OCs’ Parents Tag
Thanks for tagging me, @primroseprime2019! :D
Rules: list your OCs’ parents. I’ll do this for The Power and the Glory (but only for the OCs whose parents have been named):
Abi: Hartanna and Mihasrin
Irímé: Kumolnea and Fenvakri
Ilaran: Aderthril and Khíral
Mirio: The emperor (I should probably give this guy an actual name...) and Lady Yuriya
Shizuki: Haliran and Wataru (I’ve renamed this guy, but I won’t be able to actually change his name in the story until the second draft)
Zi Yao: Shi Zheng and Lady Yuan
Lian: Hartanna and Mihasrin
Open tag for anyone who wants to do this! :D

Introducing Mitsuki Amano and her two kiddos Yuriya and Yuriyu whose names don’t make any sense bc I was 10 and I decided not to change them :) They’re a vampiric noble family that live in the Celelcial Plains

for the city
Whumptober entry, chosen prompt: talking is overrated / choking
Original WIP (Witches Seven), secondary antagonist POV. Yuriya Blackwight would do anything for his city. Anything.
Warnings: choking imagery, mentioned possession, murder, referenced child murder, paranoia, delusional and traumatized pov
866 words, under the cut
No. 2 - TALKING IS OVERRATED
garotte | choking | gagged
Yuriya Blackwight was once possessed by the Shade.
It wasn’t for long, Achlys neutralized him before he could cause any real damage and killed the Shade with extreme prejudice (and a spectral sword) but he never forgot it. It took control of his body and choked him out in his own mind, he was trapped and oh so aware, unable to scream as he turned on his coven. It was a black miasma wrapped around his magic, unnatural and oppressive. It harnessed enough of his power to destroy everything, everyone…
He never forgot the way Achlys destroyed it, either.
Before they were a coven all of them had a healthy respect towards each other’s magical prowess. He fought a few of them and they were always pretty evenly matched, a balance that helped to forge the alliance when the time came. Nobody was a danger to the others in a fair fight.
At least that was what he believed, up until Achlys knocked the lungs out of his body and sliced the Shade in half in three moves.
Achlys was incredibly fast. Precise. Measured. He might have surpassed her in sheer destructiveness but that was nothing in the face of her mastery. He was grateful, of course he was (both for the rescue and for the fact that she was on their side) but from that moment he feared her and what she would do once the war was over.
He couldn’t very well tell that to the others, though. Neither of them faced her in battle and coven or no coven, he didn’t feel secure enough to voice his worries, not even to Rae. She might have been his partner but they went way back with Achlys, he couldn’t risk alienating her. (He didn’t want to alienate her. He loved her.)
Fortunately his fears meant that when it all went to hell in a handbasket he wasn’t as shocked as the others. He was sympathetic towards Achlys but it also showed that whatever world they wanted to build she was too dangerous to be a part of. It didn’t take long to convince her to give up her powers, even if she tried to backtrack at the last minute, so he squeezed her hand and breathed easier.
Even if Rae turned her back on him, it was for the good of the city. The future generations. He had no choice.
That is, until Rae started to create the clones and it turned out that no new covens could form other than them.
His fears returned, worse than before. He knew the clones were necessary, of course he knew, but in every black-eyed, black-haired Quehlein he saw the unstoppable, merciless force slashing through the Shade and himself. His dreams were filled with dread, of there-but-not-quite blades cutting into his chest, softly gleaming claws ripping out his heart. Those black eyes knew what he'd done, knew his sin, knew his weakness. They were meant to be his end, his end and the end of everything he built.
He couldn’t let them.
It started with Ingrid of the first generation. She was a bright-eyed girl, practical and talented and he liked her, but when those bright eyes turned at him with hurt and fury and righteousness he knew it couldn’t go on any longer.
He regretfully sprinkled her ashes deep in the fortress and closed up the floor on top of them.
“It needed to happen,” he said to the wards the coven set up long ago. “I did it for the city.”
The wards didn’t seem impressed.
He did it again and again and again. He wished he didn’t have to but they all looked at him with the same eyes, they were all a danger to the peace they built with the Council over the years. They couldn’t stay.
The kids were the worst. They were the ones haunting his dreams, choking him in the darkness, the ones he had to catch while they were still young.
“I saved them,” he said to the wards. “I saved them.”
Rae was looking at him, too. She wasn’t a danger, she couldn’t even practice magic anymore if she didn’t want to hurt herself, but she was looking and she was trying. He hoped she would succeed, he hoped one day a Quehlein would be born who didn’t watch him with those deadly eyes.
When Maya was born he was almost convinced it finally happened. The girl had green eyes and as Rae cradled her to her chest, declaring she would raise her he dared to hope.
It all ended the first time she glared at her, with the power of centuries behind her gaze. He couldn’t touch her then (he didn’t want to, he wasn’t a monster, he didn’t want to kill them so young he was forced to stop looking stop looking) but he knew there would come a time when he had to take that step again and break Rae’s heart with it. Again.
He had to do it.
For the city.
“I don’t have a choice,” he whispered to the wards, begging for understanding. “They always have been watching, and they always will be watching.”
