy wore a green hoodie over a pink tank top, with short green denims and heavy brown boots.
"Well, they were the better two, certainly. The soldiers were pretty great, especially the dark-haired one, but we deserve to fight two goddesses, don't we Amy?" The green-haired girl replied. Pyrrha wasn't all the way sure what they meant, but she knew this would be quite the fight.
The platform creaked as the floor gave way to the simulated environment: JNPR was given a forest, while DNCE received a desert biome. The four of them took their positions and waited for Port or Oobleck to give the signal.
Once it came, Pyrrha shot forward and attacked Amethyst full on. The dancer stepped out of the path of each of Pyrrha's hits, whipping at Pyrrha with her purple hair. Pyrrha blocked most of Amethyst's strikes with her weapon or shield. The way this girl danced around Pyrrha's attacks was becoming more than Nikos could stomach.
Nora was having similar troubles with Toppsy, the green dancer sidestepping Nora's hammer. Toppsy was having fun with the hotheaded 'goddess' as she kept saying, not even drawing any rounds for her weapon. Finally, Nora morphed her weapon and fired a round at Chartreuse. Toppsy hopped a second too late, the round grazing her side and knocking her down.
"Ooh, she really is a Valkyrie!" She uttered, pleasantly surprised. Nora chortled.
"Nah, I think 'goddess' was more accurate." She hoisted Magnhild over her head and readied for a swing. CLANK!
Toppsy had taken off her prosthesis and blocked the hammer's haft with it. "Impressive, eh? The folks at Atlas really know what they're doing these days! If I knew the learning curve wouldn't be crazy steep, I might just part ways with my other leg. But Amy seems to like my leg skin quite a bit." Nora tried to wrest her hammer away, but the leg must have had powerful magnets inside.
Akouo slammed into Toppsy's leg, bouncing off for a hit at her chest before returning to Pyrrha. Nora yanked her hammer away and launched herself into the air with a blast. Pyrrha thrust Amethyst away from her and made for Toppsy. Chartreuse whacked at her with the metal leg, and with that Pyrrha had the upper hand.
Toppsy reattached her leg and moved to avoid the impending Nora that was careening toward her from the air. She took a step and could no longer move. Pyrrha had grounded her with her Semblance. Amethyst saw this and moved to counter, but caught another idea instead.
Amy threw her scimitar into the air. The sword shot toward Nora.
"Wrong answer, Hair-Whip!" Pyrrha fired her javelin at the scimitar. The blade lost its course and stabbed into the sand, and Pyrrha hopped out of the way just in time for Nora's impact. Toppsy and Amethyst were launched off the side of the battlefield, the screen showing their Auras had depleted.
"NORA AND PYRRHA WIN!! Explosive as ever, girls!" Dr. Oobleck cheered over the PA he was supposed to be as biased as possible, but he would cheer for Beacon and his students all the same.
Jaune and Ren made the scene to congratulate their teammates and girlfriends. Pyrrha ventured off to make sure their colorful adversaries were alright. Char and Amy congratulated them on their win, and the two teams met up for a well-earned meal to celebrate.

Day One: Favorite Character
If anyone bothers to read these, they know Pyrrha’s my fave!
I remembered reading somewhere that Pyrrha and Nora fought in the Doubles round of the Vytal Festival, although that sequence was scrapped or something. So, I made them go toe-to-toe with a couple of my OCs from Team MZKL, the fanfic I still have not written a single line of...XD
Team DNCE are based on Shantae characters. Danuba Pike is Bolo, Wrench Nimbus is Sky, Chartreuse Toppsy is Rottytops, and Amethyst Eatnahs is Shantae with a little Risky thrown in.
OCs and OC teams shall be in bold type. All OCs are the property of ZweI, the penguin with a pen, the owner of this blog, unless otherwise mentioned.
So yeah, happy NaNoWriMo, folks! Enjoy my garbage, if you dare...

‘The Storm Before the Calm’
The tiny Katrina Windstorm pummeled the simulated foes brought about by the training arena, her sapphire hair drenched with sweat and her topaz eyes itching. She fought on, though, letting nothing stop her. She and Bok Choy would not miss a single target. Her marks would be perfect, and she would rub it in Zwei's face. He would laugh at her, as he usually did, but she would still have this victory.
She hurled her wok pan at an oncoming foe, a hologram shaped like an Ursa. The rim of the pan pierced its skin as Fire Dust seared the Grimm. The pan flew back to 'Trina's hand, guided by her wind. A small horde of Boarbatusks appeared next. Trina would not waste her fiery wok's power on these; her wind would make quick work of them.
She conjured her Aura into her hands, twisting them in circles until she'd created two small dervishes. She slammed her two fists together and sent the resulting tornado into the heart of the horde, tossing them all across the arena. The lights suddenly went up, telling tiny Trina that the session was through.
"Perfect... as per usual, Miss Windstorm. Even Silverstein will be envious of your grades!" Professor Plum told her, the combat instructor with her short lilac hair and dark purple eyes clapping for her star first year.
"Not quite, Plum. He'll be impressed, certainly, but he would sooner see me beat him in a fight." The tiny fighter replied, dismissing herself to the stands. __________________________
"You're amazing, 'Trina! One day you might be able to win an actual fight." Zwei Silverstein joked, forever giving his kid partner a hard time. Though he would never tell her as such, he would bet his life on her skills. She could smash their team leader Indigo in a scrap, and she and Lorelei were evenly matched. Zwei's training with Ariah's family put him at the very top among first years, and even upperclassmen could not best him.
Of course, he had yet to face Team CRRM's Rhett Zephyr, who was supposed to be the strongest student in all of Remnant. Then again, he hailed from a different school. Zwei was, for now, content with being the strongest fighter at Haven.
Katrina was determined to defeat him in a sparring match one of these days.
"Katrina, I've been meaning to ask you... why do you wear an apron as part of your outfit?" Indigo Montoya, their team leader asked, seated on a pile of cushions at the corner of their dorm room. He whipped his namesake hair from his face, a habit he'd picked up from his brother Skylar.
"Well, it's half force of habit, since I used to be a cook, and half convenience. This thing has pockets everywhere, so I can store tons of supplies." She returned. Her denim apron covered a white polo and black pants. Her bright red kicks (Indigo often noted that they were red with the blood of her enemies) peeked out from beneath her pants.
Her teammates' uniforms were much less convenient and, in her opinion, not very fashion-forward. Zwei wore a ninja-ish getup, dark gray with black accents, matching his gray eyes and spiny silver hair. Indigo wore blue denims and a mishmash of purple armor over an orange shirt. Lorelei Sienna donned an orange sleeveless vest and matching shorts, accented with black leggings and arm wraps.
"You're known her for two months and you've never asked her that?" Lorelei spoke, fiddling with one of her old tusks. Lorelei was a boarish Faunus, and it was an apparent bloodline trait (apparent because she didn't know her actually blood family) to be able to yank out your tusks to use as weapons. A new one would grow in within seconds.
"What? I just never noticed." Indigo snapped back.
"He's been too busy giving YOU all his attention!" Zwei jabbed, blocking a thrown pillow from his face. "What? It's true, innit?" He blocked the next cushion thrown his way.
"Give it up, 'Nigo, you'll never hit him. I've tried too many times." Katrina complained.
"One day, little hurricane, one day..." Lorelei encouraged, a smile between her cute but deadly tusks.

Day 11: RWBY OC
I chose Katrina Wndstorm at the suggestion of @magical-game, and I wanted to write about all of team MZKL (Musical) but I’m a little pressed for time today. Also shoutout to @shadowsoldier-rwby, as I mentioned his OC, Rhett Zephyr.
Katrina is a tiny hurricane with orange eyes and sapphire hair. She alludes to Flo from diner Dash and Temari Nara from Naturo. Her semblance is Wind, making gusts and tornadoes and such. Her weapon is Bok Choy, a wok pan powered by Fire Dust. Her battle style is to relentlessly smash her foes. She has an optimistic outlook and nothing but love for her team.
Zwei Silverstein looks at her almost like a kid sister, and he quickly becomes her favorite person, even if his attitude is the polar opposite of hers. Indigo Montoya and Lorelei Sienna respect her skills. (Indigo actually fears her a bit, as she can and will whack him with Bok Choy.)
